fives x min is definitely the sunshine character x grumpy character trope on the surface where fives is of course sunshine and i am the grump. irl, i come off as very intimidating and grumpy and have resting 'ill murder you face' and i tend to be drawn to people who are outwardly the opposite. HOWEVER, on the inside and around ppl im comfortable with, im much more like how i present myself online. and i believe that fives when he's around someone he's comfortable with would allow himself to be more serious and contemplative in addition to being his goofy, lovable, talkative self

i think that if i met fives, our first interaction wouldn't be amazing. potentially i would come off as cold and i think that fives would take that as a challenge to get me to open up. and eventually it would work bc i am not immune to goofballs. in fact i would say i specifically love goofballs so much that im instantly drawn to them even if i try to hide it. eventually we'd become friends and one thing would lead to another and we'd realize "shit i love this idiot" and since im a firm believer that fives once he knows what he wants will do whatever it takes to get it (im also like that) there wouldnt be any pining or drawn out will they wont they. it would just be 'hey i like you' 'cool me too' 'nice' and that's that

i believe that fives is a really good communicator and is incredibly in touch with his feelings (or at least if he's feeling confused would want to sit down and talk through his feelings) and those are both really incredible traits to find in a partner. communication imo is key for a long lasting relationship. i think we would have arguments of course bc every relationship has those but at the end of the day we would never go to bed angry at each other.

i think fives would be the best partner (i have many thoughts about this like thousands of words of thoughts) and would bring out the best in me. he would help me open up and relax and laugh at life when i feel like i cant. and i think i would ground him and be someone he draws strength and comfort from. im personally an acts of service love language girlie (both giving and receiving love) and i think fives would love to do things for the person he loves but he would personally value physical touch and words of affirmation as ways of receiving love

i think we would be best friends and value our friendship as much as our romantic relationship. i think we'd do so many things together from something as mundane as going to the grocery store to going to concert together to planning trips together so that we can experience the world (galaxy?) together. i think i'd teach him how to cook and he would learn to bake and we'd bond over food. but just as much as we would do things together, i think we would be comfortable and happy having space for ourselves.

if this is irl, i think fives' hobbies would include learning how to play an instrument (personally i think he'd like to learn how to play the guitar) and he'd like to go hiking and take pictures of nature and document things he finds in nature in a journal (like little sketches of plants and animals). i think he and echo would go whitewater rafting and backpacking. and as i already mentioned i think fives would get really into baking.

if this is star wars universe and we're in a post war galaxy where clones have recognized rights and are free to live their life as citizens of the republic (bc i want to be happy this am) i think fives would still love baking, but i think his post war job could be a couple of things. he could go to school and study ecology and either become a teacher ( i think he would be a great teacher sOBS) or would become a scientist that goes to different planets to documents and study different species of flora.

we wouldn't get married in any traditional sense. but we would be together for 50+ years as i said and get sappier and more silly as life goes on aND YEAH

Thinking about an AU where Techno, Wilbur and Tommy are all the harbingers of the actual entire apocalypse and Phil (just some insane guy) decides that those are in fact his kids and starts gaslighting the absolute shit out of them about it.

I wanna try something where they're just more insidious and passive killers than anything else, theyre mostly just biding their time and watching as wherever they're lingering around gets sicker and just starts withering away.

They're a slow moving threat that just can't be stopped and for some reason (because Kristin thinks its funny) Phil just isnt affected by them.

Phil: Oh Techno's always been like that ever since he was a baby Techno: I have literally never met you a day in my life Tommy: Idk man... you have always been like that Wilbur: Oh my death he's actually getting to us

Its a mix of that combined with that "how did he know I was a gemini" meme

I just think itd be super fun since Phil in this au is literally just some insane dude. He literally lies about their entire childhood but does it so consistently and so realistically that it throws them off guard.

I also have a few ideas where they start referring to Phil as their dad in the beginning as a sarcastic / mocking thing but accidentally just getting themselves even more adopted as they do it.

Phil: Wilbur put on a coat Wilbur: I don't need one! Techno: Go on, Wil. Listen to dad Wilbur: Ugh fine. Only because dad wants it, though

Just a mixture of things like that where it starts as calling him it but then accidentally actually giving him parental authority along with that.

I also wanna explore how Kristin and Phils relationship would be like. Maybe her as death being very bemused by this silly human that just decided she was his wife one day.

She literally visits him in dreams and stuff and he just acts as if they're married and have been for years. He complains about their 'rambunctious kids' and how he has to threaten them with her so that they behave sometimes. She finds it so silly and just cant help but play pretend.

Kristin: Hello, human Phil: My love! Its been so long since I've seen you Kristin: We've never met Phil: Oh don't say that! It hasnt been that long. I've just been far too occupied with our boys to visit too much Kristin: Our boys? I made them Phil: And they came out beautiful! I'm so glad Wil and Tech got your eyes. I was hoping they would.

I think that'd be a core part of this AU as well. Everyone is playing pretend but then it just fuzzies and it all becomes real for them. At first its a joke that Phil is her husband and their father but then they get lost in the fantasy and fun of it all and actually accept him as such.

Phil has no ulterior motives either, he's literally just a strange insane man that heard stories about neotrio and started thinking they were his kids one day. He genuinely believes his delusion and they end up accidentally making it a reality.

He just makes lucky guesses and plausible lies often enough that he's still shiny and new, he's still fun to play with and thats what ends up 'tricking' them all.

what do you think about ludora (lucius x pandora)?

i haven’t really considered them, sorry!! i’ve seen a few of saints posts where they’ve been tagging them and i’m intrigued!! but i don’t know any lore about them other than that, so i dont really have thoughts:/

however. i am very big on lurthur (lucius/arthur) which is genuinely the only thing that’s been on my mind for days now. so let me take this opportunity to talk about my (and @sugarsnappeases ) lucius <3

my lucius is transfemme but doesn’t ever come out. she does present as sort of androgynous, but in a way that she gets away with it. she’s tall and well respected, but she has her long hair and she’s sooooo pretty. she yearns for everything bellatrix despises. they’re absolut polar opposites to me. lucius wants to be a fragile woman, someones wife, more than anything. she’s a coward bad at being a father and worse at being a husband and she’s just bad at being a man. she yearns for womanhood. to me. but will never live as one.

except for! with arthur. they’re secretely dating at hogwarts. arthur was a mix of bill and charlie back at school. he was a soft punk leftist stoner type guy. and they’re just drawn to each other and start having this secret affair behind closed doors. arthur wears his leather jacket and tells lucius that she’s so pretty. such a pretty thing. braids her hair and touches her gently. like lucius has always longed for. however! they dont communicate. lucius never actually tells arthur her deepest desires about being a woman. never tells arthur how badly she wants to be his wife. arthur treats her like this because he knows her better than anyone, but lucius never lets him all the way in. so arthur knows lucius wants to be treated gently, wants to be called pretty, wants to bat her eyelashes at him and wear pretty things. and thats enough for lucius. its as good as its going to get. they’re always doomed because lucius has to marry a woman and produce an heir. its her only duty.

they break up eventually and both of them get married. athur marries molly, which is ALSO lucius’ opposite. everything she’ll never be. she’s funny, happy go lucky, charming, pleasant— and a woman. lucius is tall, bony, lanky, unpleasant, a downright cunt— and not (percieved as) a woman. she hates molly with a passion. she’s resentful and jealous and downright nasty whenever molly visits arthur at work. because arthur and lucius both work at the ministry <3

lucius marries narcissa. narcissa who’s so similar to lucius. according to me and @sugarsnappeases. they’re both quiet, prefers being in the background, scared, timid. lucius is essentially marrying the woman he so desperately wants to be. which is so interesting in contrast to narcissas own self hatred about her position. like yeah there’s probably a small pool of pureblood witches she’s allowed to choose from, but she’s still percieved as a man and has the choice. and she picks narcissa because it’s the version of herself that’s allowed to be a woman. it’s an okay marriage at first. they sort of understand each other. but it turns more and more sour the older lucius gets, the more she pushes down her own womanhood. she resents narcissa just for being allowed to be her wife.

the affair with arthur continues because neither of them can stop. it continues for years! years!!!! and they’re still not really communicating. lucius has this entire one sided version of their affair where she’s arthurs mistress. she makes sure they’re always messing around in arthurs office because lucius wants to feel like the wife/mistress coming to seduce their husband at work. but she never actually outright tells arthur all of thus. again, arthur knows her better than anyone and makes lucius feel like herself in ways no ever has, but never completely. never fully. arthur doesn’t know about how lucius yearns to be his wife. his girl. he asks arthus to tell her she’s prettier than molly. and arthur does. always. lucius asks him to tell her shes prettier than narcissa. and arthur does. tells lucius she’s the prettiest thing he’s ever seen. lucius will dress up for arthur, wear womens underwear, silk anything, do her hair and arthur will treat her gently and worship her

so like. lucius never gets to live as a woman but she gets (almost) everything she wants from this affair with arthur. because she has her own idea about what this affair is. in her head she really is arthurs good girl. she’s made it out in her head where she’s the woman of arthurs dream. AND SHE IS !!!!!! AND ARTHUR WOULD SAY SO !!!! IF THEY TALKED !!!!! BUT THEY DONT !!!!!!!

molly gets pregnant. its fine. arthur has lucy on his lap in some weird wizard motel and tells her it doesnt matter. i’ll never leave you. i cant leave you. i’ll be here. you’re my pretty star. i’m your man. it doesn’t have to change anything.

bill is born. it changes everything. arthur falls in love at firt sight. having a kid changed arthur wholeheartedly. he looks into that baby’s eyes and he decides there and then he’ll clean up his act. hes going to be a good husband and a good role model.

arthur loves his kids more than he loves lucy, but he loves lucy more than he loves molly. he spends his days with his kids (HIS MILLION KIDS) and its enough. it fills his heart and there’s no lucy shaped void. then he goes to bed with molly and that’s when lucy comes running back into his mind again.

so they break ut off. for real this time. and arthur doesn’t come back. he wont let himself. and lucius just. goes off the fucking deep end after this.

she finally produces an heir and hopes maybe she’ll understand. she’ll see her kid and feel what arthur feels. but draco is born and lucy doesn’t feel anything. but narcissa connects with draco immediately. and lucy hates her for it. hates her for her maternal instincts and is so jealous and resentful. arthur is gone and even tho arthur never knew the full truth, it was the closest thing lucy had. the closest thing she had to feeling like a woman (which. unhealthy. and isnt fair on arthur obviously. this is not a wholesome love story). now she’s fully and completely trapped being a well respected pureblood husband, statis, a father, there’s a war at the horizon. etc etc etc .

arthur and lucy almost relapse once. years and years later. after the first war. maybe even after ginny is born. lucy is in arthurs office. and theyve just been talking. and its getting intimate. and arthur knows its dangerous territory. and hes been avoiding this. but he just cant this time. and eventually they’re so close. their lips are only inches apart. and lucy says ’i’d leave it all for you, if you asked.” and that’s. ruins everything. arthur snaps out of it immediately.

BECAUSE WHAT LUCY MEANS IS I WANT TO BE YOUR WIFE. I WANT A SECOND CHANCE AND I WANT IT WITH YOU. BUT WHAT ARTHUS HEARS IS I WOULD LEAVE MY FAMILY WITHOUT THINKING TWICE. I’D ABANDON MY CHILD. AND THATS THE THING. THEY HAVENT EVER COMMUNICATED. ARTHUR DOESNT KNOW WHAT LUCIUS THINKS SHES OBVIOUSLY TELLING HIM. all arthur hears is that lucy would abandon her son. and arthur changed when he had children. and what lucy means is i did it all wrong and i regret it and i want to be your wife.

kara had this really interesting point about lucius and narcissa being very similar in that way of not communiacting. and in being hopeless (irrational) romantics. like. lucius thinks that arthur should just know. lucy is convinced that arthur is the love of her life. that they were made for each other. and arthur should just be able to know. be able to read between te lines. lucy thought she was being romantic when she said she’d leave everything behind for arthur. BUT THATS NOT WHAT ARTHUR HEARS .

anyway. yeah. lucius gets to feel like a woman twice in her life and it’s with arthur and bellatrix. you can read about her relationship with bellatrix here and here. which to me takes place during the first war, post arthur breaking it off with lucius. it’s unbelievably unhealthy and self destructive and not dynamics i endorse! but dynamics i find interesring nonetheless <3 also tw for pseudo incest i guss because lucy begs bella to tell her she’s prettier/better than narcissa and bella does <3 because she’s also fucked up !

okay thank you for giving me the excuse to talk about it actually cause i was thinking this since the season started. people's ENTIRE interpretation of jeff as a character hinges and is almost exclusively based on THERE WAS NO BOOK CLUB? literally everything else he does gets twisted so he can stay this fanon dream himbo wifeguy. and that's the show's fault to an extent for sure cause there is a framing there due to how much they want jeff in the comic relief role. but the show does make a point of showing that jeff is deeply disturbed by shauna, that he's been a shit husband actually and he's kind of an awful person tbh. like! thats not a character flaw per se, we are all here for awful characters. but people don't want an interesting dynamic between those two or for jeff to be more than a one dimensional goofy idiot. and they also want shaunajeff to be like. santa clarita diet marriage or whatever which. loved santa clarita diet but that's AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT THING. and an entirely different type of show and we do all get that this would strip shauna of all her amazing nuances right? right? anyways back to jeff. people will see how he reacts to shauna pulling that gun or how he's entirely against everything shauna does regarding callie and go omg wifeguy always supportive. he is not? and for good reasons lmao? people will see teen jeff cheating and be like ye shauna was awful for doing this to jackie but jeff is just a poor little idiot plus (did see a take like this which. hello) jackie wouldn't have sex with him so he's without fault. like. what. anyways he's a cheater who found out SOME of what his wife experiened in the wilderness (not everything for sure cause that man is way waaay WAY too freaked out by shauna's behaviors to know it all lets be real) and decided to profit off the victims he knew as a teen dgsbjfjdjdsb like he offered to go to jail for adam murder in part cause his own blackmailing scheme is what pushed shauna to kill adam? just cause he's kind of funny every once in a while doesn't mean he's A Loving Himbo Wifeguy. all jeff related posts are that and its why i started having an allergic reaction to jeff

maron had a paramour before wedding daenerys and he sent her away before the marriage because he knew daenerys would take offense to it, and he didn't want to risk the still fairly new targ-martell alliance, or risk angering daeron, which could theoretically pose a risk to maron's own sister. the family's one real conflict is that the paramour has a son who later shows up claiming he's maron's REAL oldest child and that aeron is actually a blackfyre. thankfully the dornish are not stupid and basically just go ????? before kicking the kid out. well actually a lot more happens than just that but yk how it is. that plotline is also only barely existant. i havent even read a knight of the seven kingdoms yet

If you introduce a canon couple and get me invested in the romance, it has to actually go somewhere. Lyler was a plot device to get you to hate Heather. Duncney went through an entire arc. Gwent was amazing.

Why do no other ships bring that energy?

I love Samkota, but Sam was just a trophy husband for Dakota after her mutation. He's a passive participant in his own romance arc.

Gens 3 and 4 improve on this I think, but it still annoys me.

These two could barely sell and interesting friendship, and somehow you expect them to carry an entire romance plotline? Its the most bland of bland ships. If you want a Sapphic way to resolve the despised love triangle, Gweather is right there. They actually have chemistry.

It feels like they took all of Duncan's hard work of getting Courtney to relax and enjoy life, and made Gwen have the same effect on her when it doesn't make sense with the characterization. If anything, Courtney making Gwen be more serious makes sense.

It’s gross when people turn on the RL partner’s or their fave celebrity ANYWAY, but to sit there “analyzing” a cute social media post as proof of… idk, infidelity on David’s part? Because that’s really all it’s actually leading up to. They’re insisting that Georgia Tennant is desperate to keep David from leaving her for Michael Sheen and so is being inappropriate and I just want to hit that person with a dose of reality. And to judge Georgia for taking a video or David’s untied shoes, which she probably then sent to a friend or family member and then when he said something funny publicly she shared it with the world. And somehow THATS PROOF OF HER BEING A TERRIBLE PERSON/WIFE OR OF HER BEING NOTHING MORE THAN PAPARAZZI???

And then saying that she used to be protective of “his family”??? First of all 1) it’s THEIR family! but like. i wanna engage with this more genuinely i think. because there is something to be said about the oversaturation of romance in media and how people consume media and how that can be particularly alienating to aromantic people or people just. disinterested in romance for whatever reason. However, I think Flower Husbands is a poor example of that, particularly regarding fandom.

Flower husbands is, in large part, a joke. Everyone is aware of that. Scott is a natural flirt with his army of husbands, and Jimmy wasn't particularly different except for the way Scott leaned into "mourning his husband" in the end of 3rd Life. You're clearly not claiming that there aren't romantic jokes in the first place, but rather that they aren't invitations to ship.

I disagree. Scott has spoken on the matter and said he didn't mind people shipping them, as long as people are aware it's not real. No one is shipping them in real life, Jimmy's very cute with his girlfriend, Scott is single. People were only ever shipping them in the context of Third/Last Life and Empires SMP. Whether as a canonically married couple or as fantasy rulers of empires. Exception: confused people in my comments section on Youtube asking if they're dating lol.

Scott and Jimmy are fully aware of the shipping content, and if they didn't want people to produce it, they'd say something (well, they have said something, they said they're fine with it), or stop actively baiting fans with things like videos titled "So I took Him on a Date...". Scott is a lot more vocal about it, but they're friends. If Jimmy had a problem, he'd ask him to stop.

As far as I'm aware, Scott enjoys tormenting Flower Husband Shippers. If you haven't heard, back in October, Sausage "kissed" Jimmy on empires, frantically claiming "don't tell Scott". Shortly afterwards. Scott then added a bunch of break up/sad songs to the Flower Husbands playlist. And evidently was hanging out in the tag seeing how people were reacting because I posted art of Scott crying and eating ice cream while Jimmy and Sausage kissed in the background and he made it the playlist icon within 14 minutes of posting.

Then later returned the playlist to its original form except the icon was now more of my art, one that was less jokey.

Also the September 21st stream where Scott was building and listening to musicals, he was constructing elaborate /r Flower Husbands concepts to the music.

So. TLDR;

Neither Scott or Jimmy mind shipping content, in fact, Scott actively encourages it, and it's not accurate to say non-ironic romantic Flower Husbands is a reach.

oh i am looking directly at those tags. i am rotating your martin in my brain like a rotisserie chicken. low empathy martin who’s had to struggle to figure out the behaviors it takes to appear compassionate was already very close to my heart, but yours comes with all these arbitrary rules in place, this set value of himself - is it that he values himself so little that he would have a hard time respecting people who actually fall for his song and dance? or what is it?

Something about an inherited hatred.

Martin has to be the one who takes care of people because he always has. He had to take care of his terminally ill mother who hated him. Had to give up everything he could have dreamt of to take care of her; dropped out of school in his final year, got a job too early, dead end into dead end, lied his way into a position where he worked library for the next five years.

A careful mix of victims of the lonely loving the loneliness and Martin's own misconceptions and personal form of seclusion. They [victims of the lonely] hate being with other people, and they can meld into society in a way where you almost don't notice how they hate it but you can't fully get rid of it. Its an awkward discomfort that they just cant erase. And the only way Martin learned to love was through taking care of people by force.

His mother never explained things to him and it infuriated him, broke his heart. Everything would be so simple if people just talked about it. Except.

Thats not true.

It just feels like it.

How could she admit that she didn't hate Martin for anything he did, but for his face. How could she look her husband in the face and tell him how much power he still had over her after the dust settled, and the burden was left in her already sick hands. How would that explanation ever help anything, and do anything except hurt him more.

So Martin's got it in his head that the way he can make himself lovable is through being useful. Doting, past the point of discomfort. That the problem in everything is that nobody will just talk about their issues. Nevermind that the issue could very well be just that they just don't like you. If he looks in the mirror he can see the ghost of why it would be his fault they don't like him. He can understand it. It's his face. He doesn't.... smile right.

Martin who feels like if he's earnest enough the hate will break and everyone will forgive him for an imagined sin and if everyone talks it out all of their problems will work... somehow. It's how it's supposed to work. That's the rule. Thats how things are supposed to work. It infuriates him to no end that they won't do the simple work it takes to fix things when it's just words away.

But at the end of the day Martin doesn't want a conversation, there are plenty of conversations had. Martin wants this imaginary conversation where everyone has a reasonable answer that he can smile and offer a cup of tea away. And life doesn't work like that. And if it did he wouldn't like it. Wouldn't know how to react if someone gave him open affection.

The person Martin falls for is Jon.

Not kind and funny Sasha, not flirty sort of skanky Tim, not any of the people he worked with for five years before. He fell for his boss, an unattainable position, who Hates him, who goes on record to shit talk him so one can only assume how much worse Jon is to him in person. We hear him talk to Martin to recordings and he's just as unpleasant then, and full of under the breath bitchings about mistakes and insults and hints of lies hes caught Martin in. Martin chose the unattainable position that hates him that doesn't have time to get to know him and doesn't have the patience to care about his struggle. Martin found his mother in those archives.

It's very telling to Martin's character that he's the lonely because he hates people for it. He hates people, and his facade to pretend he doesn't so nobody thinks he's weird is to be the nice chipper sort of motherly a bit naggy coworker. Hard working and earnest but just messes up.

Some nice little peeks in is that Martin opens this line of dialogue, intending to fix the s2 era of jontim hatred. He's on the record as trying several times beforehand but he's never succeeded. But it's not a conversation Martin's willing to have, because it's not what he wants to hear. He's heard it before, Jon's being sketchy again, jons "stalking them" jons "acusing them of murder" jons doing this He's doing that. So what that he is. God forbid men do anything. That's no reason to have him fired.

And Tim brings up in season two that this is supernatural and Martin dismisses that as far fetched. While in the distortion.

While in season one he has this exchange with Jon.

And right after he says this to Tim he follows into THIS handsome little lead.

Martin just looking for a reason to call Tim paranoid, and that he's being ridiculous. I don't have time to find it rn but somewhere in s5 Martin and Jon try to discuss jons monster side and he digs his heels in and refuses to listen to him changing at all. If he ignores it it isn't happening. All throughout s5 Martin is doing that when he refuses to listen to the stories, refuses to listen to jons explanation of things calling him cryptic and annoying for it when that's. The real literal explanation.

Granted its the end of the world and he feels like he's losing Jon.

But MARTIN'S the one who always always always demands an explanation, a dialogue, to explain what's happening why this is happening what Jon feels about this. And hes always the one who gets mad when it's not what he wants to hear.

Martin and Jon work because Jon can't love Martin, and when he can Martin is literally the only person left for him. Just like his mother. And he still doesn't trust him. Knows Jon will lie to him, and run away to leave him behind. And hes right.

Mmm I have work in a little bit. So I don't really have time to fix this into something that makes sense. But tldr Martin is lonely coded and the way he was raised made his evasionary tactic into a love language that has never once worked and he hides behind that.
