ive been reading a lot of questions on the astrology subreddit today and my mercury seemed to be incredibly stuck in the gravitational pull of saturn as a topic- i saw Multiple takes that i did Not agree with whatsoever and decided to make a post like this to debunk a whole lot of them and give you my take on what Saturn really is in astrology

saturn is most commonly associated with the physical plane of being, the material, money, finances, business, etc, all because it rules an earth sign and saturn, the god, was a god of abundance, wealth and agriculture.

bc of saturn's association with money and the material, capricorn as a sign also got a bad rap for being overly concerned with the material, money, work, and while this isn't a Bad rap, being good at managing finances as well.

if u know my blog well enough by this point, it shouldn't be a surprise that i IMMENSELY disagree with this 😵‍💫😵‍💫

to me, saturn is the first of the outer planets, and jupiter is not the last of the inner planets, jupiter is the bridge between the inner and outer planets.

where jupiter invites us to cross over to and be made aware of the higher realms of existence, saturn is the first step into those same higher realms.

jupiter is the beckoning, saturn is the answering.

as such, saturn represents ultimately the dissolution of our egos, but in this lifetime, the balance between the two.

that seems like a huge jump from what it's traditionally associated with right? well let's look at the sciency stuff real quick.

saturn's rings are an incredible phenomenon, they require just enough gravitational pull from the planet to hold them in place, and they need to be far enough away in order for the planet not to suck them in completely.

but ultimately this is a losing battle, saturn's rings will eventually dissipate within about 100 million years saturn will go bald 💔

the rings are a perfect representation of balance, and their inevitable fate is a perfect representation of what will eventually and always end.

you cannot always have balance, saturn is perfectly aware of this, but you have to have balance for as long as you must.

you have to balance your ego with your soul for as long as you live, and then when you return to the nothing, your ego will completely dissolve.

this is what saturn is.

saturn is about inevitable transcendance.

the ego is a purely human concept, but it still manages to be sorely misunderstood.

your ego is not you, it's your titles, your labels, what you are to other people, etc. the ego is saying "I am a mother", "I am a CEO", "I work for [thing]", "I do [thing]", "I am a husband", etc.

your ego is what you can offer to other people.

your Soul doesn't care about any of that, your soul says "I am me", "I am a person", that's it. your soul is you, your ego is essentially your human identity.

saturn reminds us that none of us are people, none of us are CEOs or mothers or anything, we are all spiritual beings undergoing a physical experience. but it doesn't rip us away from that physical experience, it just encourages the awareness that there's more to it than what we can see.

this is why saturn demands balance.

we have to be aware that we are not our bodies, we are not our statuses, we have to be aware that we are beings of pure energy, constantly learning what it means to be alive in as many different formats as possible.

but we can't let that awareness detach us completely from what we're experiencing, because then we won't learn the lessons we signed up for.

what's ironic is that the planet all about dissolution of the ego is the same planet that got a very egoic interpretation. we said saturn is the material, the physical plane of being, money, status, etc, those are all extremely grounded concepts in the sense that they're all human-made. they're all made for the ego.

since saturn is so about dissolution of the ego, this also ties into the fact that, to me, saturn rules over drive and the willpower.

saturn is driven and motivated to hell and back to evolve, this is why capricorns are so often painted as ambitious. they're ambitious, absolutely, but only toward evolution into their highest self.

this is gonna sound like an oxymoron but i honestly believe saturn is exalted in aries instead of libra.

saturn's motto (to me) is "I define who I become", right, think about it- Aries' mantra is literally "I am."

aries seeks the self, it defines itself to know what it is and what it isn't- that's exactly what saturn does.

saturn also therefore is accidentally exalted in the 1st house and feels very comfortable in fire signs.

take me for example- my saturn is in leo in my 1st house and my midheaven is in aries (10th house is saturn's domicile), so my saturn is in trine with the house of its rulership that's in its exaltation (to me) and it's in the house of its exaltation too (1st house has an aries connotation).

the last few months i have actually been going through a HUGE saturn lesson and it dragged my chiron in with it too, and it's been fucking Rough. last night i felt the worst i have felt in years, feeling like i just wanted to give up on life.

today, i am back on my bullshit like nothing ever happened because my saturn in 1st house makes me REFUSE to give up no matter how much life hurts. i have literally fuck it we ball-ed myself out of this shit.

im still working through the lesson, but it was an extremely saturn in leo 1st house lesson.

i forgot how to be comfortable being alone and then when i got comfortable again, i got scared of people ruining it, and im Still scared of people ruining it because i feel like i have no space in my life for anyone else right now.

and before this, i felt like i had no space for myself in my life.

saturn's lessons can be extremely painful, yes, but they're not malefic in any way. they're literally there for us to achieve balance and evolve into what we need to be before we inevitably die and lose our egos completely.

it's a balancing act now, but it'll be a funeral later, for your body and your ego.

gavriil. — you think with looks like his he might sound like an actual angel singing to you while you ascend but NO. his voice very much HURTS. it's always echoes, almost vibrates and sounds like it's coming from your head. he can change it ofc and tone it done for you a little so you can talk to him without headaches <,,) somewhat official and ominous at first, wants to sound as menacing as possible for his first impression. but then, down the line and if he likes you enough, he'll be very casual and nonchalant, throwing in curses and all that. doesn't have a particular accent because bro literally knows every language on earth and more, sounds a little uncanny if anything. artificial maybe. but still just as lively, teasing and sometimes dramatic. purrs... sometimes. can speak directly into your mind and read it too.

xiaolong. — has the most enjoyable voice out the bunch. velvet, melodic, charming. always sounds very convincing and can sell you anything. literally the perfect host. languid and mellow, has a habit of humming "mmm"; "hmm?";"mmhm" and sighing. his voice claim is john park, korean va for espresso cookie, and i think xiao himself has a korean accent. very expressive but also very collected. won't say anything unnecessary. rarely curses.

taisya\tasechka. — jumbled and gurgled speech. absolutely horrid voice, but he usually speaks slowly so you can more or less understand what he says. breathes really hard and swallows words when excited. doesn't speak unless spoken to, and even then gives short, vague answers. no intonations whatsoever. prefers to just shake/nod his head or point and gesture with his hands if he wants something. has an ability to purr too but his version is a little more fucked up.

derzena. — monotone, expressionless, blunt. you will never understand if she's joking or not because this woman is like a BRICK WALL her face and voice never betray her. voice is raspy but pretty quiet, speaks slowly and steadily, clearly thinking everything over in her head before saying something. mimics human speech\animal noises to lure in men that are trespassing on her grounds to later eat them 💪 with her beloved often makes those quick "ekekeke" noises (like the ones cats make when they see a bird or smth...) to show affection. SAVE ME BIG cRYPTID WOMAN

veniamin. — rough, gruff voice. clicks his tongue so loudly he can probably shatter the fucking windows. exasperated and dramatic at all times. usually pretty loud, groans and sighs all the time when annoyed. in the mornings his voice is so raspy it's startling. curses a lot. mocks people's voices when he's angry at them or tries to put them in their place. or just to be a little annoying. HORRIBLE at singing yet does it all the time when he walks around in his house wearing nothing but a robe.

livy. — rarely speaks, usually resorts to clicks and chirps, maybe even hisses if threatened. doesn't have a lot of practice in speaking actual words, so it might be a little hard at first. at least for you, because he seems to understand you perfectly fine, it's you who doesn't understand what mothman wants from you half the time. surprisingly soft but hoarse voice... very warm sounding, idk. pauses and forgets the right words sometimes, but it does not stop him from teasing YOU.

1. Is Watcher!Grian a thing? Or does he have any other watcher-related history? Does WC know? Does anybody know? Would this have any effect on his, say, moveset or knowledge of things?

2. Either way, is Grian still the creator of the games? Have the Watchers hijacked it or was it all the Watchers in the first place? (Dude loses his game and goes whoops. Fuck me I guess. I suppose it's a torture maze now)

3. What about Martyn's Eyes and Ears AU? Will aspects be pulled from that? Say, for example, the falling scene - is that something we see, is that a relevant character who speaks to him? Or is EnE mostly ignored (bc. yk. it's technically an AU anyways)?

4. How do the Watchers operate? Are they like a big pantheon that works together or are they more individualistic? Or would you compare them more with a cult? Are the members often seen as Gods or are they just god-like entities functioning as a group? What about senior figures vs the WC - how do they treat each other?

Watcher!Grian isn't as much of a thing, but he is very much more aware about the Watchers and who they are compared to everyone else. There is a hint of Watcher relation at the end. Grian used to be a Watcher, but was more of an apprentice than a fully fledged watcher; in-between the stages of Watcher Child and an actual Watcher. He was rid of his powers as soon as he entered 3rd Life. But as the series goes on, he gets slightly more and more Watcher possessed---to become a window for them to watch and keep an eye on everyone. The only time he breaks away from it is Wild Life! Wow that was a lot of watcher in this paragraph,,

Grian was the suggester of the games, but did not run them. The Watchers took his idea and claimed credit, turning it into a torture game for entertainment. Of course, it wasn't originally meant to be, which is why Grian knows the rules but wouldn't expect the horrors to come like the rest of the group.

Martyn's EnE AU will have slight involvement, fragment-wise. Three hearts symbolizing their lives will be placed on different parts of their body (for example, for Third Life, Martyn's hearts would be placed onto his cheek, which is also where his fragment goes (I think? I don't watch Martyn as often)).

How the watchers function as a society is more so unrevealed. All you really figure out is about TOPTS, The One Pulling The Strings. TOPTS is essentially a Watcher hivemind, connecting everyone. Though it lives and breathes, it's not necessarily alive, but is the only thing above the Watchers. Inside of TOPTS belongs the Source Code, aka the Heart. Now I thought of the name Source Code, it felt really familiar to smth else so that name might change lol idk where I got it from. Anyways, the Source Code is the very thing that channels all life---the reason of the Watchers, Lifers, and other creatures' existences. But it can get corrupted, and everything can go awry, so it'd not invincible.

Well, it's more of a beta design (have to confirm with others), but this is how I draw them!

They are feminine, but not a girl whatsoever. Watchers don't really have a concept of gender because yk theyre kind of deities, but Watcher Children can have human ish traits as they're not fully fledged Watchers and can only take their Creature Form.

Another thing is that the Watcher Realm is so incredibly random, they try to create it off of Earth. So there will be fake, purple plants, and giant, "bustling" cities (that are completely empty) with "greenery" right next to a literal wasteland o a desert. And then right next to that, is a beautiful, even MORE fake ocean that doesn't even continue. It just stops really abruptly. Not really a lake, completely like an ocean, except at some point it just cuts off and theres just a wall of water. Its a bit hard to explain LOL but I hope your questions were answered!!

You chose the song and let me tell you what happened. I accidentally opened it in two windows, asynchronously, offset by almost exactly 42 seconds, and then i didn't shut the second window because it blew my fucking mind. Now I can't stop listening to it like this. 😂 It clashes in a couple places but that just feels appropriately eerie because it's such a weird fucking song. Like if i didn't look at the windows, i couldn't tell you when one ends and it's only the other winding down. I'm pretty sure it only works so well because the vocaloid's cadence and intonation are all so bizarre. Anyway that's where I'M at.

The song SCREAMS Sephiroth/Cloud to me. The lyrics just go right along with their whole story, plus the fact that its weird and kind of disembodied fits their mental states really well.

W - A trope which you are virtually certain to hate in any fandom.

hoooo boy, there are many of these. i stuck with my top two for the sake of not being here all week. also, before i dive in, i wanted to say that if a trope is done really well, i will likely enjoy it anyway, and i LOVE subverted tropes, especially for comedy purposes.

1: Woobified badasses. I really dislike seeing characters who are grown-ass adults who Have Seen Some Shit de-fanged, de-clawed, and behaving like teenaged girls (unless it's forced feminization for BDSM in which case we can talk as FUCK). Anyway, we are all free to play-pretendsies however we like and i'm not offended—it's all fiction—i just don't really want to read it. i don't mean tough-guys having soft moments, i actually LOVE that (give me sephiroth gently carrying a kitty cat to safety before he goes back to finish immolating nibelheim any day). however, oftentimes i see this particular trope happening and it's clearly because the writer has too little scope or empathy, and can't inhabit a character's actual perspective enough to write them in-character. which is perfectly fine, but not for me. i don't demand rigorous adherence to canon (obviously considering every single character i write is trans and/or gay and/or pansexual) but i like the fictional characters i like to at least be recognizable.

2: Pregnancy. Ugh. First of all, it's never done well. Can I ask about the myths of the Gods having children with mortals? I once came across post that talked about Zeus in particular on the reason he sleeps with mortals and have children with them. So they argued that Zeus was focused more on having strong descendants considering all mortals he after was mortals with status and power. That means everything he does was with reasons. So that's on the myth part, on the reality part, they said there was a lot of myths about Gods having mortals children to give more strength and history to the city where they claimed their ancestors to be the children of the Gods, like divine rights of king and having your king as descendants from divinity sort of thing. So ancient people wanted their hometown to be related with the divine and everything thus why we have origin myths like such. I want to know if that was true about the greek myths on such cases?

Absolutely arguably all gods have more or less had children with mortals in Greek mythology with a few exceptions of course such as the goddesses that sworn celibacy and did not wish to have relations whatsoever. And yes all gods' offspring play a role on earth either for good or bad. Also it is true that gods like Zeus do not randomly copulate to have fun and children pop up. Zeus deliberately seeks for lovers and deliberately leaves children behind. I had even answered to a friend here on the matter. Zeus doesn't just copulate with women he finds in the street. All women are princesses or queens or royal descendants. Arguably many of his lovers start from lines he starter himself (thus most of the heroes have more or less some relation to each other) The aspect of nobility of blood is of course present to Zeus's lovers as well as all the kings of mythology of course given how Zeus is first and foremost a king.

Yes and no. ancient Greeks used myths as foundation of their cities or of their tradition. A special type of myth is the founding myth which basically involves a story of a god or a hero that somehow travels, acts or leaves offspring to an area. This was used by the Greeks as a tradition that "they already went there before". So if an ancient Greek fleet arrived at an area to build a colony or something similar, the founding myth served as an "excuse" as to why that specific place or area. The myth served as an allegoric proof that Greeks were already there even before that first colony was set. Founding myths, naturally, grew way too much between 7th and 6th centuries BC where we have the large wave of colonization across the Mediterannean sea and the spread of Hellenism

For example Heracles sending his nephew Iolaus along with some of his sons he got to Spain to colonize the area. That myth was used as a founding myth of the Greek cities found at the area of Spain

The irony is that there is also plenty of truth in the allegories given that the Greeks traveled around Mediterannean already from Bronze Age since we discover not only the signs of pottery and exchanges between the nations but we also discover signs of settlement or influences between the civilizations that date at least as far back as the zenith of Mycenean civilization. But for the rest you are absolutely right that arguably the gods in general but definitely Zeus in particular definitely have a plan. Zeus indeed populated the world with heroes or kings and everyone relieved the world from monsters or tyrants etc which was also how the Greeks perceived it too allegorically. The heroes or the kings that end up coming of existence they rule an area and that area has its own evolution in that spectrum thus also the many different versions of myths and many different stories depending on local traditions or local beliefs etc. Of course not all demigods have extraordinary powers like Heracles for example. Some of them do some of them don't. Their role also is not necessarily as spectacular as some Heracles doing his labors or some Perseus cutting off Medusa's head. Some of the demigods have a different history for example Asclepius's work as a healer and his journey, some myths that revolve around Autolycus and his parentage from Hermes that eventually brought Odysseus to the world, Helen as a demigoddess that was the excuse for a conquering war that gave Greeks more territory and more power etc.

Also the supposed leader of the Hyyders Squad. Mayhaps is 42? No one knows, his id just says hes 40+. A Earth Human.))

Joslyne Roregiz Shepard ((Angy lady who's was also a retired military officer but now lives with a old lady who she calls a boomer. Does not care whatsoever if she's hurting you, she's only a "bite first questions last" type of person. Basically the fighter of the squad but really thinks she the leader due to thinking Gerald is not actually capable to be a leader even though the squad is a... research team... Is 35. Also a Earth human but a bit unhinged.))

Triss Fallison ((Guy with low self esteem & may have a identity crisis every now & then (poor guy). Is oddly innocent & kinda doesn't know what is going on but he hold some pretty dark secrets only his adopted family knows. Is around 24 but his past still sometimes gets to him. Is one of newer members of the group & he is mainly the harvester & collector (although may have been threatened by Joslyne many times that she WILL use him as a meat shield so he is kinda scared of her). Jelly Boi but was raised by a Serpenskolk couple who is now trying to fit into human society.))

Dyan'nah Laemeria Kon'sai ((Old lady who for some reason has a major immunity to poisons & the effects of eating tainted food. Is a no bs person who is also tired of Joslyne's (her current roommate) rampant bs & wishes that lady who's like in her 30s stop acting like a child BECAUSE SHE KNOWS SHE WAS A MILITARY OFFICER! Is teh pharmacist/nurse of the group & often test the herbs that Triss brings in. May look like in her late 40s but is actually a lot older than that but due to mechanical science she looks pretty young by her standards. The last person of a now extinct race of exo-humans but she was born in a lab owned by Stellowbark.))

Theresa and Steve, a love story for the ages.. part 2

Part 2: A little ditty about Jack and Theresa. This will be short. 

In chapter 3, Theresa goes to Boston College. Before she even has time to settle down, guys are already staring at her in the cafeteria. 

”There was a group of kids at a nearby table looking at me.  A girl learns to read expressions. ”

Every time Norman describes how girls/women think, I lose a brain cell. 

”One boy was intently looking at me.  I called him Mr. Intense.  He was very handsome, with short hair as black as my own, and he was around six feet which was a good match for my five feet four inches.  I liked taller guys and apparently he liked smaller girls. He wasn’t gawking at a pretty girl, or lusting for her body.  He looked interested.  And that’s ok.  A girl gets used to being looked at.”

This is Steve. She’s basically in love with him already. What’s the difference between lusting for her body and being ”interested”? 

My experience is that most women don’t enjoy being stared at, but men think we do. Norman reminds me of those insufferable guys who think women’s main task on Earth is to attract men. He probably is one of those guys.

In Theresa’s case, of course, she’s already being watched by 400 government agents, so she should be used to it. But I don’t think Norman considered that here. She doesn’t even question whether Steve is a watcher, and that’s why he’s so intently staring at her. This chapter has zero HAL and discusses Theresa like she was an ordinary college student. There’s just one brief interlude - which I will skip here - about her watchers being caught by campus cops. 

One of Norman’s issues as a writer is that he doesn’t even try to fit different parts of the book together. This chapter is about Jack and Steve, so HAL is not relevant here. You’d think if Theresa gives off heat and has super strength, that would be mentioned at least in passing. The boys would notice she gives off heat, right? Or she could slip up and use her powers by mistake. That would have made the book much more interesting. Theresa’s career as a baseball player is also completely dropped, she has no interest in joining college level teams, and no one is pressuring her to do so. 

”   But it wasn’t Mr. Intense who made the first move.  A boy next to him, Mr. Fastmove,  brought his food tray over to my table.”

Mr. Intense is organic, if unoriginal, but Mr. Fastmove… There is a moving company called Fastmove, but apart from that, I didn’t find much on google. Maybe Norman coined this phrase. 

”Hi,” said Mr. Fastmove.  “Can I sit here?”

      “Sure,” I said with a smile.  I had been advised to be friendly from day one or be labeled a tease for the rest of our four years.”

Oh no Norman. No no no. No. 

”I’m Jack Koster,” said Mr. Fastmove.  “Aren’t you Theresa Sullivan, the baseball player?”

      I had been on television a lot.”

Gotta work in those brags at every opportunity. Once you mention his real name, you can drop the nickname, but I think Norman is just proud of what he did here. Also note there is NO description whatsoever of Jack’s looks or manner, just that he came to her table. Norman isn’t even trying. 

“I am,” I said, and we were off and running.  I noticed that Mr. Intense looked disappointed.  It made me think of someone whose neighbor won the lottery.”

Being with Theresa is like winning the lottery. Our humble girl. 

I genuinely don’t understand why she hooks up with Jack at all. All she had to do was say ”nice to meet you” and walk away. She shouldn’t feel obligated to date the boy who happens to talk to her first. 

Next, Theresa looks up both boys on BC’s computer system where, in 2017, ”BC provided free disk space and all the students were urged to set up a webpage about themselves before they got to school.” Norman probably wrote this part in 2001 and forgot to change it.

This is all she says about Jack: 

” Jack was a boy from close to New York City but not in it.  His father was owner of a specialty food store.  Jack was going to be a history major, a guarantee of a job in his father‘s store.”

Is Norman negging history majors? This reminds me of a skit show that advertised college degrees, including a 13-year degree for really dumb students who are just killing time before they get a job in their father’s business. Maybe Norman thinks history is equally pointless. (With the exception of Joan of Arc.) 

But enough about Jack, who cares about the boy she’s actually going to date. Let’s talk about Steve. 

”  Mr. Intense was Steve Hartley.  His father was a physicist for Intel and Steve was majoring in physics too.  That was interesting.  He mentioned he was Catholic.  Also interesting. ”

Wow, a Catholic boy in a Catholic college? How interesting. 

”Steve’s page showed the kid of a research physicist, precise, succinct, and somewhat lacking in spontaneity.  Something like myself, actually.  It wasn’t a bad thing, except in reality TV shows where they have to keep the gab going all the time.”

Just date him already. You can’t fully know someone’s personality just based on whatever ”webpage” they set up, either. He’s still a complete stranger. The mention of reality shows really ruins this paragraph, too. If people in reality shows just sat silently, it wouldn’t be very good TV. Norman has to work in every single pet peeve of his. This is a typical problem for people writing their first story. 

” Jack knew I was not the kind of girl who had to put up with foul language or crude jokes, and he carefully avoided them.  He was one smooth operator.”

*headdesk* Being a ”smooth operator” isn’t necessarily a good thing, and is in fact associated with manipulating others. I don’t even know what Norman means here.

” One Sunday Steve saw me at Mass.  He looked embarrassed, like somebody who had missed his chance, not somebody who did something bad.  Well, four years is a long time and the campus had a lot of women.   ”

Why are you even looking at him when you’re dating someone else? 

”Steve seemed nice in person.  He always gave me a little smile like he was glad to see me.  He and Jack were casual friends and apparently didn’t  talk about me.  But I’d seen the looks.  Steve was genuinely interested. ”

Yes, you already made this point. She’s going on about Steve and his interest, while dating Jack. Wouldn’t that be a sin, dating a boy you don’t care about and spending all your time admiring another boy? It doesn’t seem like something a good Catholic girl would do.

”There was nothing wrong with dating Jack for a while.  It was already clear that we were not compatible enough for a lifetime of commitment.  He was a little careless about schoolwork and had no passion for his major.  I was fanatical about mine.  But Jack was fun to be around for the time being.”

She’s fanatical about her major, which she doesn’t even name here. Spoiler alert: it’s math, which she picked because it was meant to help with HAL? I’m not sure how that would have worked. Later on, she says that all she ever wanted was to be a high school math teacher, something she never mentions before that moment. 

After Jack comes to her table, there is not a single scene where Theresa and Jack talk to each other alone, or go on a date. Not a single one. Jack is never fleshed out. What does he look like? Is Theresa attracted to him at all? What’s his personality like? If he has many stories to tell, you could give an example and have him tell a compelling story. That would have been interesting. 

One of the more famous triangle dramas was on ”The Office”. Roy was initially established as a jerk, but he was kind to Pam at least sometimes, and he truly tried to better himself. We knew she would end up with Jim, but Roy was not a complete monster, and he seemed human. Jack has no personality, no description, nothing. I believe KrimsonRogue said that the characters are somehow less than two-dimensional, and Jack definitely fits that description. He’s like a cardboard cutout of a boy. 

”Come October it was Homecoming week, always a big weekend on any college campus.  There were many special activities going on and we had to choose a list.”

Remember this later when she claims BC has no entertainment or parties at all. 

”Friday nights, the kids would ‘hang‘ around,  meaning drift up and down the dormitory hall talking and joking with anybody there. ”

How do you do, fellow kids?

”Jack’s door was open and I walked in.  There were six boys visiting Jack including Steve Hartley, and one girl.”

I guess it’s relevant for later that Steve is there, but it still sounds like she only has eyes for him.  

As Theresa walks into the room, an awkward silence falls. 

”Hi, Theresa” said Jack with not a lot of enthusiasm.  “This is Ginny.”

“Hi” I said.  There was not much else to say until I found out something.

“Ginny dropped in by surprise” Jack said.

”Yeah!  I could see that!  I couldn’t remember seeing her around campus, or at least not in our complex.  She might be somebody from outside.”

This would be a lot more powerful if Theresa actually gave a damn about Jack. 

Also names. Ginny is short for Virginia. There is another character called Virginia later in the book, just like there’s another character called Jack. I doubt Norman has read ”Harry Potter”; he probably knew young girls called Virginia when he was growing up. What’s wrong with age appropriate names for 2017? Emily, Sophia, Madison? 

”The embarrassing silence continued.  Ginny looked very uncomfortable.  She had known no more about me than the other way around.  Ginny’s position near Jack made it clear she considered herself his girlfriend.”

Jack has to be discarded so Theresa can be with Steve. For some reason, Theresa can’t just tell him they’re incompatible and she’s not interested in pursuing the relationship in the long term. He has to cheat on her, because this gives Theresa the moral high ground to dump Jack and move straight onto Steve.  

Norman probably thinks this is a great twist and the readers will be aghast at Jack’s behavior, but it just comes off as flat. He’s shitty, but there’s no stakes, because they hardly have a relationship at all. 

Jack promises to come up to Theresa’s room to talk. 

”I went back upstairs.  This was the most humiliating experience I ever had.  All those boys were watching.”

This at least is a normal human reaction to the events, I’ll give Norman that. But Theresa isn’t truly sad, she’s just embarrassed. It’s not her heart, but her ego that is wounded. 

And this is where the different editions begin. Buckle up for a wild ride through Norman’s weird imagination in part 3: roads diverged in the Kindle, and that made all the difference.

and to be fair i will recognize what good pop astrology has done, it popularized the subject ofc and it is partially the reason i got into astrology, so while i cant be Too mad at it, i Did get into astrology thru pop astrology to essentially disprove pop astrology soo... 😵‍💫

like i said, when i got into astrology, i instantly noticed how many of the same keywords were regurgitated for everything.

that's what i notice most in pop astrology.

pop astrology is where everyone says cancers are crybabies, leos are narcissists, aries are hotheaded and impulsive, capricorns are cold and unemotional, geminis are two-faced, etc.

unfortunately and also fortunately at the same time, i have ungodly pattern recognition in just about everything, so of course i was gonna notice the same thing being said about the same sign and the same house and the same planet over and over again-

and to clarify before we continue (random disclaaaimeerrrrr- hey. dont do Anything that i say in this song-), this is what i personally have observed and experienced with pop astrology, im not sayin that it's All like this, but im talkin abt the very surface level, shallow kinda stuff.

that kinda stuff is what made me not resonate with my rising sign and be incredibly confused by my sun sign-

i would read "what ur like based on ur rising!!!! Cancer: U cry too much." and feel so shitty bro- id have to go look at every other sign to see which one i resonated with more and it was very rarely one of my big 3.

so naturally i was incredibly confused abt astrology but for me, that didnt deter me.

the stereotypes and stuff offered by pop astrology are incredibly harmful and play a huge part in making people not believe in astrology as a whole.

say someone's an aries sun and they read one of those posts for aries sun right- the post says something along the lines of "ur incredibly impulsive, ambitious and extroverted!!! u probably cant control ur anger" and it doesn't resonate whatsoever because guess what their rising sign is capricorn (side note: why do i always manage to default to aries/capricorn in my examples im gonna laugh 😭😭😭) and their saturn is in cap too-

but ofc they wouldnt know their rising or their saturn sign bc those aren't focused on in pop astrology- it's all sun, moon and rising-

the sun, in my opinion, is actually one of the least important placements in a natal chart- and i can do an entire post on my take on the sun dont worry i actually rly want to- but to explain why i think that real quick, the sun is the culmination of the chart, it's not its own placement.

so every other placement in your chart has influence over it, that's why i never related to taurus sun stuff because i dont have any other earth placements in my chart and mercury in gemini is my dominant planet- so i had to look at gemini sun stuff, but i didnt know that until i was like knee deep into astrology.

stereotypes are not only harmful, but also largely inaccurate.

and pop astrology also loves to convey the understanding that astrology can be segmented into little pieces, when it absolutely cannot.

"what drives u based on ur mars sign!! cancer mars: ur family :))))" Die.

BUT- say someone Does actually relate to that!!! there's 2 possibilities: they relate to it and they have mars in cancer OR they relate to it and they Don't have mars in cancer

in both of these scenarios, we are completely overlooking the rest of the chart-

you can't make astrology bite sized without also stripping it of all depth. but you can't deliver in depth astrology without it being overwhelming.

kind of a lose-lose, huh?

here's where we need to understand astrology as if it is a science.

astrology is literally an ecosystem, this is how ive always viewed it. you can't interpret one planet on it's own without taking into consideration the aspects it has to it, the degree it's in, the signs that the planets aspecting it are in.

this is scary, yes, and a great way to ward off beginners, absolutely. But if you think it's scary, then you're overlooking the beauty of learning about something that's an ecosystem.

the beauty is you can't interpret one thing on its own, because everything else will follow.

you cant sit down and learn one thing, because you'll learn a whole slew of things and feel like it's never ending- which can be overwhelming for some and satisfying for others.

imagine walking on a floor covered in wires that are tangled with each other. you kneel down and try to pick up one wire and while you can see part of it clearly, it also brings up like 500 other wires for you to untangle as well.

that's what learning astrology is like.

in my experience, i picked up mercury, and mercury brought with it gemini, saturn, what sextiles are, what conjunctions are, the sun, degree theory, aries, and it just kept going.

and the more wires you pick up, the more wires they bring with them.

this is why i hate pop astrology so much- they're picking up one wire, cutting both visible ends of it and ripping it out of tangled mess that is the floor we stand on.

now we don't know where the rest of that wire is because it was forcibly removed from the bunch.

SO! this is why i try so hard to make these posts and explain how literally Everything depends.

i dont have a ton to say about this i just really like how this panel looks. i still havent gotten around to the first ms marvel comics (slowed down on the comics reading for a,, bit) but i like these little monologe boxes. maybe i should just skip ahead to them,,, we're also *still* not given anything about where the inhumans are hiding out! i wonder if there's even anybody outside the family living there at this point?

once again still not a lot to say im just very excited to see them again. THEY'RE STANDING!!! THEY HAVE LITTLE NAME BOXES!!! THEY LOOK SO GOOD!!!!

i absolutely adore how lockjaw is drawn in this comic. and medusa laying kamala down against him is the cutest thing <3 lockjaw really IS the best cure for all things

now i can definitely see some people getting,,,, upset about these panels. before this i did theorize that the inhuman dna was probably causing problems with the mutation and that was what was causing the "glitching", and i think it makes a lot of sense that terrigen (or lack thereof) IS the cause of this problem! and obviously the mutants wouldnt be able to replicate terrigen, and regardless on if they knew this would cause problems or not (im going to assume they probably didnt have any idea but i also havent read like, any modern xmen comics set in krakoa) of course they wouldnt go ask the inhumans. but im also not sure they could have if they wanted to?

the same with them telling kamala she should have reached out, the inhumans live in hiding right now. and although johnny has been able to call crystal, he (and probably in extension the entire ff) are obviously very close to the inhumans and its reasonable that he and crystal would still be talking. as for anyone else being able to just,,, call them whenever? do most of the xmen have any idea whatsoever that doti even happened? does most of *anyone* on earth know whats going on with the inhumans? so i do think theyre being a bit unfair with this, but also,,,, yeah of course theyre still bitter about the ivx thing!! of course medusa in particular would still be bitter about that!! that was one of the most difficult points in her life, and theres been like no resolution to most of that bc the inhumans just *left* and she just kinda got back with bb after maybe one or two conversations?? it makes complete sense to me that she (and karnak too but mostly medusa) would still be upset about it and i honestly dont know why she *wouldnt* be.

now this had me pause for a moment. the plan is to expose kamala, a resurrected *mutant*.... to terrigen? also as im typing this i just realized kamala has a cheeseburger (something she commented on wanting at the very end of last issue. red dagger probably went to get it w lockjaw and im very happy she got to eat her burger) BUT ANYWAYS. i thought we made a big deal about how terrigen is deadly to mutants?? wasn't that a thing??? pretty sure that was a thing.

aaaand this confuses me even more again. terrigen just... stops her from getting her mutant powers, and maybe only temporarily? although this does seem to kind of fit in with what was going on with luna (who isnt even half mutant anymore last i checked), luna rules are very different from 2014-2018 rules. which are the rules that applied when kamala got inhuman powers in the first place. why does terrigen not hurt her if she's a mutant? is this explained in a comic i havent read yet? if it is ignore how confused i am ill figure it out eventually.

if this hasn't been explained i am very curious about why she specifically would be fine with terrigen exposure. also why are karnak and medusa seemingly not concerned at all about how exposing her to terrigen might kill her? even if there has been an explanation, how would they know that? this seems like a giant "lets just see what happens and hope for the best" situation!! which,,, i guess actually isnt ooc for either of them at all, but still, this is like very dangerous science experiment-y even for them 😳

and disregarding all the kamala being immune to terrigen stuff.... how do the inhumans even *have* terrigen? all of it was put in a bomb, which was blown up, and then all of it was in a cloud, which was destroyed. of course, maximus learned how to make more, but all the terrigen he made was destroyed like five minutes after he made it. and considering he then immediately went to space and then finally returned only to live on the moon again (and the ingredients he requires for terrigen are on earth), im pretty sure he also needs triton's help to gather some of those ingredients, and idk if they would just let maximus and triton run off together again. i dont remember if doti gives any clear timeline references (and considering it basically completely ignores uncanny, royals, and the bb series, im gonna guess it doesn't) but even IF maximus somehow had time to go back to earth and make more terrigen, it all would have been destroyed again when vox attacked. and then maximus died. so there should be NO terrigen and NOBODY who knows how to make it.

now granted, considering this was about 6 years ago and the inhumans have pretty common continuity issues this is probably just a "we need this to fix the Problem" and its,,, whatever. im sure they can fit some explanation in there somewhere. unless we're retconning everything past inhumanity and before doti? which i reallyyy am not too keen on the idea of. i know ivx was a really unpopular story but ignoring it means retconning a LOT of stuff, and sets up a ton of new problems about the terrigen cloud, and im pretty sure the current xmen stuff still acknowledges that as canon.

i dont have any more space for images and this is about the last that we get of them, too. fairly minor, but still doing stuff!! and they get to have dialog!! pretty pleased overall with this (even if i wonder what exactly is happening continuity-wise) and hoping we get some more appearances later this year !!!! once again lockjaw. lockjaw was the best part of this issue for me. put lockjaw in every comic ever 2k24.
