Yes, absolutely! That is why I noted that the Chaucer example is late Middle English, because early Middle English would still not have been legible to most modern English speakers.

For those who would like one, here is an example of early Middle English, taken from the Peterborough Chronicle, hosted once again by the University of Glasgow here, dating from the 12th century:

(1) Millesimo cxxxv. On þis gære for se king Henri ouer sæ æt te Lammase (i). (2) And Ðat oþer dei þa he lai an slep in scip, þa þestrede þe dæi ouer al landes and uuard þe sunne suilc als it uuare thre niht ald mone, an sterres abuten him at middæi. (3) Wurþen men suiðe ofuundred and ofdred, and sæden ðat micel þing sculde cumen herefter: sua dide, for þat ilc gær warth þe king ded ðat oþer dæi efter Sancte Andreas massedæi on Normandi.

And a slightly later version of early Middle English from the 13th century, taken from the Ancene Wisse, an anonymous guide for female anchoresses, hosted here by the University of Rochester (the parts in Latin are bolded by the source provider):

Seinte Pawel witneth thet alle uttre heardschipes, alle flesches pinsunges, ant licomliche swinkes - al is ase nawt ayeines luve, the schireth ant brihteth the heorte. "Thah ich cuthe," he seith, "monne ledene ant englene, thah ich dude omi bodi alle pine ant passiun thet bodi mahte tholien, thah ich yeve povre al thet ich hefde, yef ich nefde luve ther-with, to Godd ant to alle men in him ant for him, al were i-spillet.

A very late example of early Middle English is arguably the Auchinleck manuscript. Currently the cutoff date for the end of the early Middle English period is approximately 1350, and that is often done to account for this particular work. Here is some text from the manuscript, specifically the Seven Sages of Rome section, hosted by the National Library of Scotland and made available here:

Ich wille into his bodi diȝt, Boþe bi dai and bi niȝt.’ Dioclician þe maistres herde, He strok his berd and schok his ȝerde, And on hem made milde chere 1300 And spak þat hi alle miȝte ihere ‘Þonke I ȝou kan, gode lordingges, Of ȝoure gentil answerungges I kan ȝou þonke of ȝoure speche, Þat ȝe desire mi sone to teche, 1350 ȝoure compaignie is fair and gent, Nel ich hit departe verraiment.’ He tok his sone bi þe hond anon, An[d] bitauȝte him to hem euerichon.

You can definitely make out more of the text here and it would be slightly more understandable to those who speak English today (supplemented if you also know some German).

Now! That said, I will say that Old English is definitely not easier to learn if you know German, or at least it wasn't for us. I know German, I used to live there, German is my second language, and when I was learning Old English at TCD, I had two classmates whose first languages were both German... and we were pants at it. Knowing both German and English actually made some things harder, because while a few words came in handy, the grammatical structure was very different and the three of us kept trying to instinctively apply German grammar because "oh this looks like German!"

It was a very hard habit to kick and it tripped us up many times.

Maybe we were just terrible, though; I certainly won't pretend the experience had by the three of us applies to all German speakers learning Old Englsh.

"Oh yeah, my big brother. Names Kanji, he's a huuuge doofus. Sports fan, alpha jock dickhead." Michi laughed, her brother was nice enough but the two were pretty different aside from a few looks. "We're technically half sibs since we have different mom's but the same dad. Sometimes I fix the tail lights on his car because he's an idiot."

Michi was touching and examining every single item she found, she found it so interesting. "Oh my gosh this is heaven!" She picked up an item that appeared to be sparking, which of course she ended up zapping herself. Causing the blonde flick of her hair to almost glow!

"Woo!~ Fuck yeah!" She giggled. "Nothing like a good SHOCK to make you feel alive!" She sang, picking up a few other items before a voice came from behind them.

"HEY VIRGINS!" The voice came from a fairly tall blonde girl in a pink uniform. "Put that shit down! Who the fuck do ya think you are interrupting Girl Genius Miu Iruma in her warehouse?" She growled, crossing her arms.

Michi tilted her head. "Huh? This is a free space girl. I'm Michi Choya! Ultimate Electrician." She greeted.

Kazuichi had an almost thoughtful kind of expression on his features as he listened to Michi talk about her older brother, Kanji.

It was nice to hear other people talk about their siblings at times since it was mainly just him and his old man working at the repair shop.

"Are you alright?" The hot-pink haired male asked Michi after she was shocked. "Looks like you got lit up a bit..."

He said with a good natured laugh and shark teeth smile beared in hopes to be ready to deal with the situation, but instead he found himself grinning at the giggling electrictian.

"You're really something else to be able to take a shock like that." He told Michi before going to examine some items that caught his own interest gathered around a shelf that to the naked eye of someone out of the know would just think was junk.

"V-Virgins?! Kazuichi dropped the parts to an engine he had been turning over in his his hands, and quickly just turned towards the source of the voice.

"Umm... Couldn't we all just sort of share it?" He suggested as he met eyes with the tall blonde. Did she really have to say the word "virgin"? It wasn't like she could tell right?

"As for who I am," Kazuichi hooked a thumb back towards his chest. "I'm Kazuichi Souda! The Ultimate Mechanic." It looked like they would be dealing with all kinds of people at Hope's Peak. Something he was very much looking forward to if they were all as lively as Michi.

"Still... I can put things down." He added with an almost nervous chuckle.

Do you mind sharing your process/approach to making the "cheat sheets"? I've been thinking of doing something similar for Ancient Near Eastern deities if I ever have the ability in the future (probably without making amazing graphics like you though) like a profile or something. I don't know if I'll ever get energy but I thought I'd ask you before I forget, any guidance or tips would be lovely 💙

That's wonderful! I'd love to see them! :)

The whole idea sort of began with me analysing my own practice one day and thinking "hey, I could've used something like this when I was starting out!"

I tried to think of some templates and things I'd like to include. The graphic format was just a matter of trial and error really, seeing what would work and look nice. Then, when it comes to information, I try to pick things that IMO are most 'basic' and 'essential' or could be thought of as most significant to the deity (major cult places, most famous epithets, symbols etc.), just things that could be both educational and useful in worship, especially for beginners, but I also like to include some interesting and perhaps lesser-known facts!

I think it's quite helpful to look back to the time when I was still new to all of this and just starting my research to see what I needed the most for worship and to get to know the deities better, so I take note of that. I narrowed it all down to things such as:

depictions of the deity

functions of the deity

closest family and companions

name and famous epithets

how and where they were worshipped

symbols and associations

iconic myths

offerings and potential devotional acts

basic prayers and hymns

[This might not apply to all deities, though, since when it comes to some of those things, the information about them could've been lost]

Some cheat sheets require more research, especially when it comes to minor deities. You really need to dig for some info. I try to look at ancient texts, epigrams, lexicons etc, some good research papers/books, and overall reliable ancient account-based sources as well as include some more modern popular UPGs/SPGs I've seen within the Hellenic polytheist community, e.g. Tarot associations (since plenty of us might use it in our practice as well). Theoi.com is definitely a lot of help. Sometimes I also try to translate some things with the little Greek I know if I feel like it's needed.

Depending on how easily accessible the information is and how much time I have, it could take up to a few days to make one cheat sheet. It's worth all the work, though, and the feedback I've received keeps me motivated! It's also quite satisfying and I can always learn a thing or two myself! I like to think of doing this as a sort of devotional act to the deity as well, that I get to do this not just for other people but for the deity, too, as a way to show my appreciation for them!

So, this is my approach! Hope it helps! 💜

Hello again! since those two are siblings, do they often fight? And you two Mods, what's your favourite Pokemon, and Pokemon type? -EMMET ANON :D

This entire comic is heavily based around them learning to get along, so Kentaro and Kiana will be getting in MANY arguments along the way. It's how the story opens to set the tone and it will continue to be an issue between them until they can find common ground. (Teenagers, am I right? 😩💦)

As for our favorite Pokemon and Pokemon type, that's actually also on the Meet the Creators page as linked a lot, but to answer in general:

I love Fairy-types! I consider myself a Fairy-type enthusiast! My favorite is Dedenne, but my other favorite Pokemon that isn't a fairy is Corviknight!

Liv is really into Fire-type Pokemon! She really likes the Litten line, but her favorite non-fire Pokemon is Shapedo!

So! I decided I wanted to info dump about my bby, and I’m gonna do it here. Consider this a living document, cause ill be editing new questions and answers as they come in <3 if you have any more questions just comment them (or ask on anon if you want, I’ll answer both here and there)

while Aito tries to train like the rest of her classmates (though sparring) his quirk really isn’t a fighting quirk, so yeah, most of her training happens out in the wild. He mostly trains on his classmates and teachers, but will occasionally go out of the school and try to charm random people she bumps into ;) . she continues his training after graduation, and keeps getting better and better the longer she’s in the field.

kinda a tough question here, lemme try to explain how Aito’s quirk works; so pretty much it’s not really Aito’s gaze that makes it work, like his pupil doesn’t have to be trained on someone. His quirk works through her iris (the yellow bit). it looks normal most of the time, but when being used, it becomes wildly complicated, confusing the eye of her target and scrambling their brain a bit. pretty much, the brain normally simplifies everything so our eyes can kinda take shortcuts and let us quickly take in as much info as possible, but Aito’s irises are so overly complicated that the target’s brain is forced to focus excessively on them to keep up, making them very suggestible. that’s why Aito has to speak his commands, so that the target’s brain confuses Aito‘s voice for it’s own command (and also why the target won’t do anything too complicated or out of character. if the brain thinks too hard about what it’s doing, it could fall out of Aito’s control) his quirk would be better described as a sensory overload, but without the panic or any negative feelings. It actually feels rather nice to be charmed, like being a hot room with a cool fan blowing in your face, or drinking a warm drink in the snow. Very positive, yet opposity feelings at once if that makes sense

(side note, when Aito gets older, she can control when his quirk is “turned on” but while she’s in UA, it just constantly on all of the time, hence his choice in hairstyle)

so! To answer your question, if someone doesn’t know about Aito’s quirk, they have 0 clue that they’re being charmed, and will have 0 memory of whatever they do when charmed. If someone does know about her quirk though, their brain will recognize the feeling and will be able to combat it (she can still be pretty effective, but he still has to work harder for it) if someone knows about the quirk, their vision will get a bit darkend around the corners and may see quick flashes of darkness as their brain kicks off to focus on Aito’s irises. it takes a lot of willpower to fight Aito’s charms- or, just a very very simplified vision, like Aito’s mama has (if someone asks, I’ll talk later about Guadelupe’s vision, it’s actually pretty interesting) (side note again, if someone tires to fight her charm, it could leave them with a gentle headache <3)

and FINALLY Aito’s quirk doesn’t require her to physically see, as long as her target can see her, it works :)

Aito decided to become a hero because… he’s perfect! And he wants everyone to know how perfect she is!! And everyone thinks heros are perfect!!! And soon EVERYONE will see how PERFECT he is!!!!!!!

when Aito’s father left them, he was cemented in Aito’s brain as someone who couldn’t see how perfect he was. Aito just wants to be seen by her father, but because he doesn’t know who he is, he assumed that the only way to get the man’s attention was to prove how perfect she can really be, and the only way she could figure out how to do that is by becoming a hero.

after he gets her license, he immediately starts heroing like others do, with big fights and capturing villains and saving people… but… that really didn’t work for her. No matter how strong or fast or clever she was, he couldn’t match up to his peers in the heroing world.her quirk just wasn’t made for that kinda work. He took some time off to figure himself out, and after a bit of time (and a lot of conversations with Michi, both professional and personal) he finally figured out that his best place to work was behind the scenes, collecting information and going undercover in villain hangouts and social events. he wears her support hero badge with pride. (and uhhh still sometimes helps with big fights and capturing villains and saving people. Hey! She spent good money on his hero suit! He’s gonna use it!!)

ooohhhh ok! This is the question I really wanna answer!!!

so! to clarify, Aito absolutely thinks he’s all that and a bag of chips, like even in the deep parts of her brain, she thinks he’s The Blueprint. I would almost describe her as narcissistic bordering on psychopathic. THE ONLY REASON I WOULDN’T DESCRIBE HER AS THIS THOUGH- is because of her reasoning

so- Aito was raised by his mama exclusively, and he thinks his mama hung the moon and painted the stars. Like she is a capital M capital B Mama’s Boy. He absolutely adores his mama and thinks she’s absolutely without flaw or defect. (She didn’t instill this in him, Guadelupe’s just a very nice lady and Aito was really messed up after his father left, so she clung to any semblance of a good parent she could find. (Even though he’s technically out of this stage already, and it’s much less pronounced, something similar happened when he met Sato. Guadelupe never dated after Aito’s father “because my mijo is the only person I’ll ever need” and because of that, Sato is the first positive male role model in his life. Most of his acting out actually is a product of wanting to keep Sato’s attention on him, and to subconsciously keep him from leaving like his father did))

Aito’s brain pretty much went “ok, my mama is Absolutely And Positively Perfect… and she really really loves me… she wouldn’t love a kid with flaws… so I must also be perfect!!” And that’s why she thinks she’s all that! She thinks his perfection is as obvious as the sky being blue, and his want for validation just his way of checking out the window and seeing the color or they sky. they sky is blue, and everyone knows that, and Aito is perfect, and everyone should know that!!

but also she’s promised multiple people that she won’t steal from strangers. In the classroom setting, people know that when your wallet or your ID card or your phone go missing, you should talk to Aito before you do anything else, strangers don’t know that, so whatever she takes is for keeps. He really doesn’t like keeping things from people as much as he just likes the act of pick pocketing, so if someone asks for their item back, Aito will immediately return it and will probably explain how and when he took it if they let him. only problem is, you obviously can’t do this with strangers, so instead she does other things, like asks them for a harmless favor that someone would never do for a stranger (“hey there, can you help me move tomorrow?” “Hi! Do you mind if I take your picture?” “Hello sir! can I look through your phone for a sec?”)

at the moment, it’s usually an adult who knows about her quirk and tries very hard not to be charmed (think sato). she can still charm adults obviously, but it’s a bit harder to do bc she’s just a little baby. maybe when she trains more she’ll get stronger, but at the moment, that’s her limit (sorry if this is a weird answer, willpower doesn’t exactly come in like a points system irl, so I can’t be like “7 willpower!” yk?)

I talked about this before with Rin’s blind eye (something I’ll probably add here) but being blind in one eye wouldn’t stop Aito’s quirk (as long as you look at her with your non-blind eye, you can still be charmed, hence why when looking at Aito with only her blind eye, Rin wasn’t charmed)

the only was to not be charmed by Aito is to just not see her eyes, so total blindness or some kind of visual abnormality (like her mama has. somebody PLEASE ask me about Lup’s eyes. I have diagrams) but! if a person is seeing, but can’t hear Aito (be it because of deafness, or some issues in the environment like loud noises or earmuffs) a person can be charmed, but cannot be commanded <3

((p.s. I’ll be talking a lot about blindness or other disabilities while discussing Aito’s quirk, but if I say or display any ableist language or sympathies, please know it’s out of ignorance and not malice, and correct me when you can.))

I like the vibes of skam NL, but the only actor (i guess it was only her liv and Noah who had the characterization to do it) who's performance struck me in a real way was Suus. As for the OG and the remakes Tarjei, Iman and Henrik are stand outs; Druck, Chris V, Michi and this Nora actress; Eskam, Hajar and Irene; france, Axel and Flavie and wtfock, veerle, Nathan N., Williams x2. It's a shame that the dialogue takes away from the performance for some fans, but it makes sense

i think flavie didn’t have that good acting skam fr s6 would be nothing for me so at least i have one thing to praise.

yeah the dialogue thing it’s understandable i mean i cring at my language too but from non spekaer of any of the languages i dont see that

whew ok. gonna go for a positive so i can gush about druck a sec, and it's more personal than like "i didn't like the biphobia" cause as a bi person i didn't, but it's more,,,,, idk ajdjfkskk. ik druck is the one i post the most and talk about the most but it is the first storyline, from anything ever, to hit me as hard as it did. it gave trans people representation like never before. yeah i still have a few issues with the pacing of episode 8, and i used to have issues with the outing but realising lukas worked on it himself got rid of those. i think as far as trans representation for trans masculine individuals, david is the best we've ever seen. he got to be wanted, desired, loved, comforted, come out to matteo non his own terms, and be supported unconditionally and that's. pretty fucking beautiful.

and as far as matteo goes, he's most likely going to be diagnosed with depression in s4/5 (which was portrayed in a way ive never seen it before... it was amazing) and the fact many autistic people, people with ocd (like myself) and those with adhd and also many others all got to see themselves in him ???? thanku michi, thanku druck. im gonna shut up now but thanku for this!!!!! i could talk about skam all day lmao

Maybe just stop reacting to that troll who's been trying to stirr shit about Michi on your blog for several months now. Whoever that person is, they're either an stalker or a hater just making shit up anonymously and hoping someone else will give them a platform. None of us know if he was asked to come back to Druck, or if so, why he wouldn’t or couldn’t do it, none of us knows about his school or whatever else he is up to or how his finances are (wtf?!) and it's also non of our damn business.

Firstly its my blog dear I can answer any anon I want. As you can do whatever you what on your blog. No one is allowed to govern what we do on our own blogs. Secondly we are allowed to comment on actors decisions concerning the franchise they work/ed on. Its no different from when people say we will def have another Spiderman because Tom Holland isnt gonna pass up the pay check. Its a fact that actors associate with franchises they work on because of the revenue opportunities. So whats wrong with saying we haven't seen Michi do much on the druck publicity side? (never posted a Druck story even when lukas was in a clip) So its surprising to see him go back to the franchise he shows very little interest in. Like its weird. Sorry you dont like that observation but its true. It looks like a cash grab which btw I even said in my first post is FINE actors do cash grab films, cons and all sorts of shit in hollywood so I am not mad at him for taking the check I just think its noticeable that its a cash grab because he hasn't promoted or shown any interest in druck. Thats my opinion. You see those magic words at the end "MY OPINION!!!" (which is also on my blog!!!). So do, as you preach and mind your business concerning my opinions. Michi listened to Kazuichi explain about the engine and how it was made for a car, she nodded along and hummed. "I'm sure we can find a car, there's bound to be someone who'll let you install a new engine!"

She grinned, tilting her head a little. "I mean, who wouldn't want something worked on by the Ultimate Mechanic?" She asked, it was a rhetorical question of course; I'm sure anyone would be delighted to have something worked on by an Ultimate. Michi managed to fix up her headphones and tried them out, smiling when she could hear music coming through the speakers.

"Boom! Headphones are fixed." She said, placing them back into her bag.

The bell soon went off indicating it was class time, this made Michi groan. "Bleeegh, but we were just getting started!" She sighed before standing up, holding out her hand to the mechanic. "Come on then Sharky! Quicker we get through class, the quicker we can hang out at lunch." She suddenly felt a little shy. "T-That is, if you want to?" She offered, feeling a little embarrassed that she just assumed he would want to spend more time with the Electrician.

"Do you think so?" Kazuichi appreciated the positivity from Michi. Others in his past had pretty much shut down his ideas by telling him how dirty or greasy tinkering around repairing things like engines could be.

Hearing the music coming through the now repaired headphones that just told the mechanic that the electrician had been able to fix her headphones despite what distraction the warehouse with tools, and even himself provided.

It was only confirmed with Michi saying it herself.

"That's great, Sparky." Kazuichi congratulated before his brows knitted together at the sound of the bell as he gave a groan. "Already? I was having such a good time, too."

Accepting the hand from Michi he nodded, "There isn't that much class left right?" Even the fact that classes were supposed to be optional, but turned out their chipper homeroom teacher didn't bum him out as much.

"No worries, Sparky!" He gave a thumbs up with his free hand. "I'd love hangin' with you at lunch."

Heading back to class wasn't as uneventful as he thought it would be. He spotted a few of their classmates walking in the same direction.
