Why does Ren have 4 ears? Are they all real or is one set fake?

Hehe I’ve gotten this question a lot actually! They’re all real— I like to think hybridization isn’t always a clean balance of traits, so Ren just unfortunately ended up with two sets of ears— his Dog ears being much more receptive to sound, naturally— and sometimes when the extra intake of sound is too overwhelming, I imagine he wears earplugs in his human ears to help adjust :> it’s a bit weird, but idk! i like to make designs funky and nonconventional! I liked the idea that Ren had hearing struggles due to wonky hybridization and just kept the concept :>

My first ever digital art!!! (Guys, it had to be Robstar)

This took me 3 weeks to complete 😭

I struggled a ton because of the lack of light pen thus leading me to just use my own fingers for the whole thing 💀 (I initially wanted to draw a pretty background depicting a ball room too but gave up on it and just went on with a generic galaxy bg but also made a ball room version using this image )

I experimented a lil with the shading and uh let's say digital shading is a lot different than traditional art lol I struggled with some aspects like hands because it's a lot hardee to manuever in digital art (and I already suck ass in drawing them in traditional art 🫠) just like shading and again, I'm very new to this haha (there are just so many tools and options like it's kinda overwhelming)

The dress worn by Starfire is inspired from the one she wore in that one TTG episode where she became the Tamaranean Queen and Robin's one is a combination from the one he wore in one episode of BTAS and "Date with Destiny" from TT03. I went with TTG artstyle because of simplicity reasons-

Sorry if this is too unrelated or something, but do you have any tips for comic composition? I absolutely adore how you frame everything, from the backgrounds, to the bubble placement, to the way the colors seem to fit together in each panel, and I've always been curious about how you do it

Hm... well. Honestly, most of my composition comes from transcribing the animation of residuum that's happening in my head. Which is why, if any of y'all've noticed, residuum is framed a bit like a movie. So if you're looking to do something similar, I'd recommend either studying camera techniques, or watching movie analysis with a focus on camera work. I'm unfortunately a bad person to ask, as a lot of what I do just comes via practice that's turned to instinct.

This is a really good resource on page compositions in general, though I mostly do panel by panel stuff for my own ease:

The background style is actually directly inspired from @meandtheyeehaws, it's fast, easy, and doesn't require too much thought on my part. You spend a lot of time on comics, so you take shortcuts where you're willing to.

Bubble placement... I've noticed that people tend to laser focus on dialogue. So, the dialogue bubbles are how you lead the reader's eyes. They are the very base of the reader's eye path. All this means is that you should just map the eye path you want and then frame everything else around that. Either to bring notice to stuff or to hide something in plain sight.

Honestly, I have no idea for the color thing. It's one of the things I actually wish the comic was better with. All I do is have set color swatches for characters, and do a transparent color mask to the background color. I love to color, but color itself isn't really my strong suit.

I got tired of going back and forth between like... 5 different things I've done when drawing him so he got the OC treatment like Karl before him and now has his own quick reference sheet before I lose my goddamn mind. It was mostly for the scarring and armor colors, but I decided to add a few small things here and there just to save myself some look-up time.

Uhhh yeah! I guess here's some notes about him lmao

- Was remade by Cerberus in a similar way to Shepard, but moreso as a 'prototype' to see if it could be done so fully instead of wanting perfection. It was held over his head quite a bit, both because of Cerberus being Cerberus and also because of his history with Illusive Man, who he developed a healthy fear of in the first few months he was 'awake' before it switched to hatred of the most BURNING passion.

- The prosthetic was absolutely a Cerberus implanted mechanism that connects to the nervous system and behaves like a normal arm, so much so that he can't even tell the difference sometimes unless he's looking at it directly- the only drawback is that Cerberus was a fuck and implemented a bug in the system that prevented him from using too much of his biotic powers, which they found out the hard way after a burst of them caused it to essentially short circuit and knock him out for a short while. Cam was not pleased and about 5 people had to hold them back from shooting Illusive Man through the hologram. (They ordered that the 'bug' be removed, which is was, but he was still hesitant on using biotics for a bit after that- understandably so)

- VERY much a cracked biotics user. Even with the prosthetic incident, once he knew he was able to, it was a primary focus instead of guns. //mostly to prevent Garrus from bitching about his sniper skills lmao//

- Lost ALOT of his confident charisma he was shown to have in ME1, and doesn't fully get it back. It was a struggle for him to even speak once he was brought on the Normandy. If anything, people avoid him now for obvious reasons instead of following his word, and the only reason he's spoken to in general most times is because of Cam.

- Just a little more actually feral now- i.e. using alot of sounds instead of speaking, as well as more primal power behind his movements once he's able to do so freely. Its suspected that its because of the whole 'recreation' thing kinda clicking his brain back into that predatory nature like a wild animal, but the only thing it seems to 'affect' is interactions with others, which there is minimal of in the first place. He fights just fine, and if anything those heightened senses make him even more of a menace on the battlefield than he used to be. But, even so, the only person he seems to communicate in his full chirp-trill-purring glory with is Cam- even if he's hissed at people a few times.

- The scarring along his carapace/plating is extremely sensitive, moreso than the scarring along his actual skin. Despite genuine best combined efforts, the most Chakwas and Mordin could do was lessen the sensitivity and ghost pains. Whatever Cerberus did when 'rebuilding' him, they made it so the scars couldn't fully heal over like Shepards could.

- He is rather small for a turian despite being 6'9", and his armor absolutely gives him more size to distract from it. The only one close to being as thin as he is is Garrus, but even then he's smaller both in size and height with Garrus being 7' (except for his thighs- he does beat out Garrus in thigh size). And, more notable design-wise, a smaller carapace and less defined keel and hip spurs. He also has more padding in his armor on his left side to make up for the missing plating.

- Yes, the tongue split is natural, because I cannot and will not be stopped.

- Cam is the one who scratched out the Cerberus logo on his arm and painted N7! It was after the prosthetic biotics incident, and it was pretty obvious that the sight of the logo on his own body upset him greatly. So they grabbed tools, sanded it down, and even painted the N7 logo on there to try and cover up the scratching. They offered to get the paint done professionally because it wasn't the best, but he declined because the gesture alone made it more important than simply going to a general application expert who didn't know the meaning.

- Do not let his 'pathetic wet cat of an old man' appearance fool you, he can and will still tear you to shreds, and very much still remembers how to... 'interrogate' people.

And I think that's it for now...! I'll add more if I think about it.

Thinking of how "left me like a book on a shelf" is from River's POV and therefore does not mean it is the entirety of the story much like how "the Doctor does not and has never loved me" was uttered from a River who was grieving.

Like the Doctor could have spent a long time putting the TARDIS in stationary orbit around the Library. The Doctor could have puttered about with the Library from years before it was shut down to ensure that everything would go smoothly while doing his best not to change a single thing. And on days when it is too hard, he just stares at the Library from his perch on the TARDIS door. Waiting, hoping, thinking. Trying to find a way out for her. For them.

And he does!

He finds a hundred ways to get her out of the data core. But...something always goes wrong. It's somehow never good enough. She's back, but she's not entirely there.

So he scratches it out, slaps himself, and tries again.

And again.

And again.

But his plans always fail.

But they don't. Not really. His plans could work. Could have worked. His beloved Sexy would help him. She'd always help him when it comes to her Water. But he was too scared. Too frightened of failure. Because one single mistake. One. Single. Mistake. And she's gone. He can never get her back. Forever.

So he runs. And runs. And runs. Until centuries has gone by and companion come and gone. Until he met a younger, more alive version of her. And then they had Darillium. And oh the joys of wonderful joys, what a night that was.

But things end. Even for him. They had to part ways again. Had to say goodbye. So he tries again. Picks up what his previous self had shelved. He tries. Oh how he tries.

But still. That fear exists. Is it worth it? Can he finally accomplish what he'd started a literal lifetime ago?

(He doesn't.)

Off on another lifetime with a new body. He's a...she now? Oh and shorter! Wow. That's new! I wonder what Ri–

On the rare moments she allows herself to succumb to sleep she goes to their his her study. She takes a moment to take everything in. It's unrecognizable now – the study that once was theirs filled with warmth and laughter and-

Every single space was taken. Covered by plans of plans of plans spanning...two...lifetimes now. Sexy still kept it just as it was the last time he she had been in there.

Their His Her favorite throw was still where it was – on their his her favorite corner of their his her favorite couch.

Nothing had changed but everything had changed.

She curled up and buried her face hoping it would still smell of her (It did. They never knew how it worked but somehow her smell still lingered anyway. They thought they were hallucinating at first but other people had been able to smell it too. Sometimes they forget but Sexy also lost her too).

She was a he again. The same face they had four lifetimes ago. The same face who was the first to keep the memory of their meeting.

But wh- what? Why? How? Is this it? Is this the body that finally brings her back home? A fitting act really. He put her in there and so he'll also put her out of there.

But... she wasn't there. Nothing was there. Nothing but chunks of debris and ashes and smelted...somethings.

When he blinked his eyes open (when had he closed them?), Donna's worried face greeted him. He blinked again and blinked. Nothing changed. Everything has changed. He had waited for far too long. He had made her wait for far. too. long. He feared of failing her but now he actually has failed her.

Everything was bland now. Was it just him or is everything a bit...on the side of grey? Donna looks at him like he might break. (He won't. He's a Time Lord. Time Lords don't break.) Even Sylvia had taken to treating him a bit more kindly.

He goes off alone with Sexy. His return to the Noble-Temple (Temple-Noble) household becomes fewer and further in between. One day he finds himself in Venice. Wonderful Venice. His Pond and her Roman (who wasn't yet a Roman) had gone here. There were vampires. And running and –

River?

No silly. River wasn't there.

He blinked. And blinked again. Made sure the sky was blue and the clouds still fluffy white. But was that his leather jacket that just whizzed by past him? Wait. Hold on. That was... Was that? Oh no. It wasn't. It couldn't be. Did they? No. They couldn't have.

But of course, apparently they did. Because that was actually his leather jacket wearing self that just passed by him again(?) tugging along his very-much-not-dead wife along running from... Hold on. Why are they running? What- Who's shooting at her?!

Some people keep getting mad that others do crackships, or focus on less popular characters and they really don't understand that if they weren't such sad, pathetic little haters, but instead created a welcoming fandom culture, people would also love to make more content for the characters and ships THEY like.

Tamlin week has been extremely successful, creative and fun - and he's a generally hated side character! The weeks of popular characters like Rhysand or Lucien don't even compare with numbers of submissions - maybe ask yourself why.

It's at least partly because in the Tamlin corner, you can do creative stuff for whatever and people hype it up. Tamlin/Feyre? Cool! Tamlin/Amarantha? Hell yeah! Tamlin/Rhysand? Fucking go!

Do the same with some popular character however and some asshole will want to send you hate messages for shipping the wrong characters or whatever. No wonder this fandom has to commission half its art.
