jon being a beast hunter and that's how he finds ghost (who grows up to look like mike). while hunting for unknown species, he finds the wights so he brings in sam (a disease hunter) to figure out what's wrong with them. they think the ice zombie disease must have originated on the dark continent - and they're right because that's where the others are! since the wights are classified as an extinction level threat, the hunter association allows jon and sam to build a team (the nights watch) to go to the dark continent to investigate.

Operation Stumpy Re-Read
ACOK: Bran VII (Chapter 68)
Just kidding, it wasn't so bad.
The ashes fell like a soft grey snow.
We recall Tyrion in King's Landing.
Even though Theon has revealed to the reader he didn't kill Bran and Rickon, it's still not clear whether they're alive. When we finally return to Bran's POV, we open the chapter with Bran warged into Summer. I would bet money the first Jon chapter in TWOW will be the same.
+.+.+
The smoke and ash clouded his eyes, and in the sky he saw a great winged snake whose roar was a river of flame. He bared his teeth, but then the snake was gone.
It's smoke. He's seeing smoke.
This line, plus an upcoming quote from Osha, has caused the entire fandom to lose it.
Was there a dragon hiding in Winterfell? Is there an ice dragon? Will Drogon burn Winterfell?
No. It's foreshadowing the events in King's Landing. A castle is on fire, ashes fall, and there's callback to Tyrion's previous chapter.
Other than that, I'm loving the aggression aimed at that winged snake.
+.+.+
Dogs barked and whined and horses screamed in terror. Howls shuddered through the night; the howls of the man-pack, wails of fear and wild shouts, laughter and screams. No beast was as noisy as man. He pricked up his ears and listened, and his brother growled at every sound.
Ha! Direwolves hate man-pack howling.
+.+.+
Only then did he leave the trees, stalking slow across the fields. His brother ran with him, drawn to the smell of blood and death.
I don't like this sentence.
+.+.+
Beneath the great grey cliffs a horse was dying noisily, struggling to rise on a broken leg and screaming when he fell. His brother circled round him, then tore out his throat while the horse kicked feebly and rolled his eyes.
Horses are breaking their legs, and direwolves are eating well, in back-to-back chapters.
[...] the sight of it sent Stonesnake's mare into a panic; she reared and ran, and before the ranger could get her back under control she had stumbled on the steep slope and broken a leg. [...] Ghost ate well that day, - Jon VIII, ACOK
(And mentors are dying. 😭)
+.+.+
When he approached the carcass his brother snapped at him and laid back his ears, and he cuffed him with a forepaw and bit his leg. They fought amidst the grass and dirt and falling ashes beside the dead horse, until his brother rolled on his back in submission, tail tucked low. One more bite at his upturned throat; then he fed, and let his brother feed, and licked the blood off his black fur.
What a menace, I love him. Shaggydog submits to Summer, will Bran calm Rickon's nature?
+.+.+
The dark place was pulling at him by then, the house of whispers where all men were blind. He could feel its cold fingers on him. The stony smell of it was a whisper up the nose. He struggled against the pull. He did not like the darkness. He was wolf. He was hunter and stalker and slayer, and he belonged with his brothers and sisters in the deep woods, running free beneath a starry sky. He sat on his haunches, raised his head, and howled. I will not go, he cried. I am wolf, I will not go. Yet even so the darkness thickened, until it covered his eyes and filled his nose and stopped his ears, so he could not see or smell or hear or run, and the grey cliffs were gone and the dead horse was gone and his brother was gone and all was black and still and black and cold and black and dead and black . . .
Cold fingers!
While it's not ideal that Bran doesn't want to leave his wolf, I'm liking the fact that he's fighting the darkness.
+.+.+
"Bran?" It was Meera's voice. "You were thrashing, making terrible noises. What did you see?"
"Winterfell." His tongue felt strange and thick in his mouth. One day when I come back I won't know how to talk anymore.
I'll be storing that last sentence in my brain.
+.+.+
"I was with Summer," Bran said.
"Too long. You'll starve yourself. Meera dribbled a little water down your throat, and we smeared honey on your mouth, but it is not enough."
[...]
"The wolf ate," Jojen said. "Not you. Take care, Bran. Remember who you are."
You're not a wolf or a crow or a tree!
+.+.+
Here in the chill damp darkness of the tomb his third eye had finally opened. He could reach Summer whenever he wanted, and once he had even touched Ghost and talked to Jon. Though maybe he had only dreamed that.
I feel like we don't spend nearly enough time freaking out over Bran being able to grow trees, and control their branches.
+.+.+
Bran heard fingers fumbling at leather, followed by the sound of steel on flint. Then again. A spark flew, caught. Osha blew softly. A long pale flame awoke, stretching upward like a girl on her toes. Osha's face floated above it.
I don't think this is anything, but I'm sharing just in case.
+.+.+
When the shadows moved, it looked for an instant as if the dead were rising as well. Lyanna and Brandon, Lord Rickard Stark their father, Lord Edwyle his father, Lord Willam and his brother Artos the Implacable, Lord Donnor and Lord Beron and Lord Rodwell, one-eyed Lord Jonnel, Lord Barth and Lord Brandon and Lord Cregan who had fought the Dragonknight.
Tell me more about that guy!
+.+.+
On their stone chairs they sat with stone wolves at their feet. This was where they came when the warmth had seeped out of their bodies; this was the dark hall of the dead, where the living feared to tread.
Uh oh!
Finally he looked north. He saw the Wall shining like blue crystal, and his bastard brother Jon sleeping alone in a cold bed, his skin growing pale and hard as the memory of all warmth fled from him. - Bran III, AGOT
+.+.+
And in the mouth of the empty tomb that waited for Lord Eddard Stark, beneath his stately granite likeness, the six fugitives huddled round their little cache of bread and water and dried meat.
People think them hiding in Ned's tomb is ominous, but I think it's kind of sweet. Papa is protecting them.
+.+.+
"Is it day or night up there?" Osha wondered. "I've lost all count o' such."
"Day," Bran told her, "but it's dark from all the smoke."
"M'lord is certain?"
Never moving his broken body, he reached out all the same, and for an instant he was seeing double. There stood Osha holding the torch, and Meera and Jojen and Hodor, and the double row of tall granite pillars and long dead lords behind them stretching away into darkness . . . but there was Winterfell as well, grey with drifting smoke, the massive oak-and-iron gates charred and askew, the drawbridge down in a tangle of broken chains and missing planks. Bodies floated in the moat, islands for the crows.
This little bugger is perceiving two different locations at the same time, while fully conscious.
+.+.+
As they set off, he turned to give his father one last look, and it seemed to Bran that there was a sadness in Lord Eddard's eyes, as if he did not want them to go. We have to, he thought. It's time.
He's scared you'll be lost forever. ☹️
+.+.+
A naked sword hung down her back, one of the last to bear Mikken's mark. He had forged it for Lord Eddard's tomb, to keep his ghost at rest. But with Mikken slain and the ironmen guarding the armory, good steel had been hard to resist, even if it meant grave-robbing. Meera had claimed Lord Rickard's blade, though she complained that it was too heavy. Brandon took his namesake's, the sword made for the uncle he had never known. He knew he would not be much use in a fight, but even so the blade felt good in his hand.
Highlighting for future relevance.
That bit about keeping his ghost at rest is kind of weird.
+.+.+
The shadows behind them swallowed his father as the shadows ahead retreated to unveil other statues; no mere lords, these, but the old Kings in the North. On their brows they wore stone crowns. Torrhen Stark, the King Who Knelt. Edwyn the Spring King. Theon Stark, the Hungry Wolf. Brandon the Burner and Brandon the Shipwright. Jorah and Jonos, Brandon the Bad, Walton the Moon King, Edderion the Bridegroom, Eyron, Benjen the Sweet and Benjen the Bitter, King Edrick Snowbeard. Their faces were stern and strong, and some of them had done terrible things, but they were Starks every one, and Bran knew all their tales. He had never feared the crypts; they were part of his home and who he was, and he had always known that one day he would lie here too.
Bran, why would you be lying with the old Kings?
+.+.+
Bran had told himself a hundred times how much he hated hiding down here in the dark, how much he wanted to see the sun again, to ride his horse through wind and rain. But now that the moment was upon him, he was afraid. He'd felt safe in the darkness; when you could not even find your own hand in front of your face, it was easy to believe that no enemies could ever find you either. And the stone lords had given him courage. Even when he could not see them, he had known they were there.
No Bran! There's no comfort in darkness!
+.+.+
"Something is blocking the door. I can't move it."
"Hodor can move anything," said Bran.
[...]
"Open the door, Hodor," Bran said.
The huge stableboy put both hands flat on the door, pushed, and grunted. "Hodor?" He slammed a fist against the wood, and it did not so much as jump. "Hodor."
"Use your back," urged Bran. "And your legs."
Turning, Hodor put his back to the wood and shoved. Again. Again. "Hodor!" He put one foot on a higher step so he was bent under the slant of the door and tried to rise. This time the wood groaned and creaked. "Hodor!" The other foot came up a step, and Hodor spread his legs apart, braced, and straightened. His face turned red, and Bran could see cords in his neck bulging as he strained against the weight above him. "Hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor HODOR!" From above came a dull rumble. Then suddenly the door jerked upward and a shaft of daylight fell across Bran's face, blinding him for a moment. Another shove brought the sound of shifting stone, and then the way was open.
+.+.+
They stood in the shadow of the First Keep, or what remained of it. One whole side of the building had torn loose and fallen away. Stone and shattered gargoyles lay strewn across the yard. They fell just where I did, Bran thought when he saw them. Some of the gargoyles had broken into so many pieces it made him wonder how he was alive at all.
Uh oh!
Far above him, outlined against a vast pale moon, he thought he could see the shapes of gargoyles. His arms were sore and aching, but he dared not rest. He forced himself to climb faster. The gargoyles watched him ascend. Their eyes glowed red as hot coals in a brazier. Perhaps once they had been lions, but now they were twisted and grotesque. Bran could hear them whispering to each other in soft stone voices terrible to hear. - Bran IV, AGOT
+.+.+
Yet behind, the broken tower still stood, no more burned than before.
The broken tower took no additional damage during the sack of Winterfell.
Behind him the broken tower stood, its summit as jagged as a crown - Theon VI, ACOK
+.+.+
"We made noise enough to wake a dragon," Osha said
Shhhhh. Quiet. If you listen carefully, you can actually hear a bunch of nerds losing their mind over nothing.
+.+.+
The green and yellow panes of the glass gardens were all in shards, the trees and fruits and flowers torn up or left exposed to die.
Nooo! Protect the exposed flowers!
+.+.+
Of the stables, made of wood and thatch, nothing remained but ashes, embers, and dead horses. Bran thought of his Dancer, and wanted to weep.
This horse is not confirmed dead until the author writes it, okay?
Same goes for Old Nan.
+.+.+
"That's one of his ironmen. And there. And that's Greyjoy's warhorse, see? The black one with the arrows in him."
Uh oh!
Smiler died with arrows in him. Hmmm.
Lord Botley's misjudgment was his good fortune: a stallion with a temper as black as his hide, larger than a courser if not quite so big as most destriers. As Theon was not quite so big as most knights, that suited him admirably. The animal had fire in his eyes. When he'd met his new owner, he'd pulled back his lips and tried to bite off his face.
"Does he have a name?" Esgred asked Theon as he mounted.
"Smiler." He gave her a hand, and pulled her up in front of him, where he could put his arms around her as they rode. "I knew a man once who told me that I smiled at the wrong things." - Theon II, ACOK
+.+.+
The air was sweeter under the trees. A few pines along the edge of the wood had been scorched, but deeper in the damp soil and green wood had defeated the flames. "There is a power in living wood," said Jojen Reed, almost as if he knew what Bran was thinking, "a power strong as fire."
Do you see this? Do you!? The green wood defeated the flames!
The trees will win the day. Don't fuck with the trees!
+.+.+
Gently, they eased Luwin onto his back. He had grey eyes and grey hair, and once his robes had been grey as well, but they were darker now where the blood had soaked through. "Bran," he said softly when he saw him sitting tall on Hodor's back. "And Rickon too." He smiled. "The gods are good. I knew . . ."
"Knew?" said Bran uncertainly.
"The legs, I could tell . . . the clothes fit, but the muscles in his legs . . . poor lad . . ."
HE KNEW HIS BOYS.
+.+.+
Tears filled Bran's eyes. When a man was hurt you took him to the maester, but what could you do when your maester was hurt?
"We'll need to make a litter to carry him," said Osha.
"No use," said Luwin. "I'm dying, woman."
"You can't," said Rickon angrily. "No you can't." Beside him, Shaggydog bared his teeth and growled.
The maester smiled. "Hush now, child, I'm much older than you. I can . . . die as I please."
PLEASE NO.
+.+.+
"Listen," Luwin said to Osha, "the princes . . . Robb's heirs. Not . . . not together . . . do you hear?"
The wildling woman leaned on her spear. "Aye. Safer apart.
I don't ever want to look back on this exchange, and realize how important it was.
+.+.+
"Then where?" asked Osha.
"White Harbor . . . the Umbers . . . I do not know . . . war everywhere . . . each man against his neighbor, and winter coming . . . such folly, such black mad folly . . ."
White Harbor, and the Umbers. Is this something?
We know one boy could eventually land in White Harbor, but what about Last Hearth? The show went there.
+.+.+
"Good," the maester said. "A good boy. Your . . . your father's son, Bran. Now go."
He was his father's son. Wasn't he? Wasn't he? - Jon VI, ACOK
You're not wolves, or dragons, you're Ned Stark's sons. 🥺
+.+.+
Outside, they made their farewells. Rickon sobbed and clung to Hodor's leg until Osha gave him a smack with the butt end of her spear. Then he followed her quick enough. Shaggydog stalked after them. The last Bran saw of them was the direwolf's tail as it vanished behind the broken tower.
GOODBYE RICKON. GOODBYE SHAGGY. 😢
I look forward to the anticlimactic punchline!
I believe in you Osha.
+.+.+
At the edge of the wolfswood, Bran turned in his basket for one last glimpse of the castle that had been his life. Wisps of smoke still rose into the grey sky, but no more than might have risen from Winterfell's chimneys on a cold autumn afternoon. Soot stains marked some of the arrow loops, and here and there a crack or a missing merlon could be seen in the curtain wall, but it seemed little enough from this distance. Beyond, the tops of the keeps and towers still stood as they had for hundreds of years, and it was hard to tell that the castle had been sacked and burned at all. The stone is strong, Bran told himself, the roots of the trees go deep, and under the ground the Kings of Winter sit their thrones. So long as those remained, Winterfell remained. It was not dead, just broken. Like me, he thought. I'm not dead either.
Kind of neat the final chapter in ACOK is Bran describing the destruction of Winterfell, while the final chapter in ASOS is Sansa rebuilding it.
Under the ground the Kings of Winter sit their thrones -> there are still Starks in Winterfell. 😉
Final thoughts:
Friends,
WE DID IT!

While jeyne escaped from Ramsey after being married to him, Alys run away from potential marriage. Sansa is being married to tyrion when she escaped. For running from marriage it seems like marriage with harry will be on cards or he will be alive when she escaped. What do you think about prophecy in relation with marriage part of grey in girl prophecy?
That’s the funny thing. The marriage part is pure assumption and downright invention by Melisandre. In her chapter, we are shown again and again how much of what she does is smoke and mirrors. The same applies to the girl in grey.
What is her actual vision?
The girl. I must find the girl again, the grey girl on the dying horse. Jon Snow would expect that of her, and soon. It would not be enough to say the girl was fleeing. He would want more, he would want the when and where, and she did not have that for him. She had seen the girl only once. A girl as grey as ash, and even as I watched she crumbled and blew away. (...)
"The girl," she said. "A girl in grey on a dying horse. Jon Snow's sister." Who else could it be? She was racing to him for protection, that much Melisandre had seen clearly. "I have seen her in my flames, but only once. We must win the lord commander's trust, and the only way to do that is to save her." (ADWD, Melisandre)
It becomes clear, that the only thing she has seen is a girl in grey, “as grey as ash”, racing to Jon for protection on a dying horse, within a certain landscape.
How did she get from that to this:
“The heart is all that matters. Do not despair, Lord Snow. Despair is a weapon of the enemy, whose name may not be spoken. Your sister is not lost to you.”
“I have no sister.” The words were knives. What do you know of my heart, priestess? What do you know of my sister?
Melisandre seemed amused. “What is her name, this little sister that you do not have?”
“Arya.” His voice was hoarse. “My half-sister, truly …”
“… for you are bastard born. I had not forgotten. I have seen your sister in my fires, fleeing from this marriage they have made for her. Coming here, to you. A girl in grey on a dying horse, I have seen it plain as day. It has not happened yet, but it will.” (ADWD, Jon VI)
Simple:
Because earlier in that chapter, Jon (and by nightfall likely the rest of Castle Black) learn that “Arya” is alive and set to marry Ramsay Bolton. That is the key piece of information Melisandre was waiting for. She chooses to make the connection because her ulterior motive is to get his trust.
The whole exchange is built up to demonstrate her power to Jon. He’s reeling over his torn loyalties and once again marching around Castle Black after a sparring session. Unlike the last time GRRM structured a Jon chapter around a similar conflict (ASOS, Jon XII), this one doesn’t end with sunlight on the Wall and a loyal Ghost showing him the way.
It’s the opposite. It’s Melisandre and moonlight. She manages to work a glamor, by picking up on his guilt over Arya and over Ygritte (which is really another projection of his guilt over abandoning his family because he did actually think about killing her in battle, you know) while standing on the exact spot where Ygritte died beneath the Lord Commander’s Tower.
Picking up on that successful angle, she brings up the prophecy. Fishes for a name. Feels out the relationship while phrasing it in a way that makes it seem like she already knows. (”I had not forgotten.”) Then she puts Arya into the prophecy of the girl in grey. That’s the hook she needs to win his attention and his trust.
Then she uses magic to confuse Ghost’s loyalty. Then she gives him another, easier prophecy. Jon has sent out rangers beyond the Wall and Mel predicts they will return with their eyes cut out. This will come true, and it’s another way to demonstrate her power.
Why does she want his trust?
“Your Wall is a queer place, but there is power here, if you will use it. Power in you, and in this beast. You resist it, and that is your mistake. Embrace it. Use it.”
I am not a wolf, he thought. “And how would I do that?”
“I can show you.” Melisandre draped one slender arm over Ghost, and the direwolf licked her face. “The Lord of Light in his wisdom made us male and female, two parts of a greater whole. In our joining there is power. Power to make life. Power to make light. Power to cast shadows.”
She wants access to Jon’s magical powers to increase her own. To make more shadow babies. “I can show you” is the phrase Ygritte used when she forced sex on Jon the first time. It’s about using Jon for her specific purposes. Yikes.
But based on this personal motive, the identity of the girl in grey as Jon’s sister fleeing from a marriage is entirely invented, the same way she just constructs the rest of it with Mance.
“Did your fires show you where to find this girl?”
“I saw water. Deep and blue and still, with a thin coat of ice just forming on it. It seemed to go on and on forever.”
“Long Lake. What else did you see around this girl?”
“Hills. Fields. Trees. A deer, once. Stones. She is staying well away from villages. When she can she rides along the bed of little streams, to throw hunters off her trail.”
He frowned. “That will make it difficult. She was coming north, you said. Was the lake to her east or to her west?”
Melisandre closed her eyes, remembering. “West.”
“She is not coming up the kingsroad, then. Clever girl.”
ALL of this is assumption. Only the bolded parts are actual vision. A still water that “seemed” to go on forever to her west, so to her left hand. A hilly, cultivated and wooded landscape.
The idea that she is heading due North (as opposed to “toward Jon Snow”) and everything that flows from it (Long Lake, kingsroad, east and west) is pure assumption. The idea that she is in the North is pure assumption.
For all we know, this is Arya, but much later riding along the Gods Eye to Harrenhal, covered in the ash of King’s Landing or the second Field of Fire.
If we look to Sansa, there are smaller lakes in the Vale near Ironoaks (House Waynwood, en route to Gulltown) or Strongsong (House Belmore, en route to Heart’s Home, House Corbray), there are even other lakes in the North, near Torrhen’s Square, in the Wolfswood, along the Last River...
Heck, against all odds, like with the marriage that applies to Jeyne Poole and Alys Karstark, Melisandre and Mance might even accidentally be right about Long Lake.
The point I am trying to make is that we shouldn’t be too picky about the exact wording of the marriage part because that’s not actually part of her vision and doesn’t have to apply to the girl in grey at all, necessarily. Or it can apply in part.
Sansa doesn’t have to be fleeing a literal impending marriage like a runaway bride in order to qualify for the girl in grey. Arya does not have to be fleeing a marriage at all in order to qualify for another iteration of the girl in grey.

Your Gendrya fics are giving me life 😍 can you write about their wedding day/getting married? Thank you!!!
Soooooooooo it took me a year to actually do this. But......here it is 😂
The wedding between Arya & Gendry as seen by the old gods
The lord smith is not of the old gods. He was born beneath the eyes of the seven, in a small tavern near the Sept of Balor - though he does not pray to them either. He is southern borne, with warm skin tanned by a lifetime of working blazing fires, and eyes blue like the sea that crashes upon the rocks. He is different from the southerners, not perfumed and ceremonious. He is different than the northerners, too, with their cold roughness.
He is of soot and steel and fire.
The smith cuts an impressive figure in black and gold, a crowned stag salient stitched proudly into the fur of his cloak. His blue eyes nervously sweep over the thick circle of trees that make up the godswood. It is a small, intimate affair with only the lady Sansa, her brother lord Bran, ser Brienne and the newly knighted ser Podrick in attendance. A heaviness sits over the holy grounds, a sense of mourning for a small family which once was larger, and an eerie silence which once was filled with laughter.
Through a clearing of trees, a girl stills her breath. She knows how to quell the heavy beat of her thundering heart. She stands tall and brave, as women of the North often do, and shifts her grey eyes to where her betrothed awaits. He cannot see her, behind the trail of trees that twist and turns into the courtyard, but it’s as if his eyes still meet with hers. It is how it’s always been, how it has been through weeks and months, years and centuries. They have only just found one another again, but they have been linked together for eternity.
The gods know this. They’ve seen Stark after Stark married beneath the weirwood tree from Bran the Builder to Ned Stark. They have watched as this love story played out over and over and over. Those that follow the seven call it fate, but in the north they know it is the gods will.
For these two souls have always been in the gods plans. Their souls have found one another time and time again. It was always how it was to be.
Sometimes, the souls meet here, in the cold and distant mountains of the north. Sometimes, they meet far beyond the ice wall, wild and free. Sometimes, they meet as children. Sometimes as young lovers. Sometimes long after their first husbands and wives are dead. But they’ve always been bound to one another.
She is still and serious, a slight flex of her fingers the only telltale sign of her discomfort. She is as formidable a sight as the lord smith; the dark grey fur of her maidens cloak a sharp contrast against the white snow. Her hair is dark, curling down around her shoulders. Her face is pale, marred with scars and bruises that might never heal.
“Are you nervous?” The Targaryen lord asks. She turns to him, seeing a different face, the face of a boy who always loved her, though he feared he’d never belong to their family. He is not her cousin, she knows. For if some bastard boys on the kings road can become her brothers, then surely so can this man. So she refuses his name, the one his mother whispered as she bled out in a lone tower far away. He will always be Jon Snow to her.
“I never wanted this.” She says softly. And it’s the truth. She’d never wanted this life, the life of a bride, the lady of a lord husband. She couldn’t be that person. So she became someone else.
“It’s not too late to turn back.” Jon says, touching her elbow with a gentleness that is all brother and not would-be-king. “You can refuse. Gendry will understand.”
It is also the truth. The lord smith would never force her. She has done it before, turned him away, told him she could not share that life with him. He would never hate her. But she might hate herself.
“No. If there is anything I’m sure of, it’s him. It’s always been him.”
And so Jon links his arm with hers and they make their way to the heart tree, where her everything waits. She has searched the world for all that she has lost: love, hope, strength, family. But she knows it is all there, wrapped in the colors of a home he’d never known. He was nearly as lost as she was - two
children of dead lords trying to make it back home.
Her steps are silenced by the thick snow and she baits her breath, her face steely with determination. Even this child of winter, this wild wolf, cannot deny the pull. The gods have led her to her mate, like her family’s sigil. The wolf and the stag. Beast and prey. She has always been the hunter, and he the hunted. But, in this moment, as she makes her way through the trees and catches his eyes, it is she who feels like prey.
His wild blue eyes capture her attention until they are all she sees. The godswood have never been quite so beautiful, it is the perfect day for a winter wedding, but it is he she sees, and only he.
He looks so serious, so confident, almost regal, she thinks, and the thought that this man, this bastard boy from the slums of King’s Landing, could be this noble lord in front of her is almost laughable. But, her heart fills with something heavier than laughter, something that fills it completely and it is a blessing that Jon is holding her arm, else she might run like a fool to the lord smith.
She has never been quite so sure of anything.
When they reach the heart tree, and Jon places her hand in Gendry’s, Arya feels it. The sudden, audible silence that fills the godswood. It is as if the wind has paused, the winter birds have silenced. The lord smith notices, too, although he does not know these gods and the magic of the godswood. He is just in tuned with her.
His eyes shoot to the sky, thick brows furrowing. She squeezes his hand reassuringly, and when he looks to her, his eyes tell her everything. There is magic here. Magic older than any of them could imagine.
It is Maester Tarly who marries them. His smile is sheepish but kind. “You’ll have to forgive me. I haven’t had the pleasure of doing one of these before.”
She smiles and reaches out with her free hand, squeezes his arm. “I don’t think any of us have.” Her betrothed grins, too. After all they had been through, a wedding seems so foreign.
But Samwell carries on. He asks who comes before the old gods, and one by one they announce themselves.
“Arya Stark of Winterfell.”
“Gendry Baratheon of Storms End.”
And soon they are kneeling, cold snow seeping through their fine clothes, as they bow their heads and pray. Well, she prays. She is not sure Gendry believes in her gods, but he closes his eyes anyhow, and it is silent all around them.
All around her she feels eyes staring at her. And in her minds eye, she sees them. Sees father and mother, Robb and Rickon. Even Summer, Greywind, Lady and Shaggydog are there, watching them. Jory, Maester Luwin, Old Nan. A woman who looks like her, a flower crown neatly in her long dark hair. Her aunt Lyanna. And a man, built like Gendry with the same stubborn blue eyes. It is hard to remember the king, but here he is younger, healthier. Ghosts bearing witness to this moment.
She prays to gods she has not prayed to in ages. Asks them to watch over her and her new lord husband, asks that, after all the horrors they have endured, that they at last find some happiness.
It is only when Sam gently clears his throat that Arya opens her eyes, unwilling to let go of the warmth of feeling her family surround her. But, they are once again in the godswood with what is left of her family.
Gendry squeezes her arm, and her eyes meet his, Baratheon blue and Stark grey and she is suddenly filled with the sense that they have built a new family, a family of their own. Sansa, Jon, Bran, ser Brienne, ser Podrick, ser Davos, even Sam and Gilly and little Sam. They are here to witness the joining of House Stark and House Baratheon, as the gods always have willed. It was always meant to happen.
So, when the lord smith carefully removes her maiden cloak and wraps her in black and gold, the snow birds begin to sing and the godswoods are filled with distant howling. Tears prickle her eyes as his warm hands flatten against her cheek and she leans in to kiss her new husband.
Yes, the gods have always willed it.

If the summer of our lives could just come again, ch11
AO3 link
On the Kingsroad
Just as she feared, Sansa is black and blue at the end of each day’s riding. They’re not even going very fast, but every time she climbs out of the saddle she feels like it’s become part of her.
When they stop to eat in the evening, Ned mentions,
“I’m surprised you chose to ride.”
“I didn’t last time,” Sansa admits, “And I feel like I missed out, like there’s so much of Westeros I haven’t really seen. Every other time we’ve traveled, it’s been under duress, so I couldn’t appreciate it.”
Traveling at peace, she’s grown to appreciate the landscape. Everything is green, at its peak of growth, not yet touched by the winds of autumn, though they are on the cusp of it.
There’s a special sort of pain that comes to linger in Sansa’s gut caused by traveling alone with her father.
Once, when watching him speak to some of the men, she feels a sob crawl it’s way out of her throat.
When Ned looks at her, alarmed, her words spill out.
“The last thing I said to you before...you died thinking I hated you.”
Ned freezes, and then hugs her. He tries to assure her,
“There comes a point where as a parent, you accept that your children won’t stay little and perfectly adoring of you forever. I know you don’t hate me, and whatever it was over I’m sure I wouldn’t have held it against you.”
Sansa sniffs.
“Gods, I must have been an awful child to deal with.”
Ned laughs.
“You had your moments, all of you did. Some days we would have you swooning, Robb grandstanding, Jon sulking in the corner, Arya yelling and running away from the septa and Bran climbing something he shouldn’t all in one day. Rickon could do all of those in a single day himself, save maybe the swooning.”
When they pass through the Neck, it begins to rain lightly. The chill it brings puts Sansa’s mind back into her worst place. When they’re huddled under the covers of the tents one night, Sansa finally asks.
“The Boltons are really gone?”
Ned looks at her gently. None of them had been forthcoming about how Sansa, in particular, seemed so threatened by the Boltons. And after what he had seen at the Dreadfort, he feels he really doesn’t need to know.
“I swung the sword myself.”
Sansa lets out a breath, and leans forward to hug her knees.
“You should make sure to keep an eye on Ice,” she says, changing the subject rapidly, “Valyrian steel works on white walkers as well.”
“Not too many of those left in Westeros,” Ned comments. Sansa doesn’t tell him what became of it after his death.
“The recipe for making more was found,” Sansa admits, “and Gendry knows how to do it, but it requires dragon’s fire.”
Dragons. It should shock Ned more than it does.
He stares off into the woods a lot that night. Dragons on his mind.
When they finally reach King’s Landing, the smell assaults them both like a slap. Sansa steels herself, and walks to her place with dignity.
The keep is as it was, huge and full of historical lore, but also intimidating and sitting atop a city crawling with unrest.
The king too, is as he was. Fat, drunk and thoughtless. Thankfully he doesn’t give Sansa much notice. She looks out of the corner of her eye at him on occasion, seeing the resemblance to her good brother in what seems a near mockery. Sansa watches as he drinks and hunts his way throughout his days, laying all of his work on her Father and the council. Why did he even want to be king at all? Sansa thought, he fought a whole war, so many people died for it. What did any of this mean to him?
Cersei and Joffrey are much as they were too. Joffrey doesn’t pay her any mind, and Cersei only takes a moment to hold her chin in her fingers, nails sharpened to a point, and ask her if she had reconsidered the idea of marrying her eldest son.
“Oh, no, “ Sansa assures her, “Joffrey is a prince, and I belong in the north. I simply did not wish my father to have to make this journey alone. “
After that, Sansa tries hard to steer clear of her. If she can escape the queen’s notice, it will be easier to escape her wrath. It’s much easier than cutting and running every time she spies Lord Baelish on the premises. She feels her stomach tighten every time, and Lady follows her when she walks the halls alone.
Tommen and Myrcella both have changed some in the last not quite a year since she’s seen them, having grown taller and more into themselves. Sansa hadn’t paid Myrcella much attention before, being so blinded by the attentions of her older brother, but she now finds the girl a bright-eyed and willing companion.
“None of the servants have daughters my age, and Mother likely wouldn’t let me play with them anyway. Joffrey won’t let me join him and Tommen in anything they get up to either.”
Sansa looks at Myrcella, the girl having gotten close to hitting a growth spurt and already becoming lovely. Sansa reaches in her mind for any memory she has of what became of her once she’d been sent away to Dorne. All she remembers is that it hadn’t ended well.
But for now, she thinks the both of them could use a friend.’
“Do you know how to play cyvasse?” Sansa asks, recalling one of Gendry’s suggestions of past times.
Myrcella’s eyes light up.
“My uncle Tyrion has been teaching me, I’m sure he could teach you too!”
It’s strange to admit that Sansa has found herself avoiding Tyrion too. He’s back to the man she first met, and while she isn’t repulsed by him like she had been, she has to admit her feelings are mixed.
He doesn’t mention anything about what she told him before he left Winterfell, or of the letter, but she can feel him watching her, like he wants to ask but can’t find the words. She knows the feeling.
Myrcella convinces him one day after breakfast. They sit at a table in one of the gardens, over the board. After describing the movements of each of the pieces, Tyrion sits back to watch the two of them.
“Remember, the goal for all the pieces is to protect the king from being killed.”
Sansa picks up one piece, the dragon, examining it. The set they’re using is made of up of ivory and jade, lovely craftsmanship.
“Strange how the whole game is about protecting the king,” she comments, “But he’s not even the most powerful piece on the board.”
There’s so much reality to her comment, she thinks as Myrcella nods, and they begin to play.
She watches the board, and their hands moving the pieces around the board, fighting for the death of an imaginary monarch. What did all of that even mean to them?
She sighs, play stupid games, she thinks, win stupid prizes.
At Winterfell
Gendry has been getting into the rhythm of the days at Winterfell. He eats in the Great Hall with all the others, then he works. It’s usually in the afternoon, after the bulk of the rest of the work is done, when him, and usually Meera, and sometimes one or two of the others, will continue on the stockpile of dragonglass weapons.
The other girl didn’t pay him too much attention. She would chatter sometimes, idly, while they were working, but she seemed to focus on her work. The chip and whittle method she uses is time consuming, but her work always comes out well.
One day, she surprises him by asking if he could make her some metal fish hooks.
“I asked Arya if she wanted to go fishing with me in the Wolfwood in a few days,” she explains.
It is odd, Gendry thinks, seeing them together. The morning that they choose to leave, Arya asks him if he wants to come with them.
“That’s alright,” he says, never having really been a fan of nature. There’s something else too.
“It’s nice seeing you with friends. Not sure if you ever had those, aside from us. And let’s be honest, Hot Pie wasn’t so much a friend as he was dead weight that occasionally produced delicious food.”
Arya leaves him off with just a hug, and he adds,
“Be careful out there though.”
Meera had pulled down the pair of ash branches the day before and whittled them down. They were strapped to her back when she unsteadily joined Arya on their horse and left Winterfell through the hunter’s gate.
Arya feels Meera shifting uncomfortably in front of her.
“Still not quite steady?” she asks.
Meera shakes her head, tight lipped.
“I’m used to stepping carefully, for marshes and quicksand and unstable ground. It feels like I’m not quite in control up here.”
Arya pats the dappled gelding on the rump.
“You will eventually get used to it. Horses aren’t the smartest of beasts, but they’re very predictable.”
It’s a short ride though, the stream isn’t far from the keep. It’s fairly deep, but not too wide. As children, the Starks used to dare each other to try and jump over it. Only Robb was ever brave enough to try, and he got soaked for his bravery.
“What’s out right now?” Arya asks her, while she’s digging in the bank for worms for bait.
“Trout mostly.”
When they bait their lines, and throw them out, Arya sits back against the tree they’ve parked by.
“Did you really grow up doing this all the time?”
Meera nods.
“If you were trying to get a bunch at once, to salt or something, it was usually easier to cast a net. Rod fishing was mostly for relaxing on nicer days, and bringing back something to fry just for dinner that day.”
Arya sits back and looks at the sky. It is a nice day, clear and sunny if awfully cold. The leaves on the trees are starting to turn towards golden towards autumn.
“I wish I could have done that,” Arya muses, “Growing up here, everything I wanted to do I was told wasn’t for ladies. If my mother had had her way I would have never even gone outside.”
“There were perks,” Meera agrees, “It’s very different in the Neck, a lot more goes into ensuring our day-to-day survival. There were girls like you’re sister there too, girls who hated hunting and swimming and the like. Girls who probably thought I was insane to still do those things even though I was highborn and likely could have elected to never.”
That is something Arya has come to understand; that there are girls like her everywhere, and girls like Sansa everywhere. She does kind of wish she’d known Meera the first time around, when she was younger. It might have helped to know there were other girls like her at all, that she wasn’t some kind of freak.
They’ve caught three trout that Meera has gutted and strung up when the sun is high in the sky.
“I’m going to go down stream to bury the guts,” she stands and tells Arya, taking the bucket to dump.
When she’s done and goes to return, she feels the hairs on her arms stand up. She’s not sure why, but when she approaches, she, quietly as possible, climbs a nearby tree to get a look.
There’s three of them, she realizes, two men and a woman, dressed in shabby skins and furs. One of them has a knife on Arya, who through some miracle, just looks bored.
Meera clutches the knife she’d used to gut the fish in one hand. She can’t get the drop on three of them, she knows that. She loosens the grip, and reaches out, finding a cluster of acorns, pulling them loose and throwing them across the clearing.
The distraction works, when the man with the knife nods to the woman to check it out, Arya reaches out to grab the knife.
It’s a quick move, and from the yell the man lets out, Meera guesses Arya must have broken at least one of his fingers to get it. She flails out and slashes at him violently, cutting his face deeply before the other man grabs her from behind.
Meera eyes the end of the branch she’s on. It’s just a bit too far, if she could just get a little bit closer, she might be able to jump on top of one of them…
It’s not an issue. Less than five seconds after the other man grabs Arya, there’s a rustling and a fierce howl before the wolf bursts into the clearing and leaps atop the man holding Arya back, and takes a deep bite out of the side of his face.
Meera jumps down carefully into the fray, while she watches Arya, suddenly free, tackle the man she had slashed, who is still clutching his face. In one swift movement, she slashes his throat with his own knife.
Arya is breathing heavily, and when Meera hits the ground and pulls her own knife. There’s still the woman to deal with.
Though with the wolf, it’s muzzle covered in blood, standing beside the two corpses, she’s frozen, seemingly with no desire to try and fight it.
The woman drops her knife, and Meera goes to grab it. She gets a good look at her then, and stops short.
“Osha?”
If Osha is at all disturbed by her calling her by name, it doesn’t show.
“Do what you will with me,” she says, “Just don’t let that thing kill me.”
Meera looks over at Arya, who’s got her hands on both sides of the wolf’s snout, and has her forehead pressed against its own.
“That thing has a name,” Arya insists, “And it’s Nymeria.”
Nymeria was huge, Meera thought, bigger even than Summer had been full grown. She’d heard tell that Arya’s wolf was wilder than others, but it was apparently no less loyal.
“What do we do with her?” she asks Arya, nodding in Osha’s direction.
Arya points to the where they’d tied the horse.
“I have rope in the pack. Tie her hands and we’ll bring her back to Winterfell.”
Meera does what she says, pulling Osha’s hands, which are still raised in surrender, to tie them behind her.
Arya has paused, and is looking at the two corpses.
“We’ll have to come back and burn them,” she comments, taking out her knife again, “but first…”
She takes the knife to the one who’s face she slashed. Meera watches in horror as Arya cuts the man’s face from his skull in one piece.
Osha curses loudly, and starts muttering about witches. Meera understands.
“What on earth are you-”
Not even looking up, Arya quietly asks,
“Have you ever heard of the Faceless men?”
Meera’s stomach goes cold. There had been muttering about how Arya had spent her years missing before, but...
“You’re not-”
Arya laughs.
“Not officially, but they did teach me a thing or two. A wildling face could prove very useful, even if it’s all cut and scarred.“
Once she’s done, she takes the rope Meera’s holding and pulls Osha back towards the horse.
“You’ll walk.”
At the Wall
It had been, truly, for Jon to keep up his training at the Wall under the knowledge that his siblings had dropped upon him. The most effective route, he had discovered, was simply to try and forget he had learned any of it at all.
Sometimes this was harder than other times.
It’s hard enough when he’s getting mocked by the others, for his birth (which he now wants to throw back in their faces) or the burgeoning friendship he’s developed with Sam.
The worst is whenever he overhears some of the senior night’s watchmen speak of the intelligence they’ve gathered from over the wall. The wildling villages being abandoned, the burning of some keep that Jon has never heard of, the movements of a group of wildlings that they cannot assign a motive to. These are when the words of his siblings echo in his head.
He wishes uncle Benjen had stayed at Castle Black, just so he could see a familiar face.
But then they find the bodies of the other two rangers, and the corpses rise, and attack Lord Commander Mormont, just like the younger Stark’s had said they would.
Jon, in the moment, does not think. His training and instinct take over. When Mormont presents him with the sword, Longclaw, afterwards, he finds that he tries not to accept it.
When the older man pushes it on him anyway, he wonders about the certainty of what else they had told him.
And so, one night, he seeks out Maester Aemon.
After the older man offers him a chair, Jon cuts to the chase.
“You never talk about yourself, where did you grow up? And why the Night’s Watch?”
Aemon chuckles, and comments,
“First real brush with danger making you question your life choices? Well, if there’s nothing else that could…”
The old man tells him of his youth, growing up in King’s Landing.
“I knew wealth, and women. I could have even been king…”
Jon’s stomach seizes.
“You- your…” his mind reaches out into his history lessons, guessing at the man’s age. “You’re Aemon Targaryan.”
The old man chuckles. The rest of the words he tells Jon are a mess. Jon doesn’t even have the presence of mind to ask him about the Others like he had intended.
When he wanders back to the barracks, he realizes, that if the old Maester is in fact who he told him, then Jon is his blood family, who may be the only family the old man knows he has left.
Over the Wall
Henneh was the one they had sent out to blend in. She hadn’t bled yet, and would have been the old man’s next wife. Young enough to not be considered a viable threat.
Gilly clutches the baby and waits for her to return. She finally does at sunset.
“Is it true?” they ask her when she does.
Henneh nods.
“It’s true, the rumors. Mance Rayder is seeking the Horn of Winter, he wants to use it to bargain with the crows, to threaten to bring down the whole wall.”
“We can’t allow that,” a raspy voice interrupts. The woman who spoke it was old, though no larger than Henneh. Her skin was still gray and the leaves growing from her head were beginning to droop. She had told them that her name was Rowan, and she was the last remaining of the Children of the Forest. She had come to them one night, whispering the stories of the deaths of the rest of her people, and how she was trying to put into motion a plan that might save the rest of the realm.
“My magic can keep the illusion on the cave as long as we need, it’s small magic. But if the Wall comes down our plans with shatter. “
“Do you even have enough magic left for the plan?”
Rowan smiles.
“Most of its long gone. Opening the rift back here took a lot out of me, but it was necessary. Very little magic is involved in the plan we made, but we will need help. We must get to Castle Black before Mance Rayder, and before he can even think to bring down the wall.”
All of the women nod.
Before they leave that night, Gilly rocks her baby to sleep, wondering what they will call this little group after the fact.

After 18 Years of Evasion, Bounty Hunter Captures Racing Championship
The long wait, and the anticipation, had reached a fever pitch. Ever since the announcement came last year that the Monster Jam World Finals were making a move from it’s long-time home in Las Vegas to the southern tier of the country, the wonder of whether it would work was a constant question.
A new location, an entirely new track design, a smaller field; all these were new to Monster Jam, but it was clear when the sun came out on Friday morning that fans were ready to see what the new location had to offer.
Immediately, some of the things that the fans could see were the new layout inside Camping World Stadium. The entirely reworked starting line, set up on the second-level of the venue, with a downhill start, quickly grabbed eyes and was a major discussion point among many drivers, and crews, alike. The track from qualifying was still slick, but ready for some action later in the evening.
When the pit party opened, not only were there the 23 locked in trucks for the main event, plus the eight competing in the World Finals Showdown, on display, but an additional over 30 trucks were on hand to just hang out with the fans. Some even came out with all-new looks that debuted for the event, with some being one-off to never run another show.
The one guy that kept a trend going was former two-time freestyle champion, Jim Koehler, and his 1957 Bel-Air named Avenger. Ever since 2004, the World Finals have been an event where he ran a special body, many of which were run just once. Others, such as his famous blue sea body from 2009, get tucked away and ran just on a few occasions. But, for the World Finals, something unique always comes from the hauler of the Team Scream leader, and this year was no exception.
Trying to follow up last year’s look of a 1957 Nomad, Koehler went back to the classic car, but there was no green to be seen on the body. Instead, taking inspiration from the “Avengers-End Game” movie, his truck rolled off a flat bed blazed in glory, capturing a red, white and blue theme with stars on his front rims, stripes on the rear, as if Koehler channeled his inner Captain America.
It caught everyone’s eyes, knowing the potential that it would not look that way by the end of the weekend, but for now, it was shining bright.
Last year’s champions, the Anderson brothers Adam and Ryan, were ready to defend their championships on the entire new layout, but with a 23-truck field, there was one spot remaining to be set. That final spot would be filled by the preliminary event of the evening, the World Finals Showdown.
Fans got in their seats, and strapped in for the parade of trucks in the stadium, and it was officially time to get down to business.
The Showdown began with a few surprises, starting with an upset of sorts when Nick Pagliarulo in his Kragen Cadillac took an easy win over the third Anderson in the field, Krysten, when her Grave Digger failed to start while in the starting gate. At the same time, on the opposite side of the bracket, it was Linsey Read in Scooby Doo making a few surprises as she would make it through the first round over Mark List in El Toro Loco, then stunned everyone in the semi-finals when she took down Blake Granger in Max-D.
Pagliarulo was on point himself as he made it to the finals, but suddenly found himself having trouble in the pits. Read came to the line, but when Pagliarulo could not make the call to return. So, the man he beat in the semi-finals, took his place. That man was Tony Ochs in Soldier Fortune Black Ops.
Both took to the line and each launched hard, heading down the asphalt onto the dirt floor, but in the corner, Ochs spun tire. His truck kept swinging sideways, and Read then launched to by far the biggest moment in her career, becoming the first female driver to win the Showdown in order to make the main field.
A lot of other excellent female drivers have worked their way into the Showdown over the years, from Becky McDonough and Nicole Johnson to the aforementioned Anderson, but Read is officially the one to punch a hole in that glass ceiling, and had to quickly get ready for the biggest event of her life, as the racing bracket was yet to come.
SHOWDOWN RESULTS:
Round 1: Soldier Fortune Black Ops def. Monster Mutt Dalmatian; Kraken def. Grave Digger-Krysten Anderson (DNS); Scooby Doo def. El Toro Loco-Mark List; Max D-Blake Granger def. Alien Invasion.
Semi-Finals: Kraken* def. Soldier Fortune Black Ops; Scooby Doo def. Max D-Blake Granger.
*Kraken unable to make the call for finals, Soldier Fortune Black Ops takes spot.
FINALS: Scooby Doo def. Soldier Fortune Black Ops.
Between the racing brackets of the main event and the Showdown, Monster Jam officially added their two-wheel skills challenge as a championship competition. Unlike the stadium events, drivers had two rounds to make two attempts to stun the crowd. Just like freestyle tomorrow night, the fans themselves would be the ones voting on the winner, the same way they have voted the last three years in such competition.
The highest score from either round would count for the driver, with the highest score overall claiming the title, so everyone was waiting to see what many of these drivers had planned on the night.
Unlike the racing bracket, only eight drivers were making a run at the two-wheel skills, but right away it was a guy that’s had a lot of experience over the years making the first impact. Brandon Vinson won the Triple Threat Central title in his Grave Digger, and part of his talent was setting up the truck to handle such abuse. Being a former crew chief, he watched his former driver, Ryan Anderson, and how he controlled his beast.
His first run on the night set a very early tone, as he popped the truck right onto the nose, and then not only drove off the pad while still being on the front tires, but then made it across the track using just throttle and brake control.
The crowd lost its mind, giving him the high score of the first round, 9.113 out of 10.
But, the second round things got even more exciting, and maybe a bit controversial. Vinson held his lead through a field of eight trucks, but when Tristan England made a second run in the Earth Shaker, his ability to walk across the floor pushed him to the lead with a 9.355.
Then, Tom Meents happened. His now infamous container roll-up and walk was not enough to get the lead in the first round, but in the second round he rolled up to the tallest hill on the floor, and popped the rear of the truck high in the air and waltzed the Max-D Fire machine almost to the tunnel, before hitting reverse and walking the entire way up the hill and back on the tires. His score: 9.548, a new leader.
But, the fans were not expecting what his teammate had to offer, and that became the most controversial decision of the night to that point.
Neil Elliott did a similar setup as he popped the back end in the air, but he utilized one of the long dirt pads to walk his way to the containers. Then, as he went in reverse, the back end began falling slightly. Rather than hit the brakes, Elliott hit the throttle and suddenly the front tires caught the logs at the front of the hillside. His Max-D did a reverse flip, but what stunned everyone is the rear tires never touched the ground. When it landed, the front tires, and the front clip, caught the dirt, and spikes shattered on the ground. Every fan lost their minds, but then got stunned when the scores went up.
Elliott only scored an 8.911, which meant Meents still held the lead, and he stayed there through the end, meaning the veteran driver officially claimed an unmatched 12th world championship.
2-WHEEL SKILLS RESULTS (Highest Score of 2 Rounds):
Grave Digger-Adam Anderson: 5.624
Grave Digger-Brandon Vinson: 9.113
Earth Shaker: 9.355
Max-D Fire: 9.548
Max-D: 8.911
Son-uva Digger: 7.895
El Toro Loco-Armando Castro: 7.402
Grave Digger-Tyler Menninga: 6.644
CHAMPION: Tom Meents, Max-D Fire
Finally, with the night skies showing nothing but stars and a crescent moon, the 24-truck field was set to get after its main challenge, the racing championship. All eight trucks that had just competed in the skills challenge got an opportunity to ensure things were tight and right, because it was all about control, speed, and handling on the new track.
Read certainly found her groove as her night started out strong as she took down Jon Zimmer in Dragon Ice. The usual cast of top drivers mainly got a break into round two, as the 24-truck field allowed the top eight to have an automatic bye. It was the second round, however, that saw some of the biggest upsets of the night.
Sadly, Read could see her opportunity of being the first Showdown champion to go on and capture the championship as the crime-fighting monster dog was down for the count, meaning Zimmer was getting a reprieve. He took the opportunity and chilled off Meents, stunning the third-fastest qualifier with a second-round loss.
At the same time, Bari Musawwir, the first-ever Showdown champion, made his way into the quarter finals with a win over Wild Flower, then Megalodon.
At the same time, the one truck that kept staying consistent through the first three rounds was a truck that had yet to win a racing championship, Jimmy Creten in the narrow and nimble Bounty Hunter. After taking out the BroDozer, he moved past England in Earth Shaker, then put a halt to Ryan Anderson’s quest to keep the Anderson name as a racing champion for three straight years.
Creten made that official in the semi-finals when last year’s champion, Adam Anderson in Grave Digger, spun out in the corner, putting the black-and-blue Ford Expedition in the finals.
On the opposite side of the bracket, Musawwir got a slight gift in his semi-final as Camden Murphy, who in his own right stunned the crowd by making it to the semi-finals in Bakugan Dragonoid, suddenly red-lit and handed Musawwir the easiest win of the night.
It came down to one final race. Seven races determined a Showdown champion, and another 22 brought the field down to two. The right lane was filled with the Zombie Fire machine of Musawwir, while the left lane saw the new-look Bounty Hunter, carrying a body in honor of the band Five Finger Death Punch. Creten rolled to the line first, hitting the stage lights quickly. Musawwir then rolled in.
The fireworks went off, and the lights went green. Well, for one truck, they did.
Creten rolled into the lights quickly, seeming to use his racing background to an advantage, as he got Musawwir off his routine and rushed him to the line. That quick stage got the nerves of Musawwir to jump a bit quick, and the red light came on.
After 17 years of trying in Las Vegas, despite one world championship in freestyle, the one that eluded 2Xtreme Racing for so many years had finally become a reality. Jimmy Creten, with tears in his eyes, flanked by his wife, Dawn, and their family finally could say he won the title that mattered the most to him. He is officially the 2019 Monster Jam World Racing Champion.
RACING CHAMPIONSHIP:
Round 1: Monster Mutt Dalmatian Ice def. Grave Digger-Brandon Vinson; Zombie Fire def. Wild Flower; Scooby Doo def. Dragon Ice; Bakugan Dragonoid def. Grave Digger-Randy Brown; Lucas Oil Crusader def. El Toro Loco-Becky McDonough; Bounty Hunter def. BroDozer; Grave Digger-Morgan Kane def. Whiplash; Great Clips Mohawk Warrior def. Avenger.
Round 2: Grave Digger-Tyler Menninga def. Monster Mutt Dalmatian Ice; Zombie Fire def. Megalodon; Bakugan Dragonoid def. Max-D; Dragon Ice* def. Max-D Fire; Son-uva Digger def. Lucas Oil Crusader; Bounty Hunter def. Earth Shaker; Grave Digger-Morgan Kane def. Monster Energy; Grave Digger-Adam Anderson def. Great Clips Mohawk Warrior.

Round 3: Zombie Fire def. Grave Digger-Tyler Menninga; Bakugan Dragonoid def. Dragon Ice (DNF); Bounty Hunter def. Son-uva Digger; Grave Digger-Adam Anderson def. Grave Digger-Morgan Kane (DNF).
Semi-Finals: Bounty Hunter def. Grave Digger-Adam Anderson; Zombie Fire def. Bakugan Dragonoid (Red Light).
FINALS: Bounty Hunter def. Zombie Fire (Red Light).
The night was not over just yet, because when it comes to the World Finals, ever since 2001 the thing that many fans have enjoyed was the encore performance to close out the festivities.
On this night, the way the night ended was with fire and ice…as in Monster Jam’s Fire and Ice. Rolling out the tunnel to stun the crowd first was an ice-themed truck that had never run, but was part of the Spin Master diecast line, Soldier Fortune. From the tunnel shortly after came the ice themed machines of El Toro Loco, Monster Mutt Dalmatian, and Dragon. One leap and the fleet parked on a pad, only to see things get red hot.
From the tunnel, the fire-themed trucks were led by Grave Digger, sporting a black chassis and some hot colors on its famed scheme, followed by the Fire machines of Megalodon, Zombie and Max-D. After an eight-way set of donuts from the field, and stereo leaps in the racing lanes, each truck kept on it’s designated side of color, red or blue, and when the signal was given hammered every container and tire wall for an eight-way backflip to send the crowd home with a thrill.
Even as we speak, the track crew is at work converting the wildest racing course on the season into a fun house for freestyle, because Saturday night is the crowding of another champion…or potentially two champions.
In addition to freestyle, the other championship on the line is the newest one to be introduced, as drivers will literally be reaching new heights. The high-jump competition will happen before freestyle, so get to those seats early, and enjoy the second pit party of the weekend beginning at 11 a.m.

Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 6 Recap Pt. 3
WARNINGS:SPOILERS; not a D@€n€r¥$ fan; Jonsa shipper ( I still believe)
————-
6.- Back on Eastwatch, we have this morons trying to not freeze, too late for Thoros tho, I mean dude was a walking corpse since the Hound had his fire vision, he was completely obtuse for the plot so they got rid of him. I feel nothing. Guess his conversation with Jorah (that I totally skipped cuz boring) was heartwarmming but still I knew he was dead as soon as the bear got him. They burn his body with his own alcohol.
7.- An invitation arrives for Sansa to go to KL, amd she is like LMAO I think no you trick ass bitch, my girl is not an idiot and there is no way in hell she’ll go, if Cersei wants to make her prisioner again she can damn well bring her ass to the North and try, and she sends Brienne in her stead, Brienne doesn’t want to leave her on her own with LF, Sansa has to snap and her and basically throw her on the street to get her to go (god Jon is gonna have a hissy fit when he sees Brienne at KL and knows Sansa is alone at WF with LF) very wise decision knowing LF wanted to get Brienne tagled up on his schemes.
8.- In Dragonstone Tyrion is trying to stop D from going to the rescue cuz he doesn’t want her to die even tho he is fine with the man that volunteered for this stupid ass mission that was his idea dying (consistent characterization where art thou?) but she goes anyway cuz #YOLO
Also this unsubtle shift to white clothes now that she is gonna do an heroic thing, she honestly looks kinda like Elsa from Frozen, where does she get this clothes anyway, did she brought a new wardrobe from Essos? Are the Dothraki sewing and knitting clothes??
Where are the Unsullied and the Greyjoys????
7.- Yeah so they just kinda waiting around for their Uber, but the Hound is taking none of this boring but safe bull, let’s throw rocks at the wights for funnsies. So he does and the wights get angry? Annoyed? Who knows really? And they begin to close in our heroes.
Jon thinks they’re doomed without D’s help but Beric points put that not really (Beric and his sexy ass voice are winning me over)“as long as they kill the Night King everyone else is gonna be detroyed (this sounds waaaaaay to convinient, almost as if d&d want to get rid of the WW as fast as possible so they can focus on the political/human problems) but Jon is not so optimist. So yeah we get some fighting in, and things are beginning to look real bad for the Wight Hunters when boom Khaliisi comes in rising and burning wights (and ice) as she goes! They are saved OMG what a relief! (excuse my sarcastic ass) everyone is getting on the Dragon choo choo, except Jon (guess we’re saving the dragon riding for laters) who keeps on fighting.
Now I guess this is relevant, he thought they were doomed until D arrives, she is burning her way through th wights like you couldn’t believe and Jon is visibly relieved, he is getting the hope that maybe they can win this war, he is clearly trying to fight his way to the NK, I thought he wanted to end it right there, go for the NK and be done with it that is why he refuses to go.
Now his hopes get dashed away when NK throws at spear at Viserion and kills him, now I’m really worried, did I broke something inside me? Why is it that I don’t care? Oh right we never got a scene with Viserion alone, if he had bonded with Jon last episode instead of Drogon (Jon still thought this giant lizards ugly af tho) then Hey maybe I could have cared, but this feels like super dramatic and emotionally manipulative from the writers tbh. I feel the whole purpose of killing him off was to have "Cool Ice Dragon” and for some rushed J/D moment (I have a lot to say about it) D is stunned by grief I guess? Jon gets angry but I don’t think it’s cuz he cared about the dragon or for D, i mean of course he must have felt sympathy for her she stated that she loved them just last episode, but i think his rage comes from the frustration of knowing he can’t end this right now, he can’t prevent more people from dying and now with a dragon in the army of the dead…
So yeah Jon tells them to go away cuz the crazy ass bitch wants to die I guess, and he doesn’t want anymore Dragons joining the wights.
The lake gives away, but Jon comes out of the water freezing to death, the Wights surround him but he is too weak to fight, when BAM! Magical convinient Uncle Ben saves him, Jon is clearly surprised and emotional at seeing the uncle he loved so much and thought to be dead (dammit those Starks are hard to kill) but Benjen is having none of that cuz he has to be a martyr saving your ass Jon! So he gives his stupid ass nephew his horse, Jon gallops away while seeing his uncle dying (OK my emotions are back, I love uncle Ben even if D&D made him this protagonist characters convinient saviour).
8.- Back at Eastwatch, you know the actual castle, D is waiting for Jon looking hopefully at the horizon, while Jorah is trying to save her the heartache (I mean if this had any realism anymore Jon would be totes dead) but here he comes riding and all that jazz.
Before we dive into that scene (you know which) I’d like to stablish some thoughts:
-I believe D’s feelings for Jon are real, but they are not based in real things. First let’s ask ourselves why is she even in love (if we can call it that at this point) with him? She is clearly attracted yes, but Love is different than lust, so yeah he is a great guy I guess? But she hasn’t really seen him at that, everything she knows about him is based on the stuff Tyrion knows about him: his brothers are dead, as well as his father,he was at the Wall, he has a wolf?? I dunno if Tyrion mentioned that cuz the only one who remembers Ghost exists is Sansa, and the mystery about the dagger to the heart. And that’s where I think this fixiation comes from, this man could be her equal he is not afraid of her and stands his ground (on her POV) and maybe he is as magical as she is, Drogon let the man pet him!!!
But what she sees vs what actually is, shows she doesn’t know this man at all, what’s more Jon doesn’t want her to know him.
-She talks to him about her brothers when she is telling him the names of her Dragons, perfect oportunity for Jon to talk about Robb,Rickon and Bran(Jon thought he was dead as well) but doesn’t.
-She is talking about Ned on her big speech on their meeting, yet Jon his biggest admirer didn’t jump to defend his beloved father??
-When she is talking about her Dragons he could have very well mentioned Ghost yet he didn’t
-Davos jumped to defend him, and was telling D all Jon went through but Jon stopped him, she asked directly about the dagger to the heart and he said nothing.
-She was happy for him when he finds out his siblings aren’t dead, but Jon doesn’t show any emotion about it.
-As a matter of fact he never símiles or seems at ease in her presence. Fuck it even jondry has more build up in their two episodes together. Jon smiled at Gendry and talks with him about Ned. (not to mention Sansa, she makes him smile like no other.
It all feels almost like he has no goddamned interest in getting to know her (she is always the one to share this information without him asking) as a person, he doesn’t want her to know him. Why???
Reminds me about this quote:
“When you are attracted to people, it’s because of the details. Their kindness. Their eyes. The fact that they can get you to laugh when you need it the most.”
- Jodi Picoult, Sing You Home
Jon has never laughed or smiled near D, and that's the most telling stuff about this whole romance debacle in my humble opinion.
9.- Boat time! so Jon is just waking up (I knew my son didn't decided for himself to ditch WF and go to KL instead) and D is there (no I was just joking about the Twil1ght and 50s0g last week stop staring at people while they are asleep and shirtless is creepy) Honestly her eyes when she saw the scars on his chest made me uncomfortable (I could practically see her delusions about how magical Jon is and barfed, cuz yeah Jon is pretty magical, but the amazing thing about him is that he wants none of that he doesn't want t be a hero or a god, hells he didn't even wanted to be King!!) Anyway Jon's eyes focus on her and the first thing that comes out of his mouth is that he is sorry about Viserion? For real? Uncle Ben died to save you and you care about this? Of course not! Have some faith in Jon ffs! Goddamn it he got killed by the NW when he rushed from his office cuz Uncle Ben had returned!!! He loved uncle Ben, why would he care about Viserion?? He does not! This is another 'they are gorgeous beasts" he is bullshiting her so hard it's obvious.
She thinks he is her equal and defy her and all that jazz, but in all their interactions (except that time he said I am King to get away from DS) he caters to her, he is never sincere with her, for he has learned she doesn't listen.
She says she'll fight the WW and about how the dragon are the only children she'll ever have, doesn't mention a thing about kneeling everything seems almost too perfect, so why would Jon bullshit her?? Maybe I am just a salty shipper, but point is I don't think Jon trusts D a lot, oh yes he talked about trust when he wanted to get away from DS, and he did show trust going to meet her without weapons or a proper guard, but I stand by what I said last week she betrayed that trust the moment she called him a rebell and took his boat making him prisioner in all but name, not to mentionhe saw in frist row how she blamed Tyrion(her hand) for things going wrong and he doesn't have the luxury of having her turn on him, she is alright now but if another Dragon or one of her friends died what then? She could just go back to Essos, he can't afford that.
So he calls her Dany, and she laughs (bitch me too the fuck) but he doesn't smile at all, and he takes her hand, this gave me serious flashbacks of the Jonsa scene Back on S6 when Sansa takes his hand, or the scene from 7x01 when she takes his arm and he looks down, just his time positions are reverted, Jon is the one touching D (this gesture he has come to learn is very effective to have someone listen to you) and D looks down on their joined hands but Jon doesn't, he looks almost pained and guilty (he is an awful liar) Jon goes as far as to call her my Queen and saying he would bend. Seriously y'all think he was being sincere, why would he go from calling her stranger just last episode to being all Dany my Queen with no development in between the very next? No this doesn't make sense at all.
Why do you all think all this random ass conversations about Honor=Dead and "bending the knee is OK if you do it for your people's life" if not to foreshadow this? Jon himself said he went on the mission for the North, why would he seriously ditch his family and people for someone he just met? You can scream he is attracted to her all you want, I personaly don't see it, but it's a disservice to Jon to think he could mean any of this, he is not above using sex and romantic feelings (Ygritte) to do his duty, even if he developed feelings in the last situation he choose his duty and he will again because he loves Winterfell and he loves the Stark shipping aside. It would be ridiculous to have Lord Glover talking about foreing whores, Sansa warning about to be smarter than Robb and Ned, Tormund going on and on about Mance's pride, Jorah and Jon's conversations about Jeor and Ned and Beric talk about how thrones and Queens don't matter if Jon is suddenly gonna forsake it all in the name of a love we have no proof but Tyrion's and D&D's words (that we shouldn't trust cuz it's not likely they would give away such a twist) that it exists at all.
D eats it all up (I kinda feel bad for her, almost, only if she weren't such an entitled brat) and she tells him to rest. Jon clases his eyes and as soon as she is out he stares at the ceiling and sighs, again not subtle at all.
Anyway that is just what I think.
10.- The wights are getting Viserion out of the lake with some big ass chains, where do they even get this stuff? Hardhome? The had this big ass chains? A convinient again. Anyway so Viserion's out and his eyes open, and they are blue. Real talk the NK has had more bonding with him in this 2 min than D in all the seasons.
--------------
That's all I hope the finale is a bit better cuz this episode was hella boring.

What castles coincide with Arya's siblings?
Arya - Harrenhal
Sansa - The Vale
Robb - The Twins
Rickon - Winterfell
Jon - Castle Black
Bran - Winter’s Keep
Ghosts of Castles Lost
I. Harrenhal
Peace is slowly creeping back into the realm.
Men have seen enough of war. The world has seen enough of death. The kingdom is scorched and ravaged and razed, but the roads are safer than they’ve been in years.
People pass each other, strangers where once they were neighbors. They are not afraid, they have seen enough of battle to be scared, but are unwilling to look into the faces of those whom they have crossed swords. Brothers were killed. Sisters were raped. And all sides are still both bitter and ashamed.
She finds no need to bind her breasts any longer, though she still keeps her hair sheered short. Out of habit, perhaps, or convenience. Or to remind her of who she is now and what she hasn’t been for a long time.
She has lived a hundred lives and died just the same. She has worn a hundred faces and been given a hundred different names. Arry, Weasel, Nan, no one. She answers to Arya if someone calls, but she knows she hasn’t been Arya for lifetimes.
She isn’t sure who she is anymore.
She has left pieces of her behind wherever she went - to realms so far south that she had to hide her skin from the sun and sand so it would not burn away. To the free lands where women bared their breasts and men dyed their hair the color of rubies and sapphires. She has learned the language of those who veiled their faces, fought with those who adorned their braids with bells, laid with those who marked their flesh with every full moon. She has been to the House of Black and White to live with the men who served the Many-Faced God. She has seen the Dragon Queen.
She longs to go back north, to recover a part of her that she vaguely remembers, and when she makes up her mind to go, she is already half of the way there. She ladens a stolen mount with what she needs, which isn’t much. Food she will get along the way. And shelter. She remembers a place from so long ago.
The halls are empty, cavernous, a place built for giants and she, but a ghost. The floors are ash and dirt. The walls, rags and dust. Tapestries fray and peel from the stone, banners with illegible sigils and faded colors. The castle is but ruin and decay - a shame for such a grand place.
Arya recalls Old Nan’s stories. She remembers that the foundation is strong with the bodies of men. She remembers that the towers were built with blood, mixed in the mortar and laid between each and every brick. She remembers that the walls were raised with fear the way the walls of Winterfells were raised with magic.
And neither fear nor magic had been strong enough to keep either castle from falling.
But Harrenhal was still alive. Arya could hear creeping amongst the rotting stone. Cats and mice and birds, but men as well. They inhabit the halls for a night or two while on their way to here or there, rejecting the haunting tales of Harren the Black and his sons - of his hubris and the horrors of the ruinous place. The appeal of the monstrous keep is too great for bypassers. Great enough to forget a curse. Great enough to forget a ghost.
But Arya remembers a time when all it took for men to fall was her will and the sound of her whisper.
II. The Vale
A madness has overtaken her, they say, like the Lady of the Vale before her.
But if the smallfolk are to be believed, Sansa keeps it hidden. She is faultless and unblemished like the snow that blankets the peak. She is white and pure and beautiful like her sister remembers. Her hair is piled high in scarlett braids and threaded with shining gold. Her dress is silken and flowing, lovely and bright as her Tully-blue eyes.
When she receives Arya in the High Hall, she’s sitting on the weirwood throne of the Arryns, a doll, ragged, filthy, held against the pale nipple of her naked breast.
Is that the doll father gifted to you? Arya wonders. Have you kept it all this time?
Maybe she is mad.
She abides in a hollow castle, far away from the reach of man. The Vale had remained untouched by war, but winter is here and those who had stayed now take refuge at the base of the mountain. They have all left her, alone in the high and desolate keep. The white stone halls are deserted and still and Arya can feel the silence echo through her.
Sansa crawls into her sister’s bed that night, laying her head on Arya’s chest, and their arms entwine as they clutch each other tight. Sansa can feel the rhythm of her sister’s heart against her cheek, her breath breezing through her hair each times she exhales.
Sansa asks her to stay. “The winter is cruel,” she whispers, “and I am alone.”
Arya runs her fingertips over Sansa’s skin, and it is as smooth and chilled as porcelain. She thinks that the frozen lands of the north can’t possibly be as cold as the castle that her sister calls home. As barren as the sleep that she sinks into night after night. Thrice a widow and a maiden still, they say. Arya wonders if Sansa has ever shared a bed with anyone other than herself.
“We are wolves,” Arya reminds her. “And wolves are made for winter.”
She can feel as Sansa clutches the doll tighter in the crook of her elbow. Hold him near, sweet sister. Keep him close. They fall alseep in Arya’s bed, curled together like wolfcubs.
When Arya awakes the next morning, she finds the doll left in her sister’s place. The sheets are cold and the stone floor is biting. Her breath, a frozen cloud before her. She bears the chill as her naked feet glide across the room, her lungs filling with ice until she feels as though she can no longer breathe.
The wind whips through the corridors, pushing Arya back, pushing her away, pushing her across the castle until she is running with no air and numb feet.
Sansa, she calls. Sansa. And the emptiness mocks her, echoing the name until there is only Sansa Sansa Sansa in her ears, in her eyes, in her mouth, the cold wind pushing the shadow of her sister back into Arya’s lungs.
She stops at the edge of the Moon Door, the open space still hungry and howling, trying to push her back, trying to lure her closer.
Arya clutches her sister’s doll and thinks that there are worst ways to die.
III. The Twins
(so this is where I stopped so it’s just a whole bunch of disjointed ideas)
The land is cruel in its beauty. It is overgrownand tangled and wild
Arya vows to salt the earth.
Men now risk the marshlands and avoid the twinnedkeep.
the place is haunted
not even wolves dare
the wind like a howling beast
fear cuts deeper than swords, she has trainedherself to say, but this time she is not afraid. It is by rote that she repeatsthe words, saying them to steady herself as she creep
it’s early dawn, the sky is pink and purple andorange
The sound of her horse’s hooves echo through theair
burns like ice
she wonders at what other creatures creep through the halls
macabre
silver shadow
eyes like molten gold
He still wears a crown
hollow crown
What are you king of now, brother? Do you ruleover haunted keeps and we, the ghosts that inhabit them?
The crown came at a cost, she thought. And we allpaid the price.
IV. Winterfell
The people in the north are scarce, and none liveinside the castle walls except a wolf, a woman, and the winter lord. The threegreet Arya at the gate.
The man is wary of this stranger who callsherself sister.
His memories of before the war are more thanhalf-forgotten; this woman’s face, only a dream that comes to him when thesnows fall deep.
Rickon the Wild, they call him. Rickon whoRebuilt Winterfell. The Second Stark to Bend the Knee.
He is tall and lean and lithe. His hair is darkred and wild, running down his back in long torrents of molten amber. His eyesare fierce and frightening, blue as the frozen winter sky. They flash like anocturnal predator when the descending sun hits them, bores through Arya as if //
But he knows no lord’s courtesies. He was tooyoung to learn and hasn’t been taught since.
He keeps to the crypts, the wildling tells her.Or the godswood.
He thirsts none for blood these days. He’s drunkhis fill.
All the gold of Casterly Rock at his command. “Ameager consolation,” he says, “for what they have done to us.”
And three Lannister heads, he doesn’t say. A morecomparable consolation, but even as unsatisfying still. Three Lannister headsin a golden box, offered up to the Dragon Queen, and a promise of yet morelives to come.
But his builders are northmen and wildlings
The north will be rebuilt by the north
“Everyone went away,” he says,“but I came back. There must always be a Stark in Winterfell. And I cameback.”
his hands are big and his fingers long
he spends his time wandering beyond the castlewalls.
taciturn
his wolf is wild, the woman is wild, but he isthe most wild of them all.
black wolf green eyes
“The north does not need a king,” hetells her over their meal. “It needs hunters and healers andbuilders.”
His voice is hollow. He knows no lord’scourtesies but he does know his duty.
His fork drops with a clatter. “I neverwanted this,” he says as he holds his face in his hands.
“You won’t come back,” he tells her.“No one ever comes back, but I did. There must always be a Stark inWinterfell. And I came back.”
V. Castle Black
She wishes she could fold back time.
Back before Jon left for the wall so she couldplead for him to stay. Back before she left for King’s Landing so she couldproperly say goodbye. She thinks of Rickon and Bran and Robb - the brothers whoshe left behind. She thinks of Sansa and her last words spoken.
She wishes shecould fold back time; fold it tight and keep it in her pocket.
We were all of us made to grow up so fast.
Rickon had sent a raven ahead to Castle Black. He’s done his lord’s duties and that is all that is expected of him.
She knows that Rickon does not expect to see heragain.
Jon is the one she has always loved the best.
outside the night rain was turning to ice, theheart in her chest battering her ribs like hailstones
one hand scarred and wrinkled
his body scarred
wounds that must have been deep
It is furiously cold on the Wall, and even in theCommander’s solar, they still wear their furs. Fires lick the walls aroundthem,
She’s had nothing but leagues between //// andthe Wall to think of what to say, but “Look,” is all she can manageas she unsheathes Needle, holds it up and displays it proudly. They watchsilently as the sword glitters in the firelight. I have given up everything, but I would never give up this.
She feels like the child she was back inWinterfell. Like Arya is who she is and not just a name.
VI. Winter’s Keep
He shies away when he doesn’t see her wolf.
Stares at her as if a piece of her is missing. Hedoesn’t know why, and he doesn’t ask. There are already too many questions toworry about the painful ones.
And losing ones soul, that must be the mostpainful of all.
For his part, Summer stays beside him
His eyes are clear and kind and old.
someone wise peering out despite his years
archaic
the woman is apprehensive
they had a set of twins and name them afterbrothers lost. Robb and Jojen
Bran lives in a keep several days north of thewall.
It once belonged to a man named Craster, but nolonger. The brothers on the wall call it Winter’s Keep.
few wildlings even stay north of the wall, migrated to the gift on Rickon’s request.
He doesn’t plead for her to stay, but he doestell her that the north is cruel. He tells her that he is a bird sometimes andcan fly beyond the reach of man. He tells her that he slips from his skin andwears Summer’s fur like a cloak. He tells her that he can teach her how.
She thinks of her soul wandering somewhere in asouthron forest. She thinks of Nymeria. She could –
But no,that would take her back and she has come so far.
She must go on.
People do not come back, he says. Only ghosts cansurvive in the Land of Always Winter.
Arya is a ghost and she is not afraid.

Name: Amelia “Mia” Berman Birthday: December 17 (29) Species: Werewolf Lookalike: Katheryn Winnick Availability: Taken
Personality
Despite what she’s been through and the assumptions that she may be timid or her spirits would’ve been broken, it isn’t true when it comes to Mia. Although she may come off reserved and cold at times, there’s still a lot she’s doing her best to overcome even if she doesn’t speak on it. She had seen what monsters walk the earth but still, she tries not to let that control her. Once she does trust someone, they can see that Mia tries to stay optimistic and doesn’t let anything stop her. As much as she can enjoy some peace and quiet she also loves to get a little loud and dance around. She can be a trickster, jokester which is a way for her to ease her own tension. One thing that never changed for her, was her curiosity with everyone and everything, being curious keeps her going. She is headstrong and once she has her eyes set on a goal, she will do what it takes to achieve that.
Past
The Berman family was one of the better known names in Manhattan’s legislative system. Generations of old money and a history of lawyers and judges in the family were the leading factors for that, but it would be a future scandal that would bring the name into the public spotlight. In the meantime, this made Amelia’s upbringing more than comfortable. With her father considered as one of the best criminal lawyers in the region, this left him busy with work, spending his days in the courthouse. This also meant that Amelia’s mother spent her days occupied, not with taking care of her daughter, but with spending her husband’s income on luxuries. Both parents were always out of the house and they rarely ever even had a family dinner together. But Amelia never complained; it was the lifestyle she was accustomed to and she would get whatever she wanted. So instead, she found a family in her nanny and her nanny’s son. Even when the nanny was no longer needed, the pair kept in touch with Amelia.
The older she got, the stronger her parents absence grew to the point of not seeing their daughter for weeks. This forced Amelia to become independent and mature quickly, but she still held a rebellious side. Her weekends would be spent at parties, drinking and trying whatever drug peaked her interest. She never went overboard; at the end of the day, she was the Berman’s perfect child and she couldn’t tarnish that image. Still, she was allowed to have fun and let loose every once in a while. She was taking control of her life and living it the way she wanted to. But some things are just out of our hands. Dancing in the hazy room, seventeen year old Amelia was enjoying herself at a party when one of her classmates had started to get aggressive. The guy had gone overboard with the drinking and the drugs, mixing things that he shouldn’t have. When his friends had tried to sit him down, he shoved them away from him, throwing punches at anyone that got close. Everyone else was backing away and most started to leave the scene, including Amelia. The guy didn’t seem that like that as, in his state of aggression, he tried to grab those running away. His hand ultimately grabbed Amelia’s and he pulled her towards him, the force of which caused the pair to fall to the floor. He ended up on top of her and his hands were around her throat. Some of his friends that had tried to sit him down earlier were now trying to pull him off her but whatever the guy had took was working in his favour. She was struggling to breathe and in that moment of desperation, her hands were reaching out for anything to help her. She eventually grabbed something heavy and swung at his head.
Immediately upon connection, the guy fell off her and she moved away from him, thankful for the oxygen reaching her lungs. Believing she had only knocked him out, Amelia got up and followed the crowd out the house as the guy’s friends tended to him. She remembered seeing a glow in her eyes but charted that off as a hallucination from the chaos and lack of oxygen. The realization of what actually happened came the next day when Amelia found out the blow to the head had actually killed the guy. Blood was now on her hands and on top of that, his parents had decided to sue her for manslaughter. In order to defend the Berman name, Amelia’s father stepped up as her lawyer and it was through him and testimonies from witnesses at the party that her case was closed as an act of self defense. She thought once the judgment had been ruled, she would be able to move past the whole ordeal. But once again, some things were out of her hands.
Money and status was not the only thing passed down in the Berman family tree. With this wealth came the wolf gene but somewhere in history, the knowledge of their lineage had died out. That meant Amelia was left to figure out this information on her own, the first full moon after she took a life. She was in bed when she suddenly felt like she was on fire. Pain was shooting through her entire body as her bones started to break. She wouldn’t have been surprised if the neighbours had heard the blood curdling screams that followed after. Her parents came rushing into the room but once they caught sight of what was happening, they quickly retreated out of fear and blocked the door to contain the beast inside. Amelia woke up the next morning in the middle of a field, her memories of the night previous missing and blood coating her front. Terrified and confused, she made her way home, hoping she would find some answers there. What she found instead were her belongings littering the front lawn and her parents screaming obscenities at the demon inside her through the locked front door. Amelia tried pleading with her parents to let her in, but they told her that as long as there was a demon inside her, she was no daughter of theirs.
With no answers and now disowned, Mia decided she would have to find her answers elsewhere. She cashed out all her cards before her parents could cancelled them and fit the essentials she would need inside one backpack. Mia went from having everything she wanted in the world to living off the clothes on her back. It was a new world for her but slowly, she started to learn a little more from the people like her that she would encounter. They were far and few in between and a hard adjustment to make, one she never really got the hang of. Eventually, she learned about a possible wolf pack in New Orleans and Mia was hitchhiking her way there. She was in Tennessee when another full moon had hit. Distancing herself from any cities or towns, she was preparing herself for the transformation when a man named Jon had found her. He didn’t seem scared, in fact he seemed to know what she was and he offered to help her. Mia agreed, fully trusting the man when he chained her in the basement of his home in the middle of nowhere. She woke the next morning expecting to be able to thank him for the help only to find that she was still chained. Calling out for him, there was no answer for hours and her attempts to break the chains had failed. Jon came down eventually but only to throw food at her feet and inject her with wolfsbane.
Years went by and the basement was her new home. What little sun she got came through a single boarded up window, she was fed close to nothing, and received daily injections of wolfsbane to keep her weak. In the time she spent in the basement, she learned that Jon had come from a family of hunters but he had gotten bored with killing. He was psychotic and instead, he wanted to make the supernatural suffer. They were his playthings and Mia was just his latest toy. Jon wasn’t alone, his brother Gavin would also tend to Mia. But he was different; where Jon would abuse her in whichever way he pleased, Gavin would care for her. He would sneak her some extra food when it was his turn to feed her and tend to the spots where Jon would hurt her. He was never truly innocent in what Jon was doing but he certainly treated her much more like a human. One night, Gavin had snuck into the basement with the bag she had run off with all those years ago. He began freeing her from her chains all while whispering things of a sweet getaway. For the first time in a long time, Mia was feeling hopeful. The two crept out of the house, hand in hand as they darted across the empty field, guided only by the moonlight of the crescent moon. The feeling of the nights breeze and the taste of fresh air on her lips, freedom was hers when a gunshot went off the hand holding hers slipped away. She watched as Gavin’s body hit the ground and Jon took aim at her in the distance. Without hesitation, she ran and didn’t stop running. Breaking into a forest in hopes of losing him, branches snapped at her skin causing her to bleeding. It was only once she reached the bright glow of a city that she stopped. She mourned momentarily for the man she left behind, a man who loved and saved her. But she had to keep moving forward and using the money Gavin packed in the bag, she bought a ticket for the first bus to New Orleans.
Present
Arriving in New Orleans, she found that the city was bustling with supernatural activity and it didn’t take long for her to find the wolf pack she had begun her journey searching for. The change was abrupt and overwhelming, it caused her to be very hesitant to just about everything in the beginning. But she was able to grow out of it in the eighteen months she was there. She was welcomed to the pack with open arms and they tried to help her understand everything there was to know, not just about being a wolf and what that meant but about other supernatural beings as well. It meant a lot to Mia, having that kind of support system and that feeling of family, but she never clicked with the wolf side of her. Truth be told, she hated it, she dreaded the full moon and being forced to turn. This is why she eventually ended up in Mystic Falls, when some of the pack members told her about the hybrids created by the infamous Klaus Mikaelson and what they were capable of. But it was the whispers of the cure that really drove her there. She’s been in Mystic Falls for six month now but has spent that time adjusting to the town as she wasn’t looking to make any impulsive moves just yet.
Connections
Hayley Marshall, Klaus Mikaelson, & the hybrids
Hayley was the first hybrid she met, thankful for Hayley helping her out in New Orleans. Through her and others, she learned of Klaus and his hybrids, curious to speak to the latter since she’s intimidated by the stories of Klaus.
Spencer Pryor
She met Spencer randomly when she was passing through New Orleans and Mia felt relaxed around her presence. They kept in touch and since having moved to Mystic Falls, Spencer showed her around and even gave her a job at the Hellmouth.
Scarlett Lynch
After encountering the wolf moments before they had both turned the night of a full moon, Mia sought her out the next day. The pair quickly bonded over their struggles and their past. Since then, Mia’s felt she could trust the other.
Aila King
Meeting wolves has always been a main priority for Mia, so of course when she met Aila she weaseled her way into the girls life as much as she could wanting to stay close to any wolves in town and the curiosity that came from learning of the ring she possessed.
Tomas Valentine
The first vampire she met, at least the first one she was fully aware of. Mia wanted to know what it was like, being a vampire but eventually the two became friends so she was happy to reunite with him and work alongside him at the Hellmouth.
