Attention!!
I have uploaded the first chapter of the Rockstar Eddie + Student Steve AU to AO3. It's called "The Fleetwood Café"
Summary: Steve's favourite place to study, is a small Café in Chicago. He likes the staff, he likes the coffee, he likes the ambiente. The only thing he doesn't like, are bands playing at the venue. They are usually noisy and Steve needs quiet. On that particular friday, he is especially cross. Why you ask? Because of Eddie Munson. When the lead singer ventures into the café area, to steal some napkins, he accindentally tips over a glass of water with his guitar case. Of course, the spilt water lands on Steve Harrington's laptop and he about mc fucking had it. He hates the guy. A coincidence, or fate for all we know, brings them back together in a different setting. Steve learns, that his preconceived notions are sometimes wrong. Eddie learns, that ex-Jocks can be nice people too.
Or, the one where Steve is studying to become a teacher, Eddie and his band are trying to get on the big stages. They meet in the worst way possible. But Steve slowly falls in love with Eddie and his musical talent and he understands, that the yearning Eddie's music evoces in him, is something he has to deal with.

No Shame In Running
Chapter 3
Flashback
Standing in line at the fair Steve tapped his foot, holding his wallet in one hand and a drink in the other he looked around. It had been his first time at a fair in years, not paying attention to much of his surroundings he smiled as he went on the demon tower. It was his first time going on it, sighing slightly nervous he looked to the ground. This wasn’t something he was used to. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d been to a fair, tugging at his black jeans and white shirt he pulled his sunglasses out of his pocket. Making his way up to the ride he waited on the step, standing awkwardly for his turn. There were too many people for Steve to back out of it and turn around now, going through with it he sat down on the contraption hoping not to plummet to his death.
“You alright? You’re looking kind of sick. No need to worry about it, it’s not too bad. Not like you’re going to fall to your death or anything.”
Hearing laughter Steve smiled somewhat, closing his eyes he tried to keep calm.
“Thanks, that’s just what I wanted and needed to hear. I’m Steve.”
Not wanting to intrude he opened his eyes once more, turning to look towards the voice he’d heard. Steve couldn’t help but like what he saw, long hair and a leather jacket with a hellfire club shirt on and black jeans with a chain belt. He couldn’t tell too much though of what he saw because it was allot to take in.
“It’s nice to meet you, I’m Eddie. Eddie Munson.”
Extending his hand Steve nodded, he wasn’t sure what it was about this mysterious guy. The wait of the ride lifting into the air and dropping felt like an eternity, he wasn’t even sure if it was going yet. Feeling different with Eddie, it had just been the one encounter so far. But he made him feel some kind of way.
Feeling the wind on his face Steve looked out over the high rise of the ride. He felt safe with Eddie.
“I’ve never really done this before, I mean sure I’ve come to the fair. But it’s been years.”
Not realizing what had happened Steve felt another hand in his, he didn’t know when or who had grabbed onto the others hand. Blushing somewhat at their hands he tried to play it cool.
“It’s not every day I get to meet new people, so I understand. You’re safe with me though Steve, you’ve got nothing to worry about.”
Feeling some kind of relief Steve wanted to spend more time with Eddie, he wanted to get to know him better.
“What’re you doing for the rest of the day? I mean maybe we can get to know each other a bit. Or I mean maybe some other day, whatever, it doesn’t matter.”
Shrugging somewhat Steve knew this wasn’t going how he’d planned it to go. He wasn’t sure why he was nervous around Eddie or why he was feeling butterflies in his stomach. He just wanted to make the best of their time together, not sure if Eddie was open to hanging out or not. His thoughts ran rampant in his mind.
“How about Friday, just the two of us. Maybe have a picnic and go to the movies? My treat.”
Thinking a moment Steve wondered why Eddie was the one offering to treat them when he was the one who’d asked. He wasn’t too worried about it though, Steve was just trying to make his way in life. He was trying to find his way in life, there was so much he needed to learn about himself.
“Um, yeah. Sure, thanks. Funny how I’m the one who asked you out, yet here you are wanting to treat us.”
He knew he needed to find a job and fast, he was already looking. Keeping it on the down low Steve wondered what was going through Eddie’s mind, He didn’t anyone hearing them talking about going on a date. He could only imagine what they’d think of him, Steve didn’t want to be looked down upon. He was just happy knowing he got to spend some time with Eddie.
“It’s not a big deal at all. I don’t mind, we could start out by hanging out here. I mean that is if you want to.”
Not knowing the right thing to say Steve just nodded. He was content knowing they were together for the moment, looking around he tried to find something that piqued his interest, Steve couldn’t think of much to do. Wondering what would happen he hoped it would be fun for the both of them.
Shit Steve, get it together. You’re making a fool out of yourself in front of Eddie. Keep cool and collected, just have fun. Don’t let your nerves get in the way of things.
“Of course, is there anything you wanted to do in particular? I mean there’s allot of rides or food, it’s up to you.”
Finding the zero gravity ride Steve waited in line, it was one of his favorites. Not really knowing what to talk about with Eddie he wondered what it was, nothing was the same. Steve was growing up and people came and went in life, hoping Eddie wasn’t one of the people who left he couldn’t help getting the thought out of his mind.
“You sure do like the thrill, thanks again for everything. It’s been nice not having to be alone for the day, I’ve actually got someone to look forward to seeing.”
Standing against Steve’s car he didn’t want to say goodbye to Eddie, he’d had allot of fun. The most fun he’d had in a while, he didn’t want the night to end. They still had allot to get to know about eachother, but he wasn’t complaining. They still had time.
“I look forward to seeing you again soon. I don’t want tonight to end.”
Looking Eddie in the eye, Steve stood on his tippy toes. Tucked away from prying eyes he leaned in and kissed him.
——————————
Steve finished getting ready for his first official date with Eddie. Looking at the huge tiger he’d gotten from the fair he hoped he wasn’t overthinking too much. Fixing up his hair he made his way to the car, wearing a Joan Jett shirt with a jacket to keep warm he hoped there wasn’t anything to worry about.
This is going to be fun, we’ve already had a date once before. There wasn’t much to it and we made it through the night, had our first kiss. It’s just a picnic and the movies. We’ve got this. Nothing or no one can ruin our night together.
Pulling out of the driveway Steve made his way to lovers lake. Making sure he kept his eyes on the road he listened to some music, it wasn’t every day that he had a date. Let alone with someone he had only just met, Steve felt as if it was fate though that brought them together. He wasn’t used to this. Rolling down the window he tried to keep his nerves at bay, Steve wasn’t usually this nervous when it came to dates and people.
Finding a parking spot Steve turned off the car and closed the door behind him. Walking in the direction of the picnic blanket Steve smiled as he saw Eddie getting everything ready for them.
“Hey you, you made it.”
Waving to Eddie, Steve sauntered over to him. Feeling good that they were just two friends having a picnic together, at least he hoped it looked like that to the public eye.
“Of course I did, I wouldn’t miss it for a minute. I’ve been looking forward to this since the fair Steve, why wouldn’t I come? I’m not the kind of person to stand someone up, I mean unless there was a problem.”
Steve looked down at Eddie on the ground, sitting down as well he took everything in around them. Listening to Eddie speak calmed Steve’s anxiety, he looked forward to this date they’d planned. Well more like Eddie had planned, it was a bit of a surprise for Steve.
“What movie were we going to see? You haven’t told me that yet. Unless that’s a surprise too.”
Not knowing what all Eddie had planned up his sleeve he didn’t mind. Steve wasn’t used to being this spontaneous anymore, just getting to spend time with Eddie was what he wanted and needed. Everything had changed the day Eddie set foot in Steve’s life, he hadn’t been this happy since he’d been with Nancy.
“Do you really want to know Steve? I figured I at least keep that much a surprise, but if you must know, I was thinking top gun. I hope you like tuna fish sandwhiches, because that’s what we’ve got today. I wasn’t sure what you’d want.”
Looking at the sky above, Steve listened. Taking bites of his sandwhich and talking with Eddie, he was happy knowing they got the time together. He only wanted Eddie happy, Steve looked forward to spending time with him and getting to know him.
“That sounds great, anything to make you happy.”
Steve slipped his hand closer to Eddie’s, hoping he wasn’t reading too much into it. There was something there between them, the electricity and connection they had was something Steve hadn’t felt in years.
“What’re you thinking Steve? You’re hard to read.”
Looking to Eddie, Steve leaned in closer to him. Not knowing how to tell him, the heat rose, there was so much to this complexity of a man.
“You, I don’t know. I’ve not felt this way in years, first love. But it’s different with you.”
Whispering in Eddie’s ear Steve felt a shiver emanate from the both of them. Knowing this may look weird to passerby’s he didn’t mind, it wasn’t anything to him. After eating and walking around the lake a bit they made their way to the movies.
Leaving together in Eddie’s car Steve couldn’t help but feel some kind of way. Not knowing how long they’d have together for the night he wasn’t too worried, Steve wanted to make the best of their time and wanted to have fun. He didn’t want to have to think too much, sometimes it was harder not to think.
“Two tickets for top gun please. You go find our seat, I’ll be right in.”
Steve didn’t want to leave Eddie’s side, not at that moment. Standing there for a moment he read Eddie’s look as a command, making his way into the theater he picked the row closest to the top. Not realizing who was there he sat down and waited, he hadn’t seen Billy or Tommy behind him.
Steve hadn’t told Eddie about them, he didn’t want him to know that king Steve was the one being bullied now. The tides had changed, Steve had his moments and could still be a dick, but he was trying to change. Eddie didn’t know about that side of Steve, he hoped he wouldn’t ever find out about it.
“Got some popcorn and candy, wasn’t sure what you’d want. But I hope you like twizzlers and cookie dough bites, I also got us a cherry coke. Hope you don’t mind.”
Looking to Eddie as Steve turned his head from the trailers he smiled. This wasn’t something he got to do too often, he did have some money and would do anything he could to get more. He wasn’t sure if Eddie was as well off as he was or not but he didn’t want to always have Eddie pay for everything.
“Thank you, you’re the best. Thank you for making it better, for being that light in the darkness. I know, it’s cheesy. But it does mean allot to me.”
Feeling little kernels of popcorn and candy being thrown at the back of his head Steve turned around in his seat. Listening to the loud talk of Billy and Tommy just pissed him off. Knowing this would end up being trouble Steve wanted to leave and get away from them. He wasn’t looking forward to this.
“I didn’t know Stevie boy was into other guys. Fucking queer if you ask me, but it’s whatever. Glad we’re not friends anymore, never did like you much anyways.”
Trying to hear the trailers and listen to Eddie Steve couldn’t, something bubbles inside of him. He knew it wasn’t worth it trying to fight with Tommy and Billy, he’d only ever won once. They could take him down easily if they really wanted to.
“Steve, don’t listen to them. It’s fine, you don’t need to let them get to you. Just stay calm. I’m right here.”
Feeling a squeeze in his hand Steve knew Eddie was trying to tether him down to earth. Sometimes it was too much for him, even then. But he was happy knowing he did have some sort of light at the end of the tunnel.
“Fuck you guys, leave us the hell alone. Can’t you see I’m just minding my own damn business.”
Kissing Eddie on the cheek Steve tried to keep his attention on the screen, this wasn’t going as planned. His day had gone from great to bad, he knew he shouldn’t let it get to him. But it was easier said than done.
“You never had friends anyways Harrington. People just pretended to be your friend, they never liked you. King Steve, always getting what he wants. Well those days are over, what’re you doing with a freak like him anyways, I thought you were better off with Nancy. The slut with a heart of gold.”
Flushing at the words he was hearing Steve buried his head in Eddie’s shoulder. He didn’t know what to do anymore, he hated this for them. Not wanting to make a scene he was thankful knowing there were witnesses there, in case anything did happen.
“You’ve got no right bringing any of this up, you’re trying to ruin my night. I’m not going to stand for this.”
Clenching his hands together Steve wanted to just get out of there. He didn’t want to fight, he just wanted to leave. He wasn’t having fun knowing they were there.
“What’re you going to do about it? You can’t do shit. I wouldn’t want to be seen with either of you guys.”
I’m sorry it’s taken me a few days to get this chapter out. I’ve been trying, hope you guys enjoy. I’m really proud of where this is going and how it’s turning out. Comments/questions and suggestions are welcome. Anything to help me make it better :)

Been thinking about what might have happened if Brenner had terminated One/Henry/Vecna when he had the chance.
So, Brenner wouldn't have had Eleven searching the darkness, which means the gate from S1 wouldn't have opened, and Eleven wouldn't have escaped.  The other numbers would've survived, and basically his whole program would've been a success.
Flash forward to the 90s and you have Eleven and the other Numbers as a frankly terrifying unit of remote assassins.  I'm not imaginative or smart enough to get into the geopolitical implications of America having that kind of power in their back pocket, so instead I wanted to see how many members of the original cast I could realistically incorporate into this AU.
So the first person I actually thought of was Suzie because she’s a genius, and I could totally see her joining the team at Hawkins Lab, or at least being smart enough to get their attention and a job offer (though I suspect when she finds out the nature of the project, she might not be so on board).  Then I thought she and Dustin could be a science power couple.  Like, the Hendersons has a good ring, no?
Equally, you could have any of the members of the AV club as technicians of some description, but I don’t have any specific thoughts for the rest of the Party.
Steve is my favourite character, so naturally, I had to find a place for him somewhere.  I'm thinking security guard, maybe?  He’s too soft to be a handler or anything, and I don’t think he could condone the program, so either he just started out, or he guards the front door, completely oblivious to what goes on inside.
Then because I didn't want my AU to separate Steve and Robin, and also because she would actually fit in pretty well, Robin would have a job decoding and translating any messages the Numbers intercept.  Probably isn’t even aware of how the intelligence has been acquired for the same reason I gave for Steve.
I can’t in good conscience leave out Eddie, so he’d be the most metal janitor ever.
Let me know if you agree/disagree with my role assignments or have any other ideas.

Helping hands (& nails)
Steddie | T | ~5.3k | AO3 link
Written for @steddie-week Day 2: hands
Tumblr media
Featuring: Fluff and Humor, Hurt/Comfort, Homoerotic Wound Care, Flirting, First Kiss, Inexperienced Eddie Munson, Gay Eddie Munson, Confident Bisexual Steve Harrington, Eddie Munson is a Sweetheart, Eddie Munson Takes Care of Steve Harrington, Post-Stranger Things 4 Vol. 2, Alternate Universe - Everyone Lives/Nobody Dies, POV Steve Harrington
“You literally want me to scratch your back.” Steve groans. “Yes. Definitely, do that. Please.” “Hmm, I love it when they beg.” Steve freezes, speechless for a second. His face suddenly feels several degrees warmer. “Oh my god, shit, sorry, that was—” Eddie begins mumbling awkwardly, moving away, and Steve won’t have it. “Dude, you mind not flirting with me while I’m suffering here?”
It’s a little over a week since Vecna got defeated, and Steve’s got an uninvited guest at his house.
Uninvited is not the same as unwelcome, obviously. Frankly, Steve’s glad to have some company. Really glad. Although technically, Eddie Munson is still supposed to be on bed rest.
Doctor’s orders were two weeks; the demobats got the guy pretty roughed up, taking several juicy bites out of his torso before they all went down along with their master. He got patched up pretty quickly, but his overall weakened state from massive blood loss, the doctors’ concerns of infection and possible Upside Down creature-related consequences, and that annoying little matter of clearing him of the ridiculous murder charges all kept Eddie on a government-sealed floor of the hospital for a whole week, with no visitors allowed.
It’s no wonder that when he was finally discharged to go home, he lasted three whole days before showing up on Steve’s doorstep, unceremoniously inviting himself in and complaining about being so bored he was about to start clawing at the walls of his bedroom.
And, well… It’s Steve’s day off anyway, and his entire planned entertainment for the day was a potential lunch phone call from Robin to gossip and complain about how impossible Kieth is to survive a shift with.
Plus, at least it’s better if Eddie hangs out at his place instead of going out somewhere and doing something stupid that would get him to pop his stitches. Like climbing a tree. Steve hasn’t known Eddie for long, but in a way, he’s known enough to suspect something like that might happen.
But the best part is, Eddie Munson turns out to be really good company. For the first few minutes after the guy arrived, Steve’s a bit worried it would be quiet and awkward; after all, what did they have in common besides the whole Upside Down trauma (definitely not a fun conversation topic)? But the idea that it could be quiet with Eddie around turns out to be absolutely laughable. The guy keeps chatting about anything and everything, from how annoying it is to keep track of all the meds he’s supposed to take to random gossip from the trailer park. He’s vibrant and chaotic, and has a dry deadpan sense of humor that Steve finds himself genuinely laughing at; and pretty soon, he starts wondering if him and Eddie could actually be friends back in high school if the whole ridiculous system of social circles didn’t exist.
Halfway through some other half-finished thought, Eddie suddenly asks, “You hungry? I’m kinda starving, Wayne’s getting groceries tonight and the only option I had for breakfast was, I shit you not, a fucking box of Honeycombs, and honestly? I’d rather eat a demobat. Well, if it was cooked, maybe. Hey, d’you think roasted demobats could be a thing?”
He keeps rambling as he walks, with Steve trailing behind him, grinning and shaking his head because… well, damn. This guy sure is something else. Maybe exactly the kinda something Steve didn’t even know he needed in his life. Honestly, he’d probably say the same thing about Robin last year. Is this some profound universal balance thing? Out of something horrible must come something really good?

My heart's desire: you

Tumblr media
Eddie never expected much from life, if he was honest.
Sure, once upon a time he had dreams. Big ones. Go to LA, become a rock star, leave this shithole of a town behind. Find his people, a place where he belonged. Not a freak, but someone worthy.
Deep down he didn't really believe they would come true - not for people like him - but it was nice to have them. They helped him fall asleep at night and even more to get up in the morning.
All those dreams bit the dust when he did. The dead don't dream, right?
Right.
It's just that he's not exactly dead. But he's not alive either. So what does that mean for his dreams?
He doesn't sleep anymore. Doesn't need to. Sometimes he manages to drift, his body completely still while his mind is somewhere else.
But when that happens, he's not dreaming. He just remembers.
Remembers his mama and how she used to dance around the house with him to Elvis or Roy Orbison. Blue Bayou was her favorite.
Remembers his father's pale face as he left Eddie behind, running from the law while Eddie stayed behind to take the fall, just because he couldn't let a cop bleed to death because of his father's schemes.
Remembers Wayne, his gruff voice and warm hugs. His unconditional love and unwavering support. The one person who always believed in him, who gave him a home and a family when Eddie had nothing.
Remembers practicing his songs with the boys and endless afternoons filled with music and campaigns and laughter. His own little corner of the world where he was free to be himself, loud and unapologetic.
Remembers Dustin and Mike and Lucas and Erica. Red and Buckley and Wheeler. Their fierce determination, their selflessness, their love for one another. He had been helpless but to join them, even when everything inside him screamed to run, to hide, to never look back.
Most of the time, though, he remembers Steve. Which should be weird, since they only spent a week together, him running from an angry mob, Steve helping him while also trying to save the world. Sure, he remembers the looks they shared, the touches, the pet names, and the flirting. But it was stolen time, stolen moments without real substance - the reckless abundance of someone who never expected to make it out alive.
He didn't. And yet here he stands, hidden among the trees surrounding the Harrington estate, watching Steve through the windows of his kitchen as he makes himself a sandwich.
It's not the first night he's spent like this, and it won't be the last.
Ever since he clawed his way out of the Upside Down, he's been watching over them. His friends, he thinks. They had been his friends. When he was still human. Can you still have friends when you're not alive, or are they like dreams, out of reach when your skin grows cold and your lungs stop breathing?
He doesn't know. All he knows is that when he came back different, wrong, he still had his memories. He remembers the love and affection he once had for them. That's why he watches over them, he tells himself. Because he had loved them once.
A few months ago, when the portals to the Upside Down were wide open, everyone had gathered here at Steve's, so Eddie had been there, too. Not inside the house, of course, but watching. Guarding it.
Not being alive makes him almost invincible. He has claws on his hands and fangs in his mouth. He's faster and stronger than ever. Any monster that tried to sneak up on them was killed in seconds, a few minutes at most. Soon they didn't even try anymore.
It's as if they somehow know that Eddie is the strongest predator around, and that these humans are his.
They defeated Vecna in the end, closing the gates once and for all.
And Eddie is still here. Still not alive.
Still watching over Steve, with the full moon above him and the warm late summer wind blowing through his hair. The clouds covering the moon provide enough cover for him to come closer, still hidden in the darkness as he continues to watch.
Time feels strange sometimes, but he thinks he has been watching Steve for as long as he can remember.
A lonely boy with strawberry blond hair, waiting to be picked up from preschool long after everyone else has left. A gangly teenager on his first day of middle school, looking lost and alone again. The same boy, taller now, finally filling out his form, sun-kissed skin and windswept hair. Popular, attractive, but still lonely deep inside.
The Eddie he had once been had been intrigued by Steve Harrington. The boy had been an enigma, even more so when Dustin and Lucas, and sometimes even Mike, sang his praises as if he were their greatest hero. And then he had seen again and again how badass Steve was, how brave and self-sacrificing. How much he was willing to give for the people he considered his own.
Back when his heart was still beating, it had been beating for Steve. Can you still love someone when your heart is no longer beating?
Eddie doesn't have an answer to that question. All he knows is that the sight of Steve brings a warmth he can almost feel, a flicker of something that might have been hope if he still had the capacity for it. And for now, that flicker is enough to keep him watching, night after night, hidden in the shadows.
Tonight, however, something feels different. Eddie watches as Steve steps out of the kitchen, his eyes scanning the darkness, almost as if he senses a presence. Eddie tenses, ready to retreat further into the shadows, but something holds him back.
Steve takes a few hesitant steps towards the edge of the property, his gaze unwavering. "I know you're out there," he calls softly, his voice carrying a blend of fear and determination. "I don't know who or what you are, but I know you're watching."
Eddie's breath catches—or it would have, if he still breathed. He remains still, his eyes fixed on Steve, who continues to inch closer. The moonlight breaks through the clouds, casting a silver glow over the yard, and Steve's eyes widen as they meet Eddie's.
"Eddie?" Steve whispers, disbelief and something else, something Eddie can’t place, coloring his tone. "Is that really you?"
For a moment, Eddie considers fleeing. Every fiber of his being screams at him to retreat into the safety of the shadows. To hide his monstrous self. But the look in Steve's eyes, the raw mixture of hope and sorrow, roots him to the spot. He steps forward, emerging from the shadows, his form illuminated by the moonlight. "Hello, Steve," he replies, his voice rough from disuse. "I'm... different now, so you be the judge if it's still me."
Steve stares, taking in Eddie's altered appearance—the fangs, the claws, the otherworldly aura. Yet, despite the changes, there's something unmistakably Eddie in his eyes. "How?" Steve asks, his voice breaking. "How is this possible?"
Eddie shakes his head. "I don't know. I woke up in the Upside Down after you all left, not alive but not dead either and clawed my way outta there. I've been watching over you, all of you, ever since."
Steve takes another step closer, his hand reaching out tentatively. "But… Why didn't you come to us? We thought you were gone. I - We missed you. Dustin -"
"I didn't know if you'd accept me like this," Eddie admits, his voice barely above a whisper. "I'm not the same person I was. I’m a monster now."
Steve's hand finally makes contact with Eddie's arm, and the touch sends a jolt through both of them. Eddie's skin, cold and unfeeling for so long, seems to come alive under Steve's touch. The sensation is overwhelming, flooding him with emotions he thought he'd lost. "You're still Eddie," Steve says firmly. "And that's all that matters."
For the first time since his transformation, Eddie feels something akin to hope. Maybe, just maybe, he can find a new place in this world, even in his altered state. And maybe, just maybe, he doesn't have to watch from the shadows anymore.
As they stand there, bathed in moonlight and the warmth of newfound connection, Eddie allows himself to believe that he can still be part of something, that he can still matter. And for the first time in a long time, he feels a glimmer of peace.
But more than peace, he feels a longing, a deep-seated yearning that he can no longer ignore. The way Steve looks at him, with such trust and acceptance, stirs something inside Eddie that he thought was long dead. He realizes that he's not just watching over Steve out of a sense of duty or lost affection; he's watching because he still loves him, with a love that doesn’t need a beating heart to stay alive.
"Eddie," Steve whispers again, his voice softer now, filled with an emotion that Eddie can't quite name but feels deep in his bones. "Stay with me. Don't disappear again."
Eddie's heart, or whatever remains of it, aches at Steve's words. He wants nothing more than to stay, to be close to Steve, to feel that warmth he's been yearning for. He’s been so cold for so long. "I'll stay," Eddie promises, his voice trembling with emotion. "For as long as you'll have me."
Steve's eyes shine with unshed tears as he pulls Eddie into a hug, their bodies fitting together as if they were always meant to. In that embrace, Eddie feels more alive than he has since he died.
And so, under the silver light of the moon, Eddie and Steve stand together, holding onto each other with a love that defies the boundaries of life and death. For the first time, Eddie dares to believe in a future where he doesn't have to hide in the shadows, where he can be with the person he loves, and where he can finally find a place to belong.
As long as Steve is willing to hold him like that, he doesn't need to be alive. All he needs is to be here in Steve’s arms.

*CLAPS* THANKYOU!
I think the sooner people learn that we don’t really know how s5 is gonna go down, and that byler can happen in a hundred different ways so it doesn’t really matter if certain theories are debunked the better

our phantom of forever
➠ summary: eddie is resurrected by vecna, only to realize you don't exist in the upside down.
➠ pairing: eddie munson x fem!reader (she/her pronouns)
➠ word count: 1.3k words
➠ warnings: angst city, death, resurrection, allusions to suicidal thoughts (eddie wishing for death), swearing, reader moved to hawkins with her parents, vecna being vecna.
➠ a/n: pushing the 'eddie is alive' agenda 😌 i have a couple ideas about eddie making a deal with vecna that i'm debating turning into a series or just standalone one shots, so let me know what you think! and let's continue to live in delulu
Tumblr media
It was stupid, running away from Vecna in the Upside Down. It wasn't like he controlled it or anything. But Eddie Munson isn't exactly known for his smart decisions.
He makes a mad dash from the Creel House the first chance he gets. He's alive, resurrected by the very monster responsible for his death. Eddie should be relieved that he can feel his heart beating as he runs through the decrepit streets of Hawkins. The never ending fog blurs his vision, not that it matters. Upside Down or not, he knows where he is going. No alternate dimension can change that.
All Eddie wants is you. He wants to curl his wrecked body around yours and cry into your neck as you tell him everything will be okay. He knows it won't happen, Vecna won't be so quick to let his new plaything go. But the hope is still there, and it's enough to take him across town towards the direction of your home.
If he can't physically be with you, then at least he can be surrounded by you. A piss poor replacement, but he'll take what he can get.
The ash-like spores make his lungs burn with every jagged breath. His body, still weak from his death, begs for him to stop, but he is already here. The navy blue paint is chipped and vines have broken through the front windows, but it's still your home. The world around him blurs into a watercolor of black and blue as he rushes through your front door and up the stairs to your bedroom.
Maybe you'll be waiting for him. You'll greet him with open arms and a teary smile and –
Nothing.
You're not there. In fact, none of your belongings are there. Not your bed, not your desk, your posters, your clothes. The room is empty.
What the hell?
He moves towards your bathroom. The counter should be covered in your toiletries. The doodles he'd given to you should be taped up along the mirror.
An owl with "You're owl I need" written on the bottom.
A mug with "I love you a latte" etched in the front.
Another of a cat holding a sign that says, "I've got felines for you."
The bathroom is as empty as your room. The only things waiting for him are those fucking vines, slithering out of the bathroom sink like a bouquet of snakes.
No, no, no.
Vecna controls this universe, right? So it's not completely unreasonable that he could make you disappear. Right? That has to be it. This is just Vecna. It's all Vecna.
"Do you really think so little of me? After I saved your life? Think, boy."
Eddie's head shoots up to the mirror, expecting to see the monster standing behind him like this is some sort of horror movie, but he's alone. Of course Vecna has an omnipresent voice that echoes throughout. Of course he fucking does.
He's never gonna beat the God complex allegations, Eddie thinks as the vines in the sink start to move. A little nudge of encouragement so to speak.
He bolts out of your room and down the hallway to your parent's bedroom.
Empty.
He tries the linen closet.
Nothing.
He practically tumbles down to the first level. Your living room, dining room, kitchen, even the garage. Everything is devoid of you and anything connected to you.
Dread is settles in the pit of his stomach. He is running out of places to check. All he thinks to do is scream. And he does. He wails and wails until his vocal cords hemorrhage. The dull taste of blood in the back of his throat makes him add obscenities to his screams. Maybe it'd be enough to echo through the other side. Hell, he'd take your parents materializing to scold him. He'd take anything as long as it means you're there. But nothing ever comes. It's just him and his pain.
It's like you never existed.
Only when he's back in your bedroom, standing in the exact spot where your bed should be, does he remember Nancy's diary. Ice cold realization turns his organs into stone.
He tries not whimper, "She isn't here, is she?"
"No, she's not, but you already knew that." With every word, the fog thickens into a violent red until the monster responsible for all of this appears in front of him. Eddie shakes his head in furious denial as the date in Nancy's diary taunts him.
November 6, 1983.
It's like you don't exist in the Upside Down because of you don't exist. Your family wouldn't move to Hawkins until the following month. It wouldn't be until the start of the spring semester when you and Eddie would properly meet, paired up for a science project. By February, he'd build up the courage to ask you on a date. His adoration for you would bloom with the spring flowers. He would be head over heels in love with you by the fall.
But with the Upside Down frozen at a point in time where he didn't even know your name, you won't be here. There will be no record of you, no liferaft to cling to as his humanity is thrown into freefall.
"No, it's not fair! This isn't fucking fair!"
"The human existence is anything but fair. Your life was an excellent example of that."
Eddie knows that very well, but he doesn't need this walking smear stain reminding him like he's a toddler. He remembers every taunt, shove, and outrage that formed his life. They were his to experience, not anyone else's. They were his life no matter how unfair it may have been. Vecna didn't get to use them against him.
Now, he is angry. He lunges toward the monster, but vines shoot out to wrap around his waist before he can reach Vecna. They throw him back violently, wrapping around his middle and neck to keep him flush against the wall. The tendril around his waist tightens until he stops moving, his arms pinned to his side. Another vine slithers around his neck, squeezing until he has no choice but to look up at the monster of the Upside Down.
"So ungrateful even after I gifted you the chance of another life. Do you understand I can take that away from you? And then how would you see her again?"
Eddie grimaces, scrunching his nose and glaring with all the resentment building inside. He knows where this is going, the manipulation so obvious it's insulting.
The weight of his situation presses down on him harder than the vines bundling his body. He finally cries. Fat, angry tears run down his dirty cheeks as he glares at Vecna. Eddie hopes he looks as pathetic as he feels. Maybe Vecna will be disgusted and realize he made a mistake resurrecting him. He is not a killer, not a hero, not a villain. He is just Eddie.
He wishes for a reinstatement of his death sentence. He'd rather his body be picked apart by demobats than a life shackled by shame and defeat.
"I'm not unreasonable, Eddie," Vecna takes heavy steps towards him. "You can see her again, if it's what you really want. It won't be easy, but it will be worth it. I just need you to do something for me."
The tears keep falling, his vision blurring from the splotches in the shape of you. He thinks of you, the way you smell, the comforting feeling of your hand in his, the sweet nothings you'd whisper when you thought he was asleep. He remembers the nights you'd spend wrapped in his sheets, eyes glassy from all the weed you'd smoke, as you talk about the future.
That is all he will ever have of you – memories. Memories that will fade until only the pain of what could have been remains.
What else is he supposed to do?
"What is it?"

This is a fanfic of mine I’ve been wanting to get out for ages. Not sure if or how well it’ll turn out. It’s an au for stranger things 4 taking events after the upside down invades Hawkins. It contains swearing and some tough subjects like suicide attempts/self harm and language.
No Shame In Running
Prologue
Rain splattered all around, soaking Steve to the bone. Thunder rumbled in the distance, not caring one bit he took his flask from his pocket and took a swig from it. Letting the rain wash away his tears he laid down in the grass, not knowing how long he’d been there for. He pulled his walkie talkie out, Steve needed to talk to someone, it was all becoming too much for him. He hadn’t known Eddie well, but he missed him, there had been too many times where he wanted to end it all.
“Fuck this shit, why’d you have to die?”
Not really knowing what he was doing Steve wasn’t expecting to hear another voice on the other end of the walkie talkie, jumping somewhat as he heard another voice. Closing his eyes once more Steve listened, he just wanted to be with Eddie. He didn’t know what it had been that drew him to Eddie, maybe it was just the mysterious edge to the softy. Pulling a hand through his hair he switched to a more private line to talk to Dustin. There was too much going on in his head, Steve hadn’t seen Dustin since he’d gone off to college. He hadn’t really seen the kids much at all since the events happened, that one fateful night.
“Steve, where are you? I’m coming now. Stay where you’re at, I’ll find you.”
Not knowing if he was just rambling or making much sense Steve curled up in the fetal position. He’d been pulling away from everyone, cutting himself off. Slowly willing himself to get off the ground he stumbled his way back to his car to drive to where he’d been staying, it was as if he’d become a walking zombie. It wasn’t a long drive, not that he minded it, Steve just wanted to be closer. Everything had changed, it had all gone downhill, he didn’t even know who he was anymore.
Parking the car he grabbed his belongings and slammed the door behind him. There wasn’t much he could do anymore, he’d lost all interest in everything he’d loved before. Grabbing the key he unlocked the door, looking around he took in his surroundings, not giving it much thought Steve made his way to the couch for a moment. Sitting down he noticed takeout and albums strewn across the room, clothes in piles on the floor. Tugging at his soaked shirt Steve looked for a pair of dry clothes, knowing there was a chance he could get sick he didn’t care. There was nothing he could do, rifling through clothes he turned on the hot water.
Locking the door behind him Steve looked around the bathroom. Rifling through the drawer he found his blade, he’d been careful not to let anyone see the scars. He knew everyone was worried about him, but Steve couldn’t let them see the state of mind he was in. Jumping in the shower he let the water cascade down his body and scald it, the sting of the water and blade against his flesh made everything go away. Not hearing the pounding on the door Steve washed his hair and body.
“Steve, open the damn door. What’s going on in there, is everything alright? You had me scared.”
Shutting off the water Steve groaned as he heard a muffled voice on the other end of the bathroom door. He didn’t know why Dustin was there, not remembering anything that had happened he’d been in a daze and going through the motions.
“I’ll be right out Henderson. No need to be afraid. Fucking hell.”
Closing the door behind him Steve finished pulling on his long sleeved shirt and sweatpants. Taking Dustin’s appearance into account he didn’t know what he was even doing anymore. Hoping to get somewhere in life Steve didn’t know what Dustin was doing there, he just wanted to be alone. He wasn’t complaining though because it had been a long time since he’d had company.
“You look like shit Steve.”
“Nice seeing you too Dustin, what’re you doing here? There’s drinks and food here, get whatever you want.”
Throwing some snacks towards Dustin he grabbed some beer and sat down on the couch once more. Sitting in silence was sometimes best for him, although left to himself too much and it was a bad thing.
“You called me, of course I’m going to worry and come here Steve. What’re you doing here anyways, you’re not yourself. How much have you been drinking anyways?”
Shrugging as he tried to remember Steve laid across Dustin on the couch, he knew he was a mess. But who wouldn’t be, Steve knew Dustin had been just as affected if not more so in his own way.
“I know I’m a fucking mess and it could be worse, but do you even know what I’ve been through Henderson? It sucks. Although it’s nice to have the company.”
Turning over on his side away from Dustin he tried to keep calm. Nothing was ever going to be the same.
“You don’t think it’s hard on me either Steve? Yeah, I do know what you’ve been through. I was there though when it happened, you seem to have forgotten that.”
Listening to Dustin, Steve really wanted to catch up and feel alive again or something. But he didn’t know how to, there was too much going on, he didn’t want to make it worse for Dustin either though. He hadn’t even really paid attention to what he was wearing, there wasn’t much he could do.
“I didn’t forget dude, I get it. I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you more, I’ve shut myself off from everyone though. So it’s not just you. But you don’t get it, I don’t think anyone will ever understand what I’m going through and I couldn’t ask anyone to.”
Steve wasn’t used to this, he didn’t want to be here anymore. He knew Dustin and the others cared, he knew they hadn’t pulled away and were trying to be there for him.
“You loved Eddie, didn’t you Steve?”
This is my first fanfic on here and I hope you guys like it and enjoy. Please bare with me, I’ll do my best to update it as much as possible. Comments and suggestions are much appreciated :)
