you are so real for that post about cas never staying, but I gotta defend dean because he literally does ask cas to stay. s6-s8 all he does is beg cas to stay! in s9 he kicks cas out under duress. I think the actual problem between them is that neither of them wanted to confess being in love first. Cas only does it because he'll die immediately after - and I think there are a lot of reasons why Dean never said it (outside of CW interference) but the tragedy really is how badly and obviously the two of them wanted each other yet they could never find the right words or right time ...

no need to defend dean bc we are in complete agreement! i’m only on s6 in my rewatch however so i didn’t have the receipts to add to my post regarding that dean doesn’t push cas away as much as the fandom likes to pretend. really truly the only time i can remember him actively doing that is during the divorce arc (which i dislike anyway) and it was for pretty valid reasons imo.

on s9: people make a huge fucking deal over dean kicking cas out of the bunker when a) he DID NOT want to do that b) literally pleaded in more than one episode with gadreel on cas’s behalf c) could not fucking stay away from cas after kicking him out and d) apologized after the cat was out of the bag.

oh yeah and cas also completely understood why dean did it and forgave him. anyway the reason i brought it up in the tags is that from cas’s pov, for a short while, it did look like dean was pushing him away. however that arc was by no means the beginning of cas feeling that he’s inadequate to sam and dean and imo doesn’t make a lasting impression on him.

i kind of agree with your assessment that neither wanted to confess first, and raise you: dean did but didn’t think that angels were capable of loving the same way he did (from the mouth of jackles himself). i think that both of them kind of terminally existed in a state of “i’ll take whatever i can get from him” which is why we see them engaging in domestic and emotional intimacy constantly but never physical throughout the show.

it really is a tragedy that neither of them were ever on the same page while dean was alive.

It's said earnestly, tearfully. It always is. Nothing ever changes about these words. About his face. It feels like Dean's watching a recording, rewinding it time and time again. But it's not the same.

There's no longer the imminent fear of Death. He hears Billie outside, but he knows she'll never make it through. The building presence of the Empty, burned so vividly into his mind, will never arrive. He's not sure if this is crueler or kinder. They're stuck in this back and forth. These same few minutes. Nothing more and nothing less.

Something leaves Dean's mouth. He's not sure what. He doesn't care anymore. Nothing he says is ever his own. It's some news. Of a world that's been passing by without him. He's just the mouthpiece of whatever is happening. Sometimes it would be small, innocuous things. Someone's birthday. Maybe a show is returning. Sometimes it's something big, life changing. Global news. Something he would've cared about a long time ago. Everything blends together now.

He wants to say something else. Do something else. Every time, his mind rolls with possibilities. Of what he could do. Of reaching out. Breaking this format. But- Dean remembers Cas's hand on his arm, and fear run cold through his veins again. There's so much he needs to say to Cas. So much he yearns to do. But one wrong step can rip this from him. At least here, it's just him and Cas. Everything else is set dressing. He doesn't have to worry about Chuck or Jack. He doesn't have to worry about what Sam would think. Here, he can cherish Cas's face. His voice. His words.

He wonders if Cas knows. If he's been stuck like Dean. Most days he fears this is some awful dream. The trappings of some witch or other awful thing. It would make the most sense. But there's no way to know for sure. He doesn't know if he wants this Cas to be real or not. Cas doesn't deserve the torment, of living his last moments over and over like this. Stuck here with Dean, who can only parrot someone else's words. Cas doesn't deserve this, but Dean doesn't want to be alone.

Dean looks into Cas's eyes. They shine with an awful combination of joy and grief. He feels something on his tongue. Not words being dragged out of his mouth, puppeteered by something unseen, but words of his own. Words he's been dying to say for daysweeksmonthsyears- so long. It would be so easy. To open his mouth and speak. He's begun rehearsing it in his head. Keeping himself sane yet driving him further towards insanity. Dean just has to open his mouth and-

He blinks.

"I love you."

And a stranger's words are already pouring from his mouth.

I've never watched a single episode of spn but I've been thinking about the implications of being stuck inside a meme

When I first got here, I came across Cas-focused meta writers who seemed so logical and confident but were so off on Dean. Like off in a way that felt hard to argue! I was never able to put my finger on why before discovering your blog. I felt so powerless. There were a few prolific Casgirls with a vested fetish in abusive Dean and you helped me find the Casgirls I vibe with more. There seem to be so many pro-Dean Casgirls that speak up so much more now!

There was this weird thing going on for a while where a small group of people seemed to think they got to decide what everyone talked about on a given day on spnblr and if you didn’t fall in line with their agenda, they’d reblog your original posts no one forced them to read to add the most obnoxious, catty, passive aggressive commentary and their friends would also dogpile. There was already a destielblr split transpiring over that when I started posting more frequently again/doing more meta writing (post The Winchesters). It was very refreshing to see people who actually like the show and Dean talking about the show together and setting boundaries with bloggers who thought having like 1000 followers gave them the right to control spnblr. Gave me a much more refreshing place to land when I came back all fired up to start hissing and biting. 😂 Glad to help continue what new (and old) pals started <3 The tag catalog has been a fun project and despite the The Deancrit Destiel Wars I have had the time of my life with all of you. ♥️

In light of a very kind, self proclaimed heller anon that I had, I was inspired to make a post about shipping/fictional writing in general.

I am very much a “ship and let ship” kind of person. The only places I draw a line are with children and beastiality. Same with regular fiction. If it’s something that makes you happy, or makes you cry (if that’s what you want) or makes you feel what you need to feel from reading it then you should be allowed that, and no one should judge you for it.

Some things can be very dark, but that’s nothing to shame a person for either. Reading a fictional story is very different from something being enacted in real life. Just because you enjoy reading it, doesn’t mean you wouldn’t be appalled in a real life situation.

Reading fiction is meant to be an escape into fantasy away from the pressures, stress and mundane of your normal life. It allows you to “experience” different ideas and perspectives. Imagine life or situations in a different way. Nothing about that should be bad or shameful.

When it comes to shipping though, there’s another layer to add when the ships are RPF, or based on characters that are on screen. That layer is the fact that there are real people at the core of those ships. Real feelings, real reputations.

I think some shippers these days tend to forget that, or just not care. If the actors/actresses are open to the ship and comfortable being involved in discussing it or being involved with it. Then by all means, have fun with that. (Within reason of course, being respectful still matters).

When they are not comfortable with it though, please, please, please, respect that. No one is saying you can’t read or write it or even discuss it, (by all means, have at it, enjoy it!) but leave the actor/actresses alone about it. Just because they are famous, doesn’t mean they lose the right to respect and boundaries. Don’t shame them if they dare to speak against it or disagree with your take on it.

Of course, for me, all of this comes with the idea of Wincest/Destiel and all other SPN related ships in mind. However, it holds true for all of the many, many ships that exist.

I would gladly befriend any heller or wincestie that is respectful, without hesitation. It’s not about WHAT you ship, but what you DO with it. ♥️

I am new to the Spn universe. Right now i am in season 5... and i love the chemistry between Jensen and Jared. The relationship between Sam and Dean is soo unique, beautiful and tragic at the same time.

Unfortunarly i bumped into a few destiel blogs... well i was a little curios and did read a few of them. Which let me a little confused... i mean that some "fans" make things up or interprete to much into the simple things. But from what i saw, it was always clear that Sam is Deans first priority more over his favourite person. Like they are literally soulmates. Soo i was wondering, since you watched all 15 seasons. Like are there any moments where you would think destiel is a real thing? Because this would be soo out of character. I can't imagine that Dean would ever put anyone before Sam. Soo i am a little nervous because i don't want to see any of this destiel sh*t. I am here for the brothers and their dynamic. So i hope the focus of the show is one Sam and Dean nothing else... maybe you can tell me?
