GhostMeg/JedMeg Phantom AU where Meg isn't Christine, but a very competent stagehand who's good at running around and managing props and lights, and keeps getting closer to her sweet stagehand friend, with an excellent knowledge of the theater they work in, while getting menaced/seduced by the murderous Phantom, who also has excellent knowledge of the theater. Literally been hoarding this ask for weeks because I didn't want to part with it without any art because I'm so insanely in love with this concept bestie you don't understand I'm feral right now--

Meg thinks Jed is just teasing her with ghost stories as a way of flirting, like he's making up this excuse on the fly as a reason why they should totally stick together to make sure neither of them get attacked by the elusive Ghost haunting the theater. Or maybe Jed does think these stories are real and wants to be extra cautious, which honestly makes him even dorkier and cuter to Meg, so it's still a win for him either way.

It's all fun and games until the body of a skeevy stagehand is dropped from the catwalk to be hanged by rope pulleys, which what the hell!!! Meg had those perfectly set up for the next show, man!!! Who's fucking with her hard work and ruining her gear??? Oh yeah also there's a dead guy that's kind of Not Good...

But that's the thing about ghost stories, they always insist to be true. And the Ghost himself is very eager to make Meg believe in him, no matter how much she tries to wave off Jed's concerns that she's being "haunted". What's more likely -- some kind of vengeful spirit living in secret catacombs tormenting the theater for sick pleasure, or simply a series of explainable accidents due to old equipment and careless workers? The reason nothing bad has happened to Meg and Jed is because they're actually good at their jobs, clearly.

Anyways, hey, did you ever notice that crack in the wall in the prop storage can be popped open to reveal a full door? Meg's gonna go check it out now, finding a basement space would be great to put spare lighting equipment (:

I was gunna argue with you on your take about Charlotta and the musical but then you said this "ALW turns Carlotta from a threatening rival for Christine to defeat into a paper-thin bully for Erik to humiliate." and now I get it and I will never listen to the musical the same way again.

I'm not trying to talk anyone out of enjoying the musical for what it is. I still do enjoy it myself, even if I want to discuss its flaws. Fundamentally I think that's a problem that runs through ALW's work in general we get very one-dimensional side characters who sometimes exist as a means to make the protagonist look better by comparison and in some cases that's actually detrimental.

Christine in the musical doesn't really have a rivalry with Carlotta. Carlotta mostly just swings her weight around and gets the managers to bend to her demands at Christine's expense. She's not even particularly mean to Christine except in one instance where she says "your part is silent little toad" but I don't actually get the vibe that she cares that much and is more angry that the managers seem to be disrespecting her in favor of the new girl. It's Andre and Firman who get most of her ire, the managers ultimately have to BEG her to stay (Prima Donna) because she would gladly have fucked off. Tbh it's giving Beef from Phantom of the Paradise more than book Carlotta.

Carlotta in the musical commits the sin of being annoying to the audience so when Erik humiliates her we feel she gets her comeuppance but ultimately aside from being full of herself and threatening to leave when management doesn't meet her demands, which are inclusive of, *checks notes* Not being sabotaged during her performances by a maniac and not handing her career to a chorus girl who can't even name her teacher. On paper she's not actually being that unreasonable, she's just kind of a spoiled bitch. Book Carlotta pulls out all the stops to keep her position and plays dirty to actively target Christine and Christine has to prove she deserves this woman's career and when she finally does it's a huge payoff moment. It's a personal triumph for Christine herself and a character moment that shows that Christine actively WANTS to be on stage and has it in her to fight back.

opinion on chase and dexter.

you know i really want carlotta to meet the faculty and coach brunt and gray.

carlotta is gonna get such a biased version of gray that it cackles me up.

I can just imagine carmen telling her about gray and her response is "so you inherited my taste in bad boys".

you know, i understand why people think that if el topo killed someone he'll feel really guilty nut like he's the one to remind crackle that no witnesses should be left behind he's a cinnamon roll who can kill you.

rn i'm giggling at the idea of someone catching carmen and grey making out.

Commander is adorable.

1)i like them! Chase i maintain has the best line about the trufffles in his brain in s2. vivid imagery. poetic. and he gets such a solid and clear arc so congrats dude!! i really also like in s1 where he doesn't really buy that mimebomb is important but does have a tactic to keep tabs on him . tenacious, resiliant, and really intelligent sometimes. a lot of fun to watch and occasionally hear the out of pocket things he can say, he starts out abrasive but seeing him soften up and do what he can do best is fun and rewarding

dexter we don't get much but he was literally so!!! for getting only barely caught on cameras dating carms mom (which he refused to stop doing heck yeah <3) and doing his best to long con his way OUT of VILE for all of their sakes. and as a VILE agent? he was so smooth like steal those jewels, fly away, get paid for minimal teaching...ajsdnfasdkfn cool. RIPERONIS you were pretty cool

i really hope that carmen gets told by her mom that she has her dads eyes it was such an awwww moment when she said it. :( + just ugh can you imagine the conversations if she gets even more hints of similar things between them...ughhhhh carmen would really hold that dear...

2) hmmmmmmm like i really am into maybe her mom wanting to occasionally help carmen and that could happen VIA that (faculty and brunt) as for GRAY...

3) asdkjfnaslkfdjasd ok carmen gives literally all of gray's good points in such heart eyes and happy voice that the context of how carmen knows this just like makes her go "WAIT WAT" but lmao the idea of them falling for bad boys who are actually so soft and will do whatever it takes and actually turn over a new leaf <3 [i do think she might be a little harsher in her opinion on gray at first because thats her baby >:( waddyumeanyou! but like

and him being decent at corralling all those kids...not great he almost lost a couple but decent (he is good at charming distractions but gets snippy at the troublemakers if any...he's the only troublemaker allowed there<3) + always my evidences that he was the one who split up carmen and sheenas fights, the boys looked at him when they needed help at the tunnel, lmao he actually did have a decent distraction of codenames at the ready, and he's a head patter with a chill laid back disposition he projects...he can distract them with candyland for an hour...i think he can catch their attention like lmao he has such de facto group leader energy even if its not what he primarily does/the role he always wants...can he hold it tho...

or even a seriousish conversation after with gray realizing that was her trusting him lol + just long way round is still the way around conversation

5)...is that a thing? i mean el topo initially felt really bad about carmen because they were friends and might* have felt bad for shadowsan because he was his teacher but le chevre just tells him to focus on the bad parts of his class to get over it. old man in the desert who he has no attachment to? crackle remember to kill him + next time le chevre/ el topo both get over any lingering attachments and el topo even captures carmen with a smile and an ho-la. cinnamon roll who can kill.

6)I NEED THAT SO BAD ! NEED THEM TO BE INSEPARABLE AND INSUFFERABLE AND GET CAUGHT BEING ABSOLUTELY INTO EACH OTHER AND ABSOLUTELY SO HAPPY. askjdfnaskfjna and absolutely with only half an idea of what to do when caught

i don't get how you think carlotta and jackie took advantage of matt and tim.... like matt and tim are both the ones who instigated/pushed that forward so idk why it's on the women and not the men? like that maybe feels a bit sexist of you tbh

tim is a 17 year old alcoholic with no support system living in a rundown house with his idiot older brother, who is barely even an adult himself, who is also an alcoholic. he has never had an ounce of stability in his entire life.

matt is a hyper-parentified 17 year old boy with perpetual abandonment issues who has spent his entire life effectively on his own. and not just on his own, but also responsible for paying bills and buying food and cooking food and cleaning the house and also, last but not least, literally being responsible for the life of his senile grandmother, which even he admits is crushing him.

jackie and bo are the first taste of something domestic and stable that tim has basically ever had, so of course he latched onto that. carlotta is the only person in matt's life that's ever genuinely taken some of the burden off of him and actually taken care of him, instead of him having to constantly take care of everything and everyone around him. of course he latched onto her. they are both desperate, struggling, extremely traumatized kids.

but they were, and i cannot emphasize this enough, 17 year old kids, and these were fully grown adult women. tim and matt might've made the initial overtures, but it was the responsibility of the literal adults to shut that down. but neither of them did! they instead had sex with teenage boys they knew were emotionally vulnerable, and that's predatory regardless of whether they were women or not lmao

As much as CC was loathe to admit it, Jacob knew how to play her body as well as his favorite instrument. One of his hands wrapped firmly around her neck as the other disappeared below the waistline of her pants, stroking in firm, sure movements.

Her hips followed the movement, chasing a release he didn’t want her to have yet. Normally one to choke her pride rather than swallow it, CC was an absolute mess of mindless babbles and “please” whenever he’d stop.

Do you think Raquel is a better source for getting a phantom fabric thing? I want a piece of the fabric but idk who to trust anymore after the Rory problems

I think she's a better source but I will say I feel like her pendants are very overpriced. It is still scraps that never touched an actual costume and $100+ for a small circle of it seems like a lot. Rory's at least were a reasonable $30 and you get more of the fabric than what you get from Raquel. For her Don Juan stuff, it wouldn't cost much more to buy the actual full prop which pops up on ebay all the time instead of just getting a small cutout. If the prices are worth it to you though, I do think her stuff is legitimate. I hope it is anyway

Mayfair Witches Ep 3

After the improvement of Ep 2, sad to say we're back to Ep 1's level of quality. Or even worse. That was the most awkward and jarring almost-50-minutes ep I've ever watched. Some actors really tried. I could see the actors of Deidre, Carlotta, and Cip are actually good, but those lines omg. The lines are really the weakest link in this show. They remind me of X-Men: The Dark Phoenix (2019) where all lines Jessica Chastain got in that movie really sound like one of those pitch presentation on Why You Should Turn Evil. They're that bad. No matter how great an actor is, they could only do so much with bad lines. I literally facepalmed on "are you kidding me?" (I like Alex, but she's really not convincing as someone who got into shock and lost).

Second weakest link is the editing. The transition between scenes are even more awkward in this ep than in Ep 1.

Third, chemistry doesn't exist in this show. I'm so sorry. Cip and Rowan are kinda cute at the end, but it's awkward because the cinematography screams at you "This is a profound scene!" but I didn't feel it. Again, everything the showrunner said sound good, but I feel bad because I can't see it in the episode itself 😭
