Ways to get around Sloan’s death in post-canon fics:
Sloan clones (either he’s always been one or he now has one)
Julian put him in stasis after, managed to repair his brain damage and revived him; Sloan then escaped/was let go
AU: Julian found and deactivated the termination device before Sloan could use it
AU: Sloan’s device was faulty and didn’t activate
AU: another agent was sent instead and met the same fate (Sloan almost went and is salty about it though)
Wildcard: everything in the episode happened exactly the same and no explanation for how/why Sloan isn’t still dead is given
#im trying to come up with ideas that keep their hardhitting choices and moments intact#for example: if julian just found the cure on his own then it wouldn't force him to make the choice of using mindprobes#or if sloan chose not to use his termination implant then it takes away a critical aspect of his character#feel free to add!

Plotbunnies aka "making the most of Viktors new ability"
Warwick/Viktor, Viktor/Silco: So my first plot bunny just Vander's point of view on the whole Viktor mindprobing him, being charmed by Viktor's goodness and wrestling with his own shame over his past or his urges.
Viktor/Silco, Vander/Silco: Second was Viktor digging deeper into Vander's mind and finding the darker more uncensored parts. Viktor "meeting" Silco in Vander's mind. Maybe Viktor flirting with young!Silco in the last Drop within Vander's mind palace. (maybe with a dash of Viktor wondering what Vander wants to tell him about Silco, if mind!Silco is so flirty).
Viktor/Silco, Viktor/Jinx: Spinning off from that: okay what other ways could Viktor have to encounter Silco? Maybe after seeing Silco in Vander's mind he wants another view and sees a different view on Silco in Jinx's mind?
Viktor/Jinx, Sisters: But then I decided Viktor wouldn't heal Jinx against her will. So next idea: Viktor offers to heal Jinx because he senses much pain but also much power in her. Jinx imo would say no. But still, lots of interesting ideas about it. Like would Vi get tempted to try and convince Jinx? Maybe the sisters debating whether they should let Viktor try to cure Isha's muteness?
Viktor/Jinx: Spinning off from that, story about Viktor wondering why The Arcane keeps urging him to try and heal Jinx. (imo Jinx has a special relationship with Hextech AND she's all shimmered up, so an "I want to suck everything in" Hexcore entity thingie would have double the reason to consume her.
Viktor/Silco + Singed: Another interesting "Viktor sees many different perpectives on Silco" point of view (on top of Vander and Jinx) would be Singed. But again, this would fall into Viktor wouldn't heal people against their will and Singed wouldn't say yes. But still, might be another interesting "temptation" type scene if Viktor would offer Singed to heal him over the pain of losing his daughter and the scars on his face. (I think Singed wouldn't say yes because I think in a weird way Singed is actually somewhat happy with his life and maybe like Silco about the The Betrayal thinks his daughter being his driving force is actually a good thing. That said, he might ask Viktor to heal Orianna instead and watch closely what that does).
Viktor/Silco + Singed. Wait, maybe Singed wants Viktor to heal Orianna, but he wants Viktor to guinea pig try it out on Silco instead?
spooky!Viktor + pairing of your choice: a more fucked up, unfeeling machine herald Viktor doesn't have this rule about not healing people against their wll anymore. So he just heals and mind invades people left and right, whether as part of a battle to take them over or almost accidentally by brushing against them. In that process he then sees the people and memories these people love the most (in my head this comes up mostly for the people who are resisting but I could do with Viktor just knowing all the loves and wants of everyone he has healed), but because he's unfeeling now, they don't mean anything to him, he's just neutrally cataloguing them. This could be done for any pairing of your choice, CaitVi (ie Viktor being at the most surprised about how much pain Cait is in about Vi), MelJay, JayVik (ie Viktor seeing how Jayce saw him and the moment Jayce fell in love with him), etc etc.
Porny VanderxSilcoxViktor (throw in Felicia if you feel like it): Viktor wandering through Vander's mind runs into a memory of Vander and Silco having sex (if you don't like, do Vander and Felicia or Vander/Silco/Felicia threesome) and because he's in Vander's mind he expreriences it from Vander's point of view and you can bring in that whole bit about how it is unfamiliar, that Viktor has never been in a certain position because of his leg. [the explanation here would be that with his normal healings, Viktor doesn't typically have to probe that deep, so he doesn't usually run into this problem]
Ekko&Viktor or maybe Timebomb: I think Ekko would be like Jinx and would never want Viktor to heal him no matter how unhappy he is. I think he'd be distrustful like Jinx (if there is a temptation then maybe one to ask Viktor whether he can heal the tree). So maybe a version where Ekko never went on his trip to Piltover and he is super weirded out by this new camp and he either teams up with Jinx to spy on it or he seeks it out to talk to Viktor and try to figure out whether Viktor is a good guy or a bad guy.

Order of the Black Sun analysis
As always constructive feedback is welcome.
"Alan Moore's back-up strips were an obvious influence on both Marc Platt's view of ye olde Gallifrey and my view of its future (Alien Bodies shares 95% of its .D.N.A. with its closest relative, 4-D War", Lawrence Miles.
Timeline 10,000,000.B.T.W.: The Anchoring. The Order of the Black Sun hired mercenary Fenris fails in his mission to prevent the Timelords from developing physical timetravel but does unintentionally succeed in sending and stranding Omega to the antimatter universe, his timetravel belt's directional control device is taken by Rassilon to be reverse engineeered. Rassilon tricks him him to banishing himself The Zone of No Return as punishment. (.D.W.M.: Stardeath).
9,999,980.B.T.W.: The Timelords retrieve Fenris from The Zone of No Return in order to mindprobe him to learn what they can about their current enemy, discovering only that they are from 30,000 years into the future when a squad Order of the Black Sun operatives who kill Fenris and the mindprobe operator aswell as injuring several others before phasing away. The conflict's nature as a time war is acknowledged. (.D.W.M.: 4D War).
9,999,970.B.T.W.: The Timelords enter into the delicate multi day Desraulturanium trade negeogiations with the Sontarans and to their surprise The Order of the Black Sun. However the Order's representatives are not hostile and they devise a successful joint bid. However the Sontarans disrupt the declaration by mind controling one of the Special Executive into assassinating the Order Elder in front of everyone. This maybe the incident which gets the Order to declare war.
At somepoint soon after 151 .B.T.W.: After their self exile from Gallifrey 1 and reorganisation, Faction Paradox continued their lesser species interference but in the form of creating secret groups telling them, "all the nastiest secrets of the Timelords". One of these groups is the, "Cult of the Black Sun" it's native timeframe is unknown.
30000's: The Order of the Black Sun attack squad's apparent native timeframe.
Somepoint: The First Great Time War is brought to a peaceful conclusion with The Order of the Black Sun somehow realising they had caused the war due to a mistaken assumption and first revenge strike.
10639.5 Rassilon era: While the Eighth Doctor's body healed his mind resided in the Matrix meeting the High Evolutionaries which included the Order member Demoiselle Drin who describes that the conflict as, "ought never to have happened". (.D.W.M.: The Final Chapter).
Notes The Cult/Order is the first Timelord enemy to knowingly use black sun imagery. Whether it's a coincidence like some others or intentional on the Faction's behalf is unknown, (though it must of known about the conflict as it happened before House Paradox was founded). The Order is from the 30000's yet is seen and treated as a respectable Galactic power in the decades after the anchoring. The Order's first/revenge strike against Gallifrey utilising Fenris is perhaps the Faction's largest and only real success agains the Timelords as it has embedded a bootstrap paradox into the Timelord's timetravel development. While it could have been planned the lack of any overt Faction presence or signature suggests otherwise. The First Great Time War is implied to have ended peacefully with the recognition it should/would never have happed to begin with in contrast to The Third & Last Great Time War against the Daleks. An Order member's presence as a High Evolutionary suprises the Eighth Doctor suggesting it wasn't part of the public or recorded peace pomp and circumstance. From the dialogue her actual placement seems recent but the fact she was considered at all says alot. A member in waiting? A secondary tier member? The Order may have be responsible for the black sun radation that turned the Meep species violent. The lack of any Faction style regalia suggests the contact between the two was limited. The Order is a probable Timelord ally in the Third & Last Great Time War.

1 - My favorite fic of yours - Push Me Till I Break. 6 - Something I remember vividly from reading one of your fics - the concept in Growth of Julian getting the Romulan mindprobes that he uses on Sloan from Garak. 12 - A fic of yours that i've re-read - some that I know I've reread A LOT are Push Me Till I Break, Molten, An Influx of Bashirs, and Truth or Dare <3
<3<3<3 THANK YOU for this ask because I was having a real imposter syndrom time Saturday and I needed the validation.

You know, at first I thought this episode was stinker — it seemed like it was avoiding a real discussion of the societal impact of mindwiping and brainwashing someone in exchange for a "wouldn't it be fucked up" kind of thing — but the twist at the end, that even that horror can be seen as "getting off lightly" by families of the victims out for blood, that a focus on retribution over rehabilitation can-
wait, never mind, they're doing sci-fi "we have to violate this creeps civil liberties to catch the bad guy" shit, congratulations cancelled.
Psi Corps is a massive fascist organization but "you cannot force someone to accept a mind probe" is like one of the few good rules they enforce and you look like shit for showing the "good guys" playing technicalities with it. This isn't the first time they've done this but it is the most blatently like police violence they've done and unlike with the Shadows guy they don't even take a stab at calling it out.
"let me invade your mind or I'll fry every synapse you've got"-sentences said by the good guys running a secret underground Rangers of Light.
Also, are there not like. mindprobe warrants? The guy has outright admitted to committing a crime on a human station against a human. It can't be that you can just do telepathy crimes against humans just because as an alien you're not under Psi Corps rules, right? And they've shown using telepaths before to involuntarily but legally read someone's mind, they should be able to go to a judge with probable cause.

That's such a 90's pillow on their couch
it's my favourite pillow in all of B5 :D It's so out of place and LOUD even in Londo's cluttered and overdecorated apartment
I snortlaughed at that mindprobe, I always do. What can I say, I'm easily amused.
I think if I were a criminally minded bug or otherwise shaped individual and saw that the newest and greenest race in the sector was opening a space station as a place of commerce and diplomatic relations with all the other races welcome, I would fly there at the highest possible speed.
I arrive there and the ambassadors of the three major powers are all shady as hell. And I congratulate myself to my excellent instincts. With Londo and G'Kar on board, who will look too closely at me!
Londo IS a romantic at heart. Sadly, the Centauri don't have much use for it (they do have some but it's all caged by rules and obligations). It's his tragedy, in many ways.
Babylon 5 rewatch, S1 E3: Born to the Purple
Oh lol the TV-safe strip club
Yeah just take the bottle G'Kar
Lando is the first person in the series to canonically get laid (and wait till you learn later in the series what he's using!)
VIR on his switch in a meeting
"What do you want, you moon-faced assassin of joy???"--This is a line that has lived in my head for I guess 30 years now. Sometimes I think it when my alarm goes off
G'Kar on Vir's switch at the meeting
Don't worry the probe goes in your mind
Starlaces spotted! That would be a fun item to recreate actually
I mean, it's surely to simplify things for the actors, but Adira and Lando have such different accents that it makes me think, "oh, I wonder what that means socially/regionally for each of them"
Lando really is a Romantic at heart, I suppose
Oh, it's Ivanova
That's such a 90's pillow on their couch
As a kid I looked at the data crystals and was like "that's cool but inconvenient because you can't label it like a tape or floppy disk" and then I ended up with several unlabeled flash drives and those aren't even aesthetic
I hope Vir was in that cheery mood on purpose *at* Lando
We're going to the MALL to commit INTERPLANETARY CRIME
VIR YOU'RE BEING PROMOTED
"Don't give away the homeworld." --another line that stuck with me
Piss off Drakis
I forget what happened to KoDath, because NaToth became G'Kar's attache later
How did the station develop a criminal underworld so quickly
The Shady Bug again! You build a bug, you use a bug
Lando I love your cloak but it really doesn't fit with the vibe
In a way...it was really lucky for Ivanova to be able to do that, with her so far away.
Mmmm marbles (he did just put what looked like a marble in his drink right?)
Background people like "damn was that the ambassador kicking a guy?"
Oh Lando...

like does the fam even know about how the krang probed raph’s actual mind (and even made him see terrible terrible things if you include the deleted animatics)? the full scope and extent of all the horrific violations he had piled on? or is their knowledge just up to knowing that he was captured and mutated and controlled (which was what they all broke away from before the big final fight)?
#rottmnt#rottmnt movie#rottmnt spoilers#rottmnt raph#i mean how do you even tell your family about that on one hand but otoh my son needs hugs#and ill be honest its wild to me how little fandom seems to be registering or talking about it#like a lot of people fully sweeping raph's sincerely horrific trauma under the rug#he went through SO many different levels of violation in this movie like#mentally and emotionally by getting mindprobed and puppeted and that 'thinks he escapes only to find his whole family zombified' etc#and physically! his autonomy was completely overridden! he was forcibly mutated into a mindless krang zombie thing! they had him INCUBATING#me like please someone gently pap his head and wrap him in 80 blankets actually jfc

Happy nostalgic if awkward memory about how adults on the internet can be good to the young ones: When I was in middle school (1998-2001), I was super active on the Sci-Fi Channel website and forum. They had a trivia game call MindProbe. They had daily games of general science fiction trivia, and a weekly topical game written by guest authors. I was the youngest ever MindProbe game author, and I received my first ever paycheck at the age of 13, $77 from the Sci-Fi Channel to make a series of questions on Greek mythology. The player base regulars were present on Yahoo Groups, and a lot of them offered me the generic “well done/good game” after it was played.

Probably my least favorite ant* spiel, after the “abuse” rhetoric, would be the bizarre opinion that Reylo is somehow ant* feminist?
Well, if you wanna get technical with it, aren't the ant*s the ant* feminist ones, since you clearly don't view Rey as Kylo’s equal?
#mm#just saying#since all their points circle back around to Kylo throwing Rey into a tree and mindprobing her#smh#🐜 🐜 life#Reylo

hank, beast, that is, drives janet home, and is still sort of put out by getting insulted by steve & tony, clearly trying to deflect from inner troubles being a blue monkey man with humour. also talks abt how lonely he is & how lucky hank pym is, which is funny, given the man just had a massive psychosis-induced breakdown & is now getting mindprobed painfully by the avengers, but sure, hot wife.
