so anyways, what i wanted to do was...handwritten notes/letters. i genuinely have zero muse for anything in my inbox at this time so, to make up for it when i get back home to my state, i wanted to write letters from my muses to yours. they may be shippy and domestic, rude af, little reminders, Hate Mail, fridge notes, whatever you suggest, etcetc. i'll take pictures/scan them in. but i thought it would be really cool to have something of a personal touch to things, and also a little fun!

i really don't have any i dislike in rp? I dislike greeter threads 6/10 times but thats not really a trope?

look at other blogs for inspo. if you see someone with a theme you really like, look at the original maker of the theme. someone has an aesthetic you like, do things based off it (they do all stars? what if you try planets? They're all pink and animal themed? Okay, what if you do pink and dessert themed!). take ideas from others themes and aesthetics. i hope i dont need to say it but like don't steal things. inspo is not the same as stealing. no one owns an aesthetic but people own their own graphics. so taking the idea of 'space' is one thing, but taking someone's literal graphic is something else.

but like for example:

my pinned post is a mix of @pompedia and @plasticsouled 's ideas.

over half my muse list is because of someone @thcsevoices writes.

my fancy icons were inspired by @tournesolette ( dont use them much anymore but not the point)

my og doc was inspired by @plasticsouled's doc. it's changed since then, but still.

anyway point is: my friends are some of my biggest inspos. look at your friends or blogs you really like, see how they do things, figure out how to incorporate the things that you like into a way that works for you.

I think it’s wayyyy overdone in today’s media not gonna lie. That’s part of the reason why I refuse to ship Agent One and Agent Two together romantically. I see them as two besties who share only one braincell between them.

A trope I dislike: fruity slut gays. It's been done to death, it's a narrow slice of the gay experience as a whole and I think it's generally played in a boring way. That's my biggest complaint about it honestly.

OC I'm proud of: I'm very proud of Audrey of course, she's my gal, but I'm particularly fond of one of her on and off again compatriots: Richard "Big Dick" Grant, a South African ex-merc turned supernatural big game hunter. At 6'4" he lives up to his name (with a personality to fill in any space that might have been missed) and even though passing middle age a decade ago has softened his profile, it hasnt dulled his edge as the necklage of mongolian death worm teeth he wears will attest. He's got a bit of osteomancy magic but mostly relies on being incredibly skilled in tracking and strategy to get the job done and it's earned him an impressive collection of heads on his wall. He's currently trying out a cozier contract gig as Han's second in command and goon wrangler. Idk if he'll ever show up on Tumblr as more than an occasional mention but he's been very fun to develop.

Fondest rp memory: getting to meet you honestly, that day and everything that's come of it has been a turning point in my life that I treasure.

The ones that immediately come to mind are romance related things. Like insta-love, love triangles, romantic love = humanity, 🤢🤢🤢 Those tropes can stay way over there, and I will be way over here with the things I do like.

Easiest thing to do is a wayward commlink call through my askbox. I cannot tell you how many muses and muns I've connected with that just started with a simple "hey I randomly caught your signal, who is this?" Sometimes you wanna test the waters before committing to a whole scenario.

Second easiest thing is to just message me! Either through my askbox or messages. We can see if there's a certain set-up we wanna do, maybe you've got a little plot you want to put into motion, whatever. Don't worry about coming to me with a plan in mind. I'm all about throwing idea spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks lol

I also try to post/reblog starter calls every once in a while (so long as I'm not swamped with stuff) so if reaching out to strangers is hard for you, just like one of those and then I'll come to you instead 👍

This one is MOSTLY a joke but also kinda not... if you have the need or desire for something or someone to get beat up....... I will usually be up for that. Look, we can talk about it at the very least 😂😅

Satellite Love Interest

//I do not like it if a character's only distinct trait is to simply provide romance (ESPECIALLY HETERO ONES) to characters. It's crummy to just...write a character to randomly fall in love with someone cuz romance is idealized in media. And then that said someone doesn't do much beyond the smoochies.

//Though it is nice if the satellite love interest ends up developing their own personality~! Always gotta find a perk in some situation! Also I should add I don't like it when folks assume that just 'cause two characters care for each other doesn't mean romance! Especially in the cases of mentor/mentee and siblings. Goodness gracious, unbalanced power dynamics and in.cest isn't my cup of tea. Platonic bonds should be appreciated more...and I need to remind myself of that too!

Don't get me wrong I'm all for tragic villains and redemption arcs but here's the thing, it has to make narrative sense and the character has to earn their second chance, being a skinny white guy or having a popular queerbait ship doesn't cut it

this is a permanent interaction call. i know i said i'd switch to an interest check instead, but it seems better to use both! i have a bit of a hard time reaching out either way, and the reason is largely because i'm worried i might be bothering people in some fashion - yes, even if we have thirty plotted dynamics and have been friends for ten years. what can i say, i'm a lil weiner.

I actually met about three of my long term writing partners. We met up in Canada, Chicago, and for a concert! In all of those instances we did touristy things together, talked about the communities we met in/were active in/gossip, and idk. I would consider one of them a very close friend who I can go without speaking to for 6 months but we pick it back up like no time passed at all. And funny enough this person I had a rocky relationship with to begin with but we both kinda grew up together online so we definitely both experienced a major character development xD

There are but I cannot think of any other than the fwb to lovers trope. I am not really a fan of that one. But I think that's largely because I write the kinda muses that are like 'ok love at first fucking sight' types. I am a romantic and I want all the gooey romance : (

Forgive me as I don’t know tropes by name... Generally, I think that almost every trope can be salvaged in some way if the writer is clever enough to know how to believably twist the trope and use it smartly.

However, I the one trope I’ve always disliked is the Mary Sue and all of the spin-off tropes connected to that type of character. I’m sure there’s a way of salvaging a Mary Sue, but chances are, unless the writer is purposely crafting a Mary Sue for a clever twist, that’s just not going to happen.

I won’t say that Mary Sue is only a trope stumbled upon by the unknowing and amateur writers (though this is most often the case). But usually, this is a trope used unknowingly and only writer maturity and shift in perspective can cure it.

[Hmmm.... tbh, I've never really been a big love triangle fan, but I don't know how uncommon that is. I've also never really thought about romance or shipping much as the forefront of things, but I think judging by the content I've written (with you especially lol, fellow fambily writer), it's pretty obvious that I'm much more invested in writing platonic and familial relationships - and even enemies and rivalries - than I am romance. (Not that I dislike shipping, of course, and I'll write romantic things very very occasionally, but it's not really my thing.)

For the Earthbound/Mother series in particular, I've said in the past that I'm not a big fan of the overly yandere way they portray Tony or the overly cold and stoic way they tend to portray Jeff, though it's gotten better from what I've seen. I've also, uh, never really gotten the hype around interactions from the protagonists from all 3 games together. I don't see it working out much timeline-wise, and I'll be honest, I don't really get or like N/esscas or C/lausten... at all. Most of the interactions of the protags tend to be for shipping fodder from what I've seen.

And tbh, I think there's so much potential for showing the dynamic between the party members of all 3 games and how they're friends and found family and stuff like that, and it's something I'd like to see more instead of just... shipping and modern aus, lol...]
