Some notes:

No new tags that I saw this month, though as always I could have missed something! As you can see, we already have quite the assortment of canonized tags.

Fics are still primarily in english, but we have three exceptions with significant spanish fics. Karmaland (740 of 842 are in spanish, from 731 last month), Tortillaland (110 of 115 are in spanish, the same as last month), and QSMP (752 of 7,375 are in spanish, from 668 last month.)

QSMP also shows 39 fics in French, up from 30 last month, and 405 in Brasilian Portugese, up from 375 last month. While I did not check every language this month, I checked on the languages I knew had a fic in QSMP and we see 1 fic in ASL (probably a misclick as it appears to be in english), 1 fic in Bahasa Malaysia, 1 fic in German, 1 fic in Esperanto, 1 fic in Filipino, 5 works in European Portugese, 5 fics in Русский (Russian), 1 fic in Suomi (Finnish), 1 fic in Tiếng Việt (Vietnamese), and 3 fics in 中文-普通话 國語 (Mandarin Chinese, I believe), all the same as last month. New is two fics in Polski (Polish), one fic in Svenska (Swedish), and one fic in Dansk (Danish).

In the small and micro fandoms (under 200 fics), some of the most active small fandoms have grown out of this category so we only saw small amounts of growth. The standout fandoms all saw an increase of 6 works, and that was a tie between Content SMP, New Life SMP, and Witchcraft SMP. Note that Content SMP was coming up from only 24 works, so 6 new works is an increase of 25% of the fandom, truly impressive.

In the midsize fandoms (200-1000), Fable SMP has broken that 1000-fic mark and can no longer qualify for our standout fandom! Instead, our most active fandom was Evolution SMP, with 33 new works, followed by Mystreet with 20 fics and Minecraft: Story Mode with 24 fics. Mystreet and Story Mode are both new fandoms so it's unclear whether that's people retagging old work or true new fics.

For the post-canon big fandoms: Empires went up by 178 works, singificantly more than last month's 117, but not beating the previous month's 240, and Dream SMP's increase of 918 beat the previous month's 767, but is still only the second time I've seen this fandom fall under a thousand works plus a month. Hermitcraft is between seasons right now, but still experienced that holiday exchange boost, as its increase of 784 beat both last month's 574 and the previous month's 651. For active fandoms, traffic series posted a staggering 831 fics, which is its highest ever number, beating April 2023's 671 fics. QSMP saw 865 fics, which is part of a three month decline (894 last month, 913 the month before), but still posting numbers that are only exceeded by DSMP.

Overall, the number of fics posted under Video Blogging-RPF (the umbrella fandom that contains all MCYT) is 4,223 fics, a significant increase from last month's 3,489, and the previous month's 4,035, but still exceeded by October's record 4,702. Notably, it's higher than the summer numbers and almost exactly the same as the number we saw last January, 4,235 new works.

Speaking of Lin Chi, he might have launched his three hundred complaints against Xi Ping, but also, Xi Ping single-handedly dragged him kicking and screaming out of his 800(?) year long depression by being, as always, an unignorable nuisance. 

Xi Ping going, "Hey, I need you to do shit for me that should logically take a couple of years to complete, but I need it, like, yesterday, or the world is going kaboom" forced Lin Chi to not only come out of seclusion, but also pick up his forging tools again, fire up that old flame, and get to inventing. And boy did he not disappoint! 

He goes back to doing the thing he used to be passionate about, he becomes better at it!, he challenges himself, even his friendship with Zhi Xiu and Wen Fei is basically a result of Xi Ping giving them a reason to start a "Xi Shiyong is a devil and a rat in a human body" knitting circle. 

And he needs it. 

The enough-to-last-for-ten-years fireworks? Inspired. 

The shapeshifting tool that gets Xi Ping turned into an actual rat? Probably the very last time Lin Chi invented a contraption without an idot-proof failsafe in place. 

Lin Chi might be perpetually pissed off about Xi Ping, but also, he is living again, meeting people, following his passion. He owes Xi Ping his life, even though it kills him in the end, and I am Emotional about that.

Essay I wrote for no absolute reason :) Idk what is the title of the essay lol

Hi! This is my first post. I was feeling bored during class so I wrote this essay for fun.

Above me were the genuises. People who had all straight-A's, countless of awards and trophies, and a bright future ahead of them. They were talented in many different fields and praised by many parents. They studied very hard and stressful, yet, they were peaceful and virtuous. They were the symbols of hope, the future hope of the world. I believed that nothing could stop them. Whenever despair strikes, a greater hope will definitely overcome it. No matter how great the despair is, hope will always win. When there is despair, there will always be hope. Thus, when there is hope, there will also be despair. If one does not exist, the other does not. For my whole life, I have always wanted to observe the symbols of hope beat despair. That's why I look up to them so highly. Until I die, I will aim to be a straight-A student.

However, becoming a brilliant student is not an easy, simple task. It is harder than breaking the laws of physics. In order to become a genius student, I must strive, study hard and pass my exams. To avoid failing, I memorized physics formulas, attempted to solve algebra and did experiments such as combining potassium and water (though it didn't end so well...). In addition, I also dissected living humans to study biology because dissecting frogs or rats were boring. This resulted in being on the run from the police, but it was all worth it.

Then, as the final exams were getting closer and closer, I anxiously panicked. After studying so much, I still have not improved at all. I was so confused, why was I wrong for stating that one plus one equals to three? That was the answer I was most confident about! Furthermore, why is my dissected human not coming back alive? The brain is supposed to be in the stomach, right?! Why are the intestines not fitting inside the head?! In addition, my english has also not improved at all. Why did my computer put a red line under the word 'idot'? Isn't it supposed to be spelt as idot, not idiot? Lastly, I was stranded in the hospital for a month due to an attempt of trying to hold hydrochloric acid in my hand. "School is such a monstrous abomination", I despairfully thought to myself. This confusing life crisis of mine forced me to pay sixty-five ringgit every month just to attend tuition.

One day, my life changed forever. Somebody told me that one plus one equals to two, not three. I could not believe it! I thought I was dreaming. For my entire life, I thought that one plus one equals to three. Was this a dream? Was this real? Am I real? Who is real? What is real? What am I? I had an existential crisis for a month and had to go to therapy, but at least, I finally achieved my goal!

headcanons 3!!

Ripred and Hamnet deserved a soft epilogue and a summer wedding and solovet can perish in every horrible way...

-Ripred was frikking W E A K for Hamnet. cannot convince me otherwise. they talked the WHOLE TRIP. Ripred is known in all other books to keep to himself or start fights. He feels safe with him. comfortable. they both lost everything to solavet because of the flood. 

-Ripred, upon meeting Hazard... Is kind. Interested even... he talks to the boy and NEVER ONCE expresses frustration... he hisses at kids and people he doesn’t even know!! he just doesn’t like kids! but Hazard, Hamnet’s son , is special. 

-Hamnet left (or tried to) Hazard with Ripred and said “he will take care of you.” not luxa. not the bats. Not temp. Ripred. and when Ripred gently put his tail on the boy’s shoulder... I just almost lost it. Ripred ADOPTED THIS KID because it’s Hamnets. 

-Hamnet can control Ripred. not fully like a dog or subordinate, but like a partner (husbandddd) He calls the rat off and puts him in timeout when he yells at gregor.  RIPRED WENT TO TIMEOUT. HE FOLLOWED WHERE HAMNET LED AND NEVER QUESTIONED HIM AND DIDN’T URGE HIM TO FIGHT.... Ripred not only TRUSTS Hamnet more than anyone else we’ve seen from the get-go... but he also loves him. maybe not romantically, but that is a bond. Ripred didn’t make hamnet fight... he said he SHOULD leave. the odds were slim and Hamnet is practically a rager himself.... Ripred let him go... but Hamnet stayed.

-Ripred and Hamnet were so beautiful not because “oh hot gay ship” but “oh... these two TRUST eachother. the two who have no one to fall on and are perfectly self sufficient... trust eachother. work together. enjoy eachother’s company. protect eachother. understand eachother...” 

-these two had very similar motives but went about them very different ways. Ripred is cold, harsh, guarded, and isolated. he fights for every breath and fights and fights and fights in hopes that one day... he won’t have to anymore. he doesn’t want any more families broken. not like his. Hamnet is warm, gentle, kind, and also literally isolated. he made a friend found love, and goes through the remainder of his life with a skip in his step. do no more harm. bruise no leaf, tread on no root.. he wants the fighting to stop so he refused to be a part of it. and they clearly respect and admire each other for their decisions... and Hamnet... again... stayed and fought. he fought and fought and killed and killed... he made it clear in the beginning he didn’t care for finding the cure or any of that warring business... but Ripred. The Alpha. who never fought without good reason. who detested violence as much as he did. He stayed and fought. He let Hamnet go. told him to leave with his son.  to live. Lapblood got no such treatment. not Gregor, not Luxa. But Hamnet stayed. he stayed and fought for him. because Ripred, to him was someone worth dying for. 

I know he loved the rest of the group too, and would protect them, but staying and fighting after all those years, you can’t tell me he was mainly doing it for Ripred. his pup and frill were safe from the cutters but you’d be one big idot to believe that he’s leave his bond, his love, his partner behind to fight to the bitter end. and you can bet it all that no matter the stakes Ripred would do the same.

I genuinely seethe at the thought of people ever thinking they have a "happy" relationship when Lpiss got away with SO MUCH SHIT and Steven fucking forgave her. Of course, this isn't the fault of Steven, he was manipulated by her.

She also did the same to Percy (his human name) and I just !!! Agh!!! Awful fucking awful. Lpiss in general is a piss poor excuse of a recovering abuse victim, she NEVER fucking learned from her mistakes. She stole a planets entire ocean, almost drowned Steven and Connie (twice for Steven) ratted out the CGs to Homeworld, AGREED to fuse with Jasper and abused Jasper the entire time in that fusion to "get back at everyone who hurt her", after they unfused Jasper, obviously with STOCKHOLM SYNDROME went back to her, which Piss face literally abused her one last time by punching her into the ocean, broke the one fucking thing that made Percy happy and shut down all his attempts at trying to make a friend (and she absolutely knew he changed and literally couldn't do anything. But no, she wanted to be a grade A piece of shit blue stain and reject it). But oh she blushed at Percy that obviously means she likes them!!! Go die. I hate you.

Oh as a bonus in SU:F, her whole episode was literally just "I'm better than you because I have the power to manipulate you to do what I say." I don't care she gets a happy little song!! The song wasn't even that good anyway.

Anyways TL;DR Lapis Lazuli fucking SUCKS and anyone who genuinely likes her, even as a villain, also suck. She sucks in every aspect and I want nothing to do with people who "forgive her." She never learned.

Some notes

A new fandom this month! Showtime SMP is new, bringing this up to 49 tags that I track.

Fics are still primarily in english, but we have three exceptions with significant spanish fics. Karmaland (750 of 857 are in spanish, from 740 last month), Tortillaland (109 of 115 are in spanish, down from 110 last month), and QSMP (827 of 8104 are in spanish, from 752 last month.)

QSMP also shows 43 fics in French, up from 39 last month, and 452 in Brasilian Portugese, up from 405 last month. While I did not check every language this month, I checked on the languages I knew had a fic in QSMP and we see 1 fic in ASL (probably a misclick as it appears to be in english), 1 fic in Bahasa Malaysia, 1 fic in Dansk (Danish), 1 fic in Deutsch (German), 1 fic in Esperanto, 1 fic in Filipino, 5 works in European Portugese, 2 fics in Polski (Polish), 7 fics in Русский (Russian) (up from 5 last month), 1 fic in Suomi (Finnish), 1 fic in Svenska (Swedish), 1 fic in Tiếng Việt (Vietnamese), and 3 fics in 中文-普通话 ���語 (Mandarin Chinese, I believe). While a 한국어 (Korean) speaker was recently added to the QSMP, there are currently no fics in 한글 (written Korean).

In the small and micro-sized fandoms, several of the smaller fandoms posted a decrease, including Legacy SMP, Bear SMP, and Area Unknown. HBG, on the other hand, posted a frankly impressive 16-fic increase, and both New Life and Witchcraft saw a 8-fic increase.

In the mid-sized fandoms, the showstopper was Minecraft Diaries, which went up a staggering 140 fics, which makes me suspect a sub-tag got wrangled into them. Pirates SMP and Outsiders SMP both saw 20 fic increases, and Mystreet saw an increase of 24 fics.

In the post-canon big fandoms, Empires went up by 188 works, which is an increase on both January's 178 and December's 117, but not beating November's 240. Dream SMP's increase of 591 works is the single lowest number I've seen since I've started tracking tags, being exceeded by both January's 918 and December's 767, which were the first months I'd seen the increase being lower than a thousand. 3rd Life, now that we're outside of a season, posted a respectable 558 fics, down from last month's record high of 831.

In the currently airing big fandoms, Hermitcraft saw that new-season boom, as it posted 716 fics, not as high as January's 784 (holiday exchanges), but beating both December and November's 574 and 651. QSMP posted 729 fics this month, which is part of a four-month decline (865 last month, 894 the month before, 913 the month before), but is still the fandom with the single biggest increase over a month. Incidentally, that means that Dream SMP is beat by both Hermitcraft and QSMP this month, and 3rd life is close behind it.

Overall, the number of fics posted under Video Blogging-RPF (the umbrella fandom that contains all MCYT), is 3,513 fics, down from January's 4,223, December's 3,489, and November's 4,035. Incidentally, it's very close to what we saw last year at the same time, as February '23 saw a VB RPF increase of 3,674.
