Hi im here to tell you why this part of Workin Boys is absolutely fucking amazing

Showstopper, in definition, is an act with a prolonged applause and impressive reaction from the audience enough to interrupt a performance. I really love how they used Show Stopping Number for this scene and it’s the most fitting shit ever. Before being shot, Hidgens was doing the iconic Workin Boys title number, which was also done in Show Stopping Number. And then the moment itself is a showstopper, there's screaming, horror and desperation coming from the audience and even claps coming from (drunk) Linda, a standing ovation.

It's also exactly how it's shown in TGWDLM. When Henry finishes the Workin' Boys bit (before the infected came) he goes directly back to the actual song. “I can't wait to get home to my boys! / A show stopping number / a real show stopper”

And oh god I wish I could explain it deeper but I don't have the words for it. I would also like to mention im so not normal about this, i lov workin boys sm

I watched Damsel last night and oh my god, loved it!!! The visuals and writing kinda brought back those Game of Thrones glory days feels and I love the trope of woman who is wearing nice dress gradually disfigures it as she has to survive and become a bad ass, and the bond with the dragon !!! The themes about the destructive nature of patriarchy and classism !!!

I did have a couple of notes, but these are things that I don't know would've gotten a good answer/resolution within a two hour or so movie run time but I think they're interesting nonetheless;

Like okay, am I the only person who kinda felt bad for Prince Henry in a way? I can't have been the only one. I'm not saying he in any way deserves to 'get the girl' in the end or should have saved her or even have had a different ending, but I sympathized for him a little regardless. He did, of course, participate in his family's ritual sacrifice of at least two girls, but the impression is very much given that he has been taught to do little else than what his mother and kingdom bids him to do. He clearly doesn't want to be part of this in any way, and does of course end up pleading Flora's case (not that this absolves him, he was quick enough to dismiss those other sacrifices when suggesting he wanted to marry Elodie anyway lmaoo) and when he does his mother bitingly calls him 'weak'. I just have to wonder how he was groomed growing up to one day do this, how often he must have been told that it was his 'duty' and 'for the good of the kingdom' and thought he was prepared to be STRONG like his forefathers ('strong' here meaning willing to sacrifice innocent women, of course) but when the time came he wasn't as ready as he thought he'd be or, really, at all. In fact, I'm not really arguing his ending here because I think it's significant that he's consumed in the dragon's flame by the end, the result of his male ancestor's entitlement and violence. I think there's something being said here about how the patriarchy consumes and destroys the men within it, too maybe, like Elodie's father's death. Idk I guess I'm just trying to say I felt bad for him despite everything lmao, which begs the question of what he might have done differently to save himself from the inevitable end? Or if he even could?

I'm a little shocked there wasn't more to the healing glow worms lmao. This is probably the only place in the film I feel like there's a weakness or a hole, because I was thinking that she'd use them to restore the dragon's children to life (I mean, they presumably restored the dragon's EYE so like??? maybe it's possible??) and that would break the curse and restore all the women who died to life as well, because I thought their spirits were being contained in the glow worms!!! I really thought all that was going on! I think it should have been tbh, imagine all those women getting a second chance at life and going back with Elodie and dragon lady to her land or whatever! Maybe a little saccharine and convenient but it's what I wanted lol

Anyway those are my sort of outlier weird thoughts, on the whole it's a very good film and reminds me a lot of films from the 80's-early 00's, it's cool to see a kind of return to that style of unironic fantasy adventure. Highly recommend, 11/10 stars

the way it's usually less (character does this) and more (character does this BECAUSE ____ // character is doing this and FEELING ____) feels like it's trying to give context, to me. but again idk maybe just me

@septiccoffeefreak - "What I'm noticing here is more along the lines of just, how we almost always seem to open with a person. Usually by their actual name(s) too and not just a pronoun. I understand what you mean, Tommy, but I don't personally get that vibe? You could totally be right, of course, I just don't pick up on that. I defenitely notice, though, just how many of these are sentences where the literal first word is a name. the two exceptions to that are the pronoun "they" (which is still a person- or two people actually), and then water.

I guess the dialogue could also be considered an exception, but I don't think it counts since it also directly references us as characters.

and that's not something you necessarily have to do. You could open describing scenery or objects, or with dialogue that DOESN'T have the names of the characters in it- you could open with wind through a blade of grass or a character cursing under their breath or someone's cellphone crashing to the pavement or something. So it's definitely an "us" thing, it's a quirk of our writing style and not just normal writing. I don't know if like, we ALWAYS do this, but I do know that in these ten fics you pulled we do. I wouldn't be surprised if we did it like literally all the time as well, but I'm not going to pretend to know every first line we've ever penned to paper. or...print?? I don't fucking know, here, I'm just analyzing sentences on the internet for a tagging project.

scrambled thoughts about s4 bc I'm losing my goddamned MIND

just finished s4 of Doctor Who. quick question: how the hell do you go on without Rose Tyler? I can't even imagine I literally. what.

like once s3 rolled around I really fuckin realized I was apparently very much watching this show for ROSE and her dynamic with the Doctor, not the Doctor himself or whatever else lmaoo

ONLY Rose has made me bawl my eyes out, let alone even tear up at all. I just can't even fathom being able to connect with any other plot or character like I did with her and her love for the Doctor.

I just ohh for all of s3 most of s4 I just missed her so much??? like Martha and Donna are great (well, I didn't like Martha at first and you can definitely guess why based on all of this but once s4 rolled around she was great!! loved her) but oh my god they were just no Rose Tyler.

plus WOW I really got so attached to her relationships with other people?? like Donna and Martha's families n whatnot made me feel NOTHING whereas I could not get enough of Jackie and adored Mickey (Mickey is family. he is. I don't care if he's her ex or whatever. he's part of the family). Captain Jack Harkness my one true love (btw just sayin I really think Rose and the Doctor should've gotten a hello kiss. maybe not the Doctor he did not deserve one for leaving Jack but Rose did!! hello!!! you gave them "I'm going to go die" kisses give them "hello we're all still alive missed you" kisses!!!). idk if maybe I was just so clocked out of s3-4 that I missed something but I swear those two just had like no really compelling personal relationships outside of the Doctor, and maybe like one specific family member (lookin at you, gramps).

the fact that Rose ended up liking Martha and Donna though??? dfindsnjdj dying dying DYING I love that she would've been friends with them both. they deserved to all sit and gossip about the Doctor like she did with Sarah Jane right in front of his face.

also oh my god no one why why why please PLEASE I'm not used to consuming sad media I try and avoid it as much as possible and this show is just. just. oh my god.

Rose is so close to what she truly wanted. she'll have a life with the Doctor, but not her Doctor and not the life she fought so hard to get back. instead she's still still still stuck in Pete's World, unable to travel across time and space and save the universe with her Doctor (and don't get me wrong, I love the idea of Tentoo, but it just rubs me the wrong way no matter how I try and look at it. it feels like when a character's memories are erased. they're still technically themselves, but something important is missing all the same. and that thing missing is the TARDIS in this case Tentoo is the best thing she could've gotten lol). I feel like I can't even adequately put it into words why her ending makes me as upset as it does I just hope you Get It. I don't think it would've been good for her to not have ANY other solid relationships like she would've had if she'd gone with the Doctor but also oh my god. oh my god.

and the Doctor is once again without his brilliant, fantastic Rose.

I really hope she doesn't come back though unless it's on her own terms, because she missed her friends or smth. I really hope she's able to travel the world and it be enough for her as long as she's got Tentoo by her side. I really, really hope she's happy and fully in love with Tentoo and they are living the BEST life they can.

Anyway: I can see where you're coming from and like I said it has been forever since I played the Answer and I don't /hate/ it. But I guess I always had an issue with Yukari, because she seemed to me needlessly mean to others sometimes? Like she was right and others are wrong so its fine if she can be mean? But that is just what I /remember/. And while yeah, characters are allowed to be mean and not perfect and allways kind, especially female characters, because GOD FORBID women do anything- it also doesn't mean I have to LIKE her. I guess it's because to me Yukari felt like someone who would unironically call someone having fun "cringe", which for me personally is a dealbreaker. But Persona ALWAYS had this issue with having the male bestie be the buttmonkey of jokes, some kind of pervert and dunked on by the other characters and Junpei is still having it the best?? (Yosuke, Ryuji, you boys deserved so so much better).

In any case, I guess I couldnt give her as much leeway or credit because her personality didn't really mesh with me. But now being older I also think that it is BECAUSE of the writing. Persona Games have all extremely low points and extreme high points. The entire first palace is great in persona 5, Persona 4s social links with the Dojima family are really gripping and persona 3 is still one of my faves because it just came at the very right time in my life. (Who would've thought that a game about DEATH as its core theme would SAVE me.) But the writing is not always very consistent and the characters really suffer for it, usually for very stupid reasons like """""humor""""". I guess I am just trying to say that I get what you mean, but Yukari is just not my fave so I guess it is easier for me to lose patience. Like there are characters I'd go to war for in the persona series, so its easier for me to see the GOOD writing aspects, while others might greatly dislike them and therefore have a far easier time seeing the writing from more negative perspectives.

But your analysis has really given me some food for thought. I will definitely try to pay it more attention on a replay!

It always felt like Yukari was pushed as a sort of "main love interest" which always kinda felt off to me when persona games do that. maybe its because i am gay and therefore see myself more representated by same sex couples/queer couples, maybe its because the persona developers believe men and women cant just be friends it always has to be something romantic, maybe its because the romantic writing always seemed forced and reliant on little events like in a romance shoujo manga- idk, but that was also something that rubbed me the wrong way. But that has been issues in P3-P5 throughout. And i feel like p3 got it the worst??? At least in later games you could opt for just a friendship even tho the writing still made it APPARENT THAT THE GIRLS ARE IN LOVE WITH YOU SPECIAL BOY!!! Sorry Yukari, that's not really your fault, thats a systemic fault.

hard agree on the persona series as a whole having a tendency of doing something really good but then!!........ not. sticking the landing at all. theres so much to be said about it god these games are a hot mess on average its funny. as much as i adooore it, p3's pacing was so ass that i got severe tonal whiplash on oct 4. couldnt even begin to grieve cause i was so shocked

side note but i think i’m going to name the evil team “team x” as a call back to barou’s team in first selection HAHAHA i think it’s funny + i’m setting the au in kalos because that was my first pokémon game + we’re basing it on xy/oras lore but kalos fits the vibes of the au better than hoenn for some reason (def changing the order of gyms and whatnot though…like for example i came up with nicknames/taglines for all of the gym leaders based on their canon nicknames so like luna’s the “scion of santalune” the way he’s the scion of real madrid in the show which means santalune is where the seventh gym is for reader and co even though it’s the first gym in the story)

THE AUDIO FITS SO WELL IT’S SICKENING reader and barou are like satosugu on crack because they’re literally FAMILY like that final battle is the culmination of three generations of brothers and sisters loving one another i fear i am sososo obsessed with them…can’t watch barou edits without crying and NOT just because of how hot he is…also thinking that after her houndoom kills barou reader just passes out and she has a dream of when she and barou were kids and had sleepovers and it’s the next morning and he’s waking her up and she tells him she doesn’t want to wake up because she’ll have to leave him once she does and he’s like “yeah but eventually you’ll have to” and then she DOES wake up and for a second she still thinks it’s barou shaking her and asking her to wake up but it turns out its KARASU because he pulled up with his garchomp after nagi told him to check on reader (he’s the only one left with healthy enough pokémon that he can go back and doesn’t need to be escorted to the pokémon center) and apparently her houndoom dragged her over so that she could be next to barou’s corpse because it’s houndoom culture (??? wtf is it called when animals do something…anyways ykwim) to stand vigil over a corpse (hence why her houndoom is standing over barou’s houndoom’s body and howling as well as why houndoom are associated with death) and it knew how much she loved barou so it thought she’d want to do the same for him even though she was knocked out 😞 unfortunately karasu thought she was dead because she was just lying next to the actually dead barou so he was freaking out and that’s when reader realizes what she did and starts crying but this time she’s not alone (unlike when she was fighting barou) because karasu’s there and she realizes that through her search for barou she managed to find a new family and she kinda wonders to herself if barou is the one who sent karasu (i’m imaging karasu and reader specifically have a very ridiculous meeting…like tullia and otoya join the gang in a normal way but karasu and reader have a dumbass coincidental meeting that had a 0.01% chance of occurring) to look after her when he couldn’t anymore 😩

Chapter 7 - My Dinner Goes Up in Smoke

Theme of the day: Home

I guess a subtheme for this would be “belonging”: where do the characters feel like the belong? Where do they consider home to be? Where do they not feel at home? Maybe this theme was a little early to do, but there are a few moments where it turns up both directly and in between the lines.

Camp Half-Blood is the most self-explanatory place for this theme. Demigods struggle to survive and fit in in the regular world and CHB is the only place where they can be safe and be themselves. I also can’t believe it took this long for anyone to tell Percy that he’s a demigod lmao. Idk what anyone expected by keeping this fact from him and then saying you belong here. Just seems like the start of a horror movie ahaha. Though it was sweet how once Percy had dinner with everyone and participated in the campfire and singalong that he felt like he was part of the campers. No one treated him like a spectacle and for the first time in his life Percy didn’t feel like an oddball or outsider, he felt like he was home.

The whole claiming and cabin system at CHB is so fascinating to analyze, especially since it’s an important point of interest as the books progress. A kid arrives at camp, and if they know who their godly parent is, they get sent to the corresponding cabin. If they don’t know, they’re put in Hermes’s cabin until they’re claimed, if they’re claimed at all. But if they do get claimed, and the godly parent isn’t an Olympian, they still have to stay at the Hermes cabin. The best case scenario would be that first option where you can find a home at your cabin with your siblings. But as we see with Percy’s conversations with Annabeth and Luke, being claimed doesn’t equate like.... parental love. So no matter what, the demigods don’t necessarily feel wanted. The system just breeds bitterness and hate.

And that also doesn’t consider whether a demigod’s mortal parent is a good parent or not. If they’re lucky, their parent is someone like Sally Jackson who unconditionally loves their child. But so often we come across demigods who don’t have that, like Annabeth who ran away from home for that very reason.

I know that Riordan hadn’t created Camp Jupiter at this point, but it’s interesting how it’s by far more structured and larger than CBH is. Like CBH is more like an actual camp, something temporary, so you don’t often have Greek demigods that live to adulthood since they’re likely to die off when they leave. Whereas CJ is more like a city and permanent home.

This whole idea of belonging and home in relation to CHB and the gods is part of the reason of Luke’s descent to being anti-Olympian I think. Being part of the Hermes cabin, he’s seen firsthand what the CHB system does to a demigod emotionally. He becomes the representation of all the bitterness and hate the demigods feel, but at the same time he’s also so caring and understanding (all of that just gets twisted from Kronos’s influence though). I keep mentioning how much Percy is thrust into this new world without any true explanation or proper orientation (feels like most jobs I’ve had lmaoo), but then Luke is the only one so far that has really understood what Percy is feeling coming to camp for the first time. He sits down with Percy and actually talks to him, asks him how he’s doing, and answers his questions without that air of “I’m hiding things from you” like Chiron or seeming condescending like Annabeth. Like Luke is genuinely looking out for Percy and his wellbeing. But despite all this, I also think that someone like Luke was probably the most likely one to betray the camp because of how caring he is and because he’s seen so much, not only in the Hermes cabin but also prior to his arrival at camp. Also the whole fiasco of his quest 😬

It’s been so long since I’ve read these books that I can’t remember if Annabeth had inklings of Poseidon being Percy’s father or not. Considering the rumors of Percy being “Big Three material” and the whole bathroom incident, it wouldn’t be surprising if Annabeth had suspicions, which would explain why she suggested he go to the Oracle. She’s already aware that one of the Big Three broke their pact, so who’s to say another also did too? It’s kinda fun finding all the little hints as to who Percy’s godly parent is though. Besides the times he full on controls water, there’s small moments like him just knowing that the horn for dinnertime was a conch shell, or him being drawn towards the ocean or things that recall the ocean. Like obviously Percy loves Montauk because it’s a place where it can be just him and his mom, but I think it also has to do with being a child of Poseidon. He’s just hardwired to love beaches and whatnot lol. I wonder if Percy’s memory of his father’s smile is from a dream maybe or that general feeling he gets when he’s by the ocean.

Why were the naiads the tipping point for Percy 😂 Was it just the proverbial straw in an overwhelming day or is it like “I can take in a lot but I draw the line at naiads” ahaha

He has a pc setup, but I think he might also have a console or two. He would be one of the lucky bastards who got a ps5 for retail price and he’s so lowkey about it even though it’s kind of a big flex (see, now, if Connie or Eren had it they wouldn’t fucking shutup about it ever bye). 

He keeps the ps5 in his living room tho, and honestly uses it very casually. It’s really more for when you wanna play games with him, or for when his friends come over and wanna do more multiplayer stuff together. Or for things like Just Dance. 

He would probably also have a Switch but got it as a birthday present or something; he didn’t want to buy it himself/have too many consoles, but since he has it, he does use it (and he really likes it)! Lowkey he takes it with him to some of his more boring lectures and he’s in the back of class playing Kirby lmaooo

His pc setup would probably be all white with a lot of neutral/grey tones, and maybe blue? or like sage green as his accent color, idk I feel like those suit him. His computer case and monitor and desk would be white, but his keyboard/keycaps could be green/blue and the mat for his mouse and stuff. His headphones, too. 

Speaking of which, I think he would have one of those keyboards with the round caps that kinda give typewriter-ish vibes, but are still very clicky and satisfying to type on. He uses his setup for games, but also for work lmaoo so it’s pretty practical. 

I think he would also have pretty lights around his setup. Not the typical rgb/led ones, but maybe those hexagon (?) tile things, or just a simple string of, like, Christmas lights he found at target or something. He always has the lights on if it’s dark out; he doesn’t like the only light source to be from his screens because he thinks it’s too harsh and it hurts his eyes. Baby. 

He has like a fake laptop next to his desk for his cat to play with so that it doesn’t jump on his desk when he’s gaming or doing work.

When he plays games, it’s usually with his friends esp if they’re multiplayer. He doesn’t like gaming with random people, it makes him nervous. Sometimes even his friends can be too much for him after a while lmaooo 

He gets really excited if you wanna play games with him. He doesn’t think he’s the best gamer in the world, but he’s good enough to show you the basics and somehow it feels easier when you’re playing with him. 

Has a thing against first-person shooter games, but he’s a little too good at them. He doesn’t like them because they kind of make him dizzy after a while and because some of them are a bit violent yet... he’s scary accurate at them. Him, Mikasa, and Levi... a little too good at games like that despite never playing them... is there something you guys wanna share with the class...

He complains that you’re “distracting” him when you sit on his lap when he’s at his computer, but it’s highkey one of his favorite things. Even if he’s actually doing work, and not gaming, he kinda sorta really likes that you would just wanna sit in his lap and take a nap. He pokes fun at your for it after tho, let that be known. 

Very protective about food and drinks near his computer. And by protective, I mean they’re not allowed with a six foot radius. Except water, but even then it must be bottled. Food/drinks and technology don’t mix. Not to mention it’s all white, he’s not taking any chances. And he cleans his desk religiously. 

He has glasses he’s supposed to wear when he’s looking at screens for too long. He looks very cute in them. He hates being photographed in them. You have gotten away with taken far too many photographs of him in them. 

Sometimes he just sits in his swively chair for fun. Not to game, not to do work. Just to spin around for a bit. He also likes to let you sit down and spin you around for fun. It’s how you have long conversations and make decisions about what to eat for dinner.

Lets you have a profile on his desktop. He also lets you have a villager on his Animal Crossing island and is very bitter if you do not let him do the same, even though you both have your own islands. 

Even if you don’t play with him a lot, he’ll still get you matching headphones. He’s very shy about it. 

If he streams, it’s probably because Eren or Jean stream too and got relatively popular, and then he did by association. He doesn’t mind it. His solo streams are a lot more calm than Eren’s or Jean’s or Connie’s, but people like them anyway. It’s a lot of fun when they all stream together. 

People really like watching him stream on his ac island. His is so pretty (because he spent 6 straight weeks putting it together when he first got the game. No sleep, no other games. Just him collecting recipes like a little worker bee). 

He usually mentions you off-handedly in his streams, and eventually people catch on that you’re his girlfriend. He wouldn’t necessarily ask you to show your face (and he definitely wouldn’t make you if you didn’t want to), but he would mention to you how much people ask about you. 

He... lowkey... kind of likes how much people like you (and likes the comments that tells him he’s lucky or the jokes about if his girlfriend is single). He never responds to them, but deep down... he... has a thing for them. I will not analyze why here, but I will let you take a guess <2 

He lets you use his computer for anything you need to. If you wanna play (with his friends, without him; which is really fucking funny by the way, because Connie probably wouldn’t even notice that you’re on the mic for at least an hour), or do your homework, or just watch videos, or whatever.

His cat sits on his lap or his desk, or at it’s little mock cat-desk sometimes, but on chill days/when he’s playing calm games, sometimes it his just on his shoulder. Takes a little nappy nap. Occasionally licks his cheek.

dean’s death was so anticlimactic and boring considering they built the whole episode around him leaving anyway so what was the reason? i only felt something because the song was sad lmaoo and because dean obvi wasn’t one of my preferred deaths (🙃🙂). i knew vic would be fine so i wasn’t even worried. they also need to stop killing characters. people can move and change professions without dying. this is why all the actors from grey’s whose characters made it out alive will never return.

maya’s demotion lives in my head rent free. i don’t think they came to a decision at all. we just haven’t seen anything about the investigation because her being demoted was never about her. the chief said she should step down and they’ll appoint a new captain while the investigation is going on. so this is the new captain. i say this because it made no sense before but in this episode, it’s clear that man just doesn’t like maya. she can’t even do her job without him undermining her and then the glare as if she wasn’t supposed to call him out on his bullshit. when they get rid of him and make maya chief then what 😬

jack’s actor needs to do something else with his hands while he talks. it’s so distracting on top of the fact that his voice is annoying. but that clinic with carina & ben sounds good in theory. i need to see it. if it gets carina something to do then by all means i guess.

they had theo/vic mention anniversary but not carina/maya? or did i just not understand what was said at the start of the episode? i know carina made reservations but that could literally be a regular dinner. we wouldn’t know it was one year if theo and them didn’t say it. we wouldn’t know it was one year if we didn’t watch station. but carina & maya’s first scene 😮‍💨 the way maya was still thinking about it later 🥵 that’s what they need every episode. not necessarily that but any kind of domestic scene outside of regular work stuff

I've been thinking; if that were really the case then hisoillu have known each other waaaaaay before the Hunter’s Exam arc (where it alr was insinuated that they’ve worked together or helped each other out beforehand) and my one and only proof? THIS ICONIC LOOK that he served us in Phantom Rouge

bc it has EXTREMELY SIMILAR tones with this outfit of 1999 ver Hisoka

and don't deny it bc Hisoka's (2011) exactly the type to wear stuff like that. and since Togashi hasn't blessed us with a backstory arc yet, anything is possible, lads 🤩🤩

maybe they met during a mission?? that's most likely the only reason illu had to leave the estate. then hisoka sensed him or was alr there by chance or bc he was looking for a new challenge. illu found him annoying and hisoka found him interesting.

im willing to bet hisoka followed him back regardless of illus threats, and got surprised by how strong illu was at the testing gates bc illu could open maybe 5/6 doors at once and it made him schwing if ya knoe what i mean

it'd make sense too, illu would technically still be a minor so like... maybe illu was also why he's into that thing now???? "i know of your tastes quite well" remember??

and maybe hisoka's concept of "I'll wait for the fruit to ripen" was from illu too, bc if all of this was true then he got to see illu grow quite lusciously...

I STRAYED OFF POINT BUT long story short hisokas presence just became too familiar so when he left (idk to fight or smtg) then illus coping mechanism turned to fashion, bc he didn't wanna admit it but he missed hisoka... and hence the pics above^^

Got some news for ya'll and it is really really bad news ( from my perspective at leaSt)

Yes I did told everyone that I'm leaving several times and then I came back because my mother wasn't that serious at that time then she is now

She threatened to throw away my whole phone if I don't delete tumblr and discord because she read from somewhere that tumblr is satanic (ha she doesn't know montero is my fav song and my fav show's main protagonist is satan's daughter lmaoo) and idk what's wrong with discord but she somehow came to know that I talk to the same people on discord and she's.... yk suspicious of who ya'll are, she literally suggested that someone could be a Russian army??? Or like some old man or like horror person like lmao she absolutely talks like a child like I literally even saw some of ya'll's faces 💀-

I still thought I could keep discord but she demanded the lock of my phone to be gone so there's no way since I know the moment I fall asleep, she will check

So the wait could be a one day if I can sneak in and just install it and check in or it could a month or it could be a year or the most possible time will be two years or so

Sorry I’m getting to this so late!

I’ll admit I haven’t studied into the characters as much as some others have, so my possible wisdom may barely scratch the surface

I shall try my best!

(This is a long post. Sorry about that hdjsksk)

Theories

The only plot theory I have mainly surrounds Minato, our MC. (That feels like a Captain Obvious statement but what I mean is that I don’t know how the whole cast will play in jdksksk)

First off, from the trailer and from the character description, we know that Minato had some kind of incident involving water polo, and given that he was shown in a hospital bed, whatever happened was pretty serious.

In the shot in the trailer, he’s blocked by who I assume are his family and friends/old teammates, so we don’t get to see if he’s sporting some visible injury. But whatever it was, he swore to never play water polo again.

But in the next few shots, we see him with his past team, and he’s ripped as hell. Then the next scene shows him standing in front of a mirror, and it seems like he lost a lot of muscle definition.

I have two theories as to what may have happened (and watch both be wrong lmaooo)

1. He broke a bone and needed surgery to fix it, so that’s why we see him waking up in a hospital. (Because most people don’t go to the hospital for broken bones, you know? Unless it was life threatening or impossible to fix without surgery. This is why I have a second theory, but I’ll get there). As a result of his injury, he had to quit the sport. He vowed to never play it again, so I assume this particular incident haunts him.

2. This one may be WAY off and I have a penchant for bringing in angst, so be ready for that. My second theory is that maybe he nearly drowned while playing the sport in his past. Woah Dramatic I Know but it was my first thought since he’s shown in the hospital. Countering the other theory, most people don’t go to the hospital for a broken bone—and I don’t think your whole family and close friends would be there when you come to.

I think whatever it was possibly put him in a coma, whether it’s some serious injury or losing consciousness underwater. Either of those is enough to make someone reluctant to play the sport again, and avoiding it for a long time will surely cause one to lose muscle mass.

Maybe he developed some kind of fear of water? Though if this is the case, it probably gets resolved pretty early into the season, but I have a feeling whatever this incident is will haunt us again when we get towards the final episodes. Bakuten style.

Now, I have another thing to bring up.

Kawakubo Chinu, the one girl in the trailer, knows about Minato’s past.

Either she was there when it happened or she heard about it/learned about it from one of the other characters, possibly Eitarou since he also knows about Minato’s past.

I assume she’s their age, and even though she’s famous she probably stays with the team a lot. Perhaps she’ll help them train, or she’ll help Minato overcome his past incident.

Favorite Characters

From the brief descriptions we had, I think I’ll have three possible favorite characters.

One is the one kid who admires Minato—Eitarou. See this kid looked so bright and happy and Babey. He’s gonna be like Futaba I just know it. *gently holds*

Another possible favorite will be that one who’s super withdrawn from others, I think his name was Yoshiharu. Idk I just tend to gravitate towards these characters. Kin material methinks /hj

And, the character who will be my all time favorite for the rest of time — drum roll please — Kameyoshi!!!! How could I not. Our beloved tortoise deserves the world. I’ve only had Kameyoshi for a day and a half but if anything happens to him I’ll kill everyone in this room and then myself

Shipping

Shipping is scary to talk about before a show starts but I do have a couple guesses as to who I and many others will probably ship

The first guess is Minato and Eitarou, since Eitarou admires Minato. (Reminds me of Misato and Futaba, and it’s a dynamic I love and can personally relate to hdksks)

Another ship I can see happening is Minato and Jou, since it seems like Minato, Jou, and Eitarou will be the main trio. Jou (and Eitarou) convinces Minato to join the sport again so I can see where people (and possibly myself) will be like !!!! SHIP !!! (Valid, by the way)

(And who needs love triangles when there’s an easy answer? Can’t decide between those two? No problem! All three are in love Thanks For Coming To My Ted Talk) /lh

We also have the one (1) girl character, so I desperately hope she won’t be there just to be ogled at by the boys yknow? Anyway, there will probably be a ship or two people might like her to be in, but since we don’t have a description on her other than that she knows Minato’s past and is famous, imma hold off on possibly guessing who she’ll be shipped with. (Me. She’ll be shipped with me. Kawakubo Chinu I ask for your hand in marriage)

That’s really all I can guess so far! Again I haven’t studied the characters much, but I did rewatch the trailer a bunch of times lmaoo.

The trailer doesn’t give much, or anything really, in the way of rival teams, so I’m not sure how that plays into to the plot or even Minato’s past.
