“Just, just hang on...” // Harmony
ㅤㅤ" I--- I'm sorry-- "
ㅤㅤRecognizing the entrances to these dangerous areas used to be so much easier, underground. Even without relying on her ability to sense the amount of Dark or Light Gaia energy in a person, there was normally a much more recognizable scent around the areas they would frequent. There was no reason for her to have lead the both of them anywhere near the entrance to a Hive. Harmony should never have had to bear witness to what a true Beast was like.
ㅤㅤIt had originally been a fun idea -- a simple exploration further into a cavern that they'd found weeks prior. She hadn't planned to lead her friend too far below the surface, as the deeper they went the less the light would be able to reach them. They'd brought a flashlight with them for emergencies or in case they ended up separated, somehow, but even if Demo's vision was still perfectly adapted to see just fine in these depths, the further down they went, the harder it would be to safely navigate.
ㅤㅤIt had been surprising, at first, just how far down the cavern actually went -- far enough for them to easily reach the depth Demo was willing to lead to, and yet still she could see out into the darkness that it would only just barely start to dip down and close off from the ceiling. The small pools of water that collected in the open area and the stalactites and stalagmites formed a beautiful space. Were it to be made safe for more public access, she was certain others would love to bear witness to it, as well.
ㅤㅤIt was only as she took a singular peek down a hole in the cavern floor, into the would-be drop that lead to more pitch-dark areas that she caught the terrible scent she so recognized -- and realized what was lurking in the darkness uncomfortably close to their location. The sounds of awe that they had been making, each and every gasp and happy comment, their footsteps against the damp ground, even the sudden racing of her heart would be enough for any hunter not so far below them to track upwards to their location.
ㅤㅤShe didn't need further confirmation that it might already be headed for them. Immediately, she'd pushed herself up and away from the hole, running to collect her friend and urgently usher her back out the way they came. The amount of noise they made now didn't matter -- Beasts and other creatures that served Dark Gaia had completely turned away from the light. Knowing how well she could hear, if they so much as sniffed too loudly down here, she's certain it would be able to find them. Their only option was to make it back to the surface before it could reach them.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤOr, at least, that had been the plan.
ㅤㅤIt had been quicker than she'd anticipated. They were at most a mere mile away from the entrance when she'd heard it rapidly approaching from behind. The scrapes and thuds of its mutated hands and feet running from behind had been immediately followed with sudden, agonizing pain as the same claws caught and dug into and began tearing through her flesh. With a cry ripping from her throat, she'd tried to wrestle out of its grasp -- or at least turn to face it for a chance at fighting back. Though the experience was sure to scar the poor girl that had accompanied her down here, it's likely that such a feat only ended up being possible because of the assistance she gave Demo.
ㅤㅤA hunter would not so easily give up on prey, however -- especially when one was already wounded. It's a desperate fight to keep the creature from fatally injuring both of them, one that doesn't end until Demo is able to shove it enough to lose its footing and fall back further down, below. Yet with one final slash of its claws as it fell, it manages to hook into the side of her abdomen -- and were it not for Harmony grabbing and pulling her back, she surely would have been dragged down to met her demise alone, disemboweled and impaled on the stalagmites beside her attacker.
ㅤㅤInstead, trembling in the arms of the one who had tried to save her, it only takes her one look at the wound to know she won't make it out of the caverns. Neither of them had any way to heal her, and even if her wound were given emergency dressing and she were carried, she'd surely bleed out before they could reach someone that could help her. Knowing she had limited time, feelings and regrets begin to surface. When the other begged for her to just hold on, she could only offer her apology.
ㅤㅤ" I'm sorry.. I'm sorry I--I brought you h--here.. I'm--sorry you--you had to fight--but.. But you--you still have to--get out of here.. It's not--it's not safe.. Keep--keep going up, back to--the light.. And don't---please--please don't..don't ever let anyone come b--back down here.. Don't--don't let them..make--my mistake.. "
ㅤㅤIt was selfish of her to ask -- it wasn't Harmony's responsibility. With no one to guard or close off the entrance, however, there were sure to be people that would make their same discovery. And the more noise that was down here, the worse it was going to be. The civilizations underground weren't ready for what awaited them on the surface, but the surface wasn't ready for the horrors that lurked below.
ㅤㅤShe can feel her strength ebbing away, already tear-blurred vision becoming further unfocused, fading into darkness. Weakly, her clawed hand pushes against the younger girl's shoulder -- back, away, and in the direction of the entrance. " Hurry-- Get--get out of..here.. Plea s e... " and whether the girl opted to take the Imp with her or not, her breathing slowed, her heart faltered, and her light died.

synopsis. two fallen ones, cut from the same cloth, destinies forever intertwined by the choices you made as young seraphim.
OR someone comes in to try and ruin your relationship with lucifer, and he isn't happy about it.
You remembered the sensation of an eternal inferno, the mark of damnation that scorched your fingertips, submerging your divine being within a cluster of flames. Exiled from the heavens—a fate worse than death to most became an accepted element of your newfound reality. You never belonged perched atop clouds, even with the virtue nestled in the recesses of your heart. A part of you feared the unknown as you descended through novas and clouds, but it felt like a pressure had lifted from your being as those imposing gates shrunk behind you.
As the first of a cluster of falling stars, your impact landed you on the steaming ground of a new, hellish landscape, your mind scattered from the force of the fall, limbs trembling with their aching joints. And that was when you saw him, a brand-new man who held out his hand, smile desperate yet reassuring. The Morning Star himself, brought upon the same fate, still shaken from the tragedy of his descent—it had been much more personal for him.
“It’ll be okay, (Name),” his familiar voice reassured, but it was impossible not to hear the waver in his tone as your hands intertwined. “It’ll all be okay.”
And with a single touch, traversing hand-in-hand through this foreign land, you knew that someday, he would be right.
But that happened many millennia ago, a tale for storybooks rather than a memory that should’ve constantly been on a loop in your mind, held onto during the dead of lonely, bitter nights. Despite your long-standing friendship, the both of you held very separate lives—him with his family, you with your industry. You worked in tandem in relation to the public and aristocratic duties but otherwise barely spoke past the occasional smile and wave. And no, you couldn’t help the desolation that had sprouted inside your heart, the muscle aching as you observed his radiant smile from across ballrooms, the king exchanging affectionate glances at his wife while coddling his sweet daughter. But you were happy for him all the same. He deserved to be surrounded by those he loved, deserved to be happy after years of heartbreak, even if you weren’t in the picture.
But you knew that you could depend on each other, even if you hadn’t spoken in months. It was an unspoken connection between you, a rule unbroken. Which was the reason you knew his midnight call one evening had been serious. His voice was flooded with anguish, sputtering out incomprehensible words as his breath caught with every beat. You dropped everything, the paperwork and meeting planning, flying over with speed so fast that the denizens of Hell whispered for days about the shooting star that had flown across the sky that evening.
In your journey, there was one persistent question that kept bothering you—why wasn’t his wife the one to comfort him? It wasn’t that you minded, not at all, but the entire situation struck you as odd. However, your answer became clear as you cracked open the doors to his bed chambers; the room was frozen and still as if left abandoned. However, the knocked-over furniture and smashed artifacts only made it look like it was robbed, which you highly doubted. And there in the center of the chaos was the Morning Star himself—no, Lucifer. Simply Lucifer. His body crumpled to the ground, painful hiccups leaving his lips. You slipped inside with ease and were about to grab his attention, and then you spotted it, the large lettering of a familiar type of document—a divorce agreement.
You were aware that the relationship between Lucifer and Lilith wasn’t perfect, not by any means. When they had fallen in love, there wasn’t a guideline for navigating relationships and marriage. They had to play it entirely by ear, leading to rushed decisions and a shaky foundation. You had always believed that they were each other’s perfect half, but it was only because their punishment and subsequent banishment had tied them together and forced them to suffer the same fate. At least, that was their belief for a couple of millennia. It didn’t mean that the split that was bound to happen didn’t hurt.
His cries had been hard to hear, throaty and painful, his body trembling as he mourned on the floor. It took a culmination of your mental and physical strength to unravel him, forcing him away from those papers and into an embrace, slowly steadying his breath with yours as he clung to you as if you would leave if he let go. That night set the standard for weeks of a miserable routine, with the former king reduced to sobs and silence. It was unbearable, especially as he pulled away from those who cared for him—his fellow sins, his friends, and especially his daughter. But you continued to hold on, not leaving even with his harsh utterances and occasional outbursts. You wouldn’t let him be alone, couldn’t let him be alone, moving into the broken family’s manor to care for him full-time.
And he would always be thankful for that.
His mental health was climbing uptick for years, fluctuating back and forth until he had stabilized, at least in comparison to his state before. He became fantastic at masking his depression, brushing it underneath the rug as he delved into his own creations, pushing many of his relationships even further away as he stopped leaving home. You were the one to bring him food and clean the estate—his staff had drifted to other careers over the past few years. You were the one assuring that he wasn’t left hunched over a bench in the worst posture possible, toiling away with his latest obsession, no matter the cuteness of the ducks.
In his more conscious moments, you would listen as he ranted about his issues, even though you both were aware they were a product of his self-isolation. But in those instants, whispering quietly as if the heavens still held onto your every word, hiding from its light as if the touch of it would scorch your skin, an intimacy blossomed from the depths of your former friendship. It had remained idle for centuries, underlying the foundation of every interaction and word, leaving fleeting touches and shared laughter in your blissful youths for stern support and brief softness in your demonic adulthoods—neither of you ever noticed that you saw the other through heart-shaped lenses. Two fallen ones, cut from the same cloth, destinies forever intertwined by the choices you made as young seraphim.
But that had been the norm for thousands of years.
And without knowing, you had fallen into a relationship stage humans had archaically dubbed as “courting,” traveling outside the estate for the chance to spend time with one another, exchanging personalized gifts whenever the opportunity arose, swapping words of encouragement and affection. It was only after you had kissed him on the cheek one night that you both realized your feelings, and it only spiraled on from there. There were scars from his past love—undoubtedly, you had nurtured them with care—but even despite those, you worked to establish a healthy, balanced relationship as you navigated this strange stage in your lives.
However, there was someone who had not been quite so fond of this new development. You had attended meetings with the Heaven Embassy for many years as a favor to Lucifer, his absence becoming common after his separation from Lilith, but you could still remember locking eyes with the first man as you entered the room, dropping the chicken drum in his hands as his mouth widen agape.
“Hot damn.”
His flirtatious and oftentimes self-centered advances didn’t fly past your head like you wished they would. It seemed despite having thousands of years under his belt, he was unable to learn any kind of manners, but he had been the original sexist prick. And for his status as a divine man, he fucked around a lot. You didn’t doubt that was due to his own insecurities about both of his wives preferring someone else’s dick over his.
Once you and Lucifer had started dating, you happened to make the mistake of slipping that information to Adam in the hopes that he would back off, but it only seemed to provide him a challenge as his flirtations increased tenfold. From then on, your meetings no longer consisted of the same old information surrounding the exterminations; rather, they were him pointing out the many sexual accolades that he had roped under his belt and the way that apparently made him better than Lucifer—his favorite line was always that “that snake must have a little snake.”
Your disdain was obvious, repeating over and over for him to shut his mouth, but he would only smirk, taking your response as a sign that he had struck a nerve and that it was an opportunity to dig deeper. You decided to take over all the meetings with the embassy, keeping Lucifer away from the lecherous banter of the man, no matter the discomfort that formed in your gut from his unabashed perverseness and the predatory stares at your body.
“Come onnnn, babe,” Adam whined, in the middle of biting the meat off a chicken bone.
You shot him a look. “I’m not your babe, Adam.”
“Babe.” If you were able to reach over and strangle him, you would’ve. That was probably the reason the coward used a hologram instead of coming here himself. “A guy like that couldn’t possibly please you the way I could.”
You massaged your nose bridge, pointedly ignoring the flicker of his eyes from your face to your chest, unable to maintain stable eye contact. “Can we just get on with the meeting?”
“You know I’m right, but I’ll let you off the hook for now.”
You groaned, slamming your head onto the table.
From years onward, his nerve only increased, but he had never shown his bloodlust to you before until the exorcist army descended from the heavens to wreak chaos and death upon the doorstep of Lucifer’s only child, Charlie. You and the ever-so-optimistic princess of Hell developed quite a soft spot for one another, which wasn’t difficult since you had already been considered family in centuries past. The title of your romantic relationship with her father initially came with questions and a couple of awkward moments, but it wouldn’t stop either of you from growing a deeper friendship and understanding, walking through the process together. And it definitely didn’t stop you from defending the girl you had seen for years as a pseudo-daughter, along with her noble ambitions.
“Charlie!” you yelled, knocking Adam away from her as he attempted to strangle her. Charlie sputtered, holding her throat with a pained cough, and you raised a steady hand to her back, helping her rise to her feet. You gave her a once-over, relieved to find that she had no substantial wounds besides a couple of cuts and bruises.
You sighed, cupping her rosy cheeks. “Thank goodness you’re alright. Sorry for being so late. Your father will be here any moment.”
Her formerly desolate expression quickly changed into a beaming smile, eyes glimmering with revitalized determination. “Good! We need all the help we can get.”
However, the moment was cut short by the overexaggerated breaths of a particular man, Adam wobbling to his feet as he cradled his bruised ribs, which you didn’t doubt had been cracked in the impact. It was hard not to smile as he struggled to stand, a wave of retribution twitching through your fingertips.
“You bitch,” he groaned between shallow gasps, though his voice drifted into a humorous lilt. “You know, I’m all for feisty women, but this shit’s a bit extreme, don’tcha think, babe?”
“I am not your babe, Adam.”
You cringed at the moan that left his lips, knowing it was not from the pain of his bruises. “God damn, I love it when you say my name.” He chuckled. “It’d be better if you screamed it.”
“You couldn’t have been that good if both your wives left you for someone else,” you muttered, swallowing your bodily urge to vomit as you rubbed the burgeoning headache coursing through your temples.
His expression drained of any warmth or humor, only leaving behind the rotted, sinful corpse of a man that he pretended not to be. “What the fuck did you say to me, bitch?”
“Hmmm,” you hummed, rolling your eyes. “Did I strike a nerve there?”
His mouth contorted into a snarl. “You know, the only reason that snake keeps your ass around is because he needs a couple of assets,” he barked, curving his hands to gesture toward your curves. “To distract him!”
“Hey! Don’t talk about him—”
He cut you off, his imposing figure towering over you. “You’re only a convenience. A pretty face and a hole to fuck.”
You gasped, but he didn’t let you speak, a smirk curling up on his disgusting face. “You don’t mean anything to him, hun,” he sneered, his voice sickeningly sweet as he grabbed your chin, craning your neck at a muscle-aching angle to stare into your eyes. “You had a chance at heaven, slut. A chance to be with me. And you fuckin’ blew it—!”
He didn’t have a chance to finish his sentence, a bone-crunching punch tunneling into his face, his body cast off the hotel, which rocked under the aftershock, before it started to crumble like a deck of cards. With no time to waste, you and Charlie haphazardly jumped from shrapnel piece to shrapnel piece, able to land on the ground with barely a tumble as it collapsed into your foundation. The moment would’ve been devastating if your focus hadn’t been pinpointed elsewhere, the screams of a dying man drawing everyone to the impact pit.
“You have a lot of fuckin’ nerve,” a low voice scowled, sweltering steam blocking everyone’s vision away from the pair until it evaporated into the air, and that was when you spotted him. His voice was barely recognizable. The duplicated tones and whispers surrounding each word made him unidentifiable. But you knew who it was; those familiar sets of wings and the eyes of his tailcoat were clues enough. You hadn’t seen him take this form in decades, centuries even—he had no use for it, and to go to such an extreme was unlike him. He was shaking more than ever before; his fists balled up Adam’s collar as he pinned him to the ground.
“Intruding on my fuckin’ realm. Hurting my daughter.” And with each offense, another blow was added to the first man’s face, which looked more like roadkill than a former human with each malefaction. “Harassing and insulting my future wife!”
“Don’t you mean your little whore?” Adam managed to utter, that cocky tone still persistent.
But that was a terrible mistake.
Lucifer did not respond to his comment, not at all. Instead, he paused, finding himself unprepared for the sheer audacity of the man underneath him, a man only clinging to life through recesses of holy power and spite. To the unsuspecting bystander, it would seem the king had calmed himself down, but instead, an inferno blazed between his fingertips, his form threatening to tear with the amount of heavenly light that he balanced on his palms. The ire of his many eyes looked upon Adam, and they saw to it that his judgment day had come early.
“Die.”
“Dad!”
Luck seemed to have Adam’s back as Charlie intervened, one of the few people who could ever draw her father out of such an irate warpath. However, it was only after a moment of contemplation from Lucifer, whose eyes stared at Adam, his face unreadable as his fingers twitched before he cracked a wicked smirk.
“How’s mercy feel, bitch?”
The next moments were a blur, though those eyes had turned towards you instead, not with the anger they had towards Adam, but of sheer contemplation—not that you paid attention to them, watching Adam’s death unfold in an ironically anti-climatic sort of way. You would’ve felt bad if your mind didn’t remedy the guilt in your gut with memories of your several encounters, most of which were not PG-13. The rest of the staff and residents gathered their bearings, joining to work on rebuilding the hotel, but you did not have the strength to. Instead, you took a moment for yourself, thoughts toiling through your head as they often did, not understanding the icky, nauseous feeling pooling at the bottom of your stomach.
You flinched at the brush of a hand that rested on your shoulder, only to find that it had been Lucifer, his brow furrowed in that same contemplative expression. And much like those times alone in the estate decades prior, a patient silence persisted as he sat next to you, gauging each touch as he pulled you closer, allowing your limp body to lean into his.
“You know none of what that asshole said is true, right?”
Is that what you had been so concerned about? You couldn’t tell. Your thoughts surrounding your relationship, especially in the context of his former love, had always been indecipherable, even to yourself. His question brought a small beam of clarity into the shadowed pits of your darkest thoughts, but it wasn’t the time to talk about it. Not now, at least.
“Yeah, I know.” Your voice was more shaken than you wanted it to come out, but he understood the underlying message. He could tell it wasn’t the truth, not entirely, and that the roots of your insecurities weren’t something to be remedied through a singular conversation. But it was a start. He intertwined your fingers, caressing the bare area of your ring finger.
“I wish you would’ve told me,” he spoke, his voice soft. “I would never have let you go to those meetings.”
You stayed staring out into the distance. “It wasn’t that big of a deal.”
However, he believed differently, tilting your chin as he cupped your face, much more loving compared to the hands that had grabbed you prior. And his eyes, ones that had been filled with hatred, now glinted in sharp concern. “But it is a big deal. That’s sexual harassment.”
“You were going through so much,” you replied. “It was just one additional thing I didn’t want you to deal with. Another burden on your back.”
“(Name),” he said, voice stern.
The gruffness of his uncompromising tone drew your eyes to your hands. “Any insult to you is an insult to me. Always has been, always will be. People don’t get to talk to you like that. It doesn’t matter what shit I’m going through. That doesn’t mean you get to be thrown under the bus.” He cracked a smile. “And anyone who even thinks of treating you less than the perfection you are deserves to be roasted alive. You’re not a burden. You’re priceless.”
“You’re really into those cannibalism metaphors recently,” you quipped, a bit of your reprieve and humor returning back. He laughed, his heart falling into ease, though he recognized the nod towards his disdain for a certain radio demon, his expression contorting in disgust.
“I’m not gonna eat him! Think of how gross that thing would taste. Just awful, bleh—!”
You cut him off with a kiss, making his rosy cheeks redden more. “Thanks, Lu.”
You tried to stand. His arm braced underneath your back, a hand brushing across the sensitive skin of your waist as he hovered above, his lips locked onto yours. You sighed into his mouth as his fingers mapped every beauty mark of your face, only for him to split, panting. His eyes shone with recognizable desperation, but the smirk on his lips told you he was prepped to tease, brushing the stray baby hairs out of your face that had been ruffled in the fray.
“If someone ever bothers you like that again, you tell me. Got it?”
You only sighed. “Lucifer, I can handle my—”
He pressed a kiss to your knuckles, mouth upturned in a cheeky grin at the way it cut you off. “It’s not smart to fight without your shield, now, is it?’
You relented, unable to withhold your bashful grin. “Of course.”
A silence persisted.
“Your future wife, hm?”
“…shit.”

Big, butiful and nice - Fatgum x Reader
I have carried this idea with me for a while. This features a single Mom! Reader, so if kids aren't your thing, you don't have to read it. Pure Fluff. Tagging @missalienqueen @bbglay @pixiesavvy @itsyoursunshinebabe @marti-mp4
“UP! UP!” Chubby arms reach for him and huge eyes twinkle up at him over a row of missing teeth.
“Oh?” Toyomitsu reaches down and picks the little girl up. “Who are you?”
“Etsuko.” She tells him proudly, trying to reach for the zipper of his costume.
“Hi, Etsuko. Where is your mommy?”
“Dead.”
He stills. Oh.
“Etsuko?!” A woman in a business suit rushes around the corner, spots the little girl and halts. “You can’t just run off!”
It’s only then that you notice him - not that he’s trying to hide in his big form.
“Oh! Oh, I’m so sorry, Mr. Fatgum, Sir! I was just showing Etsuko the on-site childcare when she ran off! Please, let me take her, I don’t know why she bothered you.”
“Big!” Etsuko explains simply. “I can see the world!”
“Yes, you do!” Toyomitsu bounces her once, twice and revels in her giggles. “And don’t worry, it happens.” He transfers the little girl to your arms, watches with fondness as she immediately snuggles into your side. “Your…?”
“Niece, Sir. She’s my niece. I just… uh, I just transferred this week and this is all pretty new for us, but I promise we’ll be totally professional from now on.”
“Oh, please don’t.” He laughs, waving his hand, “That’d be boring, right?”
You look a little dumbfounded. It’s pretty, he notices, when your features soften. When you’re not constantly focused on looking all-serious.
“Boss?” A voice asks from the other end of the hallway. He turns to see Kirishima, all dressed up in his costume and eager to get going. Toyomitsu nods and turns back to you.
“I guess I’ll see you around. And Etsuko,” he boops her nose, “Keep smiling, okay?”
-
“Mr. Fatgum, Sir?” Toyomitsu looks up from his Desk and the assortment of food spread across its expanse.
You’re dressed in a different suit this time, the dull grey color of it making you look like a banker coming to collect his soul. He shivers.
“I have the analysis. Do you want to go over it now or later?”
“If you don’t mind me eating while you talk, we can go over it now.”
You nod and slip into the chair on the other side of his desk.
You’re a professional, he can tell. You stick out of their agency like a sore-thumb, but you’re probably also the voice of reason they need the most.
Yes, he’s on Number 58, but he’s also too slack with his employees. Lord knows there are many things he could improve.
You show him charts and numbers, studies and graphs. You’re smart, he can tell, to the point that he can’t help but interrupt you.
“Did you just do that calculation in your head?”
“Oh… oh yeah, it’s my… it’s my Quirk.” You explain, seemingly embarrassed by it. “I’ve got a computer for a brain, basically.”
“That’s cool.
You shrug. Your eyes flicker to the Takoyaki. He pushes them towards you, silently offering them.
“Oh, no, I shouldn’t.” You wave your hands but he shakes his head. “Take one. Tell me about yourself for a bit, will you? You transferred here from Endeavours Agency, right?”
“Yes.” You nod, still eyeing the Takoyaki. He picks one up and hands it to you, watching the emotions flicker over your face. Eventually, you pop it into your mouth and chew and he’s lucky to have been watching because happiness flickers over your face like a shooting star over the night sky.
“Another?” Toyomitsu hands you another one. It doesn’t take long for the dish to vanish.
You must have been hungry, or maybe it’s just your favorite dish, but the food has softened your features, blurred the harsh lines that you draw yourself in.
“My sister died unexpectedly. I don’t know who Etsuko’s father is, but my parents died when I was a teen and I’m the only one she has left. I did love working for Endeavour, I really did, but it’s no place for a single mother. I heard you offered on-site childcare, so I applied.”
“And what do you think of us so far?”
“Well,” you reach for your tablet again, but he stops you.
“Without the numbers, please?”
You hesitate for a second. “It’s… it’s warm, I guess. Everyone’s really nice here and no one minds when Etsuko runs off yet again, coming to find me in my office. I know it’s my job to look for opportunities to improve your brand and your agency, but I am constantly at odds.”
“Why is that?”
“If you could have an Agency like Endeavour, would you do it if it meant giving up all the things that make you special?”
He considers it. If there’s no on-site childcare at Endeavour’s, and he’d have to give this one up, quite a few of his employees would fall away. Like Kuno-kun, who brings in his daughter and his wife’s homemade baking. Or Noda-san, who knits scarfs for everyone in the winter and who’s using the child-care for her grandsons.
There’d be no longer the laughter of children heard in the hallways, no more drawings handed over at the end of a semester.
“No, I don’t think I’d want to give that up. At least not all of it. But we could find a compromise, I guess. Make the best of what we are. If that means we’ll stay at Nr. 58, I’m fine with that. Being a Hero doesn’t mean to have the highest rank, but to save the most people, right?”
Surprise flickers over your face.
It’s gone as fast as it came but he likes to believe that he made an impact on you.
-
“How are you all doing today?”
Almost fifteen children surround him. The older ones are holding back in favor of the younger ones, he can tell, but they’re all so eager to tell him about their adventures.
“One after the other, okay?” Toyomitsu settles on a nearby chair. “But first we have to ask: who’s our newest member?”
Etsuko steps forward. Her hair is pulled up into little pigtails and she looks adorable.
“Hi, Etsuko. Do you want to sit on my lap today? You have to be careful though, because if you lean too much into me, I might suck you in.”
Her eyes widen, but the kids around her giggle. “Do it!” They tell her. “It’s so much fun.”
So she does, giggling almost hysterically as the fat absorption kicks in. Only her head’s left out, her pigtails whipping around as she shakes her head, giggling.
“If you want out, all you have to do is tell me, okay? No kicking.”
She nods.
At the end of this month's visit to the children, he leaves with a hand full of drawings and one sucker, tucked into his hand by one of the older children.
Toyomitsu’s almost down the hallway when he feels someone tugging at his legs. He turns to see Etsuko toddling after him. She reaches for him.
“Up?” She asks and he can’t say no to her big eyes and her small pout.
If he walks around the agency for a bit with her sitting on his shoulder instead of directly taking her back, that’s his secret and his secret alone.
-
Months pass.
Toyomitsu implements the first of your proposals. His ranking moves, slowly at first, until he finds himself at Nr. 35.
Etsuko has begun sneaking into his office once a week, handing him a drawing or a slice of fruit, left over from her lunch. Sometimes he lets her sit on his lap, listening to her talk about her day.
Certainly, you must know about it. How else could she bring in expensive chocolates one day and have your handwriting on her drawing the next, clearly pointing out that the yellow blob is him?
He’s been thinking a lot about you lately.
More than he should about one of his employees.
But he likes the way you talk, all serious one second, rattling down numbers and statistics, until he makes a joke and you can’t stop giggling, your voice suddenly smooth and soft.
He likes the way you look in the early mornings when Etsuko’s done her best to make you late, when your hair’s not done up perfectly and you’re missing your usual makeup. Or when you’d been with her for lunch and no one’s told you yet that there’s a sticky handprint on your blouse or your skirt is wrinkled, no doubt from Etsuko pulling on it.
You love your niece and he loves to see all signs of it, like an imprint you cannot wipe away.
So far, you haven’t shown any signs of interest in him.
You’ve started calling him by his last name, though, foregoing the “Sir” for most of the time.
But that doesn’t mean that you’d consider a date with him, right?
Or is he starting to get delusional?
-
“What do you think, Daddy?” Toyomitsu freezes.
Etsuko’s sitting on his lap, fingertip moving over one of her drawings as she explains.
It had been a perfectly fine moment up until now.
“What did you just call me?”
“Daddy!” She looks up at him, grinning so wide it must hurt her face. “Because you’re my Daddy.”
“I… well…” He struggles. He doesn’t know what to say. “Etsuko, you cannot call me that.”
“Eh? Why?” She pulls at his shirt. “Are you not my Daddy?”
“No, Etsuko. I’m not your Daddy. I like you a lot and I want to be your friend, but I’m not your Daddy.”
Her eyes start to water and he can feel himself panicking. He’s normally not that bad with kids, but this… this is just catching him on the wrong foot at the wrong time.
“Look,” he tries to explain. “It’s like with your Aunty, right? She loves you a lot, but she’s not your Mommy.”
“But you’re my Daddy!” Etsuko’s hands are balled into fists now. “Mommy said that Daddy was big and butiful and nice! You are my Daddy.”
“Oh, Etsuko.” Toyomitsu pulls her in, realizing her mistake. She’s crying into his shirt now, her tears more fueled by confusion and anger than real sadness. He lets her cry it out before he picks her up.
“I think we need to talk to your Aunty for a moment about this, okay?”
-
He hadn’t thought your face could turn any more serious, but he’d been mistaken.
There’s no softness left in your features as he explains. Etsuko’s sitting on your lap now, face snuggled into your blazer. He’s pretty sure that’s going to leave stains, but he’s also sure he shouldn’t point it out right now.
“I didn’t know,” you say. And “I’m sorry she bothered you this much.” And “I will make sure this doesn’t happen again.”
At some point he realizes that you’re no longer listening to him, ears closed off from his explanations. He can do nothing but leave you, wondering if he’s just ruined everything that could have possibly been.
-
For the following week, he gets no visits from Etsuko.
Toyomitsu does not dare to visit her in childcare either, unsure of what you want.
But he’s got an appointment with you on Thursday that he puts all his hopes on.
When you come in he can tell that you must have spent an extra minute preparing yourself beforehand, because there is no hair out of place and you’re wearing lipgloss like battle armor.
He feels wholly unprepared for this fight, even less so after losing a quarter of his body fat in yesterday’s fight.
But the sight of him, so much smaller and thinner than you’ve gotten to know him, seems to soften the resolve in your eyes.
“Are you okay?” You ask.
“If you refer to my body, I will be. I have to eat a lot in the next few days to get back to my usual form, but it’s nothing I can’t handle. If you refer to something else… No, I’m not okay with how this played out.
“About that…” You gingerly sink into your chair, hands folded over your lap. You’re not looking at him. “I did some more research. I should have done that ages ago. I… I’ve found Etsuko’s father.”
His heart beats painfully.
“Who is it?”
“His name’s Kan Sekijiro. I don’t know if you know hi-”
“Vlad King?”
“Ah, yes. So you know him?”
“I know of him. One of his students interned here. He’s… did you contact him?”
“Not yet.” You purse your lips. Considering that all Etsuko knew about her father… I am sorry that she got you confused. I know this is highly unprofessional and-”
“I don’t care.”
You still. Your eyes flicker over to him.
“Look,” he leans forward, can’t help it. He needs you to understand this. “This isn’t just Etsuko’s doing alone. I like spending time with her. I could have stopped anytime, bring her back every time she came over to my office. I didn’t put a stop on it and maybe I should have, but I…”
“What?”
“I have to preface this by saying that I don’t want to make you uncomfortable, or… or put you in a tight spot because I’m your employer, but-”
“Spit it out.” Your words are harsh and rushed and he can tell you regret them the second they leave your mouth. But you’re right. He’s stalling.
“I am interested in you.”
Your jaw slackens, your features soften with that well-known dumbfoundedness.
As you bury your face in your hands, he can feel his heart sink. Fighting criminals is so much easier than facing rejection.
“Are you okay?” He asks when your face doesn’t come back up. You nod into your hands.
“Are you sure? You’re not looking too good there.”
“It feels like my Quirk is overloading. I am…”
“Overthinking? I am familiar with that. Not that I suffer from it, but you’ve met Suneater, I guess.” He tries to joke, make light of the situation. It’s what makes you finally lift your head.
“If you’re serious,” you bite through your teeth, “About this. About… Etsuko and me. I… I’d take you out to dinner.”
Toyomitsu blinks. He’s expected everything but that.
“Are you serious?” He asks and you groan.
“No, I mean yes. But… you know how much I eat, right?”
You huff, looking away. He’s not the worlds expert in flirting, but you do look kinda flustered.
“I might have looked up All-You-Can-Eat-Restaurants ever since I’ve gotten to know you,” you mumble and the pout on your lips looks eerily like Etsuko’s.
-
“I’m home!” Toyomitsu calls out from the Genkan.
To his surprise, no tiny feet come running. When he peeks around the corner he finds you curled up on the Couch, an open book next to you on the floor. You must have fallen asleep reading.
“Hey,” he cards a hand through your hair to wake you gently. “Shouldn’t Sekijiro be back before dinner?”
“What?” You try to wipe the sleep from your eyes while snuggling into him. “Oh, no, he called before I took a nap. He’s bringing her back after Dinner. Apparently, they’re making pancakes.”
“Ah, did you tell him to bring leftovers?” He jokes, chuckling when you nod earnestly.
.
Life is good.
He’s got a wife and a daughter and his daughter’s father has turned into a good friend.
He’s got a job he enjoys, a Quirk he can rely on and so far he’s been able to stay himself.
There’s not much he’d wish for nowadays.
Well, except maybe some more food.
.
You’re still on the Couch when he walks into the kitchen, fully intending to make Dinner as soon as he’s gotten a little snack from the fridge.
But inside the fridge is a huge box. He furrows his brows and pulls it out. He recognizes the branding, but you only buy a cake at this bakery for important dates, like your wedding anniversary or Etsuko’s first day in kindergarten.
“Baby, did I miss an event?” He asks, flipping open the lid.
“Why do you ask?”
“There’s a cake in the fri-”
“Don’t open it!” You yell, rushing over. But the lid’s already open. The buttercream frosting is light blue and the icing a dark blue. Big, bold letters write out “World’s best Dad!”
“This is nice,” he says as you reach him, clearly out of breath and a little haggard. “But you didn’t have to buy an expensive cake to let me know. Not that I mind. Or is it for Sekijiro?”
“Ah,” your face is doing some weird contortions.
His eyes flicker back to the icing and something in his head clicks at the color.
“Taishirou, I’m pregnant.”

Shooting Stars
A night of star showers is imminent in Baldur's Gate. You couldn't think of a better way to spend it but with Astarion and a sparkling glass of champagne in your hand - and lots of teasing banter- until the first star comes shooting. Because of course: there are wishes to be made and hopefully to be fulfilled.
MASTERLIST | AO3
Author's Note: Time to cook of the 2024 season! I originally wanted to use this for the Winter Challenge as well but eh, I rather wanted to take my time (and I'm happy about it - I'm only getting back in the saddle with writing now, break was very much needed). So have this piece of fluff, that is hopefully something for the soul to kick of this year of writing! This wonderful artwork was done by the lovely @britonell (thank you so much!).
Pairing: Astarion/Fem!Tav (You)
Warnings: none, just tooth-rotting fluff
Wordcount: 2,9k
Song: All This And Heaven Too - Florence + The Machine
~~~
“Shit, I think I ripped one of my stockings”, you cursed while you rearranged your seat at the edge of the roof. Astarion relaxedly sitting beside you clicked his tongue and looked judgingly at you - but you knew he was only teasing. The sparkle in his ruby eyes spoke of nothing but affection and admiration as he looked at you and then towards the glittering night sky.
Tonight a shower of shooting stars was supposed to happen. The whole city had been raving about it for days since astronomers had shared the news of the upcoming celestial event. Probably every one who could afford so would be out and about to catch a glimpse of some of nature's magic. And of course - as was custom - to make some wishes and hope for the falling stars to kindly fulfil them.
Some of the stars on the firmament were twinkling already, as if they were shimmying, getting ready to fall out of their sockets and travel across the night sky. To grace all beings below them with their fleeting beauty.
Never had you seen something like this and you had been brimming with excitement from the first moment you had heard about it. You wouldn't want to miss it for the world.
When you had asked Astarion if he wanted to watch the star showers with you he had lifted one eyebrow and given you a kind of condescending if playful smile. Then, when he had answered his voice had dripped with sarcasm: “Oh darling, why would we need to watch some beautiful fallen stars when I already have one right in front of me.”
You had almost barfed onto his feet. Astarion had looked offended.
Then you had lost it so hard laughing that your vampire had needed to hold you up by your elbows so as to not let you slide onto the ground while you suffered from your hysteric fit.
“Astarion, love, you already have me - you can scrap the cheesy lines - please?”, you had pressed out through laughter and buried your face in his chest while Astarion had pouted a bit more about your snide remarks regarding his flirting techniques.
Of course, he hadn’t stopped. In fact, he’d made it a game over the next couple of days to come up with even much worse lines while you always desperately tried to keep it together.
“But darling, all my wishes have come true already with you by my side.”
“Love, I believe the night's cancelled. All stars are already in your eyes.”
“Oh, my heart, I’ve already fallen hard for you, why would you need another star?”
They got progressively worse the longer he kept going - and incredibly less inventive.
But of course you were still swooning on the inside, at least a little. Because after all, how couldn't you? Knowing that Astarion was indeed in love with you and that he really meant his words. Well, once you scraped all the gooey honey off it. What lay beneath was very sweet and much less sickening.
This game of his had gone on for several days until the night had finally arrived - and until even Astarion had almost run out of stupid pick-up lines.
The both of you had decided to dress up, just for the hell of it. This being one of the things you had adopted quickly from Astarion: indulging yourself, taking care of yourself and dressing for yourself - and for him of course, because you could never get enough of the stunned looks he threw you.
You were in a dress that Astarion had gifted you some time back and that was embroidered by the man himself. And the vampire in a finely stitched doublet that made him look positively regal and smoking. There was a fair amount of staring happening from both sides, hopefully not distracting from the actual event later on.
Then with lots of giggles from your side and terrible cursing from Astarion you had climbed onto the roof of your little Baldurian townhouse. This man could never do anything without commenting on it. When you had pointed out as much, he had narrowed his eyes at you and looked tempted to drag you down the small ladder again that led up to the roof. But you had swiftly moved out of his reach with a cackle - not without also making sure to give him a good view of your behind first by deliberately swishing open the slit in your skirt.
Carefully, you had scattered towards the edge over the old shingles then, until you could carefully settle down.
Obviously not carefully enough though since you feared that the delicate sheer fabric covering your slender legs might have been torn on a sharp edge when you had sat down. But it didn’t really matter. Astarion had already promised he’d rip these stockings off you (together with the set of naughty underwear you’d chosen specifically for him) with his teeth later in the night. Really, you were just presenting an opening for your eager lover.
With another curse under his breath, the vampire sat down beside you although he did so elegantly and immediately evoked the image of a lounging cat. The grace of the rogue really was unmatched.
You leaned back on your hands and angled one leg, putting it up on the edge while the other dangled over thin air. Astarion almost mirrored you with the way he seemed to sit comfortably there, leaning back, legs slightly spread and hanging over the edge while he observed the glittering night sky.
“Love, that’s no way to sit for a lady”, Astarion teased you with a promising grin while he eyed your angled leg, clad in nothing but a gauzy stocking, adorned with a delicate lace rim at the very top of your thigh - which was almost completely on display for him.
You angled your head at him and swayed your leg a little so the slit allowed for an even better view of your leg - careful to only tease for later.
“Good thing I am not a lady then”, you replied to your vampire, tongue in cheek.
“Oh yes, my love, it’s for the best. The way I’d single handedly ruin your reputation later tonight would be scandalous,” Astarion replied while he devoured you with his eyes from under his brows. In his head you could bet he was already letting his teeth graze over the delicate skin of your inner thigh. Oh, it would be a night to behold.
You laughed softly, throwing your head back. But then you let your leg softly fall onto the other, giving at least the illusion of decency again.
You grinned at the vampire, the vampire grinned back with promise.
Nothing would ever come close to this, to being with him: the playful banter, the easy companionship, the intense intimacy. You hummed contentedly while you slowly ripped your loving gaze of Astarion and let it wander over your surroundings.
Below you the streets of the Upper City seemed to fill up with the whole population of Baldur’s Gate. Of course everyone wanted the best sight of the night sky - and Upper just had the best spots. And what a good thing that you still had the vantage point even with all those people trying to find a neat stargazing spot.
Idle chatter drifted up towards you. People had brought food and drinks and a continuous hum of anticipation filled the cold night air, but you barely even noticed. For you there was merely your soulmate and you up on the roof of your home.
Behind you you had two crystal glasses waiting to be filled with some bubbling champagne Astarion had insisted upon. “If you’re going to make me sit up on some godsforsaken rooftop during wintertime only to crane your neck at the night sky you can look up at every night, I might as well bring a drink”, he’d said and rolled his eyes while he had grabbed not one, but two of the expensive bottles. You had simply shrugged - you wouldn’t say no if drinks were involved. And since you had figured out that it had been nearly half a year already since most everything had been dealt with, you felt it was only appropriate to celebrate this fact with a drink.
The vampire had whole-heartedly agreed when you had told him your observation. Astarion, of course, had been very well aware of that even before. He hadn’t stopped counting the days since his life had taken a turn for the better and, perhaps, he never would.
Up on the roof the rogue now procured his dagger, threw it up to flip it artfully and only then - when he was sure that he had your full attention - he took the first bottle with a sly grin. And then, in his histrionic manner, he swished the sharp blade up along the curve of the bottle neck and cleanly took off the head along with the cork.
Champagne immediately started foaming out of the bottle and Astarion was quick to grab the crystal glasses, both in one hand, and elegantly pour you each a glass of sparkling wine.
Somewhere below you heard someone yelp - apparently Astarion had unconsciously managed to hit someone with his display of skill. You looked down and saw an older gentleman rub the back of his head and turn towards you.
Quickly grabbing Astarion’s arm to make him pull back with you, you dragged up your legs with a giggle, hoping you could hide from the unwilling target. The vampire grinned broadly at you while he kept pouring - that little rascal.
You had to be honest though that you’d been quite impressed with the display of this dextrous if wholly unnecessary talent. It was after all very fitting for the flamboyant elf. But your adoration must have shown because the vampire was grinning proudly at you as he handed you a glass.
Time to get his ego in check again before it became too massive.
“Where’d you learn that?”, you asked after you had clinked glasses with him. “Rich prick academy?”
Astarion almost snorted into the glass he’d been taking a sip from. He recovered quickly though. “Not my fault they taught you neither that nor manners, you insolent little thing.” He clicked his tongue and took another sip of bubbly.
You waited until he had lifted up the drink filled flute to slap his arm.
His drink sloshed, some spilling onto him.
The look of that combined with too much force you had used to get back at him almost made you lose your balance. You screeched, gripping your glass as if it could stop you from falling.
But thankfully Astarion quickly grabbed your wrist with roguish reflexes, pulling you back and thus prohibiting you from falling off.
Your heart was racing from the sudden rush of adrenaline. The vampire was only laughing as you recovered from your self-inflicted fright. And you hadn’t even drunk a single drop of alcohol yet. So you made to catch up and lifted the crystal to your lips.
“Darling, don’t break your back falling off this rooftop, yes?” Astarion said, choosing this exact moment to break the silence again. “I have way better options to achieve that if you should insist upon it, my heart.”
You choked on the prickling drink and started coughing. Immediately, you were almost ready to push that bastard again, risking falling off once more. Astarion in the meantime smirked smugly at you while drinking his champagne in peace now.
“Don’t threaten me with a good time”, you croaked pathetically after barely being able to talk again. Somehow you seemed to draw the short end of the stick fairly often when it came to trying to out-sass the pale elf. But he had more than 200 years on you with that - give or take. You’d get back at him one of those days.
The bickering went on for some more back and forth until you had each downed your first glass, then a second while you were both laughing profusely and you started to feel the alcohol make your mind a little hazy.
Astarion refilled the glasses once more and you just kept talking - about everything and nothing. It was always so easy to just spend time with each other. It almost felt like you had been together a whole eternity already, in the best way imaginable.
“So, what are you wishing for?”, you asked Astarion emboldened by the alcohol while you were working on emptying your next glass of champagne.
The vampire inclined his head towards you and softly shook his head in disappointment: “Love, have they truly taught you nothing? You’re not supposed to tell or it won’t come true!” He softly clicked his tongue while you stuck out yours towards him. You kept looking at him in anticipation - but he was firm on not losing a word on the matter.
After a while you gave up with a dramatic sigh and gulped down the rest of liquid in your glass. Neither pouting at him, bribing him or even offering another glance of your precariously clothed legs seemed to work.
You though knew exactly what things you’d be wishing for: for him and you to be happy - that was the most important thing, to find a way to allow Astarion to walk in the sun again, a long and happy life for all your friends you hadn’t seen in a while now, to have things stay like this forever or at least to be able to always come back to moments like these.
You really deeply hoped this would stay with you: the unconditional love, the deep trust, the easiness with which the two of you spent your days and nights now with each other.
Some time ago you had feared that once the permanent tension of your adventuring days was over there wouldn’t be much left for you. That Astarion would just realise that you were barely more than a former street kid and thief - and pretty much boring beyond that.
But it hadn’t been like that. Quite the opposite: every day seemed to make the vampire fall harder for you. And you knew that was surely true from your side. It was like every time you looked at him another small piece of your heart was permanently handed to the vampire who you trusted fully to handle it gently. And perhaps the same was true for Astarion’s undead and unbeating heart in his chest.
You kept gazing at him and enjoyed just listening to him talk beside you while you sipped on your drink. The wind was drifting through both your hair, pulling some light strands of your hair with it while it merely tugged softly on the rogue’s curls. His side profile was sharply illuminated by silver moon light, pronouncing his straight nose, sharp cheekbones. And not to forget his ruby red eyes that always caught when you were staring at him and then sparkled in delight.
You could just spend eternity with moments like these.
Astarion was currently telling you about a book of poetry he was reading at the moment, looking up at the moon and the stars with a slight smile on his lips when a murmur started to move through the crowd below you.
Both of your ears perked up a little as the people became louder. And then when someone even screeched and you saw someone pointing up at the night sky as you leaned forward you realised what it must mean: shooting stars.
Your head snapped up and you caught a movement out of the corner of your eye, just the disappearing tail of a star racing across the darkness. With a gasp you grabbed Astarion’s shoulder without looking to get his attention. The vampire immediately complained but was silenced when another falling star shot across the sky - this time clearly visible for both of you.
The people below were buzzing in excitement now, loud “oohs” and “aaahs” were heard in the chill winter night as the stars become more and more frequent until bright white curves of sparkles were drawn across the sky every few seconds.
Your eyes widened as you beheld the wondrous event in front of you, completely entranced by what was happening. Truly a magic that was unmatched in beauty, a spell woven over everyone that was lucky enough to catch sight of it even for only a moment.
The vampire observed the falling stars with you for a long while before he slowly turned to you.
Astarion looked at you, still fully smitten by stars falling from the sky, eyes wide and shining, lips parted slightly.. He drank it all in: the wonder in your eyes, your beautiful face, the love. You see the latter reflected on his face when your gaze flicked to the vampire and back up to the sky to not miss a single star.
But Astarion’s gaze kept lingering upon you. Not wanting to ever forget even the most miniscule of details of this moment while sparks of light kept dancing over your face and your ever broadening smile.
He hadn’t lied, calling you his star.
Because his biggest wish, although always unspoken, had already been fulfilled.
Real Legolas stans can give you a baffled half-hour outburst about how we don't understand why the HECK Legolas was given all these increasingly ridiculous and absurd stunts in the movies while his single, beautifully-written, traditionally heroic (and much more plausible) moment was omitted entirely.
Legolas laid down his paddle and took up the bow that he had brought from Lórien. Then he sprang ashore and climbed a few paces up the bank. Stringing the bow and fitting an arrow he turned, peering back over the River into the darkness. Across the water there were shrill cries, but nothing could be seen. Frodo looked up at the Elf standing tall above him, as he gazed into the night, seeking a mark to shoot at. His head was dark, crowned with sharp white stars that glittered in the black pools of the sky behind. But now rising and sailing up from the South the great clouds advanced, sending out dark outriders into the starry fields. A sudden dread fell on the Company. 'Elbereth Gilthoniel!' sighed Legolas as he looked up. Even as he did so, a dark shape, like a cloud and yet not a cloud, for it moved far more swiftly, came out of the blackness in the South, and sped towards the Company, blotting out all light as it approached. Soon it appeared as a great winged creature, blacker than the pits in the night. Fierce voices rose up to greet it from across the water. Frodo felt a sudden chill running through him and clutching at his heart; there was a deadly cold, like the memory of an old wound, in his shoulder. He crouched down, as if to hide. Suddenly the great bow of Lórien sang. Shrill went the arrow from the elven-string. Frodo looked up. Almost above him the winged shape swerved. There was a harsh croaking scream, as it fell out of the air, vanishing down into the gloom of the eastern shore. The sky was clean again. There was a tumult of many voices far away, cursing and wailing in the darkness, and then silence. Neither shaft nor cry came again from the east that night.
Also, when I was first reading these books, I was going really really fast and I missed the couple of mentions of "Legolas and Gimli are friends now, isn't that weird?" and so I do believe THIS was the scene that bowled me over and strapped the goggles to my face:
'Praised be the bow of Galadriel, and the hand and eye of Legolas!' said Gimli, as he munched a wafer of lembas. 'That was a mighty shot in the dark, my friend!' 'But who can say what it hit?' said Legolas.
“Hold still, Lix, or I’m never going to finish,” you mutter, brush in hand, trying for the umpteenth time to tie little braids at the back of Lixie’s head.
Lix was talking your ear off. His voice was soft as it always was when he spoke to you. He leaned into your touch as your hands gently massaged his scalp.
Felix told you about all the places he’d been able to visit, telling you about everything that reminded him of you. He really wished he could take you along.
It was sweet, the way his mind seemed to find you even when he was halfway across the globe from you.
You’d missed him too.
As you wove the strands together you let your fingers ‘accidentally’ graze the blonde’s neck. It makes Felix squirm, a smile tugging at his lips as he looked at you through the mirror.
“Ihit’s nohohot fair! Y-yohuhu’re doing thihis on puhurpose!” He giggles and the cute sounds he makes, has you smiling fondly.
Your fingers dance along the back of his neck and brushing against the sensitive skin just below his hairline.
A soft shiver rippled through him, and you smirk as Lix trembles in his seat, barely holding back a chuckle.
“Tickles, huh?” You tease, your fingertips grazing his neck again, slower this time—deliberate.
You carefully watch the way Felix’s shoulders scrunch up and how his lips wobble before a beautiful smile breaks free.
“It’s nohot my fahault!! Youhuhu’re tihihickling mehehe!” He protests, laughter bubbling up uncontrollably.
Even as he whined, you noticed that Lix kept his hands in his lap, despite you not having requested it. It made you giggle.
Felix had always seemed to enjoy being tickled, you knew this, and you were so grateful he hadn’t changed.
“Squirmy. Does this tickle a lot baby?” You lean close to him, your hands merciless as they wiggled over Lix’s sensitive neck.
“Yehehehehes ihit tihihickles soho muHUHUch!!”
“Aww, so cute Lixie. You’re just as sensitive as I remember. I bet your members tickle you a lot to hm?” You loved how easy it was to fluster him.
Sweet giggles spill from his lips as you keep at it, gently curling and uncurling your hands at the sides of his neck.
“Youhuhu sahahaid you’d dohoho my hahair!! Nohohot tihickle mehe—AH ahahaha plehehease~”
Lixie’s hair was soft to the touch and as it brushed against your hands, an idea popped into your head.
Curiously, you catch a stand of his hair between your fingertips and sweep the ends over your best friend’s ear.
Felix squeaked, his hands shooting up to grab onto yours. He looked pleadingly up at you and you could see the rosy blush on his cheeks.
The color really brought out his freckles, making them pop up across his face like stars in the night sky. The sight was breathtaking.
“Haha, does everything tickle you Lix? C’mon admit you’re the most sensitive one in the group and I’ll let you go~”
Felix shook his head stubbornly, his legs kicking out slightly as you moved to his ribs, digging into the crevices.
It makes Felix arch away, his hands clutching desperately onto the armrests of the chair.
“ahahaHAHA PLEHEHEASE!! NOHOT THEHERE!! YOUHUHU’RE SOHO MEHEHEAN!”
Shrieks mixed with helpless laughter, Lix doing his best to stay put while also trying to lean away from the torturous sensations.
It had been so long since the two of you had been able to spend some time together due to his busy schedule and Lix had promised to make it up to you.
You had been waiting for him to offer and a devious grin spread across your face the moment he had asked what you wanted to do.
His hair and makeup. Felix’s hair had grown so long and you had always wanted to style it. But as laughter filled the air, you decided that it could wait.
Right now, all you wanted to hear were more of these cute sounds. You couldn’t ignore how much you’d missed moments like these—the quiet times, just the two of you, away from the busy world.
Just when you thought you had the upper hand, Felix’s grin widened. Without warning, his fingers darted toward your waist, catching you off guard.
“Y/nnie~,” he cooed, scribbling his fingers over your sides and you can feel his breath fan your ear as he leans in, teasing, “Your turn now.”
You knew you were screwed. Lixie could be a so mean when he was in the mood.
There’s a gleam in his eyes as he watches you writhe in his hold. “What’s the matter y/nnie? Can’t take it, hm?”
His blunt nails skitter over your waist, lightning-fast and mischievous, making you jerk back instinctively.
A bout of frantic cackles escapes your lips as you shove his hands desperately. That ultimately proves to be futile.
His touch was light but quick, fingers dancing over your skin like tiny jolts of electricity, making it impossible to escape.
“Aw, that’s too bad. I wanna see your smile~ Won’t you laugh for me y/nnie?” Lix teased, his fingers playfully digging into your ribs now.
“Ahahaha Lihihix nohoho. Behehe nihihihice! Behe niHIHIHICE!!” You beg between peals of hysterical laughter.
His touch was relentless but playful, and his eyes sparkled with mischief, clearly enjoying every second of your torment.
Lix was much stronger than you and he used his strength to his advantage, easily pinning your arms and clawing at your tummy.
“C’mon y/nnie I know you can take this much~ Besides you really did a number on me earlier. Did you think you’d get away scot-free, hm?”
“Ihihi dihid nohohot! Plehehease ahahahaha youhu knohow Ihi’m more sehehehensitive!!” The words set your face ablaze, and felt insanely flustering to admit out loud but it got Felix to finally stop.
He let you go, messing up your hair as you slumped breathlessly in the chair he’d been seated in earlier. He tossed you a bottle of water from across the room.
“Now that we got that done, wanna get back on track?” His smirk told you this was far from over. The day was still young and you had plenty of time to get back at Lix.
“Better watch your back Lixie~ It’s not over yet.” You warn with a smirk, Felix’s bright red ears giving away how much this affected him.
To Have and To Hold
Requested by @furrypaintermiracle
warnings: noncon, dark!cillian, financial/emotional abuse, grooming kind of (reader is inexperienced and 20, Cillian is 47), gaslighting, forced pregnancy, somewhat slow build, Cillian is single with no kids
Summary: Cillian catches the eye of a woman that seems to be much younger than him and he is determined to build the perfect love story even if that means isolating you from your family and friends and convincing you he is the perfect man.
Author’s note: I’d like to reiterate everyone is of age, there is no pedophilia and I don’t condone writing it. Nor is this story in association with Cillian’s real life.
To Have and To Hold
It was a cold wintery night in the small town you lived in, people were roaming the streets holding their hot chocolates and coffees, some wrapped around with their lovers, some with friends. It seemed like the only time family could potentially come together.
“Y/N look!” You friend Makayla pointed up at the shooting star in the sky.
“Make a wish!” You closed your eyes gently, yet playfully as you inhaled and exhaled as if that would make the wish become any more true.
You excused yourself to the near coffee booth that caught your eye and senses, not being able to resist the sweet smell of caramel any longer.
Snow began to fall delicately from the soft, hazy clouds on top of your hat, intertwining with strands of your hair.
Once you exchanged the money, the kind lady whom was very soft spoken handed you your coffee, insisting that she’d hope you’d have a great night.
You thanked her kindly before turning and bumping into a stranger, knocking some napkins out of his hand.
“Oh, so sorry! Always seem to be a cluts around this time of year, I like to blame it on the ice.” You laughed nervously, sliding a strand of hair behind your ear while your cheeks heated red from embarrassment.
“Oh don’t be concerned, we all have accidents here and there, nothing to keep you awake at night I hope.” The man spoke rather calmly, his voice deep with a hint of sincerity.
His hand reached out, insisting on helping you up from your state.
“Oh, thank you.” You smiled softly, but once you looked up to see this mysterious man, his baby blue eyes drew you in, and the way his lips looked plush, and inviting as they formed a warm smile.
It was very apparent this man was older than you by the small yet visible age lines, and the way he spoke in a decent, charming manner.
He too couldn’t help but notice your kindness and how soft your voice sounded, almost angelic to his ears.
You hummed awkwardly, breaking your eye contact and looking around, spotting your friends sitting at a bench staring and giggling at the scene unfolding before them.
“I’m Cillian.” His voice had you spinning back around to him instantly. His hand was held out in a welcoming matter, to which you obliged.
“Y/N, my name’s Y/N.”
“Well Y/N, what are you doing saturday night? If you don’t mind me asking that is?” You couldn’t stop yourself from blushing, all words seeming to run from your mind at the realization, the possibility this older, yet attractive man could be asking you on a date.
“Ugh, n-nothing. Why do you ask?”
“I’d like to take you on a date, well multiple dates. Can’t have a beautiful girl like you get lost in the water now can I?” It didn’t take you long to respond with an answer.
“Yes! I mean um- sure.” You were so bad at this, not having much experience. He handed you his phone and you typed your number in creating a new contact. You couldn’t help but notice the amount of contacts with womens names but you brushed it aside. He was older so clearly he knew more people than you.
“5 o’clock work? At the chaplin park?” You nodded with a contained excitement.
“I will see you then, after all your friends can’t stop staring at us. I have an idea.” Before you could ask what, his arm slid behind your shoulders respectfully, as he walked you back to your friends across the street.
The faces they were making were priceless, mouths open in astonishment.
“Hello, sorry for keeping Y/N from you. I couldn’t help but take an interest in your fascinating friend and I couldn’t have her crossing the street alone, you never know what type of men are out on the streets. Enjoy the rest of your night, I will see you saturday.” He placed a gentle kiss on the top of your hand that almost had your eyes fluttering to the back of your head.
His lips felt warm, and soft when they touched you skin just how you imagined.
Butterflies formed in your stomach as the man abid you a do, fading in the distance of the crowd of people.
You were in disbelief that such a handsome, well dressed man asked you out on a date, the very first.
You and your friends stayed chatting the rest of the night wanting the full details and you attempted to explain in a collected way but you had your moments of excitement.
~
When saturday rolled around, your stomach felt like it was in knots, your nerves building more and more until you pulled into the park.
You were about to text him what kind of car he was driving and to your surprise you glanced up and noticed him stepping out of a car that was clearly brand new, as it shined with luxurious features.
Your jaw wanted to drop but instead you checked yourself once more in the mirror, still not being able to see what he could possibly want with a lower class woman like yourself.
The wind blew threw his hair as he walked toward your car, his hair flowing ever so slightly from the small breeze, the sun shining straight into his crystal blue eyes, it was like a scene out of a movie.
Internally you felt like you were going to combust inside when he reached your door opening it for you.
“Hi, how’ve you been?” He asked as if you hadn’t been texting constantly leading up to this very moment.
He extended his hand like the first day he met you, assisting you out of your old piece of junk car, to which he seemed not to care or notice.
“I’ve been good, dealing with school and bills, y’know?” You laughed anxiously, and concern seemed to etch it’s way through his face slightly. Not from how you were acting but the possibility of your financial woes being terrible. It wasn’t safe.
“So how old are you? I know you must be over eighteen if you’re in college.” You nodded as the two of you began walking toward a trail.
“Oh I’ve just turned twenty about a month ago, you?” Cillian couldn’t stop himself from whole heartedly laughing, holding his stomach.
“My dear I’m forty-seven, nonetheless that doesn’t change my interest in you. Tell me about yourself, please.”
“Well I’ve just begun college, I’m very close with my family and I know you may not believe it but I’ve never had a boyfriend, yet alone been asked out.” Cillian stopped you mid stride, acting like he was in disbelief when in reality he could tell from the awkwardness, and the way you seemed embarrassed to be yourself, that’s where he had an advantage. He wasn’t attracted to you solely based off looks, it was your mannerisms the way you still seemed so new to adulthood he’d be your first relationship and he was getting to that age where he was looking to settle down.
“If I may, those bloats who didn’t ask you on a date are quite idiotic but I suppose that’s a grand thing or else I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to meet such a smart, young woman.” He knew how to charm, smirking to himself when he watched your rosy cheeks blush.
The two of you walked, chatting about where you were from, your family life, difference in childhoods and upbringing, hobbies. All of the starter conversations to get to know somebody.
Much to your surprise he lived in Dublin and he was in the states because of work which you hadn’t asked about quite yet, but it obviously paid him well.
The thought that he could be gone tomorrow though worried you, were you already going to experience heartbreak so soon? Why did he ask you on a date, and hint at multiple dates.
You stopped near a fenced off area right above a cliff, the two of you alone together taking in the scenery, listening to the humming of birds and the wind.
Beyond the cliff displayed a different part of the forest, a pond in the center of it fulfilled with ducks swimming peacefully whilst deer lay contently a few meters away from the pond. The clear blue sky and the sun shining down on the animals painted a beautiful picture that took your breath away, and brought you both a sense of peace as you enjoyed a moment of silence
His hand brushed against your arm, causing you to turn to him in your giddy state.
His arms opened unexpectedly and awaited for the motion to be corespondent.
When you had leaned into his touch he was warm, smelling of ivory and teakwood as he held you innocently from behind, warming your body with that butterfly feeling, the knots slowly dissipating.
His arms curled around your stomach contently and for some reason it almost felt right.
After the few moments of silence you broke away, ready to walk again.
“Well what about you? What do you do for a living?” You began walking once more through the dirt trail inbetween the trees.
He inhaled deeply feeling refreshed that a woman he was interested in knew nothing of his existence.
“I know you may not believe it and I urge you not to run to the internet and research but I’m an actor. I make decent money and I enjoy my job very much just not the public part.” Your eyebrows furrowed together in disbelief but your parents always raised you not to judge a book by it’s cover, not to make assumptions and really get to know a person first.
“Do you have to travel a lot?”
“I do but I’ve really been wanting to settle down and here you are. You really caught my eye Y/N. The first glance I was at a loss for words and had to grow the strength in me to ask you on a date. I hope my career doesn’t steer you away, I may travel but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t bring you. Of course there would be circumstances where I can’t.” Sure, you completely understood that. A part of you couldn’t help but want to be indulged in his world, and have a partner to travel the world with.
“Well, I have always wanted to see the world, and I really want to say I wouldn’t rush to the internet. That wouldn’t be me getting to know you it would be others telling me what they think about a person they’ve never met.” He nodded gracefully, his dimples appearing softly on his delicate cheeks as a small smile crept onto his face.
The rest of the walk the minutes turned into hours where you both discussed insecurities, fears, hopes and dreams and the conversation seemed to lead itself which was a good sign to you that made you feel hopeful that maybe this would go somewhere as did he.
~
The next few months you had found yourself living with Cillian in his house in Dublin that probably was worth more than your college tuition combined with everything you’ve ever owned in life.
Maybe you should’ve put more thought into it before making such a drastic life decision but any reason you came up with not to move out of the country Cillian seemed to have a better response and solution to your worries, giving you no reason to decline.
The first month he bought you a car, and insisted on paying for your insurance and college tuition. He was patient, driving you around town and the outstanding areas to help you get to know the area. As much as you tried to decline his financial help he wouldn’t take no for an answer. You were beyond grateful and he held up to his word that he would take you traveling when he could.
The biggest problem you seemed to face together so far was your parents, who did not approve of this relationship whatsoever.
Your mom was overly concerned you were falling for Cillian too quickly, and made comments here and there about how a man in his line of work wanted one thing and that was a playmate for when they were bored.
Your father hadn’t liked him for some of the same reasons and he pointed out your finances worried him. Allowing Cillian to take over your bills, and transfer them to his name was beyond stupid he thought because what if you guys got into a disagreement? What if he decided to stop paying them. He also did not want his celebrity status to change your thoughts or the way you acted, he didn’t want you to feel like you had to pretend to be somebody you weren’t.
The only one thing that your parents seemed to agree with was when they met Cillian he was very polite, didn’t disclose any form of pda. He even shook your father’s hand, and went on calling them both maam and sir and offered to pay the bill for dinner but when they declined he didn’t push any further as he didn’t want to offend them.
It was a small stepping stone that you’d cross and bare through together.
His parents were actually quite lovely, and adored you and your American accent.
They wanted to know all about you, and kept asking Cillian where he had been hiding you. To them age was just a number and love was love, you couldn’t put a price on that.
The days he was away filming he would facetime you at the end of the day, answering any questions or concerns you might have and offer any help he could to ensure your safety, happiness, and peace.
He even helped you in school where he could, he was quite intelligent.
He truly was the man of your dreams and would surprise you when he’s away with lavish gifts and respected your wishes to wait until marriage to have sex.
He never brought it up after that, and as far as your worries about the women in his contacts he had introduced you to each and every one as they were all either family members or directors and producers, some co-stars that he worked with and nothing seemed inappropriate or bothered you.
It was almost like you were living in a fairytale.
~
It had only been three months into the relationship when Cillian decided to take the next step and now here he was at dinner with you and your family once more, awaiting for the right moment to talk to your parents privately.
When he was filming in Birmingham, he had took the time to look for a ring, a twenty four karat ring at that, it was silver and had an almost blush pink diamond heart in the center of it. How much he’d spent he’d keep to himself.
When you excused yourself to the restroom Cillian took this as the opportunity to do so.
“I um- I have a topic of conversation I’ve been wanting to discuss with the both of you and I think now would be a great time.” Your mother cut into her steak, prodding him to go on while your dad was pouring himself a glass of wine and raised his eyebrows.
“I want to ask Y/N to marry me, with your blessing of course.” Your mother nearly choked on her food and your father set the bottle down rather aggressively before answering almost instantly.
“No. You absolutely do not have our blessing.” Cillian’s tongue roamed to the side of his cheek as he looked between the both of them slightly irritated but hiding it.
“I don’t understand you won’t allow me to take your daughter’s hand in marriage. Why is that? If you don’t mind me asking?” Cillian was at a crossroads, his thumb dragging across his bottom lip in confusion of where he could have possibly went wrong that your parents would not like him.
“You’re nearly thirty years older than my daughter. This is just a phase, she has a career, a whole life to live and you think I’m going to allow her to throw it away for some actor who moved her across the world?” Ah, so that’s what this was, it had nothing to do with how well he treated you, but it had to do with the components that shouldn’t matter.
“Sir, with all do respect. I’m paying for her college tuition now. Am I not?” Your father went silent, taking a sip from his glass of wine while your mother was holding her tongue.
“I have a roof over her head, I bought her a reliable, safe car and I love her very much. She’s an adult she could have said no to moving in with me. Our age and my career should have nothing to do with the fact that I’m in love with your daughter and she’s in love with me much to your dismay.” Your father went to speak but stopped when they heard the bathroom door open.
When you approached the table it was clear something was said, and you assumed it to be your dad. “Is everything alright?” You took your seat next to Cillian once more and he settled his hand on top of yours in front of your parents tracing your fingers delicately.
“Everything’s great love, your father was just saying how proud of you he is. You know going to school, focusing on your career, finding a man who cares and supports you.”
The night went on swimmingly to your knowledge and you finally felt as if there was some peace between your relationship and family. All you’d ever wanted was for your parents to be proud of you and see you for your accomplishments. Though there may had been a rough patch once Cillian came into the picture it seemed like the pieces were finally starting to come together as a whole.
~
Becoming more impatient by the minute with your parents, as much as he wanted their approval he’d realized he wasn’t going to obtain it anytime in the near future. So he took matters into his own hands.
“You all packed love?” You nodded excitedly, rushing over to him, pulling him into a death grip of a hug, trying your best not to break him.
“I can’t believe we’re going to Bali, I’ve been wanting to go my whole life! And now I can go with a person I love very much. I just feel bad I couldn’t really pitch in with the funds.” You mumbled against his chest those last few words.
Cillian rolled his eyes, gently tearing you off of him forcing you to lock eyes with him.
“Darling, I love you. I want you to focus on your school so you can get the degree in the field you love. I have more than enough money for the both of us so please, let me spoil my princess as I adore to.” You leaned up kissing him softly on the lips in a deep passionate kiss, but pulled away as your standards for yourself still remained, not until marriage.
“Now let’s go before we miss our private flight.” You followed his lead and he insisted on carrying your suitcases.
The flight was rather long and Cillian couldn’t help but notice the position you had fallen asleep in on the love seat.
Your legs were spread open, breasts flowing freely almost slipping from your tanktop. He didn’t know how much longer he’d last not having sex.
He need to have sex, he needed to be inside you. He groaned and readjusted himself when you shifted in your sleep, worried that you’d wake up and see his hardened member forming a wet spot on his pants.
The perks of being a celebrity was he could get anyone he wanted, and though he liked the hard to get act, it was getting old for him.
The sun was setting when you finally arrived, Cillian waking you up sweetly with a kiss to your temple.
After he gave you a moment to wake up he guided you to your destination.
Unlocking the door, if eyes could drool yours would be at this very moment.
There was a skylight in the ceiling, a coy pond directly in the center of your private living space, the water reflecting off the moonlight that was making it’s way in.
The sounds of nature was all you could hear, there was no television or phones, just you and Cillian in a complete, fairytale like oasis.
The house he had rented was say directly at the top of a hill, with a view of the ocean, the sounds of the waves suddenly making you feel tired once more.
“Oh my gosh, this is lovely! This is beautiful Cilly!” As long as you were happy that was all that matters, that was all he needed for his proposal to work in his favor.
~
The following morning you had awoke to smell of bacon and eggs, the fresh summer breeze blowing in gently through the opened doorway.
When you walked toward the smell that lead you to the kitchen, was dressed with an almost too elegant tablecloth. All of your favorite fruits and foods on display while he was finishing the rest of breakfast. “Good morning sweetheart, I hope the mimosas are to your liking.” You tiptoed toward him, wrapping your arms around his torso from behind, placing a sweet chaste kiss on his warm neck.
“How did I get so lucky?”
“Come.” He walked you out toward the balcony and you found yourself unable to stop smiling, one thing Cillian was very good at was surprises, he had never gotten you something you hadn’t loved or talked about.
“Don’t open them yet.” He released you, watching your shielded eyes carefully, making sure you don’t sneak a peak.
Checking his attire, he patted down his shirt before getting down on one knee, retrieving the expensive ring from within his pocket.
He took a deep breath, putting on his charm as he decided in his head on what act would be best to get you to say yes, though he really believed there was no chance of you turning him down in the little amount of time it took for him to have you wrapped around his finger.
“Open your eyes love.”
You gasped in surprise, your hand coming up to cover your lips in disbelief as your eyes glistened in the sunshine, purely lovestruck.
“Y/N L/N, would you do me the honour of taking my last name and becoming my beautiful, beloved wife?” Tears of happiness crept through your eyes, spilling down your cheeks as you stared into his ocean eyes, glancing back down at the silver, magnanimous diamond ring.
“Yes! Yes a million times yes!” He smiled widely as his arm moved, his fingers curling around the ring carefully taking the expensive ring out of it’s snug place in the box before placing it delicately onto your finger.
His hands lay gently on your hips as he stood up, caressing your tear stained cheeks
~
Your parents never responded to the wedding invitation and Cillian could tell it was breaking your heart. Scooping you up from where you sat on the sofa, he pulled you into his loving arms, caressing your back gently as you cried into his shoulder.
“Darling, they’ll come around. They will.” In his mind, he didn’t understand how your parents could be so cruel, and block your number, not even willing to support you on one of the biggest moments in your life, the number one thing most women looked forward to and he was going to use that to his advantage.
Your tears began to form a small puddle in the crook of his neck, dampening the shirt he was wearing but he didn’t mind.
“Hey.” He spoke with sincerity, pushing you softly away from him so you were still sitting on his lap, but facing him.
“Oh, my love.” His eyebrows furrowed together with a pained expression as his thumb glided over you teary cheeks once he saw your face.
“Don’t let them ruin this okay? They will realize how much they’re hurting you, we just have to be patient, alright?” You nodded, attempting to stop from crying.
He watched you with endearing eyes, hands still placed on your cheeks.
Your chest was beginning to fall back to a normal pace as his touch and loving words were beginning to calm you down immensely.
“And if they don’t come around, well fuck them. If they don’t want you to be happy and can’t put our differences aside, maybe it’d be better off to not have them in your life sweetheart. You’ll always have my parents who love you very much.” Maybe he was right, maybe you did have terrible parents. How could a father not want to walk his daughter down the aisle on the most important day of her life and how could your mother not be excited for you, surely she was excited and had help and support when she married your father.
Regardless you knew Cillian’s parents would always be there and maybe this was for the best.
~
Within the following weeks Cillian hired an assistant to help you plan out the wedding that was set for June so everything would be to your standards.
He needed you to have the perfect day, for everything to be exactly how you visioned.
Walking in the door he noticed you were seated comfortably at the kitchen island, three boards layed out in front of you with different color schemes and a notebook.
“I’m home love.” He approached you from behind, smelling of mint and cashmere as he settled a kiss on top of your head.
“How is the wedding planning going?” Cillian himself couldn’t deny your creativity, all three boards looked amazing and it wasn’t difficult to see the amount of time you spent on them.
“Well, everything is about settled, I can’t believe how fast we planned all of this, it almost seemed to easy but maybe it’s just because I know what I want and love, just like how I feel for you.” He hummed adoringly against your head.
“Well if you’re struggling I like the third one, seems more subtle.” Even though you were leaning more toward the second you followed his word. Aside from the fact he was older he probably knew more about planning and such big events more than you did.
~
When June rolled around, you stared in the mirror, waiting for your cue to walk down the aisle.
Nerves were getting the best of you and your emotions seemed to be scattered. It was hard to imagine you were about to marry the love of your life and no one you knew other than Cillian’s family and friends were attending.
Yes, they loved you deeply but a part of you still had wished your family at least would have set their differences aside to be here for you on your big day.
Instead they’d be sitting at home probably renovating your room, or out with friends anything to take their mind off of their disappointment of a daughter.
“Y/N, they’re ready.”
When you walked out, the sight of Cillian stood at the altar nearly took your breath away as he stood, watching you in awe but kept his emotions in tact.
His hands stayed folded in front of him while a soft smile spread across his lips.
Your bridesmaids ended up being a few of his cousins who also didn’t know you very well but they had been very supportive and you couldn’t have been more grateful.
~
Every morning since you stared at your ring in awe but it seemed like Cillian had become distant. It had now been a month since you were married and anytime you brought it up to him it was dismissed that you were overthinking.
What had you done wrong? Why wasn’t he as loving anymore? Was it something you said? Were you too immature?
It was all to much and was tiring you out having this constant anxiety around him, thinking you’d done something terrible or he was going to ask for a divorce.
He went as far too sleep in the spare room now, every once in awhile asking for sex but you still hadn’t felt comfortable just yet and that annoyed Cillian very much. How was he supposed to get off, expect to be loyal to you when you won’t make love with him. That was his problem he wasn’t patient anymore and always seems to be in a bad mood, especially when you wore revealing clothing on vacation or just around the house.
He still stayed paying all of your bills but he insisted that college wasn’t necessary anymore, why did you need it when you had him? Why did you need a social life when you had him?
The topic wasn’t up for debate in your eyes so he let it go.
Awaking from your nap, you didn’t hear the television anymore, had he left you alone there?
Furrowing your eyebrows in confusion, you reached to the bedside table for your phone to call him but your hand grasped nothing but air.
Stepping down from the bed, your feet patted on the floor, your fuzzy socks keeping them warm from the hardwood floor.
Stumbling into the living room you spotted Cillian seated on the sofa, reading a book while your phone lay unlocked and open besides him.
“Is everything okay?”
“I don’t know you tell me.” When he spoke his tone was low to the point that you could tell something was wrong, he was upset with you.
“Cillian, what’s wrong?” As you sat down on the comforting cushion, reaching for your phone he pulled it away from you, holding it away almost as if it were a toy.
“Who’s Christian, and why do you have plans with him tonight? You didn’t even bother to ask me.” Ask him? Why would you need to have his approval to make plans with your friends. You could see why he’d be bothered he’s a male friend of yours that he hadn’t met yet, closer to your age, and you couldn’t introduce him tonight since he had a press conference to attend.
“He’s in my forensics class, he’s really kind and I was planning on introducing you to him and-“
“When? Because you’ve been chatting for weeks, never heard you bring up this man’s name once.” He stood up from the couch, tossing his book on the table as he strode annoyed to the kitchen.
You were at a loss for words but still found yourself following him like a lost puppy, worried for your marriage.
“Cillian I-“
“You’re not going. I hope you can realize how inappropriate this is. Did you even think about me and the way I would feel. I’m a high profiled person Y/N, far more older than you and my career loves to prod at our marriage. You being out with him alone in public, while I’m at a conference, what do you think that’s going to do to my reputation. Or did your mindless twenty year old brain not think that far.” You crossed your arms defeatedly. Maybe he had a point, you didn’t stop to think about the career or the press, you’d forgotten that you were married to a celebrity, one that does not like his personal life being involved with the public.
“You’re right. I’m sorry, I guess I’m still learning how to adjust to publicity, and just being married in general. You know you are my first relationship Cillian.” His mood changed, his shoulders unstiffening as he slid your phone back to you over the countertop.
“I think it’d be best to delete your social media.” You nodded in agreement but your brain was telling you not to abide by his rules or feelings. You were still young but maybe he had a point that this was just some young, silly phase that you needed to grow out of.
If you were old enough for marriage you surely didn’t need social media, but were you ready to delete everything you knew?
Glancing up at him, he watched you intently, his arms crossed while he leaned back against the refrigerator.
You tapped on your phone deleting the applications, showing Cillian the screen once you were done.
“Satisfied?” He smiled gracefully, his demeanor now seemed calm as he came up behind you, wrapping his arms almost too tightly around your waist.
“I am, now how about we go to the wardrobe and see what gown we can find for you tonight eh? Does that sound good?” He snuggled his nose into the crook of your neck, one of your many tickle spots causing you to giggle and nuzzle back against him, completely ignoring what had just happened.
~
Taking a seat at your table as the questions went by for the new season of Peaky Blinders, your phone vibrated on the table. While Tom was answering a question Cillian’s eyes glanced down at the notification, his jaw tightening when he saw it was Christian once more, asking for an answer on a time.
Noticing his reaction anxiety filled your chest and you tried your best to act like nothing was happening just as he was.
Folding his hands underneath his chin, he settled his attention back on the people, smiling respectfully as if he saw nothing like the flick of a switch.
The tension was clear that there would be an argument when you arrived home.
The rest of the night Cillian charmed his way through, acting calm and collected, talking with such charisma you were starting to wander in your mind of what the argument was even about.
There were a few questions here and there about your marriage to which Cillian would simply respond with, “She’s always been my number one supporter and we look forward to our future together. That’s all I have to say.” He politely disregarded the age difference questions, or any questions that involved anything other than the show at hand.
He kept his pda to a minimum not going any further than his arms behind your shoulder or settled innocently on your side.
He really was a private man and would go to any extent to keep it that way.
~
The ride home his demeanor had changed, he didn’t talk to you once, nor did he even take one singular glance your way. Even when you attempted conversation you got nothing in return. You felt at a disadvantage, like you were messing up your marriage.
Maybe you weren’t mature enough just yet, maybe you did jump in too fast, you still hadn’t given in to your word about sex yet and it had been a month you’ve been officially married. What if he found it elsewhere? What if he thinks you’re finding it elsewhere, possibly with Christian. Anxiety fulfilled you entirely, the fear of losing Cillian worried you, how were you supposed to live without him in your life? How would you pay your bills when you hadn’t been working? Was he going to ask for a divorce?
Putting the car in park, he stepped out of the car, walking rather hurriedly to your side, opening the door and grasping your forearm forcing you out and inside the house. He was beginning to frighten you as he had never handled you with such violence before.
Once the door closed behind you couldn’t stop the tears from brimming at your eyelids.
“Why is he still texting you? Hm? I thought we were past this?” You sucked up your tears and tried your best to hold them back as you tossed your purse onto the sofa.
“Cillian I told you he’s just a friend! I want you to meet him please! I haven’t talked to my friends from home since we began dating and he’s the only friend I have made out here! I-“ He silenced you by putting his hand, before approaching you slowly, determination and anger filling his eyes.
“No, no. Listen to me, when guys have friends that are girls, they want them to believe that they’d never fuck them when in reality they’re only friends with you so they can be the first one to swoop you up and spread your legs to make you fell better when a relationship falls a part. This isn’t a relationship this is a marriage and I’ll be damned if this little fucker thinks that he has a chance with you when you won’t even give in to me when I’ve given you absolutely everything!” His words struck a nerve and you hated that when you were mad or angry you’d begin to cry.
You turned your back on him, heading toward the bedroom to where he followed you instantly.
“May I need not remind you it is my name on that car, it is my bank account connected to your college funding, you are on my health insurance and you wouldn’t be able to afford any of it without me. Block his number and get rid of him, it’s the least you can do when I have done so much more for you!” When you didn’t budge you stared at him blankly, not recognizing who he was anymore.
This wasn’t the Cillian you had fallen in love with, this wasn’t the kind, respectable man who claimed to love you.
His eyebrows raised expectantly glancing down at the phone in your hand. When you didn’t do anything but stand there like a child who had just gotten yelled at and told no, he decided that enough was enough.
Walking forward, each step contained an enormous amount of fury as he snatched the phone from your hands. When you attempted to reach for it he grabbed your wrist, gripping the skin tightly to where you knew not to fight him.
Opening the conversation, he paid close attention to the emojis and noting the sentences this man has said to you.
“Hope you’ve had a great day🥰”
“Just checking in on you.”
“I assume we need to reschedule our study date for another time then.”
Then the final one that really made him upset, the one he sent at the conference.
“Please check in with me so I know you’re doing well, I want to make sure you do great on this test😊”
He scoffed and laughed darkly in disbelief before his eyes reverted back to you.
“Well why don’t we get rid of your little boy toy here for good, shall we?” Before you had time to react he turned you around, forcefully bending you over the bed onto the satin sheets.
“I-I’m not ready, please, Cillian don’t do this!” His mind was too far gone. He had resisted temptation for too long, the way you dressed and talked like nothing you did affected him.
He knew you wouldn’t tell anyone, who could you tell? Your friends were convinced you left them in the dust as you hadn’t talked to them in almost a year, your parents wanted nothing to do with you once you married him and went to the lengths of blocking your number. He had you solely isolated and reliant on him, emotionally, financially, and now sexually. You just didn’t know that last part quite yet.
He slid your dress up harshly revealing the tight, nearly see through black panties you were wearing, that hugged your ass cheeks tightly, holding your pussy snuggly in the fabric.
The phone was tossed to the side, you could hear the screen shattering on the floor as he stepped on it with hatred.
“I did my waiting. I’ve given you anything and everything you’ve ever wanted and it is my turn to receive some pleasure from this marriage.” His knee came up, pushing your legs a part, resting against your heat. As one of his hands held your small wrists in a grip that you knew you wouldn’t be able to wiggle out of.
His free hand undid his belt, the sound forcing tears to escape your tired eyes.
“What kind of a wife do you think you are? Because it’s not what one should be. Hiding other men from me, galloping around like you don’t owe me any pleasure or respect.” His armed swayed back, and down again the harsh leather slapping loudly against your sensitive, delicate skin, forcing a cry to escape from your lips.
Another painful bow after another one and it brought him enjoyment to see you suffering beneath him, crying relentlessly as your ass cheeks turned a deep shade of red.
The endless lashing as he spewed venom above had your chest rising and falling dramatically from the harsh reality this is whom you chose to marry. Your parents were right, you weren’t mature enough for marriage you weren’t ready for such a commitment and now you had no way out.
Flipping you over onto your back, his hand gripped your side, pulling your body aggressively toward him.
His member released from underneath the smooth fabric if his pants, popping up against his chest effortlessly.
He was big, surely that wouldn’t fit in you would it?
Grasping at the sheets, attempting to get away from him his nails dug into your hips.
“I thought you’d like this Y/N, you crave attention from other men, anyone who would give you the time of the day. You’re nothing but a tease, a slut. Thinking you could disrespect me eh?” His hair hung over his forehead as his animalistic nature took over his entire being.
The sight of your young, beautiful, unflawed body sent thrills up his spine, his adrenaline pumping through his veins knowing that he’d be the only man able to take your virginity.
The one whom claimed your innocence the day he layed his frigid eyes on yours.
He groaned in pleasure while you screamed as he pulled you down onto his rather large length forcefully, taking the breath from your lungs as your eyes widened.
Your eyes never left him, gazing at the man you know longer knew in a pained expression.
“My, my Mrs. Murphy, what a delicacy you are.” He pumped slowly in and out of you as you lay frozen, your stomach in knots.
“Why- why are you doing this to me?” If you had ever questioned if he was taking advantage of your age and the pure ignorance to all of the signs, you were sure now.
His tongue swiped over his bottom lip before biting agonizingly slow on his bottom lip, watching your not so innocent pussy suck his length in and slide back out, the tightness warming his cock.
He didn’t respond to you as he fucked into you raw, and mercilessly watching your tits bounce aggressively up and down, he knew he wouldn’t last long with an untouched, young body like yours.
His hands gripped your hips vigorously as you cried knowing you’d be unable to stop this from happening.
“I won’t have my wife being a fucking whore, the only thing you can be a whore for is my cock. If I find you talking to that little friend of yours again I’ll just have to try that back entrance I suppose.”
Your hands curled in the sheets as he towered over you, he could feel your slick start to warm up his cock even more, your walls tightening around his length involuntarily.
His thighs started to twitch and you knew what was about to happen.
“Cil-Cillian don’t!” But it was too late, his moans filled the bedroom as he shot his load up into your tight tunnel of ecstacy, his cock popping out of you.
You curled in on yourself completely petrified of the abusive nature Cillian contained.
When his hands settled on your hip, your body flinched away from his touch but he didn’t care.
“Pretty soon we’ll have our own little Murphy won’t we darling?” He exited the room and you heard the shower click on, you stared at the bathroom not daring to get up, the pain he inflicted in your most private area never going away, you were a battered wife.
~
The following month you had missed your period just as Cillian had planned.
He knew your weakness was the chance of being a mother, and you found yourself staying with him in hopes he’d change.
You never told a single soul about what he had done in fear of his high society status and the powerful people he knew that would turn your truth into lies to the public, making everyone hate you. No fan of Cillian’s would believe you, nor would his family and friends.
He’d leave you with absolutely nothing and for you to find your own way home, but what was home anymore? Your friends hated you, your family disapproved of your life you had nobody back in the states and Cillian surely would not claim to be the father of this child, giving you no support.
The first love you experienced, the first man who showed you attention was now your keeper.
To the public he was an innocent, charming, respectful, charismatic man, he would never do such awful acts to a woman.
Walking into the room pulling you away from the worrisome, intrusive though, Cillian came up behind you dressed in a suit and tie ready to head to the Oppenheimer premiere.
“You look dazzling my darling.” His hand cupped your now very visible bump, as he kissed your neck lovingly, softly. Something you had missed.
Tonight would be the first night you’d be in public since finding out you’re pregnant which you thought rather odd Cillian even invited you to go, due to the fact that this is his private life.
Escorting you out of the room, he opened the car door for you gracefully and when he settled his hand atop of yours you couldn’t help but shutter, still not being completely over what he did.
Once in front of the cameras you stuck on your happy face as Cillian played the devoted, caring husband part by assisting you out of the car, not once letting go of your hand.
His lips closed in, leaning ever so closely to your ear just barely touching your skin as he spoke forebodingly in your ear.
“Smile my darling, smile for the cameras.”
Part V | Part VII
Irene and Ellen bid you goodnight and left. You were determined to stay up tonight. It had been weeks since the night you spent in your husband's room, without even catching a glimpse of him. Maybe it was only because he was a very first person, a very first male who was nice to you. He was also your husband, a person you were bound to for the rest of your life because unlike human, Fae usually didn't get divorced. That made him the closest person you had at the moment, your family. It was natural that you wanted to see him, spend some time in his presence, hear his voice. The fact that you were attracted to him, was a bonus in this case.
However today, you had more than this one reason to see him. You wanted to thank him for a beautiful flower that he left for you that morning and mainly for the book that now rested on a coffee table next to the crystal vase.
You were full of nervous energy. Part of the night you spent by reading, forcing yourself to sit calmly, but when you became drowsy, you put the book down and started to pace around the room. The longest you'd managed to stay up so far, was until the midnight. Apparently that wasn't long enough. You wondered what time he actually went to bed every night and what he could do so long.
The clock in the sitting room struck midnight. You were standing by the window, partly hidden behind the open curtains, arms wrapped around your chest as it was quite cold. All lights were turned off, yet it wasn't completely dark and you could easily move around without ramming into furniture. You were looking out at stars. They shone so brightly tonight that whole garden bathed in their dim silver light, allowing you to recognise shapes of different plants and guarding soldiers. The night sky was so beautiful and peaceful, milliards of twinkling lights and full moon fascinated you. A shooting star cut across the sky when the doors of your room quietly opened.
You turned around in time to be met with your husband's startled expression. He stood there, brows furrowed, hand still on the handle, lips slightly parted.
"I.. I.." He seemed to be short for words.
"I was waiting for you, my Lord," you bowed, your cheeks turning pink.
Searching for the words, he looked back to the sitting room, then back at you. He looked exhausted, completely burned out. He was pale like a ghost with dark cycles under eyes, his shirt full of wrinkles and half of buttons undone. His red hair was longer than before, bound on the nape of his neck. Even in this miserable state, he was still very attractive. So attractive that your pulse quickened.
He cleared his throat, looking anywhere but you. "I didn't mean to disturb you. I thought you were already sleeping." Even his deep voice was tired and hoarse. He was about to leave. You had to stop him.
"I wanted to.. see you and express my gratitude to you," you whispered shyly.
"Eh.. That isn't necessary. You should go to bed. It's late." He turned around, ready to close the doors.
"Is that for me?"
He halted, his eyes fell to the flower in his hand. "Err.. Yes.. I- I thought you would like it." Was it just an optical illusion or did his cheeks really turned pink slightly?
You shyly took a step into the room. Eris hesitated for a moment, then closed the doors and stepped closer. His warm long fingers graced over yours as he handed it to you. This time he brought you a deep red anemone, a symbol of anticipation and expected love. Was it really just a coincidence? You believed it less and less. You couldn't suppress the happy smile, the warmth exploded from your heart, spreading to the rest of your body.
"It's beautiful, my Lord," you breathed out.
"Just Eris. Have you forgotten?"
"How could I? It's my favourite memory," shaking your head, you admitted with a trembling voice. "I would like to thank you for the other one and especially for the book. How did you know..?"
"I heard you enjoy going for the walks and particularly took interest in the flowers. So I thought you would like to read more about them."
"It's so interesting book, fascinating and the illustrations.. I'm so grateful."
"I'm glad you like it," he ran hand through his already messy hair.
His eyes fell to the mentioned book and he picked it up. "I'll have to get you new one soon," he chuckled, noticing the temporary bookmark made of hair pin.
"You could?"
"Sure." He returned the book back on the table.
"It's really late. We both should sleep," he sighed, looking at the bed longingly.
It was now or never kind of situation and you had to at least give it a try. You inhaled deeply, gathering the courage.
"Do you-... Why don't you-.. Would you sleep here tonight, Eris?" You were too scared to meet his eyes, afraid to see the rejection or even worse, the disgust or the scorn in them. You heard him inhale sharply, his fingers twitched. He stayed silent for several heart beats. You already wanted to take that offer back when he finally spoke.
"I-.." He shifted his weight and cleared his throat. "I guess I could. Just give me a minute."
Eris stopped at doors, glancing at you once more with a blank expression and furrowed brows as if he couldn't believe you really suggested that and he was gone. Your legs almost buckled under you in relief, but there was no time for that now. You ran to mirror to check your appearance. Smoothing down your nightgown and hair, you returned to your place near the window, suddenly getting butterflies in your stomach. You bit on your lower lip, hardly suppressing the smile. He would spend night with you.
You little bit jumped in surprise when he returned in less than ten minutes, water dripping from the ends of his wet hair. In one smooth motion his ran his hands through those red strands, drying them. You watched it in a daze, forgetting even how to breathe. Then he simply wiped hands into his sweatpants and finished buttoning clean white shirt. Unlike you, he seemed to be utterly unaffected by the situation.
"So.. can we?" he gestured to the bed, that cold, guarded mask he showed in public on his face.
He. Was. Here. In your room. Getting ready to sleep in your bed. You still couldn't believe that he agreed so easily and without any mean remark.
You followed him, smiling happily. Eris slipped under the covers on the left side of the bed, looking a bit tense as he was lying on his back. You took the right side, facing him. Strangely, you weren't scared of him and what he could do to you now.
"How was your day?" you whispered into the darkness of the room. You wanted to hear his voice at least one more time even if he would just tell you to let him sleep.
Gazing at ceiling, he didn't answer right away. "I had a lot of paperwork and meetings. This court is a total mess. Father wasn't the best ruler. I guess that it'll take me years to right the things and change everything to better," as he spoke he slowly relaxed.
You dared to move closer to his arm, your hand found his. Sweet smell of roasted apples and cinnamon filled your lungs mixed with some alcohol and you moaned softly. Had he drunk before he decided that he had enough of work for today and it's time to call it a night? You didn't noticed it before, but he wasn't so close then. For a brief moment you forgot your place and all you were taught, and you spoke freely as you did with Ellen and Irene.
"It must have been so hard. You look so exhausted. You shouldn't forget to take good care of your health, too."
You saw as his eyes widened and immediately regretted your mistake. Your heart painfully throbbed in your chest, cold sweat running down your spine. You, a female, dared to suggest to a male what he should do. You dreaded that this time you really overstepped that invisible line of his patience, that you insulted him. However, Eris just began laughing. Its rich sound echoed in the silent room and warmed your heart.
"Yeah, I'm dead. I would welcome a day off." He also rolled to his side, facing you. His dimly shining amber eyes roamed over your face, kind smile playing on his lips. "Thanks to you I feel better now."
His finger lightly brushed over your cheek and jaw, then traced the line of your lips. Your heart skipped several beats. "Tell me, are you used to this place yet? Is there something you need?"
"I have all I need. Thank you."
"Well, almost.." you added after a while. You were definitely trying your luck tonight.
"Almost?" His brow raised.
"Yes." You again considered it and then shook your head. It would be too much to ask from him, especially after he admitted he is too busy. "No, it's nothing."
"Tell me," he bade you, his head raised from a pillow.
"It would be too much to ask for.." you shifted uncomfortably, regretting that you mentioned it.
"That's for me to decide, don't you think?" He seemed to be displeased.
You silently watched him for a while, then submitted.
"I'd like to see you more often.." you muttered. His eyes widened, lips slightly parted. "I know you are too busy.. I shouldn't have asked for such ridiculous things.. I'm sorry-"
"It's fine," he stopped your ramble abruptly. His features hardened. "I'll try to make time. Now let's sleep. I have early morning."
You gaped at him in disbelieve. He agreed, didn't he. As your system worked through the initial shock, a wave of excitement arose. "Thank you," you moved even closer to him and pecked his cheek. "Good night, Eris. Sweet dreams."
The temperature in the room jumped up for a moment and then returned back to normal.
"Sweet dreams," he repeated, his voice strangely hoarse. His free hand found its way to your waist, gently squeezing it. From all the places where your bodies touched, a pleasant warmth spread all the way to your limbs. Lulled by calming moves of his thumb, you soon fell asleep.
Just two days after that night, giggling Ellen and Irene were leading you through the labyrinth of this castle. It was in the early afternoon, right after the lunch, so you had no idea where you're heading and of course, they didn't give away anything.
They finally stopped before a massive double doors. You'd never been in this part of castle yet and wanted to ask where they took you, but they already opened it and still giggling pushed you in. The doors closed with a loud thud before you could even turn around.
You gaped at place where their faces were mere seconds ago, stunned, then you dared to take a look around finding nothing but shelves and shelves full of books covering every centimetre of walls. A great, detailed map of the world was painted on the ceiling, the air was filled with smell of old parchment and ink.
It took you a while to notice that on the other side of the room, there was a set of comfortably looking armchairs and in one of them was seated Eris. The table in front of him was disappearing under number of heavy tomes. He was reading one of them, but when he heard the noise he looked up. Corners of his mouth curled in satisfied smile as he watched you exploring your surrounding with open mouth. When your eyes met, he put the book down with the others and stood up.
"Hey," he said lowly.
"Good afternoon," you bowed, quickly checking the huge room one more time. It was only the two of you.
Eris cleared his throat. "Since I have some work to do here, I thought you'd like to join me and take a look around. This probably isn't what you meant when you said that you want to see me more often, but.."
"No, I'm happy that I can be here with you," you smiled, your cheeks already heated. You didn't think he would really find time to meet you.
"Let me show you around," he offered and taking your hand Eris explained you what kind of books was where. At last he reached into one of the higher shelves and took out a book.
"I think that this one could be interesting for you." He handed you the old looking book. Herbs and their medical use. You gasped.
"Thank you. It's perfect," you smiled brightly at him.
His tense features softened as his gaze roamed over your happy face. "Let's sit down."
Eris took his previous seat while you sat down across from him. With a small nod, he took book he was reading before and returned to his work, occasionally writing down some notes on piece of paper.
You didn't want to bother him, but you were too excited that he allowed you to spend some time with him and couldn't concentrate on reading at all. Your eyes wandered every now and then to his face. He was frowning at the text in front of him, his face devoid of any emotions. You couldn't but notice a small wrinkle between his brows, your fingers itched with desire to smooth it out.
That nice smile was gone, corners of his plush mouth were twitched downward. He looked as a real High Lord now, powerful, dangerous and laden with the burden of lives that depended on him and his decisions. The amber eyes, much darker and cold now, were darting across the pages, sometimes he muttered under his breath.
His clothes were again wrinkled, the circles under his eyes even darker than the last time you saw him. For the first time you saw him with a fine stubble on his face and you had to admit it suited him, too. His bright red hair was pulled into a messy braid on the nape of his neck. He looked stressed out. You felt sorry for him and wished you could help him.
A few strands of hair slipped out of the braid and fell into his eyes. He pushed them away only for them to fall right back down. He fumed and put them behind his ear.
"Can I?" You timidly stuttered.
He looked up and blinked. "What?"
You fidgeted with your fingers nervously. "I could try to fix your hair for you."
Another pause. "Go ahead then."
Breathing out shakily you stood behind him. He tensed, even stopped breathing as you took the leather cord between your fingers and pulled. Shiny red hair immediately spread over his shoulders. You didn't have comb, so you improvised and carefully dragged your fingers through the silky strands, gently undoing the knots.
While you carefully worked, his shoulders slumped and he completely relaxed. His eyelids drooped and a small moan escaped between his lips.
"Everything all right?"
"Yeah, it's pleasant."
You hummed in answer and in small circles massaged his temples. Groaning, his head fell back.
"That's so good." The scent of apples grew stronger, covering the smell of smoke. "Lately my head is about to explode."
"Something is worrying you?" you asked quietly.
"Too many things, honestly." A small smirk found its way to his face. "Ruling this court is exhausting."
Amber eyes opened and found yours. He was so close you could see all the details you hadn't noticed before. His irises resembled liquid fire. A glow that radiated from them, was dangerous yet it didn't burn you. It felt like gazing into a sun, but you couldn't stop. They captured you in a iron grip, mesmerizing you until you wished you could take away all the worry and tiredness that you saw in those blazing depths.
You probably voiced that thought aloud, because he blinked and broke the connection. "You are already helping me. I feel much better ever since you came."
He straightened up and you blinking shook your head. What was that? It was as if he was inside you, in your head and your heart, as if you felt what he felt for a moment. Such a strange but not unpleasant experience.
You combed his hair with your fingers one more time, gathering the unruly strands. Then you divided them into three sections and braided them, securing it with the leather cord at last.
"It's done," you stepped away and returned to your seat.
Eris reached up and carefully checked your work. He smiled, his eyes avoiding you. Did he feel it too?
"It's much better. Thank you." Without another word he set to work again.
It took you some time to focus on your own book, but once you began reading, it was hard to stop. And even then you often sneaked peeks at your husband, unable to resist the urge to look at him. There was something fascinating about his frown, focused expression and sharp features.
After few hours he closed all the books and with a wave of hand sent them to their places on shelves. He gathered his papers and looked at you.
"I'm sorry, but I have to go. I have meeting in few minutes."
"Thank you very much for allowing me to be with you. I really enjoyed it," you thanked him with a hopeful smile.
"I enjoyed it too. And thanks for this," he gestured to his hair. His features softened as a corner of his lips rose in a one-sided boyish grin.
You stood up, heading for the shelf to return the book.
"You can take it with you if you want. Also, you can come here anytime. It's private library of our family, so nobody should bother you here."
Thanking him you pressed the book to your chest. There was so much you wanted to learn. It was nice to know that your husband supported you in this desire and even gave you a key to freedom to choose what you wanted to learn.
Eris escorted you to the doors of your chambers and before he left, he pecked your cheek while squeezing you in a hug with one arm for a brief moment. As much as it was unexpected, it was pleasant and awoken a different kind of desire in you.
"See you soon," he muttered and quickly marched away. You watched his strong back until he turned the corner and you sincerely wished to see him again very soon.
Two Days Later
With the nights growing colder, the thin blankets that Cade found only did so much. The stained-glass windows of the cathedral no longer seemed beautiful- but more of an annoyance, as the chill air would sweep through the cracked glass.
And in addiction of Cade's snoring, sleep seemed impossible to come. A heavy sigh escaped your lips, eyes rolling a little as you grew bored of staring up at the ceiling, for who knows how long by now.
Sitting up and rubbing your temples, trying to allow your eyes to adjust to the dimly lit darkness. As you carefully exited out of your sleeping bag, trying to disturb the others as little as possible. Hands running along the cold brick walls, while you made your way towards the main hall.
Nerves crawled up your back, as a low rumble echoed through the main hall. Your breath hitching slightly with each step, stopping whenever the low rumble slightly peeked in volume. Moonlight lazily shined through the windows, as the overcast sky slowly cleared.
It’s just Hound. Your thoughts assured, while a suttle sigh of relief left your lungs.
The muscles in your body slightly relaxing, as the sight of the Autobot snoring away teased a smile upon your lips. Tip-toing towards the makeshift table and quietly making a protein shake. A steady breath returned to you, as the dim darkness soon grew on you, making your surroundings somewhat more comfortable.
While taking a few sips from the drink, your head tilted to the side a little, as a familiar shadow fell across the table from outside. Curiosity stirred your thoughts, causing your body to carefully tread towards a large hole in the wall.
“I thought it might have been you.”
Optimus’ optics fell onto you, a small smile spreading across his faceplate. Watching you carefully climb over the lose bricks, with your drink in hand. You approached the mechanical giant, as he sat upon the ground. Leaning against the solid wall of the cathedral.
He felt your eyes study his features, “are you alright, Optimus? You look tired.”
“I’ll be alright, Sweet Spark.” His soothing voice assured, “you do not need to worry about me.-”
“But I do, Optimus.” You shyly admitted, walking towards the gazebo, that still had string lights and fairy lights surrounding it. “Especially what you said earlier.”
You watched his optics quickly avoid your questioning gaze. His helm lowering slightly, as guilt played on his processors and slightly squeezed his Spark. You wasn’t supposed to hear that...
“’What did you mean? ‘You’re done fighting for humans.’ You didn’t mean that... did you?”
“Y/N...” Optimus sighed, hesitating before looking back at you. “How many more of my kind must be sacrificed to atone for your mistakes?”
“What do you think ‘being human’ means?” you questioned. Another arrow of guilt struck Optimus’ core, as his audio receivers detected the underlying hurt within your voice. “That’s what we do, we make mistakes. But sometimes the most amazing things comes from those mistakes.”
You softly bit your bottom lip, fingers playing with the cup as you took a moment.
“When I fixed you... it was for a reward.” The words tasted like poison upon your tounge, as regret slowly squeezed your heart. But at the same time, a sensation of relief washed over you. Like a long bottled-up secret could finally break free. “That was it. That was the only reason why. For the money.”
Optimus slowly turned his attention back onto you, his expression softening as his optics watched a single tear roll down your cheek.
“And that was me making a mistake. But without it, you wouldn’t be here. We wouldn’t be here.”
Reaching out for him, a slight ease relaxed your aching heart as Optimus still welcomed your touch. A loving sigh escaping him, as your delicate fingers ran the back of his servo.
“So... even if you have no faith in us, all I’m asking is you do what Dad taught me and Tessa. Look past all the junk and see the treasures.” Your hand ran up towards his wrist, gently pulling out your iron ring from under his metal plates. “You need to have faith, Prime, in who we can be.”
Optimus’ free servo curled into a relaxed fist, gently using the knuckle of his index digit to brush away a tear from your cheek. His touch feathered down your body, fingertips tracing each and every curve which the Autobot has now memorized. Carefully wrapping it around your waist, picking you up and bringing you closer to his height.
You were just about to say something, but Optimus’ lips lightly pressed against your own. Giving you a passionate kiss, as both closed your eyes, melting into each other's embrace. The cup slipped from your hand, landing upon the ground with a small shatter, while you wrapped both arms around the Autobot’s neck.
“Forgive me, my Sweet Spark.” Optimus pleaded, his kiss trailing down your neck.
“I-I just don’t want to lose you.” you turned your head to the side, giving him more room to kiss your neck.
“You could never lose me-”
The sound of an airplane's engine roared above, causing Optimus to briefly break away. As you both looked up at the night sky, seeing the lights from the metal wings.
“If only wishes could be made upon airplanes, like we do with shooting stars.” You sighed. Only to chuckle a little, that sounded a little corny.
“Why? What would you wish for?”
Your eyes returned to Optimus’ optics, “that we could have a moment of peace, with no interruptions. Just... Just us two being alone.”
“Well... we’re alone now.” The Autobot spoke, the small spark of desire zapping within his core. Causing his processors to stir his mind towards temptation. His thumb gently rubbing small circles upon your lower back.
A flirtatious smile teased the corners of your lips, “then... perhaps we should make the most of it.”
Without hesitation, Optimus’ lips returned to yours. As he carefully laid you upon the curved roof of the gazebo, his free servo trailing down towards the waist band of your PJ bottoms.
“I’ll start slow.” He promised, briefly allowing his lips to part from yours. “If I ever get too much. Please tell me, Sweet Spark.”
You silently nodded, as a small shade of pink dusted your cheeks.
Bringing both servos towards your thighs, massaging the muscles. While he placed passionate kisses along your neck, towards your collarbone. Butterflies disburse in your stomach, as a warming amber begun to flicker within your core.
Hearing your soft moans against his audio processors, heat begun to rise beneath Optimus’ metal plates. The fans in his vents barely able to keep his temperature at bay.
A low sigh escaped your lips, as Optimus’ glossa traced the curves of your cleavage. A shy smile teasing the corners of your mouth, as a satisfied hum rumbled deep within his throat. Hands embracing his helm, as Optimus’ mouth danced over your clothed breasts, softly biting through the fabric, leaving suttle bite marks upon your skin.
“Optimus...”
Your torso rolled and moved against his mouth. Hands exploring the worn parts of his helm, caressing his old battle scars. Your eyes closed, as your head gently rested against the gazebo’s roof.
Your breath hitched slightly, as Optimus’ placed a last kiss upon your hip. The small ambers within your core slowly rolled into a warm flame, once your eyes met his loving gaze. His hands cupping your ass, occasionally giving it a cheeky squeeze, as the desire pulsing through his Spark tore away the remaining pieces of his self-control.
“Don’t stop.” You encouraged, seeing the lust glossing over his optics.
A shaky breath leaving his lips, as you ran your hands towards your clothed core. Feeling Optimus’ digits twitch, as you opened your legs, causing the Autobot to fall onto his knees. His glossa licking his bottom lip, breath hitching as you slowly tugged your bottoms down your hips.
The scent of your arousal drove Optimus into a spin, a burning desire of want pulsing through his wires, as his beating Spark cried for satisfaction.
Sh-She smells so good. His processors teased.
“Th-These... are in the way.” Optimus lowly spoke, his servo’s gently tugging the waistband of your bottoms down a little more.
“Remove them then.”
A breathless gasp escaped you, as the Autobot tore away the clothing along with your laced undergarments. The sound of the tearing fabric leaving your body made your soaked core clench around nothing. As Optimus carelessly threw the items aside, burying his faceplate between your thighs before the clothes could even reach the ground.
Muffled whimpers tried to leave you, as you bit your bottom lip. Body quivering and legs trembling, as Optimus’ glossa caressed your folds. His servos returning to your thighs, gently placing your legs over his shoulders. Before using one of his servos to tease your wet, throbbing entrance.
Your back arched against the roof, a moan slipping from your mouth, as Optimus’ middle digit slowly entered your sweet spot. The satisfied growl coming from the back of the Autobot’s throat, rippled against your skin. His lips tenderly kissing tangled the nerves of your clit, as his digit pushed more into your depth. Your soaked core relaxing, as his servo gently rocked against you. Ripping more muffled whimpers and whines from you, with each plunge of his digit.
Electric volts raced through Optimus’ wires, as fireworks burst within his Spark. His engine revving, low moans rumbling within his throat, as his optics looked up at you. A smile forming upon his lips, as he witnessed the hot mess you slowly tuned into.
“You’re so wet, my darling.” His voice cooed, “you’re practically dripping down me. Perhaps, I should clean you up.”
Before words could form a question, a moan slipped from your lips as Optimus’ servo retreated from your core. Eyes widening, as his mouth kissed and sucked upon the glistening folds of your entrance. Your nails digging into his helm, scratching the navy-blue paint, as his glossa plunged into you without hesitation.
“Optimus! Optimus!”
His free servo quickly clasped against your mouth, muffling the whines of his name. A speechless command for quiet, as his passionate assault upon your soft spot didn’t ease.
Your eyes rolled shut, arching your back and melting into the heated moment. As your legs spread a little more, giving Optimus more space to push his lips against you. Allowing his glossa to go deeper into your wet depths.
His free servo slipped under the hem of your shirt, cupping and foundling with your breast. As the other trailed down, resting upon your neck. The tightening of your pussy around Optimus’ glossa, made his Spark begging for more.
You were unlike anything he’d ever had. How your soft, organic body molded just oh so perfectly, against his servos and faceplate. The sweet essence of your soaked core, dripping down his glossa- providing a taste that made the Prime wonder how he ever lived this long without it. The sound of your voice moaning his name felt like a beautiful melody to him. A sirens song that you sang only for him.
Your eyes fluttered open, as a breathless gasp slipped from your mouth. Biting your bottom slip, while another moan of Optimus’ name bubbled in your throat. Heat erupted in your core, a burning fire of desire warming your body, as an ache built up between your legs. Your hips rocking against Optimus’ faceplate, as nerves tangled together within your lower adomiain. A wave of pleasure building up, as the Autobot devoured your wet pussy. His glossa gliding in and out of your soaked entrance, lathering up your essence upon his glossa, like he had been stranded in a desert for days. And your body was the oasis, which held the key to a lifesaving nectar.
“Oh...” you whined, as Optimus pulled away, causing your hand to slip down by your sides again. The wave of pleasure slowly settling down, as the fire within your core caused an ache. His servo retreating from underneath your shirt.
“Forgive me, Sweet Spark.” He lowly spoke, wiping your glistening essence off his mouth and chin. Using the back of his servo, “but I need some... relief of my own.”
His servo’s gently caressed your lower back, cradling your soft body as he picked you up. Bringing you closer to him, as Optimus shifted into a standing position.
Your blush radiating a little more warmth upon your cheeks, as your eyes lowered to his modesty plate. Biting your lip a little, as the metal buckled from some hidden pressure behind it.
Optimus’ low groans caught brought your attention back, noticing that the Autobot had trouble stepping over the fence which was on the left side of the of the courtyard. The fence divided the courtyard of the abandoned cathedral, and the community pool next door.
Sitting down upon the overgrown grass, you straddled Optimus’ lap as he bent down and cupped your face. Placing soft, delicate kiss upon the top of your head and forehead. You could feel his modesty buckling more beneath you, as you grinded against the surprisingly light metal.
“Be mine, my love.” His breathless plea brushed against your ear. Causing the fire in your core to burst, as Optimus’ Spark pulsed through his wires, “spend one night with this Prime, and I swear you’ll never want to love another.”
Your hand caressed his cheek, as a loving sigh escaped your lips. “You already make feel like I don’t want another, Optimus Prime. For it’s you who has my heart- my whole heart.”
You slightly adjusted your position, as Optimus removed his modesty plate. Eyes widening as you admired the size of his spike, the flickering flames within your core burned into a heat of want. A fire matching Optimus’ electric pulses of desire.
Positioning himself near your close, using the tip of his spike to tease your throbbing entrance. Servo’s trailing down your torso, feeling every delicate curve as his palms rested against your outer thighs. His digits caressing the soft skin of your ass.
A moan slipping from you, as his spike slipped into your soaking core. Your hands sliding from his faceplate, and onto his chassis. Gripping onto his chest plate, as your velvety walls felt every ribbed inch that Optimus gently thrusted into you.
Optimus’ helm slowly tilted back, as his optics rolled shut. His engine purring, his Spark pulsing, vents cooling as he began to thrust into you. Cables tightened throughout his body, as the sensation of your essence dripping down him, sent Optimus’ processors into a spin. His scanners picking up your racing heart, as his Spark matched its rhythm. A knot begun to tighten deep within your core, as your body adjusted to the Autobot’s size.
Your features flushed red, breasts bouncing with each thrust as you leaned forwards. The water reflecting off the outdoor pool, made the sweat upon your body glimmer slightly, as it dripped down your neck and back. Hair sticking to you, as your forehead rested against Optimus’ chassis, low whimpers and moans leaving your lips, as his hips picked up rhythm.
“Primus! You’re so tight! So wet!”
His digits begun to clench your ass, causing a low hiss to slip from you. Biting your bottom lip, trying to stop a scream of pleasure escape you. As you bounced and grind against his spike, never feeling so stretched yet so full at the same time. Knowing fair well that this mechanical God of a man, has absolutely ruined you. Optimus’ spike plunged into your soaked core, each thrust hitting your cervix harder and harder. Teasing the knot behind it, to come undone.
“Y-You feel so good-”
“Shut up and fuck me!”
A satisfied growl rumbled deep within Optimus’ throat, your breathless command making the pulsing electricity within him, burst like fireworks. His optics fluttering open, as he tried to blink away the lust that glossed over his vision.
“Your body was made for my love, Sweet Spark.” Gripping tightly upon your ass, making your body bounce harder against him. Pushing your hips down and meeting his, the tip of his spike slapping against your g-spot.
“O-Optimus... Optimus!”
Your grip upon his chassis tightened, as the knot in your core caused your legs to quiver. The rocking and thrusting of your hips, turning into an unforgiving pace, as your wave of pleasure began to build. Cables tightened inside Optimus’ body, as his body prepared for an upcoming overload.
“Oh! Oh, fuck.”
A breathless gasp escaped Optimus’, as your soaked core tightened around his throbbing spike. Your body falling against his chassis, as the warm feeling of his trans-fluids painted your insides. His sticky fluid, and your glistening essence covering your thighs and his.
A small whimper left your lips, as Optimus carefully lifted you off his spike. Your heavy breathes fogging up his chassis, as your fingers scratched a little more of his blue paint off. Eyes fluttering, your body slumping against him, as it felt like all the energy and strength was taken from your body. Barely able to lift your head, as you gave the Autobot a contented smile. His vents working overtime, trying to cool down the warmth that radiated from his body.
Cradling you against him, Optimus carefully shuffled towards the pool. Lowering himself into the water, making sure that the level only came to your waist. Both happily sighing as the cool water, felt refreshing against your warm bodies.
“This... feels nice.” Your tone was sleepy, as your head rested against his chest.
“It does.” Optimus placed a soft kiss upon the top of your head. His free servo grabbing a nearby towel, dragging it into the water, and wrapping it around your waist. Giving you a little bit of modesty. “Rest, my Sweet Spark. For I shall watch over you.”
“I love you, Optimus Prime.”
“And I you, Y/N Yeager.”
You slowly peel your eyes open, and almost immediately regret doing so—even though it’s dark out, the little light there is adds to your headache, worsening the ringing sound in your ears, and a soft, rhythmic thump. You consider closing your eyes again, slumping forward and drifting back off to the sleep, but that beating becomes louder, and more coherent.
“Hey… Hey… Hey…” is all you can make out, a gentle coo lulling you back to sleep, until an arm shoots through glass and a hand grips on the door handle from the inside. You scream and sit up, noting a sharp but dull pain in your neck as you do so.
“I’m sorry,” a voice calls, still sounding far away and obstructed by the ringing in your ears, “Didn’t mean to scare you.”
You gasp as the door flies open and a man holds out his arms and coaxes you into them.
Unsure of what’s happening, you fall out of your seat, but he catches you with his strong arms and gentle chants, “It’s okay, I’ve got you, it’s okay…”
You look up at where you had stumbled out from: a car—your car—the front of it squashed against a tree and smoking from the hood.
“My- My car,” you manage to croak as you hold your arms out toward it.
“You had an accident, it’s okay, I’ll call someone, let me just take you back to my place, is that okay?”
You hesitate but even through your hazy mind you manage to remember your phone had died somewhere on the drive down from the mountains—you had been camping with your friends! in a remote area—before the accident. You left before them, and you were all taking the same route back to the city… how could they not have seen you? The ringing in your ears is dying down slightly and your surroundings are eerily quiet—just distant rustling and chirping. It’s dark, and it’s cold, so you must be outside, but you can’t see the moon—you can barely see anything. You look up and can make out just a few stars, the rest of them being covered by long, thin tendrils breaking into the night sky.
Branches. Trees! You’re in the woods.
“Is that okay?” he repeats.
You groggily look up at him and wince as you nod your head. He stands and effortlessly pulls you up with him; you squeal as he wraps a cold arm around your waist and raises you as he stands. Your feet are dangling off the ground for a moment until he gently sets you down, but keeps his hold on your waist. He brings his left arm over to your right and gently raises it to lay across his shoulders.
“There we go, good job,” he praises quietly as he takes a step forward, before asking if you’re able to walk. You take a step with him and sway slightly, head still spinning, but he catches you before you fall away from him and holds you slightly tighter against him.
“I can carry you,” he offers. You decline.
“You don’t seem like you have any major injuries—thank God—but you’re…” he slows down and drops the hand you have draped over his shoulders. He brings his fingers up to lightly touch your temple, to which you wince, “Sorry,” he mumbles, bringing his hand to his eyes, pale finger tips now stained with crimson, “You’re bleeding.”
You can barely make him out in the blackness of the forest and through your slightly blurred vision, but you swear his eyes flash with something… something you can’t name. But you can barely think about it; he swiftly picks your hand up again and starts walking.
It’s not possible to tell how long you were walking, but you can’t say it feels excruciating, your legs aren’t tired from the walk either; and you can’t tell the distance you’ve travelled, as you had just kind of zoned out, letting him do most of the work as you mindlessly pulled along.
But by the time you had reached a cabin, you were starting to regain a better form of comprehension, though your head was still aching.
You were grateful for the warmth of the cozy lodge, by size it was clear he lived alone.
“Thank you…” you say as he sets you down on a brown leather couch and hands you a blanket. You throw the warm cover over your shoulders and hold the corners together in the front as you settle a little more comfortably.
“Bucky,” he finishes for you with a smile.
“Bucky,” you complete your thanks, and give him your name in return.
“Does anything hurt?” he asks, calling over his shoulder as he ducks into a cupboard and begins rummaging around.
“My head’s killing me—apart from that, no,” you respond as he comes up, holding a small first aid kit in hand.
“Guess a concussion,” he says as he sits in a leather seat across from you, setting the bag down on the table next to it, “But here,” he lightly touches your left temple and you jerk away slightly. He pulls back to stare down at his fingers, “You’re bleeding… a lot. I think you need stitches.”
As he spoke he stared at his blood-painted fingers, for some reason making you uneasy. You shift uncomfortably and pull the blanket tighter around you. You lightly clear your throat and say, “I don’t need an ambulance or anything, but we should probably call someone to get my car, and, uhm, they can take me home.”
“I see a lot of you,” he says as he stands. Under the soft, yellow light of the cabin, you’re able to get a better look at him: he’s fair-skinned, tall, and strong with slightly wild hair, and even wilder eyes, fixated on you with a… hunger, like you’ve never seen; not just predatory, nearly inhuman altogether, “A lot of people come up and stay for no more than three days, and their biggest concern? Bears.”
He locks the door.
“When there’s much worse to fear out here.”
You’re unable to speak as he stalks towards you.
“And I’ve watched you, and I like you,” you shift up the couch, trying to put distance between you and him… or, you and… it.
“Correct me if I’m wrong, you didn’t seem to be having too good a time,” he sits in the spot you just were and watches you squirm slightly, before he simply places his hand on your ankle and you still, paralysed, “Looked like you wanted to enjoy the scenery, and I kept thinking, ‘She should have come alone.’”
You had wanted to come alone; though you loved Natasha and Yelena, they weren’t much into exploring, preferring to stay at camp around the fire and stick to the set hiking trails, which, absolutely, you enjoyed, but they didn’t want to stray too far from the set paths—though the location was remote, it was by no means unpopular, and everyone pretty much knew the safe places to stay. One night you had taken a stroll, and could have sworn you felt eyes on you.
“Your friends… they seem nice, sweet, even. And they were.”
The way he annunciates sweet. And… they were sweet? You don’t get a chance at exactly comprehending him until he interrupts your thoughts in less than a moment,
“But I know you taste better.”
You gasp and push away further as cold fingers wrap around your ankle, but he’s pulled you down and is on you in a second, hovering above you with a smile; teeth impossibly white with… fangs.
He leans down and presses a kiss to your bleeding temple, pulling back to look at you with red lips. He flicks his tongue out and nearly moans at the taste, still grinning down at you.
Adrenaline coming from you don’t know where, you pull your knee in and punch up hard against his groin. He nearly falls on top to you with a grunt as he clutches his crotch, but you roll aside and tumble to the floor, hastily standing up as you dart for the door, manoeuvring around the coffee table and knocking stuff off the mantle of the fireplace in your rush to get to the exit. Of course he’s faster, blocking the exit and pushing you down.
You shriek as you fall backwards, actually nearly falling into the fireplace, and he lands over you, skilfully sticking out his arms on either side so he doesn’t crash into you. With really nowhere to go but into the fire, you try to shift down underneath him, but he painfully grips your neck and tugs you back up, holding your head just above the fire. You grasp at his grip on your throat with one hand and hold yourself from dropping into the flames with the other, your elbow dangerously close and heating up, and strands of hair coming loose—you wonder how your hair hasn’t caught fire.
“How many men have said they’ll love you forever… and how many really can?” he questions, to which you can barely even hear through your circulation cutting off and the imminent danger of being burnt alive, “You know what I am,” he continues, lowly, dropping his lips to your ear, “You know what I can do.”
When he pulls away, you notice the steel blue eyes you had not known well have turned to a red, and that you feel like you know all too well; eyes that have been watching you.
He swings you down underneath him and you fly through his legs, gasping for air. Your head hits the wooden floor hard and starts up that ringing again.
He lifts you up easily and holds you to his chest. You struggle in his hood as he tries to calm you; “I saved you, remember? I’m not gonna hurt you; I could have left you to die, but I didn’t, see? Because you’re special, so special…”
You’re not sure where he’s walking to until he tosses you onto a bed. You can’t even bounce against the mattress before he’s got a knee between your thighs and has gathered your wrists into one of his hands, holding them above your head. You struggle underneath him, but he still he continues in a gentle voice, “I saved you, you owe me—in fact, this benefits you; I can make you feel good, you need it, angel.”
“Bucky, no,” you say, firmly, but he might as well not have heard it.
He brings his other hand down to rub circles on your thigh.
“You’re warm,” he notes, though you assume just about anything is warmer than him—he’s so cold it burns, like dry ice.
You (nearly) regret wearing shorts when he runs his cold hands up your thighs; you shiver, and not because of the cold.
There’s something so… otherworldly about his touch; it’s foreign, yet so familiar it scares you. He shifts down and lightly grazes his teeth over your thigh. You whimper in anticipation, and he smiles against your skin.
“And you’re soft…”
He does it; his fangs pierce your thigh, and you wince at the sharp sting, but you just can not bring yourself to push him away, or even kick anymore, there’s some primal need to have him, that disgusts you, your body completely betraying you to give up to a man from fiction, old wives tales—that’s all vampires were supposed to be.
But you’ve got one between your legs.
He sucks, yet more gentle than you thought, and not for long, drawing blood from you in short intakes. After just a few seconds he pulls away and looks up at you with red eyes and a grin, exposed sharp teeth stained in a deep crimson.
This is quite literally the most danger you’ve ever been in; there’s no way in fucking hell you could escape a demon from there, from hell.
You press a hand to the thigh he bit, and bring your index and middle fingers up to stare at the two spots, watching as the red dots seep down to your palm with your mouth slightly open. You can not believe what’s happening, panic now really setting in.
It’s so odd, the juxtaposition between his soothing touches and dangerous nature. You’re near hyperventilating when he leans down to your neck. He pushes your hair away and brushes his lips against you, breathing steady, while you stare up at the ceiling, chest rising and falling so fast you’re afraid it may burst. You bring your left hand up to smack him away, but he catches your wrist and softly sets your palm against his cheek.
“Did I scare you?” he whispers, and you can feel him suppress a smile, “I do like my damsels in distress…” he drawls, bringing his lips up to your ear, “But you’ll be okay; I saved you. Remember, honey?”
You press your palm down harder, trying to hurt him, but that just pushes him to kiss your neck. You jerk away and turn over on the bed, but he’s there in a flash, elbow propped up on the pillow, holding his cheek in his propped up hand.
“How many men have told you they’d love you for eternity, and how many really can?”
He raises himself up over you, and now he’s looking ravenous; you’re afraid he will literally devour you. Never breaking eye contact, he rips your shorts straight off, and tosses the torn fabric. He brings a hand between your thighs and lightly drags a cold finger over your slit, wet, to your embarrassment.
You expect him to mock you as he raises an eyebrow, but he quickly drops it and brings his hand up to run down the side of your face.
“It’s okay,” he coos, “You know you need this.”
He’s naked before you realise it, fair skin complementing his six pack and strong arms—you don’t stand a chance. He rips your shirt off, and you gasp at the fabric sliding against your skin, leaving you exposed to the relatively warm air of the cozy cabin, but your nipples still perk.
You manage to look at him: he’s fucking huge.
As if reading your mind, “You can take it,” he assures as he slips your underwear off before lining up with you.
Slowly, he enters you with a low groan, and you gasp, instinctively wrapping your legs around his waist and grasping at his back, trying to gain some bearings at the intrusion, whimpering. He starts to move at a slow pace, almost like he’s trying to restrain himself, panting as you squeeze around him.
He drops his head to your shoulder, his breathing heavy on your neck as he praises you, “Fuck, you’re so warm… feel so good, you’re doing great for me, angel… doing great.”
He can barely speak through his groans, but either way you can barely hear him, his voice drowned out by your moans as he thrusts into you at a steady enough pace, but still you can hardly take it; this is a different kind of pleasure—as he hits you in just the right spot again, and again, and again—but you can’t figure out why, and you don’t even care, breathing hard as you dig your nails into his back.
He presses his lips back to your neck, and your nerves scale up for a second when he starts harshly sucking, but only to leave a hickey, for sure.
“Bucky,” it’s such a broken plea you wonder if you even got his name out coherently.
“Can you come for me? Can you do that?”
He brings a hand down to circle your clit as his breathing becomes ragged and thrusts harder.
“I- Fuck!” you cry as you convulse, back arching up as you clench down on him. Seconds later he reaches his high, cursing as he comes inside of you, trying to catch his breath with a smile on his face, admiring your wrecked state.
“Good girl,” he breathes, “You did so well, angel.”
You try to turn over, but he grips your hip and pushes it back down, forcing your body to face back up at him.
“I can last forever.”
Anonymous asked:
never have i ever caught someone else doing something embarrassing
ㅤㅤSomething embarrassing..?
ㅤㅤ" There was one time I caught Ames doing a little roleplaying with herself. I won't get into the really gritty details so I can save her dignity -- especially since it took a lot of promising not to tell a soul what I heard for her to come out from under all the blankets she immediately buried herself under. " A short snicker, a raised glass for a toast, and she takes a shot.
ㅤㅤ" I..do not believe I can be certain. I believe I have witnessed others expressing what could be defined as ' embarrassment, ' but as for whether or not I have caught someone..doing something embarrassing..? Hm.. " A thoughtful stare at her wine..before she takes a drink. " For the sake of a just in case, I suppose. "
ㅤㅤ" Hnn.. " Witnessing someone else..? He'd made a fool of himself, before. He'd witnessed others do foolish things, in turn. Something embarrassing, though..? Ah, maybe if he considered the beginning of this journey, the start of a year.. So excited about the wildlife around her..the cliff she nearly walked herself off of... With no more than a hum, he's lifting a glass of whatever liquid courage this stranger had ordered for him -- taking a sip and trying not to gurgle through the cringe, after. Ugh, what a disgusting flavor...
ㅤㅤ" Wahh...I think I've probably done more embarrassing things than anybody else I know.. I guess there was this one guy who wanted to try and impress a friend of mine, so he tried to perform a trick in front of all of us.. "
ㅤㅤ" He didn't um,,really make it the way I think he wanted to? So..when he jumped back, he didn't stick the landing and fell pretty hard on his face. He! Was okay, though! Really scratched up but he didn't lose any teeth or anything, and he got up and tried to laugh it off.. But! Um! I think it worked out for him, too, because she was willing to trade numbers with him, after! I dunno how well they've been talking, though..I haven't really asked her about it, since.. "
ㅤㅤAh -- right, there were supposed to be drinks with this, too, right? Her experience with alcohol wasn't exactly....great, but.. It wasn't supposed to be terrible when it was mixed in with juices and stuff, so..? She's taking a sip..!
Total count: 1
ㅤㅤ" Oh -- haha.. I think it's normal to catch someone doing something somewhat embarrassing, at least once.. I won't embarrass them a second time, here, so I apologize if you were looking forward to a story.. Embarrassing or not, however, we all may do things that we look back on with varying amounts of humility or regret.. Feeling such things only means we have changed from those experiences though, right..? We continually grow and develop.. It's a wonderful thing, don't you think..? a/n: This is the final chapter of my series Moonstruck. I’ve been writing this story on and off for YEARS, so if you’ve stuck around this long, thank you! I’m aware people might be upset at the ending and that’s okay! My OC isn’t perfect and the point is she chose her own happiness for once. Please be kind, as I plan to write an epilogue in the future that can also be read as a stand-alone (with all the werewolf smut a reader could dream of lol).
Moonstruck Series Masterlist
“Let me go to Jimin. Please.”
Her voice was frail, broken, desperate. You caved into her pleas, seeing as she was in no condition to fight. Whatever happened between her, Jimin, and Jungkook must’ve been brutal. It’s amazing she was still standing, but as she limped towards her lover, her legs gave way from exhaustion.
Still, she persisted and crawled the remaining distance to hold her dying boyfriend in her arms. You walked over to them, finding the moment tender and beautiful despite the circumstances.
“Don’t worry, I’ll fix everything,” she said, smiling through her tears. Jimin could barely utter her name, but she shushed him. “Save your strength.”
She pulled out an artifact from her pocket that you recalled from your studies and gasped.
“Is that…?” you started to say. She didn’t answer you and looked up towards the sky. You followed her gaze to see streaks of shooting stars across the velvet night sky.
“Tonight’s a meteor shower,” Ari said, as if she was anticipating it. “A celestial event will fix everything.”
You tore your gaze away from the sky to see blood dripping from her nose onto the circular artifact. From what you remembered, it was called an Ascendant. Combined with the blood from a Choi witch and the cosmic power of a celestial event, a portal to a prison world was possible.
“No. You’re not serious!” you exclaimed.
“It’s the only way to save him,” she said, running a hand through his hair with a fond expression. “To save us.”
“So what? You’re going to live out the rest of your days with someone who doesn’t even love you?! He’s going to die over and over. That’s not a way to live.”
Prison worlds were just that — a hell with no escape. Death was a pleasure one wasn’t able to experience there. It was a place for banishment, home for the worst of the worst.
Ari looked you dead in the eye. “He’s my first love. I intend to be his last.”
In this moment, you knew this was your best friend talking and not some demented evil version of her. She was dying because Jimin was dying and if she wanted to be tethered to a prison world the rest of her days, who were you to stop her?
Almost as if she could hear your thoughts, she added, “I’ve done too much to be forgiven for. Let me go.”
She deserved it. She deserved to rot there with him. So you weren’t going to deny her wishes, only prolong them. You bent down and swiped the Ascendant from her hand, holding it hostage.
“No.” Your voice was unwavering. She stared at you aghast, like you committed the most terrible sin.
“[Y/N]!”
“You want to abandon all the problems you exacerbated? No. I’m tired of this bullshit. If anyone gets to run away from this mess, it’s me. Now you better give me a solution…” You held the artifact high, threatening to smash it into smithereens. “Or else.”
“Stop, stop!” she begged.
“I’m waiting. The meteor shower will be over soon. Tick. Tock.”
She glanced down at Jimin, reaching her hand up to his neck to grab the amulet. With a forceful tug, she yanked it off him and handed it to you.
“Here! This will solve everything. I promise!”
You took the amulet from her, your eyes watching her every movement in case she tried to pull something. “How?”
“I sense someone trapped within it. Someone who has an energy signature similar to you… I’m not sure, but I think it’s your father.”
Your entire body froze. “How is that possible? How do I release him?”
A faint click sound captured your attention. You lowered your hand and stared at the Ascendant, watching the gears rotate into place, the cosmic energy from the meteor shower beaming straight into it. A relieved smile graced Ari’s features as she closed her eyes.
“No, wait!” You were too late. A bright flash temporarily blinded you and once you opened your eyes again, Ari and Jimin had vanished, leaving behind only a burned Ascendant.
Mora Miserium…
Ari’s words rang loud in your ears, though you had no idea what they meant.
However, the amulet was still in your hand. You dangled it in front of you, paying attention to its alluring glow. It seemed to shine brighter the closer it was to your face, like it was attracted to something. You realized your moonstone was reacting to it, so you placed them near each other, igniting a burst of energy that knocked you backwards. Groaning, you sat up to see a figure manifest before your very eyes—a ghost you never thought you’d see again as your eyes flooded with tears.
“Dad…?”
“My little miracle… come here.”
You stumbled while getting up and rushed into his warm embrace, crying your heart out.
“Where have you been all this time? I missed you so much. I lost my best friend and—and—” You hiccuped from talking so fast. He held you by the shoulders. “I know, sweetheart. I know. I was in your necklace. Trapped, actually.”
“But how?”
“Nevermind that. I’ll take Jungkook to the infirmary. You go release the professors, Hoseok, and Jiwoo. I’ll explain everything.”
You obeyed your father’s instructions, releasing everyone from their cages in the underground cellar. Everyone was quick to ask you what was going on, the noise unbearable. There were too many questions, apologies, concerns — the chaos finally stopped when your father appeared after dropping Jungkook off.
“[F/N]...” Jin and Yoongi embraced your father tight, afraid it was a dream. Once they released him, Hoseok and his sister gave an awkward introduction but were friendly nevertheless.
“Where the hell have you been?” Yoongi asked, giving him a punch in the arm. Your father, quick with his reflexes, caught his fist.
With a soft smile, he replied, “In [Y/N]’s moonstone,” Jin dropped his jaw so wide that it almost made you laugh. “I know, I know. It’s a lot. But let’s heal the injured first. I took Jungkook to the infirmary and patched him up. [Y/N]?”
“Yes, Dad?”
“Heal Namjoon. I know he’s treated you awfully and you don’t have to forgive him—”
“But he was compelled,” you said, finishing his statement. “So everything that’s happened… isn’t his fault. I’ll heal him.”
You bit your wrist, devoid of the pain it usually brought and lowered yourself to Namjoon’s limp body on the ground. You lifted his head gently, placing your wrist on his mouth and making sure he was ingesting it.
“He’ll be fine after some rest,” you said, standing up.
“Thank you, [Y/N],” Yoongi said, though you didn’t bother sparing him a glance. “I know I should’ve told you about releasing Hoseok but—”
“I don’t want to hear it.” He nodded in understanding and you turned to your father. “Dad, what are we going to do? Jungkook and Taehyung’s lives are linked.”
“What?!” Everyone aside from you and your father was stunned. God, you needed a newsletter or something to keep them all up to date.
“Yeah, yeah,” you said with a dismissive hand gesture. “I’ll explain that later but for right now, I need to unlink them because if one more bad thing happens, I will turn off my humanity again. What can you tell me about Mora Muserium?”
He seemed astonished by the mention of it. “That’s an ancient artifact witches use to remove dark magic and have it contained. I was traveling the world to find it for you, hoping it’d remove the dark magic and help you regain fertility.”
You glared at him and he cleared his throat.
“I know,” he said, scratching the nape of his neck. “Father of the year right here. I should’ve told you the truth.”
“I’m guessing you didn’t find it.”
“No. I had to find an alternative. There was a witch who gave me the moonstone but said its powers only activate if a werewolf sacrifices his soul.”
“Oh my god,” Hoseok said, placing a hand on his heart. “You were willing to stay inside the stone for the rest of your life if it meant [Y/N] could have children?”
He nodded while giving you a fond smile. “Anything for my little girl. She deserves a life with her needs fulfilled.” Your dad suddenly snapped his head in Hoseok’s direction. “But then you killed her.”
Hoseok held his hands up in surrender while Jiwoo stood in front of him, her protective nature taking over. “Hey. He was manipulated into doing so to save me.”
“Still. The moonstone is useless now for fertility,” your father huffed.
“Can we please get back to the Mora Muserium?” you said, wanting to pull your hair out from frustration. “We don’t have much time. Taehyung died with my blood in his system and will need to drink it again to complete his transformation. If not, he’ll die and take Jungkook with him!”
“How did their lives become linked?” Jin questioned.
“The night of the banquet we drank some alcohol that Ari gave us.”
“It must have been dark magic. If we can get the Mora Muserium, we can use it to absorb the dark magic out of Jungkook and sever the connection.”
“Great. But where can we find it? What does it look like?”
“I think I’ve seen it before,” Yoongi chimed in. “It looks like a sand clock of sorts. Like an hourglass.”
“Yes. But the one I was looking for was sold to a private collector,” your father informed.
“I’ve seen it…” The groggy voice came from the floor. Jin rushed to Namjoon’s side, helping him sit up. Aside from the dried blood from his nose, his wounds had lightened and were in the process of healing. “Jimin’s parents. They own an armory full of artifacts. I saw one that looked like an hourglass the day I helped him get the White Oak stake.”
“I’ll go. Tell me the address,” your father stated. “I’m taking Jungkook with me.”
“What? He’s knocked out and needs time to recover.” Your protest fell on deaf ears.
“It’s the least he can do for you. Besides, it gives me time to get to know him. A little heart-to-heart.” He patted your head. “Don’t worry. I’ll wait for him to wake up. You go take care of that bite wound and rest. All of us should rest.”
Jungkook’s Point of View - 12 Hours Later
I woke up in the infirmary sore as hell. Sitting up only exacerbated things, the pain surging through me like fire. My torso was wrapped in bandages and my arm was in a sling. The battle with the bitch witch would’ve gone sideways if Jimin didn't intervene. I barely made it out with my life.
“You’re awake, boy.”
The voice was gruff, unfamiliar. I saw a silhouette from behind the privacy curtain, but I didn’t feel threatened. I could tell he was a werewolf from his scent.
“Who are you?”
He pulled back the curtain, revealing his face to me. He was far older than me, with streaks of gray in his hair. His stern expression intimidated the shit out of me, but after giving me a once over, his eyes softened and his forehead creased with wrinkles of concern.
“I’m [F/N]. [Y/N]’s dad.”
“Oh,” Shit. This was not how I envisioned meeting him. “She has your eyes.”
A soft chuckle came out of him. “I get that a lot.” He pulled up a chair to sit by my side, the smell of cedarwood filling my nose. “Look, I know a lot has happened around here. I’ve been trapped in that damn moonstone for months.”
I looked at him in horror. “You mean the necklace [Y/N] has? That means you’ve seen…”
I trailed off, but he seemed to understand what I was getting at. He waved his hand in a dismissive manner, his face twisted in disgust. “Yes, yes, there’s a lot I did not wish to see but anyway… not the point. Honestly, part of me wants to strangle you for hurting her.”
I knew my time had to come sometime. Better him than someone else. I closed my eyes and braced myself.
“But…” He continued, “You and my daughter have been through hell and back. You protected her. Thank you.”
I opened my eyes, trying not to exhale in relief too loudly. “I always will.”
“Do you love her?”
“I do.” My response was so fast; it sounded automated. I noticed [F/N]’s eyes narrowing at me, like he was searching for doubt.
“Why?”
If I took too long coming up with an answer, that would only make me look ingenuine. I spoke from my heart, keeping my voice steady even though he looked like he could tear me in half at any moment’s notice.
“For the first time in a while, I feel like I can think clearly. The sire bond was like a crutch that made it impossible for me to distinguish my own feelings from [Y/N]’s,” I said, watching for his reaction. He nodded for me to continue. “Now that it’s severed, I feared I would stop loving her. That it was all an illusion. But that’s not the case. I know I love her. So much that it scares me…”
“Even if she’s infertile?”
“I already knew about that. It does not affect how I feel.”
“What about Jimin?”
I’d be damned if I saw that wretched vampire ever again. He manipulated everyone, especially me. Like an idiot. “What about him?”
“You chose to believe his words over my daughter’s. I want to know why.”
He might as well have broken my other arm. I fought the urge to throw up. What did he want me to say? That I was an idiot, that I was manipulated, that I was doubting her because I was a coward? “I don’t know.”
“Answer me.” He was telling, not asking. But I was stubborn.
“I said I don’t know.” I did know, of course. However, I didn’t want to shoot myself in the foot. Anything I said would sound like a pathetic excuse.
“Gonna take it to the grave? You don’t have much time left.”
He laughed at my stunned face, as if mocking me. “What do you mean?”
“Your life is linked to that other wolf’s. [Y/N] mentioned something about the night of the banquet where you drank liquor.”
Taehyung. Fuck, fuck, fuck! No wonder that bastard was so elated when I returned. That must have been why I blacked out after clawing him. Though my body was already on the verge of collapsing from the constant battling.
“Anyway, I’ll get straight to the point,” [F/N]’s said as he stood up. “Taehyung died with my daughter’s blood in his system thanks to you. That means he’s in the middle of transitioning to becoming a hybrid.”
“But it’s incomplete…” I whispered. He nodded, crossing one arm over the other.
“He needs to drink her blood one more time after coming back to life to become a hybrid. If not, he will die. Which in turn means you will die.”
“I gotta see [Y/N].” I practically ripped the covers off me with my good arm, swinging my legs off the cot. However, he placed a firm hand on my shoulder.
“You’re in no condition to leave.”
“She’s going to do whatever it takes to save me, including saving that son of a bitch. He’ll be sired by her, which is what he wants!”
“Yes, but would you rather be dead than see him sired by her? Think straight for a second. We have a mission.”
“What mission?”
“We’re going to go artifact hunting and I need that compulsion ability of yours to succeed. Then I’ll consider letting you see my daughter.”
Of course there was something else. There always was.
Your Point Of View - 12 Hours Later
You slept like a log. Your body was worn down, weathered by the stress and trauma the universe kept sending your way. The only reason you woke up was because your sharp ears picked up the sound of digging. At first, you tried to ignore it. But it was consistent and your curiosity got the best of you.
“Put your back into it,” Yoongi said, sitting on the snow criss-crossed. Jin huffed and set the shovel aside.
“This would go a lot faster if you helped!” He turned around to see you appear out of nowhere. “Ah fuck! Oh my god, [Y/N]! You scared me.”
“Sorry. You woke me from my sleep.” You stared down at the wide chasm he dug, the body inside instantly recognizable. “Is that…?”
“Yes. It’s Sunghyun,” Yoongi said. “We wanted to give him a proper burial.”
“I’ll help,” you offered. Jin and Yoongi gave each other a look but said nothing. Jin handed you the other shovel, giving you a gentle smile.
“Thanks.”
“Where’s Hoseok and his sister?” you asked.
“Still sleeping,” Yoongi answered.
“And my dad?”
“He went to find the Mora Miserium with Jungkook.”
“Namjoon? Taehyung?”
“Infirmary. Taehyung’s chained up in the caves. Jungkook really fucked him up; he’s still knocked out,” Jin said, releasing a grunt as he dug.
There wasn’t any more conversation after that. Once Sunghyun’s grave was filled, Yoongi used a piece of wood as a makeshift headstone until he could get a proper one. He had etched Sunghyun’s name into it with a pocket knife and you all said your prayers.
“He saved my life,” you said, taking out the amulet from your pocket. “Especially with this. I wanted this buried with him but the risks…”
“He’d understand,” Jin said, reassuring you. “He wouldn’t want the wrong person to get their hands on it. We can frame it or you can keep it.”
You stared at the amulet in your hands, contemplating what to do with it. Then your eyes lit up as you took your moonstone necklace off. Last time the two pendants touched, there was an explosion. But what if this time…
“Can you fuse the two necklaces together? I think they’re connected.”
Jin cracked his knuckles. “Easy peasy.”
He chanted some words in Latin, moving his hands in the air around the two pendants as you held them. Then with one final snap, the stones fused together to create a double moon necklace. Jin grinned at his work and then proceeded to help you put the necklace back on.
“It suits you,” Yoongi remarked. The three of you headed back towards campus, the snow crunching beneath your feet. “I’m sorry.”
You stared at the professor, shaking your head. “Please don’t.”
He stopped walking, so Jin followed his example. You sighed, halting your footsteps as well.
“I’m sorry too,” Jin said.
“I don’t want to hear apologies. I just want this to end. Okay?” You interrupted them before they had a chance to say more. “I know. You released Hoseok because you love him. And you recorded my sessions because I don’t know, documentation? It’s fine.”
The two men couldn’t bear to look at you, so they opted for looking at the ground instead.
“How do you intend for this to end?” Yoongi said, his voice soft, as if you could be set off at a moment’s notice. “Do you… have a plan?”
You dropped your shoulders, not realizing how tense they were. “I don’t know. Dad gets the artifact, we sever the link, Jungkook gets to live.”
“And Taehyung?” Jin said, trying not to sound nervous. “What about him? Will you give him your blood or…”
He trailed off, but you filled in the blanks pretty easily. “Let him die? That’s what you want to know. You’re my professors… Why should the decision fall on me? Haven’t I been through enough?”
You scoffed, shaking your head in frustration.
“I can’t do this right now,” you said. Yoongi and Jin let you walk away, not having the heart to stop you.
Namjoon’s Point of View
Vampire blood was one thing, but hybrid blood? It accelerated my healing three times as fast. I was pretty much back to normal after a good long rest. Hoseok and his sister woke up fifteen minutes ago, keeping me company in the infirmary. We played a game of cards while catching up.
And boy, did I have a shit ton to catch up on. Truth be told, my memory was fuzzy ever since the night Jimin and I went out in search of [Y/N]. I remember him being so eager to help; I thought it was sweet. But I lowered my guard too easily and paid the price. He whacked me in the head with something hard and next thing I knew, I was tied up.
Hoseok was able to piece things together from there and I quickly changed the subject, asking about him and his sister. It was admirable how everything he’s done was for her. For [Y/N] too. He was simply trying to protect everyone, and though his execution was poor, he had good intentions.
“So… Yoongi, huh?” I asked. Hoseok dropped the cards on my cot, retracting himself into a shy ball. His sister giggled when his cheeks reddened.
“He’s all my brother talks about,” She lowered her voice to a funny octave, mimicking Hoseok as best as she could. “I miss Yoongi. I wanna be with Yoongi. I’m Yoongi’s vitamin.”
I let out a hearty laugh, feeling a weight off my chest for the first time in a while. Hoseok whined at Jiwoo’s teasing, and she patted his head while smiling.
“Do you think [Y/N] will ever forgive me?” I asked. Hoseok stared at me like I had insulted him.
“Forgive you? Dude, I killed her and caused her to never be able to have children again. She’ll forgive you.”
“She’ll forgive you too,” Jiwoo assured. “You were being coerced. You didn’t want to kill her.”
Two knocks came from the door. We all glanced up to see [Y/N] step in, her head hung low.
“Am I interrupting?”
I could barely hear her, but Hoseok answered with a quick, “No, you’re not interrupting. Do you need us?”
“I… I want to talk to Namjoon.”
I was gobsmacked to the point where Hoseok and Jiwoo gave me a look, as if they were telepathically asking me if it was okay.
“Yeah, yeah, come over. Would you two mind giving us some privacy?” Jiwoo was quick to leave, but Hoseok gave me a gentle squeeze on my shoulder first. Once the siblings closed the door behind them, [Y/N] stood in front of me without moving. She fidgeted with the hem of her shirt, her eyes pointed to the ground.
“Sit down,” I said, trying to sound like a gentle giant and not an authoritative douche. She finally made eye contact with me and then in the blink of an eye, her arms were around me. My body stilled. “[Y/N]?”
“I… I want my friend back,” she said, voice slightly shaky. My muscles relaxed and I hugged her back tightly, wanting her to know I was there for her.
“I’m here, I promise,” Poor girl was trembling. “You can cry. Let it all out.”
She did. First it was small sniffles, which gradually became much louder sobbing. I held her close, rubbing soothing circles on her back. I wanted to tell her so much, apologize for everything, but only after she was ready to hear it. I didn’t care how long she needed to cry; I just wanted to be there for her.
“I think I’m ready to talk now… I have a lot to ask. A lot to say.”
She was sitting at the foot of my bed now. “Go ahead. I’m listening.”
“You’re you?” I couldn’t blame her for being cautious. I taught her as much. “You have to be you… Jimin is no longer a part of this world, so the compulsion must’ve worn off.”
“Did you…” I trailed off, but she shook her head.
“Ari took him to the prison world with her.”
“Whoa…” I didn’t know what to say other than I shouldn’t be surprised. Those two deserve each other for eternity.
“You really thought I’d kill him?” Her words were sharp, laced with offense.
I sat up straight. “No, I just didn’t know what happened to him. Once he was gone, it was like my mind felt clear. Like I had control again. I know you wouldn’t kill him unless it was out of self-defense. Actually, even if it wasn’t out of self-defense, I wouldn’t have blamed you. No one would have.”
She bit her lip, a nervous habit of hers when lost in deep thought. “The only person I’ve ever killed was my childhood abuser. It still haunts me. That weight of taking someone’s life is soul-crushing, Joon. Even if he deserved it.”
Her shoulders drooped as she said the next part. “What do I do about Taehyung?”
Ah. That was a very good question indeed. He’s done unforgivable things, his intentions stemming from obsession. Obsession over her. His past record with his last love interest wasn’t any better either. That wolf was dangerous.
“What do you want to do about him?”
She scoffed, as if she knew I would say that. “I don’t know. That’s why I came to you. You’ve killed countless supernatural beings, humans too. Why do I have to decide?”
Valid point. I was a hunter first, headmaster second. But she was only a student, my apprentice, still a kid in my eyes. Always a fighter, never a killer. “Once the link between him and Jungkook is severed, you don’t have to give him your blood. He’ll die of natural consequences. It wouldn’t be your fault.”
“But he’d suffer.”
“Isn’t that what he deserves?”
“You thought Jimin deserved a second chance. Are some people not redeemable?”
“It sounds like you want him to be.”
She covered her face with both hands. “No. I just—he’s a student. And it’s because of his love for me that this got so out of hand. It’s my fault…”
“Stop. None of this is your fault,” She dropped her hands, a sad pout on her lips. “I’ll do it. I’ll put Taehyung out of his misery, so you don’t have to. It’ll be on me.”
“You’re the headmaster. You took him in. You think… he deserves to die?”
“I think he deserves what you think is fitting. Because he’s the one who wronged you. But I’m more than willing to make the hard choice for you if you choose to do nothing.” She hopped off the cot, pacing back and forth in the room. I removed the covers off me and swung my legs off the edge of the bed. “Hey… you don’t have to save everyone.”
That got her to stop. “But I do… my blood is cursed to do so.”
“Listen, I’ve tried to save everyone. Every student. I see so much potential, it’s overwhelming. But some people can't be saved no matter what you do and that’s okay.”
I stood up, but my legs stumbled clumsily. [Y/N] caught me and swung my arm over her shoulder.
“See? I’m a natural at saving others.”
It was good to hear her make a joke, even a small one. I smiled. “Ultimately it’s up to you. I’ll support whatever you do.”
Your Point of View
You set Namjoon back on the cot, joining him as you two dangled your legs off the edge. Well, yours dangled while his feet stayed planted on the ground.
“There’s only one thing I know for sure…” you said. Namjoon placed his hands in his lap, awaiting your answer. “When this is all over, I have to do what’s best for me. And that means—”
“You have to leave.”
It felt like deja vu of your previous conversation where he said he was letting you go. Except this time, you were choosing it yourself.
“Yeah… you actually gave me the idea first. I realized you were right.”
His tone shifted to a more grave one. “I’ll be honest. I probably said many things to you while I was under Jimin’s influence. I don’t remember much after he knocked me out while we went out searching for you. Bastard tied me up and waited until the vervain was out of my system to compel me. Stole my ring too.”
“But…?”
“But…” He sighed. “I made a promise to you and your parents that I’d always look out for you except it’s not healthy for you to be here anymore.” He placed his hand on your own, squeezing it gently. “You were always the right person, but this is the wrong place. I have to let you go because you deserve peace.”
“Namjoon…” You already cried your heart out once, so you refrained from tearing up again. His gaze on you was affectionate, protective, but also solemn.
“I’ll get all the stuff ready for you to graduate early. Anything you need, I’ll do it. Just know you are always welcome here.”
Shit. It looked like he was about to cry. You’ve never seen him like this, so you did the only thing that might bring him some comfort.
“I love you, Namjoon. Thank you for taking care of me all these years.”
He let out a small wheeze from trying to reply to you while keeping his emotions in check. “I love you too. And I’m sorry for everything.”
“I know. But I have a way you can make it up to me.”
Taehyung’s Point of View
I woke up to find myself chained. Not only were my wrists and ankles bound, but there was a collar around my neck too. The chains clinked when I charged forward, but I didn’t get very far since they were attached to the wall. A hole in the ceiling allowed some sunlight in, but it did little to stop the cold winter air. At least someone put me in sweatpants before confining me here.
I wracked my brain to remember my last memory. Ah. Right. I was clawed to death, which was extremely gruesome and sucked ass. However, it would be worth it. She was worth it.
Were my methods unorthodox? Yes. A bit insane? Absolutely. But when you’re in love, you do stupid things. We should have never broken up, but I was overly jealous and she was a stunner. She could have any guy, so I had to do whatever it took to make her choose me.
I wanted her to keep choosing me. Hell, she could use me for all I cared. For sex, for comfort, I would always be down. At first I gave her space, but that was my biggest mistake. A new wolf enrolled into our campus and became my roommate. Little did I know he would soon become my biggest threat.
The human hunters I paid did a splendid job attacking Jungkook. However, it seemed Mother Nature wanted me to work harder because that damn sire bond saved his life. While he was being an ungrateful sired jackass, I was longing to switch places with him. It was my ultimate goal, my desire, to be sired to [Y/N].
So when I caught Park Jimin masturbating to Jungkook’s pictures, the alliance was formed. He’d get Jungkook, I’d get [Y/N]. Little did I know, that vampire bastard was going to double-cross me. A lot of things went south, but it didn’t matter. The end result was what was most important.
I had finally got a taste of her blood. Sweet, delicious, rich liquid crimson. I closed my eyes, licking my lips at the memory. My plan was finally coming to fruition.
And the best part? It was fail-proof. Dying with her blood in my system was step one. Step two was drinking it once more after resurrecting to complete the transition into becoming a hybrid. If she didn’t give it to me, I’d have to force her hand.
Honest to god, I didn’t plan for my life to be linked to Jungkook’s. That night at the banquet, I originally wanted to be linked to [Y/N] as a means to be closer to her. Who knew things would work out in my favor?
If she didn’t give me her blood, I’d die and that means Jungkook would die. This was great. Victory was within my reach; I could smell it.
Well, actually I smelled something else. A saccharine scent I knew all too well. Opening my eyes, I saw a figure approaching in the distance past the iron gate bars.
“[Y/N]...”
My smile was so wide that it hurt my cheeks. The large gauze on her neck was a beautiful sight to see. I hoped she remembered my bite for the rest of her life. The memory of pinning her down, the way she wiggled beneath me trying to escape — it made me hard. If I wasn’t chained, I’d claim her as my own and abduct her for my own twisted needs.
When she opened the gate, I writhed against the chains like a feral beast. She hesitated at first but then entered, leaving enough space between us so she’d still be out of reach.
“You’re such a fucking tease, I’m tired of being the nice guy. Get over here and release me,” I snarled. She didn't respond, so I kept going. “What? Are you mad I drank your blood? That I’ll be sired to you?”
I knew I had won at this point. I couldn’t help but be smug, wearing a proud smile at my soon-to-be victory. She simply shook her head at me.
“I’m not mad. I pity you. Things didn’t have to be like this, Tae.”
“I agree. You should’ve chosen me. I wish…” My voice was losing its venom. I almost winced in pain as I said the next part. “I wish you could love me again.”
Her eyes softened a bit, like I chipped away a piece of the strong front she always put on. “Maybe in another life, we could’ve been happy together. But you had to go and orchestrate a murder. Work with hunters, a psychotic vampire, and a corrupted witch.” She ran a hand over her face, sighing loudly. “You’re in the middle of transitioning into a hybrid.”
“I know, I’m over the moon,” I said, enlarging my eyes to show her my excitement. I probably looked insane. “Even if you didn’t choose me, I chose you. And I’ll be yours even if you’re not truly mine. I still won.”
“That’s what you think. You need to drink my blood once more or you’ll die.”
“I know,” I said quickly, anticipating that tidbit. “You’ll give it to me soon enough.”
“What makes you so sure?”
“Because…” This was it. This was my moment! “I linked my life with Jungkook's. So if you don’t give me your blood, he’ll die.”
I let out a hearty laugh, but it quickly faded upon seeing her stoic expression. Why was she so calm?
“Okay, I’m confused,” I said. “You’re supposed to be devastated.”
She took another step forward and I almost tried to kiss her, desperate for her to be closer.
“There’s no easy way to say this,” she said. “So I’ll just tell you. I already knew about your life being linked to Jungkook’s.”
I’m sure confusion was etched into my features. What the hell was she talking about?
“Ari told me. Before she and Jimin were sent to a prison world.” Okay, not even I could predict that. Was I next? I wrestled against my restraints at the fear of being banished. I didn’t want to be away from her. “Calm down. I’m not sending you to one; it’s impossible without Ari’s blood anyway.”
I relaxed and stopped moving, so she continued, “It’s true that I would’ve cried at the thought of losing Jungkook and letting you win. But Ari left me with one last gift before she left.”
That bitch was lucky she went to a prison world because I had half a mind to burn her at the stake.
“And what was that?”
“She found my father. You see, he was trapped in my moonstone necklace after making a deal with a witch. In exchange for his freedom, the moonstone would be imbued with magic strong enough to grant me fertility. Of course, it would only work if I hadn’t died.”
She lowered her face closer to my level.
“I managed to release my father from the stone and ask him about some strange words Ari told me. Have you heard of the Mora Muserium?”
I shook my head. “You know I don’t know what that is.”
“Well, the Mora Muserium is an hourglass that can remove dark magic from people and store it. The spell Ari used to link your lives used dark magic.”
I processed what she was saying, my mind racing a mile a minute. She wasn’t possibly insinuating…
“The dark magic tethering him to you has been removed, Tae. He and you are no longer linked,” she revealed.
My face stiffened, the smile on my face I once had disappearing altogether. This couldn’t be true. My plan was fail-proof! “No! You’re lying! You’re fucking lying! He and I are connected forever! If you kill me, he dies! Do you really want to risk that?!”
“Tae…” she said, her tone full of pity. It angered me more. “It’s true. I’m sorry.”
“No, it’s not!” I was shouting at the top of my lungs. “You are sadly mistaken if you think I’m going to fall for your scare tactics! I don’t believe it one bit! Prove it!”
“After they removed the dark magic from the linking spell, my dad snapped his neck. Jungkook’s out cold while you’re… not.”
I dropped my jaw as I fell to my knees. “No…”
She got down on one knee, matching my level once more. “Jungkook will come back to life soon. But you won’t be here to see it.”
“So what? You’re going to kill me?” I spat.
“No. First your eyes will bleed. Then your body will be consumed in the most unimaginable pain you’ve ever felt. Like pure acid running through your veins, eating you alive inside out. It’ll be as painful to watch as it is to experience and lasts a long time before death finally consumes you.”
“You’re kidding me…”
“I’m not. I can’t bear to watch you suffer for that long so… someone else will put you out of your misery.”
She stood up and turned towards the gate. I narrowed my eyes to see a male figure approaching. He had a shotgun in his hand and a tool belt around his waist. The stench of vervain and wolfsbane from it was gag-inducing, and it made me sweat nervously too.
“Namjoon…” I muttered. He looked at me like I was trash. When I tried to reach [Y/N]’s hand, she had already stood up and walked over to the headmaster.
“Are you sure about this?” Namjoon asked. [Y/N] bit her lip but nodded slowly. My heart sank to the ground. “Leave it to me. Go. You don’t want to see this.”
She marched forward towards the exit, determined not to look back. Namjoon stood in front of me, pointing the shotgun straight at my chest. I looked him dead in the eye, slowly rising to my feet.
“Sorry it had to end this way. But you did this to yourself, Taehyung.”
“Some headmaster you are. Killing your own student.”
“[Y/N] was the one who asked me to do this.”
“No! Stop lying! She would never!”
I tried to run towards the gate, her back still in view as she walked away rather slowly. I knew deep down, she didn’t want this.
“[Y/N]! [Y/N], please! You’re going to just walk away? Even though you know you can save me?! Are you that heartless?!”
*BOOM!*
Fuck! My shoulder was stinging with pain from the poisoned bullet. I groaned in agony but remained standing, reaching out for her.
“[Y/N], please! I don’t want to die! All I ever wanted was—”
*BOOM!*
My left leg was fucked. I fell down to the cold ground, desperation being the only thing helping me stay conscious. She had covered her ears this time, but I knew my voice would reach her.
“[Y/N], I love you…” I breathed. “Even in my twisted, messed up, obsessive way. I love you and I just wanted you to choose me for once. For once…”
I heard Namjoon’s footsteps and him cocking the gun in preparation for the next shot. I tried to crawl away.
*BOOM!*
Now both my legs were done for. I cried. Wailed. Screamed as I laid on my back. I didn’t want to die, not unless it was for her. Not because of her.
“[Y/N], I’m sorry! Please… please don’t let me die. You’re better than that… you’re better than me… you’re different!”
The cock of Namjoon’s gun let me know my time was up. I closed my eyes and waited. I guess I finally lost.
“Wait, don’t shoot!”
Your Point of View
The words left your mouth without you realizing. Namjoon froze and Taehyung opened his eyes, seeing you run towards him. In a matter of seconds, you placed yourself in between him and the professor with your arms spread in a protective stance.
“Don’t kill him,” you begged.
“[Y/N], are you sure?” Namjoon asked. You looked over your shoulder to see Taehyung try to sit up.
“Stay down!” you shouted at him. Taehyung obeyed and laid as still as a wooden plank. “Don’t fucking move or try anything. I already regret this.”
You bit your wrist and bent down to the ground, forcing it into Taehyung’s mouth. His eyes widened in alarm, but he drank your blood nevertheless. Once he had his fill, you felt his emotions skyrocket — particularly joy.
“Stay still and stay seated until I tell you to move,” you commanded.
He sat in a criss-cross position, his smile beaming with pure bliss. “You love me. I can tell. I can feel it.”
“Shut up!”
You stood up and Namjoon slung his gun over his shoulder. “You want him alive?”
“I… I don’t know.” You were shaking and pretty soon close to hyperventilation until Namjoon centered you, reminding you that you were in a safe space.
“It’s okay. I’m not judging you,” He put his hands on your shoulders. “Talk to me.”
“I… I thought I was doing the right thing. He’s fucking insane, but at the same time… I thought about my childhood abuser. How I shoved him off, how he fell, how he was begging for me to call for help — but nothing was done. I let him die. He deserved it, but that was such an easy way out. He should’ve been rotting in jail or at least atoning for his sins. I didn’t want to do the same thing to Tae.”
“Breathe… breathe…”
You took a deep inhale and then let out a slow exhale. “This time I know about my blood and its healing properties. I couldn’t let him die… I thought I could, but it felt wrong. God, what’s wrong with me?”
Namjoon placed a finger to his lips. “Shh. No more talking down to yourself. You want to save him, then save him. It’s your blood. Now… you mentioned atoning for sins. Do you have something in mind for him?”
You turned your head to the side, seeing him stare at you with such an intensity that it made you self-conscious.
“Yeah… what are you going to do with me, oh great sire?” He was taunting you, but you didn’t let it deter you.
“I’m going to compel you to forget me.”
“What?! No. I refuse. Don’t do that, please. My love for you is the only thing that keeps me going. I can’t—”
“Taehyung? Stop talking.”
He had to oblige. Namjoon let go of you, crossing his arms over another.
“You’re absolutely sure this is what you want to do?”
You gave him a small smile. “Yes. Because maybe if he didn’t love me, didn’t know me, then he’d be different. He’d be able to focus on himself, finding himself.”
You then tilted your body at a 90 degree angle, startling the man in front of you.
“What are you doing? Why are you bowing?”
“I need your help. Please.”
“Okay, okay,” he said, waving his arms around and forcing you to stand up straight. “Anything for you. You don’t have to beg.”
“After I compel Taehyung, I need you to help him start a new life. He’s going to be a newborn hybrid. Please take care of him in my stead.”
“I will, I promise. Look… I’ll wait outside the cave while you say your goodbyes.”
You gave him your thanks and he left, the last sound being the creaky iron gate closing behind him. Then you walked over to Taehyung, who was crying softly.
“Taehyung… stand up. Let me look at you.” He got to his feet right away and you shoved your fingers in his bullet wounds, extracting each bullet out with skill and precision. Taehyung couldn’t even scream until you told him it was okay, so he stood still and endured. Once you were done, you held his face with both hands, wiping his tears away with your thumb. “What do you want to say? Tell me.”
“That I love you s-so much.” He closed his eyes, embracing the warmth of your hands. “Don’t make me forget you.”
“I have to.”
“But you love me too. I know it, don’t lie to me.”
“The sire bond is complicated. It heightens every emotion. You’re confused.”
His eyes fluttered open, a fire burning in his gaze. “I have never been more sure of anything in my life. You align my soul, [Y/N]. I’m incomplete without you. Please…”
You stood on your tiptoes to press a tender kiss on his forehead. He shuddered beneath you, wishing this moment could last forever.
“I need you to live your life and find yourself. As much as you say you want to be sired, I’d be withholding your freedom and that isn’t love. It’s abuse.”
“I don’t care. I don’t mind it. Not if it’s you.”
“Shh…” You put a finger to his lips, staring deep into his eyes.
“No. I don’t want to say goodbye. Please.”
Your pupils dilated as your compulsion ability kicked into gear.
“You will forget about me and your love for me completely. You’re going to live your life and do better, work on yourself, love yourself, understand that this is a second chance at life. Don’t waste it. After I uncuff you, you’re going to walk out of the caves and listen to Namjoon, who will help you learn how to be a hybrid.”
You worked quickly and removed his restraints. He walked out of the cave like a zombie, and you almost wanted to pass out from the stress. It shouldn’t have been that painful, but it was like you ripped off the biggest band aid. Taehyung had burrowed himself into your heart and despite your best efforts to extract all remains of him, he’d left a permanent scar.
The sire bond with Taehyung, although short-lived, had set your emotions in flux. The intensity of his love for you was very real, the ache in his heart when he was begging you to not erase his memories cut you deep like glass. After you compelled him, it felt like someone sawed your heart in half.
Letting someone go was never going to get easier, but you had one more person to talk to. Another bandaid. Another heartbreak.
Jungkook’s Point of View
I wished [Y/N]’s father had given me a warning. After placing my hand on the hourglass thingy, black smoke (which I assumed was the dark magic) formed inside. Professor Min had to ask, “How do we know if it worked?” before her dad snapped my neck so fast, almost as if he had waited his entire life to do so.
Even though I was going to come back to life, it didn’t make it hurt any less. All I could see was darkness. No sound, no sight, just unbearable loneliness. But then I saw a light in the distance and ran towards it.
The first thing I saw once I opened my eyes was her. She was caressing my head, running her hand through my hair. Her smile was kind, but her eyes were empty. Almost as if she was forcing herself to be present when she didn’t want to be. Still, she was goddamn beautiful.
I noticed the gauze on her neck and sat up immediately. “Are you okay? Your neck…”
She waved her hand in a dismissive manner, forcing me to lay back down. “I’m fine. It’s mostly healed anyway, take it easy. You just came back to life.”
I realized I was in my dorm room. Taehyung’s things had been cleared out already, so my side was the only one that had personality to it. I cringed seeing the mess of clothes, posters, and towels on the floor. I would’ve cleaned up had I known she would be here with me.
“Wouldn’t be the first time I died,” I gave her a soft smile as I reminisced about the memory. “Do you remember it?”
“How could I forget? That’s how everything started. The hunters killing you, me giving you my blood, you being sired… you hated it.”
There was a playfulness in her speech that made me chuckle. “I did. Oh, it was humiliating.”
“Yeah, so awful,” she said, playing along. “You hated me.”
“Well… I don’t. I haven’t for a while… and don’t think I ever truly did.”
Her eyes widened a bit and she rubbed her palms on her thighs anxiously. “It’s okay if you did. We were put in an uncomfortable situation.”
“No… it wasn’t.” I sat up with my pillow propped against the headboard and rested my back on top. I leaned forward and grabbed her hand. “I shouldn’t have been so mean back then. I let my pride get in the way. I’m sorry.”
She turned her head to the side, trying to hide her embarrassment. “Why are you apologizing now? We’re past this. Silly.”
“Because you deserve it. You deserve to hear that you were right. About everything. About… him.”
She finally looked at me, slowly retracting her hand, but I held it tightly. I feared if I let go, she’d disappear for good. Something about her hollow gaze earlier left a sinking feeling in my chest.
“If you’re going to apologize, then be specific.” She sounded exasperated and I wondered if I should’ve said nothing.
“I can sit here and blame Jimin for it all. Like how he kissed me, manipulated me into believing I enjoyed it. I can lie and say he’s the reason I didn’t believe you when I should’ve. But I won’t.”
“What’s your point?”
My voice started to crack as tears welled up in my eyes. “I’m a coward. I was scared. The sire bond ending terrified me. I thought you wouldn’t love me anymore, so maybe I pushed you away. Wanted to find an excuse to hate you, paint you like the villain you never were. I blamed you for things you didn’t do and I was wrong for it.”
No response. She only stared at our hands, so I intertwined my fingers with hers.
“Please say something,” I begged.
“While I waited for you to wake up, I read Sunghyun’s notebook. He was in love…”
“With you?”
“No. With us. He always rooted for us to be together. In his notes, he put down how much we belong together.” I saw how she was taking in quick breaths to calm down as tears formed in her eyes. “I’m sorry to disappoint him.”
“What are you talking about?”
She stared deep into my eyes, a grave expression on her face. “I’m leaving. Namjoon’s going to help me graduate early.”
“Well, where are you going? I’ll join you.” She shook her head before I finished my response.
“No. Jungkook, I’m leaving everything. Everyone.”
I held our intertwined hands against my chest. “No. Take me with you. Please.” I kissed the back of her hand, trembling so much that I thought I’d throw up.
“I can’t. I need to heal, I need space.”
“Then do it. I’ll give you all the space you need. Just don’t make this a goodbye.”
She pulled her hand away from me, using enough force so that I couldn’t stop her. She got up from her seat and turned her back towards me. Her fists tightened as her foot tapped the floor anxiously.
“I’m letting you go, so you can live your life. Just like I did for Taehyung.”
I’ve never moved so fast in my life. I scrambled to get out of bed, forcing her to turn around by gripping her shoulders.
“What is that supposed to mean? Isn’t Taehyung dead? Huh?” I shook her once to get her attention when she remained silent. “Answer me!”
“I gave him my blood.”
Her words sent my emotions into overdrive. Anger, jealousy, confusion were all fighting for dominance. “What?! Why on earth would you do that? That bastard deserves to be six feet under for everything he’s done!”
She pried my hands off her shoulders like she was repulsed to be touched by me. “Because I could! I have the ability to heal him so how could I just let him die?! I didn’t want his death to be on my conscience!”
“It wouldn’t have been! He would’ve died anyway!” I placed my hands on my hips. “So what, he’s sired to you now? You know damn well he isn’t going to turn 100 times to break it.”
“What does it matter?”
“It matters a whole damn lot, [Y/N]. He’s won. He wanted you and now he’s got you. And what’s worse is that you don’t seem to mind,” I ran a hand down my face, forcing a laugh at the ridiculous situation, but I was truly dying inside. “He’s tried to kill me, he’s lied, he’s backstabbed you, he was obsessed over you. He—”
“Chose me,” she said, interrupting me. “Despite all of it, he’s chosen me time and time again. I let him live because I wanted him to know I chose him at least once.”
“Do you love him?” I sounded so pathetic, but I had to know. Her silence was eating me alive. “Answer me.”
“If Taehyung had died… I would’ve been destroyed. I couldn’t carry that burden of knowing I could’ve saved him. If anyone were to die by my hands, it should’ve been Jimin.” Her eyes darkened, but I could sense the fury within her. She appeared calm on the surface, which made her even scarier in my eyes as she told me the next part. “I’m not sure if you know this, but Ari took her and Jimin to a prison world.”
“No… I didn’t know,” I breathed.
“So let me ask you this. If Jimin was here right now and I was about to kill him, would you let it happen?”
My arms slowly fell back down to my sides. My mouth was dry as I tried to form a response, but nothing came out. I felt heavy, anchored to the ground and immobilized by her question. Jimin deserved to die just like Taehyung did. I knew that. Why couldn’t I say anything?
“Do you love him?” she asked.
“No.” I didn’t sound convincing, but I meant it.
“See Jungkook? You say you don’t love Jimin, but you would save him too. Despite all he’s done. I can say I don’t love Taehyung, but I saved him anyway. Whether we want to admit it or not, we loved them in some capacity. Maybe not in the way they craved, but we did care for them.”
“Fine. You made your point. But what now, huh? Taehyung’s sired to you.”
She held her hand out in a stop motion. “I’m not finished talking. Taehyung’s… not sired to me. Not anymore.”
The relief that washed over me was overwhelming. “How?”
“I compelled him to forget about me.”
I didn’t need a sire bond to know what she was planning to do next. Fortunately, I was quicker than her and pinned her to the bed with my hand covering her eyes.
“Jungkook?”
“Please… please don’t do it,” My vision was blurry again with tears. “I know what you’re planning to do and I’m begging you to change your mind.”
She could easily overthrow me, but instead she reached her hand up to caress my face, smiling even though she couldn’t see me. “You know me so well…”
“Of course I do. After everything how could I not?”
“Then you understand why I want to do it.”
“No. I don’t. Is this my punishment? Do you wish for me to suffer?”
“Not at all.”
“I will spend the rest of my life making it up to you if I have to. Please let me love you, please… I’m sorry.”
I was crying so much that a tear fell onto her cheek. She didn’t wipe it away and I leaned into her touch, kissing her palm once.
“I want you to be able to live your life without being weighed down by me. The burden of everything, the trauma bonding—it’s not normal.”
“We’re not normal. Nothing about our lives is ever going to be normal. Maybe it’s not supposed to be.”
“You deserve a clean slate. To start over.”
“What’s the point if you’re not by my side?”
She sat up on the bed, but I didn’t remove my hand from her eyes. “I won’t erase everything. You’ll still remember me, but only as that girl that had a crush on you. How we sparred together sometimes. You won’t remember loving me.”
I gritted my teeth, wanting so badly to shout, but I knew I had to remain calm. It’s hard when you’re a blubbering mess though. “Erasing even a single memory of you is a crime. Each moment was a stepping stone that led me to you. There’s no point in compelling me to forget because my heart will yearn for you and only you.”
“Baby…”
“Without your love, I’m nothing. So please… stay with me. Hold on for a while longer. Let’s heal together.”
She slowly took my hand off her eyes and I let it happen. Next thing I knew, she grabbed me by my shirt, kissing me fervently, so desperate like she was afraid I’d disappear. It was ironic because all I could think about was keeping her close in case she’d vanish first.
I never broke our kiss as I pushed her down onto the bed, my body on top of hers. The way we melded together was perfect. I was made to hold her, to love her, and I wanted to show it. We were both crying because I tasted the saltiness of her tears as I kissed her.
There was no changing her mind. She knew it, I knew it. This was our goodbye kiss. So I prolonged it as best I could, caressing her face and kissing her deeper than before.
Then it happened. She caught me by surprise and flipped us around, her body now on top. My eyes opened like a stupid fool and she put her face right in front of me. Another tear cascaded down as her pupils dilated.
“You’re going to forget the fact you ever loved me. I’m just the girl who had a crush on you and trained with you, nothing more. I want you to live your life freely. If we ever cross paths again, don’t approach me. When I’m ready, I’ll come to you and you can decide then if you’ll have me. You’ll remember then. I love you, Jungkook.”
I blinked once, then twice, and my room was now empty. Sitting up, I wiped my tears away and reached my hand into my pocket. I pulled out a small, dried vervain flower and it burned when it came into contact with my skin. Compared to what I’ve been through, this pain was nothing. My moonlight had left me, fading away for good.
Until our next encounter.
a/n: Again, thank you for reading Moonstruck!!! I cried while writing the ending, I hope I made you feel something too. I do have an AO3 if you'd rather show support over there. Much love! 🌙💗
Stars Aligned
**I was inspired by the solar eclipse. It was my first time and probably last time experiencing it and it was everything! This is my first story so I hope you like it. English is not my first language so please do correct me if there's anything wrong. <3**
-> ~750 word
-> fluff
Today, April 8th, 2024, was destined to be a day etched into the tapestry of your shared history—a moment of cosmic significance that stirred excitement across North America. But for you and Jessie, it wasn't just about witnessing a total solar eclipse; it was about experiencing it together, sharing a bond that transcended mere scientific curiosity.
Since childhood, the mysteries of the cosmos had held you captive. From your early days crafting makeshift telescopes to the late-night stargazing sessions, there was an undeniable pull toward the heavens above. The infinite knowledge contained within trillions of light-years had always filled you with a sense of wonder and awe, making you feel simultaneously insignificant and connected to something greater than yourself.
Of course, you'd always dreamed of finding someone with whom you could share this passion—a kindred spirit who would listen to your ramblings about the Andromeda Galaxy and the Kuiper Belt with genuine interest. Someone who gave you the same heart palpitations and goofy smile that perseids did. And then, Jessie entered your orbit—a radiant burst of light in your universe.
Meeting during your college days at UCLA, she defied engineering student stereotypes with her intelligence, charm, and warmth. There was an instant connection, a gravitational pull drawing you together like celestial bodies in motion. You bonded over shared interests in Tim Horton's, Sidney Crosby, sustainable farming, and football, finding comfort and joy in each other's company.
As your friendship with Jessie blossomed into love, it felt like discovering a new constellation—a beautiful alignment of hearts and minds. Study sessions transformed into late nights spent under the star-studded sky, fingers entwined as you traced the paths of shooting stars, sharing dreams and fears in the quiet darkness.
Seven years had passed since those early days, but the magic between you remained as potent as ever. Jessie's beauty wasn't just in her freckled face or twinkling brown eyes; it was in the way she laughed, the way she listened, the way she made you feel like you were the center of her universe.
As the solar eclipse approached, you couldn't imagine experiencing it with anyone but Jessie. Together, you made plans to witness the celestial spectacle—a rare moment of cosmic harmony that promised to be nothing short of breathtaking.
Standing side by side, the air crackled with anticipation as the moon began its slow dance across the sun's fiery surface. Jessie's hand found yours in the darkness, fingers intertwining as you both watched in awe.
"It's incredible," Jessie whispered, her voice barely audible above the thrum of excitement. You stole a glance at her, struck once again by her beauty and the depth of her gaze.
Your heart swelled with emotion as you watched the eclipse unfold, feeling a sense of wonder and insignificance wash over you. It was as if the universe had paused just for the two of you, a moment of perfect alignment in an otherwise chaotic world.
As the eclipse reached its peak, you turned to Jessie, her face illuminated by the otherworldly glow. "I feel so small but so in sync with the whole Universe at the same time... I don't know how to describe it, it's just uniquely perfect."
Jessie nodded, her eyes reflecting the fading remnants of the eclipse. "It's like we're a tiny part of something so much bigger, yet connected to it in a way that's hard to put into words."
"I think you've said it all," you replied, grateful for her understanding.
As the eclipse waned and the world returned to normal, you felt a surge of love and gratitude for the woman by your side. Cupping her face in your hands, you leaned in to press a tender kiss to her lips, savoring the warmth and sweetness of the moment.
"I love you so much, Jessie," you whispered, your voice filled with emotion.
Jessie's cheeks flushed with emotion as she met your gaze. "I love you too, as big as the whole world, y/n." She wrapped her arms around you, pulling you close in a tight embrace.
And in that moment, as the last traces of the eclipse faded into the sky, you knew that your love for each other was as boundless as the universe itself. With Jessie by your side, you felt ready to face whatever challenges the future might hold, knowing that together, you could weather any storm.
As you both basked in the afterglow of the eclipse, the sky gradually regained its familiar hue, and the world resumed its normal rhythm. But the experience had left an indelible mark on your hearts, strengthening the bond between you in ways words could never fully capture.
“Do you think our parallel universe selves are together?” Chan asks quietly, watching patiently for a shooting star to cross the night sky.
Your hand brushes against his, sand follows with it, and you start to regret laying on the sand without a blanket underneath. “I like to think we are.” You reply, “That in every universe I’d find you, or you’d find me, and we’d save each other like we did here.”
Chan doesn’t fight the smile that comes to his face, bringing your hand to his lips to kiss, sputtering when grains of sand land on his tongue.
A laugh comes from you, and Chan melts at the sound. He stares at you like you’re the only one in the world, and in his eyes, you truly are.
“It’s five in the morning.”
At your groggy tone, Minho stares at the clock. Red digits blink tauntingly at him, and he fights the urge to throw the clock across the room. “It’s night over here.”
Silence falls through the line. Minho thinks you’d fallen back asleep– he doesn’t blame you. “I miss you.” He says. He’d only say it when he thinks you aren’t listening. “I want to see you so, so bad.”
He settles onto his bed, looking out the window, staring at the moon who smiles back at him. He scowls. He couldn’t help it. “When I come back home to you, let’s go stargazing.”
He hears you shuffle but doesn’t speak another word. Though his lips curve into a smile when he hears you sleepily mumble out an “okay.”
“Have you taken a break?”
You look at Changbin from the corner of your eye, your typing never stopping even when he’d lean against your desk beside you. “Yes?”
“Honey,” he says, closing his eyes in exhaustion when you don’t acknowledge him any further. “You’re going to burn yourself out if you keep this up.”
“I need you to understand something, Bin.” He nods, lowering himself to his knees to look at you. “I won’t be able to focus on you if this report isn’t done.” He nods again. “I want to be with you, I want to take a break, but I just can’t allow myself to do it right now.” He stands back up, pinching your cheek lightly with a smile.
“I’ll stay with you, maybe get some work done too. Is that okay?” You nod, grateful that he’s always understanding. Even if you’d both be working and not acknowledging each other, just being together was enough for him.
“I think this is cruel and unjust punishment,” Hyunjin says, holding his arms up awkwardly as you mark his skin with dotted lines. “I only ate your food. I thought as a couple we could share things like that.”
“Leftovers are one thing, new food is another.” You say, slapping another sticky note on his body, smiling at the way his eyes close with irritation. “You don’t like me touching you?”
His ears flush red, but the irritation is still apparent on his face as he looks at his body littered with anatomy notes. “I do, but not when it’s study-related.”
“Don’t eat my food then.” You shrug, moving behind him. He feels the marker glide over his shoulder blades, the muscles contracting at the temperature. A kiss on his shoulder makes his body warm, “Thanks for letting me do this.”
“I didn’t,” he grumbles, then in a quieter voice, “You're welcome.”
“Can you wash the dishes?” Jisung looks up at you with pleading eyes, then shuffles over to you when you don’t look up from the magazine in your hands. “Baby, please.”
Your hand brushes his hair back, fingers massaging his head lightly. Jisung nearly moans at the feeling, slumping against your body while your hands travel to the nape of his neck. “Why?”
“I don’t want to do them.” He laughs quietly at his confession, tilting his head when your thumb brushes over his pulse point. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay,” you tell him, smiling when his hair tickles your skin. “Will you do something else instead?” You ask, rubbing his back gently. “If you don’t mind.”
Jisung hums, kissing your arm softly. “I’ll take care of the laundry.”
“When’s the last time we kissed?”
Your eyes flicker to Felix, though there’s a wall of pillows hiding him from you. “I can’t remember.” You turn over, and he’s still facing the ceiling– you’re assuming. “Do you miss me?”
Felix doesn’t respond like you want him to. He keeps quiet and stares at the ceiling decorated with glow-in-the-dark stars you two had put up when you moved in.
“I’m sorry for what I said.” He whispers. The pillow closest to your leg gets tossed to the side. “I didn’t mean it. I was angry and– and you were yelling at me, but you were crying, so I was torn between being mad and comforting you.” The pillow near your waist moved next. “I’m so sorry I hurt you.”
Finally, the last pillow moved. Felix was crying, not hiding the tears that flowed and dampened his pillow.
“You're holding the bat wrong.” You roll your eyes at Seungmin, groaning when he comes up behind you to adjust your stance. “The way you were standing, you’d trip before you could even leave the plate.”
Seungmin smiles when you lean the slightest into him, nudging you back into place after a second. “Weren’t you a shortstop and the cleanup?”
“Yeah,” you laughed. Pointing the bat at his chest. “That’s how we met.” He smiles, leaning over your shoulder to kiss you. “I’m glad we made the bet that day.”
He quirks a brow, “You’re glad we made a bet that the loser takes the winner on a date? And your team lost?” Your elbow jabs into his stomach, a small groan of pain coming from him.
“Even if my team lost, I won 'cause I got you.”
“Have you gotten any sleep lately?”
You hum, holding the phone between your shoulder and ear. “Can’t sleep without you.” He tuts, and even though you couldn’t see him, you knew he was wagging his finger and shaking his head.
“Baby, you need to rest.”
“I am,” you tell him. It wasn’t a lie. “It just doesn’t come as easy as it does when you’re here.” Jeongin sighs, shuffling about on his end. “Have you been sleeping well?”
“Of course, I actually have a blanket at night.” A chuckle comes from you. Jeongin succeeds in his mission of lifting your mood. “I miss you though. I can’t wait to see you again.”
You hum, smiling to yourself at his open affection. “I’ll be waiting for you.” You can hear his grin through the phone, your smile growing when he laughs quietly.
𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙨 𝙈𝙚𝙚𝙩 | 𝙔.𝙅.
Pairing ⇀ Idol Bf! Yang Jungwon x Gn! Reader
Synopsis ⇀ You and Jungwon decided to have a date at the park.
Genre ⇀ Fluff
Notes ⇀ Jungwon has been bias wrecking me so I made a drabble.
Masterlist here
The sun was beginning to set, casting a golden glow over the park where you and Jungwon had decided to meet.
It was a rare evening where both of you had some free time, and you wanted to make the most of it.
As you hugged him, you noticed he had a bag with him, “What’s with the bag?” You asked.
Jungwon gave you a teasing smile, “Just for later.” He responded.
As you walked along the path lined with cherry blossom trees, Jungwon reached out and gently took your hand. His touch was warm and reassuring, and you felt a flutter in your chest.
“How has college been?” Jungwon suddenly questioned.
“It’s been nice, me and my friends planned on hanging out at the library to study.” You said. Jungwon hummed in response.
“What about you?” You said.
He looked at you with his cat like eyes, “I’ve been getting there with the members.” He responded. You giggled at his response.
You understand how hard working he’s been lately, so you don’t pressure him that often anymore.
You could tell that he’s tired, but he wanted to spend time with you as much as possible until their next comeback. You were grateful that Jungwon didn’t forget you.
The two of you strolled in comfortable silence, enjoying the beauty of the moment and each other's company.
Eventually, you found a cozy spot by the lake, where the water reflected the hues of the setting sun.
Jungwon spread out a blanket he'd brought along, and you both sat down, leaning against each other.
He pulled out a small box from his bag, revealing a selection of your favorite snacks.
"I thought we could have a little picnic," he said with a shy smile.
You couldn't help but smile back, touched by his thoughtfulness.
As you shared the snacks and talked about everything and nothing, the world seemed to fade away, leaving just the two of you in your own little bubble of happiness.
As the sky darkened and stars began to appear, Jungwon wrapped an arm around you, pulling you closer. "I'm really glad we could spend this time together," he whispered. "It feels like everything is perfect when I'm with you."
You looked up at him, your heart swelling with affection. "Me too, Jungwon. This is perfect."
Under the starlit sky, you both felt an unspoken promise of many more beautiful moments to come.
The night grew cooler, and Jungwon noticed you shiver slightly. Without a word, he took off his jacket and draped it over your shoulders.
“I don't want you to catch a cold," he said softly, his eyes filled with concern.
"Thank you," you replied, snuggling into the warmth of his jacket. "You're always so thoughtful."
Jungwon's cheeks flushed slightly, and he looked away, a small smile playing on his lips. "I just want to make sure you're comfortable and happy."
You leaned your head against his shoulder, feeling a sense of contentment wash over you. "You always do," you murmured.
As the evening went on, you both lay back on the blanket, gazing up at the stars.
Jungwon pointed out constellations, sharing stories and myths associated with them. His voice was soothing, and you found yourself getting lost in his words.
"Did you know," Jungwon began, "that some people believe if you see a shooting star and make a wish, it will come true?"
You looked at him, intrigued. "Really? Have you ever made a wish on a shooting star?"
He nodded, a distant look in his eyes. "I have. And some of those wishes have come true."
Just as he finished speaking, a shooting star streaked across the sky.
You both gasped in unison, and without thinking, you closed your eyes and made a wish.
When you opened them, you found Jungwon looking at you intently.
"What did you wish for?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
You hesitated for a moment, then decided to be honest. "I wished for more moments like this with you."
Jungwon's eyes softened, and he reached out to gently cup your cheek. "I wished for the same thing," he admitted.
In that moment, it felt as though the universe had aligned just for the two of you.
The connection you shared was deep and undeniable, and you knew that this evening was something you won’t forget.
As the night wore on, you both reluctantly decided it was time to head back. Jungwon helped you up and packed away the picnic items.
Hand in hand, you walked back through the park, the cherry blossom trees now bathed in the soft light of the moon.
When you reached your house, Jungwon walked you to your door.
He paused for a moment, looking into your eyes. "Thank you for tonight," he said sincerely. "It was perfect."
"Thank you, Jungwon," you replied. "I had an amazing time."
He leaned in and placed a gentle kiss on your forehead. "Goodnight," he whispered.
"Goodnight," you echoed, watching as he walked away, a smile on your lips.
As you closed the door behind you, you couldn't help but feel that same feeling of warmth across your chest.
With Jungwon by your side, you knew that many more romantic evenings awaited.
ACOSM | The Night she decided to join the Bloodrite
azriel x rhysand's sister (oc)
warnings: mention of violence, val's dad being an asshole again
summary: Valeria realizes that the only person she has to prove her worth to is herself.
A/N: we're finally at the last imagine! (you can find the collection of them here) this is one of the first ones I wrote and I've been dying to post it lol. I had originally planned for this series to end here but then I decided to write a short story that focuses/provides closure on Az's and Val's mating bond.
**
As Valeria stood on the balcony, the ethereal glow of Starfall painted the night sky in hues of pale greens and blues. The annual migration of spirits race across the heavens like shooting stars, leaving a luminescent trail that left the world below aglow.
For Valeria, however, the beauty of Starfall was a double-edged sword.
She could hear the whispers of the spirits as they streaked across the night sky. It was like a collective murmur of voices of which she could not discern, which made it all overwhelming and disconcerting. It’s been this way since she was a child and she never fully understood why she was the only one able to hear them.
The first Starfall she could remember was when she was three. Every year, the High Lord would throw a ball at the House of Wind as it was the best place to view the falling spirits. Her mother had brought her to the balcony she currently stood at, holding her in her arms.
There was a silence as the guests waited for the first star to fall, hushed whispers of awe when it finally did. Valeria remembered the beauty of it all but more so when one star became two until they multiplied and then she heard them. The spirits. She had let out a cry, her small hands covering her ears as the voices became too much. Her mother had brought her inside and a worried Rhysand had walked over to them.
Valeria also remembered the look of disdain and disappointment on her father’s face–the first of many to come.
Shadows whirled around her, bringing her back to the present and weaving through her senses. The whispering voices, like distant echoes, grew faint, muffled by the protective shroud of Azriel’s shadows. Valeria’s eyes met his, gratitude and relief reflected in the pale moonlight.
“Should we head inside?” Azriel offered, extending his arm out to her. “Before Mor and Cas drink all the wine.”
Valeria nodded, hooking her arm through his. She could feel the warmth radiating from his body and instinctively, she leaned in closer to him, finding his scent comforting. “You smell good,” she murmured to him as she inhaled.
Azriel chuckled in response, savoring their close proximity. No one batted an eye toward them as they made their way inside. Azriel was known as the Night Court’s spymaster and his duty was to ensure the safety of his court. It was not uncommon to see him around the High Lord and his family, especially Rhysand and Valeria.
“My little warrior!” Cassian called out to her sweetly, words slightly slurred, as he jumped from his seat and pulled Valeria from Azriel, crushing to her chest. He pulled away with a grin, nodding at Azriel casually. “And Az.”
“I can feel the love.” Azriel dryly commented.
“Come here, Val.” Mor said, patting the empty spot on the couch.
“How many glasses of wine have you had?” Valeria mused as she sat down, gaze flickering between Mor and Cassian.
“Yes.” Mor grinned at her as she poured a glass for Valeria and then another for Azriel.
Save some for me.
Has anyone told you it’s rude to enter one’s mind without permission? Valeria replied to her brother’s voice, sending him a vulgar gesture through her mind. She could hear his chuckle fade into the distance.
Knock knock. Her brother’s talons were playfully tapping at her mind’s shields again.
With a roll of her eyes, she allowed them in, asking him what he wanted. He decided to show her instead. Through his eyes, she saw the lords and her father standing before him. They were all discussing the growing tensions among the humans and fae and the battles of rebellion that have risen. Keir was speaking, boasting about his Darkbringers and how they could put an end to the war before it can even begin. She could feel Rhysand’s boredom as Keir kept talking.
Come save me.
Sorry brother but I find this couch to be rather comfy, Valeria replied, her tone teasing. She grinned as Rhysand sent her a vulgar gesture of his own through his mind.
“--helping with preparations for the upcoming bloodrite.”
Valeria brought her wine glass to her lips as she returned her attention to her friends. She caught her brother’s glare from across the room but ignored it.
“Can you believe it’s been three years since you went?” Mor asked them. “And look at you Carynthians now. A general, a spymaster and a future High Lord.”
Valeria’s fond smile mirrored Mor’s and she turned, catching the way both Cassian’s and Azriel’s cheeks tinted at the praise.
“Do you think they’re ready?” Valeria found herself asking, referring to the warriors Cassian had helped train this year.
“I wasn’t ready when I was in their shoes.” Cassian said after a moment of thought. “I don’t think you’ll ever feel ready for something like that. But I was brave and that’s the best thing one can be.”
Valeria hummed in response, cradling her wine glass in her hands. Intrigued by the upcoming Bloodrite, she found herself firing more questions at Cassian while Mor and Azriel fell into a conversation of their own.
They were questions she didn’t dare to ask Rhysand or Azriel, knowing they wouldn’t be blatantly honest about it for her sake. Without a second thought, Cassian answered each one, much like he did when she had asked about Tanwyn and the Valkyries.
He failed to notice the gleam in her eyes as she took in every detail of information.
**
Valeria paced back and forth, attempting to stir up the courage that had led her to the heavy set of double doors. She made up her mind weeks ago–told herself she could do this. But as she stopped her pacing and faced the doors to the High Lord’s throne room, her hands broke out into a cold sweat.
She hated herself for it, for the instant fear that brewed in her when it came to him. Her father.
Since that night in Windhaven, he had chosen to go back to ignoring her presence completely, as if she didn’t exist at all.
I am the storm. She repeated to herself.
Val, now is not a good time.
Now is the only time. She replied, cursing herself for being so nervous and anxious that she had absentmindedly let her mental guards down.
Before Rhysand could reply, she pulled the doors open and strolled in. Her eyes darted around–widening for a fraction before she donned a composed mask.
I told you so.
She ignored her brother’s voice–this time cursing him directly– and did her best to ignore the presence of the others in the room. Cassian and Azriel looked toward her, the latter standing to attention. Meanwhile Keir looked at her with annoyance. There was another lord that she recognized as one of the High Lord’s advisors but she didn’t recognize the older Illyrian male standing next to Cassian. She could only assume he was also a general.
Her father scowled, his lips curving into a sneer. “What do you want, child?”
She tried her best not to flinch at the insult.
“I want to join the fight.”
Laughter erupted from the High Lord, followed by Keir’s. “You want to fight?”
“I’ve trained with the Valkyries in the past and–”
“Remind me how that ended for you.” Her father sharply interrupted.
The reminder of that night triggered a subtle twitch in one of the muscles on the right side of her back–the very spot where her injured wing, glamored away for the night, would attach. Rhysand’s body tensed. She felt Azriel shift closer, a muscle tightening in his jaw while his shadows loomed nearby, alert and ready. Even Cassian’s expression hardened, mouth set into a hard line.
“It was hardly a fair match, Father.” Rhysand spoke as he came to stand in between his sister and father. “Val has the–”
“And you think war is won by fair matches?” His father reprimanded. “I thought I’ve taught you better than that.”
Anger flooded through her veins. “I’m not going to stay sheltered in this palace while our people go to war for us. I want to stand with them, not behind them. I want to bring honor to our court.”
“Clearly, you do not know your place. You’d know that the only way you can bring honor to this court is by marrying–”
“I refuse to be treated as a bargaining tool as if I am an object!” Valeria snapped, shocked by the intensity of her own voice. Though quieter when she spoke next, her voice retained the same powerful understone as she added: “I would rather die fighting to serve my court than offer my hand to a stranger.”
She felt the sting on her cheek almost immediately, her feet stumbling backwards at the impact. A low growl erupted from behind her as strong hands caught her before she could stumble further. Shadows crept out from his grip and wrapped themselves around her as if to protect her from further harm.
Rhysand stilled, his hands clenching at his sides. His calm and collected demeanor fell, no longer being able to hide the glare toward his father. He moved to stand in front of Valeria, offering his body as a shield, in case their father chose to strike again.
“You stupid foolish girl.” The High Lord chuckled with fury in his eyes, his voice rising with every word. “Sons get sent to war. Daughters get married. Rhysand is my heir. He was born to serve and protect. You were born to obey and submit.”
“Count your stars lucky that these three–foolish as they were– saved you that night.” The High Lord continued. “They will not be able to save you next time so I suggest you leave before I decide to clip your wings myself and strip this fighting nonsense off of you.”
Valeria felt her anger morph into her power. She could feel the light surging through her, running down her arms and into her finger tips. She wanted nothing more than to wipe that smug look off of her father’s face. A small part of her wanted to light him up, the way she did those Illyrian men that night. If only he knew…
She felt a hand grasp hers, darkness wrapping itself around his fingertips and dimming her light. Don’t explode. Not here, Rhysand spoke in her mind.
“There will be no next time.” Rhysand said, his voice carrying an almost threatening undertone. He would not allow her father to inflict any more harm on his sister. “If you allow me, I’ll escort Valeria to her chambers. I believe some rest will settle her mind.”
The High Lord nodded his head in dismissal and Rhysand wasted no time in escorting her out of his office. Rhysand released his grip on Valeria's hand and wrapped his arm around her shoulders instead, allowing his darkness to wrap around her silver flames. Neither of them spoke as they made the long trek to her chambers and neither of them paid attention to the tendril of a shadow that followed along with them.
It wasn’t until they were in Valeria’s chambers that she let her shoulders slump, tears brimming her violet eyes but she did not allow them to fall.
“What were you thinking?”
Valeria shot him an incredulous look as if he hadn’t been in her mind the entire time. He knew exactly what she was thinking and why. Rhysand sighed deeply and sat at the edge of her bed, patting the spot beside him. Valeria reluctantly listened and watched in silence as he summoned a small bowl of warm water and a cloth. “You’re bleeding,” he softly said.
Her hand shot up to her cheek, wincing at the sting, pulling her hand away to see that she was, in fact, bleeding. One of her father’s rings must’ve cut her when he slapped her. It was the first time he had ever laid hands on her.
Valeria knew the answer to the question but she needed to hear it aloud. “Is my sole purpose in life to obey and submit to others?”
“Of course not.” Rhysand immediately answered as he finished cleaning the dried up blood from her face. He gently cupped her unharmed cheek. “You're destined for a greater purpose. Fuck what father says.”
A subtle curve graced Valeria’s lips in response to Rhysand’s insult, only to fade back into a frown. She pulled away from his grasp. “What will it take to prove to him that I am worthy of so much more than he has planned for me?”
“I failed him at birth and I’ve dedicated my life to prove my worth to him. I may have not been born a son but why does that anger him so much? He already has you, his heir. I understand the politics of this war. I can fight. I want to fight.”
“I know you can.” Rhysand said, acknowledging her skills and capabilities. Had it not been for her father putting an end to her training with the Valkyries, he was sure she would’ve been initiated as a Valkyrie herself. “But don’t dedicate your life to proving yourself to others. The only person you need to prove your worth to is yourself.”
Silence fell as Rhysand’s words sunk in. He was right. Her trying to prove her worth to others would only weigh her down. Noticing the distant gaze on his sister, his powers reached for her mind, easily granting him access to her inner turmoil.
It only lasted a couple of seconds as Valeria’s mental shields rose and he blinked back to find that she was now glaring at him.
“Can you not?”
Rhysand raised his hands up. “It’s not my fault you let your shields down for a moment.”
Have I taught you nothing?
Valeria let out a groan. “Go away now. I’m tired.”
“That’s no way to treat your loving brother.”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever.” She said as she stood up, motioning for him to follow her and go out her door.
Rhysand rolled his eyes at her antics but complied. She slammed the door shut, pressing herself against it. “Love you. Good night!”
Love you too.
Valeria huffed at the sound of her brother’s laughter in her head. She closed her eyes and focused, pushing his claws out of her head. He scraped against her rising shields in a teasing manner only for her to shoot him with light and far away from the gates of her mind that she felt him wince.
It was when she was sure that Rhysand could no longer get into her head that she walked out to her balcony. She stared up at the crescent moon, finding comfort in its light and falling deep in thought again.
It unsettled her to know that her brother, Azriel and Cassian were being sent to war. Even Mor was preparing for it as she was no longer under her father’s rule but Rhysand’s. He had taken full responsibility over her when she had moved in with them. As for Valeria, she was expected to just sit back and wait for war updates with her mother. She could not bear the thought of doing nothing while her loved ones laid their lives down for the Night Court. Especially not when she had dedicated the past five years of her life into training to defend herself, to fight.
Rhysand was right. She knew what she was capable of. She had not been saved that night in Windhaven. She had fought against five skilled Illyrian warriors by herself and she was willing to die fighting.
Valeria was aware that fighting in a war was different. It required not only courage and strength but strategy and resolve. And what better way to prove to herself that she was ready–that she was worthy–than by joining the upcoming Blood Rite?
It was like Cassian had said, she would never feel ready for a strenuous trial like the Blood Rite. But she was brave to face it and that’s the best thing one can be.
A/N: and that's a wrap on Val's early life (': the storyline I have planned will pick up right after the blood rite and you'll get a glimpse into her experience. I debated a lot on whether Val should join the blood rite or not. I decided to allow her because all she wants is to be treated with the same love and respect like her brother minus the heir part and while she gave up on what others may think of her, this is something she needed to do for herself. and also a part of her is doing this to honor her friend, Mallory Anyway, I hope y'all enjoyed these imagines as much as I enjoyed writing them <3 I will be taking a short break to focus on my upcoming exam but if you have any questions over this series or simply just wanna talk, feel free to send me an ask!
