The fandoms I write for that are published are Rurouni Kenshin, Final Fantasy VII, and TMNT '03, '07, and ROTTMNT. Unpublished I also have One Piece, Tiger & Bunny, SPN, FFXIV, annnd The Untamed, most of these just being snippets etc etc. (And then RP is another bag entirely, writing in a different format-- you can include Blade of the Immortal that way.)

Yup. Unless someone is leaving a whole stream of one word OMG/!!!!/EEEK in which I'll probably just answer the last one they left. I did go through a very long period where I did not because I was too tired, but I started again around the 2020 mark when I actually started reading fanfiction again. And started engaging, etc etc.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I write angsty endings? :|a 404 File Not Found. I think the closest I got was the tiny ficlet I wrote for Ruroken which was just Kenshin being depressed in the rain after Tomoe's death, and I'm not sure that really counts. That was like three paragraphs of "well my life sucks" lmao. It never made it to AO3. (It's on ff dot net still, though.)

...OH. But I can tell you which one's going to have the angstiest ending and that's The Legacy. Which given the last chapter I had finished with Raph holding onto his dead not!girlfriend, I would assume most readers are not gonna be surprised by this fact. (File Soon* To Be Found.)

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Idk man I tend to angle for happy endings in general, so that is very hard to answer as it comes under YMMV - people have different views of happy endings, after all. Probably Underdark as the most distinct "Yes, everything is okay now" ending.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Nah, not really. I did have one serial reviewer that reviewed every chapter of Tanabata Jasmine back in the day with a lot of backhanded compliments and condescending comments? And one person who started off reviewing Misconduct with "well my friend told me to read this" and two chapters later said "okay I'm bored now bye", but none of this is hate. The only actual "hate" I got given was not actually ...for me? I don't think? It was someone who literally said: Why did you delete your slave fics? BITCH!! And I'm like... I have not now nor will i ever write... one of those...? So yeah. Think they mistook me for another author or something. Maybe Kikide. EH. Not my division.

9. Do you write smut?

Nah.

10. Craziest crossover?

Zaibatsu Project is a Rurouni Kenshin/Cyberpunk 2020 crossover, so that's taking all your 19th century samurai types and ditching them wholesale into 2029 Tokyo. It's fun. Maybe one day I will even write more of it.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Outright? I don't think so. Buuut I've certainly had people ping me in the past to tell me someone's lifted a chunk of it wholesale or "they've written Snowblind, only with smut!" or there was one person who wrote a BNHA fic which followed the same plot of Underdark complete with dialogue borrowed directly from the fic. That last one I contacted the author and they apologised and offered to take the fic down and I told them they could keep it up provided they credit me for the inspiration somewhere. I'm sure by now some AI has scraped my stuff, but largely I write in fandoms that don't get lifted and sold like others do. And honestly, the above examples are more kinda flattering than anything else.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yes! I believe most of my longer works have been translated into Russian, at the very least. I found Tanabata Jasmine back in the day being re-released onto a Russian forum site and I had a lot of fun translating the site to read responses (and laugh a bit at the machine translations because they kept telling me the readers were legless). Underdark has for sure. I've also found Snowblind.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

I wrote a few pages of one with @shadowbends at one point! But we didn't get far in and we both got distracted with other projects. And I also wrote half a fic to set up the other half for an author, but she didn't end up going ahead. Alas. So.... kind of?

14. All time favourite ship?

I'm honestly not much of a shipper. I mean-- actually, I ship a lot of different pairings, but only kind of superficially for the most part? Like I really enjoy reading ships but I still vastly prefer gen. I will very rarely read an outright romance fic, there's gotta be a plot. (Or at the very least some interesting smut, god.) It's easier for me to point out ships that make me go UGH GOD NO rather than a preference. (In RP I'll ship a little more if the dynamics between our characters work out really well, but I still won't be crushed if nothing comes from it. This is a hard question for me to answer. I definitely don't have an all time favourite in this lukewarm pile of ships, that's for sure.)

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Any of the WIPs that I have that I never bothered publishing have been abandoned. Anything I want to finish will get finished. It will just take some time. This is assuming I have a long life; I mean, if I'm scheduled to die, say, three years from now, the only thing that might get finished is Infinite Ricochet, lmao.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Action scenes! /o/ Pacing and tension. The most common review I get is from people vibrating from delighted stress, lmao.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Connective tissue. I can get really bogged down in getting from A to B. You can really see it in the early days of a fic where I'm still writing set up and wondering how to scale up realistically to the things I really want to write. Once everything starts going wrong, it gets much easier, rofl.

18. Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

Depends on context. Like many I started writing fanfic at the time people tried to pepper as much Japanese into their dialogue as possible for realism or brownie points or whathaveyou - you can see that in my first fic on ff dot net lmaooo. Don't do this. Not unless you have a foreign phrase that just loses its flavour when translated through to English. Or, alternatively, when you actually have a non-English character who keeps dropping into their own language, or some try hard teenager who keeps trying to show off how much Spanish they know, as an example. There are always reasons to do so and reasons it will work. But if you're just going "LOOK AT THE WORDS I KNOW"... I recommend not doing so, you will look back years later and go "oh god".

19. First fandom you wrote in?

....look, technically the first fandom I wrote in was Inspector Gadget self insert fic. But I was nine so I feel I should not be judged. /cough

First time I sat down to write an actual story that was based off a show was for the old Defenders of the Earth cartoon while I was ...15? And then when I moved out my one sofa chair was surrounded by notepads as I wrote out my first 1987 TMNT fanfic. I didn't know it was called fanfic back then. In fact I didn't know anyone else did it at all and I was just weird. Please understand that when I got onto the web proper in the late 90s and found fanfic sites I was over the moon.

20. Favourite fic you've written?

It's gotta be Underdark. That thing is its own island by now. It's closely followed by the more recent There Is No Gravy, which much like Underdark wrote itself and also ended up far longer than I intended. It was just fun. It was a soft warm hug for the Rise fandom, okay, I love it.

So I read the first chapter of your Cedric x Reader fanfic and came to share my thoughts.

I will say, I'm not too fond of x Reader, I'm more about reading about characters instead of being one. That being said, I liked that there was an effort to include other characters from stf, and I actually got invested from how the fic was formatted as a genuine stf episode.

I don't want to be too critical of the portrayal of some of the characters, but as a Roland enjoyer, I felt your portrayal of him was quite decent until it came to Cedric. I'm not sure at what point the story is supposed to take place in besides being between Great Auntventure and Day of the Sorcerers, but I feel that Roland being unhappy about Cedric coming along doesn't feel in character. At most points in the show, Roland is shown to not mind Cedric, let alone with Sofia. Cedric's Apprentice was an episode where Sofia literally became Cedric's apprentice so he could help her for a test, and Roland never once objects to her being with Cedric. I think Roland doesn't have as big of a gripe as people think because he's more disappointed at Cedric not being able to do magic than him as a person overall.

That being said, I love how you wrote him as someone who respected Sofia's wishes and let her bring Cedric along to the carnival. That is very much like Roland to see that Sofia likes something and sets aside his biases for his daughter. I can understand headcanoning Roland not liking Cedric as a person, and It's not something I'd agree with, but I absolutely agree with him respecting his children and their wishes.

As for the royal family as a whole, I didn't expect them to take as much of a focus as they did, and it was a pleasant surprise to have the children interact with Y/N. In fact, the format of the fic was so creative, with the royal family being so involved, I found myself being invested more in that than the x Reader parts. That's just me liking things not involving Cedric more because of how focused he is in the fandom. I wanted to talk more about the other aspects of the fic because I think people would find these elements such a treat.

While the royal family isn't THE main focus, I found Amber and Miranda to be a bit weird as characters. The fact I preferred the writing for James over them says something. With Miranda, I felt she wasn't a character like everyone else. The only role she seemed to have was as a mother and nothing else. The way she didn't have as much of a prominence as the others bummed me out. And it's not that she had to have a bigger role, but I felt myself questioning where she was.

My thoughts about Amber are based on my opinion, but the way she was written felt mixed to me. There were parts where she felt like Amber, like her excitement at getting her fortune told, but her being interested in whether she has a spouse?? I don't know, I personally don't think she would be too interested in that, or at least would be more interested in other aspects of her future. Plus the "I AM EASY" part caught me off guard. That part with the part before of Amber eating fast but elegantly did not pair well. It felt like Hildegard core.

These are just my thoughts though. I really enjoyed reading this fanfic despite some parts I didn't jive with. I would recommend it for anyone who likes a storyline with their smoochies with Cedric rjdbhdidjdjdjrj

First of all I always try to make my one shots feel like they could more or less happen in the StF canon, so I’m glad it works!!

Regarding Roland, I know that you love him but I don’t necessarily like him that much. I think he’s okay most of the time, I just hate him for fun lmao (that’s probably why I wrote him as less likable than he actually is)

About the characters overall, this was my first piece of StF fan fiction and when I was writing this I hadn’t finished the show yet (I was maybe at the beginning of season 2) so the characters hadn’t gone through all the development they had to go through yet, and I guess I didn’t have that good of a grasp on their personalities. Now that you point it out, looking back Amber was never boy crazy so I agree that that bit doesn’t make any sense (😭), and yeah I guess Miranda ended up being just… mom.

To close out 2023…

1) What fic did you have the most fun writing this year and why? Or, if you can’t decide, what was most fun about writing this year for you?

the most fun i had was while writing honeycomb, because julissa @heymrspatel and i got to play with our horny psychic link again and it was the BEST.

2) What’s a scene/story that you finished and felt “wow, I really accomplished that, that actually went so well”?

let them see. writing ian and mickey fucking with an audience and making it believable was HARD. i'm still not sure how well i accomplished that, but i'm proud of it.

3) What helped provide the most inspiration for stories, if anything? Was it poetry? A song on repeat? A gorgeous gifset? A walk outside? A book you read that made you want to change everything? Whatever it was! Tell all.

i listened to infinite granite by deafheaven on repeat. i just think it's beautiful, and it's good music for zoning out and imagining. lyrics from that album sometimes serve as working titles for my fics before they get real titles, and in fact i did name a fic after lyrics from that album. waiting in the light

4) What is something you want to share about what you’ve written this year? A particular line, a comment that made you feel really good, a scene that was difficult to write — you get to choose! What do you wish someone would ask you about when it comes to what you’ve written?

i just wanna talk about feels like a dream. setting the atmosphere for that was so fun. i wrote it so quickly, i could see it all so clearly in my head. i wanna talk about ian sucking on mickey's tongue. i wanna talk about the moment ian puts the collar on mickey and how he gets him to tell him why he wants it. i wanna talk about how ian talks to him and takes care of him and makes him feel owned. i wanna talk about how mickey sucks ian's dick like he needs it to live. i wanna talk about how important the atmosphere is in that moment, how even they felt like they didn't want to move too quickly and disturb what they had built up that night. i wanna talk about how mickey's so sleepy while ian's fucking him that he wonders if his orgasm is going to jerk him awake or make him even more sleepy and blissed out. oh god, and mickey calling ian daddy throughout. i just think it's sexy. i wrote it in september but i posted it at the very end of kinktober when people were likely just burnt out on it, but it's there and it's dreamy and it's kinky and i like it.

And to start off 2024…

1) Do you have any writing/creation goals for the year? What are they?

yes! i just want to post more fics. i still want to participate in kinktober and i want to format it differently this year. i want to write a multichapter au as well.

2) Is there a fic or idea that you’re really excited to be able to continue to work on in the new year (shout out to my fellow fic writing folks who take forever to finish wips, sometimes it’s nice to be able to continue working on something even if you wish you’d gotten it done! Now you get even MORE time with it!)

yeah, that multichapter au idea! i had written quite a bit for it and i HATED the direction it was going in and it made me want to scrap the whole thing. i had a helpful conversation about it with bee a few weeks ago and i've got new ideas for it, so really i want to tackle that. it just feels daunting because i've written thousands of words that i feel like i need to get rid of. i basically need to start over to make it work. but it'll happen!

3) What’s something new in your writing you want to try/are going to try? A different writing style? Different fandom? Darker works? Fluffier? Longer or shorter?

baby's first au! also i think i mentioned this before but i wanna try writing destiel smut. like deeply emotional, feral, inhuman, otherworldly reunion fucking. we'll see if i ever get to it though.

4) What’s something you love about your own writing that you will continue to appreciate in the new year?

i think i'm good at writing physical sensation. i find smut really fun and i think i'm pretty good at it. not just because i'm good at describing physical sensation, but for all kinds of reasons. i think i'm reasonably good at keeping ian and mickey in character while they're doing all kinds of things, and i like that. i think i'm good at setting a tone and atmosphere. i don't know man i just like it to be a sensory experience, and i think it often is.

To the McDonald's Dave AGAIN who is literally so bothered that I don't like them that they made a multi paragraph post, I have actual prompts for whatever scene I'm playing in whatever given moment. When I say actual prompts I mean action prompts that set up the scene and not just a chunk of dialogue that I expect other people to riff off of. Not to mention the one singular time I tried replying to you in good faith because I was in a silly goofy mood, you sent a passive aggressive message and dc'd before I could even send it to you. Be for real.

I feel like you've misunderstood what I'm saying on purpose. It's fine if you don't like my prompt. I've specifically noted that what particularly annoys me is you misclassifying it as a one-liner. If you don't like the style, fine. If you don't like the dialogue, fine. I also don't really give a damn as to whether you like me or not. But it's not a one-liner nor a starter-free tag, and yeah, calling it that does bother me. Thanks for asking. Yes, I am a pedant. I've already established that one.

Okay, and good for you. So my prompt doesn't suit your highly specific definition, great. You don't have to like it. Your definition of an "actual prompt", however biased, still does not make my tag an empty one-liner. It also does, in fact, set the scene, even if it doesn't do it extensively enough for you (see: dialogue opener set in burning McDonalds, "just set fire to the McDonald's we're in!" tag). There's also a very, very obvious action in the tag itself.

So, like, no matter how you hash this one out, you started out straight up wrong. That's just facts, hombre. If you want exposition, then use the word "exposition".

But let's talk about "actual prompts", I guess, since you seem really focused on excluding dialogue starters. Which, again, I feel like you should expect if you have script/both on when you search, and I don't send dialogue starters if I happen to match with someone on para-only. But whatever, we can roll with your premise for a sec.

Setting up the scene (with exposition, presumably, seeing as if you counted dialogue/tag scene-setting, I think the scene with that tag was blatantly obvious) is, frankly, lower on my list of priorities here than gauging whether or not I want to rp with you. This is script, y'know. While I've been party to RPs on db/mx that have more narration than dialogue, at the end of the day, the majority of it tends to be dialogue, and so first and foremost, I want to know whether or not I find your character portrayal fun, IC, or entertaining to write against. I don't see the point of keeping the chat otherwise.

I'm sorry I'm not sending my 900 word cherp prompts on db, ok? But aside from the fact that I just don't have the time to rp those right now, I guarantee that I'd be getting a lot more DCs because this isn't the target audience, not to mention that I find the DB/parp format horrible for litrp to begin with. I have a couple of shorter prompts that do set the setting with proper descriptions and all that rot, sure, but I don't feel like playing them, and I don't really see why I have to just because you think my dialogue prompt blows or whatever.

Our personal preferences evidently do not match up. Again, since apparently I keep having to say it, this still does not make my tag an empty one-liner. I'm not trying to make you like my prompt. I'm trying to say, "for God's sakes, dude, it isn't a one-liner, and whether you consider it an 'actual prompt' or not according to your own arbitrary standards, the fact remains that the starter exists." (And it also does what I need it to do, so believe it or not, it fulfills my use criteria for DB/mx).

If you hate it, call it quits. Hell, you can hate on it for what it is, but calling it a one-liner is simply so woefully inaccurate that it bothers me. On the other hand, if you're free to hate on it, I'm also free to express incredulity at the fact that it bothered you so much when I ran it for all of one day.

I don't know how you expected me to know that you tried responding to me and didn't do it before I DC'd. I find that ridiculous. To state the obvious, DB does not have a "typing" indicator. I have zero idea if you are typing. I generally DC at about the 1.5-3 minute mark on such short prompts if there's no response at all, because really, my prompt doesn't take that much time to respond to, and I don't want to sit for 30 minutes waiting just to find out that I don't vibe with your writing or even want to rp with your portrayal.

If you're mad about being DC'd on, well, tough luck, I guess? It happens. I've written with people that I'm pretty sure have DC'd on me multiple times in a row when untagged, 'cause they didn't like whatever direction my previous openers were going in. It went fine. This is an 18+ site, grow up.

Did I send something like "well I guess we aren't burning down a McDonalds"? Because that's about all I can remember sending once or twice on DC, and it's just an acknowledgement of your assumed lack of interest in responding to my prompt, because I'm actually aware that not everyone will like it; I really didn't consider it passive-aggressive. My bad, sorry. Regarding the assumption part, again, see: "lack of a typing indicator".

Side note: when I respond to someone's relatively long starter, I also actually let them know that I'm doing so, because, again, the site does not have typing notifiers. This still doesn't actually apply to the starter for that tag, because it's really not that complicated, but it's just a note.

And y'know what? I would DC on my quickstart in a heartbeat if I was on Cherp, looking for long litrp, because my litrp used to get hella long, and this type of shit would be a complete mismatch in terms of effort. But as it happens, at present, I'm not on Cherp, and I'm sending that prompt only to people searching for script/both, so those conditions aren't actually applicable.

(And all of that being said...I've sent even shorter, 1 or 3-line dialogue openers on mx/db before, and have done longer actual scene setting down the line. Others have also done that to me. And it works, because sometimes, it's ok to not setting dump at the very beginning.)

henlo i am sorry to bother you but i am ten years late to the danganronpa fandom and two years late to your fanfics but i was wondering if you might consider finishing your Bear Trap story? like even if its just a quick lil synopsis of what you wanted to write, or if its an unfinished chapter, id take anything 👉👈

Ok this was worded very kindly so I'm going to justify it with a full geniune response.

I'm honestly probably never going to update Bear Trap, but I WILL give you a synopsis. I did however want to first quickly explain why I don't plan on finishing that fic.

To keep a long story short. I kinda hate BT. It was my first fic after a two year break and imo it shows in the quality. I thank BT for temporarily getting me back into the writing groove, but I cringe way too hard looking back on it. I do have an unfinished chapter draft, but I'm not sure if I'd ever post it. I'll have to reread it at some point and see how I feel.

I would also like to say that if anyone else is willing to write the last part, I am more than willing to work with them.

Now, here is what I had planned for BT, bare (haha bear) in mind that it's messy because it was just self indulgent nonsense:

The format of BT was meant to go; build up, impact, aftermath. With each chapter focusing on a different story beat.

There was going to be a fake chapter released only on tumblr where Naegi died, only for the characters to go "did you actually think that would happen?" meant to poke fun over how many people thought I was going to kill Naegi.

This means the last chapter was going to entirely focus on the aftermath of Naegi's injury. I wanted each character to get an analysis of how they're feeling and each individual relationship would get a spotlight

This also means that. Tbh. The aftermath segment probably would not fit cleanly into one chapter since it would be pretty big.

It began with the hospital ride from the helicopter, Togami and Kiri watching as medics struggle to keep Naegi stable. There's a very dissociative vibe going on.

Because Togami and Kiri are closer to Naegi then they are each other, they don't really know how to comfort each other. It's awkward, quiet. They only speak to share facts and speculation. But there's a moment where they lean shoulder to shoulder.

Naegi was going to lose his leg, and have to get a prosthetic. Some of the fic was going to focus on him relearning how to walk with his new leg with the help of his partners.

I wanted to make sure that Naegi becoming disabled wasn't a "bad" ending. It's obviously upsetting to lose a limb in a tragic accident, and Naegi does have to cope with it. But I wanted to feel more empowering in a "see this shit? It's proof I survived"

Togami was ofc going to lovingly call him a cockroach

There was going to be exploration over how despite being known around the world for surviving a tragedy, they still don't really know how to LIVE with tragedy. They are just forced to keep moving on without getting a moment to breathe.

Due to Naegi seeing how freaked out Togami and Kiri were, he tries to keep everything together and stay lighthearted for their sake. He knows they want to see he's okay. This meant he pushed aside his own coping however.

The fic was going to end with Naegi finally letting out his emotions and crying in front of both of them, admitting that he was scared and thought he was going to die, and that he was so grateful they were there. Even if he had died then, he wouldve been more okay with it if they were with him. But that doesn't mean he was actually okay with it.

Togami negotiates them all a 2 week vacation lmao

If I remember correctly (I did not reread the fic to check, I'm going solely off memory) I was going to make a point about how despite feeling like they nearly lost their chance to tell Naegi they love him, both Tog and Kiri know that a confession shortly after a traumatic experience isn't the best idea. But also, Naegi doesn't need a confession to know they love him.

There were certainty more details to thefic that I can't fully recall ATM, such as the specifics of each individual character/relationship analysis. Let me know if you have any questions! Ty again for your kindness

Don't get me started on when I rped a character that was a popular fc among tumblr rps at the time because I'd find my icons on their blogs too and once I got so fed up that I just released all icons I used (shy of 900 total).

❀ What has made you completely lose your chill? Being gaslit when I tried to approach someone about something their friends were doing towards me. I don't expect you to be people's keepers but if your people are coming after me anonymously in your name, you can't just sit back and do nothing and tell me I'm overreacting like be serious.

✿ What do you think about public call out posts? They're good when they're necessary. They're dumb when the 'evidence' are the allegations themselves and not actual proof or just clear signs of stalking.

✂ A fandom that you feel isn't open and accepting? Idk. Most canons; they don't really care much for crossover interactions as much as they say they do, and they certainly don't care much for OCs.Some canon spaces don't even allow OCs.

✉ A fandom that you feel is open and accepting? OC 'fandom'(?) have my hearts. Other OC writers go above and beyond to help get some interactions going, and they're some of the strongest writers on the planet to keep going, despite how much this plaform has stacked against them.

✖ How has Tumblr RP changed since you started? In ways, it's gotten better. While it's not by a huge margin, the fact that people are generally more enthusiastic at having marginalized characters or characters with these traits added to certain canon characters in their spaces says a lot about where we are in society. I also love that we're more quick to call out weird people and whitewashing. Where I was in Tumblr RP back in 2012-16, you couldn't really imagine much of this since it was kept under horny wraps. People also won't put straight up korn with the p on your feed without their proper tags the way they did back then, so that's a major plus.

♒ Thoughts on the fandom you're currently rping in? If I'm being honest with you, it's just the people that know about Psycho-Pass. LOL.

Writing Indian characters, from an Indian person

India is a huge country! while most characters in mainstream media are from the 'big cities' i.e Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, etc, there are many, many more places and areas to look at! since India is such a vast country, there is incredible diversity. 19,500 languages and dialects are present, with people of different skin, eye, and hair colors and types! there are, of course, a lot of inherent prejudices present, which I'll address a little later.

#1. Know their roots

There is no 'one' Indian experience. People from different places celebrate different festivals, worship different gods, and speak different languages!

A checklist of things you should know about your Indian character's background, in essence:

Which state and city/town/village are they from?

How many and which languages do they speak, and with what frequency? (Mostly, people can speak at least two languages!)

Are they religious? (more on religion later)

What are some of their favourite memories/moments linked to their culture? (festivals, family gatherings, etc)

#2. Naming your character

Some common names for boys: Aarav, Advik, Shlok, Farhan, Ritvik, Aarush, Krish, Ojas, Zain.

Some common names for girls: Arushi, Ishita, Trisha, Rhea, Riya, Zoya, Vedika, Khushi, Charvi.

Common last names: Shah, Singh, Agarwal, Banerjee, Dala, Bhat, Joshi, Iyer, Jain, Dhawan, Dixit.

Be careful while picking a last name: last names are very much indicators of the ethnicity/community you're from! most older folks can guess the ethnicity of people just by their last name - it's pretty cool.

Naming systems usually follow the name-surname format, and children usually take the last name of their father - but I believe some regions have a bit of a different system, so look that up!

#3. Stereotypes to avoid

This goes without saying, but I'm gonna say it anyway. Being 'Indian' shouldn't be your character's entire personality. Give them traits, feelings, and a purpose other than being a token diverse character. Some stereotypes that are really a no-no when it comes to Indian characters:

Making them good at math and academics in general (my Cs in math beg to differ that all Indians are good at math. often, the reason Indians are stereotyped to be so smart stems from an incredibly toxic and harmful environment at home which forces children to get good grades. unless you've experienced that, its not your story to write)

Making your Indian character 'hate' being Indian (not everyone?? hates their culture?? like there are many, MANY faults with India as a country, and it's important to recognize and take action against that - which often makes us iffy about how we feel about our country, it's genuinely not your place to write about that UNLESS you are Indian. don't bring in 'hatred' of a place you've never visited, and don't know much about.)

Make them scaredy-cats, 'cowards', who are good at nothing but being the 'brain' (I will literally behead you if you do this/lh)

#4. Why India shouldn't be portrayed as 'perfect' either

It's likely that most of you won't be going in SO deep with your Indian character, but India isn't the perfect 'uNiTy iN diVerSitY' as it's depicted in media. There are incredible tensions between religions (especially Hindus and Muslims), and even remnants of the 'untouchable' way of thinking remain between castes. There's a lot of violence against women, and misogyny is definitely something Indians are not foreign to. People with paler skin are considered to be 'better' than those with darker skin (in the older generations especially)

#5. Some common customs

Removing your shoes before entering the house, since your house is considered to be 'godly' and shoes shouldn't be brought inside

Eating dal (lentils), chawal (rice), sabji (a mixture of vegetables/meat that's cooked in different ways) roti (Indian flatbread) is considered to be a full, well-balanced meal and at least aspects of it are eaten for lunch and dinner (if not all four elements)

The suffixes -bhai (for men) and -ben (for women) are added to first names and are commonly used by adults to refer to someone of importance or who they hold to esteem.

However, 'bhai' (which literally means 'brother) is often used as slang when referring to friends or family. Other slang includes 'arrey' which is used to show irritation or 'yaar' which has the same context.

It's custom to call adults who you refer to in a friendly way 'aunty' or 'uncle', like the parents of your friends.

Talking back to your elders is forbidden, especially your grandparents who you have to refer to with utmost respect.

#6. Religions

India is a very religiously diverse country. The most common religion is Hinduism, then Islam, Christianity, Sikhism, and Buddhism. All religions have their own complexities, and since I'm a Hindu, I can tell you a little bit about that!

It's common to have a mandir which is a small altar dedicated to the deities your family worships. (Fun fact - they're usually placed in the East direction because that's where the sun rises)

Most kids can say a few shloks by-heart, which are a few lines of prayer! (lmao I've forgotten most but I used to be able to rattle off at least ten when I was younger)

Most people know at least the general plot of the Ramayan and Mahabharat - two famous epic stories. (I'm not sure if they're inherently 'Hindu' or not)

Many people wear necklaces with a small pendant of the deity they worship!

Common Hindu deities: Saraswati, Ganesha, Shiva, Krishna, Vishnu.

It's important to note that religious violence is a thing. Muslims especially, are oppressed and discriminated against. It's a very, very complex issue, and one that's been going on for thousands of years.

#7. Myth & Facts

India is a very poor country

Yep! Lakhs of people live in villages with no electricity, clean water, or amenities nearby. There's no point sugar-coating it. There are HUGE gaps between the poor and the rich (have you heard of Ambani and Adani :D) and while our millionaires rejoice in their thirty-story mansions, people die of famine, disease, and hunger every day. I am personally lucky enough to be EXTREMELY privileged and attend an international school and live in one of the most developed cities. Most people aren't as lucky as me, and it's a really true, horrifying reality.

Everyone in India is vegetarian

No lmao - while many people ARE, there's a greater and equal amount of non-vegetarian people.

We burn our dead in parking lots

This circulated back when the second wave was going on in India, and the media blew it out of proportion. First of all, what the actual f!ck. Cremation is a Hindu ritual, and by saying that aLL Indians burn their dead you are erasing the other religions here. Secondly, cremation is a sacred ritual only attended by close family of the deceased member. It does not happed in PARKING LOTS. It's a time of grief and loss, not a way to humiliate a religion for the way they treat their dead.

Hey guys! This is my first official post as a GOT7 blog and I would like to say a huge thanks to the lovely anon who sent in a request. I had never originally considered opening my requests but I realised it's a good way to get me to write and stop being lazy. Before we get into the reactions, I really need to address something quickly: I will be avoiding writing member X female reader fics as much as possible. For those who don't know, I am trans and over the time that I have realised that fact and come out, I've become more and more uncomfortable reading and writing female reader fics.

His angry chin made quite the appearance when you were cuddling with Yugyeom while watching a movie together. Jinyoung noticed the death stare coming Yugyeom's way and nudged him to move away from you, making him whine. As soon as you were out of Yugyeom's reach, Jaebeom pulled you into his lap, wrapping his arms around your waist and snuggling his face in the crook of your neck, causing the other guys go snicker at the second oldest's obvious jealousy.

"I'm sorry baby but I just can't stand seeing someone else's hands on you. I promise I'll try to stop being so stuck up but you'll have to give me some time. It's not my fault that I have such a perfect partner who makes everyone fall for them"

Mark:

Mark had absolutely no issues with you hanging out with other members and friends because he trusted you enough to know that even if someone tried to make a move on you, you'd try your best to get out of the situation as soon as possible. But once when you both were out on a date, a waiter tried to flirt with you, ignoring Mark's presence. Mark pulled your hand and made you sit on the same side of the booth as him, wrapping his hand around your shoulder and giving you random kisses, making sure the waiter was watching the displays of affection. He made sure to give you a solid kiss on the lips when the waiter came to give the bill, making the stranger blush and leave quickly.

"I hate it when guys try to flirt with you especially when I'm around. I don't blame them for wanting to try, you're absolutely irresistible but you're mine"

Jackson:

Jackson always became extremely pouty when he was jealous. You had planned to go shopping with Mark and asked Jackson if he wanted to tag along and he agreed. Unfortunately for him, you and Mark were busy looking for new shoes together, alomst forgetting that he even came with you. You were about to ask Jackson for his opinion on a pair of sneakers you were planning to buy when you found him sitting alone in the corner of the store, staring at his phone and pouting. You held a finger against your lips, signaling Mark to be quiet before sneaking up on Jackson and giving him a tight hug from behind. You turned him around to face you and told him it was time to head home, making him smile.

"I didn't want to interrupt your shopping but you and Mark hyung were having so much fun together I felt a little bit left out. Next time you two can go together without me or the two of us can go"

Jinyoung:

When your group of friends had invited you to a trip to Jeju, Jinyoung wasn't the happiest. He didn't want you to not go because he did trust you but he just hated the idea of someone making a move on you. He made you promise to send him pictures of yourself every hour and told you to immediately call him if you ever felt uncomfortable. He called you up at random times in the middle of the trip just to check up on you. He felt bad for seeming like such a possessive boyfriend but you knew that he did what he did because he loved and cared about you. The day you returned, Jinyoung came to pick you up at the airport and gave you a huge bear hug and clung onto you the entire day because of how much he missed you.

"I never mean to sound so possessive but I'm just worried about you. I love you too much to let someone else take you away from me"

Youngjae:

Youngjae had always struggled with insecurities and seeing you spend all day in the studio with Jaebeom made them resurface. He always wondered how he was able to get such an amazing partner as you and it made his quite insecure and upset. You and Youngjae shared a love for music but somehow it never translated in the studio whereas you and Jaebeom clicked quite well together, musically. It always made him upset that he couldn't be the one to make music with you. Instead of getting vocally jealous or angry, Youngjae just closed up and became quiet. As soon as you noticed his behaviour you asked him what was wrong and reassured him that you loved him and that you had no interntions of ever leaving.

"I know how much you love music and I want you to make songs with hyung because they always turn out well but I'm afraid someday you'll find him to be better than me and leave me"

Bambam:

Deciding to surprise you at work, Bambam dropped by your office during your lunch one day to find you sitting at a table with another man who was continuously chattering away. You looked quite uncomfortable, like you wanted to leave or get out of the situation but couldn't. Bambam walked up to the two of you, wrapping his hands around your waist. The other man questioned who he was and you introduced him as your boyfriend, giving him the clear signal that you were taken. You later explained that you had told your co worker that you had a partner but he refused to believe it and continued to flirt with you. Bambam bought you an expensive and flashy ring the next day to wear at work and told you to wear it till he actually proposed to you.

"I already know that you're the one for me, love. Till I propose though, wear this and make sure they see that your mine and I'm yours"

Yugyeom:

Usually shy Yugyeom would get irritable and snappy when he's jealous. You were close to one of your ex's who you'd grown up with and broken up on good terms. He was getting engaged and invited you to help buy a wedding ring. You tried calling Yugyeom to let him know that you'd be going out with your ex but he was too busy to pick up your calls. Yugyeom later that day went to the mall to look for an anniversary gift for you and found you there with him. When you got back home, you saw Yugyeom curled up on the couch, refusing to talk to you. After a lot of persuading he told you why he was mad and you just laughed and explained he situation to him, showing him pictures is the ring and your ex with their significant other.

"I'm sorry for getting jealous, love. I don't doubt your love for me but seeing you with them just made me feel upset. I promise I'll trust you more in the future"

When a Phoenix does for good, lots of natural disasters happen, starts with Tony'parents dying and then Rhodey, who is also a Phoenix, finds Tony. Who is now familyless and dying as lone phoenixes tend to die. There are several different kinds, and they come in pairs general. Golden and Ice, for example, Golden are high in magic, Ice tends to protect, especially the rare Golden, it's more tribes than individuals, there is no requirement for who likes who. It's surprising how much making a few other Avengers phoenixes tweaks things here and there, this actually goes up to the fight in Siberia and is one of the bigger WIP's. (26k)

Flash of Gold - Avengers are shifters or humans with magic, and they think they know what Tony is. They believe he is a human with magic, but they notice that he has some shifter traits, which is odd as shifters can't have magic in this AU. Only in very old stories and myth. Tony, however, is a dragon, which are myth. Instead of being like most shifters a, a human that shifts to something, he is the reverse. It only has a few scenes. Full shebang, team as Family. Steve is even a good guy. James is brought to the tower after being found and slowly integrated into the group and is wondering wtf Tony is. (13k)

The Operative Program - Howard was never meant to be a father; he was a weaponsmith. So he took the red room and the wolf spider programs and decided to create himself an Operative that he hoped would be the darker side to help Steve when he found him. Two sides of the same coin, one for the light and one to work in the shadows, Tony would be under Steve's control, he would be a weapon for the man who only picked up a shield. (Also assassin Tony is just fun.) Tony in this is a mash-up really, Tony traits, like Gold but different as he has been trained his entire life, the only reason he has developed a sense of self is Rhodey and the fact his parents died at 17. Rhodey got there first after the car crash, getting to Tony before anyone else who knew what he was could potentially claim him. Tony definitely collects people. Yinsen and Vanko for example. Chapters from Ironman up to Avengers (not complete). But enjoyed myself rewriting some out of sequence chapters, so there is a nice big scene in Siberia. (15k)

Another Persons Wish - Now this was based on a post I saw going around. Person A is married to Person B. Person A is looking back at their life and wondering if they should have married B, etc. So, A is offered a wish. Poof. Goodbye Marriage. Person A is Steve, and the story is from Tony, person B's POV. It goes from Tony planning his anniversary(because I was apparently extremely angsty when I started this!) to waking up in the past, alone and wondering what the fuck has happened. 6 chapters entirely written. Chapter 7 is in a different file and in progress when I dabble on it. (30k)

Tarnished Gold - This is an AU from my AU AU XD. Basically similar set up to the Gold Universe, Tony escapes Hydra Captivity but is brought in by Rhodey instead of spending 2 years on his own cleaning up Hydra. He only spends about 7 months before Rhodey convinces him to come in. Few other tweaks here and there but that is just side. Rhodey and James are pals too. The plot here is Howard and Maria are brought back from the Dead and Rhodey is trying to work out how to tell them what has happened and that he can't just bring them to Tony, because he doesn't know if Tony will remember them yet. Tony is a little less 'give me orders, and I'll gut you, and more 'orders made things easier'. I basically flipped his and James reactions from the original Gold universe. Tony is more in need of a hug. It's very loosely put together. I wanted something where Howard was a good dad to offset the fact I kind of made him Hydra in the next piece, and I wanted a good family man Howard with the bringing the parents back because I love reading fics that bring Howard and Maria back. Sins of The Father - Arno has just buried his father. His mother is in a coma, he is 20 and mourning his life now he's expected to take on the business when a visitor flips his work upside down worse than the phone call about the crash. His Father? Part of a program that summoned a creature known as a Void Walker. (A creature from the Void Loki fell into, the only native species to that area, most others can't survive the void, so Loki will read as Void Touched and is 'To Be Protected' because I think that could shake up the Avengers section nicely.) Oh and he has Howards DNA. So Arno is freaked that he has a brother, that someone released and sent to him and Arno is 100% sure he is not meant to deal with severe traumatised half-human assassins that could be his kid brother. That is how Arno meets Tony and becomes very invested and turns up big brother protective instinct to 13. When summoned they're tired to a person and has to obey orders, that person was chosen as The Asset under the idea he can't disobey, which obviously fails as Winter does everything to protect Tony, including freeing him and sending him to Arno. His last order is that Tony is not allowed to go looking for or rescue Winter, which I think will be some nice drama when Bucky gets brought in (I really like this one) It has mostly set up but 2 scenes for in the future, Tony finding Coulson threatening Arno in IM2 and the data dump. Blood and an Arc - This came about from reading the Tony is a vampire fic and noticing that when he gets turned, generally Tony hates being a vampire. There aren't many where he comes back from Afghanistan a vampire and goes, huh... Well. This could be interesting. Loosely based on Vamp the Masquerade but I've tweaked it because my brain takes ideas and then runs off madly into the sunset. It is however utterly all over the place, some from Ironman and then random out of sequence chapters that I'm unsure about as I hadn't slept in a very long time on writing them and Tony went kind of Spike-ish calling James 'Pet'. I do like the idea of Tony fully embracing his changes. Yinsen never intended Tony to live, so he did something extra whilst turning him, so he is not an ordinary baby vampire and is convinced (justifiably so) that if he meets any other vamps, they'll try to kill him. In notes have Sam considering being a werewolf who works out Tony is a vamp and freaks out, because Vampires vs Werewolves and Tony is utterly confused and tells Sam he smells of mint (seriously, insomnia) Sam is baffled to find out the centuries of hatred that is claimed to be instinctual is actually taught. Sam gets kind happy he has a Vamp friend. (20k)

The Original Plan - This sets up around the end of the Mandarin (because honestly, I prefer working with Tony that has powered, especially because James has the serum and I personally think it would expand life span more than shown in Endgame. So I like evening things out and powered Tony is my jam) Tony has a bunch of plans, and they go awry. He doesn't see why and has zero clue what's going on. It's because no matter how well he plans this out, he's caught up in other people's plans. Steve is a little more "End goal justify the anything and everything." In other words, getting Bucky back is his plan and everyone are just pawns in said plan. I've taken that tactical genius title and also pushed him a little darker. After Ultron, he brings Wanda on for 3 reasons. 1 Precedence. 2 Fixing Bucky. 3 Making sure Tony doesn't find out about his parents and making sure he is on the team and available to fix Bucky's arm. That last bit changes things as instead of pulling away from the Avengers, Tony fully moves into the compound(just after AOU, it's not good). There will be no accords and Steve will find Bucky and just move him in and general plans on telling no one about the Winter Soldier. I summed up a chunk of AOU in this format, and I liked it (in an angst and pain fashion.) But it's quite long for a screenshot, so here's a chunk. Bucky is being brought in soon, but as it is, Tony is not having a good time, there might be Wanda conditions in his mind that Steve can use to convince Tony to do things... Also, because he is living there, I couldn't justify Sam not noticing there is something very wrong, so he is asking questions he didn't in canon as Tony's PTSD is more in his face living together you know? You clearly hate pretty much every aspect about this show--which is totally in your right--but then why are you still watching it? Even more so, why are you taking the time to post about it? If I stop watching a show I'm not gonna spend hours of my time watching and writing about it, I'm just gonna find another show I find better. Like what is the point of mocking it amidst fans when they're just trying to enjoy something they only get once every two years? How is that gratifying?

this might come as a shock to you, but i actually really love sherlock. i mean it’s definitely more complicated than just that. there are a lot hard-to-put-into-words emotions that i associated with sherlock.

though the writing of the first two seasons wasn’t the greatest, they were much better than the writing for the 3rd and 4th seasons. which is one of my issues. the writing has gotten worse. they’ve moved away from “the monster-of-the-week” format–like spn–and are also tanking pretty hard, like spn had. they’ve made the mistake of trying to make things too dark, too edgy, too extra and the plot and writing suffers for it.

like, i don’t mind if they want to move away from “monster-of-the-week,” but you don’t have to make the show darker, or whatever, to keep viewers interested. i get enough of it in my real life. and, usually, i go to fictional shows and books to get away from that.

anyway, sherlock is a very important part of my life. it’s hard to explain why, and even though i’ve come to severely dislike the writing, i still watch it because of the fact that it is an important part of my life. it’s become a safety blanket of sorts. i binge watched all two season when i first got to college. and i binge watched all three seasons + the special when i started my senior year of college. because it’s something i know, something safe for me. so even though i know that i’m probably not going to enjoy the new eps, i still watch it bc of how important it is to me. to be honest, i’m still excited to see what the writer’s have come up with (even though it’s not at all satisfying anymore).

but who ever said emotions had to make sense? or be mutually exclusive?

now, whether believe me or not, that doesn’t mean that i can’t offer up constructive criticism of it. if you love something, that doesn’t mean you can’t point out issues and problems it has. those two things aren’t mutually exclusive. in fact, it should be, that if you love something so much, you should make it your duty to point out these problems. to make it better and more enjoyable for everyone who watches it.

and, as i’ve said a few time before, my liveblogging is very informal, it’s supposed to be sarcastic and “whiny”–for the lack of a better word. essentially, i’m riffing it. so, yeah, it’s gonna be impolite and may come off as rude. but, when the time comes, i will explain in detail, with full sentences and civility why i think what i think.

honestly, i hadn’t been planning on completely liveblogging it. i made a singular post, thought that was going to be it, and then as the episode continued, i was just not having it. so i decided to share. bc i think i’m hilarious. partly it’s due to the fact that steven moffat wrote tld. i honestly don’t think his writing is great, putting it mildly. (now, i didn’t enjoy t6t, but it was better than tld, that’s for sure.) and the more the episode continued, the more problems i had with it.

as for your question about why i would even spend my time (see also (as some might say): waste my time) liveblogging about it–bc we’ve already been over why i continue it…mostly–i find it fun?

in a different post, responding to a different person here on tumblr, i told them that part of my liveblogging consists of a hybrid of cinemasins and mystery science theater 3000. so i find it fun to make sarcastic remarks, point out tiny mistakes that no one else may notice or just not care about, etc.

the other big part of it, is that i’m tired of being silent about the criticisms i have (not the sarcastic remarks) about the shows i watch.

part of my liveblogs consist of legitimate criticisms aimed at the show and writers. and, i’ve said this before, i’ll say it again, they could be worded better, i admit that. but i don’t have the time or energy to write out essays for every single criticism i come across (unless of course, i am asked to, or am prompted to).

sherlock is a huge fucking show. it’s so popular around the world, and millions of people watch and get others to watch the show. which is why it’s important to point out the problems it has, because people can and will take shows’ words as gospel.

if someone in a show does something and they aren’t reprimanded for it, a lot more people than you’d think, will take it as a sign that they, too, can do that thing without consequences.

when it comes to throwing around the word psychopath or sociopath, demonizing autistic people, or idealizing a–frankly–abusive relationship that’s not okay. and people need to be told this, because the show ain’t doing it.

media, in general, relies way too heavily on stereotypes and stigma and misinformation disguised as caring or want or romance (to name a few). this becomes a huge problem when people who watch the show start applying these stereotypes and stigma to the people they meet, or seeing these behaviors and thinking they’re okay.

this can also lead to prejudice, discrimination, and racism toward these groups (mainly minority groups–poc, lgbtqia+ members, disabled people, mentally ill people, autistic people, and so on), as well as not being aware they’re in an abusive, toxic relationship or that they’re being the abuser and are causing the toxicity of the relationship.

if we don’t point out the flaws and problems, media isn’t going to learn or grow, and it will only continue to strengthen the divide between “us” and “them,” and strengthen the stigma that follows a lot of mentally ill individuals, disable individuals, and autistic individuals. (i list these twice, bc this last episode had a lot of issues with, specially, autistic individuals. which i will go into more detail about in a diff post, bc a diff anon has already brought this up.)

i wouldn’t call my riff posts mocking, but i can create a tag that ppl can blacklist. i will not, however, use the tag when i’m making a genuine criticism. people need to be more aware and educated.
