It is no easy thing to show mercy in the midst of war. The aftermath of clashing ideals, a winner and a loser, and where that leaves you both. Hatred spurred many a wounded soldier to spit venom at those carting them to aid, but there was fear as well; they had fought and lost, and their own had not come to retrieve them. Lukas had no doubts that many feared what their fates might be now, at the mercy of their enemies.
Lukas did not feel fear in this moment. Even if he had no connection to the man in front of him now, terror never could seem to get a firm grasp on his heart.
He smiles at that, a little too wide and a hollowness behind his eyes.
"A fair conclusion to make. I am not from these lands, and as such, there are some things that will always be outside of my understanding," he says, weariness showing in his voice more than on his face. "If I made a disappointing student, I fear I should apologize for that as well. You shared a great deal with me, and though my actions may speak otherwise to you, I hope you trust that did take it to heart." However small his heart may feel at times, it still had room in it for those he chose.
A person's life was more important than their beliefs should they be too weak to fight...And yet, how many had done just that? How many, equipped or not, knowing what they were committing to or not, had died for what they believed in?
What was one man's folly was another's driving force. Perhaps it was foolish. A waste of life and potential. But so long as they had not been coerced or forced, was it not their choice to fight and die for those beliefs?
Hostage. Lukas couldn't help but find a dark humor in the irony of his situation.
"I understand. I've caused you enough trouble, Matthias, I do not intend to draw that out. The war is ongoing, and I am merely a piece that has been removed from play. I know my place." He didn't have any means to return -- as the other had stated -- and in his current condition, he could hardly have made an attempt even if he had.
Lukas knew the price war extracted, but he could spare Matthias the illogical hope of safekeeping all those he cared for in this conflict.
"Florentin...," he echoes the name, filing it away for later, "I am in his debt, as I am yours." Fatigued and injured as he is, when Matthias guides him to his feet, it's like slipping on a familiar glove to spur his battered body into moving again. Were he able to feel the pain that came with the weakness he registered in his leg, he might not have been so quick to force obedience from his body.
But he doesn't, and it serves him well enough in this moment, even if he can hear familiar chastising ringing in his head.
"Perhaps," Lukas hums, undecided and entirely unhelpful in his vagueness. "Is that what regret is, surrender? Do you regret your choice?" It was a genuine question.

OC Profile: Davi
Art by @cringeyvanillamilk, edited to icon size by me.
"We're not exactly sure where he came from, but he's become a fine member of the monastery. Davi has the heart of a knight, but he has a laid back side as well. I get the feeling he keeps us all at arms length, though. I wish to know him better. He seems particularly awkward around Felix, Dedue, and is actively avoiding Seteth and Flayn." -- Dimitri about Davi.

Hi. I'm here to show everyone my baby for FE OC Week.
Her name is Vivian Timurovna. She's an apprentice to Hanneman in Crest research, looking to find answers to something that haunts her past. She half Fodlani and half Albinean. Technically, she's second in line to the Albinean throne, just behind her older brother.
Fun game stuff under the cut!
Template by @peachiehambo
She's technically an au oc. Essentially, au where everything stays the same except what if the Brigid-Dagda wars happened earlier? and what if Albinea got involved lol?
Also, she does have a war phase design. but i cant find that image for the life of me. so just trust it exists!
Her alignment pre-timeskip is to the church by technicallity, but once war starts she hits da bricks to Leicester. She stays there for a year and a half before leaving for albinea to look for her brother who she parted from when the monastery fell. She doesnt find him there but she takes the crown in his place. She returns to fodlan in 1185 to help continue the fight
Fun fact: if she were an actual character, she would not be recruitable in crimson flower in the same way as hilda. She would be recruitable in silver snow, but only optionally in a paralogue.
Her personal skill would be something called Stay With Me. I imagine it working like "At the start of Player Phase, any ally within 3 spaces of Vivian recovers health equal to 25% of damage she sustained in enemy phase."
She would have a personal class! it's working name is Kulikovo. It would work similar to the Malig Knight class in Fates. except she would wield dual swords instead of an axe.
I don't know what all else to add here. so I will just thank you for taking the time to meet my baby bibi <3

you have this person to blame
this is not all of my PokeFodlan ideas but it IS the Lords and a few others
Edelgard
Spiritomb: The amalgamated souls of her deceased family. It tries to help Edelgard out, but it’s not really good at anything but fighting.
Houndoom: Edelgard’s starter. It’s tried to protect Edelgard from the Agarthans, but has always failed. Has a bit of a complex about it.
Chesnaught: Part of Edelgard’s cover as a normal student. It has literally no idea about Edelgard’s plans for the future. Head Empty, Heart Full.
Trevanent: The second Pokemon Edelgard ever caught, right next to the dungeon where she was kept during the experiments.
Walrein: A gift from Ladislava before the school year started. Thinks of itself as Edelgard’s bodyguard. It and Hubert hang out a lot.
Porygon Z: An Agarthan creation foisted off on Edelgard during the timeskip. Their relationship is best summed up as “spitefriends”.
CF: Another Agarthan creation who assists Edelgard in freeing Fodlan. It can Warp AND Dance simultaneously, boosting team efficiency. Yes, you can combine this with Edelgard’s Raging Storm.
AM/SS: Giratina shows up to support Edelgard in her hour of need. It essentially acts as a Hegemon Edelgard, sniping you from long-range. This means you will have to deal with the AM and VW Edelgard fights *simultaneously.*
Dimitri
Cofagrigus: The ghost/reincarnation of Lambert, Dimitri’s father. Their relationship is DEEPLY screwy, and only makes Dimitri’s mental health decline faster.
Pangoro: It used to revere Dimitri as a hero. After the timeskip... Well, it's in the same boat as Dedue is.
Grimmsnarl: Technically, Impidimp was Dimitri’s starter. Went through the Tragedy alongside him, and evolved through sheer trauma.
Kingdra: A present from Rodrigue. It’s a bit ambivalent towards most things, but it’ll help out all the same.
Donphan: Literally the only non-traumatised member of the team. Will happily roll over things! Including Dimitri! :D
Aggron: Lambert’s ace, recovered during the timeskip. It will do anything to protect Dimitri, even if that means hurting him.
AM: Zekrom assists Dimitri with building a truly ideal world. It gives every character Canto, regardless of whether or not they’re on a mount.
CF: Yveltal will destroy anyone who gets in Dimitri’s way. It installs a hard turn limit on the battle, and if Dimitri is not defeated in time, it will kill every single unit on the field for an instant game over.
Claude
Altaria: Caught in Fodlan. Would actually murder a man for Claude. Would enjoy the chance to do so! Yes, this is PokeHubert.
Noivern: Caught in Almyra. BIG! LOUD! ULTIMATE FRIENDSHIP! It ruins a lot of Claude’s plans, but he loves it anyway.
Yanmega: Exhausted big brother who has to put up with little brother Claude’s nonsense. Has kept him alive for years.
Mandibuzz: An Almyran native Pokemon that followed Claude across the country. Laughs at everything, especially Claude.
Thievul: Claude’s partner in crime. Helps him with all schemes, even the self-destructive ones.
Breloom: Forced upon Claude by Judith during the timeskip. It’s there to keep him alive, and typically does it by Stun Sporing anything that gets close.
VW: Reshiram will help Claude to uncover the truth of Fodlan. All battalions are now Gambit Boosted x3, even if a character is on their own, and also burns away Fog of War.
Rhea
Bronzong: Rhea’s starter. Immeasurably old. Sometimes it lets Rhea hide inside it when she’s feeling unsafe.
Banette: Rhea’s childhood doll given life. It found her during the 560s, and they’re absolutely awful together.
Gloom: She thinks that Gloom smells like a sweet bouquet of flowers due to being Nabatean. It’s part of why everyone thinks Rhea is a bit strange in this AU.
Hitmonchan: A sparring partner. They regularly beat the shit out of each other for fun every now and then.
Flygon: Big Sad Boy. Rhea saved it as a Trapinch, and now it’s obsessed with flying her places. Even places she does not want to go. FLY, RHEA. IT IS FLYING TIME NOW.
Cresselia: A kindly Legendary who looks out for the dreams of all who dwell within Garreg Mach. They spend a lot of time keeping Rhea in peaceful sleep.
SS: Regigigas was the sole partner of Sothis, and is now the last link to Rhea’s old home. It can change the Terrain of any tile to make moving much, much more painful - PoisonFireSand tiles say hello!
CF: Regileki & Regidrago power up the Immaculate One until it’s literally starting to melt from the sheer power. It can now strike you with magic damage from anywhere on the map.
Nemesis: A real jackass. Basically enslaved a bunch of Legendaries and got to work murdering everybody he could. Basically Fodlan Tobias.
Type Null, Genesect, Darkrai, Groudon, Kyurem: All caught against their will and/or modified by the Agarthans for his use.
Zygarde: The only one that Nemesis didn’t enslave. It’s not a fan of the Nabateans at all, due to them not being native to Fodlan, and activately works with Nemesis to kill them. All of the Elites have 10% Zygardes, while Nemesis himself has a Complete Forme.

I'm gonna answer your questions and elaborate on previously stated hcs. Will probably make a part 2 sometime in the future. Lots of things to share but I keep losing steam writing it all down.
He was a scholar in Zanado! He's the naturally curious type, decently knowledgeable at flora & fauna, weaponry & warfare, and art & literature. He tries to learn about anything he finds interesting, including humans doing human things, even post-WoH. That's one of the reasons he knew what Faerghus' situation was and decided to help them.
No, he doesn't dual-wield (often). He uses the less fancy, non-healing sword for skirmishes and stuff, and uses the cool nabatean one for bigger conflicts.
Hair colour thing is from the crest stone damage. Supreme Leader has more than enough reasons to hate him lol. 1) he keeps killing TWS agents. 2) Stalks the ones he couldn't kill and thwarts their plans. 3) Somehow Knows secrets she's trying to hide. She doesn't find out he's a lizard until much later. (There are many benefits to premature greying)
I have this post-canon scene in mind where Rhea comes clean to her fam about the stuff she was up to. Seteth and Flayn are utterly shocked but Pan's just sipping his tea, his entire being screaming 'disappointed but not surprised'. Rhea is surprised at this reaction and Pan just says "I've known you your entire life, I know the kinda unhinged stuff you're capable of. Doesn't mean I approve tho."
I also have another thingy that's part of a different set of hcs on how Pan could interact with canon. So Pan first meets billy post-timeskip (or just before timeskip) and immediately starts trying to figure out wtf is going on with them. He comes to the conclusions that 1) billy is a hybrid, hence must be protected 2) they are not Nemesis-spawn but have Sothis' creststone in them because that's the other (original) way to get a crest AND is needed to use a heroes' relic 3) this better not be Rhea's doing, he swears to Sothis he's gonna bury himself under a mountain for the next millennia.
His opinion on Sothis resurrection is that it's impossible. Like, She's their progenitor, capable of creating countless nabateans without breaking a sweat. It is impossible for them to even comprehend the kind of power she holds, much less awaken/bring back that power with the means they have. It's much more productive on focusing on the betterment of Fodlan and protect the ones who are still alive. But he understands her feelings of wanting her mother back and doesn't comment too much on this.
I've also got a whole another au where Pan is a sulking little dragon on top of Conand tower, getting pestered by multiple generations of teenaged nobles.
- Lizard pan anon
Hi Lizard pan anon!
What do you mean humans doing human things lol
Maybe he was part of the "older ones" who taught about the world "outside" and "humans" to younger Nabateans or people who only lived in Zanado?
No, he doesn't dual-wield (often). He uses the less fancy, non-healing sword for skirmishes and stuff, and uses the cool nabatean one for bigger conflicts.
Oh, it'd make sense in a way. Granted, idk if you took into account weapon durability in your hcs (i never do lol) but sure, it'd make sense to take out the big guns only when needed, and not, say, use a lvl 100 Palkia to defeat a lvl 2 Bidoof.
:(
Would she try to recruit him, as Flamey? Maybe pull something like the enemies of my enemies are my allies (unless they're stinky lizards, they can be my allies for 2 seconds before I backstab them)? When she finds out about him being a lizard though... I guess it'd play in her paranoia of "they're everywhere and controlling Fodlan, living among us, humans!!!"
Daww
I hcd Seteth being disappointed, hurt, but more angry at Rhea, not for trying to resurrect her, but because she never told him a thing, and how desperate she was (she doesn't trust him anymore? why) and feels bad for not having seen signs earlier, whereas Flayn just, hugs her - it doesn't matter if she's not the super uberwoman she thought she was, nor if she actually cannot look and guide Fodlan on her own - she's still her super cool aunt and it's her time to look after her now.
Macuil is the one who goes "idiot I knew you were useless and worthless" but leaves a Zanado fruit - on her table - just because his pockets are full! - while Indech is the one who doesn't say a thing, but looks at her with the "disapproving older brother glare" but wouldn't say a thing.
Oh!
Nabateans trying to figure out what the frick is Billy is always funny lol, and Pan is right in all three hypothesis!
Poor Pan though, but I wonder how he would have reacted to Jerry if Jerry told him his kid wasn't "normal", would he become protective of Billy who's, regardless of everything, part of his fam, or would her berate Rhea on not having told that human a thing about this Billy child?
His opinion on Sothis resurrection is that it's impossible. Like, She's their progenitor, capable of creating countless nabateans without breaking a sweat. It is impossible for them to even comprehend the kind of power she holds, much less awaken/bring back that power with the means they have. It's much more productive on focusing on the betterment of Fodlan and protect the ones who are still alive. But he understands her feelings of wanting her mother back and doesn't comment too much on this.
Ooh
Did he disagree with her about the "revised" Fodlan History, painting Nemesis'n'his Elites as fallen Heroes or how she hid the secret behind relics and the existence of Nabateans?
I've also got a whole another au where Pan is a sulking little dragon on top of Conand tower, getting pestered by multiple generations of teenaged nobles.
"Hey Matthias, I bet you 2 beers I can take a scale from that weird wyvern on top of the tower."
"Lambert, don't be stupid. That's obviously not a wyvern."
"Why not ask the wyvern if it can give us a scale?."
"Rodrigue, wyverns don't understand human language."
"It has been glaring at us since Lambert mentionned taking one its scales."

3, 22, and 35 for the FE3H ask list!
3. Favourite Black Eagles student, and why?
The toughest question first 😭 it's so hard because I love them all!! But I do really have to say Edelgard. Her personal story of rediscovering herself after trauma, with the help of her friends, is so heartwarming, and her genuine dedication to improving the lives of ordinary people in Fodlan is so inspiring--so many people after suffering what she suffered would think about revenge, and of course that's understandable, but what is so impressive about Edelgard is that it becomes a transformative moment for her because she sees how this system of suffering and abuse transcends her own personal life and she sees the systemic roots of this obsession with Crests and how it affects everyone. This is such a radical outlook in this kind of setting but so moving when it is so genuinely felt. And the genius of tying this into her own personal experience of trauma as well, that part of the reason she sees this systemically is because she dehumanises herself and distances herself from the girl, "El", who 'died' under torture, means you get the beautiful, beautiful thematic resonance of Edelgard recovering her "humanity", her own personhood as El, at the same time as tearing down these structural barriers on "humanity" as a whole in Fodlan.
On top of all this, she is just so much fun as a person. She's a dramatic dork who has a weird sense of humour and gets disappointed when people don't laugh at her jokes, who wants everyone to be as excited about the Black Eagle Strike Force name as her, who does hilarious impressions of her friends. I could imagine myself being friends with her and talking theory in one moment before sobbing over a picture of some tiny kittens the next. I love her your honour.
22. Unpopular or rare ship/support you really like, and why?
Well, the obvious one here is Edelclaude, lol. For the Three Houses fandom this definitely counts as a rare ship. Firstly, I think on a practical level, these two have goals which are very compatible in a way that Edelgard's goals aren't really compatible with Rhea or Dimitri (without massive character development so that they're very different to in the game, of course in AUs all bets are off), something which is hinted at in the game itself and which the two characters note about each other. Edelgard is focused on Fodlan, but she wants to change it, including by taking down the Church as a political institution, which per Claude is where Fodlan's prejudice against outsiders comes from. Similarly, Claude's focus is on peoples of different cultures coming together and sharing with one another because of his personal experience as a mixed race person, but he also talks about inequality between nobles and commoners at times. Their ideals could very easily work together and enhance each other if either was in a different place and could start that cooperation in the game.
Which brings me to the second part of why I like this ship, and for me the more important one. I think Claude and Edelgard have really compatible personal arcs as well. For both of them, they begin the game distrustful, having suffered trauma which makes them question their own personal worth, both believing that their friends and classmates would not like them if they knew the truth about who they were. Both find self-belief from Byelth's uncomplicated acceptance of them, in Edelgard's case she begins to believe in her own self-worth and rediscover her identity as "El", whilst Claude becomes more open and honest. I think it is a huge thing that both Claude and Edelgard spend the timeskip being certain that Byleth will return. Edelgard sends people out searching; meanwhile, in VW, Claude is waiting for Byleth at Garreg Mach around the time everyone promised to meet and shows no surprise at seeing them there. Over the course of the war, in CF Edelgard continues to show more parts of herself to Byleth, culminating in the A support where she asks Byleth to consider themself one of her family by calling her "El". Claude also continues to reveal more of his plans and identity, the pain he experienced as a child for being mixed race.
Both Edelgard and Claude, subconsciously or not, are looking for someone to trust and believe in. They're both desperately afraid of rejection whilst craving companionship. They both intend to build a better world for others, this desire being born out of terrible pain and trauma they both experienced, and a selfless desire not to see anyone else hurt by the same thing. I don't mean to collapse the differences between them, either--imo Claude's background leads him to believe that his fundamental nature is repulsive to others, whilst Edelgard mainly fears that it is her actions which will drive others away (complicated by her dehumanisation of herself/viewing herself as a tool for her cause).
In my opinion, it's actually Claude who has greater trust issues of the two. Edelgard spends White Clouds making very overt gestures to Byleth as well as to some other Black Eagles (Dorothea, Caspar), whereas Claude is much more secretive and for the most part only obliquely refers to his own ambitions (a big exception is not with Byleth, but with his support with Marianne, which is one of the key occasions where you see Claude's desire to connect with others). He doesn't even dare to open up more to characters like Petra, who might understand his position as an outsider and has no love of Fodlan's xenophobia, either. But these differences as well as their similarities is what could make their relationship so compelling. Edelgard is more optimistic, whilst also in a sense being more practical, not being concerned with things that don't affect her immediate goal such as the ultimate truth of the War of Heroes. Meanwhile, Claude is (imo) more cynical and sceptical, but also more curious and, in a sense, concerned with high-minded ideals, and broader narratives - I don't think it's coincidence that his first idea in Fodlan was to get ahold of the Sword of the Creator, a weapon with massive mythological destructive abilities, yes, but also a heroic symbol which could rival the Church's power as derived from Seiros.
I think Edelgard would push Claude to see others in a better light, whilst Claude would provide an intellectual challenge that Edelgard craves, poking holes in her plans and showing how reform measures could be taken advantage of--so that they can both improve the final product and create a better world together. I think they could both provide the other that acceptance and companionship that they crave. I think they both understand the darkness in humankind, and would accept and understand each other's darker aspects as well, whilst urging each other not to give into them.
Also, by far the most compelling argument, they both deserve to be happy.
35. What are some of your most unpopular opinions about the game/characters/story?
Hmm honestly I'm not completely sure of this one because I've mainly found my little corner of fandom with similar-minded people and stayed out of the rest, lol. But my most unpopular opinion is probably that I don't care for Dimitri very much and I don't really see him as a progressive character. I think he has an innate compassion for others which could certainly LEAD to him becoming more progressive in an AU context, however I don't think he was given the background to develop that in Faerghus and he doesn't develop it in canon. He sees feudalism in an idealistic light which means he ultimately keeps commoners in a subordinate position - not without sympathy, not because he really believes that they're worth less than nobles but just because That's The Way The World Is and, fundamentally imo, he doesn't have the vision to see something beyond the way the world currently works. Hence, he's a more traditionalist character who wants to make minor reforms to the current system, to prevent its worst abuses, but he can't articulate a future without the system in which people can be more equal. For example, his views on Crests are that they're needed for defence and "these views stand the test of time for a reason". This isn't a person who really understands structural issues like classism, racism, sexism, etc. Imo that's part of the real tragedy of his route, because Dimitri himself would be so much happier if he were able to do something like, just be a mercenary who defends people from bandits, or even something totally non-violent like, idk, working in a soup kitchen or nursing the sick. Instead he's steeped so much in these Traditions of kingship, feudalism, the Crest hierarchy, the Church's hegemony, etc, that he feels he *has* to be king and he has to maintain these structures, even whilst they actually bring all the people around him in the Blue Lions house (and himself) suffering.
I don't want to go more into this because in general I prefer to talk more about aspects of the game I enjoy, and I also realise this is already a SUPER LONG post lmao, so I will stop there. But thank you for these questions, I had a really fun time answering them!
#ask#answer#edelgard#black eagles#crimson flower#edelclaude#edelclaude analysis#dimitri critical#i love this game so much and there is always SO MUCH depth you can talk about so thank you for sharing a little bit of that with these asks

Twin crest AU with Dimitri !! (+ Non Experamented Edelgard...though her siblings are dead lol) ..gonna call this "Twin Crest Au"or "White Lion AU"
Notes
- I greatly dislike the simple switching of personality between dimitri and edelgard whenever he is given a crest so I decided to write my own AU. I also do not think that a twin crest Dimitri would be an Edelgard clone in his actions and motivations.(Noting this will NOT be an Edelgard-Critical post because dont want any drama). Sure, there might be some similarities however their personalities, motivation, and source of information are vastly different. (ie there is no passed on knowledge from former emperors here so Dimitri is unaware of the nabateans- just that the agartans are a faction that deeply resent the church and humanity.)
- Additionally I hate the portrayal that a twin crested Dimitri is simply pre-gronder timeskip Dimitri. As mentioned by Dedue, the way that Dimitri behaves throughout Azure moon is Dimitri- because he was driven by his own compassion and duty to the dead but it should also be remembered that he acted out of desperation especially since he did not have any other cause to fight for- which is not the case in Crimson Flower and three hopes where he also dedicates his life for the kingdom and his desperate need to help others not suffer the same way he does though he still kept a vengeful side kept to himself.
- Divided into Sections : Dimitri, Claude,DMCL, Edelgard ,Byleth (Barely)
- Step siblings Dima + Edel cause I do what I want + Protective lions + Dimiclaude. Darker and more manipulative Claude later on, probably- Maybe a bad end? (at least maybe based on actions, idk yt)
In the aftermath of the tragedy of Duscur, the Agartans decided to strengthen their hold on the kingdom simultaneously with the alliance and empire. During this au, Thales still uses the form of Arundel to be the regent of the empire; however Cornelia is given a new task which was to imitate the form of Rufus therefore efficiently tightening the hold of the Agarthans within Fodlan.
The insurrection of the Seven stills happens- however Edelgard is the only royal who did not undergo crest experimentation- with Thales (disguised as Arundel) taking a more manipulative approach with his “niece” where he implied that the other noble houses conspired together and killed the rest of her siblings during the event; additionally Emperor Ionius’s health begins to dwindle away due to the stress inflicted upon him from losing his power, family (and suspected poisoning from Thales).
Additionally due to this, Edelgard and Dimitri are closer since they were able to bond more as childhood friends- this is especially significant in white clouds where it would be Edelgard who recognizes Dimitri.
This is mostly because Thales decided to insert himself into Cleobulus’ plans for the tragedy of Duscur therefore delaying his arrival to the empire while the other Agartans implemented the crest experimentations which resulted in the death of the most of the royal children- therefore they decided to play it safe with Edelgard and turned their attention to the kingdom. (Maybe they could even start their crest experiments on the western front- twin crest hapi or yuri or maybe even Mercedes perhaps ? >:) )
The tragedy of Duscur stayed relatively the same -with the young prince shielding another young boy when the kingdom decided to take their revenge. Due to this event, the young prince was confined to the castle for a long time- with the public and his friends unaware of his status until the academy. Dedue stayed with the young prince during this time - witnessing the horrific experiments that he was unable to stop or even understand. Was the kingdom of Faerghus truly this deplorable, tp do this to their own prince ?...In a way, he feels like he shouldn't be surprised with how they butchered his people
Rufus would stay alive for a couple of years before being replaced by Cleobulus- however during that time, Dimitri would be experimented on and then given the crest of flames. When Cleobulus eventually took over as Rufus, Dimitri mourns the loss of another family member however finds himself unable to truly care for Rufus as a person- as he is aware of his uncle’s part in the tragedy of Duscur and did not care for Dimitri even after finding out about the experiments. In fact, Rufus had hoped that perhaps it would be better and kinder for Dimitri to die in these experiments- he would also not be reminded of his own actions.
The difference between this Dimitri and Edelgard is that Dimitri truly does not want the unification of Fodlan (like how previous emperord did)- rather he simply wants to declare the truth of what happened in Duscur and have these Agartans face judgment (execution). Additionally, unlike the secret passed on from emperor to emperor, Dimitri does not have a reason to trust what the Agartans are stating about the church - however he remains wary of them especially since they (the church) have done nothing to help the kingdom during the regent’s reign.
Truthfully, he does not have faith in the goddess because he is unable to reach for his own salvation- nor be able to desire death since he still has the duty to reveal the truth of the kingdom-no, about Fodlan- additionally the goddess was unable to save him and the victims of the tragedy.
Felix, Sylvain and Ingrid are simply not permitted to visit the prince. None have even seen him until the academy. They feel deep regret that they have failed their friend. They also have lingering resentment to the regent and even to their own families at times. Once they entered the academy, they tried to reconnect with the prince..yet they found themselves unable to bridge the gap from the years that came to pass. In a way, they simply want to spend their time with him…reaching out to the friend that they unintentionally abandoned all those years ago.
Two members of the blue lions also joined that year named Emile Von Martritz and Glenn Fraldarius. Glenn is said to be highly vigilant and follows Dimitri often- he was unlike what his fiancee and brother remembered him to be- he tended to be dismissive of the two and frankly anyone other than Dimitri. Myson would be taking the role of Glenn, I'm still deciding if Kronya would be taking the role of Monica.
Two possibilities with Dedue
- Dedue remains in the capital- as a leverage of sorts, until Byleth comes into the picture which earns the attention of both Cleobulus and Thales therefore they individually asked Edelgard and Dimitri to spy/pursue the professor so Dimitri would request for Dedue to also enroll.
- Dedue is enrolled at the officers academy at the same time, staying close to Dimitri as well though it's apparent that he does not enjoy the company of Glenn. (Because I want Dedue to have more friends)
CLAUDE SECTION
Claude Von Riegan is someone that made waves throughout all of Fodlan when he was revealed to be the grandson of Duke Reigan. Due to this, he becomes someone that greatly interests Dimitri- The same could also be said of Claude, who develops an interest to befriend the other future rulers of Fodlan. He does find both house leaders to be equally interesting (due to El being more willing to interact with others including those outside her house while Dimitri has an air of mystery and discontent )- Give me house leaders content and friendship ! ‘
Claude will initially be wary of the two house leaders and honestly his house at first; however, I can see him warming up in time. It would especially be a surprise for him to know that two of the house leaders would be step siblings ( they tell him later on-or maybe he can find out accidentally).
DMCL SECTION
In terms of relationship, Dimitri would still suffer from night terrors so he would often hide away in the cathedral or the library where the two would hit it off- Claude knows that Dimitri is hiding something and investigating something big- maybe later on he could help him especially if the two would share their dreams to one another (dmcl cliche but like Dimitri has someone spying on him during the day so…)
EDELGARD SECTION
Meanwhile Edelgard is still someone that deeply skeptical of the church - although she doesn’t have a deeply seeded hatred of the church. She believes them (especially Rhea) to be a hindrance to achieving true peace for Fodlan- In her own words, she does think the unification of Fodlan would be a good thing especially since that was what former emperors aimed to achieve; however she is more open to a more peaceful and diplomatic approach to this unification especially due to her time in the kingdom. (And longer life span but she doesn't know that)
Currently Edelgard is considering a war on the church- this is a plan that her uncle approached her after they returned to the empire. However, she is still contemplative over this approach since it would be at the cost of her people’s life. Though it is implied that she has already spoken to some noble houses about the possibility. El does not completely trust her uncle- at first, she did trust him- however Hubert was the one who helped her see through her uncle’s facade and lies- specifically Hubert was the one who clarified that the other noble houses mostly left her siblings alone; focusing mostly on wrestling power from her father.
During her time in the officer’s academy, she would generally be more open to her house- especially since she has no plans on declaring war (at least yet). So I could see her genuinely enjoying the company of her class and gaining insights from commoners such as Dorothea over the dissatisfaction of her citizens. She would also be the one to recognize and reunite with Dimitri. Unlike Dimitri, she would have no problem in reconnecting with an old friend- so it was a mixture of surprise for him that the two knew each other- I can see them having a support on why Dimitri’s hair turned white, Dima not answering and the two leaving it on that till the next level of support.
BYLETH SECTION
Byleth would play a decisive role once again. So gonna based the given options based on the respective routes probably, Idk yet. Theyre still gonna be their teacher so...maybe 3-4 routes.

idk if you accept asks about writing in general. if you dont, feel free to ignore this! but if you do:
how do you come up with AU names? some of your AUs have absolute banger names (Affectionately Yours and Kintsugi for example) and i was wondering about the process behind coming up with those names. sometimes i come up with an au that doesnt really fit into any pre-existing category (eg modern au, roleswap, etc) and my google doc ends up being called something really stupid that only fuels my writer’s block
i realize this is also an ask on titles lmao
basically, how do i name the things i make
Heck yeah I love fielding asks about general writing it's my passion and I deeply enjoy talking about it
I definitely feel you, though: not many of my AUs really adhere to common fandom categories. Because of that, I usually have to figure out different ways to refer to and ultimately title them. The short answer is that I usually start with a more general handle that sums up either the general narrative feel (Bad End AU), the inspiration for the AU (Assassin's Creed: Awakening), or an overarching theme for the story (Life Goes On); eventually, though, once I have most of the writing done or at least a better handle on the overall story, I'll pick a final title which becomes the AU name forevermore (Cursed Fate).
The long answer is under the cut:
There are actually a lot of different factors that go into naming my AUs! A lot of my AUs start their lives as a narrative concept that I'll try to sum up succinctly for the sake of addressing it quickly: Pre-Timeskip Fix-It because it's a fix-it fic where the changes in the academy phase throw the narrative off the canon rails before the war phase can begin; Spite Project because I was pissed about the panning of platonic relationships in fandom events and wrote a 37.5k word summary. But at some point -- some earlier, some later -- I'll get to a point where a title presents itself, and that gets associated with the AU for the rest of time.
Kintsugi is a case where the name came to me more or less with the general plot summary. It's actually a term for a Japanese art form translating to "golden repair," where a broken piece of pottery is repaired using lacquer mixed with gold dust, treating both the break and the repair as a notable part of the object's history rather than the end of its life or something to be concealed. For a fix-it fic based in a Golden Deer route that seeks to fix the damage to Fodlan, acknowledging and addressing the various characters' flaws and issues rather than trying to sweep them under the rug or allowing them to lead to peoples' deaths...it just seemed thematically appropriate, enough so that whenever it does get written I'm definitely keeping that title.
Affectionately Yours, by contrast, was titled quite late, only shortly before posting. It started its life as "Chrobin Celebration 2020 fic," but as I reached the late chapters I realized that I wanted to add in an epistolary element, because characters writing letters to each other is a blast (and I love playing with fancy fonts). Once I made that decision, giving it a romantic title alluding to a letter's closing line seemed like a perfect choice -- plus it let me do a title drop in the last chapter, which was icing on my cake.
There are some fun tricks you can use to get yourself started with some AU names, though! Here's a few that I use:
Do you have a song that you associate with an AU? Use that for a title (Sigh No More, from a Mumford and Sons song)
Alternatively, pick a lyric you particularly like, or that you think fits the overall feel of the story (Nosferatank did this with Send the Scourge, Send the Swarm, taken from Prince of Egypt's The Plagues)
Is there a particular saying or phrase that captures the feel of your AU? You could use that, too (Smoke and Mirrors takes its name from an idiom related to disguising or distracting attention from the truth)
You can also pick terms or phrases related to major plot points (Prisoner of War gets its title from the fact that Chrom's captured by Plegians very early in the story and spends most of the narrative in their camp)
Is there a particular word that carries a lot of weight or influence in your story? That's a great choice for a name (Manwearer comes from a play on the taguel 'Rabbitwearer' epithet, and is how they address the human they've adopted as one of their own)
Similarly, if you're building toward a particular scene and have some dialogue planned, you can use a key bit of that description or dialogue (As You Are will ultimately build toward Robin accepting that his injury isn't the end of the world, and people will not only accept him but love him just as he is, rather than in spite of it)
Got a crossover of some kind in the works? Find a fun way to merge the two titles (Cardcaptor Lissa is an Awakening AU that draws narrative influence from Cardcaptor Sakura)
And if all else fails, you can give it a stand-in title based on the work that lends its influence (Promare AU is an Awakening AU drawing narrative cues from Promare)
I'm pretty sure there are others but that seems like at least a decent start of a list -- I really hope this helps! And if you have any other questions or are looking for any more advice/tips, hit me up, I love talking about writing stuff!
#answered#anonymous#fire emblem#fanfiction#writing advice#titles are hard#but i can usually figure out something good for reference#and i do in fact love some of my titles#affectionately yours is still one of my favorites#good luck with your titling adventures though!!#i hope this can help give you some inspiration#and combat some of that writer's block

@garlandgerard said: on the lorenz-dimitri thing, my girlfriend and i have an all-recruits post-AM AU where they do end up working together with lorenz as the head of house gloucester. theirs and claude's combined efforts also better the relationship between fódlan and almyra there
That’s basically my headcanon! I’ve also always liked the idea that since Lorenz has to work for the Empire out of concern for his land and people that the Kingdom army convinces him to join to get him out of there. Technically since Erwin is still the Count, they could play it off as Lorenz is fighting for the Kingdom now because of being forced to work for the Empire but Erwin isn’t on their side. For Erwin’s part all he has to do is stay neutral and not assist the Kingdom, and that way the Empire won’t be incited to attack Gloucester even if Lorenz is in the Kingdom army.
Also, I like how it’s only when you reach that chapter that Dimitri starts to waver in killing people he knows. It’s not until he’s faced with fighting Lorenz (and Ferdinand if you didn’t recruit him) that he starts being unable to really answer how he feels and why. I feel like even though he’s not really in his right mind, there’s still a rational part of him that knows Lorenz and Ferdinand aren’t bad people and have similar values to him. If you recruit Lorenz pre-timeskip he’s forced to leave you regardless so your army always has to fight him, and that’s the chapter where they start mentioning familiar faces in battle iirc.
I love the idea that the Kingdom army got him out of there and I also have this headcanon that he was offered the decision to stop fighting entirely and just go home (so that he wouldn’t risk an invasion from the Empire) but he chooses to fight because he’s not happy that he was forced into this war knowing if he didn’t fight for the Empire that he was risking danger to the people he protects in Gloucester. That would be when he plans to speak to his father and they make the plan for Erwin not to take up arms for either side while Lorenz is fighting for the Kingdom.
During that time I think Dimitri would see a lot of the good that Lorenz does, and we know from exploration that Dimitri does speak to people personally, such as Caspar saying he went to him and personally apologized about the Randolph situation. Caspar says he’d totally forgotten about it but he seemed happy all the same that Dimitri was getting better. I think Dimitri would have spoken to Lorenz a few times and maybe even gotten counsel from him.
When Claude goes back to Almyra, my headcanon is that Dimitri asks Lorenz to be in charge of the former Alliance territories and works closely with him to improve the lives of commoners. They’d also have Ferdinand helping and he’d be in charge of Adrestia. The former nobles from before any Crest system reforms could choose if they wanted to step down from their positions, but only after they found a suitable successor. Whoever the nobles were in each territory would work with either Dimitri, Lorenz or Ferdinand depending on where they lived to help improve Fodlan.
#garlandgerard#i have a lot of feelings about my golden ruler trio#plus in vw claude says he's basically considering asking lorenz to take over the alliance anyway#he doesn't tell him that he'll be going to almyra after the war but in their A support#he's basically saying he might vanish and all that? but the idea at the time before byleth was decided as the new archbishop#he was considering having lorenz take over anyway and i think it'd be something that claude and dimitri could#rly agree upon. plus since dimitri would've been the king of all of fodlan i mean#i have headcanons that it'd be a LOT for him to handle so suddenly on top of being in the middle of recovering from#not just the war but trying to get his physical health back in order after those five years and then the whole war#he can't take care of an entire country if he isn't healthy enough to do so and i think ferdinand and lorenz would be REALLY helpful#to keeping things governed in their former regions while dimitri was given time to recover a bit#once he was ready to properly start working again i think he'd keep them in charge of those regions#and even tho he was /technically/ the king of the whole of fodlan it wouldn't rly feel like it#bc he'd still have those two keeping up with everything in those two areas#Yeah I May An Entirely Fleshed Out Post AM Headcanoned Fodlan#DCB Reply

For anyone concerned about the Main Verse being a sort of Golden Ending AU where everyone lives (except Byleth), allow me to clarify a few things - primarily concerning the fact that Obsidian Song is definitively not a Golden Ending that makes the other verses/routes pointless, like what Revelations did in Fates.
First and foremost - Byleth’s death. Sure, comparatively, only having the protagonist die and everyone else survive sounds as close to a Golden Ending as we can get on paper, but keep in mind that, for this verse to even exist, Byleth had to specifically go out of her way to bond with every student among all three houses pre-timeskip. Post-timeskip, even considering her reveal as the Lord of Ash at the end, she legitimately does her best to help everyone in all three nations, as well as the Church of Seiros and Rhea. She goes above and beyond what Byleth canonically does to try and ensure that everyone is happy and healthy, convinced she’s on the path to a Golden Ending... and then she lets herself be killed, not realizing that this will deeply sadden everyone who cared about her (and if she has a lover, will leave them heartbroken) at best, and leave the Lords she helped reconcile and potentially recover to a degree horrified at the fact that, y’know, they personally just killed the woman who did everything in her power to unify them and bring peace to Fodlan.
Secondly, there’s the fact that Byleth doesn’t plan for what might happen afterwards. Sure, she dismantles TWSITD, gets the Church to relinquish their iron grip on Fodlan peacefully, and persuaded the leaders of the nations to settle matters peacefully, but the fact of the matter is that she didn’t give them any hints on how to restructure after the fact. Especially when you consider that the changes that Byleth’s efforts instilled will likely only last during her students’ lifetimes, as there’s no guarantees that their successors (especially in the new Empire, now that it’s likely a meritocracy) will work towards the propagation of their predecessors’ goals.
Lastly, there’s the matter of Byleth’s own army - these people are hundreds of miles overseas and were soundly defeated in battle. Byleth was a hero to most, if not all of them, and even if the leaders spare them and allow them to return home, there’s no guarantee that a future conflict with Fodlan won’t be brewing on the horizon. And this time, it could potentially be worse, with greater levels of firepower, lead by someone (or a group of someones) who don’t ultimately intend to lose the war and will fight with everything they have and more sophisticated tactics than “steamroll the western coast to threaten the nations into uniting, then turtle up”.
Basically, Byleth’s unification plan has a lot of holes in it, and may ultimately lead to even more problems down the line. Some might be mitigated in an AU where she lives, but even in that case, Byleth herself remains a broken shell of the woman she was, doesn’t magically recover from her own identity issues and psychological damage (though the former could potentially be fixed, but that requires a whole lot of stuff and extra headcanons that I’m far too tired to brainstorm right now), and ultimately ends up too crippled to ever take to the battlefield again after the damage she sustains in the final battle.
#checking the unit info || headcanons#obsidian song || main verse#obsidian song is basically ''you want a golden ending? here's the 'reality ensues' version of what would happen if you tried to get one''#nobody's actually said anything about this but sometimes the headcase demons just poke and prod at me to clarify things#even if they may not necessarily need clarifying

Charge of the Alliance
*Azure Moon AU*
*Dimitri has denied both the strategically wise decision of taking back the Kingdom’s Capitol and requesting aid from the Alliance. A frustrated Byleth has decided to take matters into their own hands*
-
*Byleth, Ingrid, Felix, and Sylvain are walking to the Garreg Mach stables together as the Faerghus army prepares to march to Gronder Field*
Byleth: There is no way out of that valley except through Edelgard’s forces. Dimitri is walking into a trap.
*They stop before Byleth’s horse*
Byleth: Dimitri... he needs guidance. I fear for him. I fear for the survival of Fodlan. *Byleth turns to the others* He will need you three before the end. The people of Faerghus will need you. The army must endure.
Sylvain: *swallows nervously but nods* They will endure.
Byleth, stroking their horse’s mane: The Ashen Pilgrim, that’s what they used to call me. Through Sothis I lived a hundred lives of men but now... I have no time. *They mount up* With luck, this will not be in vain.
*The three bow to Byleth*
Byleth: With luck, this will not be in vain. Look to my coming, at midday’s light on the day of the battle. Look to the West.
*Byleth rides off to the Alliance. To friends. To Aid*
-
~ Timeskip to the Battle of Gronder Field ~
-
*The battle is going poorly. It is only thanks to the rallying of Felix, Sylvain, and Ingrid that the army has not yet fallen, but they are losing ground to the Empire.*
*A light, midday’s light, splits through the fog of war. Remembering Byleth’s words, Ingrid looks to the West. Sure enough, alone on a hill is Byleth, mounted on their horse*
Ingrid, new hope shinning through: Byleth...
*The Empire takes notice of Byleth as well*
Byleth: King Dimitri stands alone.
*A White Wyvern lands beside him. A familiar schemer is on its back*
Claude: Not alone.
*Claude raises his bow, catching the shining sun*
Claude: ALLIANCE!
*The Alliance Army appears behind them, led by the Golden Deer, fresh and eager for battle, and to finally strike back against the Empire.*
Dimitri, looking up at the army, clarity breaking through his madness for the first time in what feels like years: Claude!
Claude: TO THE KING!
Golden Deer: TO THE KING!
*The Alliance rides down to meet the Empire. The Imperial Soldiers raise their pikes to break the charge, but the Sun’s Light shines through the Sword of the Creator, blinding them.*
*The Alliance cuts through their Line like a hot knife through butter*

Rant, potentially me just bein’ stupid, under the cut
There are so so so many reason why CF just feels like (as someone who writes fanfiction) poorly thought out fanfiction and one of the ones that gets to me the most is CF!Claude.
So in three out of four routes, the Empire has the Great Bridge of Myrddin under their control, which is the main reason Gloucester and Ordelia are pro-Empire due to them being under the most immediate threat of Imperial attack should they not swear fealty. This makes Claude unable to make any blatant moves against the Empire due to two of the houses under his watch being both against him and under threat, and so he uses House Riegan’s power to force the Alliance into neutrality. He can’t ask the Kingdom for help due to 1) it being under chaos due to Dimitri being presumed dead and Cornelia essentially taking charge and 2) again, this being a blatant move against the Empire even if he could ask the Kingdom
Okay, makes perfect sense, these all leads into each other just fine.
In CF, the Great Bridge is under Alliance control
what.
Gloucester is still unwilling to help fight against the Empire, as shown partly by Lorenz making no appearance as an enemy unit in CF if he was unrecruited, despite having its main reason for doing that be basically obsolete.
what.
Despite being able to take the bridge under his control and despite Dimitri being king and therefore having the Kingdom under much more stability than the other routes, Claude at no point makes any sort of alliance with the Kingdom despite the now available means and the common enemy throughout the five year timeskip. Likewise Dimitri makes no effort to team up with Claude and in fact does not react to news of his death whatsoever, making it the lord matchup where that happens (Claude reacts to Dimitri and Edelgard’s deaths, Edelgard reacts to Dimitri and Claude’s, but Dimitri only react to Edelgard’s)
what.
What kind of sense does this make? Maybe you can argue that Edelgard has less means to take over the Great Bridge due to the war against the Kingdom being more even in CF, but that doesn’t explain why Claude doesn’t take this chance to team up with the Kingdom and Church - even though he knows doing so will definitely sway Gloucester into being anti-Empire due to the Church’s influence. Maybe you can argue Claude didn’t want to team up with Rhea, but that’s assuming that Claude would rather Edelgard potentially win the war Claude didn’t plan for and which he himself says ruins his dreams over Rhea getting back in the position Claude would have had to have planned for somewhat beforehand - and on top of that, teaming up with Rhea would have almost certainly given him some major headway into negotiating shit over about Almyra.
Edelgard is canonically weaker in CF. Her attention is not fully on the war at hand, she is barely holding a stalemate with the Kingdom and can’t even take hold of Myrddin, her forces are now known to be full on starving (as in, Ashe explicitly states this in an explore dialogue), so if Claude did literally anything to team up with Dimitri and Rhea at any point in CF - you know, that thing he at least tries to do in all the other routes (in VW/SS succeeding only with the Church, in AM full on supporting both) - Edelgard would have been fucked. But see, now Claude doesn’t trust the Church and Kingdom enough to team up with them according to the fandom - in this route only though. He’ll help Dimitri and be instrumental in finding Rhea in all the other routes! Just not here. Because he doesn’t trust them. Now. The game makes no effort to say this in the route this happens in, but trust me, it’s totally there. Claude saying that he wonders what a world without Rhea would be like in the route where he has someone he can rely on to lead Fodlan in her place completely and totally justifies him not doing anything to help the now only people he could ever rely on to lead Fodlan from having that power fall into the hands of people he deadass doesn’t trust to wield that power at all, I promise
Look, when 3H wants you to know something they’ll just tell you, especially for something as game-changing as this. Claude not teaming up with the Kingdom during the course of the war is what let Edelgard win - period. No cap. End sentence. Send tweet. Edelgard could not have been able to fight a two sided battle with her attention diverted on Byleth on top of fighting the literal rest of Fodlan. CF, as it presented itself, only can exist if Claude doesn’t do something he does in every. single. other. route.
And that what makes it so low-tier fanfiction-y, because it doesn’t even try to explain, in a self-contained way for CF, why he doesn’t do this. It’s like if the author went “I don’t think Claude would do that so he’s not going to!” in their author’s note but makes no attempt to give a reason why they think that or try to write their fic’s plot in a way that explains how that can make sense.
Claude going on the defensive and staying makes inherit sense in the other routes; he can’t rely on the shambling Kingdom and the scattered Church to help him take on the Empire at the start of the war, so he takes his side who is too divided to properly help itself, out of it. But in a situation where the Kingdom and the Church are around and strong while Dimitri and Rhea are still around to provide their strength? It’s almost a no brainer to team up with them to stomp down this threat before it gets anymore powerful than it is. Obviously, with Rhea being there and Dimitri not going through any of the shit he does in the other routes, and with them holding up in any way against Edelgard’s prepared forces, it would make sense for Claude to have joined the Kingdom and Church at any point after Edelgard started to lose out in strength. But oops! This is the author’s first story so they don’t quite know how to set up the scenario they want, so they just handwave it away with “Claude doesn’t like the Church” without even so much as having Claude say that himself.
Like I said, this is someone’s AU. It accidentally got submitted instead of the actual script for CF, and IntSys is just too forgiving to new authors and doesn’t know how to give proper criticism without coming off as flaming the newbie and they let it slide. Also explains all of Edelgard’s cringey one-liners and all the character inconsistencies with the BE students
But hey, maybe I’m just full of shit lmao. Have your interpretations if you want, I just don’t buy CF!Claude’s reasoning for staying out the war during the timeskip personally
#but then a lot of things in CF don't make any sense so it wouldn't surprise me if this was one of those things#chances are i'm just bein' lowkey stoopid tho#sorry to rag on fanfiction because I love it but if the shoe fits

I have an AU where Edelgard managed to convince Claude & Dimitri to be on her side before the timeskip and they are all working together for a better Fodlan. Edelgard and Dimitri constantly bicker, either over stupid shit or the next best corse of action (no in between). Claude always has to be like “Hey, let’s be adults about this, now hug it out.” and it’s honestly my favorite part about the AU.

Note
Just out of curiosity, with your Profressor Robin AU, at what timepoint in the Awakening storyline is it taking place? Like, postgame Awakening? Or during the two-year timeskip? Orrrrr... are you just kinda winging it? :P
Good question! I should probably clarify haha
So this would take place for awakening just in the beginning of the timeskip they have (you know when Chrom gets married) like around that time where Ylisse is kind of at a peaceful lull for a bit. And for Fodlan I'd say sometime in the.. middle of their school year? Before Byleth changes his hair n stuff so yeah, should have clarified heh
