this is for my vegans and vegetarians
I’ve only done very cursory research into this but from my understanding it will be incredibly difficult for us non-fish eaters to be getting the appropriate omega-3s (EPA and DHA). we can get ALA from certain foods, and our body can convert that into the other two, but in reality it’s pretty shit at it in basically everyone (there’s some evidence the body starts converting more ALA into the other two in vegans and vegetarians, but there’s not a lot of research on this yet I don’t think). basically all of us should be taking a vegan (so, algae/algal oil, which is where the fish get it) supplement that specifically prioritises EPA and DHA. if anyone has any points on this from more reading they have done, please respond, but this is my current understanding.
omega-3s is especially important in conjunction with the (much easier to find/consume in our modern diets) omega-6s, and the ideal ratio for omega-6:omega-3 is 1:1, but in reality most could do with getting closer to 2-4:1. I don’t know how this breaks down into grams and milligrams per day btw, there will be guides online. our modern diets have some of us having waaay more omega-6s than omega-3s (like a 15:1 ratio) and this is bad because omega-6s are pro-inflammatory and need to be balanced out by anti-inflammatory omega-3s.
I’m going to try and consciously consume less omega-6-heavy things, seeing as it’s easy to consume anyway, and I have ordered an algal oil supplement to help me getting those trickier to consume omega-3s (EPA and DHA). I think most vegans and vegetarians could benefit from starting to do this, because basically all plant-alternative sources of omega-3s sans algae are mostly, if not all, ALA (basically converts nothing into EPA+DHA, and even worse if there is a high presence of omega-6s than there should be, which is true for most people), and loads of naturally occurring plant based omega-3s have omega-6s too, which will further your imbalance.

Day 19: confessions - mist and aether talking about dews transition. Aether thinks she hates him, she doesn’t, and they talk about their feelings
It helps to read this piece and some of the stuff in #wrath’s ghost lore before hand, but it’s not necessary. Just know aether did dews transition.
Thank you to @forlorn-crows as always for this month <3
Warnings for small talks of mortality, it’s kinda angsty but I made it better so.
“How did you-“
“Dewdrop” aether interrupted.
Mist sat under one of the old concrete arches that decorated the back of an abandoned chapel. One of the little ones that primo had used before the clergy grew out of it. Let sit to gather vines and moss. Leaves decorated the pillars, the walkway was full of cracks and so overgrown that it was almost hard to follow.
There was a sense of tranquility in the chaos. The fresh smell of plants and old water that had seeped into the grooves of the concrete made mist feel at ease, nothing to order her around, nothing to remind her of the strict order she was to follow when in front of the other siblings.
“He’s such a snitch” mist snorted. She patted the ground next to her, motioning for aether to join her.
“He told me what happened” aether sighed, leaning back against the structure. He jumped slightly at the cool feeling on his back, before settling in completely.
“How much?”
“Said you went off on him. That you were upset he actually changed his element”
Mist cringed. She brought her knees tight to her chest as dewdrops jacket now felt shameful around her shoulders. Part of her almost wanted to just get up and walk away to avoid the confrontation. She knew dew probably told aether what she said about him, that she had partially blamed him. Words spat in the heat of the moment begging dew just to look at her.
“He told me what you said”
“I’m sure aethers real pleased with his work this time” mist bit
“If omega of all ghouls can fuck up did you really expect me to trust aether?”
“Aether I-“ mist choked. She cringed remembering her own words, bitter tasting in her mouth now that the target of her anger sat next to her.
“Don’t, I understand why you’re upset,” he sighed. The air felt thick around them, a heavy cold that encapsulated them both as the sun went down.
“Yeah but I’m not upset with you”
Mist doesn’t know who she’s upset with if she’s being honest. Maybe herself for feeling betrayed even if dew didn’t pick pride over an animalistic fate like she did. Maybe papa for letting her choose her own reality of not transitioning. Maybe whatever sick divine being cursed them to be like this. None of her feelings seem correct. She couldn’t pick an answer on what’s appropriate to feel about this even if she tried.
“No one seems to be. I kinda hoped you were the one to actually see through this bullshit " Aether threw his head back to rest against the wall, staring up at the dark patches of algae on the top of the arch.
“What do you mean? No one should be mad at you aeth”
“I did that to him, I ruined him”
“You saved him.” Mist turned to face him, a concerned look on her face. A gust of wind cut against the tears in her eyes, making her realize that she had once again started crying.
“He’s not himself anymore mist, so does it even matter?”
Aether sighed, chewing his lip in frustration. The lingering light of the sunset cast a cold shadow on him making him shiver as he moved to stand up.
“He’s more himself than he ever was” mist practically whispered. She gave him a pleading look, motioning him to continue to sit with her.
“He won’t even look at you mist”
“But that’s always been dew. He’s had a fiery personality since he was summoned. I could’ve used his favorite cup and he would’ve ignored me for hours over it”
Aether stopped to stare at her, a puzzled look in his eye.
“I would give anything for him to just talk to me, but that’s my fault anyways. He’s always been a volatile bundle of emotions, it’s just fitting he now has the element to match” she laughed.
There was a rare crack in her pride that made her feel solemn. Asking if she herself made the right decision to stay a water ghoul. The choice between staying true to herself and succumbing to a natural fate or potentially becoming a botched version of herself that was barely mist anymore.
Dew was thriving. He had his scars and sudden outbursts that weren’t exactly there before, but he was happy, and that’s all mist needed to care about.
“I just don’t think I’ll ever forgive myself” aether mumbled, sitting closer to mist while she wrapped the small jacket around his shoulders.
“You will. One day you’ll see how bright his smile has gotten and you’ll realize it was worth it.”

4 solarpunk startups to help the ocean
Dutch startup SEASOGOOD were the first to get fish-free tuna on Albert Heijn’s shelves.
“We can imitate the tuna structure with soybeans, which under pressure and heat get a fibrous structure that, like tuna, ‘falls apart’ a bit. To imitate the taste of tuna, we take seaweed and algae from the sea. In this way, we add omega-3 fatty acids. Many people think that these nutrients are found naturally in fish, but it is in fish because they eat seaweed and algae. We add the food of the fish so we don’t need the fish.”
2. RanMarine, a company based in Rotterdam, has developed innovative drone technology to combat water pollution. Their specialized aqua drones, including the WasteShark and MegaShark, are designed to combat plastic waste and harmful algal blooms in natural swimming waters.
The WasteShark drones, inspired by the wide mouth of a whale shark, have a large storage capacity and can collect up to five hundred kilograms of floating waste daily. These drones are particularly effective in narrow channels and congested areas, such as harbors and marinas, where plastic waste tends to accumulate
3. Dutch start-up The Great Bubble Barrier, captures plastic before it reaches the ocean. The barrier is composed of a tube with holes that releases air bubbles. The bubble curtain creates an upward current which directs plastic to the surface. By placing the Bubble Barrier diagonally across the river, the natural flow of the water will push the plastic waste to the side and into the catchment system. Operating 24/7, the system does not interfere with fishing and shipping activities.
4. Danish start-up All in One Green also captures plastic before it reaches the ocean – but with a robot instead of a bubble curtain. When co-founder Mads Tranders Nielsen visited Melbourne (Australia), he saw huge amounts of garbage floating from a river straight to the sea. “That idea didn’t leave me and once back home I started working with engineers to design a system that does exactly that.” Nielsen founded start-up All In On Green and developed the SeaProtectorOne: a robot that systematically filters river water.

Nutriherbs offers a fantastic solution with their omega-3 capsules, particularly the algae omega-3 capsules, designed for vegetarians and anyone looking for a plant-based source of these vital nutrients.
Understanding Omega-3 Fatty Acids
Omega-3 fatty acids are a type of polyunsaturated fat that is essential for the body. Why Choose Nutriherbs’ Omega-3 Capsules?
Nutriherbs’ omega-3 capsules are a game-changer for anyone looking to boost their omega-3 intake without relying on fish-based products. Here are some compelling reasons to consider these omega-3 vegetarian capsules:

Algal oil is rich in EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), the two most beneficial types of omega-3s. This makes them an excellent choice for vegans and vegetarians seeking to meet their omega-3 needs.

They can help reduce inflammation, lower blood pressure, and improve cholesterol levels, contributing to overall cardiovascular health. Incorporating Nutriherbs’ omega-3 capsules into your daily routine can support your heart's well-being.
Brain Function: DHA, in particular, is a key component of brain tissue and is essential for cognitive function. Studies suggest that adequate omega-3 intake may help improve memory, focus, and overall brain health. Nutriherbs’ algae omega-3 capsules provide a vegetarian-friendly way to support brain function.
Joint Health: The anti-inflammatory properties of omega-3 fatty acids can also benefit joint health. Regular consumption may help alleviate discomfort associated with inflammatory joint conditions, making Nutriherbs’ omega-3 capsules a great addition to your wellness regimen.
How to Take Nutriherbs Omega-3 Capsules
For optimal benefits, Nutriherbs recommends taking one to two omega-3 capsules daily, preferably with meals to enhance absorption. This simple addition to your daily routine can make a significant difference in your overall health.

The discus and Ameca splendens enjoying picking apart some peas. It is a myth that they need higher amounts of meat and protein than other cichlids. The common practice of feeding these fish a diet entirely of beef heart and bloodworms will lead to obesity, bloat, and swim bladder disorder. Their intestine length is longer than most other cichlids, indicating that they eat primarily plants and detritus, and dissections of the stomach contents of over 8,500 fish confirm this.
"The alimentary canal of Symphysodon is characterized by a poorly defined stomach and an elongate intestine, some 300 mm long and 3 mm wide (in a 180 mm SL specimen). This intestinal morphology is typical of a cichlid with a dominantly vegetarian, detritivorous, or omnivorous diet. Predominantly piscivorous cichlids such as Cichla and Crenicichla exhibit shorter alimentary canals with well developed stomachs (Zihler, 1982).
Bleher (2006, p. 510-595) reports detailed observational notes on the diet of discus, taken over many years of field visits to the Amazon basin. He undertook stomach content analyses on over 8,500 discus specimens and also made direct observations of feeding in the wild. Although most of his findings are reported qualitatively, Bleher (2006) presents some quantitative data for the volumetric dietary intake of S. haraldi (although numbers of specimens are not given, p. 593). During the high-water period he reports average stomach contents of: 12% algae and microalgae, 44% plant matter (flowers, fruits, seeds, leaves), 6% detritus, 16% aquatic invertebrates, and 22% terrestrial and arboreal arthropods. During the low water period he reports 25% algae and microalgae, 39% detritus, 9% plant matter, 22% aquatic invertebrates, and 5% terrestrial and arboreal arthropods. Data for S. aequifasciatus and S. discus indicate a larger proportion of algae, plant matter and detritus both for during the low and high water periods."

Discover the Best Omega Capsules in India: Your Ultimate Guide to Omega-3s with Cure Garden
Incorporating omega-3s into your diet can be transformative for your health. These powerful fatty acids, found naturally in fish oil and other sources, are crucial for maintaining heart, brain, joint, and eye health. However, because our bodies can’t produce omega-3s, supplementing with high-quality omega capsules is essential. With so many products on the market, choosing the best omega capsules in India can feel overwhelming. Cure Garden offers a range of premium omega-3 options, and this guide will help you pick the one that best suits your wellness needs.
What Are Omega-3 Fatty Acids?
Omega-3s are essential fatty acids that play multiple roles in keeping your body healthy. There are three primary types:
ALA (Alpha-linolenic acid) – Found in plant-based sources like chia seeds and flaxseeds, ALA is an important source of omega-3 for vegetarians.
EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid) – Known for its anti-inflammatory benefits, EPA is most commonly found in fish oils.
DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid) – Crucial for brain and eye health, DHA is abundant in fatty fish.
Health Benefits of Omega-3 Fatty Acids
Omega-3 fatty acids support multiple areas of health:
Heart Health: They reduce triglycerides, lower blood pressure, and improve overall heart function.
Cognitive Health: DHA is especially vital for brain function, enhancing memory and mental clarity.
Joint Health: EPA helps reduce inflammation and alleviates symptoms of arthritis.
Vision Support: DHA plays a crucial role in retinal health, helping to protect against age-related vision loss.
Adding omega-3s to your daily routine can help you maintain a balanced, healthier life. Choosing the best omega capsules in India ensures that you’re getting the most potent and beneficial formulation.
Key Considerations for Choosing Omega Capsules
The quality of omega-3 supplements can vary widely, so it’s essential to look for products that prioritize purity, potency, and sustainability.
1. Purity Standards
When choosing omega supplements, purity is paramount. Omega capsules can sometimes contain contaminants if sourced from low-quality fish or improperly processed oils. Here’s what to look for:
Third-Party Testing: This ensures the product is free of heavy metals, toxins, and other contaminants.
Purity Certification: Reputable brands will offer certificates of purity to guarantee a safe product.
2. Optimal EPA and DHA Levels
High-quality omega-3 capsules will list specific concentrations of EPA and DHA, as these are the components that deliver the health benefits.
Recommended EPA: Aim for 300-600 mg per serving for cardiovascular support.
Recommended DHA: 200-400 mg per serving supports cognitive and visual health.
Choosing supplements with well-balanced levels of EPA and DHA can maximize their impact on your health.
3. Sourcing and Sustainability
Omega-3s are often sourced from fish, but they can also be derived from algae for a vegan-friendly option. Sustainable sourcing helps protect marine ecosystems and ensures ethical product production:
Fish Oil: Look for brands that source from wild-caught, sustainably harvested fish.
Algae Oil: A sustainable, plant-based option that’s ideal for vegans and environmentally conscious consumers.
Sourcing transparency can be a great indicator of quality and eco-responsibility.

Supplements You Can’t Avoid: Are You Missing These Essentials?
Let’s get real for a second — modern life is a whirlwind. We’re juggling work, family, social lives, and trying to squeeze in some self-care between it all. In the midst of this madness, eating a perfectly balanced, nutrient-rich diet every single day feels like a fantasy, doesn’t it? And that’s where supplements come in. Sure, we’d all love to get everything we need from our food, but sometimes that just isn’t possible. So, which supplements are truly hard to avoid in this fast-paced world of ours?
Here’s the audacious truth: some nutrients are just plain tricky to get enough of from diet alone, and for some of us, supplements are a must. But not all supplements are created equal, and not everyone needs the same things. So, let’s break down the supplements that many people simply can’t skip — whether due to diet, lifestyle, or modern living.
1. Vitamin D: Sunshine in a Bottle
We all know the drill: vitamin D is vital for our bones, immune system, and even mood. But here’s the catch — how many of us are actually soaking up enough sun these days? Between working indoors, slathering on sunscreen (and rightly so), and long, dark winters, getting enough vitamin D from sunlight is a tall order. Add to that the fact that it’s found in only a handful of foods, and it’s no wonder so many of us are low on this crucial vitamin.
Without enough vitamin D, you’re looking at weakened bones, a lowered immune system, and even a hit to your mental health. If you’re not getting at least 10–30 minutes of direct sunlight a few times a week, a supplement might just be your best bet to stay healthy and bright. This one’s a no-brainer.
2. Omega-3: The Brain Fuel You Didn’t Know You Needed
Let’s talk fish. Unless you’re munching on salmon, mackerel, or sardines a few times a week (and who really is?), you’re likely missing out on omega-3 fatty acids. These fats are game-changers for your brain, heart, and even mental health. They help fight inflammation, keep your heart ticking along, and are linked to everything from reduced anxiety to better memory.
For those who don’t love fish — or avoid animal products entirely — this is where a supplement can make a world of difference. Fish oil, krill oil, or algae-based supplements can fill that gap with ease. Seriously, your brain will thank you for it.
3. Vitamin B12: The Vegan Achilles Heel
If you’re plant-based, this one’s for you. Vitamin B12 is crucial for nerve function, red blood cell production, and overall energy levels. But there’s a catch — it’s almost exclusively found in animal products. That’s bad news for vegans and vegetarians who can struggle to get enough from diet alone.
Without B12, you risk fatigue, brain fog, and even nerve damage. If you’re following a plant-based diet or if your body doesn’t absorb it well, a B12 supplement is an absolute must. And let’s be honest, even some meat-eaters are deficient because they’re just not getting enough from their diet. No shame in reaching for a little extra help.
4. Iron: More Than Just for Popeye
Iron isn’t just about fighting off anaemia — it’s about keeping your energy levels stable and your immune system strong. But here’s the kicker: iron from plant sources just doesn’t absorb as well as the iron from meat. If you’re not eating red meat, or if you have heavy periods, your iron stores can easily run low.
This isn’t just about fatigue, either. Low iron can mess with your immune system, leaving you more vulnerable to illnesses. For many people — especially women and vegetarians — an iron supplement can be a lifesaver. But, of course, make sure to get your levels checked before you start popping pills.
5. Magnesium: The Unsung Hero
Here’s a nutrient that doesn’t get enough love: magnesium. It’s involved in over 300 processes in your body, from muscle function to heart health to stress reduction. And yet, many people are deficient and don’t even know it.
Why? Well, modern farming practices have left our soil depleted, so even those leafy greens that should be packed with magnesium aren’t always delivering the goods. Throw in a diet that’s heavy on processed foods and low on whole grains, nuts, and seeds, and it’s easy to see why magnesium levels are lagging.
If you’re dealing with stress, sleep issues, or muscle cramps, a magnesium supplement could be exactly what you need to restore balance.
6. Folate (Folic Acid): The Pregnancy Powerhouse
For anyone thinking about pregnancy — or already there — folate (or folic acid) isn’t just important, it’s non-negotiable. It plays a crucial role in preventing birth defects and supporting healthy development. Even if you’re eating your leafy greens, legumes, and fortified grains, it can be tricky to get enough folate from diet alone when your needs increase during pregnancy. So, this is one supplement you don’t want to skip if you’re in the baby-making business.
7. Calcium: Because Bones Don’t Last Forever
We’ve all heard about calcium for strong bones, but as we age, it becomes more important than ever. If you’re dairy-free or simply not a big fan of calcium-rich foods, this is one mineral you can’t afford to ignore.
Low calcium levels lead to weak bones and a higher risk of fractures. For those who avoid dairy, a calcium supplement can make all the difference in keeping your skeleton strong as you age.
8. Zinc: The Immunity Booster
Last but not least, zinc — a superstar for your immune system and overall health. Found in meats, shellfish, and seeds, it’s often tough for plant-based eaters to get enough zinc from food alone. Not to mention, zinc is easily depleted during illness, making it even more critical during cold and flu season.
If you find yourself getting sick often or if you’re vegetarian or vegan, a zinc supplement can be a game-changer for your immune health.
The Bottom Line: Supplements with a Purpose
Here’s the bold truth: while we all want to rely on whole foods for our nutrients, the modern world doesn’t always make that possible. Whether due to lifestyle choices, dietary restrictions, or even the way our food is produced, supplements can fill in those nutritional gaps that are otherwise hard to avoid.
But remember, supplements are just that — supplements. They aren’t a replacement for real, nutrient-dense food. Think of them as backup singers, not the main act. They help when your diet doesn’t quite cut it, but they should never be the sole source of your nutrition.
So, while you might not need every supplement on this list, these essentials are ones you shouldn’t ignore if your diet or lifestyle leaves you lacking. The right supplements can support your health in ways that might just make the difference between thriving and just getting by.

This Deep Sea Hearing Formula Supports The Health Of Your Ears
Introduction
The human ear, with its delicate and intricate structure, is a marvel of natural engineering. Yet, this complex organ is vulnerable to a range of ailments that can compromise its function. As people age, hearing loss becomes increasingly common, leading to a diminished quality of life. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in natural remedies that support ear health, particularly those derived from the deep sea. This shift towards marine-based solutions reflects a broader trend in health and wellness, where individuals are seeking safer, more holistic approaches to maintaining their well-being.
Understanding Hearing Loss
Hearing loss can be attributed to various causes, including prolonged exposure to loud noises, infections, genetic factors, and the natural aging process. The impact of hearing decline extends beyond the mere inability to hear; it affects communication, social interactions, and even mental health. Conventional treatments for hearing loss, such as hearing aids and surgeries, while effective, come with their own set of limitations and risks. This has led many to explore alternative treatments, such as supplements designed to bolster ear health from within.
The Science Behind Hearing Support
The ear is composed of three primary parts: the outer ear, the middle ear, and the inner ear. Each section plays a critical role in the process of hearing. Over time, factors such as reduced blood flow, inflammation, and oxidative stress can lead to the deterioration of auditory cells, resulting in hearing loss. Understanding these mechanisms is crucial for developing effective treatments that can slow or even reverse hearing decline.
The Promise of Deep Sea Ingredients
Marine environments, particularly the deep sea, are rich in bioactive compounds that have been used for centuries in traditional medicine. The unique conditions of the deep sea—such as extreme pressure, low temperatures, and minimal light—foster the development of robust, nutrient-dense organisms. These organisms possess remarkable properties that can be harnessed to support human health, including the health of the ears.
Key Ingredients in Deep Sea Hearing Formulas
One of the most potent ingredients found in deep sea hearing formulas is Omega-3 fatty acids. These essential fats are known for their anti-inflammatory properties and are crucial for maintaining the health of cell membranes, including those in the auditory system. Another powerful component is Astaxanthin, a red pigment found in certain marine algae and seafood. It is one of nature’s most potent antioxidants, capable of protecting auditory cells from oxidative damage. Marine collagen, derived from fish, plays a key role in strengthening the structural integrity of the ear’s connective tissues. Seaweed extracts, rich in vitamins, minerals, and other bioactive compounds, offer additional support by nourishing the auditory system.
How These Ingredients Support Ear Health
The benefits of these deep sea ingredients extend beyond basic nutrition. Omega-3 fatty acids help reduce inflammation in the ear, which is a common contributor to hearing loss. Improved blood flow to the auditory cells ensures that they receive the necessary nutrients and oxygen to function optimally. Antioxidants like Astaxanthin protect these cells from the harmful effects of free radicals, while marine collagen helps maintain the ear’s structural integrity, reducing the risk of age-related damage.
Research and Clinical Studies
Numerous studies have explored the effects of marine-based ingredients on ear health. Research indicates that individuals who regularly consume Omega-3s have a lower risk of hearing loss. Clinical trials have shown that Astaxanthin can significantly reduce oxidative stress in auditory cells, leading to improved hearing outcomes. Case studies from users of deep sea hearing formulas further corroborate these findings, with many reporting noticeable improvements in their hearing ability.

Comparing Deep Sea Formulas with Conventional Supplements
One of the advantages of deep sea hearing formulas is their high potency and bioavailability. The nutrients derived from marine sources are often more easily absorbed by the body compared to their synthetic counterparts. Additionally, these formulas are typically free from synthetic additives, making them a safer option for long-term use.
How to Incorporate Deep Sea Hearing Formulas into Your Routine
To reap the full benefits of deep sea hearing formulas, it is important to follow the recommended dosage and timing. Most experts suggest taking these supplements with meals to enhance absorption. Pairing them with a balanced diet that includes plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins can further optimize their effects on ear health.
Potential Side Effects and Precautions
While deep sea hearing formulas are generally safe, certain individuals should exercise caution. Those with allergies to seafood or certain marine-derived ingredients should avoid these supplements. It is also important to consult with a healthcare provider if you are taking other medications, as there may be potential interactions.
Choosing the Right Deep Sea Hearing Formula
When selecting a deep sea hearing formula, look for products that are sustainably sourced and have been tested for purity and potency. Reputable brands often provide detailed information about their sourcing and manufacturing processes, which can help you make an informed decision.
Frequently Asked Questions
One common question is how long it takes to notice results. While individual experiences vary, many users report improvements within a few weeks of consistent use. Another question is whether these formulas can prevent hearing loss. While they cannot reverse existing damage, they can help slow the progression and support overall ear health. As for long-term use, these formulas are generally safe, provided they are taken as directed.
Testimonials and Success Stories
Users of deep sea hearing formulas often share transformative stories of how these products have improved their hearing and overall quality of life. From regaining the ability to enjoy conversations to experiencing less ringing in the ears, the positive feedback is both inspiring and encouraging.
The Future of Hearing Health
As research into marine-based remedies continues to evolve, we can expect to see even more innovative solutions for hearing health. The potential for these natural compounds to not only support ear health but also address other aspects of wellness is vast, making them a promising area of study.
Conclusion
In summary, deep sea hearing formulas offer a powerful, natural way to support ear health. By incorporating these marine-based ingredients into your daily routine, you can take proactive steps to maintain your hearing and overall well-being. The journey to better ear health starts with informed choices and a commitment to taking care of one of your most vital senses.
