Bear + Rik @theartofruling
Location: Tipsy Cow (Beer Garden), Dark World
-😈-
"How in the hell," Bear started, the apples of his cheeks prominent and blue eyes eased into amused slits towards Rik as he spoke. "Do you have two wives before I do?" It was said jokingly but truth was there in Finnian's inquiry. A large index finger pointed at Rik, the air between the two jovial, before Bear laughed out loud and shook his head. "No, seriously. Congrats, Rik." Seconds later, he lifted the frosted beer mug he'd ordered while awaiting their appetizers, in toast and took a nice sip. "You know what you want to order yet? Or do you still need more time?" He asked, meaning food. "I heard the new beer sampler's good. Wanna try it?" The Tipsy Cow not only had an in-house brewery but built a nice reputation for creating and rotating their own seasonal beers.
"Plus, I thought it was overdue for me to take you out on a date, handsome." Bear complimented his fellow guardian faerie. Even sending an over-exaggerated wink to Rik, his shoulders shaking with noticeable laughter. "Since you've gone and got double married on me and shit. Do I need to get you and Evren a wedding gift? Or can my love and good wishes count?"

"Adrik," His name escaped her lips in a near breathless, whisper. Evren's arms wrapping around his neck while his own took her into his hold, pressing her against him. It wasn't often that she actually called the guardian faerie by his actual name. Not fully. If anything, she preferred Rikard over Adrik. Dark brown eyes lifted to meet Rik's gaze as a flush of color noticeably touched the nymph's cheeks. "I'm sorry," The apples of her cheeks rose with a light smile and the tips of Evren's fingers grazed the edges of Rik's hair at the nape of his neck as they kissed. "I didn't mean to make you wait. I just-" Evren bit her bottom lip, her gaze briefly moving to the set up table for their lunch, and the flush on her face spread to the top of her neck as the desire to thoroughly celebrate with him grew. "I know you have all of my favorite things. And thank you. I don't mind eating but-" She looked him in the eyes. "But food really is the last thing on my mind for a meal, right now." Evren shared honestly in a low voice as one of her hands eased from his hairline to teasingly trail the pads of a finger along his neck and then under his jaw; unable to keep her hands to herself.
At the mention of it, Evren's gaze flickered from Rik's handsome face and onto the new breathtaking addition to her third left finger. That hand also slid away from toying with Rik's hair and rested, palm down, on the faerie's chest. Atop of his right peck, over his shirt, laid her hand. The jewelry standing out on her limb. The reality of it all, his words, his actions, and the full unadulterated significance of Adrik's emotions washed over her. Dark brown eyes glistened in reaction and understanding of such things. Goddess, did she love him. Evren kissed Rik again, passionately, and her hand curled into his shirt as she restrained from ridding him of it. She moaned in protest when she had to pull away. "How long do we have?" She murmured against his lips, not wanting to be apart. "You are the most thoughtful," Each word was punctuated by a new kiss to Rik's lips. "Beautiful, kind," Two more kisses followed. "Absolute goddess send of a man, Rikard. I love you, Aşkım." She finished, an open and warm expression sent his way when she spoke. "Nature, I don't think I can wait. For you. 'Til after this ceremony. I want you now."
“At least their excitement didn’t give away my surprises. I would have had to have a conversation with whoever planned to snitch.” Probably wouldn’t have been a pleasant one but she didn’t have to know that part. “Lunch is all your favorite things. Straight down to your favorite beverages. But, I’m going to refrain from saying where.” He reveled in the touch of their lips but didn’t let it get him too distracted. Because he could kiss her all day, but they had other plans and a schedule.”
Her confusion made him smile. He knew her mind was trying to work out lunch in a dress shop. His heart hammered loudly in his ears as he waited for her response. “I already have, but I’m making myself absolutely clear.” As the seconds ticked away, he felt anxious for her answer. “You sure know how to hold a man in suspense.” He met her kiss with another when she said yes, placing the ring on her finger. He stood, pulling her into his arms. “Today. After lunch and after you pick out a dress. It’s why we’re here.” He kissed her again before saying, “Don’t worry, your mom and your girls are coming to help. I told you I’ve been planning a long time.”

Ambush part 2
JULIEAN EVERLONGS :-
AGE - 23
HEIGHT - 5'5
Weight - 62 kgs
FAMILY - Everlongs
Daughter of - Duke Kasper and Elena.
Specialties - Close hand combat, Tactical brilliance, strategist.
"I, Juliean Everlongs, hereby acknowledge my destiny and solemnly pledge my unwavering loyalty to the Rotangs. I vow to serve them with utmost devotion until the end of my days."
....................................................................................................................................................
Adrik Goodmen leaned over the intricately carved desk, his fingers tracing the grain of the polished wood. The room smelled of aged parchment and freshly made files - that clung to the air like cobwebs. His boyish face belied the weight of his responsibilities; a soldier by rank, but more—a confidant, a shadow to the Deadly General Valerian.
His gaze fixed on the name inscribed in bold ink: Juliean Everlongs. "Everlongs," Adrik mused, his voice a soft rasp. "Do you really think she'll remain loyal?" His fingers brushed the edge of a battle report, its ink still fresh. The words spoke of skirmishes, alliances forged, and lives lost. But Juliean's name danced through it all. General Valerian's gaze remained fixed on the parchment—a report detailing Juliean's capture. "Her loyalty," Adrik ventured, "is a delicate thread. One tug, and it unravels."
The ink had dried, but defiance lingered. "Loyalty," general murmured, "is a luxury we can't afford in these fractured times." His fingers traced Juliean's name, as if testing its edges.
The candle flames danced, casting shadows on the stone walls. "Sergeant Edward," the general commanded, "to regiment 45." His voice held no warmth, no hesitation. "That woman will work under him."
Adrik leaned across the desk, his gaze unwavering. "General," he began, "Edward still lacks experience. Juliean Everlongs—"
General Valerian cut him off with a raised hand. His eyes, pale as frost, bore into Adrik's. "Experience," he said, "is a blade that sharpens with each battle. Edward's scars tell stories—of survival, of sacrifice."
"But Juliean—" Adrik persisted.
"Juliean Everlongs," the general interrupted, "is fire and shadow. Her loyalty dances on a precipice, but Edward?" He leaned back, fingers steepled. "Edward is the bedrock of this regiment. His silence speaks volumes."
Adrik's brows furrowed. "But—"
"No room for discussion," General Valerian declared. "Edward is perfect. Juliean will learn from him—the art of survival, the weight of duty." His gaze returned to the parchment, where Juliean's name stood like a sentinel.
................................................................................................................................................................
It’s been a handful of days since they whisked us from the bunker to this cracked refuge—a small apartment, away from the city, in the soldier’s quarter. The walls sag with stories, and the floor groan beneath our boots. They’ve given us the basics: a bed, a table, and a single window that peers into an alley where soldiers can be seen - laughing, cursing, walking here and there. The neighbors are like shadows—faces etched by war, eyes that have seen too much. They nod in passing, their silence a shared language.
And then there’s the matter of my assignment: Regiment 45. I’ve researched—their reputation, their purpose. They call it a training ground for rooks, a crucible where green recruits forge their mettle. But for me, Juliean Everlongs, it’s an insult, a bitter pill. To think that I, who once commanded a hundred, will now take orders from another. The thought ignites a fire within me. But as they say - Revenge demands patience so I will wait.
Lost in my thoughts, I was startled by a knock at the door. It could be someone from the regiment or one of my acquaintances. Regardless, caution was necessary; none of them were fond of me anymore. I slipped a knife into the sleeve of my top for protection. Upon opening the door, I was met with a youthful face, likely in his twenties. His gaze was intense, almost a glare, as if trying to assert dominance over me.
"I hope you're comfortable in this quarter. Even if you're not, it doesn't matter to me. Understand that we don't trust you and—" he paused, leaning against the door frame as if he owned the place.
"My time is precious, so get to the point," I stated in a stoic voice.
He glared at me once more and cleared his throat before speaking. "Very well, I came here to inform you that training will begin tomorrow at 5 AM. Mr. Edward values punctuality. And by the way, how do you feel about being a rookie again?" he asked in a condescending tone.
"That's it? If there's nothing else, you may leave."
"One more thing," he said as he tried to punch my face. Just when he did, I brought out my knife and injured his hand. I've never encountered such a hysterical person before.
He laughed with a melancholic tone and said, "Just wanted to check if you really live up to your image. The name's Adrik." With that, he departed abruptly. I closed the door almost immediately.
I've encountered people like him before, but the madness in his voice and the hatred in his eyes were beyond anything I've seen. Life is going to be tough. He's just one person I've met who hates me, and I'm living in a country full of such people. The very thought is ironically comical.
With a sigh, I sat at the table, possessing nothing. No weapons, no plan, no allies, absolutely nothing. What I do have is the experience and intelligence I've gathered over the years. Yet, one enigma persists in my mind: this individual named Edward. Who in the world is he? I nearly know every official here, having memorized them as children learn multiplication tables. I'm familiar with the king's lineage, though I've never seen them myself. But this Edward, I've never even heard of him before.
Judging by his rank, if he has been assigned a Rookie badge, then he likely lacks experience. Typically, officials over 40 are appointed to prominent positions. The role of commander is not usually assigned to someone without years of experience. However, since this position oversees us, the outcasts, it should be held by someone with high loyalty to the country. Nearly 75% of commanders are over the age of 50 when they secure their posts. This suggests that this individual must be close to my age and quite respectable. The issue, however, is that I don't know who they are.
Patience, Julian, patience. Only tomorrow can reveal who or what this person is.

along one of the canals, dusk, the second day in Catelia ( @adrikodol )
Adrik has slipped into one of the shops along the water’s edge, something catching their eye as the two of them strolled along the canal, and he hadn’t asked why—whether there was something they wanted to look at, or buy, or whether the shop’s proprietor had angered the blood god somehow and they needed to quickly dispatch him. Either way, he knows Adrik, knows they’ll deal with whatever it is quickly and quietly and be back by his side in just a moment. Instead of following, he’d found a spot on a low stone bench to sit, watching the water grow dark as the sun slipped below the horizon, watching the boats going by.
When he feels a presence behind him, approaching, silent footsteps and smooth movements, he assumes it’s Adrik. That’s how they move: dead quiet, like a shadow, undetectable except in that he knows them so well he can feel them wherever they are. Excepet—the closer they get, the less the silent footsteps feel like Adrik, something different, about the distribution of the weight—
An arm around his throat is pinning him in place before he can turn around to see the assassin behind him, not Adrik, but someone else.
“Your kingdom sends its regards, Prince of Blossoms,” the voice behind him hisses, heavily accented with that distinctive Catelian lilt, sounding a little too pleased as it does, and the dread sets in a split second before the pain does, a blade so sharp he almost doesn’t feel it as it pierces twice, quick, once into the space along his side where the seam of his armor meets, once into the meat of his right shoulder, presumably to render his dominant arm useless.
His sword is at his side, but he can’t reach it, and pain is already radiating down his arm as he feels them move again, shifting their own weight, pinpointing the weak spots in his armor, likely searching for the quickest way to his heart. He’s heard tales, of Catelian assassins; he has maybe twelve seconds before she finds it, and a deeply limited number of options, all of them less than ideal. He can’t pull himself away from her, can’t run. As far as he can see, his only option is...
The water. Adrik will know; Adrik will be able to tell. He just has to buy himself enough time for them to get here.
He dives, into the canal, grabbing her with all the strength he has in him and dragging her with, throwing her over his own shoulder and into the water, holding her there beneath him as they both sink. Betting on the unlikely bet that this Catelian assassin can’t hold her breath as long as he can, as the clear blue water around them blossoms red with his blood.
#( &. adrik )#( &. catelia )#someday we'll finish.... our two other threads.... but for now.... here's a third RIP#blood //#sorry this is A MILLION YEARS LONG YET AGAIN

Niklas & Adrik || Training Grounds
A short fuse had never been something that he’d possessed when he was generally too good natured to be quick to anger. That didn’t mean that he was often more competitive than it was smart to be but never one prone to fights or brawls. Easy-going tended to be the descriptor that fit him better when the one he was most critical of was always himself. Even when he couldn’t help but hold others to a high standard, the ones he set for himself were always higher. So it had come as something of a surprise to him that even since the Dark World there had been a flicker of anger burning away inside of him. Some days burning hotter than others if there’d been a memory resurfacing to stoke the flames.
It was an emotion he had little experience dealing with when it was usually much more fleeting for him. But now it was weeks after he’d found Almira and the anger was still white hot. Perhaps it was because he had nowhere to truly direct it at and he was left simply trying not to lose control and let it start burning those around him. The training grounds had become something of a balm for him, finding that he could channel just enough of his frustration into either sparring or running drills by himself to cool his wrath. He’d just come to the end of a lone session when footsteps made him aware that he was no longer alone. “Just finishing up.” The call was given without looking but as he turned he saw that it was his father that had joined him. “Unless you wanted to go a couple of rounds?” There was a small smirk on his lips to hint that his words were more joke than suggestion.

adrik x lottie { @theartofruling } / the winter court
She was glad to be home again. Lottie did love the sea, but she always loved the hallowed halls of her court. She knew that she could have been content as a courtier, but her destiny beckoned her to the sea. The frost court was bustling with energy; many of the fae folk of the court were buzzing from the human resistance provoked conflict at the Highwind Glen tournament. “Rik, bróthir —” Lottie called out down the long hall and held out her arms to embrace her brother-in-law with a smile that covered her face. “Just the person I was looking for...” Her accent mirrored her sister’s Svala as she spoke, but a spitting image of her warrior father, The Great Grettirson. “I can as soon as your letter reach me. My ships are at the courts disposal.”

{ adrik & elvyra }
{ @immcrtals }
adrik wandered his way through the red light district, occasionally smiling to himself when he saw young men and women falling into each other in alleyways, exploring their hedonistic sides. he held a just lit cigarette between two of his fingers as he came upon the decrepit church he knew so well, if only by name and a few visits many years ago. adrik made his way inside, noting the similar gaudy red that had adorned the red ruby as well. only, the walls here looked a little worse for wear, likely a result of that raid adrik had heard so much about. bodies slithered against him as he pushed past, heading for the bar so he could scope out the place properly.
he settled on a stool, telling the bartender to make him a whiskey neat. he pulled from his cigarette, turning to face outwards. he rested his elbows on the black counter, eyes tracking each thing that caught his interest.

WAR WOULD ALWAYS BE FAMILIAR, no matter how many times she had brought the sun to rise over the battlefields, there would always be blood to shed. The irony in the way history repeated itself no matter where they were was no missed on her. Instead, blonde hair was tainted with dirt and blood, and wide eyes had narrowed one last time as she neared the business. Adrik probably held no desire to fight this one, but she did. Navena planned on leaning into whatever was left of their bond to convince him to take a side, but she stopped short by a wolf who was currently very clearly in the grips of the ancients. “Don’t.” She managed, before the lunge, causing her to side step. There wasn’t any reasoning with this chaos, and she knew it. Actually, she didn’t even hesitate, throwing a well placed elbow, accompanied by a satisfying crack that had them stumbling back. It was the distraction she needed, a white hot flash coming forward, and where the wolf once stood, the ground was scorched, leaving in place a blackened silhouette. That’s the thing everyone always forgot about sunshine - it could still burn. @zeroforconduct

Grishaverse couples,killing the spider edition
*Zoya: Nikolai, there is a big spider in the corner
Nikolai: Well, then kill it
Zoya: i would but (stretches arm) i...can't ...reach it
-
*Adrik pulling his sleeve up: Sorry Mr Spider, but you are a deadly venomous one and if my wife tries to pet you, she would die. Nothing personal
-
*Inej: you want me to kill it?
Kaz: I was actually wondering if you could train them to work for me.
Inej: Kaz...just because i am a "spider" doesn't mean i know my way with literal ones
Kaz: So, you can't?
Inej: No, i can , but thats not the point
-
*Alina: I trew a shoe at it, but i missed and hit Mal on the face
*Mal: i tracked it´s nest and put it a trap with a tiny box suspended by a stick, with a fake fly i made out of thread. The spider came in, stared at my trap and walked away...she looked kind of insulted
*Alina: So, instead of trying to get it individuality, we decided that two heads were better than one
*Mal: And with "two heads" we of course mean Misha and Oncat , they got it in seconds
-
*Matthias: Nina, you are a strong, powerfull and independent woman.
Hanne: You don't need our help to kill a spider, we believe in you
Nina: So you are afraid of them, and you cry
Matthias: EIGTH LEGS,NINA!
Hanne: They have families too!
-
*Tamar: One day we had a spider at home, Nadia is terrified of them. So i tried to hit it with an axe but it kept slipping so i ended up making a whole in the wall
Nadia: Then a second spider came off and i panicked so hard i flood the house. So,we agree next time, no matter how late in the night it will be, we´ll call Tolya to kill them
-
*Wylan: Jesper, we don't need more of this animals!
Jesper: The spider may still be out there, i have seen no body
Wylan: No, the lizards and frogs don't just bring you the body, they are not like cats. You know the spider is probably gone by now, you have seen it in weeks and by this point this is just an excuse for you to get more pets.
Jesper: They are "pest control service" if you don't mind
Wylan: Oh, so if they are just "pest control service" i asume you´ll get rid of them once the spider is gone
Jesper: how dare you, they are family! Frogsper and Wyzard here are in love! and you want to split them?
Wylan: "sigh" why do i have to be allways the sane one in the relationship?
One hour later
Wylan holding a cage with a huge spider inside: Quick, i need you to hide this. My room is not safe anymore with all those reptiles and frogs
Marya: Why are even keeping it?
Wylan: I wanted to open it so i could get their venom...but i couldn't do it. So maybe she´ll just spit it for me one day

Isadora + Adrik @theartofruling
Location: Isadora’s house in Haven
-🧸-
“Hi,” Isadora murmured in surprise greeting at the guest as she opened her door. It was a quiet night in Haven, akin to most of them, when her perimeter alarm sounded. “Rikard, what are you doing here?” That wasn’t his name. Not even close. But it was an old quasi-nickname that he accepted from her, long ago. Calling him that was mere habit. “Come in, please.”
Brown eyes glanced over his shoulder, into the blanket of the night sky and the woods behind him as he entered. Isadora felt it. The quiet pull, the call of nature to her as a nymph. It was why she’d bought a nice plot of land and built a home atop of it. So that she could exist, fully, as herself in Haven. The coolness of the doorknob under her palm eased away as she closed the door, back towards the wood and her focus back on Adrik.
“Is everything okay?” She paused in her words whilst leading him through the entryway and towards her living room. “Not that I don’t want to see you. I do.” A hint of color touched her cheeks, causing her to unnecessarily tuck a piece of hair behind her ear as they entered the living room. “I’ve missed you.” There was a beat. “How long will you be here?”

-🌺-
Daphne's head lowered with a quiet nod as she listened to Rik's words. "I know that she loves me. I know how much and how deeply she does." But Iris reassigning Rik to personally protect her instead of another emergent guard that he appointed was dangerous. It was a safety risk to the Divine Forest. Yet, Daphne was unable to find it within herself to be upset at the fact. When Rik confirmed her suspicions, that Iris placed her above the Forest, Daphne closed her eyes and exhaled in a shaking breath. She took a moment to focus as she wrestled with the depth of own her emotions for Iris. Her wife. Daphne sniffled and wiped at the her eyes before inhaling deeply, in an effort to center herself, as she fought the insistent urge to request that Iris rearrange her day and return to their room, and instead turned her attention back to Rik. "Sorry, I'm back. These fucking... my emotions have literally been overflowing since Kings Hill sometimes."
She sent Rik a soft yet sad partial smile as they both reflected over that time. "So," Daphne let out. "I have to change. But afterwards, we can go to the office. And you can get started on that beloved paperwork."
Daphne hummed as her head bobbed with another nod. "Yep, I am legally now Daphne Hale." She chuckled at his inquiry of whether Iris had taken the earth nymph's surname instead. "While I like Iris Meadows. She's sacrificed far too much to give up the Hale name. Besides, it's not a bad fit for me." Daphne replied with a light shrug before she rose from the bed and strolled into the walk-in closet. She continued to talk to Rik, projecting her voice for him to hear as she decided on her wardrobe and then began changing. "Oh no, trust me." Daphne laughed. "Iris will not be giving up the wedding of her dreams. Technically, we are married. But the only witnesses to that are our kids. We'll have an official, realm-wide grand celebration that we want. And it'll definitely happen this year. It was one of the only reasons why she agreed to a simple courthouse ceremony. Big wedding of her dreams and as long a honeymoon that her schedule will allow." The grin in Daphne's voice was evident.
At his quip of her not finding him attractive, she rolled her eyes as she exited the closet, in her new attire. "You're the one who's said that. I never agreed. And for a non-nymph, you blend in well with us. ...Too damn well, depending on who you ask. Ready to go?"
Adrik stayed silent letting Daphne process the lengths Iris went through for her. “Not technically against the rules when she’s the boss. It is, however, a security risk with me having a split focus. But I don’t think that makes much difference to her. Right now, you’re her number one focus. You’re more important than a realm to her, and I understand that.” He wouldn’t be where he was if he didn’t understand the way his boss thought.
Rik nodded. He hated thinking about the way the twins’ birth changed his trajectory. “You and me both. My family would be bigger in that case. But life was what it was and that part of his was something he could never shake.
When the conversation changed, he chuckled. “I don’t have to be a nymph to know you wouldn’t mean it. If you tried to apologize. Well, congrats. Are you Mrs. Hale? Or did she take your last name? I’m surprised she agreed to elope. I always thought she would want the grand wedding.” At the thought of recommending someone to replace him in this new duty, he knew it wasn’t going to be easy. “I’m working on it. I have a few people in mind. But I’m going to be working on their training, retesting them physically and mentally to make sure they’re fit for it. I’ll be working on some paperwork while I join you. I’ve got to go wherever you go,” he reminded her. “Everyone finds me attractive in your office except you. But yes, I chat with her just to see her flustered.”

my favorite grishaverse quotes - part three: nikolai duology
"Zoya of the lost city. Zoya of the garden. Zoya bleeding in the snow. You are strong enough to survive the fall." (King of Scars)
"This is what love does. In the stories, love healed your wounds, fixed what was broken, allowed you to go on. But love wasn’t a spell, some kind of benediction to be whispered, a balm or a cure-all. It was a single, fragile thread, which grew stronger through connection, through shared hardship and trust." (Rule of Wolves)
"Most of us can hide our greatest hurts and longings. It’s how we survive each day. We pretend the pain isn’t there, that we are made of scars instead of wounds." (King of Scars)
"'Get a message to the Crow Club,' she said. 'Tell Kaz Brekker the queen of Ravka has a job for him.'" (Rule of Wolves)
"Do that thing you do where you use too many words to say something simple and confuse the issue." (King of Scars)
"'I’m not supposed to let you in,' Jesper said. Brekker seemed unperturbed. 'Why not?' 'Because every time I do, you ask me to break the law.' A voice from behind Jesper said, 'The problem isn’t that he asks, it’s that you always say yes.'" (Rule of Wolves)
"'Say something spiteful.' "'Why?' she asked faintly. "'Because I’m fairly certain I'm hallucinating and in my dreams you're much nicer.'" (King of Scars)
"Because I am greedy for the sight of you. Because the prospect of facing this war, this loss, without you fills me with fear. Because I find I don’t want to fight for a future if I can’t find a way to make a future with you." (Rule of Wolves)
"It's not exciting if nothing can go wrong." (King of Scars)
"I would choose you, Zoya. As my general, as my friend, as my bride. I would give you a sapphire the size of an acorn. And all I would ask in return is that you wear this damnable ribbon in your hair on our wedding day." (Rule of Wolves)
"Everyone mourns the first blossom. Who will grieve the rest who fall?" (King of Scars)
"'I have to bathe. I smell like a forest fire.' 'You smell like wildflowers. You always do. What can I say to make you stay?' His words trailed off into a drowsy mumble as he fell back asleep. 'Tell me it’s more than war and worry that makes you speak those words. Tell me what they would mean if you weren’t a king and I weren’t a soldier.'" (Rule of Wolves)
"Remember who you are. Nikolai knew. He was a king who had only begun to make mistakes. He was a solider for whom the war would never be over. He was a bastard left alone in the woods. And he was not afraid to die this day." (King of Scars)
"Maybe the gift of being human is that we do not give up- even when all hope is lost." (Rule of Wolves)
"They would build a new world together. But first they had to burn the old one down." (King of Scars)
"The world might crumble, but Nikolai Lantsov would be holding up the ceiling with one hand and plucking a speck of dirt from his lapel with the other when it all went to ruin." (Rule of Wolves)
"'Yuri Veneden, if you upset my wife again, I will kill you where you stand.' The monk swallowed. 'Yes, moi soverenyi.' 'Oh, David,' Genya said, taking his hand. 'You've never theatened to murder anyone for me before.'" (King of Scars)
"Go home and tell them what you've seen, Nikolai thought as the demon soared through the night. Make them believe you. Tell them the demon king rules Ravka now and vengeance is coming." (Rule of Wolves)
"She wished she had Inej’s gift for spywork or Kaz’s gift for scheming, but she only seemed to have Jesper’s gift for bad decisions." (King of Scars)
"Let the hounds give chase. I do not fear death, because I command it." (Rule of Wolves)
"'Will you be taking up juggling as well?' 'Don't be ridiculous,' Nikolai replied. 'I already know how to juggle. Literally and figuratively.'" (King of Scars)
"'This is a bad idea,' moped Adrik. 'I have a surplus of bad ideas,' said Nikolai. 'I have to spend them somewhere.'" (Rule of Wolves)
"He would not find another excuse to get her talking again. He would not tell her he was afraid to be left alone with the thing he might become, and he would not ask her to leave the lamp burning, a child's bit of magic to ward off the dark. But he was relieved when she did it anyway.” (King of Scars)
"The Darkling's gray eyes studied Mal with more interest than he'd ever shown before. 'I understand we're blood related.' Mal shrugged. 'We all have relatives we don't like.'" (Rule of Wolves)
"Zoya's company was like strong drink. Bracing--and best to abstain if you couldn't handle the kick.” (King of Scars)
"'Don't get ahead of yourself,' Zoya said. 'Nikolai hasn't asked.' 'Can you blame him?' Genya said. 'He hasn't had much luck with proposals.' Alina snorted. 'Maybe he should have offered me a dynasty and not a piddly little emerald.'" (Rule of Wolves)
"'Hand me that brandy,' said Zoya. 'I can’t tolerate this degree of stupidity on a clear head.'" (King of Scars)
"'Is it the shadow inside you that makes you brave?' 'I should hope not. I was making bad decisions long before that thing showed up.'" (Rule of Wolves)
"'That squash is as wide as I am tall,' Nikolai said beneath his breath as he smiled and waved. 'And twice as handsome.' 'Half as handsome,' he protested. 'Ah,' said Zoya, 'but the squash doesn't talk.'" (King of Scars)
"I'll tell you a thousand stories, my love. We'll write the new endings, one by one." (Rule of Wolves)
"After all this time, she still had not found an end to her grief. It was a dark well, an echoing place into which she’d once cast a stone, sure that it would strike bottom and she would stop hurting. Instead, it just kept falling. She forgot about the stone, forgot about the well, sometimes for days or even weeks at a time. Then she would think Liliyana’s name, or her eye would pause on the little boat painted on her bedroom wall, its two-starred flag frozen in the wind. She’d sit down to write a letter and realize she had no one to write to, and the quiet that surrounded her became the silence of the well, of the stone still falling." (King of Scars)
"I would make you my queen because I want you. I want you all the time." (Rule of Wolves)
"'Eat, Your Highness.' 'Everything tastes like doom,' he whispered. 'Then add salt.'" (King of Scars)
"Ravka made me a soldier. Ketterdam made me a spy. Hanne can help me become something else entirely." (King of Scars)
"'You do realize you just referred to yourself as the queen. That means you agreed.' 'I am going to kill you.' 'So long as you kiss me again before you do.'" (Rule of Wolves)
"'I'm fairly sure you're trying to frighten me,' said Nikolai, reaching out a finger to touch the tip of the thorn. 'I'm not sure why, but may I suggest a spider wearing a suit?' 'Why a suit?' asked Zoya, frowning. 'Why not just a spider?' 'Where did he get the suit? How did he fasten the buttons? Why does he feel the need to dress for the occasion?'" (King of Scars)
"'Your heart is in your eyes, Your Highness,' murmured Tamar, wiping the sweat from her brow. Tolya poled his twin in the arm with a sparring sword. 'Tamar knows because that's the way she looks at her wife' 'I am free to look at my wife any way I please.'" (Rule of Wolves)
"In Nikolai's experience, honesty was much like herbal tea - something well-meaning people recommended when they were out of better options." (King of Scars)
"We would go on, you and I. If I couldn't be queen, you would find a way to win this battle and save this country. You would make a sheltering place for my people. You would march an bleed and crack terrible jokes until you had done all you said you would. I suppose that's why I love you." (Rule of Wolves)
"'I think fatigue suits you, Zoya. The pallor. The shadows beneath your eyes. You look like a heroine in a novel.' 'I look like a woman about to step on your foot.' 'Now, now. You're managing remarkably well. And the smiling hasn't killed you yet.' 'Yet.'" (King of Scars)
"'Why does it matter?' asked Nikolai. 'Because unlike Kaz, I have a conscience.' 'I have a conscience,' said Kaz. 'It just knows when to keep its mouth shut.' Jesper snorted. 'If you have a conscience, it’s gagged and tied to a chair somewhere.'" (Rule of Wolves)
"So you know the best way to find Grisha who don't want to be found? Look for miracles and listen to bedtime stories." (King of Scars)
"'Of course it won’t last,' said Zoya. 'What does?' 'True love?' suggested Tamar. 'Great art?' said Tolya. 'A proper grudge,' replied Zoya" (Rule of Wolves)

i guess my random non significant takeaways
- how is having a near immortal queen going to work
-vladim rights, that was a good plot thread to bring in from tgt
-paja mention!!!!!! another obscure character i was happy to see given an acknowledgement
-new triumvirate good but sad leoni and adrik barely had a role in this
-there was just. so much going on. the whole time.
-where was kuwei? he deserved more than a sentence reference?
-definitely hmmm about how a lot of the plots were tied up like i think leigh managed to figure out how to close the many many things going on in the book but people have already said how weird it is that nina will never go back to ketterdam or ravka, the random crows involvement and the way it left off implying more crossover if we have a future book, etc .
-darkling giving an ulla reference and mentioning his past name was kirigan...i see you leigh
-fuck the darkling. glad genya and the other girls got to yell at him
-the death was super unnecessary to me

The Dark World Escape Plan
Just as the guests were being released as the night was ending, and so was the week spent with the Dark World, people began to realize that certain guests were missing. They weren’t accounted for as everyone began to take counts of those that came with them or had been spending time with them in that night. Murmurs began and a decision was made to keep everyone inside. Instead of a night in their lodgings before traveling back home the next morning, they would spend the night in Mayhem Manor while they figured out where the missing had gone and what could have happened. Guests were uneasy and it didn’t take long for them to start to believe that this was the plan all along.
Throughout the week, those originally banished to the Dark World had been devising an escape plan. When the realm was originally purposed, those that were banished to realm were enchanted never to leave unless the barriers were lifted or the enchantments were lifted. With so many people in visiting the realm, the banished had hoped that they could confuse the barriers and enchantments and escape as essentially passengers to the others. Their plan was simple, grab as many non Dark World residents as they could without raising alarm, and using them in their attempt to escape.
As the night went on, they sneakily used different things that they knew would weaken certain species to subdue those that they planned to take. The banished captors took Lark in the makeshift backstage area, and all it took was weakening her with salt slipped into the food and drinks that she consumed. It was no easy feat, but catching a window of time when Louisa was alone, they caught her off guard, binding her with sliver. Olivier’s drink was laced with liquid silver. Vada was grabbed from behind and her hands bound using Lobelia Flower. Almira was caught by surprise and knocked unconscious. Nia was knocked unconscious by a spell cast by one of the prisoners. Each of them were skillfully taken out to the the barrier of the realm. They hoped that with so many taken that the barriers would allow them to cross the threshold along with those that they held with them. They had to time it just right, and they waited stashing their captives in a little cabin close to the barrier of the realm. They believed that the cover of midnight would be the perfect time to act. A time when those at the reception would be too drunk to realize what was happening, or so they thought. Once the time was right, they would take the kidnapped out to the barrier and try to escape. They cared little about what would happen to the kidnapped if this went wrong. They only cared for their freedom.
As soon as the numbers were figured up, all the reports of who was missing had gone out, search teams were started. Those heading up search teams were: Kingsley, Mischa, Niklas, Adrik, and Selene.
Everyone else was advised to stay in Mayhem Manor. Cots, pillows and blankets were provided. Rooms were first come first serve to all that claimed an empty one. Until these guests were found everyone would spend the rest of the night in Mayhem Manor in order to stay safe. Leaders adjourned to discuss the events, that had occurred and a safe travel plan home for the following day. Any healers that wanted to volunteer was asked to aid in gathering supplies so that they could ready themselves for potential patients to come. Any guards, war generals, or volunteers that wanted to help and weren’t out searching, were asked to patrol the manor.
[OOC: This will be our last plot drop of the event (other than the conclusion/event recap). Those that are kidnapped, we are leaving it completely up to you how roughed up your character got. You can have been taken with another person if you want to write it out that way. You can self para if you’d like, it’s totally up to you. If you would like to write it out attempting to escape while they held everyone in the cabins that’s fine too. Those on search and rescue can work together or anyone that wants to join the search feel free to post about that as well. You can also actually plot with the kidnapped and write out rescue threads if you’d like! All inside the Manor are free to do what you’d like as well. Keep in mind there are certain rooms that are off limits, no juicy intel will be found anywhere in the Manor. Any major plots or deaths please run it by the admins, but please go wild and have fun with this!]
