I don't want Rutherford and Tendi to become a "couple" as such, but I do like the idea of both of them still living together when they're like a hundred years old.

Cassie: Okay, we're all meeting up for drinks before we head to the estate Friday night. Cassie: Kind of seems like being a bit drunk beforehand might be good for the soul? Cassie: Old man isn't invited. Cassie: But Spencer and Silas aren't, either, so they can hang out together and do whatever old men do, idk. Read a newspaper or something. Whatever. Cassie: DRINKS. INVITED.

Book Blurb:
"The most delicious mix of chilling haunts and sweetened kisses to perk you right up...a spirited, sexy read!”—Ashley Poston, New York Times bestselling author of A Novel Love Story It's love at first haunting in a seaside town that raises everyone’s spirits from USA Today bestselling author Jen DeLuca.
Small Florida coastal towns often find themselves scrambling for the tourism dollars that the Orlando theme parks leave behind. And within the town limits of Boneyard Key, the residents decided long ago to lean into its ghostliness. Nick Royer, owner of the Hallowed Grounds coffee shop, embraces the ghost tourism that keeps the local economy afloat, as well as his spectral roommate. At least he doesn’t have to run air-conditioning.
Cassie Rutherford possibly overreacted to all her friends getting married and having kids by leaving Orlando and buying a flipped historic cottage in Boneyard Key. Though there’s something unusual with her new home (her laptop won’t charge in any outlets, and the poetry magnets on her fridge definitely didn’t read “WRONG” and “MY HOUSE” when she put them up), she’s charmed by the colorful history surrounding her. And she's catching a certain vibe from the grumpy coffee shop owner whenever he slips her a free slice of banana bread along with her coffee order.
As Nick takes her on a ghost tour, sharing town gossip that tourists don't get to hear, and they spend nights side-by-side looking into the former owners of her haunted cottage, their connection solidifies into something very real and enticing. But Cassie's worried she’s in too deep with this whole (haunted) home ownership thing…and Nick's afraid to get too close in case Cassie gets scared away for good.
Review:
When moving to a coastal town in Florida, Cassie Rutherford never expected to find ghosts in her new home or starting a romance with the cute grumpy cafe owner Nick Royer. Cassie Rutherford needed a change, especially since all her friends are getting married and having kids... so she does what any sensible person does, she buys a house in Florida and decides to flip it. Yet from the moment she steps into her house she notices something unusual... it's haunted. Then she meets Nick Royer, owner of the Hollowed Grounds coffee shop who also happens to have a spectral roommate. With a ghost of her own haunting her new home, Cassie is determined to help her ghost, deal with her new feelings for a certain coffee shop owner, and embrace the change in her life. This was a cute cozy spooky season romance perfect for autumn/october! Its a cute rom com with ghosts, a seaside coastal town, cute coffee shop owner, and heart. It's a sweet read and I had fun with it. It's definitely a great one to add to your autumnal reads list! The ghosts were fun and the romance was sweet. I just felt like it was such a cute cozy coffee shop read and I would absolutely recommend it.

Does she worry about what Félix's association with the Rutherford family could do to his career if their shady dealings are exposed?
Yes, especially now that the two of them are having a child together. It's been in the back of her mind since the two of them met in Dubai that tying her future and ambitions to his means that at some point she'll need to distance herself from the Rutherfords. Preferably before shit hits the fan. That's a big part of the reason she made the call to Cassie that night at Adriana's party.
The Rutherford family's shadiness is 100% a conversation she needs to have with Félix, but it's not a conversation she really knows how to start.

LOCATION — Burj Khalifa, Dubai. DATE — August 4th, 2023. STARTER — Closed for @ayaz--ates
His brain feels like it's pounding against the confines of his skull.
He stares at Cassie's latest text, fingers going knuckle-white around the cellphone. Gizli Bahçe... Is he reading it right? Or has his self-sabotaging mind merely chosen the one place that could make a bad situation worse?
Gideon surges to his feet with less grace than he otherwise would've liked and leaves the bar in desperate search of... Someone. Lara, preferably, or maybe Henry. Adriana would've been another choice had it not been her birthday... Hell, even Melissa if he hadn't pushed away the Underboss in the most public manner possible. If he lays this on her now, he's half-certain she'd let Ayda's little bar burn just to teach him a lesson.
His eyes rove over a sea of people, squinting intermittently to focus his vision as he searches for someone useful. All the while, Gideon's heart thrums against his ribcage, anxiety building. That's when he sees him — possibly the best candidate for the task; if only he'd thought to text him six minutes sooner.
"Ay- Ayaz." The Rutherford's voice cuts into a conversation that he isn't sober enough to apologize for or even to truly notice as he clasps a heavy palm over the lieutenant's shoulder, coming into view. "Need to talk. Emergency."

"Oh, like in Fantastic Four issue number-."
"Mariner, how many comic books did you read?" cut in Boimler.
"I dunno. All of them?"
"You were alone for ten minutes!"
Rutherford pulled out his tricorder, took a scan, and frowned.
"Did you touch anything else?" he asked as he pulled out a medical kit.
"Just a machine made by some Reed Richards guy," she admitted, letting Rutherford shine a light in her eye, "it made time loopy. Gave me months to read all the comics. OH! Reed Richards is Mr. Fantastic! He's a real jerk in some universes. Made his friends zombies."
"Yeah, that's what I thought," he sighed as he shot her with a hypospray, "she has Dimensional-Shift syndrome. Her time in the loop synced her brain with alternate timelines from your universal cluster. This will fix her up, but she's gonna ramble for a while."
"The Hulk ate Spider-Man. Also, Xavier's in love with Jean Grey in one universe? What's up with that? I mean, first Viv's mom fucks her brother and now this? Why's it always the mutants?" she continued, before suddenly breaking down crying, "FLOOR DESERVED BETTER!"
Boimler knocked her out with a stun phaser.
"What? We were all thinking it!"
Rutherford rolled his eyes and turned back to Abigail.
"You get used to... this," he sighed, "anyways, if we can delay launch by like, ten minutes, I'm sure Cassie and I can compare notes to minimize risks. I'm thinking a small dropship that can disrupt the shield in a very small area so the attack team can sneak through. Anyone that's monitoring the field will detect it as a micro-meteorite strike."

This planet Jason was on was once thriving world. A planet full of trees, water, animals, and people. All who lived peacefully on the planet, until a war broke out in this sector. This left the planet in ruins, all of its resources plundered, and its people nearly wiped out. Centuries have passed and the planet has been nearly forgotten.
Jason was told the planet was under the control of a group called the Klingons. He didn’t think too much about it and knew he would be out of here before they found out or one of their allies.
He walks over towards his prize. A box containing a valuable item that he knew would come in for a pretty penny…or whatever currency the people of this universe use. He walks over and begins to disable any security systems around, before getting his prize. He wipes away the dirt from it, opens it, and smiles when he saw what’s inside.
“Just like the buyer said,” Jason whispered before putting the box in his bag.

@mobscene-starters Time: After Party.
"Look, I was pregnant and hormonal for the last two awards, you best be damn sure I'm going to enjoy the hell out of this one."
Especially when the drinks were free and she had no problem rinsing Damon Rutherford for all he was worth. The politician had found herself in the pool, because why the fuck not? Silas was roaming around the place shirtless somewhere all so she could take a dip without ruining a dress that was little more than underwear, anyway. The man was a certifiable keeper, and she loved him with her entire fucking soul.
"Open up," she urged, lifting the freshly opened bottle of champagne ready to pour directly into her company's mouth. They'd put a couple of tables in the shallow end of the pool which mean the party wasn't resigned to dipping one's feet, and what better place to wash away the scum of Rutherford money than in a Berkeley pool? Cassie waded forward to get closer. "It's only the best stuff, I promise."

Does Yvonne trust anyone who works for the Rutherford family who isn't a direct relative? Does she even trust them?
Not really. I think once upon a time, she trusted Johnathan, but that relationship kinda shit the bed when she shot him. And she sure as hell has never trusted Melissa Lin.
The big thing about Yvonne is that she's grown up aware of what her family is and she's never known anything different. She very much sees the world as everybody looking out for themselves and their ambitions because that's what she grew up being modeled in front of her. And when it comes to her family, she trusts them to an extent. But she also knows how the loyalty lies in her family and to who everyone is loyal to. Gideon is the one she trusts the most, but while he has no loyalty to Andrew, he's absolutely still loyal to Lara, Damon, and Adriana and will do anything to protect them. And Yvonne never wants to ask him to choose between them. Damon is 100% loyal to Andrew and Lara so Yvonne definitely doesn't trust him when it comes to things like the conversation she's having with Cassie Acton. Same with Adriana. And come on, does anyone really think Yvonne and Lara would ever trust each other?

They didn't owe her information. The fact Emilio shared anything with her at all these days might well have been considered a violation given her tentative connections, and their not so ambiguous relationship with the Italians. It wasn't as though she knew Gideon beyond their handful of meetings, even if they had all been positive. It wasn't as though these were the kinds of things she asked...
"No. I didn't know that." A disappointing revelation, indeed.
It wasn't in her nature to make snap judgements, and perhaps it wasn't in his best interest to offer context, but Gianna couldn't imagine a scenario in which attacking someone who was, by all accounts, uninvolved in the family business, was warranted. Wasn't the exactly the kind of thing the French and Russians did?
"I can't, in good conscience, support allying with the Russians. You know that," she said; the very reason she'd gravitated toward the Sovrani in the first place. Their greatest enemy supported the people who murdered the man she'd expected would one day be her brother-in-law. Tried to kill Cassie. Terrorised her city long before the Vorshevskys had shown up. It was personal choice as opposed to logical, and perhaps that's why she would never overtly condemn the Rutherfords for the decision...but it was also the reason they'd never been an option. "I don't understand how it came about, and I don't want to, but please be careful. I worry." A lot.
Johnathan nods slowly, hands sitting on suited hips, ruminating over her words. First Yvonne, then Adriana, now Gianna... Out of the three of them, Johnathan knows that Gianna would be able to defend herself, but there was no training when it came to protecting matters of the heart. He didn't want her to go through anything she didn't have to.
"Alright," he says finally, by way of saying: I believe you. And he did. He'd just have to talk about it with Emilio first.
"They attacked Gideon, did you know that? Gideon. A doctor." For all of his weaknesses, and Johnathan did regard Gideon making himself comfortable on his high horse as a weakness, he was a good kid. So, rational and respectful? She sounded biased. "She was defending him. She doesn't know how to use a gun." A fucking mess, is what that was. "It was a poor move from their side, and a poor reaction from ours."
"I haven't had the chance to speak with him yet. That little prick Benjamin got to him before I did." Which made them look like a fucking joke. "But I don't plan on making an enemy out of him."

LOCATION — The Rutherford Estate, Kingston Upon Thames. DATE — October 25, 2024. Later that day. STARTER — closed for @cassandra-acton
Oh, he's still mad at her.
Deeply annoyed, in fact, especially when he'd found Spencer clowning around in a similar shirt not five minutes after leaving Cassie outside of that marquee tent, earlier in the day. But given the incessant yo-yo that forms the baseline of their relationship, it's easy enough to cast his irritation aside when he finds out who she'll be sharing a tent with, tonight. Bigger fish to fry, and all that, knowing her stance on the Russians.
So he looks for her on and off throughout the day, which is so much harder than it was in the morning, given the sea of people that have amassed on the grounds since then. It's early evening by the time he tracks her down, and from the look on Cassandra's face as she marches towards her camp site, his misgivings don't seem far off.
"Cass, hey... Slow down." She's got the gait of a soldier heading into certain doom, and he's a little winded. Too much checking in, too much running around, as Adriana would say. "I know you probably get tired of hearing this, but he's not like the rest of them."
Gideon cringes inwardly, wary she might lambaste him for it. He's guilty of using the same excuse for Mila in the past; for some of his family, too. Cassandra's face is partly obscured, but he tries to spy out her expression, nonetheless.
"He wouldn't hurt you. I really believe that. But if you want me to talk to Diana..."
