oh man, i gotta think this one through.

so, for me, im so open to any sort of writing. i love writing romantic plots, found family or mentor/mentored relationships, friendships, toxic plots, etc. this isn't an unpopular opinion, but my no-go is always random smut prompts or fetish content. that's honestly an easy answer.

however, a genuine one for me? i'll list a few, but it's like ... savior complex ships. "I can fix him/her!" type threads. ships that only exist for one person to fix the other. that, i have a big ick for. i also HATE doing ships where one is just "woe is me, please soak up all of my baggage for me" where i end up being somebody they dump ALL of their angst and vents to.

i cannot stand holding up somebody's baggage. both in writing and in person, because i've had it happen so many times where ships i've written go nowhere. it's just emotional baggage! i'm not your fucking therapist! like, i know it's harsh, but i'm here to write with people and grow with my muses and cool ships with people, not to turn this into a therapy session where i end up being dumped all of this baggage because me existing is me consenting to being given all your tears.

to give a specific example, a ship that has nothing BUT angst threads, angst plots, angst asks, and just absolutely no joy to forward the progress of a ship is what i mean. this also applies to those savior complex ships; i cannot stand threads or plots where it's only having one character "fixing" the other in how THEY see them.

and no, i don't call this bad if i'm asked for a shoulder to lean on or for some advice on something personal, that i think is good to just ask for help - this is different. this is when i'm told about multiple situations or if all of those are filtered in writing through their characters and that's all they have - angst. there's no good character, no personality, no quirks, no nothing. it's JUST angst. i've had this happen to where i just don't tolerate it. i'm turned off by it and i don't want to write with you anymore if it does happen. i am not an emotional sponge where i suck up your trauma.

and i will admit, i was like this. i lost friends over this and i've adjusted to being better than that and found healthy ways to fix those habits. this is just bad behavior that does not paint roleplaying in a good light, nor does it paint others in a good light when people see it.

some people on here only complain to complain and NEVER do anything to change it. like, when the NSFW ban happened, the amount of people that i saw that cried about wanting to leave; any CHANGE or UPDATE that happened to some of the features to Tumblr that made people just. start threatening to burn down the site or spam their ticket system with bullshit to make them change it.

some of yall scream "i am the biggest loser in losertown" and it fucking shows.

like, i see this in so many situations, both with personal blogs AND in the RPC on Tumblr where a new change happens and suddenly, everyone's up in arms, complaining and screaming at AIR. changes happen. hell, i'd say that these recent changes to help improve Tumblr have helped in regards to making posts & the consistency in a lot of areas like showing posts, drafts, etc., but i don't see anyone talking about that!

and i know that this doesnt apply to everyone. i'm not vaguely calling out any mutuals here but i see this kind of attitude outside of tumblr and into social media in general. though, the stubborn attitude of "i cant handle change" on here is so prominent with some users, even if its a change that was bound to happen. some people just bag their heads and refuse to face the fact that this beloathed site is changing.

and i will admit, ive had myself get frustrated at some changes, but i work to get used to it because i KNOW its bound to happen. this site needs updates. but jesus christ, people complain just to complain and its so annoying when its REPETITIVE.

i have so many words about animation in general and its use in movies. recently, ive come to realize while talking to a couple friends with how valuable and important animation is to movies, and they're just shoveled to the ground. animation is one of THE hardest skills and methods of art, yet the people behind animating are almost always shat on.

like, some of my favorite movies as a kid are getting these "remakes" or remasters, and theyre fucking ass. they're going for a 3D "real life" look without considering 2D animation and putting in the time and effort to allow that process to happen. companies want it done cheap, and we as an audience dont want that.

idk, im very passionate about animation and movies in GENERAL about it, but it's gone down the cheap end lately. like, 10 years ago, there were so many wonderfully animated movies, and suddenly we're ............ rewinding?? what happened??

OH this is gonna be so good to talk about.

so with fandom spaces, i genuinely believe they have gone to the shitter when quarantine hit, and it has skewed a LOT of our own mental health to a much lesser expectation than how it is right now. and i hate to say this like it's judgmental, but there's people who do NOT understand fandom spaces and they inherently invaded those spaces, changing what that whole expectation is for fandoms and communities in general.

it kills the creativity. people are expected to be perfect at their skillset. there's no more of a positive approach to bringing a community together to help one another. remember how we used to advocate against cyberbullying? it's more prominent than EVER.

that alone i think is the biggest failure since quarantine. that we've NORMALIZED cyberbullying, and that's why you hear a lot of "drama" between people; it is quite literally a result of cyberbullying and isolation to some degree and making direct insults and jokes about people as a way to demoralize them and then turn around to paint the person as a monster and the accuser as a victim (an example: Kane Carter & Theft King, Ohmwrecker and all of his bullshit with the Vanoss Crew & Terrorizer and Markiplier, UrbanSPOOK, Sneako, etc.)

this same thing also applies to other artistic spaces like writing, art, film, etc. the idea of criticism about art pieces and works in fandoms has turned into insulting and degrading others but masked as "criticism" that's often not asked for. it's such a mess and it has only gotten WORSE since quarantine. sure, you could argue this in saying that people in fandoms have been like this since day 1, but not to this extent. not this violent and miserable.

it's why i don't ever approach certain fandoms or communities because they normalize the negativity and misery. they normalize cyberbullying. it sucks to see it, but we still got a chance to turn that around. right now, it's just ... a mess in a lot of places.

treating new mutuals, especially in DMs or private servers, like you have been best friends since middle school and know everything about each other is VERY weird and an overstepping of boundaries

lemme explain

i had an experience where a mutual had advertised a discord server for people interested in an event they were hosting. i joined, wanting to get into the event as a new mutual. however, i was met with the weirdest approach and introduction via people asking one another who posted an invite. i ended up getting roles to speak in the server and get into the event before i was brought into one of the venting channels.

there, i was suddenly dropped on the most drama i have ever heard about one person that i NEVER met before and was given screenshots of this person who had been in their server months prior. keep in mind that i BARELY knew these people and was only new mutuals with one of these people. i unexpectedly digested all of this information and was kind of just........ weirded out.

the very next day, i was booted out and hard-blocked by this mutual without warning. i dont know what else happened but that is a scenario where suddenly dumping drama and gossip with someone who JUST joined is fucking weird. it's very weird and very invasive in a way. i was given all of this like i was best friends with these people and expected to respond the way they did (all of them had matching profile pictures and similarly written usernames in unique fonts; it gave off red flags for me).

i know for people on here, looking for friends is great! its good and getting to know the other person is exciting, but immediately jumping the gun in a friendship, in my experience, is very weird and is often times overwhelming. and in a situation like this, the first impression i got was this group of friends were very knee-deep in gossip and would still talk about people, even after months of not being apart of said group. bad impressions are not good, especially when you're JUST getting to know the other person.

some people might have a weird look on children of canons, but me? i fucking love them. i love children of canons! i love child OCs! i think they are an absolutely amazing start for making characters.

people will have distaste for child OCs of canon characters, which is fair, but i cannot judge because i make them too. a small chunk of my own OCs are child OCs of canon characters. my hardest fixated OC is a child OC! that's really my only unpopular opinion because i actually like them. i'm not sure what the majority would say in fandoms, but like ... i love them. i think they're awesome for opening up a new path for a canon's story with more to it.

i dunno, i don't understand the hate to children of canons. most of it is judging the lore & story of said characters, which anyone can do. i get it, but like .. i just got no hate for them. i love em!
