Okay, my brain refuses to think about anything other than Murderbot, so I looked at every use of the word "friend[s]" in TMBD and... created some pie charts. Normal human activities.

Some Thoughts™ I had while putting this together (under the cut):

In All Systems Red, Murderbot notes that the PresAux crew are all close friends (twice! and goes on to explain their internal relationships which I think is very cute). This is pretty much the only use of 'friends' in ASR, except for when Murderbot says that SecUnits can't be friends with each other.

It seems that this may be one of the first times Murderbot has ever really been around a group of friends before? Murderbot notes that this is not the norm for its contracts and admits that the fact that they are all friends and the way they interact with each other make it actually enjoy that contract (before!!!! the hostile attack, so it already enjoys this contract before they start seeing it as a person etc ghghhhh). [Inference: Friendship seems enjoyable.]

The first character that calls Murderbot its friend is ART in Artificial Condition. Murderbot immediately refutes this (and then goes on to call ART its friend to its clients for the rest of the book). [Inference: Maybe ART is Murderbot's friend. And maybe that is... agreeable]

Rogue Protocol has more than twice as many instances of the word 'friend' as any of the other novellas. Why? Miki. Friendship and its implications for non-humans are a central theme because Miki is friends with everyone. Murderbot initially scoffs at the notion that Miki and Miki's humans are friends. At the end of the book, after witnessing how desperately Don Abene tried to stop Miki from trying to save them, and her grief after its death, Murderbot has to admit that she had in fact been Miki's friend. [Inference: Humans can be friends with bots and can sincerely care about them]

In Exit Strategy, Murderbot tentatively uses the word "friends" for its humans for the first time (several times actually). It questions whether it can actually call them its friends or not and later realizes that it had been afraid what admitting that the humans are its friends would do to it. At the end of the book, Mensah tells Murderbot the PresAux crew are its friends, which is the first time a human has directly said that to it (at least on-page). [Inference: Humans can and want to be Murderbot's friends]

In Network Effect, Murderbot seems to be more habituated to the word 'friend', confidently calling ART and Ratthi its friends, like it is no longer just trying the concept on unsure if it fits. There are many instances in which other characters refer to MB as ART's friend or the other way around and Murderbot's humans refer to Murderbot as their friend several times. Generally, there seems to be less hesitancy, because yes, all of them are Murderbot's friends, why wouldn't they be. [Inference: SecUnits can have friends. This SecUnit has friends. They care about it a lot.]

Conclusion: The Murderbot Diaries tell the story of a construct that does not seem to consider the possibility of friendship for itself and is fine with that - until it accidentally starts caring a little too much and suddenly more and more people annex it as a friend (ew) to the point where it can no longer deny that this is happening and has to begrudgingly admit that yes, it has friends now and maybe that is actually not a bad thing.

concerning fitzmartin's line of tim saying bernard showed him there is more to him than he was settling for and brings out the real me, is that an attack on his past romance and saying he was settling for them or more talking about being queer and discovering that

I mean, I certainly read it as a sort of attack (though I think "attack" might be a bit too strong a word) because Fitzmartin hasn't shown respect for the, out-of-universe, near 30 year long relationship Tim had with a woman or, in fact, the woman in question. Tim breaks up with Stephanie off-panel, we never get her feelings on the matter anywhere and when Fitzmartin does write her, it's as a prop for Timber. I mean just look at this:

and tell me the author cares for or respects Stephanie Brown as a character.

I also resent the implication that Tim couldn't have been his best queer self with Steph because she'd absolutely fully accept him. And he's not gay, he's bisexual, he's still attracted to women.

So why is being with a woman "settling" when he was previously talking about her like this:

Tim loved Stephanie. He was in love with Stephanie. She was his last thought before dying and he was committed to a future with her. There wasn't even a hint of a crack in their relationship prior to Urban Legends, in fact, I'd argue they were at the happiest and healthiest they'd maybe ever been.

So yeah, to me, Tim talking about "settling" and not being able to be himself before Bernard is 1) bullshit and 2) an attempt by the author to downplay his previous relationship. I don't really care to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Hey y'all I am still working on the goat in a dress but am delayed by a POTS flareup so I will not be working on it more until tomorrow I forgot asparagus is a diuretic. Again. lol

(for anyone reading this with no context for why that matters, I have both POTS and salt wasting syndrome and am on medication that is literally the opposite of a diuretic to help keep my blood pressure up. Eating a bunch of asparagus kind of temporarily undid that effect and I am very tired but fine, and I'll be back to normal in the morning)

Voice predictions for Silent Salt & Eternal Sugar!

I beleive Eternal Sugar will have a high pitch voice that will be somewhat soothing. As for Silent Salt, I imagine a harsh, slightly deep voice (assuming they're male, which is most likely I believe).

The choice of voice actors below are the closest to who I can think of having the voices I imagine.

You know what, I will never forgive ya’ll for labeling Marinette as a stalker just like how I don’t forgive you guys for labeling Chat Noir as a harasser.

These negative or misconstrued notions of these characters is absolutely why I don’t touch Marinette salt because of the amount of bs or OOC Marinette is in them. (Not like ML Salt follows any logic or canon characteristics because people just love salting on characters they dislike) (Except Lila, Chloe and Gabriel, they kinda suck so I hardly think salting on them ruins the character)

Amelie is not what she appears.

So I have been going through Miraculous again with some roommates I got into the show. This rewatch has given me a new look and upon finishing Felix I think Amelie is just as controlling as the other horrible rich parents, she just uses different methods.

Amelie controls by kindness. In Felix I believe she is testing to see how far Felix will go for her, so make a big deal about getting the de Vanily twin rings to see what he does. When he gets a ring back praise him and thank him for doing this for you then give him a ring as a reward. This makes it really easy to approach Felix with a sigh looking at the ring he is wearing and saying truly what I wanted was the Peacock miraculous.

But why? Why would she do this? I think she is interested in owning all the miraculous. I think that she or rather her family "owns" the land in Thailand that Gabriel, Natalie, and herself went to and found the Peacock in. Therefore as far as she see's it she owns all the miraculous. Why she wants them now? I do not know, but I do not trust her.

i usually don't talk about my problems with miraculous because i want this to be a safe and no drama space...

...and also cause if i did i would just change basically all the directorial and creative choices of this show. if it was in my power most of the plots or cringey scenes of this season wouldn't even exist or would've been fixed.

and i want to elaborate but i can't cause if i do i'll start thinking about it for too long, all of the things i would change or keep or fix for it to be a show that i can call good to this day

Pairing: Chloé & Adrien Summary: Adrien is forced into attending a charity ball with his parents, but at least there's someone else there his age. (Pre-TWEOS; circa 2001. Adrien is approximately 11 years old)

I'll admit, the conclusion isn't super satisfying since it was only a lore drabble, but I think it puts Chloé & Adrien's childhood relationship into good context. It also expands a little on the repercussions of, uh... Audrey Bourgeois's actions. (And, to an extent, lack thereof as the Agrestés were all but happy to cover it up.)
