Cersei in Season 8.
Okay, so. I’ve only had a span of ten minutes of Cersei screen time total in season 8, and by the looks of it all. I honestly want to say THANK FUCK! As bitter and greedy as I am for Lena Headey material, it didn’t give much room for Cersei to be completely ruined. And by that, I mean that she was entirely in character through what we do see of her in the season. (And honestly that was the only thing I requested from Cersei’s end in regards to the finale- aside from my only request that she also primarily DIE in character.) And I am going to say it one more time loud and clearly.
Cersei Lannister as completely in character in the absolute atrocity that was Season 8 of Game of Thrones.
When we first see Cersei, she is sitting in the Iron Throne. And she tells show Euron that if he wanted a Queen, to earn her. Yes this is, completely in character as we all know. But as much as I dislike it, it is completely Cersei Lannister to sleep with Euron. When we first see an in depth conversation with her, she says that ‘tears aren’t a woman’s only weapon, the best one’s between your legs.”, which still stands true. (Besides at this point, Cersei felt abandoned, and there was no obligation to stay loyal to Jaime whatsoever after he left the way he did. -no one blinked an eyelash when he took Brienne’s virginity so don’t even think about waving double standards at me- ) and she knew that THIS was the only way to keep Euron on board.
She had no guarantee that her word alone would keep him loyal when the man she did love, and she thought was going to support her no matter what walked out on her. Which, I stand by my opinion in that Cersei was completely valid in her choice not to send soldiers north to fight alongside against the dead, it wasn’t the right choice sure. But - they all but promised to come for her head after, not exactly assuring if you ask me. Especially when you’re expecting a baby.
And thus, Cersei slept with Euron. But, if you note the immediate return to business afterward. The threaten when Jaime was mocked, and the almost withdrawal when he touched her, Cersei did not feel an ounce of love or enjoyment of the deed. (Remember the affection that she was shown to have when she was with Jaime, the content sleeping when she notes how she doesn’t ever sleep well at all, the affection filled kiss and the uncaring toward the revealing of their relationship.)
The next we see, we see Cersei standing the presumed placed where she watched the Sept of Baelor blow to pieces, which in Cersei’s mind was a complete success were it not for the death of her child- and I don’t know the point of this besides at first Cersei wants to feel that feeling of victory again. But, that continued location setting I blame on the directors because at that point when she kept showing up in the same place, was to give the illusion that the ‘evil witch’ might win.
So the next time we see her it’s after Euron shoots down Rhaegal.
Which let me note that Euron Greyjoy is stupidly over powered, there is no way he should have known where they would show up in Dragonstone at that precise time and where the dragons were flying, an was able to tell who exactly Dany’s most trusted was and was able to pinpoint EXACTLY where she landed in an explosion of ship debris??. Anyway-
While I don’t care too much for Cersei to be the ultimate villain over the fucking NIGHT KING!! of all things, I can’t complain too much when she was entirely IC. I recall exactly when I was watching the horrid episode where we lose MIssandei with @initiare , I called it exactly when it was she was going to die. And that was when Tyrion started calling her heart out in front of both armies, and the enemy trying to usurp her. And that was Tyrion’s mistake. I honestly believe that Tyrion had the full capability to talk Cersei down into at least NOT executing Missandei right then and there. Why he chose to pull out her emotional weakness in front of everyone when she would react exactly how she did. And how was that? Cersei is a stubborn and bullheaded when it comes to showing people exactly how far she would go to ensure that she is respected, and feared, and most of all heard. Her heart being called out the way she was, I knew that Missandei was doomed. And I said that to Sae, I said ‘oh no, tyrion stop. you know better. This is bad. IF Cersei is IC she is going to execute her, this is bad.’ and- as I just called. Cersei executed Missandei.
Was Missandei a special case to Cersei? No she wasn’t. The same would have happened if it was anyone else up there that was on the fleet accompanying Daenerys. It was out of complete dumb luck, and an over powered Euron, that Cersei just so happened to be able to have her big enemies BEST FRIEND and ADVISER who also conveniently made a promise to go home after, land right into the palm of her hands. The same out come would have come if it was anyone else up there. Am I supporting the outlandish blunt racist attitude in Westeros and the Iron Bank -remember Cersei commented on the Iron Bank’s hand in slavery- ? No, I am not. As I have touched on slightly HERE concerning that of in the North.
Then, the next we see her is the fall of King’s Landing. She is refusing to leave the spot she stood when she had planned to watch what was suppose to be a victory.
(And technically, King’s Landing was fortified, fortifications aside, they were protected forward and backward by real tactics. I honestly think it shouldn’t have been THAT easy to rip King’s Landing out of it’s foundations. And Cersei wasn’t exactly misplaced in believing that the Red Keep wouldn’t fall, it’s literally a castle that’s made to be dragon proof, and I think Cersei should have blown the castle to bits. But. Anyway.)
So, after losing Qyburn and her last protector, Cersei genuinely thought herself to be completely alone. When we see her by herself, she doesn’t know what to do. She’s lost, she’s confused she’s never been truly by herself, because even when she was she always had Jaime. The one man who had held her hand through the toughest times in her life. And she thinks that all is lost, and she turns around and she sees him.
And the mask completely falls away. The panic, the heartbreak, the grief, the loss, the fear, all pulled to the surface to reveal itself to the one man she has always showed her true feelings to. He’s here, when she thought that he had completely abandoned her and their baby. She knew he would return to her, he always has, and the fact that he had shown up in her literal time of need and ruin. Is telling her so much, and it’s so overwhelming the flood of relief she feels seeing him again.
“I want our baby to live. I want our baby to live. Please Jaime don’t let me die.”
Now, on the final note. There is one thing that is at the base of every single one of Cersei’s emotions. It’s the foundation of her anger, the grief, the sadness. And that is one simple thing; fear. She was driven by a prophecy that she has feared since she was a girl. She was afraid to lost her children, her crown, and her brother. She feared losing her last baby, she feared losing Jaime. She was afraid to lose all that she held dear. And finally, she feared death.
“Please Jaime, don’t let me die. I don’t want to die.”
And Jaime, came through for her. One last time. Cersei and Jaime always promised themselves and the world that they would go out this world as they came into it. And that was, together. So this, as much as it could have been avoided, was the most IC thing I could ask for. And that was all I asked for. And for that, concerning Cersei Lannister.
I am content.

If Joffery didn’t deserve to die, what should have been done with him? He wasn’t going to get any better or more easily controlled so what was to be done?
Nonnie, Oh Nonnie. | Anonymousaccepting nice nonnie’s always
You’re speaking as if he was a pest, or epidemic, that the world needed to be rid of? Yes, he was a troubled boy, but people always forget that Joffrey is actually closer to Show Tommen’s size than his show counterpart is. (Cersei dots on all of her children, but this lends to extra understanding as to why she was panicky over him when the battle of blackwater came about. Imagine show Tommen there, in armor instead- yeah. That young.). Again, I”ve never excused anything that he’s ever done. But that doesn’t mean I love him any less OOC as would the character I write cherishes him no matter what.
‘He wasn’t going to get any better or more easily controlled.’
Who said this? George? Where did George speculate how Joffrey was going to be when he grew up a little bit more? (Again, Thirteen years old. 14/15 in the show. Not a very long life). It’s really hard to say if he would get better or worse growing up and truly it’s all speculation. Yes I could draw assumptions from the treatment of people around him, and his own attitude, and undiagnosed mental issues, growing up. Again, “Rotten” and “Spoiled” are terms I’m not even going to mention because 8/9 kids in ASOIAF start off just like this. Spoiled, especially by the standards of this time period. Margaery tried to have some influence on him, and so did Cersei, everyone tried to grow influence on him but Joffrey was simply one to not listen because he grew up knowing full well that it was his word that was law and no one else. (Something that Cersei taught all of her children, that superior Lannister- General High Born- belief that everyone is that isn’t you is lesser, and combine with what he tried to pick up from Robert despite his emotional shun and abuse. We don’t have a very good mix now, do we?)
Now the thing about Joffrey is the fact that he CAN’T be controlled, which is exactly what Cersei wanted when it comes to her kids. Does this mean that she’s blind to his tendencies and how he is? No it doesn’t. Does it mean that she would stop trying to find influence with Joffrey? No it doesn’t. And I think it’s funny the irony here considering so many people get angry with Cersei ‘controlling’ Tommen. Anyway.
As to your question as to what was to be done:
Nonnie, chances are life would have went as it was. Cersei being forced to live with her new title of Queen Mother, Margaery being Queen and Joffrey King. And a lot of canon things that we know of right now probably wouldn’t have happened. Tyrion would have remained married to Sansa- Tywin is still alive most likely ENFORCING his word on Joffrey. Cersei finds an excuse to stay, probably some other way to try and rid the King’s Landing of the Tyrell’s. There was never any trial, Shae is probably still alive, and would a lot of the other smaller rebellions have happened if Tywin was still around? Probably not. Everything would probably have turned into a slice of life until Dany somehow manages to get across the sea or the Dead come south with Jon Snow running like a hundred leagues ahead of them shouting ‘WINTER IS HERE AND THE DEAD ARE COMING-’ and everyone is like- ‘oh FUQ-’
Joffrey’s death, now that I think of it, probably is a big time plot mover. Because what then would Cersei have any opportunity to, misguidedly, rearming the Faith Militant? Why would Tyrion have to leave in the first place? Sansa is still in King’s Landing,, where is Arya-, Oberyn has no reason to fight the Mountain in a trial by combat, etc etc, and so on and so forth. It’s a ripple effect, you see? And here Joffrey is sometimes considered less important. LMAO.
What really SHOULD be done is Cersei becoming just a tad more strict, which will never happen anywhere because it’s hella ooc, or everyone just hunkering down hoping Joffrey will listen today. I mean? If you’re asking moral wise, Joffrey probably should have been fostered elsewhere when he was a small babe but since the time period of ASOIAF doesn’t have morals that should be measured by today’s standards despite my never once excusing any of it? And Cersei would never ever ever EVER let another soul near her children-?
I’m not even going to go there.

how i would have written the final battle of the entire series with the given circumstances (Part 2):
(Continue from Part 1.)
And just like that Dany tuns into actions. Because there are still so many people who are out in the open. And these people need to get to safety, they need to be taken away, and quickly. So as she and Drogon, with Rhaegal, take off into the air. We get this whole moment where Dany uses her dragons to make a line of flame and fury within the ice between the dead and the people. And she keeps doing it while her army and that of Jon’s and those that fight with them, do what they can to fight the strays, and those who approach. So they’re defending the people, while escorting them out, while trying to avoid these massive dragon slaying ice javelins form taking them down.
One of the dragons get hurt, but not slain, and she gets angry, and harder, and at this point she’s an angry mother. Now what would be the point to this? It would be that as the people are escaping, they see this woman, on a dragon, fighting to protect them and they whisper about the ‘legend’ of the Targaryen’s as they go. So they naturally assume that , this must be the Dragon Queen.
I imagine once all is well, they would call this ballad the ‘Return of the Dragon’
It would be the pivotal moment in which Daenerys of House Targaryen would connect with the people, and where they would see that she is not this evil mad woman that crossed the sea as Queen Cersei has so conditioned them to believe. And as she and her dragons are using flame to cover the the people, Jon shows up with their men, here come the Wildlings, with House Aryn, Tarth, those that have seen the fight and the dead, who have now joined the cause, all show up. And at one point, I would like to see Dorne showing up.
Yes Dorne, pulling a frickin’ Gandalf in the Two Towers where he shows up at the last moment with their massive army with the sun rising and a dramatic monologue where everyone is getting beat up. I also want some Arya fighting in it, with Brienne, and the Sand Snakes show up because we deserve to see them fighting, some Dayne representation too we deserve this parallel, Podrick is in it too, everyone who is alive and can fight is here fighting.
Cut to Cersei and Jaime who are still in the throne room, and Cersei has given Qyburn one last order. Because looking down she can see the dead flooding into the gate, so she instructs him to take Ser Gregor with him. And when they leave they seal them inside the throne room. And we follow them and Ser Gregor is cutting down dead after dead, and he and Qyburn are going further and further down underground. Until eventually we see that Ser Gregor, starts to become overwhelmed.
Cut back to Cersei and Jaime, THIS starts up. And there is a loud echoing roar that shakes the very walls, it’s a joining scream of the dead, and Jaime steps backward and then turns to her and says: “ Cersei, we need to go.” And Cersei looks contemplative, thoughts running long and hard. And for a moment in her mind, she imagines that she and Jaime escape here. She imagines that they ride past those borders and leave, and go find Tyrion. But- it’s in that moment, with those flashes of imaginative images, that she knows they will never escape. And so she says a soft:
“ And go where? ...” and as Cersei and Jaime look to each other we cut to the outside of the Keep, and it seriously looks like a flood of bodies pour into the confines of a castle. And just then as the piano music starts up in HERE, we flash to Qyburn who has just been cut down, and he’s dragging himself with a torch, it’s very Lancel in the Sept Parallel. And just then we cut again back to Cersei and Jaime who are going back and forth in tender monologues where they are talking about how they are the only two in the world who matters. And just as she takes his face in her hands and his arms wrap around her, there is pounding on the throne room door. Aesthetic moment of Cersei stepping away from the Iron Throne for Jaime.
Cut again to where Qyburn is reaching the point where he’s trying to get to and he’s being stalked by one of those weird white haired white walkers. And just as he reaches and throws the torch down with one last dying effort. And just then the torch IGNITES into a violent burst of GREEN.
Cut to Cersei and Jaime where kiss, and kiss long and hard and take each other in completely. And then the doors BURST open and we hear the united roar of the dead, before the floor beneath their very feet goes up and wildfire ignites all of them and destroys the Red Keep.
And the Red Keep blows like a fuse to the rest of the gasoline. And the line of wildfire SHOOTS out to the rest of King’s Landing now flooded with the dead, and the entire city explodes into this massive roaring, green inferno. And it is enough that it turns a massive tide in the dead, destroys enough that Jon and Dany and Crew can get to the Night King.
I’m still game for Arya being Azor Ahai. But the battle is harder, and not an easy one.
Daenerys ends up having no choice but to escort all of the people for a long while down to Dragonstone, where she ends up having little choice but to declare this the capitol once again. (It was the original Targaryen throne after all.).
Tyrion becomes Hand of the Queen, OR becomes Lord of Casterly Rock where he is left to also raise the last child of Cersei and Jaime. And with that I vote that if the baby is a boy, he named it Jaime after his lost brother (and I feel Cersei would have named him Jaime outright as a point to who his father was anyway). But I also?? want some poetic twists to this and have it be a girl, so he may name her Joanna, after their mother. Because of the influence of her death was, and how poetic it would be that he raised life named after her.
And the rest of the pieces may fall where they may.

how i would have written the final battle of the entire series with the given circumstances (Part 1):
Okay so I’m going to start this off by saying that in my mind the battle against the dead would have gone on for a LOT longer and would have been far more significant than that of the Iron Throne. We do have so much build up of both canons despite the focus on politics, the politics don’t matter when it comes to that of the war of the dead. So - with that said.
I’ve always thought that King’s Landing would have been a prime example of those who didn’t take Jon Snow’s warning of the undead seriously. He spent all this time trying to warn and stave off the fight, but winter has come and the dead are here. And he’s done all that he can, and now it is time to take the blows as they come and pray to the old gods that they will see a dream of spring.
The battle of Winterfell happens, but on a more tactful front than the atrocity that had occurred. In my opinion there could have been better ditches made, SEVERAL walls of barricades, and better use of the dothraki and the unsullied, and a better retreat made, and even massive cauldrons of molten shit to pour down into gutters near the wall. But that’s my opinion, regardless the battle of Winterfell falls. While it’s not on the tactics that lost it, it was more like ants overcoming a massive spider, numbers eventually outdo them. And they are forced to fall back further and further. While also escorting the people of Winterfell in their hurried retreat.
And that is the thing, it wouldn’t be just one battle, it would be MULTIPLE battles. Because the North spans both ways left to right for hundreds of miles, and not to mention it’s just one castle standing between that, in that area, and the rest of Westeros. And it wouldn’t just be a single night, or a single day, not the battles will go on for weeks, possible months? as they use up and scramble for all of their resources as they take step back after step back. Keep after Keep, bridge after bridge. Until we finally get back to King’s Landing.
There is probably a raven sent out, Tyrion and Jaime are sent to ride ahead, because now they must prepare to get the people out. There is no time whatsoever to prepare for war, there is no time to get the people ready to face what is coming. (these two are the only people that would be able to get her to listen to them.) It is time to get the people out. And by now, Cersei would have had her baby,
Note how this winter was suppose to be the longest yet. It’s why ‘winter is coming’ happened for the entire series. Essentially, Cersei and Dany and Jon would have agreed for an agreement that by this logic would have lasted for an easy decade. Anyway.
After a long talk, Tyrion ends up leaving with the babe, because it is now time to get the people out of King’s Landing. So he leaves to guarantee the safety of his last nephew or niece because that is all that matters to Cersei and Jaime. (So he’s basically ahead of this massive like exodus of people from King’s Landing because we’re saving the citizens, not killing them. Because it is the people that make a Kingdom a Kingdom, not the crown. that should have been the message conveyed.) We have a moment where Cersei and Jaime hold their child together and kiss their brow. There is another reason that they have to stay behind, but as they hand the child off to Tyrion’s care, the bells start ringing. And everyone takes to the streets, with strict instructions to take only what you need and what you can carry.
Daenerys and company arrives to help escort them out to travel south, because they’re literally fleeing an enemy form the north that cannot die. And just as Dany watches the tail end of the people start to approach the city gates, Dany freezes when she hears the soul shaking echo of a horn, and Drogon stops moving and his head lifts. And she looks over from where she is sitting on his back. Dany recalls what this means because Jon, who is a man of the night’s watch, informed her of what this means. And as that horn blows, she recites to herself, knowing full well it is Jon himself echoing that off.
“ One horn.” She utters. And searches for Jon’s company. “It means men are returning..”
The second horn echoes into the air and her eyes widen in confusion, because “The second horn... it means there are wildings coming-..” Because it makes no sense, they’re on the same side. And for a moment she thinks of how she looked and met those very same Wildlings.
Then that is when the third horn goes off, and she feels her blood turn to ice. And it’s time for her little line: “The dead...are already here.”

TYWIN LANNISTER: AND THE BIG QUESTION.
What big question am I referring to? The one that every single soul on this planet is asking, and that is:
Why did Tywin Lannister sleep with Shae?
And you guys should know that the answer came to me by complete accident one day while I was musing over Cersei. I was thinking over Cersei’s projection of her losing Jaime unto Lancel Lannister. George once compared Cersei to a wife who got a telegram that her husband had been lost in the war. She had been convinced for this time that Jaime was very well gone, and beyond their reach. When people grieve the people they lose, they sometimes project their feelings when denying had become too much. And Cersei in her natural state of denying of feelings- latched onto the one piece that reminded her of Jaime. Every one remembers how Lancel had confessed to wanting to be Jaime, how he had dressed like him and tried to pick up his mannerisms when Jaime was gone. And Cersei did what any other person did in their stage of grief, she clung to this morsel of the man she loved. (And like all moments like this- there was only the bitter taste of regret that followed immediately after. there was absolutely no love there- she once referred to him as ‘humping dutifully’ - which means that Cersei- a very passionate lover when it comes to those she loves just played dead fish. no love just big time projecting..)
A FEAST FOR CROWS - CERSEI II
Cersei wondered how he intended to atone for her. Knighting him was a mistake, and bedding him a bigger one. Lancel was a weak reed, and she liked his newfound piety not at all; he had been much more amusing when he was trying to be Jaime. What has this mewling fool told the High Septon? And what will he tell his little Frey when they lie together in the dark? If he confessed to bedding Cersei, well, she could weather that. Men were always lying about women; she would put it down as the braggadocio of a callow boy smitten by her beauty.
Now, as I was thinking this over. I did something completely by accident and accidentally compared Cersei and Lancel to Tywin and Shae. Now let me say this, before everyone starts shaking their heads. Tywin Lannister is Cersei’s FATHER. The very basis of his entire being is 50% of what starts Cersei’s entire existence. (And the other 50% is Joanna). I think the reason it was so hard for literally everyone (including myself) to see this (and why it took me so long) is because people are trying so HARD to completely separate her from her Tywin Lannister. When in actuality, she is- in her own way- her Father’s Daughter.
Just not in the way she wants. She wants to be the ruthless tactician, the embodiment of power that is their House of Lannister. But see the reason that is? Is because she has ZERO training in real politics and real battle, nor does she have any experience in real war time on a battlefield. Cersei isn’t dumb, but she isn’t trained in the matters she wants to be. (Also we have to remember that this is a misogynistic society. Every single male looking on to Cersei has some sort of AUTOMATIC downplayed opinion on anything Cersei does. None of the ladies, save for Asha Greyjoy and Catelyn Stark, have real training when it comes to these matters. -remember the mistakes that Daenerys has also made, a young woman who is learning as she goes-) BUT!!! Cersei’s mind an the way that it works, her thought process and paranoia, is all that of her father’s. Cersei’s structure of thinking, her mindset, is all just like Tywin’s.
Remember that mention on Tywin’s grief?
A Storm of Swords - Tyrion V
A queer time to come visiting. His mother had died giving him birth, so the Martells would have found the Rock deep in mourning. His father especially. Lord Tywin seldom spoke of his wife, but Tyrion had heard his uncles talk of the love between them. In those days, his father had been Aerys’s Hand, and many people said that Lord Tywin Lannister ruled the Seven Kingdoms, but Lady Joanna ruled Lord Tywin. “He was not the same man after she died, Imp,” his Uncle Gery told him once. “The best part of him died with her.” Gerion had been the youngest of Lord Tytos Lannister’s four sons, and the uncle Tyrion liked best.
Tywin Lannister shut down when his Lady Lannister passed away. Everyone knows this. But it’s the one thing that shows that he and Cersei have the same approach to these things. The same approach to their emotional aspects of life. (Not to mention the reason -prophecy aside- this is where Cersei learned her approach to Tyrion.)
Okay, now take that this is all out of the way. Remember that grief I mentioned above of Cersei’s? When she thought that Jaime was did? Okay. Good. Keep it in mind, and now blow it up to a span of THIRTY YEARS. Take shutting down, take denying feelings, take channeling blame on one “”thing”” that killed their other half, and stretch it out to decades. DECADES rather than months. See what I’m saying? It won’t take much after this, considering how the human mind and body works.
Now- onward to Shae. Shae is known for having a sassy little mind to play these little word games with Tyrion. She’s witty in her own way, with a sharp tongue to match her joy or ire. (We all know of the back and forth. Take Shae, threaten her life- and put her in the room with the most powerful man in the Seven Kingdoms. She’s going to be turning up her game a hundred times over.
Okay we got all these factors in mind. Because I’m in no way comparing Joanna and Shae, only insinuating that Joanna, herself- held some favorable wit that kept Tywin on his feet.
So Imagine. Shae turns up her game, so to speak, and speaks back to Tywin. And says something, of who knows what natures, that makes Tywin blink. And it’s not that he felt attraction to Shae- no there was never any attraction to anyone- if going by the example of Cersei. There was nothing but ‘dutiful humping’ happening. No. What I am saying, is that for a BRIEF second, no matter how short or subtle, or how Shae looked for just a second, after THIRTY YEARS OF DENIED GRIEF THAT HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN WITH A TOSS OF HIS ENTIRE SOUL INTO THE DUTY TO HIS HOUSE (maybe a promise to joanna they will flourish?) AND A HARDEN THAT TURNED A LITERAL MAN INTO STONE-
Tywin Lannister thought of Joanna Lannister.
And that STRAW on the back of a Lion holding up an entire house, was enough to crack open a thirty year old wound. And Tywin did to Shae, what Cersei did to Lancel.
And that, people of all genders, is the answer to the question you’ve all been asking.
#she had no idea they would shave her like aslan [ meta ]#deserved rainbows [ tywin ]#the gods did not listen [ joanna ]#(*DEEP INHALE*)#(i hope??? this all makes sense??)#(im brain dead i can't edit this forgive the mistakes i'll return tomorrow)

why i think cersei was in daenerys’s vision
A Clash of Kings - Daenerys IV
Not all the doors were closed. I will not look, Dany told herself, but the temptation was too strong.
In one room, a beautiful woman sprawled naked on the floor while four little men crawled over her. They had rattish pointed faces and tiny pink hands, like the servitor who had brought her the glass of shade. One was pumping between her thighs. Another savaged her breasts, worrying at the nipples with his wet red mouth, tearing and chewing.
Farther on she came upon a feast of corpses. Savagely slaughtered, the feasters lay strewn across overturned chairs and hacked trestle tables, asprawl in pools of congealing blood. Some had lost limbs, even heads. Severed hands clutched bloody cups, wooden spoons, roast fowl, heels of bread. In a throne above them sat a dead man with the head of a wolf. He wore an iron crown and held a leg of lamb in one hand as a king might hold a scepter, and his eyes followed Dany with mute appeal.
A Feast for Crows - Cersei IX
Dawn was breaking over King's Landing when they climbed from the tub. The queen's skin was white and wrinkled from her long immersion. "Stay with me," she told Taena. "I do not want to sleep alone." She even said a prayer before she crawled beneath her coverlet, beseeching the Mother for sweet dreams.
It proved a waste of breath; as ever, the gods were deaf. Cersei dreamt that she was down in the black cells once again, only this time it was her chained to the wall in place of the singer. She was naked, and blood dripped from the tips of her breasts where the Imp had torn off her nipples with his teeth. "Please," she begged, "please, not my children, do not harm my children." Tyrion only leered at her. He was naked too, covered with coarse hair that made him look more like a monkey than a man. "You shall see them crowned," he said, "and you shall see them die." Then he took her bleeding breast into his mouth and began to suck, and pain sawed through her like a hot knife.
She woke shuddering in Taena's arms. "A bad dream," she said weakly. "Did I scream? I'm sorry."

The meta, I made, via discord. to @estoires
Okay so after ,the spear is broken. After the fighting. And Oberyn jumps up and jams the spear into his Chest, notice how both Jaime and Tyrion are smilingJaime enjoys the thrill of the battle, and is kinda being gay here, so he's enjoying the SPORT and the SWAG that Oberyn is bleeding off in his confidence to destroy the Mountain. But Cersei hasn't forgotten just what exactly they are here for. Yes, she understands and REMEMBERS the mutual understanding of their shared vengeance, and even so- Cersei doesn't hold it against Oberyn that he is literally out to kill and put Tywin into ruin for the wrong doing that he has done to Elia. She remembers that they found an understanding in a dead sister, and a dead son. But in this moment, when faced between the honor of Elia, and Joffrey. She has definitely chosen her side.note here-
when it is just about guaranteed that Oberyn has yes, indeed killed The Mountain, giving Tyrion the freedom of his accused crime of Joffrey's death, both regicide and nepoticide (kin killing), you notice that Cersei has been slowly and surely finishing her wine and strangling that damn fan.(edited)When push comes to shove, Sae, to Cersei Elia's death does not trump Joffrey's deathAnd I imagine, it's the same on a mutual leave, as to Oberyn, Joffrey's death does not trump Elia'sYes, there is care that accompanies this understanding. But when faced against that which will bring her first born child justice? Nothing stands up to par.Her children are her world sae, her absolute world , After Joffrey's death, Cersei knows no logic.she doesn't stop to think that maybe it was someone else, maybe it was the bitch Olenna, maybe it was Petyr. No, all she sees is Tyrion, and right now for Joffrey to have justice, Tyrion must die. And not only that, but to preserve herself and House Lannister- Tyrion must diewhich is why , the second Oberyn dies, and fucks up, Cersei is the first to show how satisfied she is
She has never thanked the gods, but now it would seem to her the gods had given her justice this day. The first day in her entire life, justice for her sonand yes, even she said it in essence, 'if only he hadn't taunted him 'Cersei isn't smiling for Oberyn's defeat, she isn't smiling for Oberyn's loss, for Elia's, for Tywin's victory, but for the believed Victory she has gotten over her own life, via death of the valonqar, murderer of her son, and doom bringer of her family

Jaime is scornful and hateful of Joffrey IN CANON though? Like Jaime literally says that Joffrey was nothing more than "a squirt in Cersei's cunt" deserved to die (!) literally the ONLY person who loved Joff was Cersei (Though I think Tyrion did too, in his own way, what with his attempts at correcting Joffrey's behaviour and trying to mold him to being a good king. No one else makes such an attempt)
We Only Love and Respect Joffrey Here Nonnie | AnonymousAccepting Fealty For King Joffrey Here, always, Thank you Nonnie.
You know, Nonnie, I haven’t been impressed with Tyrion since he struck Joffrey to the ground and kicked him, and then threatened to Rape Tommen to make Cersei listen to him. (Why is it funny to see Joffrey being slapped I will never understand. It would be an uproar if it was anyone else being struck so that is the same age as him. It’s basically saying that ‘oh it’s okay for this 13 year old boy to be abused by his uncle because he’s a spoiled brat anyway and his mom is a bitch’. No, I don’t agree with that.) But my dislike for Tyrion is a whole other thing that you all know about [and i swear if any other person comes up to me again and shouts at me about how Tyrion was the real rape victim over Tysha I am going to have a FIT and will verbally slap them this time.] All of his over looked and erased flaws despite how they scream in the books and the general fandom’s made pedestal for him has ruined him for me. So I’m not even going to discuss him here.
Where exactly does it say that JAIME thinks that JOFFREY, his FIRST BORN SON, the one he always regrets that he never got to hold deserved to die? Which book is it in? It’s certainly not ASOIAF? Did good ol’ Georgie make another set of books that I haven’t seen? I don’t understand that? WHERE does he say the exact words; “I hate Joffrey. He needed to die. I’m so happy he’s dead.” In fact " deserved to die (!) little excerpts from a father denying his grief over losing his son-
Jaime sat silent through it all, letting the words wash over him, a horn of ale forgotten in his one good hand. Joffrey. My blood. My firstborn. My son…
“ —- You should have come sooner,” She murmured, when he took her in his arms. “Why couldn’t you come sooner, to keep him safe? My boy …”
Our boy. “I came as fast as I could.” –
And the famous;
I’ve lost a hand, a father, a son, a sister ,a lover, and soon enough I will lose a brother. And yet they keep telling me House Lannister won this war.
ANYWHO.
The Lannister’s are renowned for suppressing their emotions, just looking at the Lannister children alone. Tyrion drinks and whores, Cersei drinks, and Jaime turns to brash humor, All three of which have an equal harsh temperament because of denied feelings. From my understanding this is one of many things that he shares with Cersei. They both turn to something to protect themselves from the feelings that are hurting them. They shut down, they turn to something easier to deal with. Cersei turns to anger, and Jaime shuts himself off. Recall how he told Tommen that very thing- when something is too much to handle. Shut down. Cover it up. or in Jaime’s case, push it away. Cersei in her own grief, unintentionally shoves Jaime away emotionally and denies him his own grief over his son. So what does he do? He covers it up, Jaime, like Cersei, turns to anger.
Recall the moment in the show how Jaime was indeed there, and recall how when Jaime ran to Joffrey’s side as he lay there convulsing in poison. Recall how Cersei ran up and shoved Jaime away. That is EXACTLY what remains in the books, except it represents an equal deeper level because by denying him, even in death, the acknowledgement that this was their boy rather than hers. She cut him off the way his hand had been severed, again, a gesture toward losing a hand, a father, a son—
So imagine how Cersei compensates her grief for her anger. Okay. Imagine how it would be if she was not only cut off from her grief but also her anger? Eh? You see what is happening here now?
Cersei never allowed him to hold Joffrey in his birth, never allowed him near, for the safety of them all because the littlest suspicion could endanger them all. Because during that time, even Cersei knew that their tie to the throne depended solely on Robert’s name. Thus Jaime had no choice but to be bared from his son’s infancy, childhood, and thus grew distant from his son. And furthermore created an unfulfilled void inside of him, and in his anger, jealous rage, bitterness over this, he himself never gave any meaning to the term Uncle and regrets it later. He doesn’t get to know his son, and before he even gets a chance to try and get to know him- [ and I repeat, his blood, his first born, his son...] he was taken from him. So, like Cersei’s bitter thoughts later calling Jaime a wretched creature, Jaime’s thought’s shouldn’t be taken into too much LITERAL consideration and should be considered more through the eyes of a hurt man, who lost himself, his son, the grounds of which his life is built around is shaken [of course by this I mean the falling OUT of Sync with Cersei] and everything he knows. And like a proper Lannister, turns to the only thing he knows. Rage.
SO why don’t you say what you really want to say and repeat your hinted thought of how Joffrey DESERVED To die. Go on. And please. Stop forcing your OOC hate for a character on someone who loved them as best as he could, and is currently struggling with his grief and loss over said character.

PSA:
Cersei Lannister is not nice to bastards.
While she is general nice to people’s face, she will smile, compliment, treat everyone as pleasantly as possibly (again I press on the term TO THEIR FACES.) She would charm an entire feast table ,an entire room, a REALM, if she so pleases (there is a reason one of her titles is ‘LIGHT OF THE WEST’) . But a bastard, of any name, house, acknowledged or unacknowledged, she will downright ignore. She has nothing to gain from them, and in her experience with bastards they have caused nothing but meager annoyance on her end. (What with Robert’s bastards, the few in her house, etc etc.).
The general concept of people disliking bastards and all concepts surrounding them set aside, Cersei generally looks down on everyone and anyone who isn’t a part of her inner circle of loved ones. (and this is what- four? five people?). Bastard, in Cersei’s eyes, would be a step down even from that. Not even worth looking at.
[;; And yes this is even an ideal that she would pass on to her children.]

hey, first off you do cersei a crazy amount of justice, so thanks for being rad. i have a question on your opinion about the pregnancy thing? do you think it's legit? i mean, she knew what bronn did, knew jaime thinks it's a unwinnable war, and i know she loves jaime, but do you think it's possible this is her way of making sure to keep him on her side (or at the very least keep him from giving up)? what if she isn't pregnant at all? thoughts?
Sweet Nice Precious Nonnie’ | Anonymous
Thank you Nonnie, that is so sweet of you. Thank you. If you haven’t noticed I’m drinking heavily now, emotionally not literally, because somehow the Lannisters have become nothing but side characters. I have no way of describing that entire scene other than the entire fact that it was OOC. Yes I get it, Cersei was angry.
Cersei and Jaime are viciously mean to each other when they’re angry with one another. When Jaime and Cersei are upset, like angry really angry. They call each other official titles. Like Cersei going ‘You are dismissed, Ser Jaime.’ and he’ll go something like ‘Very well, Your Grace.’ They get like really really formal when they’re mad.
Cersei is upset. I’ve played this on repeat in my head the entire time. She’s angry about Tyrion, grief that she shoved away over Joffrey was brought up. She’s angry that Jaime did that, and expecting punishment for Bronn is something I think she’d make out of a brash anger. i said so many times before she has bad judgment and does things often without considering them past a certain extent.
But Cersei Lannister would never, ever, EVER, use her pregnancy as a means to control Jaime. Like maybe over stupid things like, hey man get me some fruit, rub my feet, im pregnant im craving this or that. You know things to make him an daddy minion. I hate how it was shown, I hate how it was made to look. NO matter how grief stricken she always is, all the cruel things that she and Jaime have said to each other.
Using her pregnancy like that is not one of them.
But yes, I do believe that she is pregnant. I hate that other people somehow now think that Cersei’s children can be anyone’s but Jaime’s? Jaime is literally the ONLY man she would ever have children with, and unlike most characters she can actually count how many people she has had sex on one hand. (even in the books I don’t count Blackkettle or w/e because *coughs* rape *cough* ). Because Cersei loves her children, she loves having her babies and her tiny ones to dress up and love upon. It’s not something she’d make up to control anyone.
Besides D&D are only using Cersei’s love and belief of a baby meaning HOPE. (let me say how this was the woman who said that her children are the reason she’s alive), as a means of furthering her tragedy. Because apparently the pain of women sells.

real legit question in the name of science, would cersei like mac and cheese?
Random | @wolfshroudAccepting
In modern, Cersei has in fact had been subjected to mac and cheese. I mean, she has three kids. All of which I’m sure had a macaroni and cheese phase. I have a feeling that perhaps Joffrey never left it. and her younger two still want it once in a while. So Cersei would indeed have to get used to eating it often (because how can you say no to those little faces?), and would grow her own taste for it as a mother.
So yes. It’s safe to say yes.

DECLARATION/HEADCANON/THING- SHOW
TOMMEN’S SUICIDE
I’ve said this so many, MANY, times before that it wasn’t Cersei’s fault for what Tommen did in the show. And I see it very parallel like because Cersei herself had attempted suicide and that was by the means of throwing herself from the nearest tower. (i will never understand it when people, all the anti-Cersei’s and the trolls i mean, say that it was her fault. nobody ever tells a mother that her own child’s death was her doing. ever-) .
Since knowing the love of a mother, since having felt it for the first time as she looked upon her babes for the very first time it was always tinged with a mother’s fear. With Tommen’s birth she had realized how much of the prophecy has become true already. The first part was her having three children, Robert having 16, and then her losing all three of them before her own downfall began. And as Cersei lived on watching each of her children begin to grow she realized more and more as time goes on that she couldn’t imagine her life without them. And thus began to feel something that she hated; fear. Fear of losing all that she held dear to her Fear of losing Joffrey, Myrcella, and Tommen. And thus, started her endeavor to see that her children see a long and happy life.
She is is so focused on this goal that when Joffrey dies in her arms, forever mad about it, Cersei’s fear is revamped into an even higher level. As a natural mother is when she loses her children she is super protective of her last cubs, and then throw all that denied grief on top of it, and you have yourself the finest prettiest emotional implosion ever.
So by the time we see her again she has not lost one, but two children. Joffrey has died, Myrcella has died, and now her last boy has turned on her by manipulations by the High Sparrow and Margaery Tyrell. (I also really wish we could have known if Marg had convinced Tommen of w/e plan she had to usurp the High Sparrow because two episodes before that he was asking Cersei to help him be strong? He wouldn’t turn on her like that. Anyway)
Cersei is so intent on protecting one of the last lights in her life she does everything that she need to do it. And that means taking out every single person responsible for danger against his safety. Oh but why didn’t she leave Ser Gregor with him? Because Cersei could never had known that he would do this. Cersei had spent Tommen’s ENTIRE life protecting him from those who would do him harm - I sincerely believe that Tommen was a fragile even as a babe, and this only lead Cersei to be more protective of him. To push more strength on him in hopes that he would strengthen himself. - that she didn’t think that she had to protect Tommen from himself. What could she have seen when she spent so much time fighting off everyone else that she didn’t realize that the one thing that could happen could very well HAPPEN from the inside.
She could never have foretold what could have happened, and neither is it her fault.
It never was her fault.

Not trying to invalidate your point(!), but by this logic one might also argue that Gregor can't be fully responsible for what he did to Elia, and even less for Sandor and his sister. Of course brains are not completely developed until about the mid-twenties, yet traits or also defects like psychopathy can clearly show before that age, and judging from actual cases like Charles Manson, they tend to do.
2) Generally though it's mostly the parents' influence that has a great deal on the child's behaviour, thus of course Robert's abuse would either amplify the tendencies Joffrey had or even cause him to develop them.
3)+ (concerning Gregor): since he canonically constantly has severe migraine, he is incredibly unstable and thus might not even be able to ever judge properly on his actions. (Now I'm done
Random Things | @sermountain
Yes but see Joffrey and Cersei are not Gregor Clegane. The logic I use is not as complex you’re making it sound. Despite my 200% Cersei Lannister bias I approach matters with a fair LOGICAL approach. Me saying that Joffrey, a 13 year old child the same age as Danaerys in the beginning of the books, does not deserve all of this hate and the way that he died does not mean that I’m saying the Elia, a mother like Cersei, deserves to lose her children and die the way she did. I repeat what I said so many times before: NO MOTHER DESERVES TO LOSE HER CHILDREN AND NO CHILD DESERVES DYING SO HORRIBLY AND VIOLENTLY THEY WAY THE THESE ONE DID.
Would Joffrey have become a better man as he grew? Would he have gotten over that anger, that all abused kids have at some point or another, and learned that all he needed he already had, and that was his mother’s love? Or would he have spiraled down more and let his anger and anxieties consume him like his mother? Unless George says so himself we will never know because he died at THIRTEEN.
Now as for Gregor Clegane himself, I do not knw him as well as you do. I spend my time talking about Cersei Lannister and all of her adjoined family. I’m going to confess that I actually don’t pay him any mind until he becomes Ser Gregor/Ser Robert because then he’s completely and utterly under obedience to Cersei and Cersei alone. But any headcanons or thoughts like that you have I’m sure you can make headcanon posts on your own blog because you know him better than I do.
