@avaere: "It's entirely impossible to go underwater and breathe, that goes beyond all logic I have ever been taught throughout my years at the Akademiya," so much for indulging in a debate in regards to swimming, the nature of local water in Fontaine, for where there is a sight of someone willingly plunging themselves into such horrific depths there's an architect more than willing to utter his frustrations to poor Vautrin. So much for showing Kaveh the piers of Court of Fontaine. It has resulted in utter disbelief, a blonde holding his hand out in the direction of people jumping into the water from the edge, eyes torn between his company and the death trap; "Are people of this nation just - willingly sacrificing themselves to crabs? You can't possibly tell me that people are supposed to breathe under water, Vautrin. That is not how it works."
Again, disbelief, and possibly a small concern for was to how much water the people of Fontaine happen to be consuming during their little adventures. Perhaps the crabs enjoyed drowned dinner?
Hand retracts to the bridge of his nose, elbow propped up against an arm that laid around the architect's waist. He cannot help but to sigh at it all. "Water is wet, water is heavy and water will fill up every possibly crevice, therefore lungs - drowning, death -" there's a head lifting itself back up to look at Vautrin.
"How - how - do people breathe under water, Vautrin, explain this - because I don't believe it."
It is safe to say that Vautrin has never met a person so adverse to the water in his entire life - all four-hundred plus years of it. Of course, he has never been outside of Fontaine's borders (primordial sea aside, which he argues is both inside and outside Fontaine, but that is besides the point). It used to be a saying from his own youth that children in Fontaine learned to swim before they learned to walk.
As he watches the incredulous expression intensify on the blond's face, his gesturing becoming more exaggerated with every word that increases in both volume and emphasis, Vautrin's relaxes into something akin to genuine amusement. The normally stiff and awkward captain seems to melt away, revealing a hint of the man that lurks beneath the formalities.
"Well, I know not what your Akademiya taught you, but Fontaine water is... unique. Different. We are the nation of Hydro, after all. Is it truly that much of a surprise?" He decides to overlook the rather redundant statement that water is wet, and instead focuses on the question that lingers on the architect's lips.
It is, he assumes, a common question asked from visitors of other lands. A fair one, too - certainly, he understands the disbelief Kaveh cannot shake. "I can assure you, no one is sacrificing themselves to crabs." Is that, perhaps, a hint of exasperation in the captain's voice? But, honestly... the dramatics of this man seemingly know no bounds.
"And for the average person, the water here is no different to anywhere else. That is, they cannot breathe underwater and must, instead, hold their breath for as long as they are able, or use equipment to aid them. It is still very possible for such people to drown if they are not careful." The briefest of shadows flickers across the swirling colours of Vautrin's primordial gaze - a memory, a pain that forever lingers deep in his heart.
It is gone as soon as it appears. He focuses again on Kaveh, on the swirling green particles that dance about his person with every move he makes - and he nods at the vision hanging at Kaveh's waist. "It is different for people like you. Like us." He is quick to add that last amendment. There may indeed be a vision fastened to the cape at his shoulder, but it is not his vision that grants him air beneath the waves.
But Kaveh doesn't need to know that. No one does.
"Would you like me to demonstrate for you?" He can already predict what the reaction to this offer will be, yet he makes it anyway. "I can sit just there, beneath the surface, for as long as I need to in order to prove you will not drown."
Arms cross over the former captain's chest, brow furrowing ever so slightly. "I may not be overly familiar with Sumeru as a whole, but given its rich forests and jungles, I assume there is ample water to be found. Yet your reaction seems so... extreme. Monsieur Kaveh, you do know how to swim, yes?"

fae!Sirius asks for your name and you give it to him immediately because he's just so pretty wtf and he feels too bad to steal it from you because you're looking at him like he's a god and sure, it's not uncommon for his 'victims' to think he's beautiful but something about *you* just makes his little fae heart race-
I'm so normal about him I promise <3
Babe you have no idea how this has sat in my brain since you sent it all those months ago. I am not normal about him. Thank you! <3
fae!Sirius x whimsical!reader ♡ 804 words
Sometimes, when you leave your gifts in the forest, you’ll think you hear movement behind you. A soft crunch of the leafbed, or a rustling in the trees overhead. You’ll catch the rich scent of soil after a storm, though it hasn’t rained for days and the sky is blue and cloudless. Sirius will watch as your head lifts, noticing these things, but then you’ll simply carry on with what you’re doing, stand up, and go home.
One day, you stand up to go home and find him waiting for you.
“Hello, lovely,” he says, watching in amusement as your human face stills with awe. Your lips part.
You know instantly what he is. No human carries themselves like the fae do, like Sirius could melt into the foliage at whim and you’d never find a trace of him. None of your kind have features quite so fine, or hair so dark it eats the sun. Or eyes like his, ever changing, shifting colors like a fish’s scales. No, you recognize him with one look.
To your credit, you recover quickly. “Hello,” you say back.
Sirius smiles with his too-white teeth. “What have you brought me this time?”
You look behind you, to the tree hollow where you leave your gifts, as though you’ve already forgotten. “Oh. It’s a new cheese I found. Sea salt and honey.”
Sirius cocks his head, intrigued. “I’ve not had that before.”
“I thought you might not have.” Your initial surprise is wearing off, giving way to a sweet airiness. Your smile is soft as fresh snow. “I try to bring new things for you to try. I didn’t realize how small the portions would be, though; you’re bigger than I thought.”
Sirius looks at you, making his eyes flash. He expects you to flinch, but you gasp softly, leaning in as if to see better. Strange.
“You think that because I’m this size now, I must always be,” he says.
“Aren’t you?”
He tsks, teasing. “Best not to make presumptions.”
Once again, curiosity rules your expression. Your eyes squint and your brows twitch towards each other, but before you can ask more questions Sirius goes on.
“You’re beautiful,” he says, a simple truth. He wonders if you know he can’t lie. “If you’d let me repay your generosity, I’d like to give you a gift in return.”
Again, your lips part, but you hesitate. Such pretty lips, Sirius thinks. So expressive.
“That’s alright,” you say after a moment. “I don’t need anything. They were for you.”
Sirius hides a smile. Clever thing, not to accept gifts from the fae.
“If that’s what you want.” He asks, in a voice like spidersilk, “But what should I call the beautiful girl who’s left me so many gifts?”
You smile and give him your name without reservation. Perhaps not so clever after all.
Sirius says it back to you, rolling it around in his mouth. It leaves a sweet aftertaste on his tongue. You nod in clueless confirmation.
“Can I ask yours?”
“No,” says Sirius, “you may not.”
You don’t appear offended. Your eyes are placid and trusting. Maybe it’s that look that makes him hesitate. Sirius knows what he’s meant to do now, what he’s done to others before you, but he finds himself tempted to wait. To see what you do next.
“Well,” you say after a long silence, “I hope you like the cheese. If you want more, I can bring you some next time, but I should probably be getting home now.”
“So soon?” Sirius asks. Though the breeze is cooling, and the sun’s dying rays tangle in your hair.
You smile, almost apologetic. “Yeah, but—oh. Here, I forgot.” You reach into your bag, drawing out a long feather. It’s onyx black and shines like oil in the fading sunlight. “I found this at a friend’s house a few days ago, I meant to leave it with the cheese.” You look at him, shameless in your appraisal. “It sort of looks like your hair.”
Sirius smiles, feeling the stretch of his lips with an odd sort of amusement. “It does,” he agrees. He lets you place the feather in his hand and feels the warmth of your fingertips on his skin with something like awe. A human has never been so bold as to touch him before.
“I’ll visit soon,” you say, granting him one last, serene smile as you turn to go. “I hope you come out and say hello.”
He thinks that he might. As you walk away, feet padding softly on grass and the shadows of trees falling over you like loving touches, he considers stealing the name you gave him so freely.
But you’re lovely, and Sirius is a hedonist. He wants a taste of those lips given of your own free will.

bright eyes | eddie munson x reader
summary you're a new neighbour in the trailer park, on a sunny day Eddie's daughter bumps into you. (4.1k)
warnings fem!reader, girl!dad Eddie!!!!, fluff, mutual pining, yearning etc, slowburn strangers to lovers, idiots in love!!!, , english is not my first language so I apologise if there’s some mistakes, not proof read!
a/n: i think i might make this a little series if you guys would like that <3 part 2 part 3
It was warm outside.
Early spring had its advantages, flowers started to bloom, the sun shone brighter and longer, and the rain fell only at night when you had trouble sleeping.
You had just moved here, and you still weren’t sure or knew that much, so you tended to keep to yourself. You’d go to work, to the little shop on main street, back to your little trailer.
You were sitting down on your little kitchen floor, looking at the way your washing machine turned around, waiting for your hair to dry after the shower, so you could sleep with fresh sheets tonight. You enjoyed this sort of calmness, a new found happiness that you weren’t aware you could achieve.
You placed the white sheets on the little laundry basket that you had lying around, cloth pins scattered on its bottom. You held it, against your waist, your left hand grabbing it while you struggled to open the door.
You whispered along the words of a song that was playing from a beat up radio from across the street, taking your time, as you placed every sheet perfectly, enjoying the sun shining on your face. It was all going as well as it could.
“Hi.”
It startled you, not as much as it could, the little voice coming from down below you, it forced you to look down, a little girl looked up at you, half hiding behind your sheets, she was wearing a black faded black sabbath shirt that didn’t belong to her, the seam of it well past her knees, white socks on her feet, her hair was black and curly, half hiding her eyes.
“Oh. Hi.” You smiled at her, the sweetest tone you could fathom came out of your lips. She became shy for a second, as she grabbed one of your clothes pins and handed it to you. “Thank you, buddy.” You smiled as you grabbed it, placing it on top of one of your cushion covers, even if it didn’t need an extra one. “You’ll get your socks dirty.” You point out.
She smiled in a shy manner, covering her face with her hands as she nodded.
“Bug?” She turned around as soon as she heard his voice. Her arms went up, demanding to be held by him. “There you are!” He had a soft and playful tone, as he grabbed her.
You felt stuck there for a second. He was tall, with curly dark hair, strong decorated by tattoos arms that flex when he held her, close to his chest. The same smile she seemed to have was imprinted on his face. It’s not that he is attractive -which he undeniably is- but he seems to shine, in a beautiful light, warmer than the sun.
“I’m sorry if she annoyed you, we were playing hide and seek.” His words come out way too quicker than he had wanted them to, with an apologetic look on his face as he swayed his body, her giggles invading the space between you.
“She didn’t, not at all.” You smiled at him, before looking back at her, she was giggling at you now, and a soft spot was found deep inside your heart. “She was helping me do laundry, actually.” You point out to the extra wood clothespin that she had given you.
“Oh, so you can help the pretty lady and not me?” He jokes as he tickles her belly, the infectious laughter growing louder and stronger as he holds his face closer to hers.
But you don’t really listen, the only thing in your mind right now is his voice calling you pretty.
pretty, pretty, pretty.
Your cheeks become warmer, pinker.
As soon as he notices, he realises what he had said.
He had called you pretty before even introducing himself. He feels like a fool, he meets a pretty girl and is only focused on the one in his arms.
He tries to fix it, a soft grin dedicated to you as a nervous scoff leaves his lips.
You don’t really mind the silence, or the opportunity to look at him, and his dark chocolate eyes, but you have the impulse to tell him your name, and you do, with an upside down smile that passes down to him.
“I’m Eddie.” He says in return, grabbing your hand not thinking much of it, though he didn’t think he’d feel a sort of sparks as soon as your hand met his. To be fair, neither did you. “This little bug is Lua.” He adds, as he lets go of your hand, slowly, so his fingers can tickle her again, making her giggle once more, her tiny hands grabbing his hair in a playful manner.
“Hi Lua.” It’s not that your voice comes out shy, but the high pitched baby voice makes your tone come out with a bit of a treble, as if nervousness that she wouldn’t like you took over. “Thanks for helping me with laundry.” You add, as she hides, pushing her face against Eddie’s chest, the pureness of that gesture makes your smile wider.
If you weren’t so focused on Lua’s reactions, you would have caught Eddie lost into you, as he had never experienced such kindness or softness from someone that wasn’t already close.
He was used to the stares, and the silent judgment from everyone, way before Lua came into his life, and mostly it came from people around his age, or way older. His constant thought behind a string of ‘shut up grandpa’ and ‘go back to your retirement home’ that he never said out loud. The world could be mean, but he would never let her little girl know that. At least not yet.
He wasn’t used to this though.
A kind stranger, around his age, that doesn’t really judge, and interacts in a playful manner with her. It was more than he could fathom.
“‘r welcome.” Lua mumbled as she looked up from her hiding spot for a second, before burying herself back into his arms.
Eddie’s heart felt full for a moment. Lua wasn’t used to strangers, and she didn't really like to talk out loud to people she wasn’t used to. Though these days she was only used to uncle Way and Stevie, or aunt Rob. So seeing her, not only talking back after you told her something, but having seen her approach you out of her own will, it made his mind stop worrying for just a second. Lua’s social ability was just as good as his in that moment.
The thought made him smile to himself.
“We should check if our’s is done.” He mumbled to Lua’s ear as he started swinging his chest again, hugging her tightly as he felt how she was starting to get heavier. “That way you can stop wearing dada’s shirt.” He looked attentive at your face, waiting for your reaction.
He felt better when he didn’t see nothing but a compassionate smile.
Eddie was also used to people thinking he wasn’t the dad, maybe an uncle, maybe an older brother. Eddie was also used to people opening their eyes wide as soon as they hear dad when referred to him.
But you didn’t.
Truth be told, it did shock you a bit. But the little girl was a carbon copy of him. The same wide smile and wild hair. And the world was mean and complicated enough, you didn’t need to make it harder for someone you had just met.
“We’ll see you around?” He asks, with a hopefulness on his voice that you’re not too sure what it means, or what you actually want it to mean.
“Yeah, I moved in a while ago so…” He nodded as he pointed at the little trailer right in front of yours.
“That’s us.”
“Way!” Lua blurted out as she looked back at where she called home, and Eddie couldn’t help but chuckle and give her a kiss on her temple.
“Yes! And uncle Wayne too.” You noticed that his tone is sweeter, calmer and a bit higher when he talks to the little girl on his arms than when he talks to you. “If you ever need anything…”
He doesn’t finish his sentence, the end of it implied, and you’re left nodding, telling him that if they ever need anything you’re here too, waving bye to Lua as she looks over Eddie’s shoulder, her little hand waving back.
You finish hanging your laundry dry, as you think about what just happened.
You had finally made friends that weren’t work related, and one of them was a baby. You sort of chuckle to yourself. It felt stupid, but it also felt good, knowing someone here, and that someone being nice, and kind.
It felt as if you were finally on the right path.
-
“Bug, please?” Eddie whined for the fourth time, while Lua was still on the higher part of the couch, looking out the window.
She shook her head again, Wednesdays were always the longest days in the Mudson household. Eddie took another big breath, while he looked at his wrist watch once again, afraid he’ll be late if he doesn’t leave soon.
“Okay… You can either stay here with uncle Way, or you can come with dada to the garage. Please?” He bargained, for the last time, begging to some higher power she’ll climb down the sofa.
He could scream out of excitement once she finally did.
“friend?” She asked, in a mumble as she pointed out of the door.
She had been doing that for a while now, ever since Eddie had found Lua in your yard, she kept asking to go see you, for some reason that escaped Eddie’s mind, her little girl seemed to have an infatuation with you.
Eddie sat down on the floor now, and Lua started walking closer to him, he laughed in defeat as she giggled, her little steps approaching him.
“Once I get back from work, deal?”
Eddie held his hand out, waiting for her to shake it as she usually did when she knew she had won whatever she wanted -which happened frequently- but accepted with glee once she tried to hug him, with her usual clumsiness. Her arms not quite reaching the back of his neck until he helped her up.
He enjoyed this little moment.
Holding her close while nothing else was going on. A long day ahead of him that he wasn’t totally ready for, but then again he wasn’t really ready for a lot of things that he ended up being capable of.
Wayne’s steps broke the small intimate moment.
“You made a friend, Lua?” He asked as she giggled at the sight of him, even if he still was half asleep, Wayne always seemed to have more than enough energy for her.
“She did.”
“Who?”
“New girl.” Eddie nodded at the trailer that could be seen through their window.
“Huh.” Wayne had never been a man of many words, but the way his facial expression changed usually left nothing to the imagination. In this case, it was a warning. An overprotective warning.
“She seems nice. Lua approached her.” She smiled, as she always did when she heard her own name. Eddie knew that she liked to be included, no matter what. Maybe that’s why he tried so hard.
“You did?” Wayne’s eyes opened wider, as he squatted down to meet her eye level, she wobbled her way into him, as she giggled once again. She had a secret power, or at least that’s what Eddie thought, to make everyone happy.
“Friend!” She said again, pointing at where she had last seen you.
“Okay bug, see you in a bit?”
“Lo you.” She muttered as she waved bye, Eddie’s heart warmer as he opened the door and blew her a kiss.
“Love you too, bug.” Eddie opened the door, stopping on the frame as he always did, checking his pockets, making sure he had everything he needed with him.
“Kid, if you plan on going over, make sure she’s okay with it. Not a lot of people are.” It was another warning, his left eyebrow raised, his tone sharper. Eddie just nodded.
And before he knew it, he was already on your door, knocking and hoping you’re actually home.
You were, and the nocks on your door wake you up. You had always been a light sleeper. You found your way out of your bed, and you didn’t care if your hair was a bit knotted than usual, messier or that your eyes were still adjusting to the light creeping through your windows. You opened the door and there he was. Tall, handsome Eddie, in his washed up jeans and his white shirt that had some small car grease marks on it. His opened blue short sleeve shirt with the little name tag made you smile internally.
“Sorry.” He muttered, as soon as you made eye contact with him.
He took a second, you stood there, sleep still present on your face and overall demeanor, but what caught his attention -even if he tried not to- were your naked legs, barely covered by an oversized shirt that you evidently used as a sleep shirt. Still, you looked pretty, he thought. He also felt bad that he had woken you up.
“S’kay. Morning.” You half joked as you smiled up at him, your head resting against the door frame, your arms crossed over your chest, the air making you feel a bit colder than you were deep in your sheets.
“Yeah, morning.” He was left speechless. He wasn’t sure why, but all of a sudden he wished he hadn’t knocked. So you could be resting, being face to face with you, he could see the little bags under your eyes, and he imagined how much you were enjoying getting to sleep in.
“You knocked to tell me good morning?” If you hadn’t had a smile on your lips, or your voice wasn’t as sweet and soft as it was, Eddie would have felt even worse. When in reality it made you inexplicably happy that he was the reason you had woken up.
“No, yeah, sorry.” He chuckled in a nervous manner once again. “Uh, Lua has been asking for you, and uh… I’m done at work early today, and if it’s not too weird and if it’s okay we could come for a bit after, don’t worry if you don’t feel like it i-”
“I’d love that.” You cut his nervous and anxious rambling off. “I’m free today, so I can go pick up some things for her?”
Eddie relaxed, his shoulders dropping and his smile finally appearing.
While you had to try hard to hide your excitement.
“You don’t have to…”
“Shut up. She deserves it.”
Even if you weren’t aware of it, that was the best thing you could have said to him. But truth be told, you were actually excited, you had been thinking about him, and the promise of a new friendship since you had met him, so this? It felt like the perfect excuse.
“What time were you thinking?”
“Uh, I dunno, my shift ends at around six, so maybe…”
“I’ll have snacks ready by six then, don’t worry.”
He was way more thankful than he could express, but he tried his best anyway.
“Thank you princess, it means a lot. Truly.” That nickname rang in your ears for a while, the same way it did when he had called you pretty. It was made obvious that you had liked it by the way you were starting to blush.
“Don’t worry Edds.” You stayed just like you were for a second longer. Looking at him, and the way his dimples were showing when he smiled as wide as he did, and a spark in his eyes he seemed to reserve for you. “Hope you have a good day at work.”
He was the one blushing now, and the one he was left with the way you had called him Edds, the sound of your voice present on his ears for a while after he had started driving. It wasn’t until he arrived at the garage, when he realised he was smiling at nothing, like an idiot.
-
You might have gone a bit overboard.
You had gone into town, and before you knew it your fridge was now filled with various juices and milk. The good ones that you usually didn’t buy for yourself. You had thought about baking a cake, but you ended up deciding that that felt too much as a birthday type of treat, so you went for your comfort recipe.
The cookie dough was already done, and you were chopping up the chocolate bar into smaller bits. You hated dark chocolate, so milky sweet one was the only acceptable one.
Morrisey’s voice kept you company as you mutter along the lyrics.
You looked over your little home, you had cleaned, deeply. Afraid that Eddie would judge you, or that Lua would somehow hurt herself or something could happen to her. You tend to do that, over worrying about things you can’t really control.
Then again, Eddie was doing the same thing.
A quick shower, fresh clothes, and hair almost dry. Lua looked up at him with excitement, as he tried to find something else for her to wear. She had a tendency to steal his shirts when he wasn’t there, in an attempt to be close to him, or at least that’s what he thought. So the negotiation began.
“Bug, which one?” On his left hand he had a light blue dress that Joyce gave him a few years ago, on his right he had a newer pair of overalls. She stood there, shaking her head as she hugged the shirt she was already wearing. “You need to get dressed if you want to go see your new friend, bug.” He couldn’t help but chuckle, as soon as she realised they were going to see you, she pointed at the overalls and had no issue getting ready.
Thank god for you, he thought. It had never been that easy, normally Lua hated changing clothes, especially when she was already comfortable. But this time, she didn’t only do it, she helped, and was excited to.
Lua wasted no time, her hands hitting your door as hard as she could, which resulted in soft knocks you still heard.
“Hi.” She beamed up at you, holding her arms open for you, her voice higher than you remembered. It might be her childish excitement, or at least that’s what you think.
“Hi Lua.” You met her level of excitement as you squatted down so you could meet her, her arms trying to hug you, waiting for you to help her get up so she could do it. Used to this type of hug with her dad.
Speaking of, Eddie was speechless. Mainly because Lua doesn’t really hug people that are not him, or Wayne. Steve maybe had gotten two or three hugs, she usually blew kisses. Also he wasn’t sure if you actually wanted them there, or were just being nice, but that doubt went away as soon as he heard your voice, and saw the way you smiled at her.
He also was pretty sure that he could smell cookie dough.
Lua found her way in, passing you by as you greeted Eddie. She didn’t have time to waste, her curiosity always winning. In her defense, your house was full of colour, and she wasn’t used to it. Every pillow was a different colour, and they were everywhere. Your couch was green, which she didn’t even know that was a possibility. Your walls had photos, and posters, and drawings. She had so much to look at she was grinning from ear to ear, laughing as she moved around.
Eddie did the same, in a more discrete manner. He found his way in the middle of your living room, he looked at the stacked shelves, they were full to the brim, various fantasy books that he recognised -mainly because he had already read them- cassette tapes and vinyls also shared a big portion of space. He smiled to himself everytime he knew a group that you seemed to like. Your vhs collection also caught his eye. You, on the other hand, were left there, holding your hands in an anxious manner, not too sure what to do now. Seeing how father and daughter act the same in different ways.
“You’re listening to the Smiths?” He asked, once he caught on to what was playing.
“Oh, yeah, I’ll uh… turn it off.” You became embarrassed, knowing that probably he didn’t like that type of music, or maybe it was too loud. Eddie smiled, shaking his head no.
“No, it’s fine. Lua likes them, that’s all.” You looked down at her, and relaxed once you saw her dancing along. She was moving up and down, kind of in tune with the music.
The little timer started, letting you know that the cookies were now done.
“Lua, you like cookies?” She didn’t even need to say anything, her eyes opened as she heard the word, she walked next to you, Eddie following closely.
He grabbed her up, letting her sit down on the counter. He was grateful all the trailers were the same, that way he knew -kinda- where everything was.
“Carefull, bug. It’s hot.”
“Hot.” She repeated, pointing at the baking sheet that you took out, fresh golden chocolate chips came out. “For me?”
“Well, not all of them.” Eddie answered, with an amused tone in her voice that made you chuckle in response.
“We have to wait for them to cool down a bit.” You told her as you placed them on a plate, the tips of your fingers slightly burning.
“Why?” Her eyes opened in wonder, not really following you.
“‘Cause when they’re too warm, they can give you a belly ache.” You explained to her, earnest in your tone, as you touched your own stomach.
“Only five minutes, bug.” Lua turned around, looking at Eddie with a confused look. “You can wait five minutes right?” She looked at him, slowly. You couldn’t help but chuckle, seeing the way they share the same look between them.
-
You were on the couch.
Eddie didn’t count it as cuddling, not really.
You were just sitting down next to him, his arm brushing yours, as you both looked between the T.V that was playing ‘Arthur and the Stone ’- you had a tendency to collect VHS, and the style and drawings had pulled you to buy it. You didn’t have an excuse until now to watch it, so you were just enjoying it as much as Lua did- and the little one, who was enamored by the story, while she colored in one paper lazily.
Eddie had become a bit too comfortable. His body feeling heavier, warmer, he was on the verge of falling asleep. That same feeling shot sirens on his head. This felt too nice, too normal, too usual. He could get used to this, and that wasn’t good.
He didn’t really know you.
Eddie knew where you lived, how your living room looked, that you worked almost everyday -though he still didn’t know where-, and that you were incredibly nice. And sweet.
Eddie also knew that Lua trusted you, and for now, that was enough.
It was enough that you had taken time out of your day so you could bake them cookies, or buying the expensive juice that you had taken them in as if they had always belonged there.
Lua giggled and Eddie’s eyes opened, seeing how she was pointing at the T.V when the boy turned into a squirrel, and the way she looked up at you, wanting to see your reaction. He was happy, more than he had been in a while.
You were sinking deeper into the cushions. Deeper into him and this familiarity. You could get used to this, but you weren’t unsure if you should. You enjoyed spending time with them, and this was fun, but then again, it was scary. It scared you, the thought of it going wrong, or you doing something you weren’t supposed to, it was a bit too much.
While you were sitting down there, with him that close, his smell lingering in the air, his warmness by your side, the risk of this crush evolving into something else was too much.
You didn’t care. Not at all.
Neither did Eddie. Not even a little bit.

You and Vi were inseparable. Ever since the moment you met her when Vander took her and her younger sister Pouder in, you instantly connected. She became your best friend, the person you could count on, the person who was there for you like no one was before, in your younger years. But things were different now, and after what happened that horrible night that haunted you for years, nothing felt worth fighting anymore. But still can't help it bu remenneceing all these joyful moments.
Flashback
"Vi look what I found!" You called for her, excitement filling your voice. Vi turned to look at you, taking off her gloves since she was busy practicing her punches. She smiled softly at how cute you looked when you were excited about something.
"What is it dove?" Your nickname a beautiful sound when she was the one saying it. You approached her and showed her what you had in your hands. It was a ring, with a gorgeously polished green stone on top of it, making it shine brightly when the light was hitting on it.
"Wow, well look at you. My treasure hunter." She pumped playfully her shoulder with yours and you blushed. She carefully took it in her ahnds to inspect it. "This could be very useful if we sell it." Sell it? No.
"Um, I was thinking about keeping it actually. It's not like rings like this one will start falling from the sky every now and then. It's unique."
Vi smirked at you and she chuckled.
" Yeah it's ok I guess. Just not as unique..." you furrowed your brows as she leaned closer to you. "As you." She pulled away, a proud smirk painted on her face as she watched yours turning red.
"I- oh shut up." You grimaced, pretending you didn't like that she was talking like his to you. But in reality, you absolutely loved it.
"Anyways, are you ready to go back? Vander siad not to wander around this late." She grabbed her bag and was about to give you thw ring back, but she stopped.
"What?" You asked curiously.
She took another look at the ring and then put it in her pocket.
"I'm keeping. You never know how useful is going to be in the future." That was all she said, before she took your han in hers gently and left the practice room.
...
You, Vi and the rest of your had thought about having small group meeting on the rooftop, since it was the only place that peaceful enough, even in a town like Zaun.
"And when the guy almost got me, I grabbed his arm, turned it around and then kneed him straight to his face!" Ekko was trting to illustrate the fight and it was so hilarious with how he was portraying the movements, that you couldn't help but laugh out loud. The rest joined you too and Ekko let out frustrated sigh.
"If you were you would've seen how cool it was." Ekko smirked and wrapped you arm his shoulder, giving him a small kiss on his head. Ekko was like a brother to you, and you felt so happy seeing him smiling like that after what he also wne through.
"I know, that's why you're coolset hero here in Zaun" You smiled.
"You really think that I'm cool?" His eyes lighting up with happiness.
"Of course I do!" He huuged tightly and then went to talk to Powder.
You hadn't noticed yet, but Vi was the only one who didn't utter a word all this time. She was too busy looking at you fondly, being completely gone by the way your smile you light up this dark and nasty world, and how caring you were for your small family.
"You ok?" You sat down next to her.
She smiled and gently took your hand in hers.
"Better than ever." She replied and let you rest your head on her shoulder.
...
Everything was blurry. The explosion had you made you fly literally out of the building, and you had survived because Vander had caught uou before you and Vi before you could get hurt. This wasn't supposed to got like this. When Vi had to told me and Powder to stay out of this mission, of course she did not take it well. She wnated to help just like I did, and since I was the only who could think reasonably enough, I had to convince Powder to stay in the bar with me.
But the plan had changed. She was determined to go help them and I needed go with her in case something bad happened. Which of course happened. That's why we now had lost Claggor, Mylo and Vander in one night.
"Vander? VANDER!" I cried hard as I tried to hug his giant unmoving body. "No no no no no" I mumbled to myself as I tried to shake him so he can wake up. There's no way he was dead.
"What the fuck were you thinking huh?" Vi's voice boomed through the rain.
Screamed in my face, while Powder was on her knees next to Vander as she was bawling her eyes out. Vi had slapped her, and I could do was watching in terror as I saw- for the first time - Vi becoming someone else. A stranger.
"I had to follow her Vi. It was dangerous to go out there alone and-"
"You could have prevented her from coming here and stay back in the bar I like I told you to do!" Vi was seething in anger. More tears were building in my eyes and I my knees felt weak at what had happened.
"I don't...I'm sorry Vi-"
"A sorry will NOT CHANGE A FUCKING THING!" Then Vi pushed me hard on the ground and time seemed to stop. I was scared. So scared. Then Vi's expression from anger to terror.
"I...Y/n..." She wanted to take her in her arms. Both Powder and Y/n. But she wasn't in the right state of mind and she was scared that she would hurt them more if she stayed here with them any longer. So she did what she had to do. Get away from them.
"No" Powder's voice shook "VI! No- DON'T LEAVE ME!" She yelled and cried on her knees.
You stood up and went next to Powder and cradled her in your arms. She cried in your chest as you watched Vi disappearing from your sight, leaving you all alone.
"Well what do we have here." His sickeningly disgusting voice said. You slowly turned your head and looked at this piece of shit of a man.
"You asshole" Your hold tightened around Powder, fearing that they would hurt her.
"Get them both gone. I don't need anyone from Vander's little family to roam my streets anymore." Once of Silco's groupies grabbed you harshly by your hair and you screamed loudly.
"It'll be so fun to skin you alive" He chuckled and took me away from Powder. She trief to reach for your hold as she screamed your name repeatedly, not handling the fact that she was going to lost you too. Not wanting ti leace her alone, you throwed a kick behind you and the man let out a scream as he crouched down from pain.
"Don't let ler leave!" Silco said and more man from his group went after you, while trying to shoot you. Not being able to do anything more, you made a promise to yourself that you would find a way to save Powder and you took off. As you ran, you could swear that even though the loud noise of the rain, you thought you still heard Vi calling your name.
Few years later
Your life changed drastically after these events. You were lucky enough that Ekko found you though and you joined the firelights. Without them you wouldn't have survived in the cruel world that Silco had created.
The had grew dark, and you tried to stay in the shadows so you wouldn't get caught since there were many police officers roaming around the streets. You could tell that something had gone wrong. You and Ekko knew about Jinx. Jinx. For you she would always be Powder no matter what. You were aware that she had changed because of Silco, but you had hoped that maybe a small part of her, could still fight for the right causes and remember all the times she spent with us, as Powder.
"I'll go look for another way ok? Make sure that you will not get caught." He whispered and bring you into a hug. You hugged him back and smiled softly.
"Don't worry about me. I got this."
"I know you do." He smirked and then disappeared in the cold, dark night. When you looked back at the enforcers, you could tell that something had gone wrong. They were preparing for something and you didn't know what it was about, but no matter what you had to stay in the dark and cross the bridge as soon as possible.
'Great' you thought and tried to look for another way that could get you to the other side. Once you found it, you were ready to leave but something stopped you. Loud steps could be heard in the silent night, running towards you. Oh no. Someone had definitely found you.
"Shit" you cursed under your breath and tried to escape but before I could even move, I saw a many fireflies flying all over the bridge. Strange. Then suddenly they exploded and I looked for a way to cover myself from them. After a few minutes, when the place was terrifyingly quiet, I made the move to leave but my body was pumped into a hard chest, making me lose my balance. I was about fall but a hard grip around my waist prevented me from doing so.
"Leave me alone right now!" I yelled and tried to escape from her hold but instead it become tighter the moment I spoke making me wince.
"y/n?" The figure's shaking voice made you stop fighting from getting off their hold. This voice. There's...there's no way.
"Vi?" I whispered, and backed away a bit to take a better look. No fucking way. Your reaction at seeing her after years wasn't what she expected, as you hardly pushed her away.
"Dove please let me-" Then a punch was thrown on her jaw and she started at you with wide eyes.
"Shut the fuck up" I girtted my teeth. Vi just atood there, in silence, not believing that she had just found you again after all this time. She was looking for you after he finally got out of the prison. When she couldn't found you at all, she thought she had lost you too for good but now you stood in front of her, her heart started beating again like it did for you all this time.
"Dove I-"
"I don't want you to say a single word. Nothing you'll say will change a thing" Your cold voice gave shivers to Vi. All she could think about was that she needed you desperately. To hold you, kiss you and love you.
Before she could take a step closer to you again, loud noises could be heard on the other side and some rangers made their appearance.
"We have to go now." She grabbed your wrist to follow her but you pulled away.
"I don't want to go anywhere with you. I've had enough with all this."
"Listen to me" she grabbed your shoulders tight "you either going to get yourself killed by them and Jinx, or you going to come with me so we can find a llace to hide for a bit and survive." Sha siad through her teeth and you let out a frustrated sigh.
"Fine." You moved first and then Vi followed closely behind you, just to protect you in case something happened.
After you were running for a few more minutes, you laid your back on a wall to take a breath. You could feel Vi's stare burning on you, but you didn't bother looking at her.
"You're ok?" She said breathlessly.
You shooke your head. Nothing was ok. But you had to put aside all the feelings you felt at the moment and focus on how you could survive the coming war.
"No but I'll manage." You replied coldly and Vi could swear that her heart was breaking piece by piece at the way you wouldn't even spare a glance at her.
"Dove I'm really sorry- I know, I know it'll never be enough. After how I treated both you and Powder that night, after I pushed you and then left you and my sister all alone, in the cold dark I- I never left you!" You looked at her. She almost took a step closer to you but she restrained herself frkm doing so in case you pushed her away again.
"I never left. I just wanted to fet away from you so I wouldn't hurt you more. My mind was clouded by anger and sadness and I took it out on you and Powder. I unfortunately had to see you getting hurt by Silco's men and then shooting at you and my goodness dove, I didn't had the time to come to you. They already had arrested me. Marco, the police officer drugged me and I..." her eyes became glossy.
"Please, you have to believe me. I missed you so much. So fucking much baby you have no-" Her hand was placed to where her heart was beating "it physically pains me to see you resent me like this. You can scream at me, hit me as many times as you want but please. Don't push me away. I don't ever want to experience what is like to not being with you." A sob left her lips and that made your own tears fall from your eyes.
"Oh Vi..." You whimpered and started moving towards her to hug her but Vi already did first, by wrapping her arms around your waist as she held you tight against her warm and solid body. The contact made you cry, and you rested your head on her shoulder so you can muffle the noises. As for Vi, hugging you after all this time felt like she could finally breath again.
"I'm here baby, I'm here and I'm never leaving you again. I'll do everything to earn your trust back and make Powder come back to us to. I'll make our family like it was before." She whispered against your head and her hand was drawing soothing circles on your back.
You pulled back and you stared at her. Her heart clenched when she saw your red eyes.
"I promise you baby, I'll stay. It's forever for us. It was meant for us to be together no matter what." She mumbled against your lips and not being able to control it anymore, you crushed your lips with hers. Vi moaned at the feeling of finally kissing you all this time and she cherished like this was going to be the last kiss she would ever get. Which she would never let that happen after tonight. She brought your body closer to hers, melting into the feeling of holding each other.
When you pulled back after a while, she smiled softly at you.
"My beautiful dove" she murmured against your lips and kissed you once more. You then hugged each other and enjoyed the silence before you had to go back out there.
"Dove?"
"Hm?"
"I have something for you." You looked up at her, a small furrow between your brows. She placed her hand inside the pocket and took out this beautiful ring you had found back then. You gasped and stared at it.
"You had it with you all this time?" Your voice shook with emotion.
"Always. Besides, I told you I would need it cause you never know how useful it can be in the future." She gently took your hand and placed the ring on your ring finger. Your eyes widened and Vi chuckled at your reaction, tears shining still from the tears.
"I know it's too early for things like these, and what will happen with Silco and everything is still unsure. But my future with you is not. Cause I know what I want and I want you. More than anything in this world. You're my forever." Her hand cradled the side of your face softly and you closed your eyes at the feeling comforting feeling of er warm hand touching you.
"...yes"
"Yes?!" Her shocked expression made you giggle.
"I want to do this with you. I want a future with you Violet and you better stay this time." You said between your small sobs. She then kissed you passionately and held you in her strong arms.
"It's me and you"
"Me and you" you whispered and you rested your forehead on hers. You believed her. No matter how angry you felt, how much pain you both had to endure because of her absence, you knew you'd somehow find your way back to each other.
Hope you enjoyed reading this one guys! I'll definitely write more fics with and many ither Arcane characters in the future, so stay tuned to read more 🙌

“Mistress, we found this beast outside on the castle grounds.”
In chains was a werewolf, snapping and snarling at the guards that had captured it. They had chains around its neck, arms, and even its legs. How it managed to walk was beyond the Queen. She watched as they dragged it over to her, watching as it struggled every step of the way. She tilted her head, smiling as it flung one of her guards into a wall and two others had to jump in to subdue it.
“Kneel before your Queen.”
It snarled at her in response. Her dark eyes narrowed at it, her perfectly manicured nails clicked on the armrest of her throne impatiently, her silver rings gleaming.
“I said ‘kneel!’” She snapped and the guard on her left kicked the wolf in the back of the leg, causing it to lose its balance and fall down on one knee.
“That’s how I like my prisoners.” She smiled widely and gestured to the guard holding the chain around the creature's neck to pull.
It let out a growl, falling down on both knees and attempted to free itself from its bindings.
She raised her hand once more and the guard let up on the pressure, and it began to calm down.
“I don’t want to look at this … beast anymore. Change. I want to see who was brave enough to trespass on my grounds.”
The beast panted heavily, staring her down, before bowing its head and letting out a loud sigh. Before her eyes, the giant wolf turned into a normal sized woman, who was shaking with emotion.
“What a surprise. I expected it to be another man coming to kill me. Or force me full of his seed.”
At her words, the woman looked up, disgusted at the thought. No, she hadn’t been here to harm the Queen. On the contrary, she wanted to serve her. But these fool guards had captured her and ruined everything.
“What do you want?” She finally asked, looking into the tortured eyes of the wolf-woman.
“To serve.” Her voice was hoarse with misuse.
The Queen looked down at her prisoner, an eyebrow raised in amusement.
“And what makes you think you can serve me?”
“I’m strong,” she huffed. “And I’m loyal.”
“Bring her here.” The guards dragged the naked woman to the throne, handing the Queen the chains that were wrapped around the prisoners neck. “Remove those chains.”
They followed orders, freeing her arms and legs, leaving only the chain around her neck in place.
“Leave us.” She directed towards the guards and they all hesitated a moment before backing up and leaving the throne room.
She pulled on the chain and the woman fell to her knees at her feet, head bowed.
“What’s your name?”
“Y/N.” The wolf replied.
“A beautiful name.” She hummed.
“Lady Maximoff, please let me serve you. I’ll do anything -”
“Anything?” She questioned and the other woman nodded curtly. “Come here.” She beckoned and the wolf obeyed, crawling up to the foot of her throne, head still bowed. “Lift my skirts.”
She raised her head, eyes wide with confusion, but obeyed nevertheless, lifting up the Queens skirts and holding them up, waiting for her next command.
“Lick my pussy. Make a meal out of it.”
The wolf was unsure of the Queen’s intentions, so she stayed still at her feet, still holding up her skirts.
“I know you’re not dumb.” She said, tugging on the chain. “Go on.”
She hesitated, licking her lips before crawling up the throne and settling between the Queen's legs, letting the skirts fall down behind her. Eager to please, she kissed her inner thighs, licking and nipping at her before pressing opened mouthed kisses along her slit. She could hear the Queen moaning as her tongue explored her cunt, dipping inside her and swirling around her throbbing clit.
She could feel the Queen’s hand pushing her head down through her skirts, urging her on.
“Oh, yes,” the Queen whispered, her hips rocking up to meet the girl’s tongue. “You’ll do.”
Y/N hummed against her, lapping at her wetness greedily, happy to be pleasing her. She gripped at her thighs, holding her still as she began to tremble underneath her hands.
“Fuck yes, little wolf, I’m gonna cum.”
Her words fueled her inner fire, her own slick coating her inner thighs as she brought the Queen to release. The Queen pulled up her skirts, releasing the wolf and letting her crawl out from underneath them.
“I think I’ll be keeping you.” The Queen breathed, smiling to herself, tugging the chain around her neck so she got closer to her.
Y/N climbed up onto her lap and Lady Maximoff kissed her, tasting herself on her lips.
“Oh, yes, I’ll be keeping you.”

MASTERLIST || more Frankie - The Hoodie
You are looking out of the window at the night street, illuminated by a few golden lights, when you feel Joel’s heavy hands on your hips and then his lips plant a kiss on your neck from behind.
“Let’s go to bed,” he mumbles, his gruff voice coated with lust.
“No, fuck me right here.”
He smiles against your neck.
“Really? Want the neighbors to see us, dirty girl?”
“Yeah. Neighbors,” you smirk, not tearing your eyes from the car parked outside your apartment building. Your ex’s Pickup.
Joel pierces you with his big stiff cock and before you start moaning like a whore, you open the window a little so you two can not only be visible, but also perfectly heard from the street. Cool autumn air hits your heated face and your nipples get hard under your thin dress.
"Oh yeah, Joel! Harder!" you cry out, reveling in the way he's dragging his huge manhood in and out your channel. You're taking it like a good girl-always wet and tight for your boyfriend's cock.
Your fingers swiftly pull down your neckline, exposing your bouncing tits to whoever might look through your window. And you're sure that someone is looking.
Not knowing about your sick game, Joel is grunting loudly, thrusting deep and hard into you, your back flush with his broad chest. He’s rubbing his stubble against your neck, then your cheek until you turn your face to him and your lips lock in a sloppy and passionate kiss, while he’s holding you close, drawing pleasure from your tight pussy.
Joel’s hand snakes under your dress and having found your naked cunt, begins swirling your clit between two thick fingers. You part from his mouth, whimpering loudly.
“Yeah, baby! Let ‘em hear what a slut you are for me. Getting fucked in front of the whole neighborhood.”
His words push you over the edge and you come on his cock, crying out from pleasure. You don’t fake it. There is no need. He is that good.
Joel follows you soon and shoots his thick warm cum into your pulsating core. When he stills and pulls out, you hastily fix your dress and grab your dog’s leash.
“I’ll walk Tom.” You kiss Joel with tongue and leave the apartment, leaking your boyfriend’s load with every move.
When you step out into the night, you walk along the street a few meters and tie your dog to a street pole. On your legs, trembling from the hard orgasm, you saunter to your ex’s truck.
The passenger door is already open for you when you reach it and you get in, feeling cold air lap at your pussy, coated in Joel’s cum.
A pair of beautiful kicked puppy eyes greet you there and you turn slightly in your seat to see your ex better in the dark car.
Frankie’s wearing a denim shirt, dark blue jeans and his favorite baseball cap that you always hated for hiding his gorgeous curls. He looks the same as the day you left him. Maybe the bags under his eyes are darker but it could be the poor lighting at fault.
“What are you doing here, Frankie?” Your voice is soft and calm, with a pinch of sadness thrown in for his sake.
The man nervously fixes his cap and glances at you from the side, like a guilty dog. He clears his throat and lies,
“ ‘m checking on you.”
His velvety voice caresses your ear, it’s soft like everything about his character. He starts chewing on his lip while his eyes are staring into the darkness ahead of him.
“No, you’re stalking me, baby. I see your Pickup everywhere I go. Near my work last week. I spotted you at the bar today. And now you’re here… spying on me through the window.”
He proves that he watched your little show when he spreads his thighs wider and bucks his hips, unwillingly attracting your attention to his big bulge. You both are quiet for a few moments.
“I miss you,” he finally admits, turning to you. His eyes are sad and sappy and you should feel sorry, bad or at least sympathetic but the overwhelming feeling in your heart is a triumph. He’s not over you. You’re the best he’s ever had and he desperately wants you back.
You’ve been feeling elated lately when you noticed Frankie stalking you. It’s been fun playing with him and you don’t plan on stopping. You pull your brows together and coo,
“I understand, baby, but you can’t keep coming here. Joel’s a jealous type. I don’t want any problems.”
While you’re talking, Frankie’s nodding along, eyes downcast. You place your hand on his shoulder and give it a comforting squeeze. His own big paw flies to yours and after bringing it to his mouth, he presses his lips to your palm. Your heart flutters at his need for you and your pussy tingles when you remember the way his plush lips were leaving kisses all over your body weeks ago.
“Baby,” you breathe out and he looks at you, not letting go of your hand. You see tears in his eyes, not enough to spill but enough to fuel up your ego. His eyes are so pretty like that, wet lashes and glossy chocolatey irises.
“Aww, Frankie,” you coo and open your arms to him. He rushes to you as if you’re his lifeline, wrapping his big strong arms around your torso and burying his face in the crook of your neck.
You’re hugging him back, trying not to suffocate in his steel embrace and rubbing his muscular broad back. Frankie’s as big as Joel, both are much bigger than you, and warmth spreads deep in your core when his scent envelops you just like his body.
You smile when you notice him still wearing your favorite cologne.
Soon your body craves something more than just a hug so your lips part and a soft whimper escapes your mouth. You know well that your pretty noises always make him wild.
Your ex reacts immediately and you feel an open mouth kiss on your neck.
“Frankie.” Your tone is scolding yet fake and you sigh deeply, brushing his chest with your barely covered breasts. Your ex grumbles at the sensation and then whispers, his voice already strained with lust.
“I miss you so much.”
You hug him tighter and feel his hot breath on your cleavage when he leans lower to plant another kiss on your collarbone. His cap slides off his head and falls on the floor but he doesn’t care. Looking down at his beautiful dark curls you run your fingers through his hair, scratching his scalp with your nails and Frankie almost roars against your chest. His arms pull you closer to him, even though your torso is already flush with his. He slightly lifts you off the seat and you tug at his hair in warning, steel in your tone.
“Put me down, Frankie.”
He listens to you like he always does but your roughness earns another loud groan from him. You smile, imagining how hard his cock must be now.
Frankie leaves soft kisses on your clothed chest, your belly and soon his head is resting on your lap, while his arms are wrapped around your hips as if he’s scared you’ll float away.
You’re stroking his head, marveling at the silky waves of his hair, shining even in the dim light, and slightly tilt your hips up when his prominent nose pokes your mound through the thin fabric of your dress. As if thinking about the same thing, Frankie breathes in full lungs of your arousal and a guttural moan vibrates against your covered pussy.
“I miss her, mi amor,” you barely hear him mumble and you sigh. Recently satiated by Joels’s pounding, your core gets reignited with sticky desire and you bite your lip, your dark gaze sliding over his sexy shoulders and his head, with his face hidden. You part your legs just slightly, letting him closer to your needy pussy.
Like a dog sniffing out his favorite treat, Frankie’s nuzzling your lap, and his lips and nose are brushing against your thighs, your lower belly, your cunt through the fabric.
You gasp when his fingers dig into your soft hips a bit too hard and he hastily relaxes his grip and looks up at you.
“Sorry, princesa.” His blown out eyes are filled with guilt and want and you give him a smile, cupping his scruffy cheek.
“It’s ok, baby, just be careful with me, ‘k? No marks.”
“Yes, yes, of course, mi amor,” he murmurs, returning his head back onto your lap.
After a couple of minutes in his arms, the fire in your core morphs into an ache and you squirm under him with impatience.
“I should go, Frankie. Joel’s gonna worry.”
“No, please,” he almost whines, hugging you tighter. “I—,” he stumbles.
“Yes, baby?”
“Can I —? Can I see her?”
He’s staring up at you and you tilt your head to the side, faking confusion.
“Who?”
He knows that you understand but you need him to say it. So he plays by your rules. Like he always does.
“Can I see your beautiful pussy?” He sits up, facing you, his huge body squeezed in between the wheel and his seat. His bulge looks even more prominent now and you gush at the thought that he must be leaking into his boxers.
“Oh, Frankie, baby, you know I have a boyfriend. I can’t.”
His pleading eyes are fixed on you as he begs,
“Please, mi amor, just a look. I miss her so much. I miss you. Please.”
With another fake sigh you glance out of the window to check the surroundings, and after finding the street empty, you turn back to him.
“Ok, just for a second. Get in the back.”
“Thank you, mi amor,” he mumbles, hurrying out of the truck.
You squeeze between the front seats and sit down, turning to Frankie as he joins you at the back of the car. Your ex impatiently grabs the hem of your dress but you stop him.
“No one should know about this, understand?”
Frankie nods eagerly, mumbling yes’s like a junkie before getting a hit of his drug and you let him lift your dress and expose your naked pussy.
Your hands clutch the dress against your waist, and your legs are pressed together but it’s evident how wet you’re - your folds shine with Joel’s cum and your slick arousal.
Frankie’s breath hitches and his broad chest expands, straining his shirt.
“Beautiful,” he praises as his hand flies to the apex of your thighs.
“Nah-ah”, you grab his big paw midair and place it on top of your thigh.
“No touching. You wanted to look, right?”
“Yeah,” Frankie halfheartedly agrees, furrowed brows showing his discontent. “Then at least open your legs, princesa. Need to see her better.”
You try to contain your excitement as you tut at your ex,
“You’re so naughty, baby.”
You slowly part your thighs wide enough for your pussy to bloom in front of his hungry eyes.
Frankie’s mouth goes slack and his gaze clouds up when he sees your glistening pussy lips, puffy clit and your inviting hole. You shift a little on the seat, leaving wetness on the leather, and when you clench your walls in anticipation, you both see a little bit of pearly white liquid slide out of your entrance.
“Is this…?” Frankie mumbles, not tearing his eyes off your recently used cunt.
“Yeah. I know you’ve been watching Joel fuck me so don’t pretend that you’re surprised. My pussy’s full of his cum,” you say with defiance and wait for his reaction.
Frankie’s softly growls and his hand on your thigh contracts into a fist.
“Shhh, big boy,” you purr, bringing your fingers to your pussy. You gather some of Joel’s seed, leaking from your hole, and spread the creamy juices over your hardened clit. You rub yourself a few times and when a soft moan escapes your lips, Frankie echoes you.
“Feels so good,” you admit and begin pleasuring yourself in front of your ex.
“Jesus— fuck,” Frankie mumbles. His eyes are obsidian, forehead glistening with sweat with a few wet curls stuck to it. With his gaze tormented and pained, he reaches down to his belt.
“What are you doing, baby?” you ask, pausing your ministrations.
Frankie freezes and replies, stumbling over his words,
“I need — need to take my dick out. It hurts.”
“Ok, Frankie.” He hastily unzips his jeans when you add, “But don’t touch it.”
Frankie groans but then sighs with relief when he pulls the waistband of his boxers down, tucks it under his balls and his cock springs free. It hits his shirt and leaves a dark wet spot.
His member is throbbing, the dark pink tip, glossy and fat, is oozing his clear need for you and you lick your lips, enticing the man even more.
Frankie follows your orders and lets his cock bob and drip pre-fuck juice all over his balls and jeans while you moan again, tracing your sopping hole.
Your ex rubs his cheek, focused on the place he desperately wants to claim with his tongue and cock and croaks after wetting his plush lips,
“Let me kiss her, mi amor.”
Bingo.
That’s what you wanted as soon as you saw him at the bar today. If you cared to admit maybe you already dreamed about it when you noticed him stalking you last week. But what’s a prize without a game? Now it feels extra special.
With a little smile, you throw off your shoe and plant your bare foot on the seat, opening your thighs wider for him.
“You gonna taste another man’s cum on my pussy? just to kiss her?”
Frankie’s eyes snap up to yours and you see his defeat, his despair, his love in their depths.
He nods silently.
“Aww, you’re so sweet,” you coo. “Ok, baby, go ahead.”
With a grunt Frankie bends down, slowly adjusting his position between your legs so it’s comfortable for you, and when his soft warm lips kiss your cold cunt, you flutter your eyes shut with a pleased mewl.
Frankie’s always been the best at pussy eating. Joel often goes down on you but it’s different. He demands your ecstasy, claims your pussy with his mouth, makes you scream when his rough tongue impatiently rubs at your clit. His movements say ‘Give me’ while he’s eating you out.
But Frankie. He’s whispering “Take it”. Take your time, take your bliss, take my lips and tongue and use them, let yourself drown in pleasure. He laps at you softly and languidly, licking your pussy like it’s the most delicate flower, the most delicious fruit.
You grab your phone out of your pocket and text Joel that you met a friend by accident and need to catch up.
Frankie doesn’t see any of it, he’s gone, fully concentrated on pleasuring your soft cunt. His hands are gently holding your thighs apart, his face buried in your pussy.
“How’s she?” you whisper, raking your fingers through his silky curls and tugging on them slightly to get his attention when he doesn’t respond right away.
“I taste him on you,” Frankie grumbles, parting from your sex, “‘m gonna get it off you.”
He returns to work, making out with your folds and sucking the other man’s cum off your clit and you already feel yourself close to unraveling.
“Yes, like that, baby. My pussy misses you.”
You feel Frankie smile against your cunt before he begins stroking your clit with his tongue again and again until you cry out his name into your hand, while your hole clamps around nothing, walls contract and release another portion of Joel’s thick load.
Trembling from the orgasm that’s rippling through your body, you watch Frankie lap at your entrance, drinking the runaway seed and your slick, prolonging your shattering climax with this depraved act.
He doesn’t stop kissing your pussy until you get overstimulated and try to close your legs.
“Did so good for me, Frankie,” you murmur through heavy breaths.
“Thank you, mi amor,” your ex gruffs, sitting up, his face blushed, the gaze hazy and drunk on you.
He’s shivering from the arousal, his engorged cock generously leaking precum, and you take mercy on the man.
You scoot closer to him, wrap your hand around his hot cock and start slowly pumping it. It’s soaked with his juices so your palm slides easily over his hard length but to make him absolutely wild you gather some slick off your cunt and rub the underside of his cock where his tip meets the shaft with your wet thumb.
Frankie moans like a needy slut and in a second the first rope of cum shoots out of his slit.
You hastily lower your head, take the head between your lips and start drinking his load as he’s feeding it to you, jerking and thrusting his hips up, while your hand is gliding over his shaft.
You swallow everything to the last drop and lick it all over, cleaning his cock and earning a jerk of overstimulation from your ex. Then you sit up, wiping your mouth curled into a satisfied smile.
“Fuck, princesa, I love you,” Frankie breathes out falling onto the backrest, his cock softening but still standing at attention. You smile at his confession and your hunger finally seems satisfied.
You begin fixing your clothes and he watches you for a few seconds before tucking his cock into his jeans and then shifting closer to you. He gets into your space and you feel his warm hand pressed to your lower back. His huge frame is looming over you and you look up into his chocolaty eyes. They seem sad again.
“I want you back, mi amor—I... I need you.”
You sigh deeply and shake your head, taking his big hand in yours.
“You know it’s over, Frankie. I’m sorry, but I’m with Joel now.”
“Why? Why can’t you be with me? Why is he better?” He asks, furrowing his brows and leaning even closer to you.
“Baby,” you whine, averting your gaze from his puppy eyes and tracing hearts on his hand. “We talked about it. He’s …he’s like whiskey, he’s rough and heady and… you’re like hot chocolate, Frankie. You’re sweet but you’re too saccharine for me.”
“I can get rough with you, princesa.”
You giggle and shake your head.
“It’s not who you are, baby. And it’s ok. Someone will love you for it one day.”
You hear him sniff before he yanks his hand away from yours.
You know you should leave, break it off once and for all but the sick, mean, greedy side of your soul wants to pull him back as soon as you have pushed him away.
“Frankie,” you purr and grab his arm as he’s about to get out of the car. A slight touch from you is all it takes to stop him and he turns to you, his eyes glossy, his expression defeated.
You get closer to him and take his face between your hands. To kiss him goodbye. To poison him more.
He falls into the kiss head first, embracing you tightly, pressing his torso to yours so close it’s difficult to breathe.
You both moan against each other’s lips and you pull on his hair with passion and possessiveness. His tongue is licking into your mouth and you’re tasting yourself, sensing a faint trace of Joel’s cum. It’s so sick and twisted that another surge of arousal burns your core.
You make out for some time until you part from his lips.
“I should go, Frankie,” you whisper, snaking out of his embrace.
Frankie’s arms fall and he nods, looking lost and inebriated. You use this moment to hastily get out of his car.
“Bye, baby,” you chirp, smiling at him, but before you close the door he wakes up from the trance and calls for you.
“I won’t stop, mi amor,” he admits with determination in his shaky voice. “I’m gonna keep coming. I need you.”
“I know,” you say with a fake sigh and close the door.
You’re walking to get Tom, feeling Frankie’s eyes on your back, and trying to calm down, you bite your lip, but the excitement overwhelms you and soon a triumphant smile spreads across your face.
Thank you for reading!💖

The second Severus walked into your shared bedroom, his hands were on you. It started with his hand caressing your back, guiding you to the bed. Then when your legs hit the edge of the bed, his other hand snuck its way to you chin, before his lips connected with yours.
You hummed into the kiss in content. Severus wasted no time in separating your lips with his tongue and exploring your wet cavern. A moan ripped through your throat as his tongue dominated the kiss. His hand moved from your back to your hips, before guiding you to lay back on the bed.
Severus was careful and caring, not daring to harm his wife or his future child. He carefully crawled on top of you, starting to love on every piece of exposed skin you had to offer. His tender touch began to removed all your clothing, until you are completely bare in front of the man you loved.
“So beautiful…” he groaned, as he stood up and his eyes raked over your figure.
Severus then quickly undressed, his eyes never leaving yours. Under his intense gaze, you became flushed and attempted to cover yourself in embarrassment. Severus was quick to cock his brow at you, and consequently pounced on you, grabbing your hands and holding them above your head.
“Don’t hide yourself from me, Darling… You’re so stunning, it’s a crime…” He husked in your ear, sending shivers down your spine.
You squirmed against his hold, while the man began his naked assault down your body. He left litters of kisses and bites and bruises along your frame, before he reached your swollen belly. Severus then looked up at you with sparkling eyes. He licked his lips and had a wicked smirk. You squirmed even more, as his hands moved to hold your hips down and his mouth prepared to taste you.
“S-Sev p-please…” you whimpered, thrashing back and forth in desperation, all Severus’ teasing having properly riled you up. You stared to tease your nipples for some amount of relief.
Severus didn’t need to be told twice. His hands suddenly held your hips in a vice grip, making your gasp. That would leave a bruise along with the dozens of other ones he’d made tonight… Then you felt his hot breath on your cunt, and a second later, Severus was diving into your previous pussy.
You cried out in pleasure, as the man held nothing back, giving your cunt his all. One of your hands immediately shot to his head of dark curls. His tongue was unrelenting, lapping away at our folds, and quickly diving into your cunt. His thumb drew up to your clit, rubbing tight and swift circles against your bundle of nerves.
“Oh God SEV—!” You cried out, your head being thrown back against the sheets as your eyes screwed shut tight.
It turned so rough and overwhelming so quickly that the fingers teasing your nipples went limp, unable to think or do anything else than take what Severus was giving you. Your hips jolted upward and into his touch in needy desperation.
Severus’ grip on your hips only tightened in response, keeping your hips from effectively suffocating him, as his tongue was so addicting… He groaned into your cunt as he felt your walls clench around his tongue, which only made you wetter.
After his tongue had effectively done its job of getting you dizzy and soaked, he pulled away slightly. Your head shot up and you immediately whined at the man in need.
“Tsk tsk tsk, you know me better than that, Darling…” Severus chuckled, before sliding two of his girthy fingers into your cunt.
“AhHhhHHh bloody helll—UghhhHh…!!” You groan out, your eyes rolling in the back of your head.
Severus couldn’t help the smirk plastered across his face, as his digits fucked your pussy rough and deep, just like you needed. As he did this, Severus leaned forward and began placing kisses upon your swollen belly.
“Look at me, love…” Severus husked.
You struggled to lift your gaze and look at Severus, as his fingers were curling and scissoring your cunt so deep and so good. The man could see your impending high in your eyes, and it made him swell with pride, only spurring him on even more.
“You look so good with my baby inside you, my love…” Severus said in his low, sultry tone.
God that tone… that tone could make you cum alone…
“Mmm Sev…!!!” You squeaked, as his fingers curled inside you, hitting your g-spot over and over again, your hand from your chest swiftly moving to grip the sheets tight.
“What do you need, Darling…? Use your words…” Severus husked.
“Cum!! Make me cum dee GOD please Sevvv…!!” You cried out, your body so on edge and shaking, at the behest of merely two of his fingers.
“Good girl…” Severus hummed, “Cum for me.” He husked, sliding a third finger into your heat and fucking you at a relentless pace.
The coil in the depths of your body snapped as all three of his digits curled against your clit with rough, calculating intention. Waves of pleasure crashed over you, as your body convulsed and the walls of your cunt clenched around Severus’s fingers.
Your couldn’t bear the intense pleasure, your head rolling back against the sheets, your eyes shutting tight, not being able to keep your gaze on your man. But Severus let it go, knowing how sensitive your body was from carrying his child. He merely fucked you through your orgasm, going now at a gentle pace, while tenderly kissing your swollen belly.
After your cunt stopped clenching fervorously and your waves of pleasure began to subside, you were finally able to take a breath. Your walls were still fluttering as Severus pulled his fingers out of you gently. He immediately showered you with praise, telling you how good you were for him.
Severus then made his way up your figure, showering your shaky body with light kisses along the way, before his lips connected with yours once more in light but passionate kiss. You were panting into the kiss and afterward. But you had the biggest smile on your face the entire time.
Severus laid beside you, embracing your frame and not planning on letting go anytime soon, also taking the moment to lick his fingers clean of your juices, making you giggle lightly.
“You’re incorrigible, Sev…” you giggled, swatting him lightly, before pulling the man in for another kiss, “and hot…” you murmured lustfully against his lips.
“Haven’t had enough, have we…?” Severus teased you into the kiss.
You pulled away with a smirk and a certain look on your face.
“Of you?” You quipped, before running your tongue from Severus’ exposed collarbone all the way up his chin and into his mouth,
“Never, Severus…” you husked with shining eye matching his dark, lustful pupils.

He takes your hand without looking at you. He had been lounging with his green Nike Killshots up on the desk when Brandon, the receptionist, brought you in. He had also been playing a translucent orange Nintendo 64; now the game is paused and Mario is frozen on the screen of the 24-inch television, deep underwater and in pursuit of a gold star affixed to the tail of a giant eel.
“Nice to meet you,” Aegon says without much interest. You’re smiling, not that he notices. Then he nods at the receptionist. “Thanks, Brando.”
“Oh, no problem at all!” Brandon trills buoyantly, pulling out your chair for you as Aegon flops back into his own. “Can I bring anything? Iced coffee, matcha latte, Perrier?”
“I’m good,” Aegon says, glancing at your resume where it rests on the desk amongst framed photographs, manilla folders, takeout menus, gum wrappers rolled into tiny balls. You have the impression he hasn’t read it. Nonetheless, you are still smiling.
“How about you, hon?” Brandon asks you.
You don’t want to make him run to a Starbucks or anything. “Um…I’ll take a Perrier, please. That’s easy for you, right? You can just grab it out of the minifridge in the lobby?”
“You betcha!” Brandon darts out of the office and returns in ten seconds. In the elapsed time, Aegon has not looked at you once. Instead, he slouches in his chair and thumps his Nikes onto the desk, sighs, and gazes longingly at the television screen. You sit up straight with your hands folded in your lap. You have dressed in business casual attire for the occasion: a modest yellow sundress and TOMS wedges, warm understated eyeshadow, sparkly champagne pink Dreamer by Anastasia Beverly Hills, matte brown Hope by Huda Beauty. Brandon returns and hands you a green glass bottle of Perrier, ice cold and slippery with condensation, and closes the door behind him as he leaves.
“Look, I’ll be honest,” Aegon tells you, picking up your resume and scanning it blandly. “I don’t want to waste your time, but I’m really not in the market for new clients. Brando made this appointment before I told him that, and then he really didn’t want to cancel it. He liked your resume or something. So I’ll hear you out but don’t expect much.”
“Oh. Well…I really appreciate you taking the time to see me anyway!”
He gives you a swift sideways look as if suspicious of your enthusiasm. It’s not that complicated; you haven’t had an audition in weeks, and none of the other six agents you’ve seen have signed you. Aegon Targaryen’s drab little office in one half of a duplex in Elysian Park is a relative paradise. His blonde hair is gelled back from his face. He wears dark jeans, a teal t-shirt, and a wrinkled tan sport coat jacket thrown carelessly overtop. You’ve Googled him; he’s thirty-five, so a decade older than you. “Where are you from?”
That’s on your resume he hasn’t read. “Minnesota.”
Aegon’s eyebrows shoot up. “No wonder you left. City or country?”
“A town called Apple Valley, it’s about a half hour outside of Minneapolis.”
“So you’re not a nepo baby.”
“A what?”
“Your parents aren’t connected to the entertainment industry in any way.”
“Oh right, no, they definitely aren’t. My dad’s a cardiologist. My mom worked as a waitress while he was in med school, and now she just has a lot of Akitas.”
Aegon flips over your resume and skims the back. “Are they supportive of you being out here?”
“Um…” You chuckle uneasily. “Not really. My older sister’s a pharmacist and my brother’s in law school, so I am definitely the underachieving child. But they’re not too mean about it. They’re just waiting for me to get it out of my system.”
“Law school where?”
“Michigan.”
“State or University?”
“University.”
“So you’re really smart,” Aegon says. He has begun to fold your resume into a paper airplane. “Intelligence is genetic. If your siblings are book smart, you probably are too.”
You smile and shrug, not knowing what to say. “I guess so.”
“Do you have a boyfriend back in Minnesota who’s calling you every other day trying to convince you to come home and marry him and have two kids and a Goldendoodle?”
You laugh. “No, no boyfriend. I mean, I have an ex-boyfriend there. I see him sometimes when I fly home to visit. But he’s not standing in the way of anything.”
Aegon nods like you’ve passed a test. “Do your parents send you money?”
“Yeah, but not a lot. They don’t want to encourage me. I work at a Cold Stone Creamery in Harbor Gateway, it’s just a few blocks away from my apartment. I have a roommate, she’s trying to be an actress too.”
“Ice cream,” he muses. He launches your paper airplane resume; it sails across the room, hits the mint green wall, nosedives to the floor. “Do you like working there?”
“It’s fine. It’s a paycheck. Back in the spring I was doing after-school programs for Mad Science, driving all over Watts and Southeast teaching children about bugs and magnets and outer space, so that was really cool.”
Aegon looks up at you, brow furrowed. It’s the first time you’ve had his full attention. “You were doing after-school programs in Watts?”
“Yeah, it was awesome. The kids were so fun. But I needed something that was more flexible so I could be free during the middle of the day for auditions and stuff.”
He blinks at you a few times. “Why do you want to be an actress?”
You stall, twisting open your Perrier and taking a gulp. “That’s a hard question.”
“It’s literally the most obvious question. If you can’t answer it, I don’t know what you’re doing here.”
“Well, I never wanted to be an actress,” you say. “I just kind of…am one. I can’t read a book without my expressions and my posture changing to match what’s going on in the story. I can’t watch a movie without feeling like I’m in that world with the characters, or, or, or imagining how I would have delivered the lines differently. And then even when I’m doing something totally unrelated…math homework, walking my mom’s Akitas, making ice cream…I envision where the cameras would be if I was being filmed, which way I would tilt my face to catch the light. It’s something I think about all the time and I can’t turn it off. So how am I supposed to be a doctor or a lawyer and spend my entire life trying to avoid every thought that occurs to me organically? It sounds like torture.”
Aegon stares at you, a long golden silence as daylight pours in through the windows facing the east. Then he drops his green Nikes to the floor and straightens up in his chair, studying you. He points to the windows. “Look that way.”
You do, closing your eyes when the glare is too bright.
“Now the other side of the room.”
You turn to the mint green wall where your paper airplane resume rests on the hardwood floor like the wreckage of the Titanic sits at the bottom of the ocean.
“Stand up.”
You set your bottle of Perrier on his cluttered desk and obey, but with some reluctance. “Please don’t ask me to bend over.”
Aegon snorts a laugh. “That’s not what I’m doing. I want you to go to the door and then walk back to me like you’re angry.”
“I have a bunch of acting reels on YouTube—”
“I don’t want to see your acting reels. I want to see you in front of me right now.”
“Okay,” you agree. You go to the closed door, take a moment to shake off the real world, and then walk to his desk, your footsteps heavy and your eyes hard. Aegon’s dark blue gaze follows you and does not waver.
“Look at me like you’re sad.”
You imagine he’s said something horrible to you, a husband who’s broken a vow, a doctor with a grim prognosis.
“Good!” Aegon says, animated now. “You get it. It’s in the eyebrows, not the mouth.” He gestures to your chair. “Now sit down like you don’t want to be here.”
You move sluggishly, like you hope someone will interrupt you; your eyes float boredly around the room. Then you plop heavily into the chair and stare at Aegon, a little vacuously inane, a little resentful like a petulant teenager. You pretend to chew gum you don’t have.
Aegon smiles, amused. “If I’d asked you to bend over, would you have done it?”
“I’d like to say no, but I’m pretty desperate.”
He snickers, shaking his head. “Don’t let a man make you uncomfortable. Don’t believe anyone if they say they want to drive you somewhere to see you audition or take your picture and nobody else you know is going. When you go to clubs and parties, watch the bartender make your drink and never put it down until you’re done. Don’t get talked into plastic surgery. Yes, that includes Botox and fillers.”
You sip your Perrier. “Well, I might get a boob job.”
“Don’t get a boob job.”
“Why not? Basically everybody here’s had one. I think Taylor Swift got two.”
“You don’t need a boob job,” Aegon says impatiently.
“I’m not sure you have all the knowledge to make an informed decision about that.”
“I am so sick of this bullshit,” he mutters, pushing the takeout menus and manilla folders around on his desk but leaving it no tidier. “People cutting up their perfectly normal bodies…people stuffing themselves full of poison…so afraid to look human they end up like motherfucking Bratz dolls.” He sighs and peers up at you again. “Just so you know, I’m getting out of L.A. I’m only going to be here until September. So by then you’ll have to find someone else. But I can get you started, I guess.”
You are beaming. “You’ll be my agent?”
“Yeah, but like I said—”
You squeal and leap to your feet, taking his left hand with both of yours and shaking it vigorously, Aegon gaping up at you. “Thank you! Thank you so much! I am going to be the best client you’ve ever had, I will never ever complain, I will do anything you say, I will audition with snakes and tarantulas, I will swim with sharks.”
Aegon grins, perhaps despite himself. “I don’t think that will be necessary.”
“Why are you leaving in September?”
“I’m getting married. Figured I’d do the whole settling down and living a quiet life thing.” He spins around one of the photographs on his desk so you can see it. In the frame, Aegon is standing on the edge of the Grand Canyon with a woman around his age, tall and willowy, long thick dark hair, flowing white sundress, wearing black aviator sunglasses to match his.
“That’s exciting!” You love weddings. “And you two look so happy together!”
“Yeah, Becca’s pretty great.” Aegon takes a stick of Juicy Fruit out of a pack on his desk, shoves it into his mouth, distractedly rolls the white and red wrapper into a ball. “She’s a real caretaker type. Always trying to do my laundry and pack me lunches and bake pies and whatever.”
“And that’s something you look for in a woman?” you tease lightheartedly. Aegon gives you a lightning-quick annoyed glance, and your smile abruptly dies. “I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to be rude. Please don’t fire me.”
He chuckles and stands up from his desk, his hands in the pockets of his tan jacket. Mario is still underwater, forgotten on the frozen television screen. “Let’s go grab some lunch.”
“Right now?” You slide your phone out of your purse—crossbody, wildflowers, Patricia Nash but found at T.J.Maxx—to check the time. “It’s like 10:30 a.m.”
“They’ll be open by the time we walk to Chinatown.”
“Okay!” Lunch can only be a good thing. Still clutching your Perrier, you trot after Aegon into the small lobby, scuffed wood floor and cheap IKEA couches. Behind the reception desk, Brandon is making notes in a planner using one of those pens with a fake flower on top. He looks up at you and Aegon as you pass by.
“Brando, I’m taking an early lunch,” Aegon tells him.
Brandon is hopeful. “Are you signing her?”
“Yeah, but it’s just until—”
“Oh for cute!” Brandon cries out, and Aegon is stupefied. But you know exactly what Brandon means. He must be from Minnesota too. So that’s why he liked my resume. Los Angeles is kind of like the military; once you’re swimming in this multinational fishbowl, everyone from your home state is a friend.
“What part?” you ask, smiling.
“Duluth.”
“Bet the Pacific Ocean beats Lake Superior any day.”
“Have you been to Venice Beach yet?”
“Oh yeah. Heaven on earth.”
“Good luck with everything,” Brandon says, and then he winks. “I hope you get to stay.”
Stay in L.A. Stay here chasing the dream. Me too. Then you follow Aegon through the front door and down the concrete steps to the sidewalk, out into breezy mid-70s air and sunlight peeking from behind pure white tufts of cumulus clouds. You can hear music and dogs barking. The street is lined with quaint midcentury houses with metal fences and humming air conditioning units in the windows; any businessowners here are hanging their own shingle, beauticians and pet groomers and bakers. On the horizon, you can see the silvery skyscrapers of Downtown.
“So about that resume I clearly didn’t read,” Aegon says as he walks with his hands in his pockets. “Have you done any meaningful acting work since you’ve been out here?”
Why lie? “No.”
He gives you a shellshocked look like this is the worst case scenario. “Well…I appreciate your honesty. So you’ll take anything.”
“Absolutely anything. I mean…” You take an anxious swig of your Perrier. “I’d really rather not be naked.”
He’s laughing again. You’re not sure if he thinks you’re funny or ridiculous. “I’m not going to pitch you for roles that require nudity.”
You are relieved. “Okay. Cool.”
“Where did you act before?”
“After college I did some short films for grad students…they’re all pretty terrible, I’ll admit it, but I didn’t write them…and I was in a bunch of shows at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis. And I worked in the gift shop.”
“Guthrie?” Aegon says. “Like Woody Guthrie?”
“No, common mistake. A completely different Guthrie. Some English lord who was a director.”
“Which shows were you in?”
You describe your roles, all supporting, none leading: Romeo and Juliet, Othello, A Streetcar Named Desire, Pride and Prejudice, Julius Caesar, Anastasia, Frankenstein, August: Osage County, Richard III, Dracula. Aegon listens but he watches you too, the way you stride in your TOMS wedges over the cracked and uneven sidewalk, the way you use your hands too much when you talk, a habit you’re trying to break. His eyes on you—that deep and tumultuous blue—do not feel like a leer, and you think you’ve acquired enough experience in your past three months in Los Angeles to know the difference. Aegon’s gaze is no longer disinterested but methodical, practiced, ever-seeking, notes transcribed not in ink but electrical impulses and ineffable cyclones of neurotransmitters.
“Dracula,” Aegon jokes. “Vampire experience, huh? Maybe we could get you in the Twilight reboot.”
“Is that really happening?”
“It is, but it’s going to be animated. So it’s only voice acting. And I think we can aim higher than that.” He pauses at an intersection and looks lost for a few seconds, then remembers the way and bears to the right. This street is busier, hectic with shops and pedestrians, teenagers on skateboards, vendors advertising their fruit smoothies and boba teas. Red banners printed with twisted dragons and Chinatown 2025 hang from the streetlights. Towering palm trees cast shadows in the shape of windblown leaves. “Do you get along with your roommate?”
This is a random question. You finish your Perrier and discard the glass bottle in a trashcan. “Yeah, she’s really nice, we’re friends. Why?”
“Good. Housing instability is a huge source of stress for young actors, just wanted to make sure you weren’t in danger of ending up sleeping under a bridge.”
“I might be if her boyfriend ever gets a job and can pay half of the rent.”
“Well if it happens, let me know. I can help get you set up somewhere.” Aegon yanks his phone out of his jeans pocket to check the time. “We’ve got a few more minutes to kill,” he says, and ducks into a market strewn with crates of produce: bitter melon, bok choy, pears, pomelos, dragon fruit, peaches, plums, durian, sweet potatoes, kumquats, lychees. You follow after Aegon as he weaves through narrow, crowded aisles, inspecting the wares and waving to shopkeepers that he recognizes. He asks you as he points to a dozen cardboard boxes overflowing with apples: “Does this make you homesick for Appletown?”
“Apple Valley,” you correct him, laughing. “And not quite. I’d rather have Venice Beach.”
“What’s the state apple of Minnesota?”
“I have no idea.”
“Let’s find out.” He uses his phone to Google it. “Honeycrisp.”
“Oh neat! Those are pretty good.”
“Are they?” He searches until amongst the Granny Smiths and Fujis and Golden Delicious apples he finds a box labelled Honeycrisp. “I don’t think I’ve ever tried one.”
“Now’s your chance.”
Aegon picks up a large, glossy apple, pinkish-red and striped with yellow, and takes a massive bite. Juice dribbles down his mouth and chin; he wipes it away with the back of his hand. “I’m going to pay for it,” he assures you when you look startled. He chews, deliberating. “This apple sucks. This is a flop apple.”
“You are blinded by your anti-Minnesota prejudice.”
“It’s boring.”
“How can an apple be boring?”
“It’s like…too sweet. Not tart enough. Not as good as a Braeburn or a Pink Lady. Here.” Aegon tosses the Honeycrisp apple and you catch it. Then, when you stare at the sizeable bitemark he’s left in the fruit: “Wait, I mean, you don’t have to eat that part, obviously. Try the other side—”
But you’ve already bitten over the same spot, enlarging the wound, your tongue grazing the notches left by Aegon’s teeth. You giggle as you lick juice from your lips. “It’s so good. You’re delusional.”
Aegon watches you for a while before he speaks. In the meantime, you finish eating the apple with quick chomps. “Are you medicated?” he says.
“What? No, why?”
“You just seem…I don’t know. Bizarrely happy.”
“Why wouldn’t I be happy? I’m in Los Angeles, I’m living the dream, I have a brand new agent. My life is amazing.”
“Okay,” Aegon says uncertainly; but he’s smiling. When you pitch the apple core back to him, he catches it. Then he grabs a plastic bag off a hook and drops one fresh Honeycrisp apple inside. “We’ll let Brando be the tiebreaker.” He shows two fingers to a shopkeeper and pays in cash. You steal a glimpse of your phone; it’s just after 11:00 a.m.
Down the street from the market is a set of steps leading into what appears to be a basement. Instead, when Aegon opens the red door, on the other side is a restaurant already filling up with patrons. The tables are round and covered with crimson tablecloths; at each seat is one of those paper Chinese zodiac calendars with all twelve animals and their descriptions.
“Good morning Mr. Aegon!” a tall middle-aged waitress says warmly and ushers you both to a table by a large fish tank with opalescent pebbles lining the bottom. From the other side of the glass, colossal black-and-orange oscars gawp menacingly. The waitress passes you a menu.
“No,” Aegon says, snatching the menu out of your hands before you can open it. “Order what you’d normally get.”
Obediently, you turn to the waitress. “Do you have moo goo gai pan?”
She nods. “White rice or fried rice?”
“White rice, please.”
“Mr. Aegon?” the waitress says.
“Boneless spare ribs with fried rice. And a pot of tea, and two wanton soups. Thanks, Lanying.”
She hurries away to tend to other customers. You ask Aegon playfully: “Did I make the right choice?”
“You did. Naturally low-calorie but high in vitamins and protein. If you’d ordered the sesame chicken and only taken two bites I’d know that you probably have an eating disorder. But now I’m optimistic.”
“And you got the most unhealthy thing on the menu. What does that mean?”
“Life is short. I try to keep it delicious.” He taps the side of the fish tank; one of the oscars attempts to maul him through the glass. “Do you exercise?”
“Not by choice. I force myself to walk to and from work, and that’s the best I can do.”
Aegon seems alarmed. “I don’t think you should be wandering all over Harbor Gateway. Especially not at night.”
“There are always other people around.”
“Yeah, and some of them might mug you.” The waitress arrives with a pot of tea and two small, handleless cups. Aegon fills both with tea, slides one to you, and reaches for the little plastic container of sweeteners on the table. “Splenda?” Aegon guesses correctly and then flings several yellow packets across the table to you.
“Can I ask you something now?”
“Sure, go ahead,” Aegon says. The waitress returns with two bowls of wanton soup and makes conversation with Aegon briefly. She inquires about his health, his parents, his business. You wait until she leaves to ask your question.
“Why did you stop acting?” You Googled Aegon before your meeting, so you know some abbreviated version of his story: a wealthy and prominent family in the production industry, several years spent as an actor beginning when he was around your age, a shadowy withdrawal into working as an agent with a practice so small and off the beaten path that it must be deliberate. He could have coasted his whole life on effortless roles in Lifetime movies or Hulu original series. Instead he chose obscurity, and a drab little office in half of a duplex on a run-down street in Elysian Park, and Brandon the receptionist as his sole employee, and clients who are nobodies like you.
Aegon slurps broth from his spoon, stalling. He’s caught off-guard; you can tell by the way deep troubled grooves appear in his brow. That’s part of being a good actor. You have to learn how to read people until you can feel their emotions as if they are your own, until you can mimic them so convincingly your own pulse quickens or your stomach drops. “Um…well I think I got sick of how superficial it was, all the obsessing over height and weight and wrinkles and who’s in and who’s out, the unwinnable contest of who can be perfect the longest. We’re supposed to play real people but we’re not supposed to be real people, you know? And there are just a lot of things about this place that can leave people jaded and fucked up in all sorts of ways we weren’t before. And I don’t want that to happen to you, so I’ll try to make it as good of an experience as possible.” He smiles. It seems genuine. “I don’t really miss it. I’m a better agent than I was an actor.”
“And you’re not even that good of an agent.”
He laughs and shakes his head, just watching you, just trying to figure you out. He looks down at his Chinese zodiac calendar. “What are you?”
“I’m a dragon.”
Aegon reads aloud: “You are eccentric and your life complex. You have a very passionate nature and abundant health. I could see that. Kinda sounds like you.”
“Which animal is yours, the horse?”
“Yeah, 1990.”
You study his description. “Popular and attractive to the opposite sex. You are often ostentatious and impatient. You need people. I don’t think you’re very ostentatious.”
“But no qualms with the other parts?”
“No, the rest seems accurate.”
He stares at you, those overcast blue eyes curious, searching, maybe a little puzzled. When the waitress brings out the entrees, Aegon spears a piece of his boneless spare ribs with his clean fork and offers it to you. “Here, you want to try this?”
You really shouldn’t, but you make an exception. You take his fork and eat: saccharine blood red sauce, glistening gelatinous fat. It’s one of the most delicious bites of food you’ve ever tasted…and then it’s gone. You warn Aegon as you return his fork: “You’re going to die early.”
“I know,” he says, watching the oscars scowl at him through the glass.
You walk back through Chinatown together, Aegon swinging around his plastic bag with his Honeycrisp apple for Brandon, you listening as he tells you what each shop is known for and points out a temple dedicated to the goddess of the ocean. Now the sky is clear and the sun is high, and hot, and blinding when you aren’t under the shade of awnings or palm trees.
You say cheerfully once you have returned in Elysian Park and you can see Aegon’s office, a blue neon sign that reads Targ Talent Agency pulsing in the window: “So do you have any fun plans for Father’s Day?”
“Nope. My dad’s dead.”
“Oh my God.” You’re so mortified you almost trip over your own feet, your TOMS wedges stumbling over the pavement. Aegon instinctively reaches out to steady you, and you grasp his hand gratefully. “I am so sorry.”
“It’s fine. It happened when I was in college so I’m used to it.”
“He must have been young.” Forties? Fifties?
“Yeah,” Aegon says shortly, letting go of you. “Are you doing anything special?”
“My parents are paying to fly me back to Minnesota. But I won’t be gone long, I promise. It’s just a few days.”
Aegon smirks roguishly. “Going to make time to see that ex-boyfriend while you’re there?”
You smile, a little bashful, a little mischievous. “I might.”
He chuckles. “Enjoy. Don’t get pregnant and ruin all your hopes and dreams.”
“Oh no, don’t worry, I can’t take the pill because it made me suicidally depressed but we use condoms.”
Aegon is bewildered, his jaw hanging open. “You don’t overshare like this in auditions, do you?”
“No, sorry, I thought you were asking me a question.”
“It wasn’t a question, it was a comment.”
“Oh. I thought it was a question.”
He shakes his head and stops at the 2003 Honda Accord—painted in a shade called Desert Mist Metallic—parked curbside, a gift from your parents when you went away to college only to return in disgrace with a Theater Arts degree that they lie to their friends about. From one of the nearby houses, you can hear Take It Easy by The Eagles drifting out into the sun-drenched street. “Is this your ride?”
“Yup! This is me.”
“Well I’m going to make some calls and see what I can get you, and I’ll let you know either way in a few days how it’s going. Brandon has your phone number and headshots…and I can find your acting reels on YouTube if I need them…yeah, I think that’s everything. Okay?”
“Okay. I hope you get the star.”
Again, you have confused him. “What?”
“In the Mario game. The one on the eel’s tail.”
Aegon grins and slips black aviator sunglasses out of a pocket inside his jacket and says as he puts them on, maybe to the sky, maybe to you: “You are so bright, sunshine.” Then he climbs the steps to the front door of his small, inauspicious office.
“Aegon?” you call after him. At the top of the concrete steps, he pauses and turns around. Here in the shadowless midday light, you are overwhelmed with gratitude. It’s difficult to speak without your voice breaking. “Thank you for giving me a chance.”
“Don’t thank me. This place is a curse.”
He opens the door and disappears inside.
~~~~~~~~~~
“Guess who has an agent?!” you announce ecstatically as you burst into the apartment. Baela and Jace are in the living room on the velvet orange couch, eating sushi and watching True Blood on the 40-inch flatscreen television that Baela’s parents bought for her.
“Congratulations!” Baela says from the couch. “Finally! I’m so happy for you!”
“Yeah, that’s awesome,” Jace agrees as he shovels pieces of a shrimp tempura roll into his mouth. Jace is Baela’s boyfriend of six months. He’s allegedly getting a PhD in Musicology at UCLA, but he only goes to class one or two days a week and does exceptionally little other than that. Once in a while you’ll overhear him pounding on the Yamaha keyboard he keeps in Baela’s room, cursing to himself and kicking the wall in frustration.
“Is he nice?” Baela asks, meaning your new agent.
“I think so,” you say thoughtfully. You aren’t sure that nice is the right word. “He’s kind of weird and grumpy. But I really like him.”
“Is he old?”
“Not at all. Aegon’s thirty-five.”
“Ew,” Baela says. “Old.”
“I really like him,” you say again, smiling to yourself without realizing you’re doing it.
Baela groans. “Please don’t be one of those girls who fucks their agent.”
“No, it’s not like that. He’s engaged to someone super gorgeous. They’re getting married in September.”
“Huh,” Baela replies, losing interest now. Her eyes have drifted back to the tv. She hasn’t landed a role as a film lead or a series regular yet, but she’s been working steadily since she got to L.A. and her star is ever-rising. Tomorrow she is auditioning for Yorgos Lanthimos’s new movie. She’s not allowed to tell you anything about the script. It’s a secret; it’s an honor.
You go to the kitchen for a drink and stop when your gaze catches on the calendar affixed to the stainless steel refrigerator with plastic magnets shaped like pineapples. Friday, June 20th is circled with red ink; in the box below, you have scrawled the necessary details.
Baela twists around on the couch and sees you. Her voice is gentle; she knows you’re nervous. “When’s your appointment?”
“Next week.”
“You’re really getting sliced up?” Jace says.
You smirk at him, less than appreciative. “It’s just a consultation. But yeah, probably.”
“You scared?” Jace asks, gnawing on a pod of edamame.
Obviously. You sigh. “I think it has to happen if I want to land roles.”
“I haven’t gotten any plastic surgery yet,” Baela says, not meaning to sound smug.
You murmur as you ponder the time and address written in red on the calendar: “Well nobody is saying you need to.” You’ve had no less than ten people suggest implants outright, and far more have implied it. Aegon is the only person you can think of who dismissed the idea summarily…and that includes your parents. Your father has been emailing you doctor recommendations. He must think it’s a good investment for your post-California-detour life.
“It will give you more confidence,” Baela says as she turns back to the tv. “A little extra something to take you to the next level.”
You stare at her forlornly from the kitchen. You are suddenly very aware that you miss being outside: the sun, the heat, the swaying palm trees, the radiant kinetic potential. “That’s part of the problem? My confidence?”
She shrugs, using her chopsticks to dunk a piece of her tuna roll in a small plastic container of spicy mayo. She seems oblivious to how deflated you are. “It’s just so hard to stand out here, you know? The phrase ‘California dime’ exists for a reason.”
Jace glances at you over the back of the couch. “I think you look fine.”
“Thanks, Jace.”
“I think you’re easily a California nickel.”
“That’s super sweet, Jace.”
Now Baela is telling him to shut up and they’re bickering back and forth, but you aren’t listening. You take your phone out of your purse and open Instagram. You search for Aegon and find his account; his username is superstargaryen. You follow him. Within a minute, just long enough for you to click through one of his highlight reels—mostly pictures of the beach and trips to In-N-Out Burger—he follows you back. Then you receive a DM.
Aegon has typed: Brando says the apple is good
You giggle to yourself as you tap out a reply. Told you :)
Aegon responds: Or!!! All Minnesotans have no taste
And then he adds a few seconds later: I had to Google that word…Minnesotans…sounds fake
You reply: Please use Google to get me a job instead
He starts typing something, then stops and reacts with a laughing emoji instead. You pull a can of Diet Coke out of the fridge, wondering what he was going to say before he changed his mind.
Late that night, after a nine-hour shift at Cold Stone Creamery, you shower and crawl exhausted into bed wearing an oversized blue L.A. Dodgers t-shirt that you’re swimming in. You turn on your laptop and open YouTube, search for Aegon’s acting reels from ten years ago, fall asleep listening to his voice like the endless ethereal rush when you hold a seashell to your ear.
The orange peel theory - Azriel
I saw this post by @marvelsmylife and I thought I would give it a try! I've seen also lots of couples doing this on TikTok, so here's my take on how Azriel would do it. Hope you like it!
Plot: the spring court is beautiful, oranges are beautiful, but there's nothing more beautiful than your mate.
You loved the Spring court, you really did. Unlike Cassian, who couldn’t even get out of his room without sneezing the life out of his body, you spent your time there walking through the beautiful gardens. No matter how terrible Tamlin was, how much you despised the meetings between courts – you loved the Spring court.
All your friends and family were busy that morning, most of them in said meeting. Rhys and Feyre had been the first ones to arrive, Cassian and Azriel following close. You had woken up to an empty bed and cold sheets, your mate’s training not keeping up with your late nights reading. Still, Azriel had left you a short note and a beautiful flower.
You would have spent the morning with Nesta, but she was busy with Elain preparing the last details of her wedding with Lucien. Mor and Amren had chosen to stay in Velaris, and that left you alone in those beautiful gardens.
Time flew by each time you stopped to look at a flower or insect, as you let your body soak the warm sun through the trees. You wouldn’t have noticed the morning rolling away if it wasn’t for your stomach rumbling angrily at you. Deciding leaving the gardens was too much of an effort, you looked around for something to eat.
The meeting would end soon, but you would remain for two days more. There were enough matters to discuss that the high lords needed more than one meeting. As soon as Azriel was free, he would come looking for you – and you didn’t want to waste any time eating when you could explore the beautiful court.
So, when you spotted the orange tree, you made your decision.
It was big enough that you had to step on a bench to grab the closest orange. Once you did, you couldn’t resist grabbing some more. Big and colorful, your mouth watered just at the sight. You ended up on your tiptoes, barely keeping balance, gathering the oranges between your chest and arm.
One of them rolled out of your grasp, but before it fell, shadows gathered around it and brought it back to the group. You smiled instantly, stretching slightly to take the last orange. You felt your body gravitating forward as the tips of your fingers barely grazed it, and just before you could fall over, warm hands rounded your waist.
You were lifted the missing inch and stabilized at the same time, shadows keeping your legs upright. After taking the orange, you barely had time to look at it before you were lowered to the ground, back meeting his hard chest.
“Aren’t you a little shabby for a thief?” Azriel whispered against your ear, holding you close. “Risking your life for a bunch of oranges?”
“Oh, like you would have left me fall” you rolled your eyes, resisting the urge of squirming away when his lips brushed your cheek.
“I could have been away”
“Still”
You turned around, your arms full of oranges, and met his hazel eyes. Azriel could have been miles away, in a different country, that you were sure his shadows would have found a way of keeping you from hurt, just as they always did. You knew it, he knew it, and there was no real concern under his words, just playful banter.
Politics, territorial business and high lords were hard for him, and you could guess the outcome of the meeting in the darkness under his eyes. Still, when you looked at him, they shone a little brighter, his lips curling upwards.
His wings blocked the sun from behind, but some rays peeked through and made him look even more divine than he already was. Only a few hours away, and you already missed him.
His arms circled your waist and he lowered himself until he could kiss you softly, erasing the memories of the previous meeting. He tasted like home, like safety, and you were ready to drop your treats and wrap yourself around your mate.
Barely two seconds into the kiss, it was broken by the loud sound of your stomach reclaiming you back to your previous task. Azriel tore away with raised eyebrows, and burst into a loud laugh at your rosy cheeks.
“It’s past lunch time, don’t judge me” you looked down to your arms. “Want an orange?”
“I would love nothing more than a stolen orange”
You didn’t need words when you were with him, not as you sat on the bench you had climbed on and Azriel took the oranges from your grasp. His dark leathers were a rough contrast with your soft dress, the scars on his hands contrary to your careful touch. He didn’t flinch like he used to when you wrapped your fingers around his, only smiled softly and pressed a kiss to the back of your hand.
There was no other place you would rather be but on that bench with him, the sun and shadows creating a beautiful landscape full of flowers and colors.
Azriel took the last orange from you and easily peeled its roughness away. His nails were chipped and broken, but he managed to get the whole thing off and hand it to you in small pieces. You gladly let him put the first one in your mouth, happy with not moving a muscle away from him.
“I can do that” you raised a brow as you bit on the juicy fruit.
“And I can do it for you” he bit on the next piece, eyes dropping to your mouth.
You tried grabbing the rest of the orange from him, but he easily brushed you away. It was common for him to do that type of stuff – peeling an orange for you so your hands wouldn’t get dirty, doing your hair in the morning when you were too tired, putting food on your plate before his own.
Those little things had built a comfortable relationship during your years together. You cleaned the blood off his leather when he came back from a mission and he brought you flowers each Sunday. He folded your clothes in a neat pile to you after your bath and you helped him tie his boots when he was sore from training.
The birds chirped around you as he kept peeling oranges, handing you some pieces and eating the rest of them. You watched as he carefully removed the white striped that you always complained about, checking each piece before giving it to you.
“How was the meeting?” you tried eventually, breaking the peaceful silence.
“It was” he shrugged, plucking the last part of the peel before dividing the orange. “Tamlin growled at everything and everyone. Kallias stepped out in the middle of it. Beron and Eris”
“What of Beron and Eris?”
“They were… them”
You knew without words that Beron and Eris had been the worst part of it. Maybe, if it wasn’t for them, Azriel would enjoy the politics of those meetings. He would stand in that room with his wings wide and head high. But they always managed to find something to bring him down, to make him feel less than them. And you would have gladly punched them into the knowing they wouldn’t even get close to the man Azriel was.
Azriel didn’t elaborate the answer for a while, both of you eating quietly. Once he had peeled the fourth orange and you had refused the last part, he started plucking the crumbs from under his nails.
You hoisted your legs up to his own, and made yourself comfortable on his lap. The reaction of having your body close was instant, his muscles going lax and his shoulders dropping.
“Rhys thinks Eris will stick to his part of, you know” Azriel talked softly, as if his shadows wouldn’t inform him of any presence within twenty feet. “But when he’s with his father, with that… smile and attitude, I wish he wouldn’t. I just wish it was different”
“I know” you agreed, pressing your stained lips to his cheeks. “It will be soon”
He turned to look at you and you smiled as brightly and convincingly as you could. Working with Eris was worse than any type of meeting. Having him coming to Velaris, where your home was, and letting him know where the most precious part of him lived was hard enough. But watching him play his enemy in a room full of threats and knowing he knew those things was on a different level.
It broke your heart each time he came back from those meetings, each time his vulnerability became apparent and you could do nothing about it.
Just smile, stay by his side, and stick to the promise of not letting anything happen to any of you.
You tried changing the subject for his sake and yours, anything to make him smile again like a few minutes before. Brushing the sticky stain on his cheek, you mentioned something Nesta had talked about before.
“There is a theory, you know” you started, trying to bite the smile off your lips so he would take you seriously. “About males, and oranges, and peeling them”
“Likely a theory of one of your books” he teased, and when you didn’t confirm neither deny it, he chuckled. “Or Nesta’s. I don’t know which one is worse”
“The theory says, that if your partner peels oranges for you without asking or saying, they love and care about you” you repeated what Nesta had told you a few days ago. “Getting their hands dirty and not minding about it because they love their partners more”
“More than an orange’s peel?” Azriel smiled widely now. “After almost fifty years of relationship, I hope you too love me more than that”
“You’re missing the point”
“It’s a stupid theory”
It was because he did way more than peel oranges for you. And you did way more than change the subject to stupid theories so he would take his mind off the worries. If Azriel had to peel a thousand oranges for you, he would do it. If he was allergic to them, he would still do it.
There was little Azriel wouldn’t do for you. The basics of protecting you, of giving you his love and affection, were already set at the begging of your relationship. But as he thought of the stupid orange peel, he wondered if there was something he wouldn’t do for you.
And he knew that there wasn’t.
“Let me guess” he tugged your legs closer and looked into your eyes with a deep frown of concentration. “Nesta told you about it, just as he has told you about the rest of stupid theories you have put to test. And she has also told Elain and Feyre, and you all have put it to test”
“You’re missing Mor” you smiled, knowing he would make the whole story perfectly.
“Rhys passed, for sure. Lucien too, though he would probably be a little wary and ask about it before doing it, because Elain doesn’t eat too many oranges” he guessed correctly, making you scoff a laugh. “And Cassian asked Nesta to peel his orange”
You burst into a laugh because, just like he had said, had happened.
As you tilted your head back, a ray of sun hit the side of your face and Azriel’s heart started beating a little faster. He would never not find you beautiful, but sometimes, it would hit him just how beautiful you were. How lucky he was, how perfect his mate was. The cauldron had made him wait, had made him suffer, and all of it was worthy from the moment he laid his eyes on you.
“I love you” he smiled, Eris and Beron long gone from his mind. “Even if you’re a shaggy thief”
“I love you too”
Azriel closed his eyes and let the sun bake his skin. Having you in his arms always felt good, no matter where you were. Spring court, Velaris, your home. He could be lying in a battlefield with you in his arms, safe and sound, and it would feel like heaven.
The meeting had been shitty, and the two days left in that court would be too. But if enduring it and peeling oranges for you would get him that kind of peace, he was ready for it to last forever.
Who'd have known? - Shadow's version
A.N: Hello! been in a little writters block and finally pulled myself out of it thanks to @dayoftearsandmourning lovely request so this one goes specially for her (I hope it's what u wanted)I hadn't heard this song before but it's so cute an fluffy so I hope I made justice. Also yes I know Rouge is not (yet) on the SMU (sonic movie universe) but I dont care.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/f550f118a12b67a05d142f2b188c0b5c/14b975340979e53c-b0/s540x810/8079d1ceb3c78e7b01a919a25255cfac21695565.jpg)
Shadow felt comfortable, welcoming the warmth in his chest, his muscles relaxing allowing himself to drift away, something that only happened when he was with you, even while doing the most mundane things like sitting next to you watching your favorite show. Shadow had stopped paying attention to the TV, fixing his attention on you noticing every change in your expression, the little smile peeking out of your lips, the flutter of your eyelashes, the way you puckered your nose when the main character got into trouble. He noticed how you hugged your torso, the cold of the night becoming present, without thinking, without planning it, he placed his arm around your shoulders, as if it were the most natural thing between you.
“…Put your arm around my shoulder And it was as if the room got colder”
The gesture did not go unnoticed by you. The warmth flooding your cheeks painting them pink, you enjoyed his company and certainly enjoyed his touch making circles on your shoulder. From time to time you would turn around and explain something about the chapter you were watching, Shadow would listen to you attentively but prayed that you wouldn't ask him what he thought because he would have to admit that he was lost in the sound of your voice just like that first time he saw you.
“I didn't know where this was going…”
Months ago, when Shadow had just arrived to live in Green Hills, at the request of Sonic and his friends, in a quiet morning walk in town he found a small cafeteria, it looked cozy and the sweet vanilla scent mixed with coffee gave him the courage to open the door.
You were arranging the desserts on the sideboard, when you heard the bell announcing a new customer, returning to your place at the counter, finding dark spikes and red tips, you lowered your gaze a little, crimson eyes looking back at you. “Hello! What can I get you started today?” your smile warm and gentle, something Shadow was not so used to since he had come to live with the wackausky.
“Coffe,” he says, placing his hands on the counter.
“Sure thing, what kind of-?”
“Beans.” he cut you off.
“Oh… that's new. Let me see what I can do.” you walked to the back opening a new bag of coffe beans for the machine and putting em on a small plastic bag adding a sticky note to it. “What's your name?”
“Shadow?” he said in a questioning tone, not really understanding why you wanted to know.
“Okay, here you go Shadow, enjoy” you handed him the bag. Shadow took it, leaving a five dollar bill on the counter as he turned to leave “Come back anytime!” you say enthusiastically.
On the way back to the Wackausky's Shadow found his name written in beautiful calligraphy along with a smiley face. At the time he didn't understand why, but his heart had been turned upside down.
“I haven't left you for days now And I'm becoming amazed how You're quite affectionate in public”
It wasn't the first time you had spent time together, much less the first time Shadow had stayed at your house, yet the buzzing of Shadows mind was not leaving him alone, has it always been like this? Being... so close? In his mind he went over all those dates was that what they were? That you had had, the moments you had shared, comparing them with what was happening, however to him it seemed... the same. Nothing had changed between you, so why did he feel that something was going on? Why did the scent of your shampoo feel sweeter than usual? Why did you look prettier than usual under the warm light?
Shadow was in a lot of trouble, he couldn't figure out what had happened to you, why something felt different when he was near you, why his hands were shaking when he was next to you, why he was staring at you so hard when you put balm on your lips? he didn't know what to do, so he did the only thing he could do given the situation. Go to Rouge.
“What could possibly be? Perhaps I'm sick” he said as he paced back and forth with his hand cupping his chin “Nonsense, I am the ultimate lifeform, I can't get sick.”
“In fact your friend said it made her feel sick And even though it's moving forward There's just the right amount of awkward”
“Oh gods” said Rouge smacking his forehead with her hand “You're a fool Shadow, but you're cute so I'll forgive you. You’re not sick but you might as well be blind. You’re in love.
“In… love?” he said in a questioning tone “No, I don't understand what you're talking about.”
“You like her Shadow and it's so obvious to everyone that I'm surprised she hasn't noticed yet. Especially with that little dance you do whenever she's around.” Dancing? No Shadow didn't dance, she barely knew how to move her arms “You know, when you circle around her while she's cooking?”
“But I... I don't-” he said trying to defend himself.
“Oh my... you are really oblivious.”
Circling? What did Rouge mean by that? You and Shadow were... friends, yes, good friends. He liked spending time with you, listening to you talk about the new dessert recipes you would try in the cafeteria and what your childhood had been like in your grandmother's bakery and yes it was true that he constantly found himself walking in circles across the kitchen with you in the middle, but that was just his way of passing the time while you were concentrating on your work, wasn't it? You were just very nice, kind and always had a smile for him. Shadow loved your details like his bag of coffee beans every day waiting for him or the notes wishing him good morning, they made him feel special and he’d be lying if he said he hadn't noticed the recent appearance of hearts around his name on every note. But that's all it was, right?
“You told your friends, they all know We exist but we're taking it slow Let's just see how it goes”
Slow but steady you had fallen for him too. Too scared to accept your feelings, you didn't know if Shadow shared what you did and you didn't want to ruin his friendship over a simple crush. Except it wasn't just a crush, you constantly found yourself thinking about him, buying things just because they reminded you of him, longing for the clock to move faster to the number 9, for that was the time Shadow always arrived at the coffee shop.
The doorbell rang and as if your prayers had been answered there stood the hedgehog you so longed to see. Shadow had a frown on his face, as if he was worried about something, next to him Rouge was whispering in his ear.
“Hey guys!” you said coming out from the counter to greet them giving them a kiss on the cheek as was your custom. Shadow blushed as he felt your lips on his muzzle, averting his gaze to the new decorations you had added to the cafeteria. The painting of a reddish comet streaking across the sky among the stars hung high above their heads. Shadow admired the painting beside you.
“I like it”
“So do I, it made me think of you” you said without thinking. The curiosity present in Shadow “Cause... you were a star lighting up the sky, bringing your brightness to where it's needed.” Red cheeks on your face as you spoke “you okay?” you said as you noticed Shadow hiding his head in his hands, a soft click click click coming from him.
“Are you mine? Are you mine? 'Cause I stay here all the time”
“These two are going to need more help than I thought,” Rouge thought.
That's how we arrived at this moment, both of you sitting on the park bench watching the sunset. A bouquet of yellow and lavender flowers on your lap. He had done just what Rouge had advised “take her somewhere nice, buy some flowers and confess your feelings”, except he was having trouble with the last part. For the first time in his life he felt... unsure, what if it was all in his mind? What if Rouge was wrong? Shadow couldn't bear to lose someone special, not again.
“This feels so good” you said leaning into him, your head on his you felt his body stiffen against your touch, your little finger on his hand seeking to intertwine your fingers with his. Maybe it was the heat of the moment or the dizziness your scent gave him, maybe it was the lavender haze in his mind, but somehow he found the courage to speak.
“I... I like you.”
“I like you too Shadow.”
“No, I mean, I-I think I love you.”
“Who'd have known? Who'd have known? When you flash up on my phone I no longer feel alone Let's just stay, let's just stay”
You looked at him, your face tilted to one side and a slight blush starting to grow as the butterflies in your stomach flutter uncontrollably. Never in your wildest dreams did you imagine this would happen but as you tried to keep it cool you couldn't help but let a small smile creep across your face as Shadow confessed his feelings. “I think I love you too” you said intertwining your fingers with his as if a promise had been sealed between the two of you.
“Now let's just see how it goes Let's see how it goes”
@avaere: From holding hands to breaking away in pursuit of familiar vegetables, Kaveh would step ahead from Vautrin to the small display found outside one of the many shops in Fontaine. With days flying by, commissions coming to an end, it was evident that he had stayed in Fontaine for quite some time already. Mornings had been spent enjoying tea that didn't quite taste like home, the scent of the ocean catching up wherever he turned (even here as he, a bit too picky, would reach for the familiar and somewhat unripe vegetable from Sumeru) and as delightful, adventurous and exciting it was, there was a large part of him that longed home.
"Would you like me to teach you some recipes?" Kaveh asked, vegetable in hand as he'd turn to Vautrin with a warm smile. He'd show off the vegetable in his grasp, turning it around ever so slightly. "I keep thinking back on the dish you tried to replicate from Sumeru the other day. Fontainian food is quite different from the one found in Sumeru, and the spices you have here aren't as fresh as the ones we buy at the markets over there which takes away that little extra kick, which is a shame."
He'd hold out the vegetable for Vautrin to look at; "... cooking isn't one of my greatest talents, but I do know some simple dishes that don't require too much work or ingredients. My mother had a small recipe book that my father wrote down prior to... leaving. It had some stews in it - and," he'd laugh gently, head canting with a light shrug, "they won't set your mouth on fire, which sounds like a win for many Fontainians."
It wouldn't take Kaveh back to the streets of Sumeru city, nor would it come close to the comforting taste of the tavern's dishes, but it would bring a little piece of home into the company of Vautrin. Kaveh could make peace with that, for now, even as he'd dump the vegetable into the other's hands with a 'hold this' there he'd return his attention to the selection before them. One hand reached for his pouch of mora, weighing it in his hand, and another would touch as well as turn the vegetables and herbs that seemed of interest. Vautrin had already treated him to many lunches and dinners, now it was his time to ... try, at least.
"I'll also bring some ingredients for Chai," he'd mumble to himself, mora pouch returned to his pocket as hands would busy themselves with picking out ingredients. "I think you'll like it, and if you don't... then you'll come around eventually! Cooking together, after all, is the number one way of learning to know someone; have you ever cooked with someone else, Vautrin? I've only ever tried cooking with my roommate back in Sumeru, and, between us... he is a bit of an annoyance."
It is incredible to him, how quickly he misses the warmth of the hand in his own whenever Kaveh slips away. How natural it has become to lace their fingers together as they stroll so casually down the street - he, a man who would once have stiffened at a touch so familiar, who would not have dared, or wanted, to engage in such a public display. Of course, he knows now that he was simply in denial back then, unable to accept facts about himself to enable the opportunity to seek happiness, but it is still something of an adjustment that he is still adapting to. It is difficult to shed the habitual awkwardness and embarrassment that comes so naturally to him when something so private is brought into the public eye.
But there is no awkwardness to the way he stops and lingers, his gaze trained affectionately upon the architect's back as he studies the display of produce before him. He seems to find ways to admire Kaveh regardless of what it is he is doing - even something as simple as reaching eagerly for a vegetable Vautrin is not too familiar with, the way his hands cradle this organic item as though it were something precious. He can surmise that this vegetable is something from home - and Kaveh confirms as much with his next words.
"I am always eager to expand my cookery knowledge, particularly with something that is important to you." He smiles, accepting the vegetable to inspect it closer himself. Kaveh had seemed to enjoy the dish he'd cooked for him, but having never cooked Sumerian food, he suspected it was somewhat lacking in the usual heat that Kaveh is used to - and whilst Kaveh would never complain, he wants to learn more for him.
"You'll have to forgive me, but I fear I have some trust issues when it comes to you and spicy food." Fingers skim lightly along Kaveh's arm, a smile quirking at the corners of his mouth at the now fond memory. If he thinks about it enough, he can still feel the heat that burned across his tongue at that fateful forkful. "But, as it's you... I'll risk a repeat experience."
He juggles the ingredients in his arms, his gaze briefly dipping away to seek out an easier means of carrying them, but there is none to be seen. Ah, well. He'll manage. "You sound very sure of that. Is that confidence in your teachings I hear?" It is a light, casual tease, accentuated by the sly smile that accompanies the gentle nudge of a shoulder against Kaveh's (his hands, of course, being rather full with Kaveh's selections).
At the question, a memory, clear as day, swims before him - and the smile upon his face turns softer, briefly sadder, then warms again with obvious affection. "I have, once. Though I did most of the work - she could only just about reach the counter, so her input was somewhat limited in its capacity." He can hear the familiar voice teasing him, then berating him for teasing her. "But I have never cooked with someone I..." A pause, an almost shy averting of his gaze. "Someone who I wish to know."
He clears his throat, pretends to inspect the ingredients in his arms as if he hasn't been holding them for several minutes now. "Well, I can only hope I will not also prove to be an annoyance to you." And there is something vulnerable hidden beneath the thin thread of humour interjected into his voice - perhaps a fear that he will, in fact, prove to be something not worth the architect's attention.
#avaere#muse; vautrin (genpact)#;oh my beautiful one; i left here in darkness and found you on the way (avaere; kaveh & vautrin)#( the image of them cooking together is giving me LIFE aven )#( please tell me they're gonna have a ghost moment where kaveh is guiding his hands from behind somehow- )#( though kaveh may need to repeat instructions if he does that bc vautrin's brain will buffer )#( god. can they BE more domestic ???? )#( i'm seeing matching aprons. asking each other to taste things to check the seasoning / spice level )#( hands resting gently at waists or lower backs while the other chops or stirs )#( hi i love them )
▶ BOYFRIENDS — two is better than one.
a/n: you were voting in the poll and picked the stsg protecting the reader from the drunk so there we go! our boys making sure we're safe!
𝙇𝙊𝙑𝙀 𝙈𝙀𝘿𝙇𝙀𝙔 | series masterlist
“C’mon cutie, it’s jus’ a dance.”
You’re far from being a mind reader. Sometimes you struggle with getting the point of something someone is telling you straight on, but this time you were sure it wasn’t a dance the man wanted from you.
A thick stench of alcohol saturated the air whenever he was leaning towards you, rendering the oxygen useless because you’d rather suffocate than introduce that toxic waste into your lungs. You were trapped, between the counter in a small, dorm kitchen and a guy you recognized from a sport’s team popular in your college. He’s not the top dog, average at most, but famous nonetheless and apparently such condition turned his ears deaf to any sort of refusal. The small of your back burned in the place where he glued his hand and it wasn’t a pleasant type of burn.
“I’m not gonna dance with you, get away, creep,” you scoffed, frowning upon the stubborn behavior and pressing the open palm of your hand against his chest, trying to put your strength against his own. No luck there, he didn’t budge the slightest.
“Hard to get, huh? I like that,” he grinned and next thing you noticed was a hand on your butt, squeezing the flesh like an orange. You flinched at the feeling, digging your nails into his forearm, doing about as much damage as a little kitten. That’s why you didn’t like college parties. “You sure are a feisty one, aren’t you?”
“Get. Off.” A groan left your throat and your fist clenched to your side. A knee itched to meet his crotch, a drink in your hand begged to be spilled over his stupid face and wash off his stupid smile, maybe even refresh his stinky breath a little.
You thought about violence, your body tensed and muscles contracted, getting ready for a strike, but then, you heard a hum. Soft, melodic, like a cotton and silk, soothing your nerves and making you relax. The sound made you stop; it made the drunk stop as well and your position shifted.
“Does my beautiful mochi have a problem here?”
You could physically feel how Satoru removed the unwanted hand from your rear and the wince on the boy’s face in front of you told you his grip was much heavier than the tone of his voice suggested. Then, your friend wrapped his arms around your waist, effectively pulling you out of the toxic orbit; your back met his wide chest and his chin dropped to rest on your shoulder. His bright blue eyes sized the guy in front of you from above the dark shades he wore that night and you noticed him smiling. It was confident, it was judging and so very challenging. You could tell he wished to get down and dirty with the drunk.
“And you are?”
“Her boyfriend. Back off.”
“Boyfriend, huh? Bullshit,” the boy scoffed, clearly unable to comprehend the danger he put himself in. He hiccupped drunkenly and then found Suguru in the crowd, pointing at him. “That bitch told my friend her boyfriend is that guy.”
Satoru hummed again, amused, and then chuckled vividly. You felt his embrace tightening protectively around you and his fluffy hair tickling the side of your face. As if summoned, Geto made his way towards you and soon he joined your other side.
“Suguru, this guy over there called our girlfriend a bitch and dared to lay a hand over her ass,” Gojo painted the picture with a sweetly threatening tone and even pouted a little for the added effect.
“Oh yeah?” Brunette mused, raising an eyebrow and you heard a soft crack of his bones when he tilted his head to one side and then the other, stretching his neck. Oh, how menacing. “It can’t be.”
You watched as confusion washed over the features in front of you. The guy was drunk, but it seemed as if the dots were finally connecting in his brain, as if the message was reaching and realization was sinking in — very likely the sound of Suguru’s cracking knuckles made the process much more quick and efficient.
And he crumbled.
The boy shrunk under the set of gazes and tensed atmosphere. Mumbling something incoherent, he backed off, grabbing a can of beer on his way as if pretending to not be bothered when very visibly he was.
You sighed.
An exhale of relief made you wilt a little inside the protective embrace of Satoru’s arms. You felt your body relaxing.
“Thank you. He was damn persistent,” you addressed your friends, smoothing over the hands snaked around your waist and looking up at Suguru.
“Always,” brunette smiled, pressing a kiss to your forehead, while Satoru nuzzled his nose into the crook of your neck. Then he bit you, of course he did, but this time you let it slip.
“I’d be persistent too if I saw those tits unattended,” the snow-white mumbled, and Geto immediately nagged him, causing the dramatic roll of blue eyes.
You, on the other hand, laughed.
Those idiots.
You were seated on the couch, unmoving while your trembling fingers nervously played with the hem of your shirt —well, not your shirt but one of Satoru's —ending at your thighs.
The oppressive silence in the room was putting you on edge, but alas that was broken only by the faint rustling of fabric as Suguru shifted by the window. His posture was firm, arms crossed against his chest tightly, and his gaze was anything but soft. It was sharp, unrelenting as his dark orbs slowly flickered towards you.
It wasn’t always like this—at least, not in the beginning. You never expected that meeting Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto would upend your life in ways where you could never break free.
You met them years ago, though for you it felt like another lifetime. At the time, you were but an apprentice—a healer specializing in rare techniques that’s been passed down for generations in your family. Your days were reticent as you spent most of your time treating small ailments alongside learning how to channel energy into restorative power. It wasn’t glamorous, but you were content with your life and it was yours.
Then Satoru Gojo walked into your clinic.
There was no way you could miss him—the towering man with snowy white hair, dressed in black from head to toe, a white blindfold hiding what you later discovered were piercing, unnervingly beautiful eyes. He was injured, but he waved it off like nothing and instead flashed a lopsided grin towards your direction.
“Looks worse than it is,” he spoke casually, his frame leaning against the doorframe as blood drenched the side of his uniform.
You merely blinked, taking in his flippant attitude and the faint sparkle of power that radiated off him like heat.
“Keep walking around like that and you’ll eventually bleed out,” you retorted all the while reaching for your supplies.
Satoru smirked. “Oh? You’re worried about me already? We just met.” His tone was full of teasing.
At his reply, you couldn’t help but roll your eyes, not bothering to answer him and motioning with your pointer finger for him to sit down. He sighed dramatically, dragging himself to the nearest chair as if it were an incredible effort.
You began to clean and patch up his wound until you found yourself distracted by the strange energy he carried, your movements halting. You could tell he’s a sorcerer, but he was unlike any you’ve encountered before. The power he was exuding was overwhelming, suffocating even, but he carried it effortlessly, as if the weight of it didn’t bother him the slightest.
“You’ve got steady hands,” he said, breaking the silence. His tone was light, though his words made your cheeks heat.
“I have to,” you replied back softly, shaking your head to gather your thoughts to focus back on your work. “Healing can be tricky and isn’t forgiving of mistakes.”
The white haired male tilted his head as if studying you. “A perfectionist, huh? I like that. What’s your name?”
You hesitated, reluctant to share anything personal, but his disarming smile made it hard to resist. You finally told him your name, your orbs focusing on his wound —or what’s left of it.
“Well, Y/N,” he said, leaning forward slightly. “I think we’ll get along just fine.”
After you finished treating Satoru, another man stepped through the clinic door - Suguru Geto. His presence was the opposite of Satoru’s; where Satoru was loud and attention-seeking, Suguru was quiet and composed.
“Making a mess already, Satoru?” Suguru’s tone was dry while he glanced at the blood-soaked chair.
“It’s not my fault she’s got a cozy little place here. Can’t blame me for wanting to stick around!”
You looked between the two, confused yet slightly uneasy. They were a strange pair, both carrying an aura of danger you couldn’t ignore.
“You should be more careful,” you said, addressing the two males. “I don’t know who—or what— you’ve been fighting, but it’s reckless to be out and about in this condition.”
Suguru raised an eyebrow, his lips slowly stretching into the faintest smile.
“You’ve got a sharp tongue for a healer.”
You narrowed your eyes, shooting a small glare. “It’s called common sense,” you retorted, though your voice wavered slightly under his intense gaze.
From that moment, your life began to intertwine with theirs. They returned to your clinic again and again and again, sometimes injured or sometimes just stopping by for the heck of it. Satoru always teased, pushed at your boundaries, while Suguru observed quietly, his eyes never missing a thing. You weren’t sure why they’ve taken such an interest in you, but you couldn't deny the pull you felt towards them despite how dangerous it felt.
-
Now, years later, you were tapped in their web, your once - peaceful life a distant memory as you were brought back to reality by a voice.
Suguru’s voice cut through the air like a blade, low and cold. “You’re not taking this seriously, are you? Do you think this is some game? That you can do whatever you want and we’ll just overlook it?”
Your stomach churned at his tone. It wasn’t the first time he’s spoken to you like this, but each time it sent a pang of guilt right through your chest. You remembered the soft smiles, the promises they made about protecting you, and how you once thought there might be a way out. But you knew better.
“I… I’m sorry,” you stammered, your voice barely above a whisper. “I wasn’t trying to upset you, Sugu. I just thought—”
He interrupted you sharply. “Thought?”
Suguru took a step closer to you, his eyes narrowing. “You thought stepping outside, exposing yourself to god-knows-who, was a good idea? Do you realize what could’ve happened? Or do you not care?”
You shut your eyes, flinching at his words as you felt your heart sank. You didn’t want to make him angry— didn’t want to make either of them upset. You didn’t mean to disobey them, you just wanted some space.
“I do care,” you murmured, your voice trembling. “I really do. I just.. I didn’t think it would—”
“That’s the problem, you didn’t think.” He snapped, his tone growing harsher. His dark eyes bore deeply into yours, disappointment and anger twisting the knife of guilt even deeper.
“After everything we’ve done to protect you, this is how you repay us? By being reckless?”
“No, I wasn’t trying to—”
“Stop.” Suguru interjected, his voice colder now. “No more excuses.” His fingers dug into his forearms, and his face remained unreadable, but the distance between the two of you felt like an ocean.
“You should know how dangerous the outside world is, Y/N. You’ve been with us long enough to understand the stakes.”
Tears pricked at the corners of your eyes as you instinctively reached out towards him, desperately trying to calm the storm you unleashed unintentionally.
“Suguru.. I’m sorry. I really am. Please, I—”
“Enough.” Once again you were shut down, his voice like a wall slamming down between you.
Your throat tightened as you dropped your gaze to your lap, the heavy weight of guilt eating you alive. You felt like a child being scolded by their parents. You never intended to disappoint Suguru or Satoru. All you wanted was space, air to breathe again, but now you felt like you were suffocating.
Satoru, who was sitting quietly from the other side of the living room, finally spoke up. “Whoa, whoa, hey, let’s not make this more dramatic than it needs to be.” His voice was soft and light, though it held an undertone of seriousness.
He stood up from the chair, sauntering over and stepping between you and Suguru with ease. Crouching in front of you, he tilted his head to catch your downcast eyes.
“You’re scaring her, Suguru. You know how sensitive she gets when you use that tone.” Satoru spoke while a small frown tugged at his lips, giving a look towards the other male.
Suguru kept quiet for a moment, his hand rubbing the back of his neck while rolling his eyes at the comment.
“She should be scared. Maybe then she’ll finally start thinking before putting herself in danger. It’s not about coddling her, Satoru.” He finished off, his jaw tightening as his dark orbs flickered briefly over towards you.
For a moment, there seemed to be something unreadable in his gaze— frustration mixed with something softer, but it disappeared almost instantly.
You glanced at Satoru, seeing a smile replace the frown from earlier as his hand gripped your thigh gently underneath his fingertips. The touch was soft and gentle, his fingers squeezing your skin ever so often in a way to comfort you.
“Toru.. I didn’t want to make him upset. I didn’t want to upset either of you. I just.. just needed a bit of space. I thought… maybe I could have a few moments of normality.” Your voice trembled slightly, tears beginning to stream freely down your cheeks.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to cause any trouble.”
Satoru softened slightly as his hand reached out to brush away your tears.
“You don’t need to apologize for wanting some space, sweetheart. We get it, really. But next time, let us know, alright? No more running off and getting into trouble. We just worry about you.” His words were playful, though it held an underlying seriousness that made your chest tighten.
You gave a weak nod, but the guilt still lingered. Suguru’s disappointment was still evident, and despite the reassurance from Satoru, you couldn’t shake the feeling that you only made things worse.
Suguru’s gaze hasn’t left your form, still as unyielding as ever, but a subtle change flickered in his eyes.
“You can’t keep doing this, baby. We’re here to protect you, but you have to let us. It’s our responsibility to keep you safe. You belong with us.” Suguru’s voice was calmer, yet firm as he stepped closer towards you and Satoru.
You glanced between them, heart torn in two. Satoru’s words felt like a balm—comforting, reassuring— but Suguru’s felt more like a chain, tying you down tighter with every passing moment. They were right, and that’s what hurt the most. You never really gave much thought about how much danger you could be in, how much they had already given to keep you safe.
“I’m… not sure if I can do this,” you whispered.
Satoru reached out, cupping your cheek with his hand. “Sweetheart, you don’t need to worry. We’ve got you. We promise you’ll never be alone.”
You closed your eyes at his warmth, though guilt still lingered deep within you.
“I’m sorry,” you apologized again, though it was more to yourself than to them. “I didn’t mean to make things harder for you.”
Suguru’s gaze softened just enough to let you catch a glimpse of the concern buried beneath his stern exterior. He sits down next to you, reaching out to grab your hand in his and squeezes softly.
“I’m only angry because I care, Y/N. We both do,” he finishes off while Satoru leans forward and places a gentle kiss against your temple.
You closed your eyes, the weight of their words pressing down on you like a chain you could never break.
Agatha x Rio AU || Warnings: smut
Fic Playlist
(Listen along while reading)
——————————————————
Rio had been tracking her mark for two nights now. Being a private eye in her time was easy, given that no one ever suspected a woman of anything.
She had been paid by Ralph Harkness to see if his wife had another man on the side. It was a pretty routine case for her to get. She would either get proof of her in bed with someone or of her going to a book club. She hoped for the book club, if just to avoid having some blubbering man who never treated his wife right in the first place breaking down in her office.
She had blended well into the background of Agatha’s life, situating herself as another face in the crowd. When she shopped, she was a few aisles over. When she drove, she tailed her two cars back. Now, she was parked around the corner, hidden on a fire escape in a shady neighborhood, watching Agatha through her binoculars.
While Agatha normally wore elegant dresses, she was wearing something closer to a feminine suit with suspenders and the blouse beneath it having the top few buttons undone. Her makeup and hair were flawless, her red lip drawing attention. She adjusted her suit jacket before walking down the street in wing-tipped shoes. It reminded Rio of something that Katherine Hepburn would wear. She looked both beautiful and dashing all in one.
She completely that she was at work as she watched the woman slid past the person guarding the door into what looked like a private club.
“Shit…” she whispered to herself, not having gotten one photo of her.
She decided to go inside. After snapping a picture of the club entrance and Agatha’s convertible, she left her camera in her own car. She made her way to the door of the club, knocking when she realized it was locked.
The door opened, revealing who she thought was a man at first, but was a very masculine woman.
“Hello, Dolly,” she said with a smirk, “First time here?”
Rio smiled nervously, saying, “Yes.”
“Relax, you’re safe here. Have fun,” she said, stepping aside to let her in.
Rio walked inside, her dark green satin dress hugging her form, falling to her knee. Her black hair swept down in a perfect wave to kiss her bare shoulders. She looked around, seeing women everywhere. They were drinking at the bar, dancing on the dance floor, and wrapped up in each other in dark cozy corners. Rio had known of places like this for certain men who lived their lives in secret, but never women.
She walked up to the bar and ordered a martini. She drank it instantly before ordering another, needing a dose of courage. She had followed others into dangerous and sordid places where she felt unsafe, but this place made her uneasy in an entirely different way.
She nursed her second martini, perched on one of the stools as a dapper woman named Syd chatted her up. She caught sight of Agatha across the room. The other woman leaned against the wall, flirting with a young, blushing blonde. As if she felt Rio watching, her eyes flicked over and found hers. Rio’s heart stopped a moment as she looked away. After a few seconds passed, she chanced another glance, finding that Agatha’s eyes were still on her.
Rio looked back at Syd, who had caught on that her attention was somewhere else.
“Sorry, you were saying?” Rio said, sipping her martini.
“Agatha,” Syd said, catching her off guard.
“Syd,” said a familiar voice right behind her.
Rio just about jumped out of her skin. She was normally so calm when out on a job, but something about this woman knocked her off balance.
“Take a walk, Syd. Your girl’s looking for you,” Agatha said, nodding toward a very angry looking woman.
“Shit,” Syd muttered before running over to the other woman with profuse apologies.
“Such a dog,” Agatha said with an arched brow, “So, I haven’t seen you around here.”
Rio played with the toothpick in her drink.
“Yeah… it’s my first time at a place like this.”
“Oh! Well, welcome to the greener grass. No man in sight.”
Rio laughed and said, “Thank you. It is definitely better than any nightclub I’ve been to.”
“I’m Agatha, by the way,” she said, reaching her hand out.
“Vera,” she said, giving her an alias.
Agatha brought Rio’s hand up to her lips, kissing the knuckles, leaving red lipstick behind. Her cheeks burned as she blushed, her reaction betraying her professionalism. Agatha kept her hand in hers.
“Would you like to dance?” she asked as a slow song came on.
“Sure.”
Agatha led her to the dance floor. In one smooth motion, she spun Rio before pulling her in. Her hand rested on her hip and the other held Rio’s.
“So, Vera, are you married or single?” She asked.
“Single, of course,” she said.
“It’s not always the case here. A lot of women need to hide themselves behind a husband.”
“You?”
“Married. Unhappily. I hoped it would at least be peaceful, but that man is drunk most of the time.”
“Oh,” Rio said, “I’m sorry. That sounds terrible.”
“It is. I can’t leave, though.”
“Why not?”
“He would get everything.”
“You… don’t have anything on him?” Rio asked, unable to turn the investigator side of herself off.
“Like what?”
“Well, if he was cheating..”
“He would still get everything. No one would hire a divorcee either. No, I just need to outlive his liver and hope he never notices that his wife prefers the company of women,” she said.
Rio swallowed, realizing how privileged she had been to inherit the money she had to start her investigation business. Most women couldn’t earn the money she did. Now, she was about to completely ruin Agatha’s situation when she had nothing to fall back on.
“Well, I hope his liver fails,” she said.
“Thanks,” Agatha said with a smirk, swaying with her.
Rio pressed her cheek to hers as they danced. Her front was against Agatha’s as she was held by her. She breathed in the other woman’s expensive perfume, finding herself dizzied by it all. She had always told herself that romance was never something that mattered to her. She never felt that spark of attraction with any man. Now, she felt a rush of new emotions swirling around in her mind.
“So…” Agatha whispered, “Why have you been following me?”
Rio’s eyes went wide as she tried to step back. Agatha tightened her hold, clicking her tongue.
“I-I don’t know what you mean,” Rio replied.
Agatha turned her head, her face an inch from Rio’s.
“I suppose he hired you. For a PI, you don’t lie very well. Do I make you nervous?” she asked with a cocky smile.
“I.. n…” Rio stuttered before sighing, “Yes. He hired me. I’m sorry.”
A bit of worry and fear flashed in Agatha’s eyes at the confirmation. Defeat settled into her posture.
“Well, I guess I’m going to be out on the street. No way will my parents have a homosexual daughter in their home.”
“No,” Rio said, “As far as I’m concerned, I found you volunteering to help the homeless.”
“Really?” Agatha asked, stunned as a person who had never been given the benefit of the doubt.
“Really.”
“Thank you, Vera.”
“It’s Rio, actually,” she said.
“Rio, that’s beautiful. Well, thank you Rio,” Agatha said, leaning in and kissing her cheek.
Rio’s blush returned, making her cheeks glow scarlet at Agatha’s touch.
“I’m sure you want to be anywhere but here, now that you don’t need to follow me, but I would like to buy you another drink if you’d like,” Agatha said.
“Sure,” she said, “I actually like it here… I mean, because it’s nice to not have men pawing at me…”
“Of course, Sweetheart,” Agatha said with a smirk.
She ordered them both whiskeys and handed one to Rio.
“Cheers,” she said, sipping hers.
The two talked for another hour. Agatha had Rio laughing and Rio captivated Agatha with work stories. The other people around them seemed to fall away as they only focused on one another in the crowded club.
Agatha rested her hand on Rio’s thigh as she laughed at a joke, kicking up a burst of panic within her. The entire night had been so wonderful but also so confusing.
“I should go,” Rio blurted out.
“O-Oh, okay,” Agatha said, crestfallen and retracting her hand.
“I just need to make sure I get some sleep,” she lied.
“Well, can I walk you out to your car? I mean, I already know what it looks like since I’ve seen it behind me all week.”
“I really need to work on tailing people…” Rio said, “Sure. I would like that.”
She walked outside with Agatha on the empty street, a single light illuminating the sidewalk. Agatha rested her hand on her lower back, guiding her toward the car. Rio felt more from that touch than she had from any kiss she shared with a man.
Once they reached the car, Rio turned to face her.
“Thank you for the drink,” she said.
“Thank you for not ratting me out,” Agatha said, “I really did enjoy your company, though.”
“I did too,” Rio said.
Rio leaned in, hugging Agatha. They held each other for a while, Agatha’s hand rubbing her back. She pulled back slightly to look into Rio’s eyes. Their noses brushed against each other. Rio felt something surrender within her. She closed the distance between them with a kiss. Agatha sucked on her lip, the kiss intensifying immediately.
Agatha pulled back, smiling with smeared lipstick, the two of their shades mixed.
“We should go somewhere less out in the open if we are going to continue this,” Agatha said.
“My place,” Rio said, her usual boldness finally returning to her.
“I’ll follow you for once.”
The two drove their respective cars to the brownstone Rio had bought years ago after her parents passed. She led Agatha inside. The other woman pulled her in by the hand and kissed her slowly, pouring every bit of tenderness she had into it.
“Bedroom?” Agatha whispered.
“Huh? Oh…” Rio asked, every thought having vacated itself.
She took her hand as she brought her upstairs, opening the door to her room. She turned on a lamp, turning to see Agatha stripping her jacket off. Rio walked towards her, taking her suspenders and pulling them down. She unbuttoned the rest of Agatha’s shirt while kissing her again. She felt Agatha reach around her and tug on her zipper, pulling it down to release her from her dress.
Rio was left in her stockings, garters, and brassiere. Agatha pulled back, shamelessly admiring her.
“Wow…” Agatha said softly.
Rio tried to avoid slouching or nervously playing with her hands. She was not used to being regarded in this way. Agatha kept her eyes on her as she stripped herself. Rio was rendered speechless in the presence of a beautiful woman naked in her bedroom.
“Wow…” Rio echoed.
Agatha crossed the room, cupping Rio’s cheeks in her hands. She began to lean in. Rio gripped her wrist with her hand.
“Agatha-“
“Yeah?” Agatha said, her eyes still on her lips.
“I’ve never..”
“Been with a woman before, I figured,” she said.
“Been with anyone before…” Rio said with an air of embarrassment.
Agatha looked into her eyes, taking in the new information. She ran her thumb over her cheek.
“Do you want to stop?” she asked.
“No… I just… thought you should know.”
“I’m glad you told me,” Agatha said with a smile, “We’ll go as slow as you want to.”
She leaned in, locking lips with Rio. She sat at the edge of the bed, pulling Rio to straddle her. She smoothly unhooked her bra, tossing it aside. Her hands cupped her breasts, earning a gasp from Rio. Sitting up, Agatha pressed her lips to her chest. She sucked on the skin beneath it and sucked hard. Rio whimpered at the delicious pain as she was marked.
Her hips rolled over Agatha’s as the more experienced woman teased and toyed with her. Her lips and teeth seemed to be everywhere, leaving love-bites wherever she could. Rio was left breathless once Agatha had claimed every available inch of her.
Agatha pulled back and looked at the flushed woman on her lap. Her lips had faded, smudged lipstick, her hair was mussed, and her eyes dilated. She looked ruined for the first time in her life and the fact that she had caused that fueled Agatha. She moved them, laying Rio down. She wanted to keep Rio’s stockings and garters on, so she elected to grip her panties, tearing the fabric. She tossed the scrap aside and kissed along Rio’s inner thigh, making her squirm.
Agatha was driving her to the edge of her sanity. She looked down at her as the other woman settled between her thighs. Rio’s mouth fell open as Agatha’s lips melted into her.
“Fuck! Agatha… please don’t stop…” Rio breathed.
Agatha moaned against her. The sounds of Rio’s pleading made her hungry for her. She circled her arms around her thighs. Her tongue explored her, parting her and sliding inside. Rio let out a yelp when Agatha found a certain spot hidden inside of her. She ground her tongue against it before pulling out. She pressed her lips to her clit, licking and then sucking on it. She slid a finger into Rio, being gentle while opening her up.
Rio was already embarrassingly close to cumming once Agatha began to fuck her. She felt her heart pounding against her chest, resounding in her ears. She gripped her sheets in her fists and twisted as her body gave in. A moan tore itself from her throat as her pleasure spilled over the edge.
Her body shook as she came down from her high. Agatha kissed her way up her front to her lips. She cupped Rio’s jaw and leaned down, kissing her with her arousal on her lips.
Agatha smirked as her hand stayed between her thighs, drawing out the aftershocks while watching Rio closely. Whimpers left Rio’s lips between shaking breaths. She held the gaze from Agatha’s blue eyes as she tried and failed to regain her senses.
There was a glint of mischief in Agatha’s eye as she slid a second finger into her, moving it slowly to allow her to adjust. Rio let out a shocked moan while Agatha sped her thrusts, her thumb working over her clit. Her pleasure built on top of her previous climax, quickly rushing to a new one.
“You’re being so good for me,” Agatha purred.
The praise washed over her, making her cunt clench around her. She felt her walls flutter around her fingers. Her breath caught, her brows bunching together as she looked into Agatha’s eyes. Agatha was left speechless at the sight of Rio cumming. She stroked her through her aftershocks again before sliding out of her.
Rio ran her hand along the length of Agatha’s side, stopping at her hip. She bit her lip before moving Agatha onto her back.
“Hey, tonight’s about you. You don’t need-“
“I want to,” Rio said, “Just… tell me what to do.”
Rio moved down between Agatha’s thighs, looking at her sex with nothing short of fear. She leaned in and ran her tongue along her slid, earning a whine from Agatha. The feeling of drawing that little bit of pleasure from her had Rio hooked. She gave her clit and cunt kitten licks, testing what worked and what didn’t.
“Inside… slide it inside…” Agatha moaned.
Rio did as she was told, the taste of desire exploding on her tongue. She moved and flexed her tongue, looking for her most sensitive spots. She finally found one that made Agatha buck her hips. She gripped her hips and pinned them to keep her from moving out of reach. She felt a hand in her hair while she fucked her with her tongue. Agatha’s grip made her grind herself against the mattress. She was pulled closer, nearly being suffocated in the most delicious way. Agatha panted faster before her thighs shook and her walls collapsed around Rio’s tongue.
Once the hand in her hair loosened, Rio came up from between her legs, her lips and chin slick with arousal. Agatha cupped her face and pulled her down. She kissed and licked the remnants of her own desire from Rio’s face. Rio held her close, the two of them falling into the same breathing rhythm.
“That was… thank you,” Rio whispered.
“I hope your first time was worth the wait,” Agatha murmured before capturing her lips in another kiss.
“It definitely was. Can I… see you again?” Rio asked with an edge of nervousness.
“I would love that,” Agatha said, kissing her forehead, “I do need to go before Ralph wakes up.”
“Right. Him,” Rio muttered.
“Tomorrow?”
“Where?”
“If you’re any good at your job, you’ll be able to find me.”
————————————
6 months later…
Rio had spent every moment Agatha could get away from the house with her. She fell quickly and deeply in love with the other woman. She knew she would always need her in her life.
She waited in her car with a long ranged lens, her camera aimed at a motel. A man walked out with a half-tucked shirt and a woman half his age. She leaned up and kissed him, his hand gripping her ass.
A smile broke out over Rio’s lips at the sight as she snapped a number of pictures. She drove off and met Agatha at the club.
“So?” Agatha asked.
“You have enough to petition for divorce,” she said.
Agatha beamed at her, nearly tackling her with a hug. The two had agreed to have Agatha move in with Rio once the divorce was granted. The two would run the business and spend their lives together. Agatha pulled Rio into a deep kiss.
“I can’t believe how lucky I am,” she whispered against her lips.
“I’m the lucky one,” Rio said back.
She pulled Agatha out to the dance floor as one of their favorite love songs played. The two danced, holding one another until closing time.
Merry Christmas, Baby
Summary: Terry and Nyla work together to bring Patrice some Christmas cheer.
Pairing: Terry Richmond x Black!OC
Word Count: 2.2k
Warnings: Language
Previous: Back Up
Santa came down the chimney
Half past three, y'all
Left all them a good ol' present
For my baby and for me, ha, ha, ha
Terry bopped his head along to Otis Redding’s classic playing from some soul Christmas station he found on Spotify as he examined his handiwork with a mouth full of baby fingers and no idea what he was doing.
When he set off to decorate the house on Patrice’s behalf, he hadn’t considered all of the meticulous planning that went into her creating their personal Winter Wonderland. Ribbons needed careful tying to make beautiful bows. Garlands he thought could be tossed on any surface he chose required deliberate care to achieve their festive flare. And, to his surprise, Christmas trees out of the box did not come pre-fluffed.
He was so confident that he could start and finish his side project in his mother’s final hour of childcare that he didn’t change out of his office attire. The tightness of a half-buttoned polo and stiff slacks with a sleepy little girl cradled in the crook of his arm reminded him of just how wrong he was.
Clear bins labeled by function and location crowded their quaint living room with Patrice’s arrival coming quicker than he was prepared for. He squinted at the tree, trying to understand how he’d managed to put every single ornament on only the front while leaving the back side bare. The sensation of Nyla’s fingers tightening their grip on his bottom lip brought his attention from the eye sore he’d created to the four-month-old with her mother’s smile. He pretended to gnaw on her hands.
“What you looking at, girl, hm? You watching Daddy tear up Mommy’s tree?”
Sleepy baby giggles lit up her round face and dark eyes as her pacifier bobbed in her mouth, thoroughly entertained by her father’s voice and smile. He leaned down to kiss her forehead before smoothing a hand over her soft hair.
“Hopefully she likes it. Mama hasn’t been feeling like herself so we gotta bring the Christmas joy for her. What you think? Did I do a good job?” He adjusted Nyla in his arms to turn her toward the tree for her opinion. She squirmed in his grip, whining and fussing before releasing a small cry as the only way to communicate that she’d seen enough. He took the hint with a chuckle. “Oh-kay. You are Patrice’s child, I’ll tell you that.”
With Nyla providing lively company, Terry adjusted and re-adjusted earth-toned ornaments of all sizes in a failing attempt to salvage his surprise. She cooed along to Terry’s chatter about work, music, and life, offering commentary here and there like a child who’d been speaking for years.
He listened to her grunt and kick at the mention of watching football on Sunday and smiled. “Maybe me and you can go to a game together one day. Don’t get your hopes up for the Panthers being good though baby girl.”
Nyla laughed as if she understood Terry’s jokes, making him laugh in response. From the foyer, their back and forth sounded perfectly ridiculous to Patrice’s already scrambled mind. Motherhood had come with an unexpected price. Every day came with the overwhelming responsibility of balancing work and home life. Months away from her desk only to return during the end of semester swirl made reaclimating to eight hours away from home grueling. Her emotions were a jumbled mess that she traversed on a fraying tightrope. Exhaustion was her default setting these days. No matter how much her family assisted her, there were never enough hours in the day.
A sigh of relief rushed between parted lips as she pressed her back against the front door to seal her home from the frigid early evening wind. A single minute of tranquility couldn’t erase the day she’d had, but it came close. The rest needed the help of her two favorite people in the world.
The alarm’s chime stopped Nyla and Terry’s conversation, alerting them to their queen’s arrival.
“Petey! You’re home,” Terry exclaimed from the living room.
Patrice scoffed and rolled her eyes as she placed bags on the ground. “Don’t play with me, Terrence. I don’t wanna have to knock you out in front of your best friend.”
“I’m not worried about it. She got my back. Right, MiMi? You got Daddy’s back?” Patrice smiled at Nyla’s squeal in response, listening and watching it intensify as Terry appeared in the foyer.
His standing there, tall and thick with a baby carefully balanced in his arms and an incredible softness in his eyes, instantly awakened senses that had long taken the day off.
“How you doin’, beautiful?”
“I was exhausted until I saw you. You married or just out here fine for no reason?”
He chuckled at her shameless flirting and flashed his ring. “Happily married. She a little off in the head too, so be careful.”
“That was perfect. Make sure you say it just like that every time.”
Terry closed the gap between them, pressing quick kisses to her forehead and lips as he helped her shrug out of her coat with his free hand.
“Was your day okay,” he asked, a hand gripping her elbow to hold her steady while she kicked off her boots. She shrugged.
“I didn’t feel like crying by the end so that’s a step up, right?”
“Sure, but I don’t want sad at all. Is there anything I can do?”
Patrice attempted to answer Terry’s concern with a weak smile. “No, but I appreciate you lookin’ out for me. I’ll get better. For now, let's talk about this smiling girl instead. Come here, my sunshine!”
Nyla kicked her little feet and panted from excitement as she transitioned from one set of arms to the next. She worked overtime to ward off sleep for dueling kisses on both cheeks from doting parents elated to have their baby girl earth side.
Terry pulled away from family time to collect the heap of bags left by the door. “What’s all this?”
“Just me tryin’ to find some Christmas cheer. I figured we could bake some cookies with Ny before she goes to bed. Then we can have a drink, order in, and watch a movie or something? I don’t know. Tell me if that sounds stupid.”
Uncertainty was thick in her delivery. She hadn’t been sure of anything in the past four months. Herself, her parenting skills, being a good wife, her teaching - nothing. The need for validation was growing more dire by the day.
“We can do whatever you want, baby. I’ll dress up like Santa if you need me to.”
His affirmation came with a gentle kiss and a slight squeeze to her backside that made her giggle like a teenager in the presence of her crush. “Thank you, Pooh. You hear that, Naomi? Daddy’s gonna dress up like Santa and let Mommy sit on his lap.”
“That ain’t all Mommy can sit on but we have to wait until you’re asleep for that part.” His joke came with a suggestive eyebrow raise that incited a hearty guffaw and butterflies in Patrice’s belly. She leaned in to rest her forehead on his chest for as much touch as she could handle. He rested his chin atop her head to speak. “There’s a surprise for you in the living room if you’re up for it.”
“Does this surprise have something to do with my baby being drenched in all this glitter?”
“No. That’s courtesy of her grandma and her outfit earlier today. You know your mama loves sparkles.”
Patrice attempted to dust silver flecks from Nyla’s face to no avail. “Then lay it on me. I’m ready to be surprised. At least I think. I never know when you two get in cahoots.”
True enough. Terry and Nyla usually found a way to cause havoc, whether in the middle of the night with a dance party or throughout the day with a host of loud distractions. Terry couldn’t deny his propensity to look for trouble with his partner in crime, but he could convince Patrice that, this time, their mischief was something she’d enjoy.
Carefully, he pulled Nyla from Patrice’s arms and led her into the living room with strict instructions to keep her eyes covered until he gave her permission. Anticipation had Patrice nervously bouncing from foot to foot while she waited for the signal. Nothing in her immediate area gave away what she might see on the other side of an extended blink. There were no smells outside of something hearty with a hint of spice simmering nearby. The soft murmur of what sounded like Christmas music didn’t seem out of place. She attempted to feel for clues with one hand out in front but came up empty.
“Can I open my eyes now,” she asked for the third time.
Terry chuckled as he positioned her in the center of the room. “You’re so impatient, baby.”
“Now, don’t make me start on you. We just had our first wedding anniversary on our original wedding date but I’m impatient?”
“Yeah, yeah. Open your eyes before you go too far.”
All of Patrice’s smug laughter slowed to a halt as her eyes feasted on every detail in the room. Crooked garlands dusted in artificial snow adorned the fireplace. Gaps in the Christmas tree created portals to the blank wall behind it. Ornaments sat jumbled together with no rhyme or reason. The skirt meant to hide the unsightly plastic tree stand was comically flipped inside out. Her Christmas star, passed down from her mama’s mama sat glittering under soft white light, waiting to take its rightful place on top of her most eclectic tree to date.
Each imperfection made her heart swell ten times its size, creating a steady stream of tears that coated her cheeks.
She released a shaky breath, the sound betraying the emotions she attempted to keep at bay while she marveled at the tree with her back turned to her helpers. “Oh wow. You did all this for me?”
“When I told Ny how much you love Christmas she was like, ‘Dad, we should do something for Mommy since we love her so much.’ It was all her idea. I only opened my wallet. And put stuff together. And held her the whole time because she hates her mat.”
“Yeah,” she asked, laughing to release nerves and wiping at her face as she finally turned to face them. “You talk that much, little girl?”
“Oh, she’s a great conversationalist. Give her a little formula and she’ll yap all day.”
Patrice stepped closer to rub her nose across her daughter's cheek, inhaling the fresh baby scent that never failed to calm her often racing thoughts.
“This is…so sweet. It’s probably the nicest thing anyone’s ever done for me,” she started. “It’s been kinda tough to get excited this go round. I can’t really find that spark like before and I’m trying so hard.”
“I know. You’re doing a great job, Mama. A perfect job. I wouldn’t wanna be doing all this with anybody else,” Terry reassured while he pulled her into a hug.
She wrapped her arms around his waist, squeezing with all the love in her body when no words could get past the heavy lump in her throat. The leak in her emotional dam had erupted into a crater, turning small tears into a near sob that made her head hurt. She’d cried all of her sadness away in the dead of night or when sitting in traffic between work and home. This was happiness. An unmistakable joy and gratefulness for being blessed beyond her wildest imagination.
Terry didn’t intervene or coax her into deep breaths to stop her crying. Instead, he held her close with one arm and alternated loving pecks between her head and Nyla’s face as the infant rested on his shoulder for comfort. Her tiny hand reached out to leave little pats against Patrice’s forehead, finally making her giggle as her crying paused.
“You’re right. Mommy needs to get it together,” she laughed. “I’m killin’ the vibe big time.”
Terry chuckled. “MiMi cried when I showed her, too. Is this a happy cry or do you hate it?”
“I love it and I love y’all. So much. So, so much.”
“We love you more than we can put into words. You know, since one of us literally can’t talk.”
Patrice's belly laugh made Terry grin from ear to ear in triumph. His chief concern was bringing her happiness, even if only for a few hours. He’d take today as a win and try to top it for the rest of his life.
Wiping fresh tears from her eyes, she took a deep breath and received another whiff of the aroma wafting from the kitchen reminding her that she was starving from a day of educating the leaders of tomorrow. She hummed at the smell with her eyes closed. “Why didn’t you say you cooked? What is that? It smells good.”
“That is your other surprise. Think about it and tell me what you think it could be.”
Hints of cayenne and the spice of fresh jalapenos made her nose tingle. Something warm and sweet followed as the perfect accessory to the savoriness commanding attention. The smell felt familiar. It felt like her childhood. It felt like home.
Her eyes shot open and up to his in sudden realization. “Daddy’s chili! Really? Is that what that is?”
“I owe him some help in the shed but it’s worth it for you. Hope it brings back some magic for you.” Patrice stared at Terry, eyes misty and lips drooping in a deep frown that confused him. “Wait, what did I -”
“Oh my God, whyareyousoperfect!?”
All of her words came out in another muffled sob as she dramatically buried her face into his chest. He couldn’t help but tease her, whispering comments about her theatrics and how she could’ve been a movie star from her ability to burst into hysterics at the drop of a hat.
Drooping eyelids from their pride and joy forced them to share hushed laughter while Patrice regained enough of her composure to help add the finishing touches to their first Christmas display as a unit. Watching Patrice gently bounce Nyla to sleep while she adjusted ornaments and decor to her liking filled Terry with enough warm fuzzies to make him blink back emotions he didn’t know he had brewing.
He had a family.
For all the ups, downs, and haymakers life had thrown him, he had two people looking up at him like the sun rose and set in his eyes. The thought alone took him back to his first time in the same spot with a pecan pie and a carefully wrapped gift in his hands.
Terry slowly approached Patrice from behind to assist her in the effort to place the topper where it belonged. “Remember our first Christmas together?”
“The one when you stayed too long and had your mama worried,” she laughed. “Yeah, I remember. Now look at you. Still over here after all this time.”
“I always knew what and who I wanted.” His declaration came with silly, loud smooches to her exposed neck while they wiggled the star into place atop the tree.
Perfection. Patrice smiled at their joint effort and the feel of Terry holding her and Nyla close. She angled her head to watch him shower their little one in soft kisses.
“Hey,” she called to get his attention. “Merry Christmas, baby. Thank you. For everything.”
He met her thanks with a tender kiss and the gentle graze of his lips against hers, sharing a silent conversation between lovers that needed no explanation.
“Of course. Merry Christmas, honey.”
love story- jh86
summery- love story by taylor swift, jack hughes version
dani's thoughts - yay another fic out!!!
warnings- nothing just pure fluff
We were both young when I first saw you
It was the first day of high school and Jack Hughes couldn't believe his eyes when he saw you. You were the most beautiful girl he had ever laid his eyes on. You had a dazzling smile that could light up the entire room. Jack felt his heart skip a beat as he watched you from across the hallway. As he walked past you, your guy's eyes met for a brief moment and Jack felt a strange connection to you.
After that, Jack found himself making excuses to walk past your locker in hopes of catching another glimpse of you. Eventually, fate stepped in and you and Jack were paired up for a group project in English class. As the two of you worked on the project together, Jack found himself growing closer to you.
“Maybe we can do this instead?” You asked Jack, wondering how to fix the mistake the two of you made. Instead of being worried about the project, Jack was too busy looking at you, the way your hair frames your face, how your face lightly scrunched up as you thought. “Jack?” you questioned, waving your hand in front of his face.
“Oh- urhm, yeah that's good!” Jack stuttered out, his face turning a beautiful shade of red.
“Ohh kay” you responded, going back to writing.
You were Romeo, you were throwin’ pebbles and my daddy said “Stay away from Juliet”
The sound of a hockey puck hitting the boards echoed through the empty rink as you watched from the bleachers. It was a late practice, and most of the team had already left. But your boyfriend, Jack wasn’t quite done yet. He was the last to skate, always pushing himself a little longer than the rest, always a bit more determined to be the best.
You sat with your knees pulled up to your chest, absentmindedly scrolling through your phone, though your eyes kept flicking up to watch Jack. The way he moved on the ice, the confidence in every stride, every shot.
“Stay away from him, (Y/N). He’s trouble.”
You’d heard those words so many times that they had started to feel like a broken record in your head. But despite your father’s warnings, you couldn’t help the way your heart raced whenever you saw Jack, or how he made you feel when he smiled at you. Finally, as he finished up his last lap around the rink, he skated over to the bench where you were sitting. He pulled off his helmet, his damp hair sticking to his forehead, and threw a towel over his shoulder.
“Hey, what are you doing here so late?” he asked, his voice warm, though there was an edge to it.
You shrugged, trying to act casual.
“Just needed some air. You know, thinking about… stuff.”
Jack raised an eyebrow, clearly not buying it. He leaned against the bench, crossing his arms, looking at you with that trademark smirk of his.
“Stuff, huh? You’re not gonna tell me what kind of ‘stuff’ you’re thinking about?”
You bit your lip. You knew he was trying to get a rise out of you. Jack had a way of doing that—making you feel like you were the only one in the room, even if there were a hundred people around.
You hesitated.
“I was thinking about… us.”
He stopped mid-smirk, his gaze softening.
“Us?”
You nodded, your heart thudding in your chest.
“Yeah. My dad. He doesn’t want me to be around you. He thinks you're bad news.”
“I mean I’m not a saint” Jack let out a laugh, but there was no humor to it.
“I just want you to know, even if my dad doesn’t like you, I do, and thats what matters. My dad doesn’t see you when you get me flowers, or when you do little things for me. He only sees how you act on the ice as how you act in public. I see every part of you, and I love you.” you explain, looking up at him, both of you having tears in your eyes.
“Cmon lets get out of here before I cry on the ice” Jack said softly
Later, as you and Jack wandered through the streets under the cover of darkness, the world felt like it belonged to just the two of you. You forgot about everything else,about your dad’s warnings. All that mattered was the feeling of Jack’s hand in yours, the sound of his laughter in the air, and the way he made you feel like nothing could go wrong.
So close your eyes Escape this town for a little while, oh oh
The evening air was warm but fading, the last remnants of daylight slipping away like the final notes of a song you didn’t want to end. You leaned against the hood of your car, watching the orange glow of the setting sun bleed into the horizon. It had been a long day. A long month, really. The constant pressure, the expectations, the routine—it all felt so heavy sometimes. You needed a break, needed to get away, even if it was just for a little while.
That’s when you saw the headlights coming down the road.
You smiled to yourself. Of course, it was Jack. He always knew when you needed a little escape.
The engine of his truck rumbled softly as he pulled up beside you. The moment the car stopped, he was already getting out, his familiar grin lighting up his face. You couldn't help but smile back, even though the weight of everything still tugged at you.
"Hey," he said, walking over to you with that relaxed, confident stride. "You ready to go?"
"Go?" you asked, raising an eyebrow. "Go where?"
Jack's grin only widened.
"I don’t know. Somewhere better than here. Somewhere we can just... forget about everything. You in?"
You hesitated for only a moment. You knew what he was asking. You could already feel the excitement buzzing beneath your skin. Jack had this way of making things seem like they were going to be exactly what you needed, even when you didn’t know what you needed yourself.
"Yeah," you said, pushing yourself off the hood of the car. "Let’s go."
The two of you didn’t have a set destination. You never really did when it came to Jack. He wasn’t about planning, and somehow, that made everything feel a little more thrilling. He pulled out of your quiet suburban neighborhood, the low hum of the tires on the road accompanying the soft music playing from the radio.
"Think we’ll be back by sunrise?" you asked, your voice light with amusement, but also that quiet, giddy thrill that came with running away from everything.
Jack shrugged, his eyes glinting with mischief.
"Who says we have to go back at all?"
You laughed softly, but the idea lingered in the back of your mind. Maybe Jack didn’t feel the pressure the way you did. Maybe he didn’t have the same worries about responsibilities and future decisions hanging over his head. You envied that about him sometimes. But there was also something freeing about being with him, about leaving it all behind, even if just for a few hours.
The town faded away, the bright lights replaced by the soft glow of moonlight as you drove down empty back roads, the windows rolled down, the air cooling your skin.
"So, what’s the plan?" you asked, turning your head toward him as he navigated the winding road. "What are we running away from this time?"
Jack gave you a sideways glance, his fingers drumming lightly on the steering wheel. "Not running away," he said softly. "Just... escaping. For a little while."
You were quiet for a moment, letting his words settle in. There was something about the way he said it—so simply, so effortlessly—that made everything feel like it would be okay. Like the world outside this little bubble of time you were creating didn’t matter.
"So close your eyes," Jack added, almost like he was reading your mind. "We’ll escape this town for a little while. No one can stop us."
You didn’t hesitate. You closed your eyes, just for a second, and let the rhythm of the truck’s engine, the cool breeze, and Jack’s presence wash over you. It wasn’t about where you were going—it was about being with him, leaving the small things behind, even if just for the moment.
Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone
The night was still young, but it was already the kind of evening where the world seemed to quiet down. The sound of cicadas hummed lazily in the background, and the cool, crisp air of late summer hung around like a promise of change. You were sitting on the porch of your apartment, your feet tucked up underneath you as you leaned against the railing, watching the stars blink lazily in the dark sky above.
It had been one of those week, busy, hectic, filled with things that you had to do rather than the things you wanted to do. Work, friends, family, social obligations. Sometimes it felt like there wasn’t a moment for yourself, let alone a moment with Jack.
But tonight was different.
You glanced at your phone, checking the time for what felt like the hundredth time. Jack had texted you earlier, promising he’d be over soon. And now, as the minutes stretched on, your anticipation only grew.
Just as you were about to head inside, your phone buzzed with a new message.
Jack: "I’m here, just pulled up."
You smiled to yourself, already feeling that familiar excitement bubble up inside you. Jack was the kind of guy who always knew how to make things feel effortless. Even when life got chaotic, when schedules collided and time seemed to slip through your fingers, he always found a way to make sure you had your moments.
You grabbed your jacket from the chair beside you, stepping off the porch just as Jack’s truck rolled up to the curb. He parked, cut the engine, and hopped out with that same easy confidence that never failed to make your heart race.
“Hey,” you said softly as he approached, feeling the soft night breeze tug at your hair. Jack was wearing a hoodie and jeans, looking effortlessly casual yet impossibly cute.
“Hey,” Jack grinned, his eyes lighting up when he saw you. He immediately stepped forward, pulling you into a hug that felt like a quiet reassurance. His arms wrapped around you as if to say, I’m here, and everything else can wait. You breathed him in, his scent, the warmth of his skin, the feeling of home.
After a beat, he pulled away slightly, cupping your face in his hands.
“I missed you,” he murmured, his voice low and tender, as if the rush of the world had quieted just for the two of you.
“I missed you too,” you whispered back, your fingers tracing the outline of his jaw, the connection between you both undeniable.
Jack’s gaze softened as he looked down at you, his lips curling into a smile.
“I was thinking,” he started, a mischievous glint dancing in his eyes. “What if we got away? Just the two of us. Somewhere we can be alone.”
You blinked, your heart skipping a beat. You didn’t need him to say much else; you knew exactly what he meant. He was always so thoughtful, so aware of the small moments where you both could just step outside the chaos and into something that was just about the two of you.
You grinned, stepping back slightly to look him in the eyes. “
Somewhere we can be alone?” you repeated, a playful edge in your voice. “You really think you can get me to leave the city and have an adventure with you?”
Jack chuckled, his fingers brushing against yours.
“You know I can,” he teased, his voice light. “All you have to do is say yes.”
You didn’t need much more convincing.
“Alright, Romeo. Take me somewhere we can be alone.”
Jack’s smile widened, and without another word, he took your hand, leading you toward his truck. You could feel the weight of the world lifting as he opened the door for you, his hands gentle, as if everything in this moment was somehow sacred.
The ride was easy, the kind of drive that made you feel like the world was behind you and everything ahead was a little more exciting. The radio played quietly in the background, a mix of old songs and new tunes, the soft glow of the streetlights fading as Jack drove you both toward the outskirts of town.
You didn’t ask where you were going. It didn’t matter. With Jack, there was something freeing about letting go of control, about letting him lead you to a place where you could forget everything else.
You’ll never have to be alone, I love you and that's all I really know
It was one of those rare, quiet afternoons where time seemed to stretch, where the usual noise of the world quieted down, and all you could hear was the steady rhythm of your own heartbeat. You were curled up on the couch in Jack’s apartment, a soft blanket draped over your legs, while the faint sounds of an old playlist you both loved filled the room.
Jack was sitting beside you, his arm around your shoulders, a half-empty coffee cup in his hand. He hadn’t said much, but the comfort of his presence was enough. Sometimes, there was no need for words.
The week had been hectic, meetings, practices, and everything in between. Jack had a big game coming up, and you could see the exhaustion written on his face. But in these quiet moments, when the world outside was on pause, everything felt like it could wait. All that mattered was now.
You shifted slightly, your head finding its way to his chest, the steady beat of his heart lulling you into a peaceful calm. His hand rested gently on your waist, fingers absentmindedly tracing patterns on your skin.
"You know," Jack murmured after a while, his voice soft and warm, "sometimes I forget how much I love these quiet moments. Just us."
You smiled against his shirt, the weight of the words making your heart swell. You had always loved how easy it was to be with him, how, even in the rush of his busy life, he always found time for you.
"You say that now," you teased, glancing up at him with a playful smirk, "but wait until the next practice or game. You'll be back to your crazy, high-energy self."
Jack laughed, the sound of it filling your chest with warmth.
"I guess you're right." He paused, then added, his tone shifting into something more sincere, "But even when everything’s moving fast, you're the one thing I know I can count on. I love you. And that's all I really know."
Your breath caught in your throat, his words landing like a soft touch against your soul. You lifted your head slightly to look at him, his brown eyes meeting yours with an intensity that made your heart race.
"You never have to be alone, you know that, right?" he added, his voice gentle but unwavering. "Not as long as I’m here."
There was something in the way he said it—like he meant every word, like he was offering you a promise. And in that moment, you knew with certainty that no matter what happened, no matter where life took you both, Jack would always be there.
You reached up to cup his face in your hands, studying the curve of his jaw, the warmth of his skin, the way his lips turned up ever so slightly when he looked at you.
"I know," you whispered, your voice thick with emotion. "I feel it every day. I love you, Jack."
He smiled, a soft, genuine smile that made your heart flutter in your chest. "I’m never going anywhere," he murmured, pulling you closer until his forehead was resting against yours.
"You’ll never have to be alone."
The world outside continued to move, people rushing through their busy lives, their own challenges and struggles. But here, in this little bubble of calm, time seemed to stop. It was just the two of you, and that was enough.
"You’re my person, (Y/N)," Jack said, his words so quiet, so intimate. "And I’m yours."
You nodded, a slow smile forming as you wrapped your arms around him, letting yourself melt into the comfort of his embrace.
"I know," you repeated softly, the words sinking deep into your heart. "And that’s all I really need."
For a long while, neither of you said anything more. You didn’t need to. The quiet moments, the stillness between you, were enough to convey everything that words couldn’t. And in the stillness of those moments, you knew that you were home.
As Jack gently kissed the top of your head, you realized that love didn’t have to be complicated. It didn’t have to be grand gestures or sweeping declarations. Sometimes, love was found in the quiet, in the little things, in the promise that no matter what, you’d always have each other.
And with Jack, you knew you would never have to be alone.
