asahi walks through the campus, eyes drooping from the lack of sleep due to studying, which he most definitely did not procrastinate doing, thank you very much.

everyday, hamada asahi finds himself where he is now. his sneaker-clad feet knowing where to go by muscle memory as he watches the people flutter around him.

that one kid that's somehow always late to class and has to run, or how his professor sends a curt nod his way as they pass one another. or even the way he says hello to the librarian, asking her how the day's treating her. it's muscle memory at this point, and if he's being honest, he enjoys having it this way.

oh, and he most definitely enjoys silently passing the table you seem to always be studying at almost every day without fail. yes, you, the y/n l/n.

like asahi, you too were a music major, usually finding yourself seated next to the black-haired boy during class, completely oblivious to his totally discreet longing stares. yeah, not obvious at all!

he's not exactly sure when that happened, ya'know, the "i-most-definitely-have-a-crush-on-you-but-i'm-not-gonna-let-you-know-because-i'm-scared-of-rejection" thing. it's just something about you that tells asahi you're someone special.

like clockwork, he returns yet another nod to his professor as he walks through the bustling hallways of the campus. practically skipping up the concrete stairs, he greets the librarian once inside.

"how's your day been, ms. lee?" he asks, soft smiling never leaving his lips. she smiles back at the young boy, his kindness radiating off of him. "it's been good, mr. hamada. how's yours?" she returns the question, awaiting his answer.

all he does is shrug, eyes falling to the ground, "just tired is all, but good. thanks for asking!" he answers truthfully, eyes scanning around the room in search of you.

attempting to bid his goodbyes to the elder, she cuts him off before he could wander off. "oh! before i forget, y/n isn't here today," she tells him, giving the boy a knowing look.

a soft rose color dusts it's way onto his cheeks, an awkward smile replacing the once genuine one. "w-why should i know that?" he asks, his eyes looking everywhere else but hers. all she can do is chuckle before sighing, "don't lie to me, hamada, i see everything," she jokes while tapping her pointer finger onto her temple.

something about her soft motherly tone causes asahi to let his guard down, allowing a big weight to fall off his shoulders.

"they actually told me they were going to the music room, i doubt they left yet. maybe check there?" she quickly tells him, soft smile never leaving her face. he nods quickly, "thank you, ms. lee!" asahi shouts out before he's shushed by her and a handful of other students.

he cringes inwardly, laughing at his lack of awareness for those around him. "sorry!" he whispers, blush returning to his face. "let me walk you out," ms. lee says softly.

back on the concrete steps, he feels a soft pat on his back, which catches his attention. "tell them how you feel, you never know." she shrugs, shooing him away.

asahi's not sure where this longing to see you and confess came from. maybe it was because of ms. lee's words, or the fact that you aren't where you're usually at. it seems like his brain fries at the fact that this slight difference completely alters his day and mood. it's almost like seeing you is the highlight of his, otherwise monotonous day.

he takes quick strides to the music room, his body going crazy as his feet try to tell him that he's going the wrong way. it almost feels wrong, he should be sat a couple seats away from you and fake studying while taking not-so-slick glimpses at your hunched form, but regardless, he pushes through.

it seems as if the halls have calmed down now, the noise of chatter and nature filling the warm spring air. asahi takes a second to breathe it all in, literally and figuratively.

he closes his eyes, breathing in and out, his hands shaking as he stalks over to the classroom door.

what am i doing? am i really confessing? what if they think i'm weird for following them around? what if they don't like me?

these hazardous thoughts continue to float around asahi's head, his hand never wavering from it's place as it hovers over the door handle. without even making up his mind on what the hell he's even doing, he musters up the courage to open the door.

he opens it quietly, almost as if the door's made of glass as he pops his head inside. low and behold, there you sit, your back's away from the door, your headphones in as you tap your foot along with the whatever beat is playing.

asahi smiles at this, watching you seems to calm him down while simultaneously making his heart beat out of his chest. he opens the door fully, slipping in the quiet classroom like a mouse.

without thinking, which seems to be a reoccurring event for asahi today, he walks up behind you. he once again hovers his hand, unsure whether to tap your shoulder. he ultimately decides to mutter a soft "hello".

his face flushes a soft peach color as he realizes that you didn't hear him so he taps your shoulder causing you to jolt at the sudden movement.

whipping your head toward the person behind the disturbance, your furrowed brows unknot themselves when you lay your eyes upon him.

"oh, hey asahi!" you say enthusiastically, taking your headphones out and placing them on your lap. he points to the seat next to you, silently asking if he can sit. you nod in approval, shy smile plastered on both of your faces.

you both watch one another, a comfortable silence taking over, as eyes graze over the other's features. blushing under his heavy gaze, you sharply inhale before turning away and avoiding eye contact.

"what's up?" you asked. your question pulling asahi back to reality as he looks in your eyes again, trying his best to piece his words together.

he lets out a short, awkward cough before clearing his throat. "well, okay, so it wasn't technically my idea to tell you, not that i didn't want to, i just didn't know how b-but here i am now!" he stumbles over his words.

your lips seal into a pout as you try your best to understanding what he was saying. "i-i'm sorry, i'm not sure what you're talking about." you respond, head tilting in confusion.

"oh, right... i need to elaborate," he thinks out loud before mentally cursing at himself. "y/n, i l-like you. a lot, and i've been meaning to tell you because i thought today was like any other day, but being completely honest not seeing you in the library made me upset," he keeps eye contact with you, watching as your cheeks turn pink.

"yo-you're just someone i really want to get to know and i'd love to take you out on a date sometime. only if you want to though!" he finishes off, eyes leaving yours as they land on the fidgeting hands laying in his lap.

as you try your best to hide your widening smile, you let out a laugh at his cute state. asahi takes this as rejection and nods before attempting to get up from his seat.

although hesitant, you reach for his hand before pulling him back down to leave a soft peck to his cheek. "i thought you'd never ask, asahi!" you say brightly. he looks up and eyes you in confusion. "w-wait, really?" he whispers in disbelief.

you sweetly nod at him, squeezing his hand in reassurance. "quick question though, what do you mean by 'technically not your idea'?" you ask, brows quirked up as you await his answer.

"actually, ms. lee, she told me to tell you how i felt." he answers truthfully. you gasp, placing a hand on your mouth. "really? ms. lee? like the ms. lee?" you ask, he nods before laughing at your bamboozled face.

"i can't wait to tell her all of this!" you say with a giggle.

"oh gosh, please no!"
