I think I might need a new phone soon. The battery life on my current one seems to be ... bad. like. I will use it for not even a full 5min and it will go from 100% to 80%. And I'm not even using an app that drains the battery, like tiktok. I'm just scrolling through tumblr or pinterest.

I noticed earlier today at work where, during a 4hr shift, it went from nearly fully charged to almost 40%! And I barely touched -- one because, well, duh I'm working, and also because I noticed the battery was going down way too quicky!

Also it's oddly warm?? I think it might be overheating for some reason, which could be draining the battery. I know electronics generate heat when in use but my laptop doesn't feel that warm and it's like that when I'm not even using it, just charging.

To See My Son Become A Father

A/N: For the Benophie Week 2023 prompt “baby.” Set in 1857 and features mentions of difficulties with pregnancy/infertility but not more than in When He Was Wicked

Benedict Bridgerton woke with a start, blinking rapidly as his eyes adjusted to darkness. Whatever candles had been lit had clearly gone out, but Benedict wasn’t sure how long ago they had. Nevertheless, he stood up and stretched, his muscles and bones protesting the movements. Nothing made him feel all of his 70 years quite as much as sleeping on anything that wasn’t a bed. Except maybe a bumpy carriage ride. Squinting, he could just make out the time on the clock. 2:05 am.

“Mama? Father?” Flickering candlelight illuminated the face of Benedict’s second son’s face.

“Is everything alright, Alexander?” Benedict asked.

“Oh, everything’s absolutely perfect, Father,” Alexander replied, a wide grin gracing the boy’s face. Although Alexander wasn’t much of a boy these days. After all, his son was 36. 

“Did everything go well with Emma?” Sophie’s sleepy voice asked, cutting through the darkness.

“Yes. Emma’s fine. It was a bit much, though, and she’s exhausted. But there’s been no bleeding like there was with Aunt Lucy after El and Frannie were born.”  

“And the baby?”

“They’re fine. Great. It was a bit early, but only by a week or so. But they’re fine. Absolutely perfect. Do you want to meet them?” 

“Of course!”

Sophie popped up, squeezed Benedict’s hand and pulled him to follow Alexander upstairs. Benedict moved on autopilot, with everything moving in slow motion as Alexander’s words sunk in.

“Wait, wait. They? Alexander?” he asked, once they stopped moving. 

“Yeah. They, Father. Emma had twins,” Alexander replied, his voice sounding happily dazed.

“Twins?” Sophie echoed and Alexander nodded.

“Now, wait here. I’ll bring them out.” 

Alexander disappeared for a moment and Benedict caught Sophie’s eye, mouthing the word “twins.” A sigh of relief escaped him though. He knew that Alexander and Emma had spent nearly ten years trying for a baby and now, they had two. They could rest easy and perhaps, the dowager Duchess of Ashbourne (now nearing 90!) could relax. There were many moments where Benedict would swear that Lady Ashbourne was much more intimidating than Lady Danbury ever was.

“Father, Mama, I’d like you to meet Vincent Charles Bridgerton,” Alexander said, emerging from the darkened room with a baby in his arms. He passed baby Vincent to Benedict, who held the boy (his grandson!) close.

“Hello, Vincent. I’m your grandpapa,” Benedict whispered.

“Oh, he’s gorgeous, Alexander. He has your nose,” Sophie said, tracing a finger down Vincent’s little cheek.

“And your ears,” Benedict added, muffling a laugh as he thought about his late father’s joke that he had his late mother’s ears.

“And you said his middle name was Charles?” Sophie asked.

“Yes. We couldn’t agree on a middle name and well, we both have a brother named Charles. Emma had a close relationship with her brother, Charles, and I’ve always liked Charlie,” Alexander answered.

“Oh, Alexander, that’s so sweet.” Sophie squeezed her son’s hand tightly. Alexander blushed and ducked his head bashfully.

“Well, I’ll go get his brother. You can keep holding Vincent, though, Father.”

Benedict looked down and stared at the baby in his arms again. The last baby he had held, the previous week, had been William’s youngest and only son, Oscar. Like Oscar, Vincent looked like a Bridgerton. Benedict would swear up and down that the light hair on the baby’s head was the Bridgerton chestnut.

“Mama, Father. I’d like you to meet Vincent’s twin brother, Beckett Nicholas Bridgerton,” Alexander called, emerging from the room again.

This time, he placed the baby into Sophie’s arms, who was staring, bewildered, at Alexander. 

“Beckett?” she whispered.

“Yeah. Emma and I weren’t expecting twins and well, we only had the one boy’s name picked out. And after seeing him, I suggested Beckett. After you. With Nicholas being for Papa and myself.”

If he hadn’t been holding his newborn grandson, Benedict would have crossed the room and wrapped Sophie up in his arms because she had started to cry. She’d done the same thing when they had learned that Charles and his wife, Nell, had named their eldest daughter, Sophia, eight years earlier. And when she discovered that Gregory and Lucy’s second daughter was named Hermione Sophia, twenty-six years earlier.

I'm half asleep and running basically entirely on hyperfixation fumes so this thought process might be literally nothing but I'm thinking about how we as the viewer don't get to start making decisions in the Markiplier Cinematic Universe Canon until after the DA's death in WKM. We experience the entire series through their point of view and it's presumed we continue to inhabit their character throughout the canon (at least through date and heist, I'm ignoring space for my purposes bc my grasp on how that fits into the story is fuzzy at best on a good day lmao) but it isn't until after the events of wkm have played out that we start making decisions on their behalf

But anyways something something at the end of wkm they die at the hands of Wil, and they give up their body to Damien and Celine, and their story to Mark, and their autonomy to the viewer. Someone who isn't eepy as hell turn this into a more coherent line of thought for me

I see a lot of people saying that the royals (mostly Alfred, but I’ve seen a fair bit of complaining about all the others too) are statistically bad in Engage. I have to wonder, what difficulty is this based off of? On my Hard playthrough most of the royals were my best units, and Alfred in particular was amazing. Ivy and Celine were probably the weakest two - Ivy due to being a bit slow and having AWFUL dex and luck, and Celine just lacking power due to splitting her attention between strength and magic.

Is it just Maddening that they’re specifically bad for? I have not (and will not) played that mode in any FE but my impression is very much that Maddening mode is a different experience and you’re basically forced to play a certain way to win. That’s probably even more true here since fixed growths are in play, so you can’t count on RNG to give you good units. You have to find the ones that the game wants you to use, and stick with them.

For me, one of the biggest joys of FE has always been the RNG of it all - I love the random growths meaning different characters shine (and suck) each run, which encourages you to give different units a try. I love that, at least on Normal and Hard, you have enough breathing room to basically play how you want - favor the units of your choice, reclass whoever into whichever classes you fancy, etc - and doing so MIGHT make your life harder but probably won’t doom your entire run. The versatility and random nature of your units growths makes strategy & combat in this game infinitely more appealing and adds to its replayability.

Like I LOVE Persona games and Stella Glow (which gameplay wise is fairly similar to FE) but in those games the characters are what they are, and the stats on level-up are set in stone. Once you’ve done ONE run and know what works, Complacent Gaming kicks in and you repeat the exact same steps in future runs. In FE even if you use the same characters in the same classes, their performance WILL vary based on how blessed or cursed the RNG has been for them.

If Maddening IS as difficult and particular as I’m assuming, and basically every unit’s viability is determined from the moment you get them and you HAVE to play a specific way to win... is it really right to judge units based on that specific difficulty? Like, sure, so-and-so SUCKS on Maddening, but so does EVERYONE except this specific handful of units and if you use anyone else you’re just hurting yourself.

I feel like we should be judging characters based off a difficulty where everyone is at least VIABLE from the beginning, but judging how likely they are to REMAIN that way based on their growths/classes/personal skills/etc.

To put it another way, what would a tier list of a Maddening run look like? My impression is that it has two, maybe 3 categories of who you can actually use, who gets benched immediately, and MAYBE a middle category of who exists to fill a spot on the team and take a few hits/deal a smidge of damage for just a little while until someone better comes along to replace them. Meanwhile on Normal and Hard you can have a full spectrum of who on average is statistically the best through the worst, with everything in between. And considering several “unusable” units on Maddening are at least GOOD or even better on a normal or hard run, can you really call them bad? At the very least CLARIFY you mean they’re bad on Maddening specifically instead of in general.

do u ever see comments on posts and artwork full of effort and thought and passion etc and like. think about that post that talks about how people have the darndest time interacting with art without trying to crack a joke about it. is it really so boring to take someone's art seriously? is it necessary to demean someone's efforts, however unintended, for a 'joke' that consists of you being like "ooOOoOh how weird lol!!" like i don't want or mean to be a killjoy. but i think about that post a lot. like y do u need to add a punchline to something that doesn't need one. who asked u. why does it need to be funny. and u don't even have the decency to acknowledge its merit ;/

i was gonna make a shitpost about the possibility of Light taking Ryuk to see Shrek 2 for the first time since it came out in 2004, but the date didn’t really pan out. Since Shrek 2 was released on July 24 of that year (in Japan), and L and Light were just handcuffed together the day before, it means Light was missing his Kira mojo and wouldn’t remember Ryuk. :/

I'm curious if you've got any wips for a shazam fic set in years between movie 1 and 2, like about billy getting worn down by the constant love and support from everyone and I guess slowly building up that fear of "I don't know what I would do if anything happened to them" :3c or if you have any headcanons or fic recs set in that time period :33c

i DO actually have at least one fic planned! i'm in the middle of plotting it out right now because it's gonna be a 5+1 fic (which i have never attempted before so i'm weirdly nervous? about that? lmao) and i'm very excited to be able to work on it hehe. as for fic recs iiii don't have anything off the top of my head because i'm in the middle of something right now but probably sometime this next week i'm going to update my fic rec spreadsheet with all the shazam fics i've found that i enjoy! i'll probably make a post when they've been added. the sheet needs a bit of an overhaul tbh now that i've combined the old d.smp sheet with everything else.
