Anas Shaban is an electrical engineer and journalist from the Gaza Strip, holding a Master's degree in Business Administration.

Anas Shaban is a community activist and Palestinian writer with dozens of blogs and literary poems.

Anas lost half of his family as martyrs, including his father, sister, uncle, his sister's husband and their children, as well as his grandmother.

He and his family have been displaced 10 times in southern area of Gaza Strip.

They have survived multiple recent massacres in Deir AlBalah.

They live in a tent that feels like a "convection oven".

He can hear tank fire across the street.

I've lost the love of my life, and my fingers refuse to write the word “death” in connection with him. I am still in denial, grappling with the harsh truth that he is gone. My life has become an empty void, devoid of any motivation to take a single step forward. I find no desire to cry, to eat, or even to exist. Each day is a relentless cycle, repeating itself, as I wait for the moment of my death. I often find myself lost in thoughts of how it might happen: will I die whole, or will my body be scattered, pieces of me consumed by stray dogs and cats?

CRITICAL EMERGENCY!!! 15 y/o girl needs heart surgery!!!!

Earlier this month, we made a post asking for your support in attaining 15 year-old Nour’s monthly treatment for her congenital heart condition. Unfortunately, the funds raised came too late. Nour’s health took a dramatic downturn yesterday, and the doctor said that because she had gone so long between monthly treatments, several of Nour’s heart valves have closed up. She now requires an urgent operation to save her heart.

NOUR WILL DIE WITHOUT THIS SURGERY!! She is dying right now because her heart is struggling to function! She needs this surgery IMMEDIATELY to save her young life!!

The doctor said the surgery will cost $8000 USD. Nour’s family’s GFM is in Canadian dollars, or CAD, of which the conversion rate to USD is $1 USD=$1.41 CAD. This means we need $11,300 CAD in donations in order to pay the equivalent of $8000 USD for her surgery.

We NEED to raise the funds ASAP so Nour has a chance at survival!! We are breaking this sum up into 2 smaller goals to be more attainable. Our first goal to save Nour’s life is to raise $4000 USD/$5656 CAD.

Traumatized in Ireland While my Family is Facing Death and Starvation in Gaza

I contemplate the happy faces of people around me here in Ireland and reminisce about the happy normal life my family and I had before the war. A life that turned into a distant memory for us and was replaced by an unending series of horrible nightmares.

Unlike my family in Gaza, people here have access to drinking water, all types of food, electricity, and a roof over their heads. Above all, they are safe, and I cannot help but wonder if they genuinely do appreciate these blessings in their lives enough.

People seem relaxed and laughing wholeheartedly around me in Ireland. I wish I could laugh too, but I am crushed way beyond recovery on the inside. I was evacuated by my Irish college after five months of living the horrors of war in Gaza. I hope you will never know what it feels like to live in constant fear and worry and be horrified by the most sickening and scary nightmares every single night while you are far away from your family in such circumstances.

When did my people in Gaza cease to be human beings worthy and deserving of a normal life? Has it become normal now for my family in Gaza to be starved and killed while the whole world is watching the genocide? If that is the case, then you will have to excuse me if I seek every avenue to bring them to Ireland and start a new normal life like all people here around me.

I was assured by the Irish Reugee Council (IRC) and lawyers in Ireland that there is hope I can reunite with my family in Ireland. In difficult times, it is hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. For me and my family, you are literally our light and hope for a better life.
