         they lingered in the moonlit grove, hidden from the salvatore estate’s prying eyes. while it was easy to compel anyone who might see something, she didn't want to risk it. furthermore, this hidden love affair provided a nice thrill. katherine's eyes rested on damon who had sought her after probably seeing her walking through the gardens.

        his boyish smile, the way he rolled up his sleeve with such casual vulnerability, stirred something in her—a flicker of warmth she rarely let surface. damon was hers in a way stefan never fully was (even though she wished it to be different): eager, pliant, his human heart beating with a devotion that amused and endeared her. she loved him, yes, but it was a playful love, distinct from the soul-deep pull she felt for his brother.

        her lips curved into a teasing smile as she stepped closer, her gaze locking with his. "oh, damon,” she murmured, her voice like velvet, laced with a hint of mischief. "always so willing to bare your wrist for me." she reached out, her fingers brushing lightly over his offered skin, feeling the pulse beneath. "'take what you need', you say? how generous." her eyes sparkled with delight. sometimes damon could be too much, suffocating even. nonetheless, she enjoyed his limitless devotion.

         katherine stifled a giggle as she clutched damon’s book to her chest, her swift snatch leaving him blinking in amused disbelief. damon’s voice followed her, laced with that half-laugh she adored, and she glanced back, her brown eyes sparkling with mischief. she loved this game, the way it lit him up, though she kept her steps light, mindful of giuseppe salvatore slumbering upstairs – no need to rouse the old man and spoil their fun.

        "oh, damon," she whispered, her tone a teasing hush as she spun to face him, the book a prize in her grasp. "mercy’s overrated, especially when i can steal your focus so easily." her lips curved into a impish grin, catching his fond smile and she tilted her head, letting her curls bounce. "stealing what you’re fond of? guilty as charged," she murmured, her voice low, "but you make it too tempting."

        katherine backed toward the door, "maybe i just wanted to see if you’d chase me, damon". he reached for the book gently but she held it just out of reach. "charm it from me? do you think that'd be successful?" she teased. || @crowsalvation

           "damon", she purred, his blood dripping from her lips and chin as her brown eyes laid on him. "you know i would never seriously harm you, don't you?" she asked; her tone sweet and almost innocent.

          "don't be afraid. it's okay." she reached out, her fingertips caressing the obvious bite mark on his neck. "do you want me to heal you?"

           a soft moan escaped her lips as she felt a hickey forming on the side of her delicate neck. this would not be visible for a long time, the dark spot was healing up a little later and it tingled slightly as it did. his words were also music in her eyes and she smiled, her hand raising to place it against his cheek.

          "does that sound like you're finally ready to defend your position from my other suitors?" her tone was teasing, and her thumb brushed over his bottom lips.

          "or will your will and desire disappear as soon as the sunlight illuminates the room?" she leaned in and kissed him intensely, her hips rolling softly into his. "i like this side of you, stefan."

          katherine lifted her gloved hand to stefan's cheek, her gaze never leaving his beautiful green eyes.

          "you are everything to me, stefan. i'm happy whenever i see you, i'm joyful whenever we spend time together. you are important to me and that will never change because you mean a lot to me." it's hard for her to say 'i love you', especially because it didn't seem to fit in the moment (wouldn't it be too much?).

        katherine was surprised to find stefan at her door at this hour. they did not have a date and in general she had not expected to receive a visit this evening. the brunette vampire had an extremely light sleep, which is why she had woken up by the knock on the door very soon.

        "what is the matter, stefan?", she whispered before she made way so he could enter her room. it's better than talking in the hallway and also more discreet.

        "has anything happened?", she frowned as she watched stefan, not sure what he meant by saying that he didn't know where else to go.

        "i know..." katherine whispered between placing kisses down damon's throat before she nipped on his collarbone playfully. anything to focus his mind elsewhere. it's early in the morning and the estate is still asleep which she wants to take to her advantage. and right now, she certainly didn't want to spend the time talking.

        her palms moved smoothly down his arms until her delicate fingers wrapped around his wrists and pinned them down onto the mattress. her lips moved back up to his jaw. "i promise we'll leave mystic falls soon. then we don't have to hide anymore." she mumbled before kissing his lips. "now relax and enjoy..."

        the smile on her lips revealed how much his words meant to her. stefan meant a great deal to her, more than a human being should mean to her; she longed for his affection, longed for his love. hearing that he wanted to keep her meant that he chooses her. her, and not his father's wishes. her, not some other random girl (how important was the founding family of a small town? - it meant nothing outside the local border).

       katherine raised her gloved hand and let it rest on his cheek. "you will always keep me. even if i cannot be close to you, you will have a part of me. no one, not damon, not your father, will come between us. i promise."

         behind the quiet outer facade of mystic falls were more secrets than one might think. it had been pearl who had warned her about its inhabitants usage of vervain; something that was a worrying development. katherine was also aware that her time in mystic falls was coming to an end, even if she did not want to admit it completely. stefan wasn’t ready yet, he needed more time to adjust to the prospect of vampirism.

         one morning, as katherine was still in her room and maintaining her rich curls, a servant informed her that someone was here and wished to speak to emily – something that was highly unusual.

         of course, katherine agreed to receive the visit, also to make sure that emily was not threatened by any danger. it's part of the deal they made. katherine's protection in exchange for emily's magic.

         as katherine came down the stairs, dressed in a baby-blue dress, she already took her time to (politely) observe the stranger, a woman unknown to her.

         "good morning. i was told you wanted to talk to emily. may i ask in what matter you want to speak with her?" she finally came to a halt in front of the woman and eyed her with interest. "don't worry, i'm not interested in details. i'm just a bit protective of her."

        "if you were to ask me theoretically if i would accompany you theoretically, i would answer theoretically with 'yes'," katherine stated, a little smile playing along her lips. she believes that she has made it pretty obvious that she wants him to ask her to accompany him to the ball but she's not sure if he is selfish and confident enough. first, because damon is interested in her and will definitely ask her soon, and second, because she doesn't know how he feels about officially accompanying the girl his family has taken in.

          katherine smiled as his collar was flawless again although she didn't miss the chance to brush her delicate fingertips over the material again. such an innocent touch and yet it made katherine smile brightly. she enjoyed being with stefan, he ignited a spark in her she hadn't felt in years -- centuries. "you're welcome" finally letting go of the material, she crossed her hands lightly in front of her body, soft brown hues never leaving stefan's face. letting out a small breath of air, a smile played along her lips which didn't seem to fit with her reply "i fear i haven't been invited. a lady attending an event past sunset without a male escort is not appropriate."
