Hello!
I really like your game!
I would like to ask a little about MR Michael, and I would like to ask, since MR Michael will be less honest than the other Michael(Mikael who can do hypnosis), then he will most likely be more rude? More precisely, what will his character be? Will he be very different from the other Mychael?
For context! Not rude, but he seems to shift very quickly between moods to match yours, almost suspiciously so since he's almost always in tune with your thoughts. A little too charming with all the right things he says.
I'd say he'd still be close in personality to OG!Mychael when you first meet him, it's just different in intent. OG! is kind because he wants to be, MR! does it as a pretense; he's quick to turn on you if he knows you dislike or mistrust him.
Edit: @/blueskyandsoftclouds said in replies he would be a tsundere and wow!! I didn't think to mention that he definitely would be haha!
Extra below because it got long:
Though if you're asking his true true colors; he's actually quite aloof and quiet. Let's say in the impossible scenario he's dropped his guard around you, he's completely relaxed and chill and doesn't have much to say. Kinda like a grandpa that just wants to nap on the porch in his rocking chair.
A typical interaction would be him reading your mind in conversation and mumbling his responses. Also OG!Mychael doesn't like coffee but I think MR!Mychael would.

(minor TMA spoilers and general TMAGP spoilers) Having so much time to think about incidents in TMAGP due to hiatus made me realize that all of them, to some degree, contain the theme of "sealing your own fate" or "consequences of greed/hubris".
You see, while I do not believe that TMA had a consistent theme every statement was based on, the overall messege seemed to be that horrors are inevitable. Once you've been marked you cannot escape, no amount of therapy or running can release you from it. I think Michael Crew is the best example of that:
"The thing that chased me, you see, it was an arcing branch of the Twisting Deceit, taken shape to follow me. (...) And I knew within that book was something that could not only release me from my pursuer, but chain my being to that rush of wind and vertigo forever." Michael Crew in "The Coming Storm"
You cannot escape it once you've been marked, only bind yourself to different one and this marking is, most often than not, nonconsensual. Jane Prentiss would run around and infect random people, Not!Them didn't need anybody to come to them before it was sealed and Peter Lukas also tended to just disappear random people just to feed. The fears were very predatorial and active and the victims were selected based on their own fears and anxieties. This is not to say there weren't victims who failed due to their own curiosity/hubris/greed, but I think it's telling that few of the most greedy/curious people in the series, Mikaele Salesa and Jurgen Leitner, stayed largely uncorrupted by the fears not cause they avoided interacting with them, but simply avoided getting marked by them.
Now we come to protocol and every incident so far has the main subject of that incident actively engage with the horror and have one or multiple points at which they could stop and leave, but they do not. Daria went to the tattoo shop on her own accord, Harriet wanted her husband back no matter what and even Dr Webber was described to be able to leave the garden whenever he wanted, but, due to hiding from authorities, chose to stay until it was too late for him. Every incident so far seems to have this theme of consent, characters detailing very clearly that consent was given to engage with the abnormality:
"Ah well that’s a tricky one. Sort of? In many ways he stabbed himself on me. By the time he saw the needles we were already very close. Close enough to smell his sweat and cheap aftershave. In fact, he barely had time to be afraid before we embraced. He’s terrified now of course…" Needles in "Introductions"
"The young man's interview was not exceptional as he had no experience in charity work, no driving license nor any demonstrable experience in retail. He claimed however, to know the Hilltop Centre better than anyone and as he was the only applicant in the role I elected to give him a try." Dianne Margolis in "Give and Take"
"I hesitated a moment but before I could consider her strangeness a particularly high tide of color swept down the corridor toward me. I panicked, and before I realized what I was doing I had darted inside the lift and slammed the close-door button." Terrance Stevens in "Running on Empty"
It does not matter some of these are under duress or deception, all of them contain some type of action "confirming" consent. Mind you I do not believe all the victims of of these horrors confirm consent in some way, like people who get killed by Bonzo probably didn't agree to it (though considering he's most likely a hitman, some degree of "you agreed to this by overstepping your boundaries" philosophy could be applied), but subjects of the incident very much pay for consequences of their own actions.
That brings us to OIRA itself, and how every character so far seems to actively dig themselves deeper by their own accord, Gwen wants position of power, Colin wants to figure out the system, Sam wants to know why he wasn't chosen and Alice is in it for the money (for her brother which still counts as consent). This is literally said directly to us in episode 1:
"If you hate working here so completely, you are perfectly within your rights to resign. No one is forcing you to stay here." Lena to Gwen in "First Shift"
All of this, all this horror is happening due to their own accord, curiosity, obligation, greed for knowledge or just for the money, it does not matter, the choice is there, but they delve deeper anyway. We will see how long it holds up, but I will be on the look out for this theme in the future.

Why do many find the HS universe disappointing? I LIKE IT (no shade to those who don’t like it). Astrea’s broken heart being a part of the universe is mind-blowing! It adds such depth and complexity to the characters. Like, they could’ve kept the spoiler after Diamond Rush (which I’m patiently waiting on, lol)
I look at it as an exciting evolution of the story. It opens up new possibilities for character development and plot twists that we might not have anticipated. It feels like the author(s) is inviting us to explore a more expansive universe, where the stakes are higher and the stories can take unexpected turns. I’m excited to see where this journey leads us next!
I wish I could agree with you anon, but I can't, not for now (at least).
Ranting incoming! Sorry in advance! I have some points and you can feel free to disagree with me too.
Everything you brought up as an argument could work precisely because Astrea's Broken Heart (ABH) is not from the same universe as Heaven's Secret (HS).
I'm not against stories that are set in the same universe, given the post on the connections between contemporary and mundane stories that I pointed out a few days ago (7 Brothers, Garden of Eden, The One, Vying for Versailles and Elite Tag). I think these are easier because the lore is grounded in reality, nothing supernatural or anything like that. The connection between Chasing You (CY) and HS doesn't bother me either, precisely because CY is a story with completely different themes, the HS plot wouldn't directly affect the CY plot (they all die in the 1st apocalypse?. Probably. Nobody cares because that's not what the story is about). And honestly, it seemed more like an easter egg than something really thought out.
But ABH deals with precisely the same theme as HS (the same mythology in this case), except that before we learnt about the joining of universes, the way this theme was being dealt with was different from what we had seen in HS and was, in my opinion, a breath of fresh air compared to HS. The way the hierarchies were beginning to be dealt with, the interaction of the then angels with the Father, the characters' relationship with the subject and so on. New things (and better in my opinion).
But as soon as you say that this story takes place in a universe of an already established story (which already has 2 stories, 3 in fact), things start to go wrong. Because in order to subjugate a story to a universe, things start to become limited at certain points. There are things you can't do, and if the aim is to keep the universe cohesive in the writing, adding lore here and there like the issue of angels in Heaven's Secret Requiem (HSR) is valid and doesn't affect the story, but what about Mikael being the Father's right hand (because they call him Father), Raphael being that important to Him, but in the HS universe there's no mention of them, or the treatment isn't even the same?
The Beast also seems to be an important figure in ABH, a supreme evil. But putting it in HS is going to be what? Because we know that evil is the Shepamalum, the first Satan presented in HS1 was a minion and honestly, hell looked more like a corporation with a CEO taking part every quarter of a year? Is the beast going to be Satan #546465? Will it be antichrist #7894646? Or will it be Shepamalum? Or demon Larry who made a revolution calling for better working conditions and decided to sacrifice some people as a form of rebellion?
Jokes aside, I can't see how a story that's just starting its second season suddenly (because I don't know to what extent this was planned inside, but as an audience we only know about it now - another problem) has to subjugate itself to an existing universe with its most important hierarchies and lores that have already been established. The number of plot holes is going to increase a lot.
Which brings us to the point of how this was passed on to the public. How do you announce something important like that after the second season of a story, already established, and via Facebook of all places???????? Like?
I have theories. Firstly, the two stories were released on the same day. HSR as a direct spin-off. nice. ABH as something completely new, interesting, unusual. ok. Announcing two spin-offs of the same book, on the same day, would be insane and the accusations of capitalising on every drop of HS's popularity would be off the charts (we've only had that with the HSR part, but it would probably be worse). But doing it afterwards, the way it's being done, isn't much better, the backlash is there and I think it's fair.
They probably waited to see if the book was going to be a success on its own, so that they could talk about it and people wouldn't get too outraged (from the reactions it didn't do much good). They could have done this much more organically. This month's update would finally introduce us to the agency's superiors, and what better way to announce that a story is part of an existing universe than by mentioning existing characters! They could take advantage of this and introduce already known characters, or just mention them by name. It would be much more organic and we would see the connection in the story, not in a random Facebook advert.
Another point is that it could be that they didn't want to create a story of similar mythologies that rival each other. HS has its own fanbase, ABH is also creating its own, the way it's constructed is different, and I think the latter is better. Then, to avoid problems, they put everything in the same universe and that was that. But I don't really believe that because Alice herself (HS) is Elena's (ABH) editor in the story. Which leads me to wonder, was this planned from the start or did they see the potential later and change their minds in the middle of the first season? How serious is this for them to announce it on Facebook and not in the story itself? They had to have the guts to admit it on launch day, why hide it?
So as not to be too long-winded, and to summarise my opinion, I don't think it's an advantage for ABH because it limits the development of the lore too much, since what is going to be dealt with already exists in a certain way, the plot and the development of the plot worry me within this universe. On the other hand, it's advantageous for HS because the popularity of ABH joins it. I don't like the decision at first, I'm going to continue treating them as separate things. I really hope that they have a plan up their sleeve that is spectacular, that things work out and no story is harmed in the process, because ABH has become one of my favourite books. And I must emphasise that I also don't like the way they're trying to squeeze every last drop out of HS, the way it's been done has its ups and downs, HSR was a good decision, HS2 not so much. As well as having other stories that deserve continuation and an exploration of the universe (such as Moonborn with the werewolf and vampire clans, Sails in the Fog with other pirates, Heart of Trespia with the unexplored lands beyond the sea…).
I guess, that's what I think about it. And sorry for the long text again!

Damon was incredibly protective and loving of Bonnie and ended up being her soulmate in the books, and the tvd writers thought “Hm, let’s make him a complete asshole to her throughout the entire show and hurt her at every given opportunity.” They took one look at how Stefan and Bonnie’s friendship was progressing throughout S1-S2 and decided to completely retcon it and started having him disregard her the same way everyone else did. You see, none of the main male characters were allowed to have actual meaningful connections with her because god forbid Bonnie be considered a potential love interest for them and not their self inserts. Damon can’t even tell Bonnie he loves her without them making sure to include “The same way Elena loved you.”
It’s the same reason why they didn’t have Bonnie attend the Mikaelson ball even though her being there made more sense than Matt or Caroline attending since the literal hostess was going to be siphoning her bloodline’s magic. She couldn’t be seen dressed up in a pretty gown like the other girls and dance with any of the male characters because again, god forbid Bonnie be held in the same regard as the other girls and ever thought of as a potential love interest for anyone besides throw away characters. It’s the same with Bonnie not interacting with any of the Mikaelson’s outside of her protecting the MFG from them. There are numerous connections between the Mikaelson’s and the Bennetts. Ayana Bennett was Esther’s mentor and seemed to be incredibly close to all her children. Abby desiccated Mikael, Esther wanted to use the Bennett Bloodline. Yet, not once are these connections explored. These could have potentially been some of the best storylines in the show, but that would have required the writers to not be prejudice and have biases towards certain characters.
But all this begs the question…if you’re going to make a character black or a poc so you can meet the diversity requirements, yet still neglect their character and use them as nothing but a shield to your white characters, then what is the point? Because I have no doubt that if they kept Bonnie’s race the same, she would have gotten the same opportunities as the other girls and wouldn’t be seen as just a mule. She would have still been poorly written, not debating that, but she would have been treated entirely differently by the writers and the fans.

in TO season 1 during Rebekah's "trial", she has this line to Klaus about how Mikael ruined her too and it always sat with me because it pushes back on this notion Klaus (and the fandom) has that he was the only kid being abused in the house. we even see this in one of the flashbacks where Mikael hits Rebekah when she has the sword (i always loved that it was Rebekah who actually took up arms to defend her brother). it even ties to how even Freya, the sister raised by someone else also grew up in an abusive household.
unrelated but back in TVD s3 when they are looking at the viking cave paintings about the Originals, it gives the eldest child's name as Aaron which i just find amusing in hindsight (my headcanon is that Ric spilled bourbon on the papers)
i've been rewatching Lucifer recently (talk about a show that had a really shitty ending that also involved a guy abandoning his daughter for his own character development) and i think Linda Martin and Cami would be excellent friends. someone should write that crossover where they bond over being therapists to dudes with massive daddy issues, sexy accents, and immortality.
I've talked about this so much! Just because Klaus is the only one who talks about the abuse, it is very unlikely that he was the only one who suffered under Mikael's hand. This is emphasized considering the reason Mikael gives for abusing Klaus is because he was trying to make him a warrior. So it would make sense that he treated all of his children like that. We even see how aggressive his training is with Davina. Like you point out, Mikael did not hesitate to swing at Rebekah.
To me, the reason it's not talked about is because the show centers around Klaus. Everything, including flashbacks, are told through a Klaus centric POV. We don't get any flashbacks that don't center around him. Even Rebekah and Elijah's flashbacks are only shown to center Klaus. We don't see Elijah turn Tristan or Elijah creating the Strix, because it doesn't center Klaus. Kol was gone for decades meeting with witches, but we don't get any of these flashbacks because Klaus has nothing to do with it.
Not only are the flashbacks used to center Klaus, but how the characters talk. In TVD, Elijah states that Klaus loved Tatia as much as he did, centering his Klaus even in his love for Tatia. This is also something we don't really see. Klaus essentially SA'd Tatia and that is the only interaction we see. Very far from love.
All of this just shows that the language and POV of the show is to center Klaus. Just because we didn't see the abuse the rest of the siblings suffered, doesn't mean it didn't exist. Klaus was either just unaware or felt his abuse was worse so he only spoke about that. In reality, it's not mentioned because it would undercut the entire justification to Klaus' behavior. He didn't actually have it worse, but he still behaves worse.
Even if they didn't directly experience abuse, which I find unlikely, they still lived in an abusive household which has great impacts on development.
I never noticed the change of the name but I love that headcanon. Sometimes we just have to ignore the lack of effort the writers put into planning.
Lucifer is such a good combination of Klaus and Elijah. And I completely agree, Linda and Cami would be such great friends. Cami really needed some non-supernatural friends. I know one of my mutuals does Lucifer/Elijah cross overs but I don't think there is anything with Cami and Linda yet! It would be so good.
Thanks for opening up this discussion!

new to this ship but can you point out moments in canon that shows the potential? i like it but i don’t know where Klaus and Bonnie ever interacted. it seems random to ship
It is not random to ship. It just wasn’t as serviced as Klaus other ships same for Bonnie and her ships. They may not have interacted often but context counts.
Klaus was introduced with an obsession with witches. Joseph and Kat did make remarks about Klonnie and things they’d do to get people to notice it. Joseph referenced Klaus love for witches here and here. In canon Greta Martin left her family to work with Klaus. This doesnot mean that is the kind of relationship Klaus and Bonnie could’ve had. Just showing that Greta was okay where she was. Maddox was another loyal witch. Then we have Gloria from season 3 who Klaus respected and went to for help. She was over 100 years old and even Klaus referenced as powerful.
Shared bloodline connection. Ayana mentored Esther. Ayana was around during the Mikaelson’s human life. It is Ayana who the Mikaelsons took Henrik too after he was killed. Esther until TO’s Esther praised the Bennett’s often in season 3. It is Abby who put Mikael down, that is only half the reason for abandoning Bonnie. Esther also praised Bonnie for being the witch that fought Klaus. Keep in mind it is Elijah who recruited Bonnie to help take down Klaus even if he betrayed her.
Unlike the other women or characters Bonnie has never been afraid of Klaus. She’s fought him once, and then again both times fearlessly. Klaus believed Bonnie was dead, this little-witch who was just starting outsmarted the big and bad hybrid. Then there’s here where she again isn’t afraid of him no matter how much he tries. Bonnie isn’t someone Klaus can control unlike the other characters. The only way he really controls Bonnie is through her friends and it still doesn’t deteriorate Bonnie as a person or last long. She never falters. You see how she steps over him. She’s a fearless witch-goddess as Elena said. That conviction in how he says witch. Klaus will need Bonnie long before Bonnie ever needs him. Even when he threatens her she never once backs down. Bonnie having moments with her enemies shows so many of her emotions. Another lovely moment is here. Then here where Bonnie dreamed of Klaus in the coffin. Here’s another moment of Bonnie standing off with Tyler!Klaus. In TO Klaus and a Bonnie spoke over the phone.
Klaus and Bonnie were not allowed many moments outside of being enemies. Klaus didn’t invite Bonnie to a ball or gift her fancy gowns, money for graduation or school but they aren’t a random ship. The lore is there, the scenes and potential certainly exist. It just takes the right fans to see that. Bonnie could be valued by someone like Klaus and vice-versa. I have seen arguments that shipping Klonnie is weird, when has it ever been weird to like two characters from the same franchise. If Klaus can have sexual relationships with other witches than Bonnie is to no different. She’s best-friends with Damon and dated a vampire herself.
Hope this helped.

Idea (that I'm almost certainly never going to write):
so a Modern AU focused on all the kids as they play an MMORPG together. Some sort of pastiche on World of Warcraft only because that's what I played obsessively as a kid.
Cuno and Cunoesse are on together 90% of the time and they love to troll the message boards, harass newbies, probably partake in a lot of PVP and overall are just huge menaces. No interest in the lore, not really doing any quests, but they're having fun.
Annette also plays and she is VERY much into the lore. She has a relatively high-level warrior-type character, a strong woman, and when she plays she's hardcore in character. Full roleplayer. Her character is the type to slay the dragon and not accept a reward for it, because the safety of the village is its own reward, probably goes out of her way to not get rewarded for her good deeds so she can have a 'struggling for resources' angle to her character that adds a nice challenge to everything.
Remember when I said that Cuno has no interest in lore? HAH! I lied. He has a SECRET CHARACTER that Cunoesse doesn't know about and he only logs in after she thinks he's done playing for the night, and he doesn't so much as play this character but rather just. kind of. virtually stalks Annette's character. Being anonymous is supposed to make you less shy about things but not for him, since I think he's intimidated by how much of the game she knows really intimately and how seriously she takes it so he doesn't want to have an interaction that is Out Of Character and then would make her not like him. If he logs on to this character and she's not playing then he will grind for a bit just to wait but then ultimately leave, but if she is playing then he slyly is there in the background as she goes through her story + all the daily quests. Somehow this character is a higher level than the one he plays with Cunoesse.
Mikael might be too young to play the game, or maybe Trant just thinks he is, but is probably interested in it. If he does play then I think he's real big on the quests - accepting them all and doing them one after the other.
Andre is the guild master with Egg Head, Noid, and Acele and they're the type to spend all night tackling the difficult dungeons or going on raids. They are extremely high-level with the most insane loot, and I think Noid probably has been banned a few times for suspicions of cheating/accessing remote areas players aren't supposed to/messing with their money and items in a way to benefit the entire guild. Somehow Noid is always able to make a new character and quickly rise through the ranks again.

#PSA, PORTRAYAL NOTES.
since my canon for klaus is a mix of book and show (and my added creative flair), i'm going to pull all of the thoughts running around in my head here, in this one post for easy access. i will be adding to this as i think of things, and in some cases, there will be more detailed info to come!
my klaus is a haphazard mixture of canon. he is primarily book-based with minor details of show canon and my added creative flair thrown in; he is heavily canon divergent and unaffiliated with the vampire diaries/the originals show canon by default in his main verse. the details below will be the most important points to read and any other information can be given through plotting and character development. as always, if you have any questions, please feel free to shoot me a message!
i will often refer to the "old ones" as purebloods. they are capable of passing down their vampire genetics through birth, and niklaus was born the product of an affair. his pureblood mother, esther, held a steady affair with a pureblood werewolf, and the result nine months later was klaus.
concerning canon ships: my main love interest for klaus is katerina/katherine (see this post). all other ships need to be plotted due to the canon differences here (and klaus' serious toxicity), but i do ship caroline/klaus as well. hayley/klaus only when it concerns the vampire diaries show canon as i do not acknowledge the legacies canon or the events leading up to it (re: hayley's pregnancy and hope's birth). in his main verse, klaus is childless. — i will have a heavily divergent verse up for the originals/the legacies show canon acknowledging hayley's pregnancy and hope's birth because i don't want to give them up entirely and i do love them, but interactions in this verse will need at least some basic plotting due to canon divergencies here—or at the very least, open communication. i'm super flexible with it, of course, and i will have separate verses for more show canon-aligned threads and aus.
depending on what character i’m writing against, i’ll change some things up or throw you a show canon-esque verse vs my default one! it just depends on what works best for us both and we can plot the details out! if there’s ever a canon divergence point i have strong feelings about or feel is more of a concrete thing for my portrayal, i’ll tell you!
klaus is the one to turn katherine, and she's considered as formidable as he is. as a child she was always sick and when a doctor of human sciences told her she would die soon, her maid sought klaus out because she knew he was in the same village at the same time, and he saw something in her that made him want to turn her... because he certainly didn't do it out of the kindness of his own heart.
as far as klaus' siblings are concerned, i take a lot of inspiration from the originals show canon there. i love them too much to throw them away, and their bonds will stay relatively the same except that they parted ways nearly a millennia ago and they have more long distance type relationships presently, with klaus typically only visiting them if he needs something or he finds he misses them too much *in my default verse. he used to send them postcards and trinkets from his travels (especially elijah, rebekah and freya), and in modern times, he stays in contact consistently over the phone. — when they flee from their father sometime in the first millennia, they stick together for awhile as old ones, traveling and running from mikael, a pureblood vampire turned hunter when he found he couldn't cope with what he was—what his family was. in earlier years, they often pose as royalty, most notably lords and ladies of a wealthy, aristocratic family.
as far as his father is concerned, klaus is unaware of his birth father ansel, who had been a pureblood werewolf. mikael, who esther attempted to pass off as klaus' father, somehow always knew. a lot of this is taken from show canon in the sense that klaus still grew up with a shitty, abusive father who hated him for being different. for being the product of an affair his mother had—solid proof of her infidelity staring him in the face every single day. a lot of these feelings contributed to mikael's eventual breakdown and becoming a hunter. he grew to hate what he was, what his family was, but the hatred for klaus was even stronger. when his children fled after mikael's first attempt at killing them, he trails after them for quite some time until they finally put him down with the aid of klaus' witches.
presently, klaus has sired numerous successful hybrids using the blood of doppelgangers and continues to search for werewolves to turn, although they are often scarcely found. in his main verse, he has a small army of them at his disposal, but the sire bond doesn't exist in these cases unless plotted.
speaking of his army, it doesn't consist of only hybrids. klaus is a master at networking and has cultivated an "army" of those loyal to him, including powerful witches working on his side and in his trusted inner circle. something something slater contacting elijah through a fucking craigslist ad something something. it's the same with klaus. odds are, somebody who knows somebody who knows somebody... knows how to initiate contact with klaus or those in his circle, but it's never direct. "how do i find klaus? you don't find klaus... klaus finds you."
a key point: there is no hybrid curse in klaus’ canon. he comes to fell's church/mystic falls in the early 90s to avenge katherine's death at the hands of elena and her friends. the ending is changed, with klaus never dying—because how are we supposed to believe that humans who just learned of supernaturals like 6 months ago have the power to take him down? no, thanks. they do drive him out of the town, however, and he goes on to remain nomadic, but not before making his mark on the humans of fell's church. — when it comes to interactions with show characters in klaus' main verse, i often take inspiration from the vampire diaries show canon for his antics against elena and her friends and their consequences, however due to canon divergencies here, we might have to have some basic plotting.
continued ...
klaus and his brothers and sisters are the progenitors of the vampire race, but klaus is the sole progenitor of vampire/werewolf hybrids. he is the very first. — as the progenitor of the vampire/werewolf hybrids, klaus is able to create hybrids by feeding a werewolf his blood, snapping their necks or killing them in some way, and then having them drink the blood of a doppelganger or principal guardian descendant, but he can also create them by passing down his genes through genetics, but only with werewolf women capable of bearing children, as vampires are typically unable to change their bodies to accommodate a growing baby. *he could, in theory, have children with other purebloods and pass down his hybrid genetics this way, but if we're including that his family was the original vampires, that'd be gross, you know?
verses available. (full details coming soon, but for now we've got plotting)
the vampire diaries / the originals *canon divergent.
more coming soon.

mikaele salesa is such an icon, i love his character and how he's voiced, and his conversation here with jon and martin is great. Martin defaulting to being the polite guest, smoothing over interactions with Salesa so he readily tells his story, Jon continually only asking questions, Salesa teasing him, it's all 👌. I wish we'd gotten to hear more of him... For the story it makes sense that we didn't, but he's just so fun to listen to @a-mag-a-day

The Originals instead of Klaus' Originals
Novelty -Giving the originals characters a fleshed out arc that isn't purely at the mercy of Klaus.
Character of the day - Mikael
My take on this character would be giving him a father figure role once more. Here's how I would write the Originals. There wasn't anything terribly wrong with Mikael I hated. So this post is pretty short.
Mikael, in particular, gets another chance at parenting with a young man aged 17-22. Let's call him Brett. The two are kind-of forced to work together. Brett is an enigmatic, highly skilled and tactical fighter, adept at offering advice and assistance due to his humane nature. He's perhaps the best hand-to-hand combatant in the TVD universe, often engaging in intense fight scenes, including a memorable showdown where he expertly handles a threat from a werewolf. where he get's threatened by a wolf to biting him (he keeps his wolf side a secret pretty well) and he cuts off the werewolves hands and puts a blade to the werewolves mouth and tells him to try. Pretty Tactical you know. Brett maintains a secret identity as a wolf, keeping his distance from both wolves and other supernatural factions. He has a signature weapon, perhaps a unique dagger or sword, which becomes symbolic of his prowess. In scenes, we witness moments like Brett dulling a blade, prompting Mikael to intervene and scold him. But Brett doesn't back down, asserting that a dulled blade inflicts more pain. And maybe Mikael gives him a scar or something- could've taken his eye out, but didn't, and the ever so perceptive and understanding kid isn't mad at Mikael , but actually sees through Mikael's twisted love or whatever. And we see this by acting and stuff.Their interactions are marked by these subtle exchanges. The relationship between Mikael and Brett evolves into a father-son dynamic, unspoken but deeply felt. This would be the start of where Mikael sees Klaus in him and how the viewers do too, the viewers only find out Brett is a wolf a little before Mikael, where it's pressured and really close.
Now Mikael has his secrets too. Mikael's secret would be his character development. Mikael keeps his desire to kill his son Klaus. What he's basically known for. So, you could see many scenes where he truly tries to hide it, which would be really cool to watch. Seeing Mikael protective and defensive versus his usual offensive.
A secret rooted in Mikael's shame. This shame transforms Mikael's character arc, leading him to prevent Brett from ever thinking he'd actually harm him. Their bond is further tested when their hidden truths are revealed, introducing drama and tension. This time Mikael stays with Brett, even after finding out he's from the same clan as Klaus.
And with Brett, Mikael's secret is only revealed with an encounter with Klaus where Klaus kills Mikael. Brett doesn't intervene due to shock and other complex feelings. Mikael accepts Brett's reaction too, as expected.
Even after Mikael's death, Brett mourns his passing. He grapples with conflicted feelings, attempting to convince himself that he never truly liked Mikael. In a poignant moment, he speaks to Mikael's lifeless body, inadvertently revealing his true emotions. Klaus overhears this conversation, experiencing jealousy but ultimately unable to act on it due to the realization that Brett is fulfilling a role he desired—an emotional outlet. This realization feeds into Klaus' need for the hatred that sustains him.
They could add a ton of their english norse culture into this. I really liked the Davina and Mikael arc if you couldn't tell.

Mikaele Salesa vs questionable roadside merchant for characters I think would make amazing NPC merchants go—
Also here are several thoughts into one about the sound design!
It’s so strange how before the sounds and music (except for the intro) in Archives were diegetic?
But now we have background music and sound effects that characters shouldn’t normally be able to hear (unless Augustus played a sound clip of the violin and they just… chose not to comment on it. Which doesn’t make sense but is funny to imagine. :’D)
And I honestly can’t tell if there is an intentional in-universe reason for this or if it’s a stylistic choice because like
the last time I assumed something was ‘just a stylistic choice’ was Jon being weirdly dramatic with his recordings
I wonder too if the fact that the recordings are from what sounds like cameras have something to do with it? Something wants us as the audience to hear things the characters aren’t aware of maybe? Would that be too weird to assume?
Because like, we’ve already had an ARG which is by itself a way for media to interact with the audience.
And I can’t help but think about how we’ve had the theme for the archives show up in almost like a “pay attention, it’s that thing you knew before” kind of way. It feels almost by design and not just in well. In an amazing sound design kind of way.
But also I could be completely off-base because I like to overthink things
Also the sound design is just 🤌🤌
ALSO THE THEME SONG I love it so much because it’s like BWAAAAAAM (and also the fact that the structure of it sounds similar to the Archives’ theme but different enough for you to go ‘wait a second’).
They almost sound like the inverse of each other? Which kind of fits with the whole mirror/same but different thing going on. Two sides of the same coin, that kinda thing.
Very excited to see where this goes!

Do you think Mikael genuinely loved Esther?
No...?
It's hard because we see so little of their interactions.
We don't see any of their interactions in Dahlia and Esther's flashbacks in Season 2, which I think would have been the only time that Mikael did genuinely love her if he did. From what Esther tells Dahlia, it seems like Mikael and Esther were spending time together and he made her feel safe and loved. I do question if this love was genuine or if it was simply Esther's naivety. Esther had just watched her family be slaughtered and kidnapped by the village she was now being held captive in. She wasn't in the best mental state to be falling in love. She was also, I believe, fairly young and easy to take advantage of given everything.
It was clear that Dahlia and Esther were not fully accepted into the village given how they enslaved Dahlia. Just because we didn't see Esther being treated the same, doesn't mean she was welcomed. So I see it one of two ways. Mikael genuinely fell in love with Esther and was willing to face the consequences of marrying an outsider. Or, the one I think is more likely, Mikael was "encouraged" by his father/village leaders to marry Esther to secure Dahlia for life. This was fairly common for the time.
Esther does say that Mikael was better before Freya's "death," but that, to me, just means he wasn't physically abusive. There is a low bar with Mikael. I also think that any love for Esther he may have had died when Freya "died." It does seem that Mikael blamed her for Freya's death. The only joy he got back was after Klaus' birth when he thought he had found his warrior son. As Klaus got older, he became angry that Klaus wasn't the warrior he wanted him to be. Mikael never recovered from that anger. He may have felt fondness for Esther for giving him a warrior son, but that again would have disappeared as he grew disappointed in Klaus.
I don't even think Mikael's anger at Klaus killing Esther was about Esther really. Rather it was about Klaus taking what belonged to him. Even how they interact in TO doesn't suggest any love lost. I wish we could have seen them interact more in TO or TVD. A lot of Esther's backstory gets erased or told through other characters which causes the fandom to reduce her to a two dimensional character. Fleshing out her relationship with Mikael would have been really interesting, but they didn't do it because they didn't want to humanize Klaus' excuses. The show focuses on male villains as abuse victims, but tends to erase the women in these stories or even justify the abuse they suffered.
So the short answer is I don't know because the show didn't bother to give Esther a backstory. But to me, it doesn't seem like he did. If he did, it didn't last long.
Thanks for the ask!
