There’s something so special about summer seaweeds. These are from a few years ago, but this upcoming summer I will be more diligent about collecting pictures for the blog with accurate ID.

2nd attempt at Pediastrum! I’m liking this one a lot better so far. The cell walls are done with a split-stich, which I think looks really cool. It’s fairly easy as I’m learning new stitches.

Blue-green algae, or cyanobacteria, can produce extremely harmful toxins for dogs. When ingested, these toxins can cause severe symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, and even liver failure. Dogs can be exposed by drinking or swimming in contaminated water. To protect your pet, always keep your pet away from water with visible algae blooms.

Well, this my first post in a few weeks. Spring semester started and has me doing a lot of work and today I begin packing for a move. I am quite overwhelmed at the moment and can't make any promises as far as posting consistently or at all until things slow down for me, but we'll see how it goes. Enjoy these bonus pictures of the pond in the meantime. Mush love to all. 🍄💛

Sailor's Eyeball - Valonia ventricosa
Valonia ventricosa (bubble algae, sea grape, or sailor’s eyeballs) is a worldwide green algae in tropical and subtropical seas. I filmed one near Sint Eustatius in the Caribbean.
The Valonia ventricosa, often called bubble algae, sea grape, or sailor’s eyeballs, is a species of green algae in the phylum Chlorophyta found in tropical and subtropical oceans worldwide. I was fortunate enough to spot and film one of these fascinating algae off the coast of Sint Eustatius in the Caribbean Sea. The shot was captured with a Panasonic GH5 using an Olympus 14–42mm lens in a…
