Ok I can't keep it in my drafts this time. enlighten me if you want; why do people think Diluc is like, a good guy?

Let me be clear, I love Diluc, but I also think he's kind of a shithead. I don't think his actions towards Kaeya can ever be construed as reasonable, his decision to seek vengeance alone irresponsible (even if Kaeya encouraged him), and his vigilantism a product of his paternalistic belief that only he knows what's good for Mondstadt (untrue).

Diluc in the present is the man trying to come back from the bad person he has been. But his solution is to force himself to do a job he never thought he'd have and challenge random Fatui factions to a fight so he can torture them in his basement. I think he has the capacity for good in him, and is trying to change, but I don't see why people think that his actions were all totally a good idea and when we say he's "an uncrowned king of Mond" that's not like, frightening.

I'm rereading The Titan's Curse and I had the thought, "How the FUCK am I supposed to enjoy the dam* chapter (*not misspelled, you know what I mean), when THAT just happened to Bianca."

And I can't compare it to my first reading bc that was ages ago, I don't remember my thoughts, but I'm pretty sure that at the time I didn't realize how final it was, and I didn't know the repercussions it would have.

It's the first "onscreen" (ignore my bad analogy) death of a human character, and a little girl, at that. There've been other close calls and fake-outs in TLT, TSoM, and in this book (with Annabeth), so I don't think it sank in for me the first time I read it, right after it happened, that she was gone gone, so I went on to "I have a dam problem" and enjoyed the puns with an easy heart .

And then there's the repercussions!!!!!!! Nico's entire arc and future personality hinge on this moment, but I didn't know that during my first reading. Now that I do know all of that.... fuck, it hits even harder from the moment I read the words. I need a second before dam puns.

i’m doing my schoolwork and all i can think about is lightfall tbh everyone keeps speculating that we’re gonna lose the light again, but i don’t see how that could happen and the game still make sense as it is? one of my favorite things about destiny is that every function has a “real world in game” function like when you die over and over again and respawn in every other shooter game it doesn’t make sense, but in destiny it does that same character is revived over and over again. its a function that has a canonical reason for existing, hell they even reference dance emoting in the lore. so with that in mind i can see doing away with the traveler and still having the light in some way loop hole etc bc that’s just the way the game is. BUT no more new guardians are born. like what exists is what there is and when every last ghost dies that’s it. no more new guardians.

every time every. time i make a new oc im like ok im gonna stick to the canon material, BUT its just too good to rewrite everything to perfectly (or not so perfectly) fit my little blorbo

it all started with: vik met v way before, specifically he helped her and vincent out when they ran away from home

but as i was walking home earlier (like 10 minutes ago) i was like why stop there what if jackie and v also met before and while i was tempted to make the friendship YEARS longer i thought of a slightly more fun thing

so basically i had been playing with the idea of v having a crush on misty for awhile, she hit on her first but misty ended up falling for jackie (all in good faith there is no bad blood whatsoever) but that didn’t really work out with the canon backstory (atleast for streetkid v (im sure it doesnt even work out now because of the timeline of jackie and misty’s relationship, someone who is smarter than i am probably knows))

so my two braincells finally collided and i came up with this:

sometime before atlanta v had randomly hit on misty somewhere (a bar or maybe even her shop) and jackie was like “hold up thats my girl” they had a little confrontation about it since both of them are pretty hotheaded and when they eventually offically meet v is like “wait a minute arent you that bull who’s dating the cute astrology chick” and then things proceed as they canonly do

So, Twilight, four and Time all appeared to get letters, with Time getting multiple (More on that later)

Twilights reaction to the super sale was my reaction while playing TP (I recently finished it for the first time! :D) when they opend the store in castle town. Every time i couldnt get there to get potions i was low key gutted.

And Four. Four's grandpa is a mood and i hope we get to meet him.

But... I, as a part of the The team is heading to Skyloft next, team. Believe that Sun has done this on purpose. (Or that the Skyloftians dont have the mail system for him to retrieve anything) but i like to think its the first one.

Hmmm.... Time got multiple letters. (That takes care of the letter discrepancy)

Twi asking about the ranch, Time looking to one of the letters. This tells me one of two things.

The letter he's looking to could be from Malon, and he's genuenly not concerned.

or The letter he's looking at isnt from malon. Infact, by the way he's looking at it i think its from his Zelda. Possibly a report about black bloods in his time period. (As last time we see them in Time's era. They dont actually fight anything)

Twilight being cheeky and Time's dad face are giving me life.

But... as we know, Time is Twilights direct decendant only by a few generations at most. With the infomation we have from Twilight princess with Shade. And from jojo with Time and Twilight. I'm seeing this conversation as more of a father and son conversation over brothers.

And the rest of this conversation follows this same pattern. Twilight is very much being scolded. He's biting back with what he see's as Time's own words. (not that time know's as such)

Twilight looks genuenly shocked to hear this.

Time is missing an eye. So we know that Shade and Time are closer together than the hero of time (In game). SO.... If time dosent Die on the adventure with the chain. I'm almost convinced he does almost right after he returns back to his time.

The armour is almost identical. He has most of the scaring which lines up....

If the helmet turns up, then i think Time dies during this adventure. It's the only thing i can see as missing.

Twilight.... Now i think Twilight thinks that the gods are giving him an opportunity to save the hero of time from dying to become the heros shade. but thats the funky thing about timetravel.

(Depending on how Jojo and LU time travels works.)

I believe that the timetravel in LU solidifies the adventures of the other links. And that nothign that occours in this adventure impacts their adventures. Even if something was changed it wouldnt change the past.

IE - Twilight breaking his shadow crystal wouldnt mean that wild didnt remember having the wolf on his adventure - as its already happened.

(I hope that makes sense. - time travel is confusing i see it as an alternative timeline type thing)

It also makes a lot of sense. If Sky is the slowest of the group(Again not confirmed but we have had jokes about his stamina), it makes sense to put him at the front to maintain pace of the group. Stops people going too fast and prevents people from being left behind.

Which i might add has already happened. (Warriors and Hyrule im looking at you.)

We just need to read the boss partterns for a bit so we can then decide how to fight it. You know, like we did when we were in our adventures and had to figure out boss mechanics.

Important that hyrule is saying this as his game is arguably one of the hardest. He probably spent a long time on each boss learning attack patterns.

for my non-blaseball-fans:

blaseball - absurdist baseball simulator watched in browser via text play-by-plays. silly / wild things could happen, ie: players getting incinerated during games. incinerated players got "replaced" via generating a new player to take their place (there was also Plot involving The Blaseball Gods written by the game devs)

fictional teams/players, no true "canon", info on players provided by the game limited to just stats, so fans were left to "lore" them

my team (hawaiʻi fridays) had an original player, thomas england, who was incinerated early on & replaced by sixpack dogwalker.

however, game servers experienced data loss of the period in which he died & the devs had to revert to a previous save & manually rebuild all player changes / win-loss records / etc (they only interfered w/ the sim when absolutely necessary)

since he was never incinerated, sixpack’s page never existed. to fix this they just changed the name on england’s player page to "sixpack dogwalker", retroactively erasing him from existence.

(absolute minimum info on more abt this: sixpack got a unique Legendary Item (Bangers & Smash) as a memorial, it was later removed meaning some of her info was the last remnant of him. then almost the same thing happened to her + this info was gone)

long story short he was the ONLY player who was EVER entirely no longer viewable anywhere on the site. and this was REALLY ironic bc our teams gimmick was we had a patron who would grant a "forever" to players, causing them to become a friday. lots of stuff about it always being friday / vibes always being right, island time, friday is inevitable, etc. so the fact that this guy was OUR GUY was insane.

hey y'all know eurylochus is a character with an Arc right. just checking.

ok to preface this: i Know i should not let one tiktok comment get to me but in my defense 1) eurylochus is my blorbo and 2) i feel like a lot of people just. dont understand eurylochus as a character and the reasoning behind the choices he makes

so jay made a recent tiktok on eurylochus and the music surrounding him and i kinda realize people just. Dont Understand that eurylochus went through an arc during the ocean, circle, and thunder sagas

not gonna call out names bc i dont want to single out this person and bc i suspect its a more common thought but i saw someone comment "why was eurylochus so upset at ody for sacrifacing 6 men to circe when he was willing to leave the men at circe's palace?"

and that question really threw me off-guard because thought it was clear that eurylochus 1) has been going through an arc and 2) he was willing to leave the men behind at circe's palace not because he didn't care about them, but he was taking in account the rest of the crew

more under the cut i did not mean to rant this long but here we are lol

jay mentioned in his tiktok here that eurylochus instrument in epic is actually the voice of the crew (kinda like how penelope's instrument is the viola) and i think this is So Interesting because it shows in musical form how all of eurylochus's decisions and choices throughout the musicals are based around about how much he cares for the crew

i wanna make it clear. eurylochus DOES care from the crew. this is true all the way from the start up until his death. literally his first lines in the musical are him asking ody what his plans are for keeping the crew fed bc their food supplies is draining

the only thing that changes abt eurylochus in his approach in how he cares for the crew. lets take this line from "full speed ahead"

"I say we strike first, we don't have time to waste So let's raid the place and—"

now the annotation on genius describes eury as being "reckless" when id argue its more him being ruthless. he doesn't want the risk of any of the crew possibly getting hurt or killed and if they strike first then that means the possibility might goes down. now obviously thats not true here but eurylochus doesnt have future vision he cant predict the fact there would be cyclopes on the island.

one thing i also think gets glossed over way too much is "luck runs out" and its a shame because it basically spells out eurylochus's mentality. he Wants to trust in odysseus's judgement and wit, but they've already lost so many men that he doesnt want to take anymore risks

(also i want to talk abt trust in eurylochus and ody's relationship bc Hoo Boy that beginning part in puppeteer where eury is trying to confess to ody that he opened the wind bag gets glossed over WAY TOO MUCH but thats another post. the most passive aggressive and frustrated "ok" ive ever heard lemme tell ya-)

so when circe turns those crew members into pigs, he's willing to leave them. he's not happy about it but he's worried for the rest of his crew members. but then he Sees odysseus use his wit to save his crew and this changes his mindset. they were able to escape circe with no bloodshed and this makes eurylochus realize that actually ruthlessness isn't the only solution.

so then when the thunder saga comes around and odysseus doesn't think of a clever plan to ensure no one dies or least the causalities are minimized, but instead chooses to sacrifice his men?? he's blindsided. like i dont think people really grasp that odysseus Chose to sacrifice six of his men, one of them being eurylochus. he didn't think of a clever plan or even attempt to think of another and then was forced to realize there was no other choice, he just accepted and was fine with sacrificing six of his men.

and i see a lot of people villainize eurylochus's choice to mutiny but you need to try and see it from his perspective. he's trying to do his best to not lose any more men on this journey and seemingly his captain is on the same page as him until suddenly he's not. at this point in the story its clear that between odysseus and eurylochus only eury is focused on getting back home AND getting the crew back home too.

overall, i just find it kind of sad how many people just. dont acknowledge the fact that eurylochus is as much as dynamic character as odysseus. he goes through his own arc that is Clearly laid out during the sagas but. no one pays attention.

and it's Doubling frustration to see his character just get boiled down to "lol idiot who opened the wind bag" or "why would he betray ody??? >:[" bc he has Valid Reasons behind his actions!!

i could make So many more posts about eurylochus bc i feel like he gets done So Dirty by the fandom and i just cant stand for it any longer 😔

(Like, the internalised need to be perfect/beautiful, blood sugar issues, etc.) (also sorry I'm incredibly sleep deprived writing this so it may not be 100% coherent-)

my miscellaneous modern au Wars IS my version of him just in the modern world, but there are a few differences, the biggest being his family relationships. His father was never in the picture in this au, he was raised by a single mother, and his relationship with her is awful at best. They don’t really speak, she’s allowed to contact him once per month (a boundary Wars set that she agreed to) and they haven’t physically been in the same room since he was 17 years old when he left home for the dorms. She was never physically abusive to him, and she does love and care about him very very much in her, but she tired to live through him after him being born ruined her career as a dancer at 19 and the amount of stress she put on him at such a young age is 100% the reason he’s BARELY a functional adult after years and years of therapy and she didn’t realize all the harm she was causing until it was far too late. She’s the reason he’s so conflicted about his love for dance and the reason he misses skating so much, because that was HIS thing and he feels like staying in dance is just doing what his mother wanted all along. Had she been older or had support raising him, she could have been a good parent, she was just very young and very angry at the situation she was in. Wars blames her for a lot of things that aren’t technically her fault, but he has every right to be upset with her. If they both worked for it they COULD have a relationship again (not a GREAT one, but something), but Wars is still trying to process a lot of trauma and he really needs space and time to heal from a lot of things. Malon kinda snatched him up the moment Twi brought him to the ranch so he has a supportive mother figure in his life, but his relationship with his actual mother is just. Not fantastic

another thing is that he didn’t grow up with sisters in this au like he did with how I write him normally, but he DOES have a half-sister from the same father, and that’s Linkle. She’s a year older than him and after HER mom died she wanted to find people from her dad’s side and ended up finding Wars and then realized they went to the same college and she was like “PERFECT!” and wanted to meet him. He was a little wary of meeting her at first (he had a lot going on in his personal life at the time) but they’ve slowly become pretty decent friends :)

apart from that, my standard Wars I write and this Wars are the same PERSON, they’ve just been through very different experiences so there are small differences simply because one of these guys went through war and the other one owns an iphone alkjslskjlksj. Both are brazilian/scottish, have blood sugar issues, a fear of returning home, a bad knee, naturally dark curly hair that’s straightened and dyed blond, horrific eyesight, etc. that’s all the same, but the cause for the need to be perfect is a little different (pressure from being the hero and having a war caused over you vs. being raised in an environment that leads you to believe that if you’re not the best you’re nothing at all)

finally, some aph uzb headcanons

i realize i've done some korea, amekor, and turkuzbek hcs but i've never actually done one of my blorbo uzbekistan. so thats changing right now

- she's of average uzbek woman height(167cm) and her hair is that shade of brown that looks almost black, but when the sunlight hits just right it looks like a faint shade of auburn. you know, that kind of hair shade.

- her name is "nargiza" which translates to "narcissus flower" or "daffodil." her close friends and family(and turkey too ig 🙄) call her nargiz for short.

- her hobbies are embroidery and quiltmaking with tajikistan, trying out new desserts to bake, reading, gossiping, piano playing and knitting(she picked up both from russia), drinking hot black tea in even hotter weather(she's a tea elitist and Will Not Consider iced tea to be part of the tea category)

- best cook. she's the best cook out of the central asians and they always try to have her cook dinner("it just hits different when you cook food for us apa")

- she has a resting scary/angry face. she looks like she's about to kill someone. but when you ask her a question she'll immediately smile and won't hesitate to help you in whatever way she can.

- has the best relationship with kazakhstan and tajikistan. though sometimes she has a habit of babying kazakhstan as an older sister. old habits from the uzbek khanate die hard i guess...

- has a weird relationship with uyghurstan, and they have a few very awkward phone calls per year. if you heard the minutes of silence sandwiched in between their conversations you'd experience second hand embarrassment.

- her relations with iran are interesting. she adopted persian as the official and court language of the bukharan khanate. but she's also tried to take parts of iran's land a few times. for a while iran even exerted control over the bukharan khanate for a few years by persian ruler nader shah until he died. there's been a lot of cultural exchange from iran to uzbekistan historically, and uzbekistan is also considered a part of the greater iran region(maybe i should give her the ahoge...). nowruz, for example, is a holiday that came from persia and is celebrated in the central asian countries, especially tajikistan and uzbekistan.

- she...doesn't like russia. not at all. it's one of the few things she and kyrgyzstan both agree on, and they've both fantasized about throwing themselves at him like rabid dogs for a while(kyrgyzstan was more serious about it, and uzbekistan had to stop him) but after her independence she had to suck up to him due to her economic reliance on him. recently, though, she's been moving away from russia in favor of spotting economic opportunities within uzbekistan that will help with self-growth(and also reaching out to turkey and china for mutual trading)

- she's not the most developed nation out there, but is still very prissy about her overall appearance. she knows how to clean up. don't even get me started on the things she wears to weddings. she isn't worried about competition because she IS the competition.

- at home, she'll wear the usual stuff you'd see an uzbek mom wear, a matching dress and pants cut from atlas fabric. she'll have a small scarf wrapped around her hair to pull it back, and has her hair up in a ponytail, bun, or braids.

- when she's out, she wears perfectly coordinated outfits every single time, hair and makeup perfectly done.

- dont be fooled though. she Will wear the definitely fake chanel sweaters and slippers with pride.

- she fake smiles a lot and tries to stop her habit of having a resting scary face. even though that's her default, she's gotten a lot of flack from old ladies throughout the centuries for it.

- generally, she's not a super expressive, bubbly person(that's her sister tajikistan). she's fine with small talk(and DEFINITELY gossiping) but depending on who it is and whether they're in her social circle or not, she'll either enjoy it or hate every agonizing second of it. When you ask about her house though, she'll tell you everything with a certain sparkle in her eyes.

- if you want her to go through all 44 feelings at once and watch her freak out and overheat like an old gaming PC just bring up turkey i guess

- to get into her social circle takes a lot of time and a lot of waiting for her to open up and talk about personal things. Think maybe...20 years at the very least.

- leading into the other headcanon of her being a little insecure. throughout the years, the uber-collectivist society of uzbekistan caused her to become more and more hyperaware of her actions and how others will think about them. the one exception is that she can't hide her disappointment.

- her predecessors are the khwarazmian empire and timurid empire. she barely knew the khwarazmian empire as uzbekistan was born as one of the few tribes to emerge after khwarazmi was engulfed by the mongols.

- she was old enough to remember timurid, however. he was like her older brother, albeit one with...skewed moral values. he'd always insist that this was all to rekindle the empire that the great genghis khan left behind, and to spread islam as a religion.

"besides," he'd add, "isn't samarqand looking absolutely beautiful lately?"

"yes, because you kidnapped the best artisans and craftsmen after looting their cities." she deadpanned.

- she was quite surprised(and impressed, by a sliver) when her brother managed to successfully siege ankara and cause a civil war in the ottoman empire. she knew timurid was growing, but she had no idea he got this strong. it almost didn't seem surprising when he announced his plans to go after china, before he died(and then respawned as the mughal empire, but that's another story.)

- "russia when i catch you russia" - uzbekistan since the 1870s

- she has a house in tashkent and bukhara, but mostly lives in tashkent now that it's the capital. since she's literally the center of central asia and borders everyone including afghanistan, they all stay at her house when traveling(turkey is stuck at a hotel whenever he visits tho...)

- her spice tolerance? dont even ask. its not there. completely gone. give her a little heinz chili sauce and she's scrambling to find water.

- once korea took her out on a date to a korean restaurant. one bite of the kimchi and it was over for her

- if you ever come over to her house, she'll spoil you with food and gifts. there will be a drama series playing on her tv as you two chat for hours. when you leave expect it to be about 8 hours after you arrived and for the walk home to be extremely heavy as she gives you 3 bags full of gifts and dried fruits and desserts.

Very glad she's back and I'll be very sad when she dies. I don't know it for certain but I can kinda see it in the arc of her character. This isn't really a series about redemption and second chances. And some spoilers I've seen she seems to be a werewolf which is a bad sign but makes her feel more bloodborne-esque and adds to my love for her. Very Eileen the Crow coded. I hope that she and Basira get some good downtime before then.

John deciding to use a rib as an anchor is a wild choice. Like, you could just ask for a pinky toe or something. The rib is feeling a little biblical which isn't a good sign for his humanity.

Also, the episode before this, Jared's voice was so distorted and staticy and punctuated by meat slaps and basey and so fucking British that I gave up trying to understand it.

I think I'm only just now getting why Tumblr is so horny for Martin and Jon. Like they're just a couple of sad wet doomed boys that are so very incapable of expressing their emotions for one another. Like I get it. Not my preferred flavor but I see it.

Also, either the Web itself was the thing that brought them back or Elias, I assume. So if the tapes are a totem of the Web clearly Jons way more wrapped up in the Web than I first expected. Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, Jon is fucking pumped full of contact with entities. The Eye is the obvious one, The Web with the tape recorders, just went fully into the Buried's domain, got fucked up my Jane Prentiss and the Corruption, lost a rib to The Flesh, The End personally spared him in his coma, got burnt by the Desolation when talking to that one lady, got hurled around by The Vast from that one guy, went toe to toe with the Stranger, various encounters with the Spiral, and probably some I'm forgetting. He should get a punch card.

Also, I don't know if this is already a theory already but I had this realization a while ago and it feels right: we, the audience, are the Eye.

Like I dunno if that's intentional or not but it seems to line up. Jon needs to keep supplying us with statements to keep us listening. And while we're not omniscient like the Eye is supposed to be, we're basically always watching. Which I guess, would make the writers The Web. Controlling the narrative, pushing and compelling the characters this way and that. It's a rather elegant bit of meta story.

Also, and more substantially, a) he didn't go out of his way to betray the city, he was taken prisoner and threatened into it, b) he had an incredibly painful history with Gondolin involving both his parents' violent deaths happening like ten minutes after he arrived there, and he was legally not allowed to leave, and c) he was SO YOUNG (only 180! that's hardly anything for an elf!) and he is SO ANGSTY and INTERESTINGLY GOTH and SELF-HATING and I LOVE him. The attempted murder was, admittedly, not great though. But he didn't even SUCCEED like c'mon he just got homoerotically yeeted from a cliff about it. In conclusion: maeglin did nothing wrong except all the things he did wrong, and the version in which he's most openly evil is also the one where both the narrative and the other elves are racist to him so like they had it coming"
