Someone is secretly in love with Jeff. Who is it and how does he feel about them?

[ It's Tony, though that's really not much of a secret for most people who know the two of them. Tony's very verbal about his affection for Jeff and shows it in his actions as well: he fusses over Jeff like a parent would, gives him lots of physical affection and compliments, and spends all of Earthbound worrying about Jeff's safety and begging Ness and party to make sure he's okay.

The Chosen Four know that Tony likes Jeff, as I'm sure a fair portion of the boys at Snow Wood do, too. Jeff doesn't have a clue.

However, the feelings are mutual. Jeff has always cared deeply for his best friend, but didn't really grasp that the feelings were romantic until the War Against Giygas. He'd like to tell Tony how he feels, and tried to stutter it out in Stonehenge, but he was so anxious he couldn't go through with it. ]

Betelgeuse: What’s something you can never forget about? 

"I mentioned the happy feelings when we went to go fight Giygas, though the other side of this was that I can't forget the feeling before and during that battle with it, either. Every time I think about that operation we had to endure in order to go into the Phase Distorter, the Cave of the Past... even looking at the Phase Distorter... it gives me this icy feeling down in my stomach and I get dizzy and can't think straight.

That tension is something that creeps up sometimes, especially after a nightmare, so unfortunately I can't forget that fear quite yet."

Asteroid: What does your dream life look like? 

"Well... I'd like to help people somehow. I know I've been told I'd make an excellent engineer, but I think I'd like a career that I know really impacts others... So I would be doing that.

I'd also like to always be close with Ness, Paula, and Poo. And Tony, of course. And besides them... I'd like to have a family, I think. Even if I don't think I'd be the best parent, I know I wouldn't want to live alone. Oh, and I'd like a lot of pets."

Shooting Star: If you could bring back one thing, what would it be? 

"I'm not certain... in terms of things, maybe the submarine I got to pilot? Though I don't know where I'd keep it. Perhaps... some more detailed records of when and where I was born, and who my family members are. I have no idea who my mother is, either... that information I really would like to know."

Betelgeuse: What’s something you can never forget about?

"I don't think I can ever forget the feeling after defeating Giygas. The way we all sort of fell into unconsciousness, so easily succumbed to this feeling of nothing, I really thought it was the end. I wasn't as scared as I thought I would be. Maybe it was because I and my friends somehow knew that Giygas was gone right after that final attack from nowhere.

But after that blackness, I still clearly remember feeling the sun on my face - my real face, not the robotic one - and opening my eyes, and I was lying on the ground in Saturn Valley. That feeling of... I have to say it was euphoria, it got all of us. Ness and Paula and Poo and I all hugged so tightly, and we all cried...

It's the happiest I think I've ever been."

"No... but I was very frightened that I would, once. I've come closer to it than I ever would have liked.

During the War Against Giygas, several people were kidnapped, and, for reasons we're still uncertain of, were trapped underneath Stonehenge in tubes full of an unknown green substance. They were kept in suspension, but it looked like if we had taken too long to get to them, they could have..."

The boy trails off, uncomfortably shifting on his feet.

"As you can surmise, Tony was one of those people."

"I... suppose it is. Before I ran away from Snow Wood, I thought I'd always be compared to him. Everyone there knows him, you know. And I'd never met him until a few weeks ago.

It's really nice to get away from all of it. Being Jeff instead of being Dr. Andonuts' son. I wouldn't have met my friends if I hadn't run away. That includes you."

In order to cheer Hilda up, Jeff offers her a kind smile, and offers his hand in case she wants to hold it.

The man scowls, crossing his arms. At this point in his life, Dr. Andonuts (the first one) had been missing from Jeff's life far, far longer than he'd been around - in the sense that he had really gone missing when he was sixteen. He had to admit, however, the Pokey was right. As he'd gotten older and gotten to a healthier weight, his features had rounded, and recently his hair at begun to gray at the roots and gotten curlier, like his father's. It was easier to tell now that they were father and son compared to when Jeff was a child.

"We both know that whether or not we look alike, we don't act similarly. Having interacted with both of us in a violent sense, you should know that more than anyone."

what kind of music does jeff like?

[ While I think Jeff enjoys electronic music a la Daft Punk, especially as he gets older, I also really enjoy the amount of music that the Earthbound soundtrack uses and samples, and I try to incorporate that into the kids' music tastes.

Ness and Jeff are both big Beatles fans, and Jeff also really likes The Who. I also think Ric Ocasek's Keep on Laughin' is one of Jeff's favorite songs. Ness is more the Beach Boys fan, which is why Deirdre plays in the Cave of the Past since Giygas is obsessed with him, lol. ]

"Well, that's a more difficult question than it really appears; I have several best friends. If you asked me between Ness, Paula, and Poo which one of them was the best friend, I couldn't possibly tell you.

So I hope it's no offense to them, because they're all as close to me as family, but... Tony.

It's fair - I've known him the longest! And we've been best friends since we were six. But we're so close, Tony almost doesn't count. He's just... the best."

[ Jeff isn't much tempted when it comes to vices like greed or power. None of the Chosen Four are, I think, and their strong will in that area is why they were probably chosen in the first place.

However, following rules is something that Jeff is not the best at, especially when they conflict with what he thinks is best. He doesn't have much moral qualms with stealing chemistry equipment, for example, because he justifies it with the idea that he's using it for a just cause.

And yes, he did end up stealing from the Snow Wood science lab to make another invention project, and was very peeved when caught and put in detention for it. ]

What sort of diet does Jeff eat? Is he a vegetarian? Does he like meat? Does he prefer fresh foods, restaurant meals or instant meals?

[ Though Jeff cares deeply about the welfare of animals, he's not a vegetarian; in fact, he really enjoys meat-based dishes. I've mentioned it before, but Jeff really does not like overly sweet or rich foods, so he doesn't tend to eat much desserts that aren't on the lighter side. He really enjoys savory or salty flavors.

Snow Wood's meals, I imagine, are pretty decent, considering it's a prestigious boarding school, but there's something about a home cooked meal that Jeff really enjoys - maybe it's that he doesn't get them often, or that they feel fresher. But those are his favorite - he does like an instant meal or an unhealthy snack, though, since they're great conveniences when he invents late into the night. ]

"Merry Christmas, son! I know it's a little early, but I'm thought you might want a chance to use these with your friends when you go see them."

For Jeff, Shy has a VR headset and gloves, some new clothes and shoes for school as well as winter outfits, a few games for his switch (including the new Pokémon), the standard candy and gift cards, and a LOT of books on AI development. There's also a pile of fake fur?

"To explain that last one, I thought maybe I could make a furry exosuit for the robotic pet you were making? Whatever you decide to create, you'd still be able to pet something soft and fuzzy."

Christmas

Whenever Jeff had stayed as a guest with others or at Snow Wood during his childhood, he'd always watched the children run down the stairs, ecstatic for Christmas morning and the gifts they would receive. Jeff himself, even as a very small child, could never relate to the same elated feeling, always feeling left out or like he shouldn't be intruding, at least until now.

Under Shy's roof, he really did belong, and for the first time he eagerly ran to the tree, his mother in tow, to trade gifts.

Though something that wasn't new was the wave of emotion Jeff got upon seeing how many of these nice things really were for him, after years of being an afterthought to those whom he stayed with.

Trying to wipe away his tears, Jeff brought Shy into a tight embrace.

"Mum... thanks so much! I'll show you all I've done when I finish my robotic cat I've been building!"

After he'd spent some time with the books (and the video games), of course.

Immediately afterwards, he takes a rather untidily-wrapped present and hands it to his mother.

"This is for you. Happy Christmas, and thank you for everything."

Inside was a small device, around the size and weight of a small remote. It was flat with just a screen, but it lit up with little buttons on it when Jeff pressed it.

"I built it myself with some spare parts the electronics store was throwing away. It's like a walkie talkie or a phone... but without all the worries about distance or international fees. I thought... we could keep in touch this way while I'm at school, everyone here with me..."

Plot me, headcanon me!!

Headcanon me: Send this and I will give you a few headcanons regarding our characters and their connection or verses that we have together.

Plots:

Jeff in the Smash Kitchen! With his knowledge of chemistry, he might have the chops to try a little baking. Maybe a certain peach boy or the Waddle Dees could help him.

Jeff wanting to make himself stronger and training in the Smash Dojo that's owned by Ana and Kat! He's also eager to show off his weapons and ability to Spy in battle.

Maybe something in the Metaverse for Morgana and Persona verse Jeff? I have stuff in mind for a Dr. Andonuts palace, or some training in Mementos.

Headcanons:

Jeff bugs Morgana to see if they can communicate with other animals. If it works, maybe he can make a device to hear animals' thoughts.

Momo and Jeff visit each other when they're in the Smash medical wing, especially when Momo's there during the winter. I know we talked about that before, but it's a sweet hc.

Jeff has a little experience helping braid hair - his friend Maxwell that he stayed with had a few sisters, and Paula asked him to do it once or twice. He could try it with Ana!

[ Oh man... the true challenge emerges

Well, my internal monologue and dialogue for voices is something that I'm actually pretty proud of, particularly for Adachi. I think for the two muses I have so far (I'm... very very slowly working on more for the multi), their voices are pretty distinct from each other and, in the case of Adachi, something that sounds close to canon.

I also think I've done a nice job developing these two muses I've had. Jeff has virtually no personality in game besides the crumbs that I took and incorporated in his character, and Adachi is very fleshed out, but his arc to me is more finding out what happens to him now that he's forced to live - or what his life could have been like if he'd taken another path, hence all my AUs - and those I'm really happy with, too. ]
