anyways i agree that transids can most definitely be used in harmful ways!!

in fact, i am quite conscious of the possibility for transids to be harmful, and despite being quite a self destructive person i feel this strange sense of responsibility for my transids to not be detrimental to my wellbeing XD, so i put thought into what transids i identify as and how i go about it

i would love love more discussion of this within the community though!!! (probably need to get off my ass and start it myself ;-;)

ELABORATING, in general, i think there's two main ways of dealing with thought/feeling based problems. there's getting rid of the problem, or working with it and turning it into something positive. (both of those can be the better one, depending on the situation.) transids are GREAT for the second option! if there's thoughts/feelings that you're realistically not gonna get rid of, i find transids to be an excellent coping mechanism. the perspective change you mentioned can be very, very helpful! however, like you said, they can sometimes reinforce negative thoughts/feelings that could have instead been stopped, preventing people from healing.

so yeah, that should be something to take under account before identifying with certain transids. ask oneself it'll be healthy or unhealthy before committing, ya know? and keep in mind that one can always stop identifying as it at any point

also regarding your last paragraph, that's kind of what i find so interesting about transids!! they're so broad and while some transids are very transid specific experiences, there's also ones that cover a wide range of 'normal' experiences. They're basically a framework for viewing yourself through if you get deep enough into them- they're a fascinating method of interpreting one's experiences. (i need to make a post abt this + my three tier model of identity lol)

people identifying as transID aren't doing this to mock your experiences. they're doing this BECAUSE THEY FEEL THAT WAY, and they have the right to talk about their experiences

briefly mentioned this before but because I loooove the aesthetic so much I think at least one important muse confrontation should happen in the tricksters city, specifically in the amusement park. make it like a fuckign scooby door episode everything is all abandoned and run down but as the wards are walking down a boardwalk or something all the lights flicker on and some distorted fuckign. carnival music starts playing and they find muse sitting in like. the rebar scaffolding or whatever in the ferris wheel. just like grinning chin in hands kicking his feet watching them. this image is so clear in my mind. some creep shit !!!! also its like when they first go to the spirit world to get tide back from.mal and end up in the amusement park. except ashe isn't with them this time

this is so fucking good though yeahhh.... i love creepy carnival shit so much. he trickster probably Knows it's very over the top and horror movie creepy and just a little absurd. he's so fucking fun 2 think abt since he's literally always doing shit simply because it is funny to him. we can swing a trickster justification for anything probably. i bet he fucking saw traps people!! anyway. ashe isn't with them this time. except..... well. he kind of is. :(

I HAVE ALSO BEEN THINKING ABT DOWNTIME. FREQUENTLY. i guess. the answer to this is he lives however the trickster&co does. the image of him coming back in his fancy intricate little outfits to some disgusting nasty bloody industrial warehouse where they're posted up & always being this very jarring contrast to the gore and violence is really good. the image of him having a perfect doll bedroom and going through a fancy little routine half the nights when the trickster is in a good mood or feeling it & just. getting thrown on the bed & the door locked to pass out for a couple hours whenever he forgets or is busy is also really good. literally anything we do to muse makes me feel some kind of way man. i also have had the extremely vivid image of the trickster braiding his hair & chatting about all kinds of horrific things excited sleepover style to muse who is just. Visibly Not There in my head for so long. not even like he has to touch him, he could be making him do all these things for himself! he's literally controlling him! he just does it for fun!!!

anyway i think post-muse ashe should get to freak out very badly in a multitude of ways whenever anybody touches his hair. like i think he's touch-adverse in general (& miserable about it because he's also so touchstarved & his brain simply whites out in distress anytime anyone touches him because. literally the only person doing that was the trickster!!!!) but i think specifically his hair being messed with is a bad trigger for him. makes him freeze up n go nonverbal for hours. dakota knows that he's jumpy about touch but he still wants to do something for him & before the everything he loved them playing with his hair (its so long!! wibby & dakota think its so pretty!! virion's the only one who knows how to braid it because of his mom!! ashe melts into a puddle over it every time because nobody's ever done that for him before!) so he goes to just run fingers through it & ashe just. fullbody locks up and goes weird and still and silent & doesn't protest or fight back when dakota shakes his shoulder or smth and his eyes are distant and sort of dark and empty like virion's were most of the time when they first met him... maybe he wants to cut it a little bit just because he hates that it's been covered in The Ooze and he can't do anything with it without thinking about how the trickster would do the same thing but also he hates the idea of getting rid of the one thing abt himself that he really likes & is a little connection with both of his parents because of the trickster also, when he's already taken so much from him. (it does have to get gross and tangled and matted because he refuses to put it back or do anything to it for a while though. maybe virion helps him sort it out & it's slow and painstaking and miserable for both of them and they both feel better at the end of it.)

INTRODUCING christopher "kit" warren an original character based in the dc comics universe. he is portrayed by jordan gonzalez.

christopher "kit" warren is the civilian identity of the vigilante known as PORTAL, a twenty-six year old meta-human with the ability to warp or teleport short distances (safely). outside of hero work, he's an independent video game developer and graphic designer, though the latter job is more for bringing in a semi steady flow of income rather than a job he does for pleasure. ideally, he'd love to have more time to work on games but he knows that that's not feasible at this point; both for the lack of income and because of his commitment to protect his community. being a hero comes first to him.

kit is originally from star city but moved away in his early twenties. his birth parents died when he was just a baby, his godfather, cole carpenter, took him in and raised him. his home life was fairly chill, he was well taken care of and never went without necessities but it was incredibly clear that cole wasn't prepared to raise a child. he still had growing up to do when he took kit in, since he was only in his early twenties and still hadn't even decided what he wanted to do in life. and while cole did his best, he was more of an older brother figure rather than the parental figure that kit needed.

that being said kit wouldn't change a single thing. he loves cole so much. that's his only real family. plus, there were perks to growing up with a young parent — rules tended to be lax, he had an easier time getting his way if he needed, and, once he was older, he could have fun spending time with his godfather doing things that they'd both enjoy. (one thing they would do together regularly was training at the gym where cole works. it started off as easy stuff, where kit was trying to mirror what cole was doing and gradually became more serious and branched off into kit begging cole to let him seriously train to become a fighter like he was. cole caved fairly fast.)

growing up he, like so many other children, loved superheroes. he'd play pretend with the other kids in his neighborhood and they'd all have their own hero identity (no one ever volunteered to be the villain, it was always more fun to be the good guys because they got all the perks). if anyone asked him during that time, he would've proudly told them that he wanted to be a hero when he grew up, he wanted to save people just like the heroes on the news. it wouldn't be until he was a little older that he'd realise his childish daydream could be reality. (his meta abilities would first manifest when he was around nine or ten, thus paving the way for his eventual decision to become a hero.)

being a meta was only a shock to kit himself, his godfather knew there was a chance he'd be one since both his parents were. the only thing he wouldn't have been able to predict was kit's abilities, which were nothing like his parents'. having a superpower was cool as hell to kit but it was terrible for cole; he now had to wrangle a superpowered child, who wasn't easily convinced that he shouldn't show off his power, and who was capable of evading him without putting much effort into it.

shortly after his abilities first manifested, kit came out to his godfather which caused cole to become more protective of him. he enrolled kit into self defense classes, alongside the training he was already doing with kit, to make sure that kit was able to defend himself when he was on his own. he wasn't about to lose his kid because some asshole didn't approve of his identity.

cole had no way of knowing that kit was going to use those skills when he would sneak out at night, taking his first steps as a hero in his neighborhood. he should've expected it, he really should've, given how serious kit was about becoming a hero but it still nearly gave him a heart attack when he found out. not even because kit told him, no he saw something, when he was reading the news, about a new meta hero that popped up in star city... who appeared to be pretty young (there was questions about how safe it is for a kid to be fighting crime)... and who could seemingly teleport.... and he didn't have to be a genius to figure out that that was HIS idiot teenage wannabe hero. needless to say kit was grounded for a couple weeks after cole found out and they had to have a long discussion about safety and why he shouldn't keep going out, even though cole knew that it wouldn't stop kit from going out. unfortunately.

as he got older he got cockier. he'd investigate riskier cases, he'd patrol outside of his neighborhood, and he stopped trying to stay under the radar of other heroes and vigilantes that happened to be in star city.

at twenty-six years old he's a fairly well established vigilante (& if the whole no metas in gotham fanon rule thing exists, than he's pretty regularly breaking that rule because? he doesn't give a shit about what batman says. he can't stop him.)

Alrighty, here it is. The 'Fuck Around, Find Out Scale'. It places the muses based on how much the muse tends to "fuck around" with others, and how quickly someone else would "find out", if they fucked with that muse. Some of these were a lot harder to place than I thought, and most of them ended up moving around at least a little bit. There's also some where it would heavily depend on the situation, but that's another thing entirely.

This would have been a tag rant because of this post but I could feel it growing so here we go.

No one has higher expectations of Dick Grayson than Dick Grayson. There is this constant drive and need to be perfect that is always pushing him, and it doesn’t come from anyone else but himself and his need to do everything and be everything for the people he cares about. And it’s not out of fear that he’ll be pushed aside or deemed unworthy or otherwise cast off; it’s out of fear that the people he loves won’t know how much he cares for them. That he won’t be able to help them when they need it.

Because of this, he takes failure incredibly hard. He tries to hide it, will absolutely pick himself up and dust himself off and keep pushing through, but every time he fails it hits him like a truck. Sometimes it’s a pickup, sometimes it’s a semi, but it’s always a truck. And because no one is perfect and he can’t be everything for everyone 100% of the time, he always slips up.

This is a large part of why hearing Bruce – or anyone he respects, but Bruce especially – say he’s proud of him will always have a huge effect on Dick. He knows how good he is, how much he’s done and accomplished, how far he’s come since his first days as Robin, or even those first solo days as Nightwing, but hearing any kind of pride or respect come from the man who became his second father will never not make Dick emotional to some degree.

He knows he needs boundaries, knows he needs to take care of himself, but for Dick his family will always come first. He knows he’s important, knows he’s valued and loved and cared for, knows that he’s not any less important than anyone else, but that’s not going to stop him sacrificing a night’s sleep to talk a hyper-vigilant Jason down from a PTSD attack or offer the last hot dog in the fridge to a Tim who’s decided nothing else is remotely palatable.

The trouble comes when it’s his family competing for his attention. He’s only human. He can’t be everywhere all at once, no matter how much he wants to be. And every time he has to break a promise to one brother because something came up with another it breaks his goddamned heart because the one thing Dick cannot stand is the idea that someone in his family is hurting because of him. When he knows he has only himself to blame, that pain and guilt gets exponentially worse.
