Abigail Filming Locations

Having just seen the delightful Kathryn Newton at Spooky Empire horror convention in Orlando, it prompted me to make a quick Abigail filming location post.

Figuring out the filming locations of Abigail has been fairly easy, since there are so few.

The vast majority of filming, which was interiors, took place at Ardmore Studios in Wicklow , Ireland (where Wednesday season 2 is currently filming - see my previous blog).

The film starts with Abigail dancing in the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, in Dublin.

She then leaves the Bord Gáis and is picked up for her car ride home.

Abigail is taken to her home where the kidnappers await. This is Lis-na-Carrig in Dublin.

The kidnappers then leave by Lis-na-Carrig's actual front gate. This is curious, since they entered through a different gate, which I can't find but is probably in the same neighborhood. Some have suggested they leave by the side gate, but the side gate lacks the unique curlicue handle clearly visible in the film and the image below.

Then everyone assembles at the final exterior, the remote mansion which is Glenmaroon House, in Dublin:

There are also a few driving / street scenes, which I've left out as they're fairly unremarkable, but if you want to street view them on Google maps, they are Sir John Rogerson's Quay, Herbert Place, Warrington Place, & Kerrymount Avenue - all in Dublin.

I'm working on a Lisa Frankenstein filming location post, but those locations are hard to find. Really hard. And I even used to live in New Orleans, where it was filmed, so that's saying something. I've only found one so far, (Lisa's house) but what else am I going to do during the week, right?

𝐖𝐇𝐎 𝐈𝐒 𝐒𝐇𝐄? abigail corduroy is the younger sister to daniel ‘manly dan’ corduroy and aunt to his four children—wendy, marcus, kevin and gus. like the rest of her siblings, she was raised in gravity falls and was a bit of a wild child in her youth. when she wasn’t getting into shenanigans in the surrounding forest—such as fighting the manotaurs—she would often get into trouble with the law. abbi even went as far to serve some time in juvie, though she would get out at 18 years old and have her record expunged for good behaviour.

𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐎 𝐇𝐄𝐑? ironically enough, after she finally got her GED and driver’s license at 22 years old, abbi decided to go into law enforcement as her career. she made the move to the neighbouring washington state and applied for basic training, her reasoning was that she wanted to explore the country outside her home town and get some experience working in different places. though obviously she would visit her family whenever she could, taking time off to visit her niece and nephews shortly after each of them were born, plus visiting them during the holidays and other special occasions.

𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐈𝐒 𝐒𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐎𝐖? after spending over a decade working as a deputy in various towns in washington, she moved back to gravity falls as a sort of ‘retirement’ as she wants to spend the rest of her working time with her family, plus it was getting a bit boring and she knows how ‘weird’ her home town can be. she happened to move back in the same summer when the twins were shipped off to visit their great-uncle, stan.

I could also mix Abigail into Elizabeth, overlapping casters. Sure, Elizabeth won't be a pure summoner like Abigail is, but I think the groundwork is there and that Abigail isn't as popular a muse as Elizabeth.

It'd be importing Abigail's shenanigans of miss-summoning onto Elizabeth, potentially expanding it beyond summoning mishaps to general magical mishaps.

I could also graft Abigail's background onto Elizabeth's, making her a member of a wealthier family, who still ran away to pursue her arcane interests.

One more OC doodle, this time of my less elusive OC, Cornelius a.k.a Neely. Here's Neely's descrip. I wrote to post on my character thingy:

"Cornelius Wildflower-Stardust is many things. He is an actor of Faerie theater, (a very specific sort of magical theater in which, while watching a play, you feel every single emotion all actors on stage are trying to convey (to a dizzying degree)), an inventor, responsible for the creator of Stardust water, named after his mother Amandine Stardust, and a wiccen-faerie baby, the first in several centuries.

He is also a coward who runs from his problems every second he can. When his Stardust water spell malfunctioned in a small town, deep in the Human society, all that Cornelius did to mend the damage was to help turn the incessant, torrential Stardust rain that insisted on falling, into a drizzle, or a light rain, most of the time. He also helped pioneer the technology that allowed people to manufacture the waterproof clothes most people wear in town... But then he ran to the Faerie Society, far away from Wiccen science and magic, to play actor, and ignore everything…

Or so Abigail Jones thinks."

“Yeah, I've had a few of those," Abigail replied. Dreams were often really fun for her--they brought an escape from mundane life, a place where she could be something more than what she was. Just the daughter of a shopkeeper.

Thinking about some of her more 'awesome' dreams brought a smile to Abigail's lips. "A while ago, I got this really good adventure video game that I played religiously. Literally to the point where I started to have dreams about it. Those were pretty recurring. I was an adventurer in those dreams, traveling in a really cool world and fighting all of these monsters and stuff. It was nice... Honestly, dreams like that made me want to be an adventurer."

She turned her head to glance back at the general store, her home. Her prison. It was an unintentional look, but it read clearly on her face. Abigail wished her family could understand...but for now, she had to deal with it.
