Good morning Lily I am dying to know your thoughts on Persephone’s family life. Does she have any siblings? What is her relationship with her father like? I don’t remember if a mother is ever mentioned in canon (lol I need to reread tbosas) but do you have thoughts on her?

omg hello thank you so much for giving me a little chance to ramble about my girl <3

i headcanon that it’s just persephone and nero! i think persephone’s mother died of starvation a little before nero caved and went the cannibalism route.

i really go back and forth on how i view her relationship with nero- i talk a little bit about that here! but i lean towards them having a somewhat strained relationship due to the guilt they both feel. nero feels guilty that it had to resort to that (and because he didn’t save his wife) and persephone feels guilty that he was in that position and had to do that. i think part of her also feels grateful towards him for going to such extreme lengths to save her and that puts even more pressure on her to be the perfect capitol daughter.

i don’t think nero ever remarries- he struggles too much with the trauma of everything to open up like that to someone. he throws himself into his work to ensure that persephone never has to go through that again. he also puts a lot of pressure on her to find a husband- but a lot of that comes from him wanting to make sure that persephone never suffers again.

writing this all out…i’m realizing that i actually think the cannibal is a decent, but distant father. he is so far from perfect- but i think he does love persephone and he does try. it’s just a very difficult situation.

i don’t see her having any siblings! but i think her friends siblings adore her and see her as an older sister figure (festus’s brother love her!).

Isabelle’s first time complaining about Leona to Adeline (girlhood moment):

“Can you imagine? I will have to marry that guy.” Isabelle huffs clenching her fists, as the blonde friend watched the scene with a curious look. “Me! The wife of that… Borish, brainless prince!”

“Is he that bad?” The simple question that triggered the girl with a deadly stare to Adeline that spoke for itself. Adeline’s eyes winded in shock as she ate her words up. “Oh-“

Isabelle tensed body gives up as she throws herself in her bed dramatically with a deep sigh. “I am sorry, Delih. He actually got into my nerves.”

“I can’t really judge you, I mean, is not exactly what you were dreaming for… As a kid you always read those fairytales books, where the girl would get together with the prince for love! And now… This happens.”

Adeline sits on Isabelle’s bed placing a gentle hand on her friends shoulder trying to comfort her.

“It wasn’t about love, I wanted adventure in the great wide somewhere! I wanted more than I can bare.” Isabelle’s sits down hugging her knees. “This will be just a poorly written emotional roller coaster.” Adeline has sympathy in her eyes for her friend, and the open arms made Isabelle in a save space away from judgement. “I don’t want to disappoint my father, neither my people…”

“And you won’t. I know it.” Adeline proudly remarks, with a bright smile and two hands in both of Isabelle’s shoulders.

“I am glad I have someone to understand it like you, Delih.”

She smiles to her friend feeling a little relieved. Which it didn’t fail to make Adeline smile more than before. “Of course I would try to help you, Isa. Not just you are my best friend, but this marriage will bring me some good gossip, you know?”

The jokingly mannerism and sarcastic tone made Isabelle loudly laugh at the silly comment. “Oh, Adeline. You are terrible.”

“Not as terrible as Isabelle Kingscholar would sound-“ A pillow hitted Adeline’s head muffling her from saying more, but it was still easy to hear the “Madame Kingsholar~” in a teasing manner from the blonde.

“Hey! At least I wasn’t the one who recently discovered the guy she was flirting was the heir of Briar’s Valley throne.” Adeline’s eyes winded. “You take that back.”

“What if I don’t?” Isabelle smirks devilsh at her friend, who attacked her with a pillow. As both laughed throwing pillows at each other.
