Okay guys so I'll make a masterpost to link in the pinned post and then csa meta will be coming soon, then more on the traumatic brain injury in Red Hood: Lost Days + Jason's dissociation (with a complement for the hypoactive delirium ask i got), then we'll make another poll to decide of the order in which we'll discuss other psychopathology elements such as psychopatholgy headcanons, UTH vs current canon Jason (as well as a post about the limits of the concept of personality and what "ooc" means that I forgot to include in this poll, oops), Jaybin/Red Hood with self-harm and the concept of recklessness, a post about Jaybin and conduct disorder (which is gonna be very similar to the post about how Duke illustrated the ASPD diagnosis post, we're beating down on the dsm in that one) and anything else that might come up by then. And then we'll get to the part about what could have been done at what point, list the resources Jason has now, and then once all of that is done we'll do a series called "Congrats! You're Jason's therapist" in which we'll take one version of Jason's character that we've analysed before, one of the issues that feed into the suffering, and see what resources and strategies he can pull to work on that specific issue, with a little poll at the end of posts to make the experience more interactive. And then at the end I'll make a post about how I would approach going forward with addressing Jason's mental illness in comics going forward if we were a comics writer, with the contribution of the incredible @malfiora.

The main goals here are:

1. Have fun analysing his character under a fascinating lense

2. Learn stuff together (feel free to disagree/debate/nuance/complete!!! Whether you're a professional, you do research on that topic, you have experience with the topic... If you wanna share an experience you feel contributes to the discussion but are hesitant to do it on main, don't hesitate to send an anon ask if you want and i'll include it in the conversation! While I love yapping about my interest, this isn't a lecture, having active conversations about it is way more fun!)

3. Resist demonization of mental illness and psychiatric fatalism. It's not over until you're dead, no matter what you've done or what happened to you, and we will get to the happy ending, one way or another.

GOD as much as I wanna talk about the story, I need to do just a little bit more exposition. Want it all to make sense, ya know?

So, assuming people have seen this post and this post, I've got what you're looking for under the cut.

Alright it's time to talk about spirits.

So throw what you know about spirits out the window, because "spirit" in the Essence world refers to the entities that can manipulate elements and energy.

For a bit of hierarchy, there's the first spirit (who's kinda lost to time, but we meet them in Essence), and then 3 different spirits who are dubbed the Creation Spirits: Soros (spirit of darkness), Uradata (spirit of abyss), and Illumi (spirit of light). In the olden times, they came down to the human world and made friends with some humans. As a bit of a token of friendship, some of the humans beared children beacuse of them (consensually!). We'll get to those children later.

After leaving the humans, these spirits got busy, and started making spirits to control elements. There's a lot of them, and we'll touch on them in a second. A few years later, something happened: the spirits and humans found out that the elemental spirits and the human children of the spirits could form a symbiotic bond with one another. These bonds... are just called bonds, but they are still a very common occurrence in the present day.

Anything beyond that delves into Essence lore, and I fear I'll ramble incoherently, so we'll stop there. For a conclusion, the new "terms" and characters I can introduce:

Bond: the link formed between a vessel and a spirit. For shelter and some nutrients from the vessel to the spirit, the spirit would grant the vessel usage of their powers, and if needed, armor and a weapon, whose form is decided by the spirit. There's some nuance to bonds, but I'll save it for another post.

Omega: spirit that controls plasma (limited control, but still pretty powerful). Bonded to Lily

Zephyr: spirit that controls wind. Bonded to Alex

Ravi: spirit that contols fire. Bonded to Percy.

Geoc: spirit that controls earth. Bonded to Enzo.

Vergals: spirit that controls ice. Bonded to Robin.

Final Bug Fact:

The world NEEDS bugs. They keep the soil healthy, pollinate, control pests, and contribute to the worlds' ecosystem. By the end of the century, it is estimated 40% of insect species may go extinct due to habitat loss. Yes, that is very scary. But with even one beetle spared, one caterpillar rescued, and one Hollow Knight comic of all things, things will change. Because I know there's a lot more Dewi's out there than most people realize. I wanted to put here how amazing and sweet everyone has been with this comic. I finished a 75 page comic in 3 MONTHS. I am at a loss for words. That sounds crazy and it IS crazy. But man was it fun. Even on days were I wasn't able to draw due to fatigue or business, I loved working on it from start to finish. And guess what!? This is my first ever FINISHED comic :D I'm so proud of myself. I know there's some things I want to change and the art is wonky in most places...... but I'm content to let it be. What an amazing summer adventure!

I'm hoping to post the full comic on another Comic website. I may or may not edit some of the art ^w^ So I'll let y'all know when I release it.
