Maxie's non-romantic aligned brain is showing finally & I apologize heavily for Yua's loss.

Blink. Blink. Maxie seemed a little... what? Bewildered? She wasn't exactly sure what to make of that kiss. She neither directly blushed, nor pulled away sharply, eyes though surely widened in their surprise. Not that she didn't know what a kiss was, of course she did. Perhaps it was just odd to her to get kissed by someone currently under the effects of a poison & fresh from a rescue.
"Your welcome." Though, Maxie's not going to completely dismiss the action, even still managing to maintain her smile. High emotions & paralytics can make people do & say some odd things.
With her head bent down, Yua stretched her neck as best she could, pressing her lips to the other's cheek, leaving a small mark of gloss behind as she pulled back. "I know you said I didn't need to, but thank you all the same." Giving her a smile before ducking her face to hide her red cheeks
She couldn't believe she actually did that

"This is one way to remind you of that I guess." At least Yua was safe in the end, that was the important part. No lives lost, & no harm to the ecosystem in having to put down a monster that didn't really need to die. It just need a punch in the face.
And eyebrow goes up at the request, but Maxie does as asked, Lowering her head as best she could.
"I don't normally touch things like that, I know better, which is why I'm so confused..." Sighing as she leaned her head back, trying to not let the gentle rocking of the seikret trotting along. Suddenly a thought came through her head, as a way to thank her. "Can you... bend your face down a little please?"

It certainly threw her off. She's come to expect a bit of blandness with the place, the more she saw, the more outlandish it got, but this seemed... a bit closer to home. A place of old vintage works, almost like the room she was rewarded at home, no not as in the room she had in the Hunter's Guild's HQ, but her motherland, the New World.

"... Are...you sure?" There's a sting of disbelief. Eyes drifting around the room, admiring it's look, the details. It really felt like home. While Duchess emitted a clicking purr of curiosity. "This seems... I don't know... kinda fancy for someone who crashed through your window."
"Mmm, it can be a trait of many people... from many locales..." He commented. Such an answer will come up eventually... and as much as he would try and suppress it... the truth will indeed come out.... he was keeping all his thoughts to the back of his head just to ensure his composure did not even falter in the tiniest of fractions. ...
Up a few stairs, a hallway maybe, and they soon ended up in this room. It looked... far too homely, to be in what was clearly a large scale industrial building. And yet in here, the noise outside was so very quiet, you could barely hear it at all! It had a vintage kind of feel to it, comfortable beds, a window looking outside, certainly in a different direction to the window she came in. A few drawers, with who knows what in such. It didn't look like it was supposed to be here... or was here in the first place.
"You can stay here, until you have fully recovered."

"Yeah, thankfully it's one of the only temnocerans that nest in the forest." A bit of tactical talk there with calling it by it's class name, but she can't help it. Personally, Maxie found the Lala Barina an impressive creature, but that can be talked saved for when Yua isn't still reeling from being captured by one.
"Don't worry about it." Maxie smiled, assuring her safety. "I'm a hunter, saving people is part of what I do. Just be careful around any bright red flowers when you wonder out, alright?"
"O...oh." She remembered seeing something red before she passed out. "I don't remember if i touched it or not, I don't think I did, but that doesn't mean I didn't accidentally brush up against one... it... it's a spider isn't it?" Shuddering at the thought that she had been spun up in it's nest, eyes wide as she looked back up. "Thank... Thank you for saving me."

"It'll be like that for a bit, but I can take you back to base & get you an antidote & a better place to lay down. You'll be okay." For the time being, Yua will have to deal leading against making on Duchess like this.
"You probably brushed against a Lala Barina floret, it's a bright red collection of spun silk-hairs that looks like a flower at first glance. It carries the paralytic on it, & depending on the Barina, just touching it can incapacitate a grown adult. The monster scooped you up & spun you up in it's nest once you were out, but I managed to come pull you out before anything could happen."
"Like I've been run over, but a paralytic? That explains why I can't move... and why my throat hurts so much." Since she was essentially forcing herself to speak through the effect. Her limbs felt heavy, but the pain was staring to settle in the places that she could feel. "What happened?"

Ears were kept peeled from the Monster's cries that slowly disappeared behind her. A hunter's hearing was a bit sharper then a normal persons, most certainly so for Maxie, so when she could no longer hear those roars, she felt safe enough to pull her seikret's reign a little, bringing the pervious fast pace running to a more collected walk. She didn't want to stop completely, she wanted to return to base camp, but also didn't need to make Yua any more uncomfortable as she slowly came off of the floret's effect.
"Hit? I don't think so, but you've definitely been exposed to a paralytic poison, it will probably keep you from moving for a while. How are you feeling?"
"Okay." Voice still quiet, and then scared when she couldn't move her arms that well. Not wanting to panic too badly she forced herself to breathe. hopefully Maxie would explain when they stopped moving. Looking down she could see the arm around her waist, but couldn't really feel it, some pressure sure, but if she hadn't looked down she wouldn't have known.
"Did something hit me?"

"Easy." One hand let her hold the reigns of her steed, the other held onto Yua, if she could even feel the presence of hand around her waist with the paralic poison still in her system. Still, until they were a safer distance, Maxie didn't feel comfortable having Duchess slow down yet, & thus, didn't feel comfortable letting Yua go. She could still hear that Lala Barina in her ears. "It's okay, I got you now. Just hold tight for a minute."
She had been looking at a red flower like object, it was the last thing she remembered before her world went dark. Groaning as she came too, eyes opening slowly, being bounced as she looked up… where she was leaning against Maxie’s chest. “What… what happened. Where am I?” Her voice was soft, and her throat hurt like she had been screaming for hours, though she couldn’t know for sure without knowing what happened. Looking up as she tried to orient herself, though she couldn’t move much as she was still on a moving mount, that was moving very fast

Sets down a young lady for Maxie to save from a big ass spider

This was most certainly NOT the usual prey for a temnoceran, & Maxie is very glad she listened to her gut to investigate the nest, & so was Alma. While the handle wasn't aware of the who, all she needed to know was a person was tied up in the Lala Barina's web against the far wall, covered in the red silk strings; that was enough to authorize all necessary action. As it was unlikely the monster would so willing surrender it's catch.
Maxie on the other hand recognized that face, even in the slumber brought from the floret's paralysis, so this had more of a personal grudge for her, one to be settled with her bow. Just enough so to created a needed opening. The screeching of the Lala Barina, furiously ringing within it's nest to defend it's territory, legs & craws high to rip apart the hunter. But Maxie's speed cheats the beast, sliding under it's claw as it swings to strike, & with it released two arrows to fly from her bow, logging themselves into the right side in it's underside, just beside it's right legs. Such is done again, dodging it's lunges a few more times to stick arrows under it's left legs.
Both instances bring it to cry in pain. And it would cry out once again as Maxie folded up the metal of her hunter's bow, & swung it more akin to a hammer, striking the side of the monster's head with speed & power that forced it onto it's side, & then it's back. Leg's kicking in the air, making it cry out more as the arrow stuck near it's limbs dug deeper into it's body, rippling pain into it that made it hesitate to stand upright.
That's it. That's the opening.
She moved quickly, bow finding it's place on her back as she abandoned the hunt to go for Yua. Pushing her way through the silk strings that served as protection. The string breaking as Maxie pushed through them, eventually getting up to her & reaching for her. using the talons on her gauntlet's the rip away at the red cocoon that imprisoned her & pulling her into her arm.
Yua now in hand, & the Lala Barina still stuck kicking on the floor, Maxie wasted little time running back, passing the roaring spider as quickly as her legs would allow, moving quickly out of the nest where Duchess waited for her master.

"Lower! Quick, we're going!" Fast orders left the hunter, & her seikret followed suit, lowering her body, allowing Maxie to swiftly hop herself onto the steed's back, & adjust herself & Yua's position to allow her to hold onto Duchess's reigns while's Yua sat on the seikret with her body resting against Maxie's front.
Once more, a piercing roar emanated from the nest, loud, aggressive, agitated, & perhaps meaning the monster hand finally regained it's footing.
And to which, Maxie didn't hesitate to flick Duchess's reigns, making the seiket take off into the Scarlet Forest. Away from the Lala Barina nest, & away from the monster who just had it's prey stolen out from under it

The sounds of the red water below her flowing breaks some of the chatter of the forest, the bristle of the trees in the wild, the birdsong echoing in the air. Thankfully, all is normal it seemed, not even Duchess stirs, maintain a steady stride in her steps across the green. Deep blues scan across the environment, she sensed nothing out of order, but a ken eyes was still needed. Alma was not fair behind, her own seikret but a pace behind Maxie's, eyes dratting around for any abnormalities within the environment.
"Nothing unusual yet." The comment came loosely from the hunter's mouth, casually, showing how little her hunter's instinct seemed to pick up on. Allowing the handler to be fully at ease. The scarlet babbling brook went on, small, non-threatening monsters continued their business in the forest, the ecosystem was alive & well as always.
Until, everything went silent.
Safe for the wind against the trees & red water streaming over, all of nature's activity seemed to cease for a moment, even the seikret's strides seemed to reach a crawl. Caseous.
"What's happening?" Alma's voice came soft, as if speaking too loudly would spring something upon them. A feeling Maxie shared, as instead of a verbal response, she shrugged her shoulders instead while looking back to her handler; volume now officially a concern. Though neither of them said it, they knew they had to press forward, hands now tightly gripped into the reigns of their seikrets in the event something jumped out at them, their eyes fiercely scanned the area around them as their riders slowly moved forward.
No sign or sound of a monster stalking them, but Maxie's eyes did spot something unusual, something that could have been easily missed if they weren't already on high alert.
"Wait." Maxie motioned with a hand stop, gently pulling on Duchess's reign to get her to come to a halt as well. From there, the hunter leaned over slightly, bringing herself closer to a brush of bushes near the forest floor. Low to the ground, it looked like a berry bush, but atop it sat the most unusual spot of red. A swirl of deep, silk-like hairs, that at first glance, & even up close, at the appearance of a flower. An incredibly deceiving appearance, as Maxie knew this was no flower.
"Alma, there's a Lala Barina floret here." The info fell from the hunter's lips, making the handler angle herself on her seikret to try & obverse the floret Maxie had spotted. She would reach to hold it up, but she was in no position to chance having the paralytic poison being of the strong variety, one touch could have her outcold if such was the case.
"A lala barina..." When it was thought about, it made since, the water of the Scarlet forest only became this deep shade of red when that monster was present, spinning it's vibrant red string silk in a worthy nest. "We're in it's territory then for certain, it's nest is likely not far."
"I don't sense it near..." Once more, deep blue eyes dratted at their surroundings, her heighted senses still remained on alert, yet she sensed no presence. It put her more on edge, her mind rattling for an answer.
"What if it's not here." Alma piped up, eyes now more focused to Maxie. "What if it already snatched it's prey? Remember how quickly one took Eric?"
The realization did cross the hunter's face, remember that encounter with their first Lala Barina. How quickly Eric disappeared & how silent the forest became afterward in response. "He was gone in an instant." She deeply disliked how quickly that monster had managed to steal that handler away, even if that was the result of his own eccentric behavior. "We should check it's nest, just to be sure." Something in her gut told her to double check, & if it was nothing then usual prey, it was better safe then sorry.
A chill ran down Alma's back at the memory of Eric disappearing so quickly, so with Maxie's suggestion, just to double check, she couldn't say no. There was no harm in making sure what was taken from the forest wasn't anything abnormal for a temnoceran. "Right."
