It’s been a while :3 but… I got an announcement!!

I’ll be releasing fanfics and stuff about Lane in a new series

I have no clue what name to give it so I’m gonna be calling it “lanekasa fic reboot”

it’ll be more focused on lanes backstory, some random silly adventures, and of course…. LANEKASA

it’ll be a fanfic series with illustrations to match the scenery + setting!! It’ll all under different characters point of views and I have a feeling it’d be interesting :3

After very little research into the other writings of Laura Ingalls Wilder and Rose Wilder Lane, my hypothesis about the Little House authorship question is that the writing is mostly Rose's, but the heart is Laura's.

In Laura's newspaper columns, the parts that sound most like Little House mostly come from the extracts she shares from Rose's letters (incidentally, it's kind of adorable how proud she is of Rose: "My daughter's in France!", "My daughter's in Albania!", etc.) The prose of Old Home Town, Rose's inspired-by-my-childhood-home novel, has some of the same concise descriptive prose that I've come to associate with the Little House style (I could hear passages in the voice of the Little House audiobook narrator).

Yet the Little House soul is all over Laura's columns. She's fascinated by the simple tasks of life, believes in home and family and hard work, believes in holding onto the goodness of childhood and looking forward with hope toward the future. There's an optimism, almost a romanticism, about life. The children's series that bears her name clearly comes from the same woman.

Rose, by contrast, is much more pessimistic. When writing about childhood, she's almost cynical about the life of a small town. She highlights the dark stories underlying the wholesome exterior, is extremely sensitive to the pitfalls of the social scene around her. Part of the difference is that Rose is writing for adults, but there does seem to be an essential difference in the personality behind the pen, despite the stylistic similarities to Little House.

(At the risk of pop psychoanalyzing people long dead, Rose seems much more neurotic and introverted and sensitive than her mother. In her writings and in the books about her childhood in Missouri, she comes across as child of a fairly comfortable modern life, with all the modern anxieties, in contrast to a woman who grew up starving on the prairie and knows that there are much worse things to endure than small-town gossip).

It's not much of a thesis, but I'm just fascinated by the fact that the Little House series can share so many stylistic similarities with Rose's writings, yet feel so much more like Laura.

The best fanfiction I've ever read

The house of lane 66 (It is only accessible if you have an account on Ao3)

I am no professional story analyzer, I just like reading stuff, not everything I say is correct and some things may be misremembered because I haven't done a reread of the entire thing in a little while.

There is so much to say about this fic. It builds the world so far beyond what I could have ever expected from a fanfiction, especially an undertale fanfiction. I’ve read a lot of undertale fanfics and none have captivated me like this one has. 

Instead of the skeletons being from different universes they are all brothers and are from the same universe. In a lot of fanfiction that I have read the other AU skeletons got sucked into the OG-verse usually because Sans did something with a machine. It’s a good trope but I can only read the same plot so many times without a palate cleanser. 

As of writing this the story is unfinished but I very eagerly await each update. It has a way of just sucking you in, I’ve spent hours at a time reading it forgetting I need basic things like food and water to survive because that's just how much I get sucked into the story. 

I have cried while reading this, I will not lie to you. You might not but I am a crybaby bitch and I get attached to fictional characters beyond the point of it being healthy. 

I pretty much only read reader inserts and it can be hard to find quality x reader fics, this one reached far beyond my expectations. 

I cannot express to you how impressed I am with the writing, the world building and the character development. 

To give a brief explanation of the plot; MC (reader), finds a job listing to be a groundskeeper, having been looking for a job to help pay for her college. She meets a family of monsters, skeletons to be exact.

Monsters had just come up from the underground and were working for a way that all monsters could live up on the surface. Tensions between humans and monsters are high and it is feared that another war between the two is bound to break out.

Now there is a thing that is talked about that may be a bit controversial. One of the characters admits to having fallen for a character she met when he was underage, only having grown feelings for him once he was of maturity.

Now getting into the morals and shit of that is a whole other topic that I do not want to really get into. I do just want to say I think it further builds on the culture of monsters and the way relationships work differently to humans. 

The building of an entire culture is very impressive to me. Things that are and are not normal to us and things that are and aren't acceptable. The author made it a point to say that she only became interested after he became an adult, the author did not say she had secret feelings for him before that point. To me that is a very important thing. It has been a hot minute since I’ve read that chapter so there may be some other important points that I’m forgetting but I don’t feel like going back to it right now. 

Think whatever you want about it but remember that this is having to do with a culture that is completely separate from humanity, there are of course some things that are the same, mortals that both humans and monsters share, but things do work very differently down in the underground. 

Personally if both characters are consenting adults and the relationship is healthy do your thing. If one loves the other and is not loved back as long as they respect the other person's decision and boundaries I also don’t care. Relationships can get sticky, especially if age gaps are involved. 

ALSO keep in mind that these characters are fake and do not exist so ultimately in the end it doesn't matter. The two characters aren't together and never will be together so that's another thing. 

I decided to add this part because I discovered the author's tumbler and saw they had a post about it. I don’t know, I just thought I’d give my opinion since this whole thing is about my opinion on the story. 

ANYWAY

I want to talk about the character development, just a little bit I swear.

Spoiler warning here because I can't talk about the character development without talking about the characters and how they develop. 

I’m gonna focus on one character that I’m the most interested in; Edge

Those of you who have read the story up to the current (I am writing this while the fic is at 95 chapters according to Ao3 and 89 according to the author) know that Edge is, well, Edgy. 

He has hated the MC from the beginning of the story and only now around the current end of the story has he begun to really truly start to warm up to her. There were moments where it seemed he had opened a wall but that not really being the case in the end. 

MC acknowledges the false promises Edge has made to her which I as a reader personally forgot about until reminded because nothing came of the promise (and because it had been awhile since I’ve read the chapters in which that happened). 

His warming up to MC has been a painfully slow process but ultimately it feels more rewarding for it. Personally seeing him actually be kind (In his own way) to MC was mind blowing to me. I think it was even more impactful because of the false promises before, it seemed as though the two would just never become anything more than enemies. 

Him actually trying to put in effort to make it up to MC (for an event I will not mention because if someone is reading this without having gotten to it I don’t wanna spoil that part. It’s way too good to be spoiled in a review post. I could make a whole rant about THAT part because I have STRONG feelings about it, both good and bad.) was astounding. I fully expected the same cycles to repeat themselves but it was a very pleasant surprise to see that it wasn't the case. 

That first act of kindness after THE event was stiff and tense which makes perfect sense, It’s going to be tense for awhile and I’m not counting on it to be a steady walk to companionship. I think something else is gonna happen, something bad that tears their building relationship apart again. Maybe not something that was either of their faults, if Edge did another horrible thing I do not think MC would forgive him or give him another chance. Not after giving him so many already. 

Hell, MC might be the one to fuck up and damage the budding companionship. I don’t have any theories as to what might happen between them but it just feels like something is bound to happen. Their relationship is so rocky and fragile and I think it’s bound to gain a few more cracks. 

I personally love Edge and how he’s written and I am so extremely excited to see more of him. He’s been so scarce and every moment with him feels like something special. He seems to never fail to surprise me.

I don’t know if he and MC will ever get together, I don’t think it’s likely but I would really like it if they did. Don’t ask me why I am so weak for him, I HAVE TYPE OK!? If they do get together I think it would be closer to the actual end of the story, if it’s taken this long for them to get to the current stage it would take even longer for anything romantic to burst forth. 

I’m kinda ranting now, I need more Edge in the story aaaaaahhhh. I have audibly gasped at some of the things he’s done and I have had to put my phone down to take some time to comprehend some of his actions, most of his actions honestly. 

None of my friends have read this fic and I need an outlet to talk about it so I am posting it to my tumblr. If you did read this I appreciate you so much ahaha.

I haven't really decided who they are but i'm thinking they were also trapped in the cursed aewvs school and somehow was one of the few people to leave it but came back to try to liberate everyone else from the curse too. Dated Billy on and off but their relationship is kinda rocky because Mira had a lot of communication issues. They mean a lot to me!! One thing to note that the screenshots do not show is that Mira has a high angled bob, so their hair is longer in the front than the back. They wear slip on shoes, so no laces rn. Their sweater is very baggy at sleeves, and their chest is preferably flat.

It’s my birthday again!

In honor of such a wonderful day, I made this piece for an art project (a month ago but SsSsSsSSSshHHHhh) showcasing every persona/self insert oc that I had over the years that I am now sharing with you all, along with small descriptions about them for context!

2018 was when I started making oc’s for tmnt 2012, and they were all cringe as hell. For example, here we have Princess Hikari (right), Princess of Iro and the element of color and light (it was 2018 and I’m pretty sure I was also obsessed with Gacha Life mini movies at the time). She was a part of my very first ever tmnt 2012 au where most of the most cast is actually from a different planet where the impossible can happen and certain characters of the main cast were elemental, but due to a villain becoming too powerful, they all flee to earth and most of them lose their memories. On Earth, Hikari disguised herself as Kodie Jackson (left), she was cool, quirky, and always had a good comeback, both in combat and in smack-talk (basically she was a “not-like-other-girls” girl without the whole putting other women down stuff). She also had a crush on Leo, along with every other oc I made during this era.

2020 was when I took a break from tmnt 2012 (shocking, I know) and hyperfixated on Casino Cups, a Cuphead au comic series on Tumblr that I got into because of VOAdams comic dubs for it. I made PLENTY of oc’s, au’s within the au’s, and lore for this (because I was 13 and cringe, what did you expect), some of it I still have content for and all of it I still have info for in the deep dark crevices of my mind. This was also when I had a TikTok account (that I don’t post on anymore) and this was also the era where my persona changed the most. But out of all of them, Juicehead was my favorite, even if I never inserted her into the Casino Cups cannon.

Oh boy, 2021, the year I came back onto the tmnt 2012 scene, the year I came back to my roots and STAYED there, the year I saw a “I made 9 of these, the first one you see determines your life in tmnt 2012” Instagram post and thought “……..but what if I WAS the Foot Clan?” Well, not at first, at first I was still with the turtles. My characters name was Irene (top), she was a demon who knew black magic, and she was best friends with Mikey (not crushing, this was also the year I decided to just stop crushing on tmnt 2012 characters for reasons I barely know). It wasn’t until that summer that I saw that fateful Instagram post and decided “yep, I like the Foot Clan henchmen now, and that’s how it’s gonna be for the rest of my life.” After that I ditched the demon horns, straightened my ponytail, got a new outfit, and changed her name to Dioxazine (bottom). She was alright, honestly I don’t think I did much with her.

In 2023 we got Comet, my girly, my popstar, my silly little gay. Surprise surprise, Comet used to be my persona/self insert before I decided to make her my oc (however she’s still my projection character). She’s actually been on the scene since 2022! But since then, her appearance been through a some changes from changing her shorts to pants, to shortening her hair, and other small things (if anything I think her lore has gone through the most changes). Either way, she’s a cutie patootie and I love her. This was also the era where my writing skills got better, now everything is less cringe :D👍

And finally, we’ve come to 2024, Sleepy! My persona today! You already know her, her face is a screen, her mask doubles as noise-canceling headphones (for optimal sleep of course), and her socks change every time! She’s in a constant state of being not quite sleepy but not quite awake either and she’s always wearing her jammies, comfy!

Yesterday while searching for information on the Rogue fan mailing list I used to be part of way back in the 90's I came upon Google's archive of Usenet newsgroups. I searched in rec.arts.comics.marvel.xbooks and alt.comics.fan-fiction for my old e-mail address and found several old posts that I don't really remember making. I also searched for my name and found a few people referring to me and the self-insert X-Men fanfic that I had written back then. Specifically this... "(BTW, I'm not a religious person, but I DO know that MYNAMEHERE is going to HELL for the way HE wrote Rogue... <GRIN> )"

I had forgotten how moderately infamous I was in that community. I wonder if any of those folks are active on modern social media and such. It definitely discourages me from ever posting X-Men fanfiction again, especially since my muse only wants to write self-insert stuff. Seriously, I'm up to about 60,000 words after watching the first season of X-Men '97 and being inspired to write a new story in first-person perspective from Rogue's point of view about her somehow coming to our world and landing in my backyard. And of course in both the story from the 90's and this new one I'm conveniently immune to Rogue's powers, which definitely influences her opinion of me.

Lane Alex Banks, the Half-Toy Abomination

So, I semi-recently watched playthroughs of Poppy Playtime Chapter 3, annnnd I liked DogDay, so...decided to try my hand at an SI in the PoP universe.

SPOILERS FOR CHAPTER THREE OF POPPY PLAYTIME UNDER THE CUT.

Lane Alex Banks was a fellow orphan with Casey Kit Jones, and raised in the Poppy Playtime orphanage/onsite Playcare. They were a fellow leader with Casey, and looked up to by most of the kids in the factory, so when the time came for the first round of experiments...Lane was selected. They were meant to become a Bigger Body of a discontinued rave/bat themed toy, but the toy was dropped mid-process/experiment, and Lane was held prisoner deep in Playcare to make sure no one ever saw them.

They eventually escaped during the Hour of Joy, and are the only known child to escape the factory. They returned about ten years later at the age of 25, intent on getting closure about the entire disaster- only to get caught up in the troubles currently taking place in Playtime Co.'s factory.

Random facts about the AU:

Casey Kit Jones eventually became DogDay prior to the Hour of Joy.

Casey and Lane never followed the Prototype, Casey knew CatNap while Lane didn't, so he distracted CatNap so Lane could escape during the Hour of Joy.

Lane had no clue that Casey held off CatNap.

One of the proposed names for Lane's 'toy self' was going to be BabblyBat. Another was 'Party Bat', or 'Rave Bat' (a toy aimed at teenagers).

Lane's skin is discolored to match every location where the toy parts were attached- so around their ears/cheeks, shoulders, and upper back.

Their original hair color (when they were a kid) was blond, but now it's a bright purple.

Lane can hover/fly a few feet off the ground, but due to an intense fear of heights, they almost never use their wings for this purpose.

They have a barcode inked into the skin just below their shoulder, which would have eventually become the barcode of their 'toy'.

Anywhere their skin is discolored feels more like plastic than flesh.

Lane's hearing and sight are heavily increased, which resulted in them wearing sunglasses a lot when out in the day.

Lane can very easily be overwhelmed by intense noise.

They can produce an incredibly painful, high-pitched shriek that can stun opponents for a few seconds.

After finding DogDay in his near-dead state, Lane was able to rescue him.

After escaping the factory, Lane and DogDay end up running an orphanage together. Where and how is yet to be determined.
