Location: Somewhere on the top of Chinsegut Hill

*Aanya, Ohana, Olina, Mireille, Anubis, Ivo the Younger, Sonic’s lot, Lucy, the B-Squad Rangers, and Jayden arrive at the scene.*

Anubis: Fan out. Looks like everyone’s gone.

Aanya: Let’s make sure.

*Aanya’s party sees Sonic.ERR and Exebark in the distance. Exebark is eating a deer and attracts Elizabeth "Z" Delgado’s attention.*

Aanya to Tails in regards to Exebark: Whoa, now there’s a big boy. I feel like how you must feel in those horror games where you die first.

Knuckles: You feel like the fox?

Ivo the Younger, sarcastically: How wondrous for you.

*Sonic.ERR is terrorizing a group of young girls in tourist clothing.*

Elizabeth: He’s terrorizing those tourists. Who are those guys?

Ivo the Younger: Clearly, those devils are about to become footnotes in the glorious history of Ivo Robotnik the Younger.

Sky Tate: I think we found the Ripper.

BGM:

Jayden: Are these guys from the Netherworld?

Aanya: No, but wherever they’re from…

*A Blue Saiark whose torso looks like the Death Egg Robot’s and a group of Blue Choiarks jump out at Sky. Their facial visage resembles the original I Am God face.*

Aanya: …THEY KNOW WE’RE HERE!

Blue Saiark(Death Egg Robot Lookalike): SAIARK!

Sonic.ERR’s Choiarks: Choi, CHOI!

*Exebark senses the commotion and shoots fireballs at Sky. The Death Egg Robot Saiark follows suit and in turn compels Sky to return fire with equal haste via his Deltamax Striker.*

Ohana: And they know Phantom Imperial magic that lets them make Choiarks and Saiarks, too.

Sky: But how? Megumi purified the last ones the Phantom Empire made years ago!

Mireille: Their remnants are back and making more!

*Sky’s attention is diverted to the tourists; one of them has a broken arm and is trying to flee the scene.*

Sky to Anubis: Commander, one of the hostages are getting up!

*Upon closer examination, Mireille finds out that Sonic.ERR hurt Amelia and Bunbury.*

Ohana: It’s my friends- Amelia Anderson and Bunbury! There’s no way we can get to them!

Mireille: She’s right. It would be madness for any lesser hero than yours truly!

*Mireille takes out her PreChanMirror.*

“It’s time to change!”

Mireille: Pretty Cure Kururin Mirror Change!

*Mireille transforms into Cure Earl.*

Cure Earl: I am imagination made manifest- I am Cure Earl!

*Cure Earl summons her paintbrush and charges at Exebark.*

Sky: I dunno if that’s the bravest thing I’ve ever seen…

Bridge: …Or the dumbest.

Jayden: Let’s hope it’s the first!

*Ohana and Anubis flank left and make their way to Amelia and Bunbury while the latter pair tend to their wounds.*

Anubis to Amelia and Bunbury: I’m Commander Anubis Cruger of Space Patrol Delta’s B-Squad. Are you alright?

Amelia: I’m feeling a little lightheaded.

Ohana: Who are these guys?

Bunbury: No idea.

Amelia: They just showed up, started rampaging, and killed every living thing they got their claws on.

Anubis: Anyone else with you?

Amelia: No way, your excellency. I did what I could, but I just couldn’t stop them.

*Exebark shoots a fireball at a nearby tree and destroys it. Sky shoots down 3 blue Choiarks while Bridge shoots down the 4 Choiarks in front of him.*

Bridge: You did your job. Now it’s my turn.

*Bridge follows Cure Earl with guns blazing.*

Amelia: I like that guy’s style.

Anubis: Ugh. Sky, Earl, cover him!

Cure Earl: Pinceau Arc-En-Ciel!

*Cure Earl fires a stream of rainbow colored energy at Sonic.ERR’s blue Choiarks, destroying some of them in the process. The Choiarks she missed are destroyed by Sky’s Deltamax Striker. Anubis takes out his Shadow Saber and confronts Sonic.ERR. Exebark growls as he and Execun make their way towards him.*

Execun: What’s the matter?

Sonic.ERR: He wields the Shadow Saber, Execun! That must be him!

You bow with the rest of the performers on stage as the crowd gives one last show of appreciation. When the curtains fall, you very stealthily scamper towards the dressing rooms, not before catching the sly wink Zatanna throws your way.

Maybe you weren’t being that stealthy.

The door to your dressing room clicks shut and you eye yourself in the vanity mirror, only then realising how nervous the girl in the mirror looks. There’s a lot that can go wrong today and a lot you really want to go right. You fix yourself with a look of determination.

With a little twirl and a poof of smoke, your magicians outfit is swapped with the outfit you spent a rather embarrassing amount of time picking out. Before you can fuss anymore over your reflection, there’s a knock on the door.

That was fast, at least you’re not the only eager one. You take a quick, deep breath before opening the door.

Damian Wayne stands in the doorway, he takes you in while you take him in. He’s dressed much less fancy than the last time you saw him, bomber jacket with a simple but probably unnecessarily expensive t-shirt and loose jeans.

“Are you ready?” You ask, unable to fully hide your excitement. You see just the smidgen of a smile on his face as he answers rather seriously,

“I’m always ready for anything.”

“Ooh, Don’t challenge me, Wayne.”

You pull him into the room and shut the door. After knocking three times on said door, you give him a grin.

“You let me plan this whole thing, remember.”

You open the door and step through into an entirely different place. Damian’s sneakers touch cobblestone road and he squints in the sudden sunlight. He thinks he knows already, given the wide bustling streets and the architecture of the buildings around him, but he asks anyway,

“Where are we?”

You’re all too happy to tell him, winding an arm around his and leading him in a seemingly random direction.

“Turin, Italy. I did a mission here a while ago. That’s what we’re going to see first by the way, some good old spooky occult shit, this city has tons of it.”

He lets you drag him to several such occult sights. He listens while you yap about the differences between demonic and non-demonic cathedrals, how to know if a crypt is cursed and which ghost sightings are obviously real and which are fake. He does it all with an attentive mind, almost like he’s reading a book he really likes and he's trying to burn it into his mind.

Once you're done showing him all the "cool shit", you proudly announce that you also planned some things he'd actually enjoy. He keeps the fact that he was enjoying himself the entire time to himself.

You take him to an art gallery, an archaeological museum and a natural history museum. You listen to him yap all about unconventional painting techniques, which period had the best samurai swords and which fun facts about prehistoric animals are actually true and which are completely wrong. You listen with the ear of someone who’s hearing their new favourite song for the first time.

“I get that, but when a magician asks you for your favourite animal and you say "Anaconda." You should at least be a little ready for her to pull out an anaconda! He almost soiled himself on stage!”

Damian huffs a laugh, easing back against the bench you two found that completely coincidentally (as far as he knows) has a perfect view of the sunset. You sit in easy silence, sharing a cup of caramel ice-cream. He looks more at ease than you’ve ever seen him before and an embarrassing amount of pride blooms in your chest at how well your date turned out to be.

You stare ahead at the horizon and wonder if he’s thinking the same thing you are, the thought sparks a bit of unease. Realising you haven’t said something stupid or irritating in a while, you decide now would be a good time to break the fast.

“Do you think the sunset will be this pretty on our wedding day?”

His lips nudge downwards, not quite a grimace but he eyes your smug grin with much annoyance. He sighs and takes another scoop of ice-cream with his little wooden spoon before saying,

“I hope so.”

The teasing grin disappears from your face, and all you can do is gaze ahead blankly. That’s not what he was supposed to say.

You clear your throat and take a bigger than necessary bite of ice-cream, racking your brain for what the hell to say next. After a few minutes you try again, teasing tone more forced than before.

“Do you think Alfred would walk me down the aisle?”

He doesn’t look at you this time, he just stares ahead at the pinkish-orange sky.

“I'm sure he would if you asked. So would my father. He would be glad that at least one of his sons can commit.”

You look ahead too, wishing you could see the view through his eyes instead.

“I'm sure he'd be proud.”

Damian doesn’t have to ask who you’re thinking about when you say that, so he doesn't.

“Would you invite…her?”

He tilts his head up, genuinely thinking through how that would play out despite how ridiculous this complete hypothetical is.

“I don’t know. I’d want to.”

You nod in understanding. Some things are just too complicated to work out in the end. A twinge of sadness settles before you feel the impulsive urge to turn to a lighter topic.

“Titus would make the perfect flower boy.”

He lets a smile slip onto his face, finally looking back at you. The sun leaves little specs of gold in his eyes and you find yourself openly staring (unbeknownst that he’s making the exact same observation). He takes the cup from your hands and places it beside you on the bench. Taking your hand in his, he leans closer and kisses you gently.

His other hand gently holds your cheek. When you part, he stays close. It feels just like those stupid cheesy movies, like a pretentious romance novel, like a sappy love song. But it feels good, good enough that you hold off on the snarky comment for just a few seconds more.

“You know you’d have to make Jon the best man, right?”

Damian groans, pulling back and closing his eyes, acting as if that's actually something he'll have to do. You laugh and lay your head on his shoulder.

“C’mon, He’d be devastated if you didn’t.”

Damian puts his arm around you, keeping you close.

“Maybe I’ll just lie and tell him Arab weddings don’t have a best man.”

You let out a snort,

“Good luck with that.”

You stay like that until the sun sinks behind the distant mountains, replaced by the orange glow of street lamps. Eventually, you stand from the bench, clearing your throat a bit.

“I know I’ve kept you all day, but do you want to grab dinner?”

He stands from the bench as well, throwing away the little ice-cream cup before casually lacing your hands together.

“Anything for my future wife.”

Your heart almost stops. Your brain stammers and so do your words.

“Don’t- Don’t say that.”

“Say what, beloved?”

He asks, looking down at you with a smirk. You very much do not like being on the other side of this dynamic at all. And you know he knows that, he might just be able to feel the heat from your face!

“Stop that-”

Before you can finish, the world stops, literally. Everything slows to a halt. Crickets stop chirping, the breeze stops blowing, all commotion on the street is silenced. Even Damian is suspended in animation just like everything else. Everything except you and-

You’re looking around already, knowing exactly what this is. He used to do this when you were being belligerent on missions. He'd just stop the entire world to yell at you for being a dumb kid, even if he could only do it for a few precious seconds. Nothing for months and he picks now?

You slide your hand out of Damian’s and step closer to where you can see the yellow portal forming.

“You really have bad fucking timing.”

“Language.”

John Constantine steps out of the portal, hands in the pockets of his coat, cigarette in his mouth.

“I need yer help.”

You couldn’t stop the eyeroll if you tried.

“Obviously.”

Why the hell else would he be here. He sighs and takes in his surroundings, looking anywhere but you.

“What are ya even doing here, sight seeing?”

You step back towards Damian and grab his hand, bringing him out of the time freeze. He looks around, taking in the situation with shocking calmness, his expression turns to understanding when he sees John.

“I'm on a date.”

John looks to you, then at Damian, then back to you. It takes him a minute to understand who Damian is and what that means. The cigarette falls out of his mouth as he sputters like an idiot.

“Yer fucking with me.”

“Language.”

He regains some composure when he notices the way you’re looking at him. As if he just remembered how you two left things. That you might actually not want to see him.

“Look, Love, I wouldn't ask if it wasn't an end of the world kind of thing.”

You feel Damian squeeze your hand a little, a reassuring act, an act of trust. There’s a deep understanding between you but with that comes a lot left unsaid. Left in the grey space of "We both understand this so there’s no need to discuss it really.” or is it that you want to talk about it but don’t know how. Being exceptionally gifted kids with exceptional, world-saving parents and bucket loads of trauma isn't something you just bring up casually.

But Damian understands obligation and responsibility. The need to do what’s necessary.

“Fine.”

John sighs, like he actually thought you wouldn’t say yes for a second. The thought brings you more spiteful pride than you’d like to admit.

“Come along then.”

He simply states, before disappearing into his little portal leaving it open for you to follow. Everything slowly returns to normal pace again, the bustle of the street returns as pedestrians keep on like nothing happened. Lucky bastards.

“I’ll call you…when I’m done.”

He nods his head. He’s taking this very well and you’re not sure how to feel about it. He's trying to be understanding, probably because he knows you'd do the exact same thing for him. You barely have to talk about why you have to go, what you have to do… but that doesn't mean you don't want to.

"Don't make me stitch you up again."

He brings you into a hug. You think briefly on how awkward a hug from Damian would have been just a month ago. The thought makes you smile as you burrow your face in his warm neck, breathing in his distinct scent. You open a magic door for him,

“This’ll take you home. To the manor.”

With that you give him one last long look before following your dad into his portal, going who knows where to face who knows what.

My problem with Sarada’s timeskip outfit

I wasn’t going to do this but with the number of times i have seen that outfit on my FY page on other platforms, I kinda wanna gauge my eyes out.

But I’ll refrain from that and explain why I don’t like it. If you like it that’s your thing.

I won’t be too mean so let’s get to the Pros first.

- This is Ikemoto’s own flare and I respect that. Kishimoto did encourage him to do this own thing rather than copy his style, and he’s doing it, so that’s a plus.

- It helps separate Kishi’s and Ike’s work better.

- It’s kinda cool and fashionable once you get use to it. The outfit is also a continuation of her pre timeskip ( which is also problematic for me)

However, for me the Cons outweighs the Pros about 3 times at least

1. It doesn’t suit Sarada as a person.

She’s quite level-headed and practical since the beginning of the series. Sarada also doesn’t express her emotions openly. She’s not much of a fashion gal who needs to dress cute and sexy all the time as well.

She’s also a responsive and active girl.

As we know, outfit is a big part of character design, it shows the readers part of the character’s characteristics, and we can understand which vibes they gonna give off.

Heels and loose jackets don’t help indicate the activeness, maturity and seriousness that Sarada has.

The jacket and the shoes being big and heavy don’t indicate a powerful taijutsu user who has Chidori ( a technique that is speed based) as one of her arsenal.

Various accessories don’t show a girl who is efficient and analytical right on the spot.

So a drippy and ngl sexy outfit doesn’t help showing what kind of person she actually is.

2. The design doesn’t match the world building

Yes this is peace time, yes it is also a fantasy world, but Naruto character designs have always been more functionalities oriented. Tell me you look at a basic jounin outfit and say it doesn’t scream life bulletproof jacket.

However it’s still a fantasy so not everything has to 100% be functionalism because if that’s the case then they’ll all wear bulletproof jackets.

If you see the main designs of each period you can see how it evolved over time: from samurai-ish armor to bulletproof style jacket and lighter version of it in Boruto time.

This problem comes in 2 parts

- It hinders Sarada’s very own power

She has her mother’s strength and her father’s ninjutsu, which requires her being fast and active. A big bomber jacket which is always fallen on one shoulder ( and stay there with all of her movements smh ) doesn’t help her very physical fighting style.

And you better tell me how this kind of sleeves does not hinder her hands’ signs, esp the thumbs.

- The design contradicts a very crucial element of Naruto’s clothing design: Maneuverability

This one is quite a controversial and people have screamed left and right about this so I’ll just argue some stuff they said

1. Heels are not a problem. She can fight in heels since there were other women in Naruto did that.

Yes and no.

Yes theoretically she can. However Sarada as an active teen Chunin won’t do that.

The famous examples of women who fight in heels were Mei, Tsunade and Konan. However Konan often turns herself into paper and she floats/ flies a lot so she didn’t even need her legs as much lol.

Mei and Tsunade are straight up Kages, they don’t have to fight that often. And when they have to fight, it’s either ambush or a sudden wtf thing appears out of nowhere.

If you look at every Chunin girl designs, none of them fight in heels. Especially those taijutsu specials aka Tenten, Hinata and her mom!

2. There are ppl who wear long coats but still can fight so can she. ( aka the Akatsuki and Hinata)

The coat is part of the character designs to help gives off a cool, dangerous and mysterious vibe for the new villain, so that the readers can be hooked and keep reading.

Still the coat is quite easy to move in even when it’s zipped up.

The lower part ( idk what to call it ) can still split apart after that.

Hinata has a big jacket but it’s to show her shyness and introverted nature, and she zips that shit up wtf.

Summary:

I guess my very main problem is that it doesn’t suit Sarada’s very own character, the others are just favour to the main dishes.

"Doin' great, kid," Kerry sighed, words encouraging but his demeanor making his exhaustion clear. The former Samurai guitarist and singer had been trying to keep a low profile, but clearly he wasn't being nearly cautious enough.

He had been wandering around in a large bomber jacket with a cap and sunglasses to obscure his face. Hell, he'd even tied up his hair, but apparently it'd been no use. Nothing quite like his usual form-fitted rocker punk aesthetic he usually stuck to on stage. This kid had managed to clock him and approach him. All Kerry could hope was that no one else caught on. Absolute last thing he wanted or needed was to get swarmed.

He did notice a few people glancing their way, which was already making him feel a little antsy.

"...Little busy here, kid. Walk with me, talk with me." He wasn't just gonna turn him away. Nah, that'd be a dick move. But at least if they kept moving, it'd look less weird. Kerry started to walk in the direction of where he'd been going in the first place, still making attempts to keep his head low and mostly out of sight.

I've always thought about the fact that in Riley's canon, Johnny's Samurai jacket has always belonged to her family (it's her great-grandfather's bomber jacket from when he flew jets during the 2nd Lat Am Wars, which he subsequently modded with Samurai decals as a fan of their post-war messaging). Because of that, Rogue can't gift her the jacket during Chippin' In since it technically doesn't exist in the same way as it does in canon, so she just gifts Riley a pair of Johnny's old aviators instead and goes "he left sets of these in my car all the goddamn time I have like seven more in my glove compartment alone", to which Riley goes "..........You know what? That tracks".

One of the things about IBO is that if you listen to what it was inspired by, those inspirations serve as hints to the show's true nature.

Barbatos was designed in s1 to start off looking like a kid wearing a samurai helmet, only to gain more samurai armor as it evolves. Therefore, it's linking Tekkadan to the honorable samurai. It's pilot Mikazuki is even described as honorable in episode 3, but there's a catch. Orga said that about Mikazuki after Tekkadan drugged their superiors, tied them up, stole the company from them with Mikazuki executing those who resisted earlier in the episode. It was said because Mika accepted a challenge for a duel, something he rejects towards the end of the season in an act that Yaraon reported had him being called evil on Japanese forums. That samurai-armor was ripped off Barbatos in the final battle of s1, with Mikazuki being called a monster. Barbatos would then become more demonic looking in the following season to the point it stopped looking human.

The thing about the samurai is they weren't that honorable. That was PR after the samurai class was abolished following the Meiji restoration, where the former samurai boosted their image in order to look better from the masses. It was also this image that fueled Imperial Japan, this belief that bushido made them better than others and acted as a justification for what they would do to them.

The story was also said to be inspired by the Shinsengumi, who fought against the restoration. Stories at the time paint the group as violent thugs, but following the Meiji era people began to romanticize them. So, like with the samurai we have Tekkadan being linked to groups that were made to appear better than they were in hindsight. Even in the show, Tekkadan having PR on their side is actually the truth, with Nobliss Gordon in s1 and McGillis in s2 spreading stories that they are heroes in order to further their own goals.

The director said following the first season the show was a mafia story, based on the same events that the Battles without Honor and Humanity series, treated as the Japanese version of The Godfather, were. That film series actually went against how the yakuza were portrayed in media at the time, as outlaw heroes looking out for the common man and even the modern-day samurai, by instead presenting them as crooks feeding off the poor and not giving much of a damn towards honor or the code of the yakuza.

They all link back to the samurai in some way, but now we have another link to WW2. Doesn't help that the show's name, Tekketsu no Orphans, invokes the tale of the Tekketsu Kinotai, where Imperial Japanese sent kids from Okinawa to fight against Americans. Tales involve giving them two grenades, one to toss at the enemy and the other to act as a suicide bomber with. One of the survivors of this talked about being rescued by Americans and crying when he realized they weren't the monsters he was told they were.

The last quarter of the show also reflects the Japanese far-Right narrative concerning WW2. In that narrative, America put Japan's prosperity into question with it's embargo so they bombed US bases across the Pacific in a surprise attack. Japan was beaten back to it's homeland, where they tried to negotiate a surrender before being illegally bombed with nuclear weapons. Meanwhile, the yakuza gain strength in Japanese politics with approval of the Americans to keep the country from going commie. That's pretty much what happens in the show, except the show leaves out that Tekkadan being hit with illegal weapons was a response to Tekkadan's usage of the AV-system, which itself was banned.

It all goes back to this idea of false narratives, which fits when the director talked about how following s1 we weren't supposed to think of Tekkadan as wrong or misguided only to say that Merribit was the one who was right at the time following s2. It was this director who pushed for Tekkadan to be punished for their crimes by the ending. And when you think about it, it's really... calling out Japan over WW2.

The standard Gundam design is based on the samurai, and Tomino has talked about growing up post-war and seeing the adults trying to pass on their ways to the next generation. It's why in his works he's so adamant that we need to empower the youth so they don't make the same mistakes. Miyazaki has also talked about growing up in this era and being disgusted both at the Americans for acting like they're the good guys after nuking the country and the Japanese men who bragged about what they did in China. The things these men, supposedly honorable men acting in accordance with bushido, were doing. Fukui even got in on this with Unicorn, with Full Frontal basing his plan on the Japanese co-prosperity sphere which was, in reality, just Japanese Imperialism while making themselves look as though they're defending the rest of Asia from the West.

Fukuda can fuck himself over his claims the original show was based on Vietnam.

Even the special edition of the show plays into this, reflecting how WWII wasn't taught in Japanese schools and even today they'll spend so much time on the history leading up to WWII they run out of time to teach the war. That ends at Hashmal, right before the start of the final quarter where Tekkadan are punished.

ssey Miyake, A/W 1985 Inflatable ‘Life Preserver’ Bomber Jacket

Issey Miyake was seen to use a similar inflatable technique for one of his most iconic pieces to date, just two years after this iteration in 1987, making this piece the first sign of using inflatable technology in his garments. The jacket is constructed in a soft brushed cotton, holding its shape and structure, when worn it allows for a comfortable feel on the body. This construction encases the inflatable life preserver bag from the chest area, over the shoulder and down each shoulder blade. Rubber tubing partially hidden on each chest piece allows it to be pumped full of air, distorting the silhouette to sculptural proportions which resemble a samurai's armour. When inflated the shoulders become extremely pronounced and the piece really takes on a new look. The overall fit is boxy and cropped with wide shoulders. Further details include two lower zipped pockets which are arranged with the 3D panelling on the lower part of the jacket, a zipped closure starts just above the button waist closure and adjustable buttoned cuffs can also be seen present. The collar features a structured mock neck style which adds to the samurai style that influenced this jacket.

BIOGRAPHY

Vira was born in Heywood, on OCtober 12, 2049, to Ukranian-American joytoy Nina Volkova (a cheap birth control implant was defective and left her pregnant). Vira spent her early years in the brothel her mother worked at, being raised by her and her fellow joytoys and dolls, until her mother was brutally murdered by one of her corpo clients.

Vira was 8 at the time, and ended up on the streets of Heywood, until Padre took her in as one of his little street-rats. She would run errands for him and complete small jobs for him as she continued to grow up under his watchful eye.

When she was 15, Vira met Jackie Welles, and they quickly became best chooms. Through Jackie, she met Mama Welles and Misty as well. When Jackie left the Valentinos, they teamed up and started doing serious merc-work, aiming to make it to the big leagues one day.

Practice 1_1.3 - Execution

Designing Character A big oversized bomber/puffer jacket with frayed parts slung over a full bikersuit with Bike helmet. It's smooth stark blackness offsetting the jacket’s wildness, creating an air of calculated, barely restrained malice, to enforce this he has a duffel-bag of guns slung around himself like a samurai sword sheath. Guns and ammo constantly spilling out of it.

I started by throwing down a few Blockouts. Different masks/helmets as well as some outfits where the spikes of the bikersuit would penetrate the puffer jacket, as well as a torn variant to make the silhouette more chaotic and threatening.

At this point I was still very certain that the biker helmet would be the final variant. But even after playing around with some accessories it just didn't quite click.

My initial goal was to do a few variants for every version but I ended up only being able to focus on the first 4, which you can see here. In order to push my skills a little I redrew the shading on each, trying a slightly different approach each time.
