I'm going to list muses here and you can request any of them for a small starter. Multis give me an idea / concept preferrably. If they have a link attached to them, it is either because they have crossover verses, or I have a bio for them.
Muses available are: - Sebastian Winters (OC) - verses - Gilgamesh one. / two. / three. , Achilles one. / two. , Robin Hood, Romani - Renji, Ichigo, Kon ( the other bleach ones are available with discussion I'm just tentative ) - Kakashi, Naruto & Shikamaru - Kai Hiwatari / Yuriy Ivanov - Ling Yao / Roy Mustang / Maes Hughes - Hei / BK201 - Zuko - Mu Qing / Shi Qingxuan / Qi Rong
#ooc. [ keep moving forward / starter call. ]#( i'm thinking these will be a para / 2 para tops to start off with )#( unless inspo hits )#( and my other drafts will get chipped away at or removed as I think I'm due a clean up by now )

chapter 13 | read on ao3
1914
well this is life in colour
today feels like no other
“Hello, Riza,” Gracia Hughes greeted warmly, hugging the host tightly after stepping into her home. “How have you been?”.
“I’ve been well, Gracia. Thank you for asking. What about yourself?”
“The same,” she smiled, glancing down at her daughter, who had just tugged on her hand to get her mother’s attention.
“Mummy?” Elicia asked. “Where’s Mia?”
Riza smiled at Hughes' daughter, and Gracia smiled at her eagerness.
“She’s inside, Elicia,” Riza revealed, crouching to her level. “Let me take your jacket and you can go in and see her if you like? She’s in the living room with Uncle Roy.”
Shortly after her birth, Maes and Gracia had asked Roy and Riza if they’d like to be the godparents of Elicia. They both readily accepted and returned the favour with Mia. The titles of aunt and uncle came along shortly after that, and it stuck.
At that piece of information, Elicia’s eyes lit up and she grinned. “Okay!”
“Aunt Rebecca is already in there too,” Riza announced as she eased Elicia’s coat gently off her shoulders. Elicia’s eyes lit up even more. She was a big fan of Rebecca.
“Yay!” she clapped happily.
“I love this jacket, Elicia. It’s very beautiful.” She beamed at her Aunt Riza.
“I picked it out myself. I like the flowers on it!” she exclaimed.
“You have very good taste.”
Elicia’s eyes positively sparkled, and her cheeks turned a light shade of pink in her pride.
“Head on through, Honey,” Riza gestured. “They’re just in there.”
Elicia was a very confident child, not much phased her, however she tentatively walked to the living room and peeked through the door to see who was there waiting for her. When she spotted Roy, her posture straightened, and that confidence returned.
“Uncle Roy!” she cried happily, running into the room.
“Thank you for inviting us,” Gracia added once Riza had straightened to stand.
“Thank you for coming. I appreciate it, especially after having to reschedule.”
The Elric brothers were out of town for longer than anticipated and then Roy and Riza had to move to Central, so the dinner party she’d arranged with Maes was quickly forgotten about and put on the back burner until they were settled.
“Of course,” Gracia announced. “I wouldn’t miss tonight for the world,” she smiled warmly. “I brought some wine for the three ladies,” Gracia announced.
Just then, Maes opened the front door and entered the hallway, shivering from the cool spring air outside, but sighing in relief from the sudden warmth.
“It’s getting warmer out there, so that’s something!” Maes hugged his arms tight to his body to warm himself before shrugging out of his jacket. “Riza!” he cried with a grin, enveloping her in a tight hug. “How are you?”
“I’m well, Maes,” she smiled. “And thank you for the gift, Gracia. I really appreciate it… but, I won’t be able to drink it tonight, unfortunately. It will just be you and Rebecca on the wine tonight,” Riza revealed, her eyes sparkling as she watched the two of them furrow their brows. Gracia was the one who reached the conclusion first, but Maes was not long after her.
“Are you pregnant, Riza Mustang?” Gracia gasped. Riza nodded vigorously. “Oh, my goodness. Congratulations!” Riza was enveloped in another tight hug by Gracia. Maes joined in as well and the three of them embraced happily in Riza’s hallway.
“Another bun in the oven, huh?” Maes asked, kissing Riza’s cheek. “Congrats! Where’s Roy?”
“In the living room,” Riza told him.
Without another word, Maes entered and shook his hand. Riza watched as Roy stood and Maes pulled him into a tight hug. Roy smiled, clapping his back in thanks.
“I’ll take this out of your way then,” Gracia announced, placing the bottle of wine back in the bag she’d brought with her. “We can save it for after the baby is born. How about that?” she grinned.
“I would love that. Thank you.”
“Would you like any help in the kitchen?” Gracia offered.
“No thank you, I’m all right. Make yourself at home,” Riza offered, showing her through to their living room where the excited chatter continued now that Maes was in on the secret that she was pregnant.
There was another knock at the door, followed by hushed voices, so Gracia excused herself as Riza approached the door.
“Brother, stop fidgeting,” a rather metallic sounding voice stated sharply.
“I’m not, Al,” another replied. They both sounded so young.
“You are, I’m watching you do it. There’s nothing to be nervous about.”
“I’m not nervous,” the boy spat.
“It’s just the Colonel,” a female voice replied, her voice hushed.
“I know who it is, Winry,” the boy grumbled. “And I’m not nervous!”
Riza opened the door and was slightly taken aback when a large metal suit of armour filled her vision. The metallic voice gasped as the door opened, promptly straightening in posture as he saw Riza. That must be Alphonse. Next to him stood a small teenager. His long bangs covered his forehead, dropping down towards his eyes. Matching his fringe, was a long braid that extended down his back. Edward. The girl though, Riza didn't know. Her long blonde hair was gently brushed to the side in the spring breeze. In her hands she clutched a basket with a cover over it, and from the door Riza could faintly smell cooked apples.
She’d learned about everything that had happened with Edward and Alphonse Elric. Edward was wearing a red jacket and gloves, but Riza caught a glimpse of his automail underneath the cloth. She knew Alphonse was a soul bonded to this suit of armour before her. Riza was fully aware they’d been the victim of human transmutation, but seeing them both before her now made the news hit home even harder than it had before. Edward still looks so young. It was a horrifying thought, and Riza’s heart sank a little. They’d been even younger than they were now when they performed the taboo.
Ever since she’d discovered what had happened to them, Riza just wanted to give them both a hug. Roy had told her his plan to keep what they did a secret in exchange for Edward’s loyalty to his cause, but he also revealed that he would hate it if the top brass ever found out what happened to them. Alphonse would be taken away and studied while they tried to figure out how it was possible. Edward would be kept under close watch and wouldn’t have as much freedom to go out and travel the country to find out what happened to them both. Roy liked to gripe about how much of a headache Edward gave him, but she knew he cared for the two boys, and Riza couldn’t think of a better person to look out for them both. She was glad they had Roy’s support behind them.
Pushing down her strong maternal instinct for the moment, Riza smiled at the trio warmly. “Hello Edward, Alphonse. Come in,” she beckoned. Stepping aside, they both entered her home.
Despite the hushed conversation she’d heard before opening the door, Edward did look rather nervous, but he stepped forward and inside the house. Alphonse ducked carefully and stepped inside, filling her hallway, but managed to clear the ceiling with enough room to move comfortably.
“Good evening, Mrs. Mustang,” Alphonse greeted.
“Hello…” Edward greeted, unsure on how to proceed. It felt like he wanted to say something, then stopped himself. “Mrs. Mustang,” he finished sheepishly. Riza smiled at him, appreciative of his manners. Obviously, it would take some time for them to get used to it.
“I do apologise,” Riza added as the girl entered after them. “But I don’t believe we’ve met before. Roy didn’t mention your friend here,” Riza announced kindly.
“My name is Winry,” she replied. “It’s lovely to meet you, Mrs. Mustang.” She shifted from foot to foot for a moment. “And sorry for turning up unannounced,” she fretted. “Mr. Hughes said it would be all right,” she explained.
Riza waved away her concerns. “The more the merrier,” she replied. There was more than enough food to go around as well, so an extra guest was no problem for Riza. “It’s a pleasure to meet the three of you,” she greeted. “And please, Riza is fine,” she insisted. “Everyone is in the living room just now.” Riza directed them to the correct door. “Would you like a drink?”
“Just water, please,” Edward replied.
“The same for me,” Winry requested politely.
“N – Nothing for me please, Mrs. Mus – I mean, Riza,” Alphonse stuttered.
“It’s all right, Alphonse,” she soothed him. “Roy told me what happened to you both.” Edward’s spine straightened, his face was stricken. “I’m sorry I don’t have anything to offer you instead.”
“That’s – That’s okay, Mrs. Mustang. Um, I – I mean we – would really appreciate it if…” Alphonse trailed off.
“If you didn’t say anything,” Edward finished. His eyebrow twitched in irritation. Given his relationship with Roy, something told Riza that Edward was annoyed at him for letting their secret slip.
“Don’t worry, boys,” Riza reassured them. “I’ve known about you two since before you got your automail, Edward.” The pair of them shared a look. “I’ve hoped for a while that I’d be able to meet you someday. How are you both? Are you all right?”
They shared another look. They were surprised by her concern, but her maternal instinct wouldn’t rest. At every mention of those boys, Riza couldn’t help but think about her own daughter, and how she couldn’t bear the thought if something like that happened to Mia.
“We’re… okay. Thank you.” Edward seemed genuinely surprised and his thanks were sincere.
“If there’s anything you need, just let me know,” Riza smiled, showing them the way into their living room. They were greeted warmly by her other guests and Riza left them to it, entering their kitchen.
“I brought something along with me,” Winry announced shyly as Edward and Alphonse entered to speak to the other guests. “I baked an apple pie.”
“Oh, Winry. Thank you so much. I thought something smelled delicious. Would you like to bring it through?”
Winry nodded and followed her to the kitchen.
“Just put it wherever you find a space,” Riza told her. “I can’t wait to dig in.”
“Thank you. I hope it’s all right. Edward loves it, but I think he’s a little biased.” She chuckled, her cheeks turning slightly pink. Riza smiled knowingly, recognising that look.
“I’m sure it will be perfect.”
“Would you like a hand with cooking?” Winry offered.
“I’ll be fine, but thank you for your offer. Go through and enjoy the company. I’ve got things handled in here.”
“Okay, thank you, Mrs. Must - I mean Riza.”
* * *
Riza busied herself with cooking dinner, oblivious to what was happening in the rest of her house. She heard laughter in the background as she worked, and it made her smile. She was pleased everyone was getting along. Growing up, she’d never had a house as warm of this. She never thought she ever would. To hear such happiness emanate from her living room as all her guests enjoyed themselves made her heart warmer than any fire could.
Well, except maybe Roy’s. He always managed to make her feel safe, loved, and happy. To this day she couldn’t believe her luck. The attractive, brilliant, and overall incredible Roy Mustang had fallen in love with sad, lonely, and plain Riza. Sometimes she’d wondered if it had been out of pity, especially after they were first married.
Her father had asked Roy to take care of her on his deathbed. That request still bewildered Riza because Berthold had never shown love or care to her after her mother's death. It was as if he’d forgotten about Riza completely. Riza wondered if it was out of guilt, but didn’t hold out much hope for that reasoning. He probably only wanted Roy to protect her body, not her as a person. After all, she’d been turned into her father’s own personal notebook. The research on her back was more important than Riza.
Being the gentleman he was, Roy had asked Riza to marry him. Riza had often thought it was only because he’d felt it was his duty, but she hadn’t wanted to tie him down like that. So, she questioned everything, because how could she be loved so much by him? It had to be an act. It had to be. He was young, and did the thing he thought was right. In the first few weeks Riza had been waiting for him to come to his senses and leave her, realising he’d made a mistake tying himself to her so young. Her father had drilled it into her that she was useless every day. How could someone so useless be loved by him? Slowly, Roy had chipped away at her walls and broken them down. Riza couldn’t remember the last time she’d felt so happy in her childhood.
Then, the bomb was dropped when he’d been called up to serve in Ishval. She’d been loved and cherished for six months, then he’d been roughly pulled away from her. He was going off to war. He could have been killed. Coupled with the hormones from her pregnancy, Riza had spent many days, not just nights, sitting in a depressive state, tears tracking down her cheeks. That was when she was at her lowest.
Rebecca dragged her out of that somewhat. She was taken on days out. They went shopping for Mia together to prepare for her birth. These trips led to lunches out or teas in coffee shops. Before Riza knew it, it was time for dinner. Rebecca invited her around to her apartment for dinner more often than not. Riza had been too tired from their busy days to make it home. Sometimes Rebecca drove her back to her cold, lonely apartment, but Riza always preferred sleeping at Rebecca’s. It helped to have some company.
“Hello,” Roy greeted as he kissed her temple, wrapping his arms around her waist from behind. He broke her from her ruminations, but Riza wasn’t going to complain about his more than welcome affections.
“Hello, you,” Riza smiled, looking over the timings on the recipe sheet in front of her. She set the kitchen timer for twenty minutes then relaxed against Roy’s chest. The last thing was being cooked and in twenty minutes, the food would be ready to serve. This was the first time she’d ever hosted a meal and was slightly nervous. She just wanted everything to go well.
“How are you doing?” His arms slipped from around her waist while Riza turned in his grasp. They settled on her waist as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
“I’m fine.” She was a little bit tired, but not enough to put her off hosting for the night.
“Let me know if you need any help, okay?”
“I will Roy, don’t worry.” She kissed him softly. The grip on her waist tightened in response. “Everything is fine through here. What about through there?” she nodded towards the living room.
“Surprisingly, Edward Elric is good with kids.”
“He’s a kid himself. Why wouldn’t he be?”
“Because he has a terrible attitude that stinks to high heaven?”
Riza scoffed. “Only to you. He was perfectly polite when I met him.”
Roy grumbled under his breath, a scowl forming on his face.
“Maybe if you weren’t so hard on him, he would be nicer to you.”
“I have been nice,” Roy stated defensively. “I gave them the freedom they needed, didn’t I?”
“Followed by a smug look and a snarky comment, no doubt,” Riza teased.
Roy’s scowl deepened but Riza just laughed at him. She pulled away, moving away to cut the last of the carrots.
“Go back to entertaining our guests,” she dismissed him with an amused tone. “And try not to make Edward throttle you.”
Roy snorted. “I can’t make that promise,” he muttered.
Riza entered their living room with an amused smile. Laughter made its way through to her and she wondered what was so funny. Roy was scowling at Hughes – what was new there – while everyone was laughing, most likely at Roy’s expense.
“And then he was knocked flat on his ass,” Maes stated loudly before guffawing, while Rebecca joined in with him. Edward was cackling away while Alphonse’s laugh was slightly nervous, like he felt he probably shouldn’t be laughing. Gracia just smiled, but her attention was on her daughter and Mia. Riza’s heart melted at the sight of Winry sitting on the floor, Elicia in her lap, and Mia by her side as they played with Hayate.
Mia wasn’t laughing, though. Elicia was giggling because everyone else was, but Mia’s face fell as she looked up at her father, then around at everyone in the room. Riza watched as she climbed to her feet, rushing over to Roy.
“That’s okay, Daddy,” Mia reassured him. She wrapped her arms around a surprised Roy’s neck. “You’ll always be my hero,” Riza heard her whisper in his ear. It was spoken quiet enough that the rest of them didn’t hear over their laughter, but Riza was standing behind the couch Roy was sitting on, so she heard every word.
Roy wrapped his arms tightly around Mia. “Thank you, Mia Bear,” he whispered.
“Dinner is served, everyone,” Riza announced. Eagerly, their guests made their way to their dining room. Riza hung back and waited for Roy and Mia. He’d hoisted her into his arms and was carrying her through on his hip, rather than walking with Mia by his side. Hayate walked dutifully by their side, looking up at Mia as they walked.
The whole night was a hit. The drinks flowed and all the food was gone by the end of the night. Most of them went back for seconds, stating it was too good to only have one serving. Riza thanked them sincerely, touched. On the inside she was beaming with pride.
“I told you Riza was an amazing cook,” Roy announced, kissing her cheek. She turned pink at the compliment and went back to eating Winry’s apple pie without saying a word.
“Her cooking is to die for,” Rebecca announced, helping herself to a third plate, unashamed.
“Riza, my dear, you’re an absolutely wonderful cook, however no one holds a candle to my Gracia,” Maes winked. “Sorry.”
“Winry’s apple pie is great too,” Alphonse piped up. “Edward tells me its the best he’s ever tasted.”
Riza watched, trying to hide her laugh as Edward’s face turned scarlet and Winry’s cheeks were dusted pink.
Edward coughed in response. “Yeah, it is,” he muttered quietly in response. “It’s really great.”
“Let’s not compare and contrast,” Gracia announced, keeping the peace. “The meal was wonderful, Riza. Thank you so much.”
A chorus of thank yous sounded around the table.
Riza noticed Alphonse was writing in a notebook under the table. Not wishing to embarrass him, she kept it quiet, but Mia noticed, to her chagrin.
“What are you writing, Alphonse?” she asked, eyes wide and curious.
“Oh! Um…” He sounded embarrassed. Riza opened her mouth to tell Mia to leave her questions for now, but Alphonse continued anyway. “It’s a journal I like to keep.”
“What’s in it?”
“Mia? Let’s leave questions for later, okay?” Riza told her gently.
“It’s okay, Mrs. Mus – I mean Riza,” Alphonse piped up. “Um, it’s a journal of all the food I’m going to eat when… I feel better.”
Mia was too young to understand that Alphonse had lost his entire body and Riza appreciated the teen stating he wasn’t eating because he didn't feel well, rather than revealing he had no mouth. Mia took it in her stride and nodded without further questioning.
“Brother tells me all the things that are particularly delicious, and I take a note of them in here, so I remember to try them when I get my body back,” Alphonse elaborated.
The table awed at his kind statement. Riza felt tears welling inside her eyes. Alphonse was incredibly sweet for saying it, and she was touched.
Roy squeezed her knee in comfort. “That’s lovely of you to say, Alphonse,” Roy told him.
“Yes,” Riza stuttered, taking a deep breath to calm herself. “Thank you so much.”
“You’re welcome,” Alphonse stated happily. “We’ll make sure to come back so I can try your food. If that’s all right, of course?”
Roy grinned and patted her knee again under the table.
“That would be lovely,” she smiled, blinking furiously. “Thank you.”
* * *
“Um, Mrs. Mustang?” a nervous voice asked as Riza washed the dishes in the sink.
Turning, she saw Winry standing in the doorway.
“Hello, Winry. Is everything all right?”
She nodded. “Sorry, it just didn’t feel right to leave you to clean up by yourself.”
Riza chuckled. “That’s not a problem, Winry. You’re our guest. I wouldn’t ask you to wash dishes with me anyway.”
“Would you mind if I helped?”
“If you insist,” Riza smiled, handing her a dish towel. “I wouldn’t mind the company either.”
“I…” She trailed off, biting her lip as she took the towel from Riza’s outstretched hand.
Riza paused for a second, expectantly. Winry obviously wanted to ask her something, but couldn’t quite form the words.
“Take your time, Winry,” Riza reassured her as she continued in her task. Soap suds were up to her elbows as she made her way through the mountain of plates they’d used at dinner.
“I’m sorry,” she apologised. “I just wanted to ask you something.”
“Go ahead. I’m all ears.”
“Do you… worry about the Colonel a lot?”
“All the time,” Riza replied simply.
Winry nodded and Riza saw her swallow. “How do you deal with it?” Her voice was extremely quiet as she wiped the water off the plate and gently placed it on the counter.
Riza paused, cocking her head in thought. She wouldn’t lie to the girl and say it was easy, because sometimes it wasn’t.
“He’s in a position of power, and in the military. He could be called out to war at any moment, but I think I would worry about him all the time regardless of that fact.”
“What do you mean?”
“I love him,” Riza elaborated. “And when you love someone so much, you worry about them regardless of where they are in their life. Are they happy? Are they healthy? Are they doing okay? I feel the same way about Mia as well. I just want my family to be cared for and happy, so focus on that.”
Winry nodded, picking up another plate. She was silent as she absorbed Riza’s words. The two worked together quietly as Riza waited for Winry to move the conversation further.
“It’s hard,” the young girl whispered.
“I know,” Riza replied sympathetically.
“I… Sometimes I don’t even know where they are. The last I hear from them, they’re in East City, then a few days later they show up at my door, broken.” The plate hit the countertop harder than Winry intended, and the teen jumped. “I’m so sorry,” she stammered.
“Winry, it’s okay. Why don’t we have a seat?” Riza suggested gently. This was obviously not a conversation to be held over washing dishes.
Letting out a breath, Winry nodded in agreement.
In that same moment, Riza caught Roy walking through with two empty glasses in his hands. He opened his mouth to talk, but stopped when he saw Riza’s urgent glare. Behind Winry’s back, Riza motioned for him to stop and leave. Mouth parted in surprise, he spun on his heel and left the two of them alone.
“You worry about them a lot, don’t you?” Riza prompted once they were settled at the dining table.
Winry nodded. “They’re my best friends,” she whispered. “I don’t want to lose them.”
Riza could more than sympathise with that.
“I don’t want to wake up one day and… find out they won’t be coming home.”
“I understand completely. I’m the same with Roy.” Riza eyed Winry carefully for a moment. “You love them, don’t you?”
Her face turned bright pink. “I - I - They’re my friends,” she stuttered.
Riza knew better. There was a deeper connection between the three of them. Perhaps it stemmed from what the brothers went through. Winry had revealed over dinner that she was an automail mechanic, and being Edward’s oldest friend it didn’t take Riza long to connect the dots. Winry had been the one to attach Edward’s automail. She’d seen him and Alphonse through their traumatic past and recovery.
“It’s never been easy,” Riza began, leaning forward with her elbows on her knees. “Especially with Roy in the military. I won’t lie and say it has been a breeze, because I do worry every time he leaves for work. However, I trust him. Even though I can’t be with him to make sure he’s all right, I trust him to look out for himself and I know that he has a solid team behind him. So do Edward and Alphonse. Remember that.”
“I’ll try… but…”
“It’s easier said than done, I know that. Do you feel helpless every time you see them struggling?” Winry’s head lifted, expression perking up. “Do you want to help, but don’t know how?”
“Yes,” she breathed earnestly. She looked delighted to have found someone who understood her.
“You gave Edward the ability to walk again, Winry,” Riza stated, sitting back in her chair with a smile. “You’ve helped them so much already.”
“You’re right,” she mumbled to herself.
“Even if you feel helpless, you just being there will help them,” Riza continued. “They might not thank you. They might not even think to. However, they will appreciate it and one day, they’ll realise how big a help you were to them.”
“Is that what you do for the Colonel?”
“I’ll always be there for him when he needs me. You might need to give them some time, but they’ll come when they need you. You just need to tell them that.”
“Right,” Winry nodded, determination in her voice.
“Sorry to interrupt, Lladies,” Roy announced quietly and sheepishly as he crept around the door. “Catalina is demanding more wine.” He shot Riza an apologetic look as he entered with the same two glasses. “And she’s right, Winry. I don’t know what I would do without her,” Roy grinned at his wife.
Riza snorted. “He can be so hopeless sometimes,” she whispered loudly to the teen. “It’s a wonder how he even gets by in life,” she winked.
Winry’s eyes widened considerably. Then she giggled. “I often think the same about Ed,” she admitted. “I’m glad he has Al beside him at least. That gives me some comfort at least.”
They laughed together then Roy took his leave. In passing he paused before Riza, pecking her cheek.
“Mia is asking for her Mama,” he announced. “She says she misses you.”
Winry let out an aw as Riza chuckled. “We won’t be long.”
Roy pecked her cheek then left the room with two glasses of wine.
Riza opened her mouth to suggest joining the rest of them, but she paused. Winry was fidgeting in her chair and it looked like she had some more questions for Riza.
“Did you ever think about following him?” she asked suddenly.
“I did,” Riza revealed. “Once.”
“If you don’t mind me asking, of course,” Winry gushed as an afterthought.
“You want to know why I didn’t?”
Winry nodded.
“Roy works towards making the world a better place and protecting the two brothers. He’s got a good team I trust to keep him on track. However, there’s someone I have to protect too. I have Mia,” she replied, then a slow smile spread across Riza’s face. “And another one on the way too.” She cupped her stomach gently, unable to stop the smile from spreading.
“Are you pregnant?” Winry asked.
Riza nodded. “Roy and I have another one on the way.”
“Oh, congratulations!” Winry cried excitedly.
“Thank you, Winry.”
“Thank you for this talk, Mrs. Mustang,” Winry breathed. She let out a long breath and Riza saw her shoulders sagging in relief, like a weight had been lifted.
“Anytime Winry,” she smiled fondly. “And it’s Riza, please.”
“Okay, Riza.” Winry’s grin was bright.
“And I mean it. If you ever need anything or want to chat, just give me a call.”
“I will, thank you!”
“Even if it’s to complain about how dumb the men in our lives are,” Riza winked. She laughed as Winry’s face turned scarlet and she coughed, but she still thanked Riza with a shy smile on her face.

Without a doubt Endeavor wins. Honestly, Todoroki family drama is the only reason I got through the manga and I love his development so much. As you can see in this list I think that fire is hot, redemption is hot as well and I suddenly choose older dudes as favourite characters?...
2. Kimetsu no Yaiba
Oh, this one is hard. They all are such a cuties!!! You see, I love Yushiro, Kanao, Shinobu and Tamayo very much... But if I really had to choose...
Shinobu Koucho is an outstanding woman. Gotouge ended up creating extremely beautiful characters aesthetically but he also made Shinobu who is one of the most complex character design with her whole smiling personality being nothing but facade. She is extremely smart and is treated fairly in the manga.
3. Shingeki no Kyojin
I choose Keith Shadis. He may be a very side character and he is in no way special but his story made me identify with him a lot. It opened a lot of deep philosophical questions too. Even now when manga is ending I am cheering for my man.His chapter - “Bystander” - is one of my favourites in whole manga
4. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Roy Mustang is the dream husband of my teenage years. Honestly, Arakawa's writing made me fall in love with her story so badly that I rewatched FMA at least 3 times and rank it №1 anime... And also I ship Royai, yes
5. Dr Stone
Somehow I love Yuzuriha so much! Ahe is so gentle and caring, it just unbelievable that such sweet kind of a person can exist. And in addition to this she is extremely smart making the right decisions and playing double agent [I am anime only]
6. Kakegurui
Tbh my fave was Rin but they mess him up at the end of season 2... So Midari yeah, I love them crazy girls with depression. Like and reblog if you would play Russian roulette with her [I am anime only]
7. Yuri on Ice
I watched that anime long ago but somehow Otabek took a piece of my heart. He was so distant from everyone and yet he saved Yurio from fangirls fufu
8. Star vs the Forces of Evil
In this house we stan character growth and redemption arc so Tom Lucitor. That bitch really did 180″ turn on his life. Also he looks cool. I mean he is a fucking half-demon how can you not love him.
9. Avatar the last Airbender
Zuko ZUKO ZUKO. I used to ship him with Katara as a kiddo, probably my first ship... Also yes, if you have been attentive you can notice that I love fire-power dudes....
10. Steven Universe
When I watched the show [for some reason I stopped after season 5 finale] I really liked Pearl and related to her in some ways...maybe it was something about perfectionism or her crash that made me love her so much

Some Incomplete Ramblings on “Liza / Riza Hawkeye”
One thing I’ve always found fascinating about FMA character / location names is that it’s like a game of telephone from European languages --> Japanese --> (in my case) English. As is such, with telephone, information has the potential to get distorted.
I own lots of FMA guidebooks in English and Japanese, and frequently entertain myself with the name variations. Liore / Leole / Reole / etc. is one of the most entertaining spelling conundrums, official sources constantly varying the name, and never honing in on a consensus over the many years’ passings. But while I could yab on about Martel and Ling and Dolcetto and Kimblee and many other names, I’m here to smile about Riza Hawkeye.
Official sources in English and Japanese almost exclusively spell her name as “Riza Hawkeye.” Over and over, it’s Riza Hawkeye. Compared to many characters, her name’s very consistent. But in some of the earliest materials from the franchise, she’s sometimes labeled as “Liza Hawkeye.” For instance, there’s an early Bandai figure with that name - a figure that would have been developed (and its label created) through Japan.
The English version of the Fullmetal Alchemist Trading Card game sometimes calls her Liza, too. Because I’m a linguist who (as my career probably implies) loves Little Language Things... I had to nab a few FMA trading cards with that variant name! I don’t collect cards, but these were irresistible! These cards came in my mail yesterday!!! Tadaaaa!
It’s hard to see in the photograph, but these cards are copyright 2005. I’ve tried to find more information on when in 2005 they were printed (no success yet), but the date 2005 is interesting. This isn’t long after the first anime’s English dub began premiering in the USA starting November 2004.
These cards may also have preceded the first official English manga publications. The manga received two official printings in English, one by Viz Media in the USA and one by Chuang Yi in Singapore. Viz Media published Vol. 1′s First Edition in May 2005; Chuang Yi was November 2005. I doubt there’d be any coordination between different companies in different parts of the world creating cards and manga and anime. Different name interpretations were far more likely to happen with FMA being turned into English for the first times. There was no established precedent for how-to-spell-what. As everyone in 2005 was working through their stuff independently or semi-independently, they were giving our girl a different first name.
Now, Riza’s name had been published in the Roman alphabet as “Riza Hawkeye” earlier than when my cards came out. The Japanese company Bandai (that gave us the Liza Hawkeye figure)... also gave us a 2003 card calling her “Riza Hawkeye.” That is, within the same company within a short amount of time, they printed two different spellings of a character’s name. There’s another card set, from 2004, that lists her as “Riza Hawkeye” as well.
After FMA’s nascent years, Hawkeye’s Roman-spelled name quickly became solidified as “Riza.” Almost all “Liza” materials I’ve seen are 2005 or earlier. The latest material I’ve seen listed as “Liza” is a card with a copyright of 2007.
The English release of the two most important FMA franchise materials - the manga and the anime - would have solidified Hawkeye’s first name as “Riza.” On September 17, 2005, Riza’s full name was stated on screen for the first time in the English airdate... as “First Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye.” This was in Ep. 27 “Teacher.”
Viz Media worked alongside all this. Viz Media published both the English anime book materials (like Fullmetal Alchemist Anime Profiles, printed in English in 2006) and the manga itself. I believe the first time Riza’s first name was given in the manga was Chapter 24, when Riza introduced herself to Winry. Viz Media printed Vol. 6 (which contains Ch. 24) in February 2006. By this point, for English-speaking fans (especially in the Western Hemisphere), all major FMA materials would have called her “Riza.”
I imagine that by then, that now-iconic name would have been foolish to change. One of the most popular characters was branded firmly as “Riza” by the start of 2006. Couldn’t change that now. Unlike the earliest merchandise, now everything about Riza - both English and Japanese materials - called her Riza. All my Japanese guidebooks that never got English translations call her “Riza.” (And these are guidebooks that continue to have Roman alphabet spelling variations between other characters - even when all published in the same year). None variation left beef for Riza. I want to buy the Perfect Guidebooks, which are older than all the guidebooks I currently own, and see what they say for her name... but for now... everything I’m holding that’s in Japanese is post-2006 and all say “Riza” when they print her name in Roman letters.
I don’t know what Arakawa intended, especially as the earliest Japanese merchandise gives us both Riza and Liza. If the earliest merchandise all said one name, we could have guessed that Arakawa gave the approval. But that’s not the case. The names vary in early Japanese Bandai merch. Nor can we trust major English translated sources as hints of Arakawa’s intentions. It doesn’t seem like they asked Arakawa for explanation on everyone’s intended names. Viz doesn’t provide a good representation on what Arakawa wanted, given as they messed up majorly on other names and are only correcting them NOW, in 2018 and 2019, in their Fullmetal Edition of the manga (in the trade paperbacks, they called Kyle Halling “Khayal,” spelled Kimblee’s name two different ways, wrote “Isvharlan” in Vol. 2, gave the country’s name as “Ishbal” above drawings from the manga that wrote “Ishval,” misinterpreted Xerxes as “Cselkcess,” and lots of other fun oddities...).
And while some names get written in English in the manga artwork proper, I’ve only seen Hawkeye’s last name.
I know far from everything. There’s still lots I have to check. Don’t take my word as law.
THAT SAID.
From the information I know... I find it fascinating it’s VERY possible Arakawa’s initial inspiration was “Liza Hawkeye.” NOT Riza. There’s in fact good linguistic reason to suppose this.
For people who aren’t familiar with Japanese typography / orthography, the Japanese writing system is composed of kanji and kana. Kanji are characters with semantic complexity to them; the kanji are usually included in a word for meaning-related reasons, but the pronunciation of the kanji can vary depending upon whether the word it contextually represents is a native Japanese word, a Chinese loan word, the first or second kanji in a compound, etc. Kana, unlike kanji, are basically read the same way every time. Instead of being symbols depicting semantic content, kana depict pronunciation content. Kana are written in a syllabary system. A syllabary is like an alphabet except that every symbol represents a syllable you pronounce (or, in Japanese, a mora). Japanese kana are two sets of syllabaries, the hiragana and katakana. Katakana is used to spell recently adopted loan words.
Because FMA characters’ names are (almost) all taken from European names, their names are written in katakana. But because Japanese is a different language than European languages, it has different sounds in it. This means that, when European loan words get imported into Japanese, pronunciation changes happen. The pronunciations allowed in European languages are altered into acceptable sound structures Japanese allows - its phonetics and phonology and phonotactics.
Now, Arakawa doesn’t always spell European words “typically” for katakana. Japanese has over the last few decades adopted many English loanwords. For instance, there’s a loan word for “mustang,” which is 「 ムスタング 」. Roughly, ム = mu, ス = su, タ = ta, ン = n, and グ = gu. So, the Japanese word for “mustang” is musutangu. Arakawa actually gives Colonel Mustang a different spelling than that - he’s masutangu 「 マスタング 」.
Perhaps this was because Arakawa saw the name “Mustang” in Roman letters and did her own import into kana. In the process of her changing “Mustang” from Roman letters to katakana, she might have chosen “ma” instead of “mu”. Perhaps this was because she thought this would make his name sound cooler, look unique, or make her metaphoric name more subtle. Or, perhaps this arose in foresight with the eventual “Madame Christmas” wordplay (“Christmas” in Japanese is 「 クリスマス」kurisumasu, which makes her full name kurisu masutangu - get how that works perfectly?). Whatever the reason(s), we know that Arakawa’s katakana spelling of imported European words isn’t always what Japanese’s loan word katakana spelling officially does.
Riza’s name in the Japanese could be another instance of this.
To explain what I mean, let’s take a look at my graphic:
Each line is a name in Roman letters (acceptable in English) with its corresponding Japanese spelling. In parentheses is a rough pronunciation of how that katakana’s pronounced.
First: There are indications that Riza’s full given name is Elizabeth. Some fans say it’s just her code name, akin to how “Jaqueline” is Havoc’s code name. It’s true we hear Roy call her “Elizabeth” in that code name setting. However, it’s also interesting that he calls her “Elizabeth” when he’s visiting Madame Christmas. In his home environment, where he’s dropping his walls and being far more honest and open to family, where he’s even blabbing about being romantically interested in Hawkeye OUT LOUD, he calls her “Elizabeth.” You could argue that it might be another instance of intentional code naming to protect her identity, but it’s still very interesting that this is a second, different, emotionally open, trusting context in which Roy names her “Elizabeth.”
Linguistically, her name seems derived from “Elizabeth,” too. Again: while spellings and pronunciations are slightly altered when Arakawa imports European names into Japanese, she’s still taking those names from a European source. But I don’t know of a common Western European name that’s essentially Riza. Go to baby names websites. You don’t get a long list of female names that are Riza, especially not in Western Europe, where Arakawa took most names. Where’d she get this?
A shortening of “Elizabeth” is likely.
Look at Line #1 of my graphic. I have the word “Elizabeth” in Roman letters alongside the katakana spelling of “Elizabeth.”
That first line is how “Elizabeth” is usually spelled in Japanese writing. It’s 「エリザベス」. エ = e, リ = ri, ザ = za, ベ = be, and ス = su. So the Japanese version of “Elizabeth” is more or less erizabesu. Note that the same symbol 「リ」is used for both r+i and l+i. This could be a long linguistics explanation in itself, but more or less: Japanese doesn’t have separate “r” and “l” sounds. They have one sound that’s like an “r.” But, it has pronunciation variation based upon dialect, and, within a single dialect, where said “r” is placed in relation to other sounds surrounding it. The “r” can make lots of sounds (allophones), including what English speakers would call an “l.” So when imported words from European languages which have separate r and l sounds (phonemes), these r’s and l’s get reduced in Japanese into one thing, interpreted as that single “r” sound their language has.
Now, let’s go to Line #2. A common nickname for “Elizabeth” is “Liza.” Notice the spelling. Elizabeth contains the actual, unaltered spelling of Liza. However, pronunciation changes occur. The “i” in “Elizabeth” is a different sound than the “i” in “Liza.” The spelling’s the same between full name and nickname; the first vowel just sounds different.
The Japanese katakana spelling of “Liza” is based upon the pronunciation. NOT the spelling! See my visual. The way “Liza” is spelled in Japanese is 「ライザ」- that is, raiza. ラ = ra, イ = i, and ザ = za. As a result, the name “Elizabeth” in katakana does not contain the unaltered spelling of “Liza” inside it.
Note, however, that the name **RIZA** is DIRECTLY spelled inside the Japanese spelling of “Elizabeth.” 「エリザベス」 contains 「リザ」. That is, erizabesu can be truncated to riza without any spelling changes!
That’s what we see in Line #3. Note that, in red, I have highlighted where the spellings stay the same within full name and nickname.
Ergo, “Riza” is directly derived from “Elizabeth” in the katakana spelling of “Elizabeth.” That’s indirect indication that, when Arakawa was giving Riza her name, she was looking at “Elizabeth.”
In which case, “Liza” WOULD be a correct reading for Hawkeye’s first name.
Similar to the Chris Mustang thing I mentioned, making a spelling change for an “Elizabeth” nickname makes sense in Japanese. Japanese readers might not be familiar that “Liza” is a nickname for “Elizabeth.” The fact that raiza for “Liza” is spelled very different in Japanese kana compared to erizabesu for “Elizabeth” ...would make it hard to connect the dots between the two names. But giving the spelling riza makes the connection easier-to-see: for them, in katakana, they can see riza spelled inside erizabesu. Just like, in English, we can see “Liza” directly inside “Elizabeth.”
So, from what I know, I postulate that Arakawa initially envisioned “Liza Hawkeye.” It all makes linguistic sense, and the fact that early FMA merchandise from Japan sometimes uses “Liza” only helps my case. That they sometimes also called her “Riza” is a common phenomenon of Japanese publications not knowing when to make something an R and when to make something an L. I mean, in the Death Note anime, you see someone’s name listed as “Rally” instead of “Larry.” The L/R confusion is common and appears commonly in officially released Japanese materials.
I mentioned at the start of this ramble that translating names multiple times is like a game of telephone. Thus far, it seems like we went from Liza --> リザ. Then, when North American native English speakers got the Japanese 「リザ」, they had to figure out what to do with it. Because the character’s name was spelled 「リザ」 - NOT the standard「ライザ」 Japanese use to spell “Liza” - then translators wouldn’t have thought this was an intended “Elizabeth” nickname. It doesn’t help that Roy doesn’t call Riza “Elizabeth” as code until several volumes after we’re given riza (Ch. 37 Vol. 9, I believe). So, translators were left with a really oddly spelled, indeterminate name... something that could have been spelled “Leeza” or “Reeza” or “Riza” or “Leaza” or who-knows-what. But “Liza” would have, to them, seemed like a phonetically poor choice - English readers would see “Liza” and pronounce it very differently from how the Japanese would pronounce 「リザ」. If Arakawa had intended “Liza,” she would have spelled it markedly differently, right? So “Liza” would have been an unintuitive translation option for Japanese --> English translators. On the other hand, English readers would see “Riza” and pronounce it close to how the character’s name was spelled in Japanese. So even though “Riza” isn’t a normal Western European name, that’s what seemed to make sense. Ergo, “Riza” became the “intuitive” choice for translators, and that’s what they put.
It’s not unfeasible that this “Riza” choice was made independently with several groups of people - the manga translators and the English dub script workers, namely. “Riza” seems the most default “sensible” choice. And once both Viz Media and Funimation Entertainment gave English consumers, consistently, “Riza” - well that was that! It probably influenced Japanese publishers with their next materials. It would have influenced all other English products. Thus, henceforth, Japanese or English origin, we’d only see her name as “Riza”.
Don’t take this as a flawless or conclusive analysis. Opening the Perfect Guidebooks, after I buy them, might tweak or solidify some of my thoughts. There’s many materials, other merchandise, I haven’t seen the packaging to, or seen inside of, or know what year it was made. I might not have accurately remembered / researched the first instances in which names were given across the animes, manga, etc. I don’t know hoards about the Trading Card game. I’m not fluent in Japanese, just a beginner. I’m a linguist but academically I spent little time with Japanese in my studies and research. I definitely can’t mind read Arakawa. Other fans may know more(?). This is meant as a happy ramble of thoughts, not a conclusion. And I wrote this overnight instead of getting sleep. Because this is a wise use of time, right?
I will always call her “Riza.” The name fits her. It’s a unique name. It’s a cool name. I think it sounds better than “Liza Hawkeye.” I grew up with “Riza.” I’m attached to Riza.
But I find it so fascinating to acknowledge and study the background of when she was labeled “Liza.”
I’m quite happy to be hold cards from 2005 - in my hand - that label her such.

Feel free to hate me for this, but everything for Blazblue. I imagine you rb'd it for a reason?
i rb’d it cause i am Always Salty and it looked interesting tbh
What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?
taorag cause tao is baby
ragna/rachel cause rachel looks 12 and people are into it sexually + she treats him like garbage and its one sided
kagunoel is creepy
bang/litchi is weird cause bang is not really equipped for that kinda relationship with her esp cause of the stuff with roy and she wouldnt like. get over him that easily
kokonoe/kagura also cause like. “a woman wants to speak to you” “IS SHE HOT” kokonoe: hi kagura: never mind speaks for itself + so does “pay attention to who youre talking to before laying down your game” or whatever to that effect kokonoe says when she beats him even if its noncanon some win quotes are at least vaguely accurate sometimes
kaguhibi is Hm cause a) they might be related and b) hibiki only tolerates kagura
ragjin and ragnu and celirag and ragnoel etc etc etc cause theyre related you nasties
basically mori has a cast of 32+ (excluding mu izayoi and the kids) characters and barely anything is shippable and CERTAINLY not anything m/f cause its either weird or theres no chemistry
Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?
makoto/kagura if thats even popular. she doesnt really like him like that anymore like she is Tired of him romantically
Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?
not that i can remember but probably. i dont think ive ever followed any ragjins besides like. one. but if anyone it would be a ragjin
Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?
ragna/rachel, ragjin, ragnu, and kagunoel are all equally all horrible to me
Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?
i dont think so
Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?
uhhh i think not. i never really ship much and nobody really convinces me to ship anything. i either am indifferent or dont like it unless i ship it already
Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?
how people baby hibiki as if hes not a grown ass man and also an assassin and also reduce ragna purely to anger and being stupid when he’s actually fairly intelligent (ive literally been told i wrote him too smart) and emotionally complex
Have you received anon hate? What about?
MY PALETTES FOR SOME REASON?
Most disliked character(s)? Why?
rachel cause shes just kinda garbage pedobait, plat for the same reason but to a lesser degree cause she at least doesnt say weird ACTUAL BDSM SHIT but i can actually like. tolerate her unlike rachel. nu for ever conceivable reason possible. terumi is just a bastard man im legally obligated to hate him. susan is incredibly overrated
Most disliked arc? Why?
MU BEING SEPARATE FROM NOEL IN CF THAT WAS SO DUMB NOEL LITERALLY JUST ACCEPTED MU AS PART OF HERSELF AND NOW SHES SCARED OF THE POWER SHE JUST RECLAIMED TO PROTECT HER FRIENDS? FUCK OUTTA HERE WITH THAT. also everyone losing their memories in the embryo to cause unnecessary conflict AND everyone wanting to kill noel to cause even more unnecessary conflict cause mori obviously wouldnt let his fuckin waifu die so the tension is dead from the start
Is there an unpopular character you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?
people tend to think celica and noel are really annoying i guess and like. idk i like them
Is there an unpopular arc that you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?
fsr people hate celica being the sister that raised ragna and co but like. it doesnt bother me. i dont care about celirag. its weird to me cause thats his mom and nobodys gonna change my opinion on that tbh
Unpopular opinion about XXX character?
plat and mu could really wear more clothes honestly
Unpopular opinion about your fandom?
it is GARBAGE. at least the eng fandom is. i know this opinion is shared by my friends but like. im sure it isnt by the freakos who draw porn of rachel so like. yeah
Unpopular opinion about the manga/show?
translate your fucking novels mori and also the anime sucks
If you could change anything in the show, what would you change?
i know this is like. not made for games but in the anime id change that weird scene that totally deviates from canon where ragna agrees to destroy everything with nu or whatever? garbage. id also change nu being alive in cf cause she doesnt need to be and it wouldnt affect ragnas lifelink cause they didnt die at the same time so shed just be in the boundary cause like. im sure he’s almost died before when he was fighting and she wasnt smelted yet PLUS people keep pulling her soul out of the boundary like its nothing so. yeah. also the scene where ragna goes black beast for no reason just so the embryo has a purpose. i would change a lot
Instead of XYZ happening, I would have made ABC happen…
instead of brotherly paradise getting TWO EXTENSIONS id extend the gag reel where kokonoe and relius bodyswap people instead of ragna deciding to save nu which makes little sense i would simply make him agree with hakumen and let him beat her to death. rip to mori and his waifus but im different
Does not shipping something ‘popular’ mean you’re in denial and/or biased?
not necessarily some ships just fuckin suck lmao
What is the one thing you hate most about your fandom?
the fixation on the female anatomy in the game and fandom is so tiring. esp transphobic jokes about mai
What is the purest ship in the fandom?
tsubaki/noel/makoto tbh
What are your thoughts on crack ships?
i jokingly brought up kagura/mustang fma so like. fuckin go for it its all in good fun
Popular character you hate?
SUSAN
Unpopular character you love?
kagura.....................
Would you recommend XXX to a friend? Why or why not?
yes because im fixated on it but no because its a mess u feel
How would you end XXX/Would you change the ending of XXX?
RAGNA DOESN’T DIE AND NU DOESN’T LIVE
Most shippable character?
kagura is the bi-est. makoto is a close second i think
Least shippable character?
rachel looks 12 and people want her to fuck. kokorach is the only valid ship cause theyre both old and tired of everyone so they can bitch about everyone together

Dear Rule 63 Author
Hi! Thank you for writing for me! I’m reconditarmonia here and on AO3. I have anon messaging off, but, er, I can answer any questions you might have about my requests in my mod capacity if you contact the exchange email ;).
Fullmetal Alchemist | Hadestown| Machineries of Empire | Moby Dick | Sleep No More | Spinning Silver | Wolf 359
General likes:
– Relationships that aren’t built on romance or attraction. They can be romantic or sexual as well, but my favorite ships are all ones where it would still be interesting or compelling if the romantic component never materialized.
– Loyalty kink! Trust, affectionate or loving use of titles, gestures of loyalty, replacing one’s situational or ethical judgment with someone else’s, risking oneself (physically or otherwise) for someone else, not doing so on their orders. Can be commander-subordinate or comrades-in-arms.
– Heists, or other stories where there’s a lot of planning and then we see how the plan goes.
– Femslash, complicated or intense relationships between women, and female-centric gen. Women doing “male” stuff (possibly while crossdressing).
– Stories whose emotional climax or resolution isn’t the sex scene, if there is one.
– Uniforms/costumes/clothing.
– Stories, history, and performance. What gets told and how, what doesn’t get told or written down, behavior in a society where everyone’s consuming media and aware of its tropes, how people create their personas and script their own lines.
Smut Likes: clothing, uniforms, sexual tension, breasts, manual sex, cunnilingus, grinding, informal d/s elements, intensity.
General DNW: rape/dubcon, torture, other creative gore; unrequested AUs, including “same setting, different rules” AUs such as soulmates/soulbonds; PWP; food sex; embarrassment; focus on pregnancy; Christmas/Christian themes; infidelity; unrequested polyamory; focus on unrequested canon or non-canon ships; unrequested trans versions of characters; swapping female characters to male; unequal levels of investment in the relationship (including concerns about same that turn out to be unwarranted), or the idea of a character accepting something they're unhappy with as the most they're going to get.
A note: if we matched on an / ship, I generally don't require you to include a kiss, sex, or overt romantic language if you feel that you'd have to shoehorn it in. I'll trust that you wrote it with shippy intent.
About Rule 63 Exchange specifically: I have no strong preference for character names, with a slight preference for sticking with their canon names; it’s up to you whether you want to justify any resulting names that would be unusual for women or just gloss over it. As far as characters’ personalities and gender expression are concerned, I tend to want to see them as similar to their canon selves, just female. I’m probably fine with unrequested characters also being swapped to female, but feel free to check if you’re not sure. I don't expect, nor particularly want, a big deal made over characters' strong gender identity qua identity as female or whatnot.
It's a little confusing to tell with the AO3 interface, but I've requested General Audiences on everything, and additionally Explicit on FMA, Hadestown, Machineries, Sleep No More, and Wolf 359.

Fandom: Fullmetal Alchemist
Ship(s): F!Roy Mustang/Riza Hawkeye
I love Roy and Riza's loyalty kink in canon so very much, so...what if they were lesbians
There are definitely some worldbuilding-y places this could go - the Amestrian military obviously has female soldiers in it, but not as many as male, especially at the higher echelons, apparently, and we don't see any female State Alchemists; does Roy's status as a powerful alchemist also vault her into a position of command and influence that most women, barring Olivier, don't get to? With regard specifically to how their relationship is different worldbuilding-wise, some kind of document or documents (newspaper, history book) or other outsider perspective on President Mustang and her decades-long professional relationship with Riza Hawkeye, so close they even live together/travel together/entertain guests together, neither of them ever married, that sort of thing? Is Roy's obfuscating public image in this AU still about going with a lot of women, or are they men? (butch or otherwise known lesbian Roy is great, but also not necessary)
But I'd be equally happy to see a fic that didn't deal with that, and that was just canon dynamics but more so and with lesbians. I love their trust and competence and stoically hidden but very very intense feelings, the willingness to risk oneself or the other person, or to stake a lot on the other person’s competence (and willingness to hurt or sacrifice the other person because their shared cause says it’s right, too, all the times that comes up), the fighting together in tandem. Is there a dangerous mission (or intelligence-collecting situation) where their deep familiarity/trust/awareness of each other’s presence and fighting style and communication come into play (god, that bit in canon where Hawkeye shoots two guys right over Mustang’s shoulder), or where they worry about each other’s safety? I love the "protect my back" exchange so, so much (I'm particularly interested in fics set during a time when that is already part of their relationship history, rather than fics set in Ishval or shortly after, and I am not really interested in fics set when they were children or young adults at all) and the way that, eventually, ends up playing out with regard to Envy. I love the intimacy of their work relationship and personal history, on levels from casual to very intense, and would love it with sexual tension in how they notice and appreciate each other’s physicality and presence and competence (hands??? muscles?) Pining up to 11, or resolved sexual tension? (I would prefer Riza as dom if you write a d/s take on this.)
Fandom-Specific DNW: framing of the Ishvalan genocide as a bad situation that happened to the Amestrian characters; canon-typical loss of body parts.

Fandom: Hadestown
Ship(s): F!Orpheus/Eurydice
There are a lot of things I like about making Orpheus a lesbian. (Can be butch, maybe passing as a man, doesn't have to be.) I like how much it emphasizes how much on the margins she and Eurydice are and their love is, how lucky they were to find each other (and how much stronger their joy in the spring and in their community is, when they have it), I like that it undermines the show's unnecessarily relentless heteronormativity (c'mon, you could have told an Orpheus story without Orpheus appealing to Hades on the basis of them both being straight men specifically; the archetypal "Boy" and "Girl" one-of-each thing that the libretto does). I like having this musician who's determined to single-handedly bring down not only the economic system but also, uh, climate change, with music - to save her partner/wife, or to save everyone who's screwed over - be a lesbian.
I'd really love anything about them. I feel like some of my likes are already prompts, but I'm definitely also interested in an expansion of them getting together. Trusting Orpheus is already a leap for Eurydice - is it harder for her in this world when it's not a socially sanctioned relationship, or is it easier because she's finally getting something she wants and doesn't just need in order to economically survive? I'd love first-time fic for them - maybe this Orpheus isn't used to being desired, and maybe there are ways this is new for Eurydice too. (to be clear, I'm fine with bi!Eurydice too, this doesn't have to be a "first time Eurydice gets to have the kind of sex she wants" thing even if it's a "first time with a woman" thing) If she is passing as a man, how does that affect her whole desperate journey to rescue Eurydice (an expansion of the journey summed up in "Wait for Me" could be cool); does that get revealed/are Hades and Persephone able to see through it because they're gods?
Fandom-Specific DNW Exception: I'm explicitly okaying references to previous non-consensual sexual experiences, whether during Eurydice's experience as a sex worker or otherwise, or to Hades Hades-ing, if that comes up. I'd still like the requested ship to be consensual.

Ship(s): F!Shuos Jedao/Ajewen Cheris; F!Shuos Jedao & Ajewen Cheris
I know sound like a broken record throughout this signup, but I love Cheris and Jedao’s friendship and loyalty kink (“Now and forever, I’m your gun” and the kneeling! aaahhh!) and, you know, what if that, but also Jedao were a hot woman.
I don’t have a lot of specific plot prompts - just a general interest in intense feelings, “codependency” as understood by fandom, loyalty and trust holding up under strain, deferring to someone’s competence or sense of ethics even though you don’t know how it will turn out, making difficult choices, verbal or nonverbal displays of loyalty like the kneeling and swearing and the WHOLE KEL GLOVE THING. I’d be excited to read something set during the Ninefox timeframe when Jedao is in Cheris’s head, but I think I would be most interested in something set post-Glass Cannon when oh my god, they were roommates telepathically bonded, after all the plot events that create that strong Jedao->Cheris loyalty. Jedao’s canonical kinks are *thumbs up* (I’ve requested general audiences fic as well as explicit, so it’s also fine if they don’t come up or if they’re referred to but not, er, acted out onscreen).
Fandom-Specific DNW: I’m aware that there’s a lot of torture and dubcon in canon. I don’t mind if you mention that they exist but I’d like to reiterate that I absolutely do not want any onscreen, or any details of torture even mentioned. DNW (explicitly) male Kujen or Ruo in this AU; if you don’t feel like swapping them to women I would rather they not be mentioned.

Ship(s): F!Captain Ahab & None; F!Captain Ahab & F!Pequod Crew; F!Ishmael/F!Queequeg
I'd love to know more about these female sailor(s) and what drives them. A female Ishmael might still decide to sign on to a ship whenever she gets the blues, but it'd be socially fairly different, mightn't it? (Worldbuilding-wise, I'd be more interested in a world where sailing and whaling are still typically male things as in our world, even if you make them a little less exclusively male, than an egalitarian or matriarchal world; something that women might do, without necessarily disguising themselves as men, but a GNC thing to do.) Would her already diverging from the "expected" female path in this regard affect her reception of Queequeg as someone who's an outsider to Nantucket society, and the intimacy she offers? What does she still find outlandish? As for Queequeg herself, is her life a typical female life for her home culture, or not?
As for Ahab - just imagine this fanatic, tragic, vengeful character as a woman - with the willpower not only to do all the things canonical male Ahab does but also in a society where women aren't really supposed to sail or kill or lead! Is she the odd one out in an otherwise male crew, or are there more women in the crew by the time she's captain? Was she already a whaler when she lost the leg or, in this AU, did this drive her to become one?
I love pastiche for this, if you're interested.

Fandom: Sleep No More
Ship(s): F!Speakeasy Bartender/Hecate
Speakeasy was played by a woman when I last visited, which INSTANTLY, massively raised my interest in the character. (It feels like a bit of a fever dream in itself, I don't know how frequent that casting is! Apparently the role was played by a woman for at least part of the Boston run, but on the other hand, people that I mentioned the current casting to thought I must have been mistaken because it's a male role.) The character's easy confidence and utter mastery of their domain, combined with that animal devotion to Hecate, are very cool and sexy when the person in the waistcoat and the sleeve garters is a bald butch woman with tattoos, apparently. I loved seeing this fairly small and wiry woman get to do those fighty dances (the one with Fulton!!) and the lifts with Bald Witch.
So - what's her story? Were her GNC presentation or sexuality a factor in her getting involved in the underground booze business and/or Hecate's service, and how do they affect her dealings with people now? Did she do small magic before becoming Hecate's familiar, or did that come after? (How does it work to be or to have a human familiar? How/why did Hecate choose this?) How do they think about each other - is Speakeasy in love with Hecate, or is sex just one of the ways Hecate controls her? And what does Hecate think about her human pet? Does she like having Speakeasy's devotion and service? (THE VIAL OF TEARS SCENE asdsjhasjkhd)
Fandom-Specific DNW Exception: dubcon is fine for this, as is "unequal levels of investment in a relationship" as long as no one is under any impression, in that event, that it is equal and Speakeasy isn't upset by that.

Fandom: Spinning Silver
Ship(s): Miryem Mandelstam/F!Staryk Lord
I love Miryem, and I’m so interested in the ways that making the Staryk Lord a woman would change Miryem’s entry into the Staryk world and the romance that eventually develops between them. Maybe same-sex marriage is common among the Staryk, and that’s one of the customs that are new and unfamiliar to Miryem in this new world. Would this be a Miryem who had never imagined being attracted to a woman before but comes to fall for the Staryk Lady, or one who simply couldn’t have imagined being able to marry one and have that be a normal life? (For values of “normal” that include ice lands and gold magic!) How does the fact of the marriage being same-sex affect Miryem’s initial understanding of it as a business arrangement, or for that matter, affect her understanding of the offer of queenship as a marriage at all? What makes them fall for each other?
Canon Miryem wonders what her role as queen is, thinking that she’d know about managing a household and having children and sewing if she were married to a human lord - is it the same if she has a fairy wife instead of a fairy husband, more so because there’s not even the hope of a gendered complementarian aspect to fall back on, less so because the Staryk Lady is there as an example of what a female monarch in the Staryk lands does? Does Miryem try to be more like her, or to find her own accounting-powers-and-personal-bonds niche?
It’s so important to canon Miryem to have a Jewish wedding with the Staryk Lord - what would that look like here? What happens when she comes back to the human world not only the queen of a magic country, but married to a woman (and in love with her, depending on when you set it)?

Fandom: Wolf 359
Ship(s): F!Daniel Jacobi/F!Warren Kepler, F!Daniel Jacobi/F!Warren Kepler/Alana Maxwell
The SI-5 trio are my favorites, and I'm absolutely wild about the way they openly value and prioritize and trust each other over everyone else who's nominally on the same side. So much of the Kepler/Jacobi dynamic goes directly to my id almost from their first introduction (of Jacobi as Kepler's "good right hand"!) to Jacobi trusting Kepler with his life and following whatever orders Kepler gives and getting angry about Kepler treating him like one of them, not to mention the weird d/s vibes. But I also love their dynamic with Maxwell, not only Jacobi's devoted friendship for her but also the trust and respect Kepler has for her and vice versa (I love the conversation they have about fixing Hera, and the whole episode where Kepler has Jacobi blow up the door to save Maxwell, at the risk of the whole ship because Maxwell is that valuable and Jacobi is that good, and "maybe you were my friend but the Colonel and Daniel were family"). So...f/f? I'd love to see them on some sort of mission or in the aftermath of some sort of mission where that mutual loyalty, even as fucked-up as it can get, comes into play, with Jacobi, Kepler, and Maxwell deferring to one another's judgment and/or orders, protecting each other or deciding when they can risk each other for the sake of the mission, sorting themselves out after... Or just some d/s-y sex, possessiveness etc. Anything really about how they're the only people to each other. (Pre-canon is great, during is great, canon divergence that allows any of this to happen post-canon is great. I think my actual headcanon headcanon in the show is that it's mutual UST and pining that doesn't go anywhere before or during canon, but I happily read things that are not my headcanon because...I want them to be together.)
I suppose I envision Jacobi and Kepler fairly similar to their canon versions presentation-wise, which would make them somewhat gender non-conforming as women - there's possibly something interesting there with whatever flavor of performative masculinity canon Kepler has going on - but honestly I haven't particularly given much thought to how they might be different as women, other than that I would find it hot and enjoy a three-way relationship with Maxwell (if that is what we matched on/what you're interested in - I'd be just as happy with Kepler/Jacobi and Maxwell just a friend) more than I would with their canon versions.
Fandom-Specific DNW: role reversal or "subbing to let go/relax" Kepler

A mulher desperta.
Haruka é interpretada por Haruna Ikezawa a voz oficial da personagem Athena Asamiya do jogo The King of Fighters.

Fictional favorites tag game! I was tagged by @winged-defender-of-deltora
**pass this on to twenty mutuals (Which I won’t be able to do)
1. What is your MBTI? ISFP but it’s been a while and I don’t even know if I remembered it right...
2. What is your Hogwarts House? Hufflepuff
3. Are you a book person or a TV person? uhhhhhhhhhh..... TV shows I guess? I’m a sucker for good music. Also I can have a tv show on while doing other stuff, not so much with a book
4. What is your favorite book series? Ack. The Protector of the Small Quartet by Tamora Pierce has captured my heart forever but I also love Young Wizards by Diane Duane and the October Daye series by Seanan McGuire.
5. What is your favorite TV series/anime? TV series: Nirvana in Fire/琅琊榜 definitely, a Chinese period drama. The plot is amazing, I love most of the characters (crown prince can leave. please) costumes are too pretty for life and the soundtrack still gives me the feels.
Anime: Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-Kun, probably, or Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. They’re both very different so I can’t compare them. I love FMA for plot, but Gekkan Shoujo is a great comedy.
6. Which fantasy universe would you most like to live in? Emelan from the Circle of Magic books by Tamora Pierce. I wanna have cool magic with something. Maybe painting or something.
7. Favorite character ever: This is hard. Keladry of Mindelan from Protector of the Small is first, but Mu Nihuang from Nirvana in Fire is a close second.
8. Character you would like to personally slap in the face: Shou Tucker. Just... Shou Tucker.
9. Character you would like to personally murder: No idea... I don’t dislike anyone that much, I don’t think... Also haven’t really been into anything recently though.
10. Character you would gladly intern under: uhhhh. Tom and Carl? They seem like they’d be interesting.
11. Character you would totally have tea with: I don’t like tea. But I’d gladly have hot chocolate with Riza Hawkeye. She seems cool. Edit: I would drink tea with Meng from Nirvana in Fire.
12. Character that you feel really needs a hug: Xiao Jingyan from NiF, the poor dude.
13. Character you love that you would probably hate irl: Probably Roy Mustang. I feel like I just wouldn’t be able to get along with him if I met him in person.
14. Character you would realistically be friends with irl: So many people. Kel, Alphonse, Nozaki, Mayafu (oresama teacher), Yuuri, and Quentin (october daye) to name a few. Edit: And Meng!
15. First character you had a crush on (if any): lol Seto Kaiba from Yu-Gi-Oh
16. Favorite ships: I don’t really ship characters that much. Roy/Riza, and Terraqua I guess.
17. Series (TV/book) that you feel ended terribly: I can’t think of anything because i wiped it from my mind.
18. Series (TV/book) that had so much potential but was actually an epic disaster: I completely agree with @winged-defender-of-deltora on Maximum Ride and Warriors. I couldn’t keep up with the latter because there were so MANY BOOKS and Maximum Ride kept dragging on and on. I thought Nevermore was the last book but then Maximum Ride forever came out and I was so confused. It really did read like fanfic after the first 3
19. Worst book/movie/TV show you’ve ever read/seen: Percy Jackson movie was a thing that I watched for a birthday party. Never again.
20. Favorite book from your childhood: Magic Tree House, Secrets of Droon (I loved all of them), Warriors, Saavy, Ruby Holler.
21. 3 Favorite Tropes: Enemies to Friends and I can’t think of anything else off the top of my head.
22. 3 Most Hated Tropes: miscommunication, badly done love triangles
23. Scariest thing you’ve ever watched/read: Can’t think of anything.
24. Anything you’d like to recommend? Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire (Ace protag!), Nirvana in Fire (please join me in tears along with the rest of the fandom), Oresama Teacher (by the same person that did Gekkan Shoujo. The protag is a badass delinquent girl), and Akatsuki no Yona (Slow growth badass princess)
25. Would you like any recommendations? yes, but who knows when I’ll get around to consuming the thing
I’m not going to be able to tag 20 people so: @thesexiestlobster @intergalactic-space-kittens @dubiousculturalartifact @orangememory @songofsunset @subject--omega @novatose if they want to, no pressure to do the thing.
