Unit 01: Ramza Beoulve, himself (Age 16): Kinda gormless but revolutionized the curly forelock industry—Nero Scaeva owes so much to this kid. Apparently gets a dump truck ass in the next chapter:
(Note Bene: The part of Ramza Beoulve will be played by 2B from NieR Automata, or possibly Zenos Galvus walking around on his knees ala Tim Conway as "Dorf"...)
Unit 02: Carmine Félix (Age 19): A hire from the Gariland Adventurer's Guild. He came all the way from the port city of Warjilis for reasons he tries very hard to keep to himself, but so far Ramza has at least sussed out that he ran away from home as to avoid inheriting ownership of the family's lucrative lingerie business:
"Aye, I guess when you get down to brass tacks, I'm just not that into ladies' underwear..." (or so Ramza overheard once)
Despite a general distaste for war he seems to have some experience as a field medic, or more specifically a field veterinarian ("Human, chocobo, what's the difference save a few dozen feathers?"). After hours he plays the accordion well and often, to everyone's dismay.
Unit 03: Alainne Félix (Age 21): First cousin of the previous and hired at the same time. A Dorter native, Ramza and Delita met her at the Guild while seeking an escort to Eagrose. Taking pity on the youngsters, she agreed to the job and even discounted her usual hiring fee. Considering she brought her cousin along for no additional charge, this turned out to be a real bargain (at least until he started playing the accordion).
Unlike Carmine, she has the heart of a warrior and the brawn to match. She'll gladly throw hands (or feet) any time, any place; it is said she came to Gariland looking for a challenge after defeating all of Dorter's best barroom brawlers.
Unit 04: Sir Reginald de Vroome (Age: 38): Came into Ramza's employ while the group passed through Dorter Trade City on their way back to Eagrose. Apparently an acquaintance of Alainne's, who, in her words, "owes [her] one". The archetypal down-on-his-luck mercenary who would not be out of place tilting at windmills in a forlorn wheat field somewhere near Fovoham—his place of origin.
During the Fifty Years War, he (self-reportedly) served as a Lancer in the king's royal guard in Lesalia—frankly his lurid tales are a bit difficult to parse through the fog of crapulence that constantly engulfs him.
Unit 07: Ophellia Stamp (Age 16): A classmate of Ramza's from the Gariland Military Akademy. The eldest daughter of a local aristocrat, she proved more hesitant to leave Ramza's side than his other classmates. However, her reluctance did not arise from fear so much as it arose from her hobby of collecting "trinkets of affection" from "handsome and well-to-do fellas" like Delita and Ramza and maybe Ramza's brother Zalbaag (she was not impressed with Dycedarg): Commoners need not apply!
To everyone's disbelief she is currently "working on" getting "something good" out of Argath, who seems to be buying her little Doxy Act hook, line, and sinker (oh for heaven's sake!).
SPECIAL GUESTS:
Unit 25: Delita Heiral (Age 16): Lowborn son of a farming family and Ramza's BFF 5evr! Indeed, nothing in the world could possibly separate these two and end their wonderful friendship!
Unit 26: Argath Thadalfus (Age 16): (prolonged groan)
I think I have modded NieR Automata so badly that I cant play it without mods any more.
Validating the files dont work. I removed all my skin mods and now I get an "ran out of memory" while it tries to load pl020d.dtt, which is 9S if I remember correctly.
I didnt get this error before. I only got it after I removed the 9S mods.
I am currently revalidating NieR Automata to see if this is the case.
The issues started with stages 11-07, 12-01, 12-02, 13-01 crashing for seemingly no particular reason, but now I get that memory issue on all stages
Far away from the mining pits in Kholusia,
There’s an abandoned factory among the rocky ruins.
With the seal to its entrance now broken,
Machine lifeforms wake up from their slumber…
The sun rises to a new chapter
Casting long shadows across the borderlands
From the depths of the forgotten ruins
The Copied Factory stands tall and alone
02.
Metallic noises clashing with nature’s silence
A paradox repeating like no tomorrow
Foreboding as the path ahead may seem
The light’s warmth continues to push me on
03.
Waves after waves of automatons
Rounds after rounds of explosions
I refuse to stop for just one second
For I can feel it—the end is near
04.
With every step closer to the origin
The thrill of my blade meeting machines
Lights glowing redder, blinking faster…
Until everything stands still again
05.
A moment’s respite
In the dim hubris
The gears of fate whirl
To the beginning of despair
06.
Bursting out of the darkness
Tumbling into the falling snowscape
Engine steams turning into white dust
With the Angel of Destruction before me
07.
A fierce battle ensues
Of blade clashing metal
Ice shattering at the final blow
Revealing a lonely, dying soul
08.
Restlessness echoing through the wasteland
Earth rumbling, clouds rolling
What’s beyond the swirling mist, I do not know
All I hear is the bloodlust calling out to me
09.
I may be only one person
But I’ll keep believing
This weight on my shoulders
Will lift off like birds in the sky
AUTHOR’S NOTE.
This work is based on the visuals in The Copied Factory, the first alliance raid in the “YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse” questline released in Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers.
Another source of inspiration comes from “Weight of the World”, a song originally used in NieR: Automata, composed by Keiichi Okabe. In the original soundtrack, there are four different versions of this piece:
“Weight of the World/English”, featuring J’Nique Nicole as the vocalist.
“Weight of the World/壊レタ世界ノ歌”, featuring the vocals of Marina Kawano.
“Weight of the World/Nouveau-FR Version”, sung by Emi Evans in Chaos Language.
“Weight of the World/the End of YoRHa”, a remix of the three versions above with a prelude in 8-bit format.
