ok so this came to me not even in a dream although i could say it came to me in a dream, but it's just my constant galaxy brain activating and making things make sense in my lore, i'm doing the lords work when miyazaki started and didnt finish.

per my Fun Laputian Facts: the purebloods are made of the earth. they can mimic humans in shape but they're nothing like humans on the inside, they are an entirely different species. they were made by greater gods from the heart of the planet and saw themselves as the guardians of the planet and thus believed they had the authority to just deliver divine punishment upon things. they turn back into mud when they die. they have almost no weaknesses except for the thing that bassboosts their power, and the condition of the planet as a whole. they have a weird hivemind while also maintaining individuality. they can fly by weird magic. they put their souls in crystals outside their bodies. they can cast super megadeath magic ray. muska may or may not have built most of the robots, some for gardening and some for firing super megadeath magic ray. the robots have an organic nervous system (thats canon like my god its sorta fridge horror when they die and fall apart)

facts about the god warriors that are literally canon in the nausicaa manga: they are also bipedal and sorta human in shape but also definitely not and are an entirely different species. they were made by other beings as gods and saw themselves as arbitrators and judges of the earth. they turn into mud when they die. they have like no weaknesses except their own power which rots their bodies. they have a weird hivemind but also maintain the ability to manifest individual personalities. they can fly by weird magic (warping reality). there's a control stone involved. they can cast super megadeath magic ray. it's super fridge horror when they die and fall apart

now, 99% of those things are just common things shared between the two species. the problem then is "but knight the laputian purebloods except muska died out 700 years ago when the world got fucked by being ravaged by constant wars bc the crusades sucked ass" yes that is very true, but also the laputians put their souls in magic rocks and their physical bodies returned to the earth.

looping back to "laputians are gods made by other beings (other gods)" the same principle applies to the god warriors, except i guess they were made by humans to be gods, but clearly thats super fucked up and they turned out really wrong. so consider,

humans can't properly use aetherium, that's made clear in the dialogue in castle in the sky, where only the laputians had been able to fully harness the power of aetherium. so here come some humans who decide lmao gotta yeet all things and say they are able to find "control stones" (read: dormant aetherium crystals with laputian souls) and they decide to make some gods with that.

if muska, a laputian, can't revive the laputians, what makes humans think they can do it right? clearly, they ... they didn't. it's super wrong, because what they got was giant ass bioweapons that decided to cast turbodeath upon everything for 7 days straight nonstop, before they died because the godlike power rotted their bodies.

and speaking of godlike power that corrodes the body, muska wasn't born blind! he went blind because his godlike power destroyed his physical health, even tho he could fight 50 grown men and win, he's far from peak health by his species standards. he's suffered "stunted physical growth" man's 6'4 what was this species even. muska didn't die of his power because he's linked to the main crystal core as all the rulers of laputa have been (i can have a little ffxv as a treat! "king of the stone/king of kings")

now, what's even MORE fucked up and will get its own post is how the heedra could also be attempts at fucked up laputians because they also have control stones and are immortal unless you destroy their cores and their bodies also fall apart and turn into mud if you kill them hM!!!!

oops i yeet my old scar chart but here's a new one. muska could fold me in half and i'd probably thank him. i mean, this dude's shredding thru tree roots as thick as adult human arms???? of course he's built like a fucking tank. per Fun Laputian Facts, the only thing that will leave scars on his body are wounds inflicted by aetherium. the burn on his right arm is from the crystal when he tried to take it from sheeta. looks like anahita's crystal was mad at him and honestly that's valid.

during the first and second fall of the kingdom, he had wounds inflicted by falling debris and the laputians basically had aetherium in everything so uh yeah.

the scars around his eyes are the result of the spell of destruction. he considers these to be the wounds that pazu left on him, and he's mad about it, because muska is an insufferable egomaniac and some human child managed to injure him.

was talking about this last night to @pagetorn but some more fun funky laputian things:

the recap: they are gods made out of the earth enkidu style. all the purebloods (including muska) are at base "primordial mud". they have some weird hivemind about a lot of things while also having individuality

the continued funky things that i didn't mention before but are relevant: laputians were also considered the guardians of the heart of the planet, which is why they have the hivemind in the first place. the laputian principle of "live in harmony with the earth" stems from the fact that you could in fact call them the manifestation of the heart of the earth. when there were still plenty of laputians, the burden of the feelings of the planet was spread out and things were fine. it's not so fine when there's only one pureblood left.

this is why muska gets so mad when sheeta talks about "there's a song in gondoa- live in harmony with the winds, plant seeds in the winter, rejoice with the birds in the spring" because he's well aware the planet is suffering because of humans. not all humans, but dang look at what we've done to screw over the earth.

and in this, muska isn't wrong- human beings caused the destruction of the laputians. he's got a right to be angry, but he doesn't have a right to decide on killing everything else, that's wrong no matter how you slice it.

and for a little ... ??? gotta be unhinge: when laputians die, the burial happens and when they are finally laid to rest in the earth, they literally return to the earth. their bodies turn back into primordial mud.

some new funky things: laputians were prideful, they knew they were far beyond any mortal beings, but they also know there are gods higher than them. the laputians worshipped the stars like human beings worship gods- but like in a way that they know the stars are an unreachable goal, but they are "the heart of the earth made in the image of the stars" which explains the appearance of the aetherium crystal when it glows. when housing the soul of a laputian, the aetherium crystal's glow resembles that of the distant stars, which is why humans also call it "the celestial stone"

fun fact, not all aetherium has a laputian soul in it. laputians can harness the power of aetherium in any rock, because when uncle pom says "the earth talks in the stones" he's legit. someone who knows how to work with magic could harness that, but the glow of the "unfinished aetherium" is dimmer and its power output far lesser than one with a laputian soul slapped in it.

nothing could possibly go wrong with a species that put their souls outside their bodies. that's a great idea.
