welp, essay time, lets talk about the clown in the room.

the amazing digital circus spoilers below!

so, Kaufmo's room.

The room of a mad man and a recently "abstracted" human. we don't know much about Kaufmo, other than he told unfunny jokes and was looking for a way out. He lost his mind at some point and got "abstracted" as the result.

What this means and how it happens is hard to say for sure as of now, but madness seems to be the main cause of it. Before he turned however, he has spread his madness to the rest of his room, so lets look at what we have here.

Most of it is simply the word "exit" over and over and over and over again with some disturbing art as well.

"EXIT EXIT EXIT EXIT EXIT EXIT EXIT EXIT EXIT EXIT"

However, there are some exceptions. Certain spots have partially readable writing on them. To start with, the head of his bed.

"CAN'T SLEEP"

Its partially obscured, but its location behind the pillow make it obvious what it says. They say that they don't need to sleep, but this implies that he wanted to sleep, but couldn't. If that is due to just his madness, or something else its hard to say. Hard to know what that means as of now, but its something to note.

Now the sketch on the back wall. The phrase is fairly self explanatory, as far as we know, there is no way out of the circus. Not much to say about that, but the drawing is interesting. A fanged Cain chasing after Kaufmo. Seems he has a fear of the ringmaster, understandable at first, but further thinking makes you ask some questions.

"NO WAY OUT"

We see at the end of the episode that Cain actually tried to make an exit for them, but never finished his simulated version of the outside. When we first see him dancing around the idea of an exit door, we assume malicious intent. However, its more likely he was referring to this exit, rather than an actual way to leave.

This place is clearly a fabrication of the world outside The Amazing Digital Circus, one half built by Cain. He said he made it because everyone kept asking about it, but never finished it and didn't want them seeing his unfinished work. He also didn't want them ending up in the void, a slightly more important reason to keep it locked up.

But regardless, he did try to actually appease them, give the trapped humans the closest approximation to freedom he could. Its clear that Cain is not in full total control of the circus, its possible that even he doesn't know how to leave.

Anyway, back to my point. Cain is weird, strange, and insane, but he's not really "evil", so Kaufmo's depiction of him doesn't make total sense. But then again, the eyes of madness are hardly a reliable source. We will need to see more of him to learn his true intentions, but for now he just seems unhinged rather than actually bad.

Back to the room though, there is one more thing I want to go over, the foot of his bed.

"WHAT DID THE E------ SAY TO THE C--------"

this one is hard to determine, but thankfully for us, this isn't the only place we see this sentence. We also see it scrawled onto one of the paintings in the wide shot.

"WHAT DID THE EXIT SAY TO THE CLOWN?"

Now at first this seems nonsensical, but remember who wrote this. Kaufmo liked to tell jokes, this is the only real thing we know about him. In that light this is clearly worded as the setup to a joke. This begs the question on what the punchline is, but it also implies that the supposed "exit" somehow communicated with him. Probably not but its something to note.

We have no idea what the punchline could be at this moment sadly. It could be that him abstracting could metaphorically be the "punchline", or the lack of a response from the exit might also be it, hard to say.

"NO EXIT"

This is all what I can really determine from what we have seen in this room, other than interpretations of his various framed paintings, but I'll leave that to an art major or something.

Of course we have to ask if the "Exit" that he refers to even is the same exit Pomni found. They might have found something else, or maybe that exit door is a lot more important than we know. Maybe that weird computer is important.

Pomni seemed familiar enough with it that the mere sight of it sent her laughing mad. That vr headset looking thing is probably what she put on to get there.

All of this is just observations and speculation on the future, and I can't wait for the next episode!

GASTER'S RETURN - FAQ

What is the plot ?

Everything is in the title, it's a story about Gaster returning from wherever he was after his accident that broke him between time and space. This story is set after the Pacifist ending, months after monsters have been freed from the Underground

What are the main themes of this story ?

I would say it's main focus is about letting go, like the original game in a way

Is it an AU (Alternative Universe ?) ? And how close it is from Undertale ?

Yep, it is. I want to keep it as close of the canon as possible, to make the characters and universe as authentic as possible in order to really tell a story based on the game. But it won't be exactly the same as the canon.

Several details change in this story and this is why I call it a "AU", the main ones being :

Gaster : My interpretation of Gaster resemble a lot the general interpretation of the fandom about him, but not completely. It will be fun to play with what you know, or what you think you know about him :)

Sans and Papyrus's origins : In the original game, I strongly think that Sans and Papyrus don't come from Undertale, but from Deltarune (I won't elaborate more on that subject, you can make your own researches on this theory if you're interested), however it's not the case in this AU. Sans and Papyrus really come from the Undertale universe. It will change their characters, especially Sans, but I'll do my best to show them accurately (at least more accurately than the general fandom's representation of them)

Frisk : Frisk's personality have been imagined and adapted to this story. I wanted Frisk to be like a fusion of their actual personality in the game (because, yes, they have one even if it's really subtle) and the one of the player. So, you get it, the player in itself isn't really a thing in this universe

How did you get the idea of making this AU ?

At the very beginning, I just started to make some random drawings of Gaster, and some KingDings (AsgorexGaster) sketches, then other Gaster related things, and a story began to form into my mind. I decided that I wanted to make something out of it.

So does that mean there will there be KingDings in this AU ?

Well, not really. the main focus of this story won't be romance. At this point of their lives, neither of them are ready for a relationship (if I want it to be healthy). I have thought about making a KingDings mini serie after the main one to develop their relationship, but I don't know if I really will, I didn't even wrote anything for it yet.

When will the next pages come out ?

I try to make approximatively 5 pages every two weeks (I have another Undertale so I'm working on one and the other every week)

How long is this going to take to complete the story ?

Long as hell, I have written a prologue and 3 chapters to finish the story, wish me luck

Am I allowed to make a dub of the comic ?

I honestly don't know if anyone would ever want to make one, but if you do, sure you can ! (as long that you credit me of course)

You are also allowed to make fanarts, or any fanwork based on this AU, again I'm not sure if anyone would, but just in case x)

note: reader is described to be an appreciator of all art in general (visual arts and writing specifically)  just take what resonates lol, but yeah ^^ also ahh i wrote a song sorta similar to this concept before called “art museum” so i took inspo from that skjfsdf

if you think about it, everything you see has its own artistry, its own beauty; beauty is in the eye of the beholder after all. among all the things and people, however, you found kaveh to be the most beautiful thing of them all.

his creations were just as beautiful, of course. you couldn’t help but adore the details, the aesthetics, the everything. he was clearly someone who created with his heart on his sleeve, and it was why you admired him so dearly.

and while you had this respectful and deep admiration for him, he would only praise you for giving him such inspiration in the first place, whether it be the art you create or the love you give him.

he’d watch in awe, seeing you create visuals that make him swoon, and write words that almost bring him to tears.

if he wasn’t dating you, he’d still definitely be your number one fan.

that being said, you are dating, so expect that you do the most nerdy art things together; going to art museums, painting and wine dates, simply sitting in the living room and reading each other poetry (or even making some).

“hmm, and you were there, a heavenly body, a star, whose presence i had been blessed with.” “k-kaveh! you don’t need to read every poem… haven’t you flustered me enough, today?” “i wasn’t reading that time, beloved.”

everything reminds you of each other; when you both get home, you spend the first 30 minutes telling each other of everything you saw today that reminded you of each other.

more so, when it’s art. you both could go on for hours.

“i saw a newly installed statue today, i think it was a representation of spring, blooming and such?” “hmm… sounds lovely, i’d love to see it and interpret it for myself.” “well, for me, it only ever reminded me of you.”

helping each other with your arts; i mean, art is a form of expression and you think kaveh brings out the best in you vice-versa.

he’ll ask for your opinion on sketches, how he can improve and get his feelings across better. he’ll often feign naivety and ask you to help him draw it, just so he can get you to hold him closer.

“dear… i truly haven’t a clue what you mean. could you maybe guide my hand and help me understand?”

you know what he’s doing, of course, but you’re not complaining. you’ll even tease him and whisper softly into his ear; he asked for it after all.

when you’re writing, painting, sketching or doing anything at all really, you can expect him to be watching. he’ll hum in agreement or gently speak some words of affirmation.

when he notices you being a bit stuck, a bit uninspired and frustrated, or simply overworked, he’ll be quick to coax you into bed to cuddle.

he knows how easily you might get into your head, overthinking your work, critiquing every small detail, so he’ll simply get you to stop thinking period.

he’ll stroke your head, caress your cheeks, and mindlessly draw circles on your neck, while reading you your favorite poetry.

if all else fails, he takes you out to see the sunset/sunrise (whichever is more convenient). underneath the dance of colors, the borders between day and night, he reminds you how beautiful the world is. without over complicating everything, the world simply creates all its wonders as they are.

he won’t let go of you until you get a well deserved night’s rest, and you can always expect to be right there when you wake up.

and you wake up to see that lazy smile of his, slightly squinted eyes and groggy morning voice; there’s a tenderness as he greets you a “good morning, beautiful.” and you know feel all your worries melt away.

you think he’s a being way beyond any piece of art, because he gives you reasons to face the next day, and have the courage to express yourself.

that and you can kiss him silly until you can only say each other’s names.

What would it be like if Gumball and Marshall were swapped?

Omgomgomg I've been thinking about that swapping concept and I gotta doodle it someday because I have some ideas,, ,

What I imagined if Marshall Lee and Gumball swapped species: Marshall Lee would still be a candy prince, and Gumball would be the vampire king. Royal boys wow

I think Candy Prince Marshall Lee would be pretty calmer and less chaotic than his Vampire-Demon self, kinda like Human Marshall Lee from the canon spinoff but fancier. Not being raised in hell sure does wonders to a person.

But even though he's not a troublemaker, people would be quick to assume he's doing sketchy stuff behind closed doors... And they're right but that's not the point. He'd have this unusual aura around him, which causes people to have mixed feelings about him.

I like to think he'd still have a vampire-like appearance, always dressing in black, shaping his ears and teeth to look more pointed and sharp… His kingdom would look different too. I'm thinking that he'd have something like living candy statues of Gargoyles perched over the walls of his kingdom instead of Gumball Guardians. People might get freaked out because at first glance they wouldn't know that the statues can move and then suddenly there's Gargoyles flying around their houses at night, and now they feel like they're being observed. I think Marshall would be the type to mess with stuff he shouldn't too, such as dark magic and whatnot. He's a little prince of darkness.

He's also made of marshmallow. Strawberry marshmallow.

Unlike Gumball, he “bleeds” when he gets hurt, like a strawberry jelly. You can't really tell if it's just his filling or if it's actually blood, because chances are that it's both mixed together. Sometimes the dark arts require fresh blood to be successful, and that's his way of solving it.

As for Vampire Gumball, I actually haven't put a lot of thought into him yet, so my interpretation is still a concept up to changes (⁠・⁠∀⁠・⁠)

When I think of him, I imagine a lonely and depressed king who fell from his glory after having his court and minion armies decimated. That kinda sounds like an embodiment of PG’s fears mmmmm

I think he would be less sweet than his usual self. He used to be a more authoritarian and rigid king, he doesn't tolerate reckless behavior, so sit your ass down and only seek for blood when you're actually hungry, not just because you can (he's looking at you, The Star /hj). He probably values discreet work when hunting more than outwardly imposing fear and power, for the sake of surviving longer. Some vampires don't take him as seriously as they should because of this lack of total freedom. This does not mean that he does not assert authority, however. He will smack you upside down the head if you disrespect him.

He would still have some of his original traits despite everything. He can't create life like PG can, but maybe he's still connected to it somehow. Maybe he spends more time studying humans than he kills them, paralleling PG being a nerd lol. Maybe he's kinda like the VK and likes to be around animals too, and has a fatherly streak in him.

He wasn't staked when the vampires were persecuted and no one has any idea where he is now.

Not sure how it would be if Candy Prince Marshall and Vampire King Gumball met. The vampire era would've automatically made them stand on opposite sides, with Marshall Lee looking for Gumball's footsteps and Gumball trying to stay under his radar and manage his bloodthirsty armies at the same time.

But let's say they meet when Gumball is already a fallen king and isn't as big of a threat. Marshall would try to become "allies" with him, keeping him around in case Marshall needs him and having some sort of symbiotic relationship with him, with the occasional borderline flirting on Marshall's part.

I guess Gumball wouldn't be too fond of Marshall's connection to magic and would be sketchy of his sweet-talk, at the same time he'd have a bit of a soft spot for him. “Sometimes I feel like I would have loved to have you in my court”, he might say to him.

Bridgerton Season 4, Episode 3 - So Long London

It's starting to get a bit more challenging to reference the book (An Offer from a Gentleman) and still tell the story of Benedict and Sophie the way I hope the show will next season. This episode features the first of a few planned Benedict and Eloise swing conversations!

SCENE 1 - BENEDICT LOOKING THROUGH ART SUPPLIES

INT. BRIDGERTON HOUSE ATTIC/STORAGE ROOM - DAY

BENEDICT is opening and closing chests and looking through boxes, moving stacked crates and reviewing what is inside.

BENEDICT finds a chest full of his old sketches and drawing supplies. BENEDICT sits on a nearby chest, bringing a stack of sketches to his lap and reviewing the art, wistfully.

BENEDICT stands and searches through another CRATE full of blank sheets and drawing supplies. He gathers the supplies into one CRATE and picks up to take with him.

BENEDICT exits the attic

TRANSITION TO BENEDICT’S BEDROOM

BENEDICT enters with the CRATE of art supplies and places it on his DESK. He begins to unpack the art supplies, laying them out on his desk carefully.

SCENE 2 - BENEDICT AND ANTHONY TALK ABOUT ART

INT. BENEDICT’S BEDROOM, DOOR SLIGHTLY AJAR - DAY

BENEDICT sits at his desk, sketching.

ANTHONY passes by in the hallway, and looks into BENEDICT’S ROOM.

ANTHONY enters BENEDICTS BEDROOM.

ANTHONY

Back at it again? It seems I haven’t seen you pick up a sketching pencil in quite some time.

BENEDICT

I guess it has been years since I have been inspired to create anything … of note.

ANTHONY

And what is it, after all this time that has inspired you so?

BENEDICT

I am not sure if I can put a name to it. Or if I should try.

ANTHONY

I do think you should try to find out what t is. So that you might bottle it and save it for a time you are less inspired. So that you might maintain your passion longer than mere fancy allows.

BENEDICT

Why should I try to create when I am not inspired to do so? When my enthusiasm wanes, should I not put down my pencil? Lest I create something that embarrasses the senses.

ANTHONY sits down in the CHAIR near the desk.

ANTHONY

I am no artist, but I do not think putting down your pencil is how one trains the hand, or the eye. You used to have such passion, and seemed fearless in your endeavours; only to abandon it at the slightest chance you might be judged unfavourably. 

BENEDICT

No artist likes to be judged.

ANTHONY

You do not have to enjoy being judged, but it seems like an inevitable circumstance any artist will encounter. Being evaluated. Any piece hanging in the great halls of a gallery is open to interpretation and analysis by its observers. However knowledgeable those observers may be. That is where the fearless nature of artists is born, is it not?

BENEDICT

Well I suppose I am not so fearless then, am I?

ANTHONY

I just do not want that fear, that self consciousness to prevent you from taking a risk that is worth it. That could be life changing - that should have been life changing.

BENEDICT

I did not want to be judged as a fraud. I do not think that was a risk worth taking.

ANTHONY

I do not think you were scruntized as such. Everything I heard, from you, and others, was that you have a real talent, regardless of your path to find it.

BENEDICT

That path being money and influence?

ANTHONY

Why do you think any observer of your works will care that you are the second born Bridgerton? You are the only person that holds that against you. Sees your namesake as an impediment to your art career.

BENEDICT

So you think I gave up my chance too soon?

ANTHONY

I do not think you have lost the chance at anything you desire to pursue. But I do think you should not abandon something you truly want because of the opinion of others. Especially if their only opinion is based on the fact that you are a Bridgerton.

BENEDICT leans back in his chair.

ANTHONY stands, looks at BENEDICT solemnly.

ANTHONY

I do hope you understand my words are meant as counsel, not judgement.

ANTHONY exits.

i had to drop the headcanons that's been eating up my mind bc the other day while i was taking my mock tests, my mind kept drifting off to the couple. lol. so here's a list of headcanons i had as a reader, from all the different bits of the story and the things you told us. hehe. these are mostly 'soft moments' as asked by you in that ask ( i wish i could drop the reference links, but i'm on my phone so it's hard to operate dually. however, i shall say which parts inspired what brainrot : they're from your works )

if she loves her things organized, i can see— during the beginning of their dating life, tae'd come over on a random weekend, only to find a!oc cleaning up, in her most natural state, and the mundane aspect of it would melt him. why? bcos he's the been there, done that sort of person, but not when it comes to these things. the domesticity, i mean. hehe.

also, the fact that she trusted him enough to show that side of her? :') the only reason she wouldn't stress about her look is bc she's adorably engrossed in her work and NEEDS IT DONE AND HE SAW HER IN OTHER STATES TOO 🫠

this one is also from initial years. i think if she were to ever get injured in any way or had a scar—however minor, he'd still spend hours on those spot/s, kissing & hating himself for not being there when it happened. also, i think if she didn't tell him about such a thing/things bc it's not an issue to her, because he had sm going on according to her and didn't wanna pile on— he'd be upset. can see her making jokes about it since it's nothing to her, and him glaring at her with swimming red eyes ( just like the wedding drabble where he threatened her to never leave him ), and making similar threats to his favorite girl ( mid-lovemaking ) ☹️

you often write that before meeting her, tae's biggest flex in bed was composure. so i can literally see him shortcircuting (even during the roughest rounds), hearing her say the most loving things and her unadultered affection. the holds only bared by his urge to take care of her first like you always say.

also, i think when he first introduced her to his world of ruined tango, he was more concerned about her, than a!oc herself. can see him internally worrying, but she is the type to want it harder and more, anyway, to his constant surprise 😂 no, but seriously. suppose it's waxplay, and he knows what he's doing bc he's a pro, but it's still his a!oc 😭 no matter how much lust and control is swarming around them, his need to smear his affection on/inside her is REAL! ever love someone so much that even being balls deep in them isn't enough bc you wanna consume them whole??? and merge with their soul and being??? that's them, and it was novel for him. right?

and you said he kinda likes giving away control more now? why can i see a!oc, simply like a mini-him in some ways, just loving on every nook and crany of his being, when she first took over charge? 🥹 she must have had sm love to give him 🥹 i mean, in the past giving away control would be all about pleasure, but i think when he gave her that role for the first time, he wasn't expecting getting LOVED ON. FFXII Staff Interview: The Art Directors part I

Was Basch originally meant to be a young character when development began? But before we delve into that, please tell us about the time when you joined the development of FFXII!

Minaba: I joined the dev team after the international version of FFIX was finished. At first, the team discussed making a game for PlayOnline (FFXI) over a period of six months or a year, but before we knew it, it had become FFXII, haha. The character's head and body and even the decision of whether the game would be online or offline went through several changes during the development process. Akihiko: I joined the FFXII team at the same time as Minaba, after Vagrant Story was finished. Kamikokuryo: I joined a little later than the two of them, which is after FFX was released. It was only then that FFXII's development actually started. Minaba: I think it was around the time when the staff who had been working on PlayOnline (FFXI) started to join the FFXII project, that it was decided our team would become FFXII. Akihiko: At that time, we didn't have a scenario yet, so I sketched numerous characters for FFXII based on my own imagination. However, none of the designs I made at pre-production made it to the final product.

What were the initial concepts like? 

Minaba: In the beginning, all characters wear light clothing. In the final cut, only some of them do.  Akihiko: We had a complete polygon model that is named "Basch" for PS2 testing-purposes. This "Basch" is of different design than what we see in-game. "Basch" walked around on the map, but he wasn't an older man as we see today; he was a younger character.  By creation date alone, Basch was the oldest. After "Basch", I designed Vaan as the first official character. I spent a lot of time working on Vaan's design before the scenario was finalized, so it took me a long time to complete it. Kamikokuryo: It was very exciting to see the process of perfecting the polygon models of the characters. Minaba: The characters were drawn so well that everytime I work on them, I thought, "Ah, I must work hard too".

Akihiko-san, FFXII is your first work in mainline Final Fantasy, did you feel any pressure?

Akihiko: Whenever I felt pressure, I could not sleep at night, so I tried not to think about it. There are only so many designs I can come up with, so I tried to craft my own interpretation of what is 'Final Fantasy' and tried various concepts I could do with that framework, and as a result, I ended up with the current character designs.

In the staff roll following the epilogue, we can see Akihiko-san's artwork as the background, correct?

Akihiko: Yes, since the epilogue depicts what happens after the main story, in the illustrations for the staff roll, I tried to imagine the story before the main story's prologue. Actually, this marks the third instance where I've applied this approach, following Final Fantasy Tactics and Vagrant Story. My apologies for the repetition (laughs).

In one of the illustrations, Fran and her sisters are looking out the window. What were they looking at?

Akihiko: I drew it as if she were looking out the window into the world of Ivalice. Most Viera live in the forest and do not go outside, but Fran is interested in the world outside and chooses to interact with humes. The illustration is a bit reminiscent of that.

Can you tell more about your Fate redesigns? Like your Penth, Hektor, Paris/Apollo, and Astolfo?

OKAY so first Imma talk about Paris/Apollo because Alexander-Paris is one of my most in-depth designs ATM and also explains some of Hektor's concepts!

Ignore that all I can in find my camera roll are SUPER old doodles of him lmao XD this ask really making me go through doodles from last year

So firstly is the color symbolism! I noticed in FGO that his design is very light-colored, and while that's interesting, I thought it would be more symbolic to have the main colors be dark as to point towards how he inherently can't escape his fate and actions as an adult, even in a child/teenage body, and also as a sort of symbol of how dark his future is. Adding on, Paris is VERY SPECIFICALLY summoned as having a child's body but the memories of his entire life, and I had the idea that the darker colors also show that he knows more than he lets on/he isn't innocent. The gold and such are to point towards him being a prince and technical demigod, and the blues are just in general for color diversity

With his horns and wings: Both Hektor and Paris in my AU are biologically Apollo's children (reference to some versions of the Troy Boys actually being his biological children instead of Priam's), so the horns and wings symbolize that (which Hektor doesn't have, more on that later). Apollo-Sheep's "humanoid" design concept actually has the wings and horns too (just bigger and more fancy lmao). Another Fun Fact: Both Hektor and Paris have some sun/fire related abilities in my AU, although it's slight

Next Paris and Hektor's eyes! Yep! I put thought into eye color! Paris' eyes are orange, while Hektor's are black. HOWEVER, when they use their NPs, Paris's eyes darken to black and Hektor's glow orange! Prominently, I honestly just thought Hektor having glowing eyes when using his NP would be Fun and Sexy XD However then i was like "...Okay but what if... Paris had opposite? What if... Symbolism?" And this idea is so cool to me because of how they can connect!!!! Hektor's glow because he's deemed to be Troy's hope, while Paris's darken because he's deemed as Troy's downfall!!! Sorry I just love how I can make the brothers contrast each other and how they can be interpreted AAAAA

I also made Paris's hair darker while Hektor's hair lighter so that they would look more similar to each other/look more like brothers, same with them both having wavy hair and the eyelash part on the bottom eye (it's kinda hard to see in the pictures RIP). I just wanted them to be a lil match-y. They also both have beauty marks that mirror each other! I imagine both of the Troy Boys to have thicker bodies

I gave Paris some armor parts as well as to look more similar to Hektor, while I also kept the cute dress parts because the cute stuff just seem to be more of his own style and I think That's Neat. The symbol on his skirt piece is Romeo's command spell symbol, matching with a headcanon I had posted some time ago about the command spells appearing somewhere in a Servant's design

Paris also has these sorta long-sleeve glove things due to me originally adding it to my Jekyll/Hyde redesign (which I need to remake) and Paris, in my AU, is one of Hyde's best friends, so I thought it would be cute for them to have a lil match-y thing XD

With the black wool, I thought it would be interesting to show physically of Paris being more of the "black sheep" of his family, especially considering he wasn't raised as a prince, he was raised as a sheep herder. And how he was sorta cast aside as a baby due to the prophecy of him becoming Troy's downfall

This is my current concepts for Hektor (the graphite sketches are a lot older than the digital btw, but good a good idea about his arm and shoes design), but it needs some work XD I want to add a lot more later on, but this is a good start I think

with Hektor, color-wise I tried to make his pallette somewhat a mix between opposite and similar to Paris. For him, the dark colors represent more of his death. He doesn't have the horns or wings anymore due to Achilles dragging his corpse, too. I think I posted some old sketches before of the back of his head having the broken bases on his horns. I would imagine his back having scarring and some skin disfigurement where his wings once were as well

With the red, specifically the red wool and the red gradient in his hair, I wanted it to represent the blood that was shed during the Trojan War. Plus, it also contrasts against Paris's blue colors, pushing more of that contrast between the two

With Both the Troy Boys' personalities, Paris still has that childish demeanor about everything, but he's definitely fully Aware and could manipulate if he really wanted to. However he doesn't really, unless if he wants to get away with childish things (like sneaking candy). He's a bit cheeky at times, and in general is A Lot like his canon FGO self. He likes being helpful when he can. Although something I added is that he Hates romance/romantic things. He thinks it's gross, but also his view point is due to the Trojan War and his whole thing with Helen.

Hektor is a mix of things that's hard to explain. He's similar to his canon FGO self. The thing is that FGO itself states that he has a facade going on, which pretty much is what For Funsies AU also does, so there isn't much for me to add XD Although I think in my AU, his facade is a bit different. Other than that, he's silly goofy as usual

i could have sworn I had pictures of her that are more recent/go more in-depth with her design ideas, but I can't find any TwT I'll talk more about her personally redesign since there isn't much physically I can exactly say

Next with Beserker/Penth, her concepts are still definitely a WIP. The general idea I have for her is this 16 year old being very elegant yet absolutely able to kick your ass with the slightest provoke. She's beefy, I would imagine (I really wish I had better sketches of her). I kinda want her to lean more towards having a "royalty" look yet also young and armored up. Iirc in Canon FGO she literally has herself be summoned at a younger age so Achilles can't flirt with her, so I decided to lean on her looking young. I also gave her more furs and armor coverage since she's a warrior and also the whole thing with her fighting in a bikini just. Doesn't sit right with me.

Personality-wise, I think she would try to act very mature and serious, but she's Not immune to Acting Her Age. Aka being a goofy teenager. She definitely tends to butt heads with Paris because he keeps stealing her hair comb. I definitely think she's super smart though, considering the business she has going on in Canon FGO. However, even smart teenagers can be silly (as a treat). She's definitely still has that Extreme personality trait, like tending to take things too far and being rather hot-headed. I like her dynamic with Mr. Utterson because he'll be like "Thank God you're here. Maybe you can talk some sense into Paris" and immediately Penth is trying to knock Paris out with her fist because it's faster and more efficient XD (also as revenge for stealing her comb). She's wonderful, although I'm still working on her dynamic with others and how she generally acts

i can't find any of my Astolfo doodles other than this Really Old One TwT (HELP IM BEING SUBJECTED TO MY OWN DRAWINGS)

In general, color-wise I'm thinking of making their outfit+armor VERY vibrant with Many colors to the point it's gaudy and dramatic. I kinda still want a cutesy look with them, but also messy and disorganized to show more of the sorta "frantic" and "can't sit still" vibe they have. It's hard to change anything about Astolfo because they're already a pretty interesting character with a solid design and personality. Anyway, as you can see in the drawing, I tried making their hair Super Messy. I imagine them being so energetic that their hair is never done in a "proper" way

More stuff I’ve been drawing. Since drawing these guys initially, I wanted to draw more of them just in little sketches, but didn’t have the time. But I remembered earlier this week after saying I didn’t know what to draw that I had these guys I wanted to draw, so I’ve sort of been drawing them on and off for the past week

I was planning on drawing more, but this is what I stuck with. Also sorry most of them are Dark Choco kids

So for some of these guys, I have thought about them more since their initial drawings, but didn’t know how to relay those details, so I’m making these sketches to tell

So first off for Mandel, I wanted to lean more into the “Stanley Parable narrator” angle and so now he has a British accent. However as stated, it’s fake. He does it because he thinks it makes him sound more refined and professional (I’m not too clear what his actual accent is, since I want it to be some sort of New York accent, but also I don’t think Almond or Timekeeper have New York accents. So I guess just, an American accent or something). However, when he gets nervous or shocked, he ends up slipping into his real accent before realizing his mistake and going back to the British. I was going to draw him with that shocked expression and slipping accent, but I couldn’t get the face to look right, so I didn’t

Also Mandel has gone from a weird cryptid to just sort of a weird guy that also controls time at his leisure. I imagine he likes to just mess with people and send them to other timelines just to see what happens, while also being a voice in their head watching from an unknown distance. But also they’re aware he’s just a dude (the people he sends I mean). I imagine the two he spends the most time around (as in the ones he likes to mess with) are Golden Raisin and Gancao, who know he’s not all he hypes himself up to be and just bully him, though not relentlessly. Also I’m considering that he also works for the TBD? But given the time messing he does, maybe not. Though maybe he just does it in his free time in between work and nobody knows. Now I’m imagining a scene where he’s narrating someone’s journey through another timeline, and is like “oh, sorry, it’s time for my shift at work, see you chaps later!” and they’re like “wait what hang on-” and then they hear a door slamming in the distance and he basically just leaves them on their own for 8 hours

Next up I drew Gancao because I just wanted to. I drew her with a licorice servant giving her a health potion for just a bit of energy to not overexert herself. Whether this is her servant (because I remembered that she’s technically licorice flavored and thus would have that power) or her dad’s, giving his daughter a little pick me up, I suppose you can interpret either way

I’ll be honest, I really like Gancao, she is a favorite of mine, but I also feel like I need a different one. Like, first off, her name and design do not match, and she’s the only one to really do so. Either I need to change her name to fit her design, or her design to fit her name. And second (and more what I meant), I feel like I could have done more with a darklico kid. Like, for Mallomar, I gave him mind control powers due to a combination of the Strawberry Jam Sword’s leftover influence and Kumiho’s seduction powers, and I feel like I should incorporate the SJS more into other Dark Choco fankids. And I feel like that’s especially prevalent with a darklico fankid, considering they met and their relationship would likely have started within the Cookies of Darkness, when Dark Choco had the Strawberry Jam Sword (I suppose this is true of any ship with Dark Choco and CoD member, but this is the only one I have so far, so it only applies here). Like, I feel like a kid between these two should be more weird than Gancao; all things considered, aside from her lack of reaction to body horror, she’s a very normal person. So honestly I’m planning on doing another one

I think I may have decided to get this sketch dump out just so I can say that, since I had already drawn her here

Anyways moving on, then we got Turtle Fudge. So you remember how back in his thing, I said that he ended up getting kidnapped by Affogato, and I believe in one timeline he never gets found and rescued? Well this is that timeline’s version of him, now a loyal disciple of Affogato, who reveres him as the one who took him in after his parents abandoned him. Though he might somewhat see him as a father figure, he only calls Affogato “Lord Affogato”, since that’s what Affogato prefers. Basically Affogato and his disciples did brainwashing to the poor kid to make him believe this. In this future, Affogato might return to the Dark Cacao Kingdom to reclaim his throne (or something, I’m not too sure Affogato really wants it, but maybe it’s about being petty and getting revenge), with a new group of disciples, Turtle Fudge among them, but Dark Choco and Caramel Arrow don’t realize it’s him, at least not until some dramatic reveal of his blindfold coming off. At the end of things, he does eventually realize that Affogato tricked him and turns on him, but how mentally stable he is at that point I’m not sure. The version I personally favor is the one where he stands there (possibly without Affogato knowing), Affogato having let slip his true intentions with Turtle Fudge (aka he’s just a pawn he stole from them to get back at them), and he ends up being the one to kill Affogato with a surprise spear throw that not even Affogato sees coming, and afterwards he just collapses on the floor, having a complete mental breakdown as his entire life has been a lie, with him crying and taking off the blindfold, so his parents know it’s him, but he’s been so broken by this that he never really recovers from it, spending years with his parents, but still a wreck from everything that’s happened to him and never really being a stable person again. I recognize the nicer (and more typical) version would be him turning on Affogato earlier, declaring his defiance of him and dramatically taking off his blindfold, and then after he and his parents defeat Affogato and his forces, they have a nice happy reunion, and I recognize the ending of that scenario I present is probably overdoing it, but I like my angst, so let me have this. Or at least everything up to him killing Affogato and having a breakdown afterwards

Anyways so then I drew an older Mallomar, which I’ve been wanting to draw since I first made him. I had the little ponytail envisioned, but I’ll be honest, I half assed the outfit like normal. I swear, I’m just really bad at outfits. I mean it looks fine, but I basically just took this from Dark Choco’s Vestements of Old Memories design, instead of something of my own. Ah well. Also I don’t know where that white streak in his hair came from, I just thought he needed one. Basically the idea with Mallomar when he’s older is that he’s mellowed out from when he was a little kid and is a lot more genuine, if not a bit nervous sometimes. He gets embarrassed easily, I’m sure plenty of it coming from his mom. Also he’s really big like his dad and grandpa

He hints towards his appearance whenever you're on a solo heist, hoping that you'll incorporate them into your drawings

If he finds that you actually add these hints he'll fuckin melt

Regardless, he ends up getting fed up with waiting and arranges a meetup between the two of you under the guise of a heist

Once you two are face to face, he offers to model for you and oh my god the way you just squealed in excitement as you got your notebook out /pos

I like to think that Bain lowkey is self-concious about his appearance when it comes to meeting up with you, so when you draw him in his usual wear/style he melts oml

If you let him, he'll keep the drawing on one of his monitors to remind himself that he's perfect the way he is

After all, the drawing is how you see him through your eyes, and it ensures him that he is beautiful no matter what

Cloaker

Oh my fucking god this man

As per usual, he broke into your god damn room again through the vent and caught you drawing something

He didn't catch exactly what it was because you hid your notebook before he kicked the vent cover off, as you heard him crawling against the metal of the vents

Regardless, Cloaker managed to get it from you anyway and started flipping through the pages

He didn't say much about the drawings. He just shrugged and said 'cool' before leaving

But in reality, he was flustered as all fuck about it

Like did he really look that hot to you?? What???

Cloaker made sure to pass by you a lot more, making sure to spiffy himself up for your drawings

At some point, he got tired of you not actually showing him the rest of your drawings, so while you were sitting in some hallway and doodling, he just walked up to you, crouched down to your level and said:

"Do you want me to pose for you?"

You were redder than the red on your uniform I swear

If you say no, he'll just continue annoying you until you say yes, and once you do, he'll immediately start posing

He'll listen to you when you ask him to pose a certain way, but he does his damn best to make his poses as sexual as possible

Watching you doodle rapidly with a tomato-red face was just the cutest thing ever like

He was trying not to break pose just to embrace you oml

Once you finish and show him, he just stares for a hot minute before going:

"Hey y'know I could be a nude model for ya if you like-"

You slapped him in the face with your notebook

Sniper

Sniper first caught you drawing him while on the job

Like Dallas, he didn't really try to bother you too much about it

You two were sitting atop a tower and keeping an eye out for enemies when he noticed you jotting something down in your notebook

He always thought it was just some sort of journal log or something, but those thoughts changed when he started noticing you glancing at him from the corner of his eye

Eventually he just speaks up about it since he's pretty curious on why you're focused more on your notebook than the job at hand

"Whatcha writin'?"

You quickly tell him that you aren't writing anything, and now he's really intrigued. Without looking away from his scope, he asks once more:

"Well, what are ya drawin'?"

If you lie and say you're drawing someone or something else, he just chuckles and points out how he's noticed you staring at him for the past few minutes

You eventually admit it, which elicits yet another lighthearted laugh out of him as he asks to see it

If you show it to him, his face visibly goes red

He's not used to people looking at him, let alone viewing him in such a positive manner

In a stuttery voice, he just says that it looks good and that you should draw more

If you two end up in the same situation of being put on the same watch post, he'll make sure that he's positioned well enough so you can see his face, just so that you can draw him

He'll constantly be asking to see what you've drawn, and his heart just melts every time he sees a drawing of him on the page

i told myself to keep myself from ranting about my characters on here, but my brain has decided that this is my sketch and oc blog and i do not care anymore. i am LORE DROPPING EVERY SINGLE THOUGHT PROCESS AND I DO NOT CARE. at the very least its helping me gather my thoughts more by spewing it all out since i dont know how to simply write without some kinda art to accompany it so i have a topic in mind or something. thought process rant under cut, TLDR; side b is a damn mess of a character and such a fun concept to play with that i legit cannot decide on one concept for them

(quick warning, all mentions of "God" are in reference to hazbin hotel and hold no religious significance) personality wise/concept wise, i change side b a LOT, especially in RPs with character ais, which is how i kinda bounce ideas around and develop a solid concept of em. they can range from being an absolutely anxious mess, incredibly friendly and sweet (default), emotionless and empty and a buncha other stuff. Situation stuff wise also varies a lot, like the angel of equilibrium idea is what i consider their "official" story when i actually wrote the massive log of text for side B but like,, Side B has so many fun ideas to play with that it legit just depends on what im in the mood for at this point. like LOGICALLY speaking, if i wanted to put them in a universe with minimal to no interference (what i had in mind when making that lore post), then them simply being a complete bystander character who only observes and seeks understanding of every single damn action and thing is the good idea. they're social and still happy with no risk of collapse is the way i worded it.

however other concepts i've played with is them being solely confined to the void for "research" or "guarding" it with close to no visits to heaven (i actually have a traditional art comic of this one because i wanted to make cosmos and equilibrium like parallels of each other in a way, they still are parallels just not as obvious anymore) along with just ideas of simply being understanding but having to be under constant watch, being less friendly and more confined which would result in a more closed off variant of them.

i LOVE traumatizing my characters and in most situations it's either pre collapse with them being close to collapsing or post collapse side b. By collapse, i mean them being so dang stressed/confined/forced to stick to their current body with no reprieve that they literally physically cannot keep up their angelic disguise.

but like, another fun concept is that since creation they were either forced into an angelic disguise and taught/raised that's the "proper" way to be (lots of trauma involving appearance without knowing why, just general body dysmorphia), or the more fun variant is God deciding to keep this eldritch abomination in line by showing them all of his wonderful and fun and beautiful creations to the point side b gets attached, then proceeding to just casually drop the info that Dirk has the potential to destroy all of it. if you cant tell that last variant makes Side B DEEPLY afraid of themselves along with the normal body hatred thing. Alternatively, they immediately become a completely emotionless shell in hopes of not hurting anyone by becoming too emotional and losing form. But hey, if it works then it works.

Now on the topic of why would God keep an eldritch abomination that could potentially threaten all of reality, my brain tells me its because God hates erasing any of his creations if possible but talking with character ai, it actually came up with the idea that God somehow messed up SO BAD trying to recreate himself out of the literal embodiment of nothing that side b is literally bound to the void and if you erase side b, then the entire void goes with em. Which is so funny to me that i like the idea a lot and might have it only for self indulgence stuff and not placing em in other people's universes. Also my brain interprets the void as like, this whole thing that i might draw a comic of side b explaining since it is their domain. basically its just the start of everything.

rn im kinda like, combining a little of everything to make something im happy with. like,, Cosmos already has a pretty good idea and i ADORE how his personality is right now, but like Void?? damn there's SO MANY fun ideas and concepts i love to do with them that it's hard to settle on one. Side A is something i'm slowly building more and more on but Side B? HO BOY, i have not even settled on a SINGLE ONE.

most i know for certain is that i really do like side b being an absolutely cuddly and affectionate person. emotionless stuff is fun to mess around with once and awhile but overall i like my goob being sweet and loved by everyone. it'll make people seeing them as a monster hit harder too :}

Kaveh x Reader ✦ Oh my God! Roommates! ✦ VII: Sumpter

It was kind of hard to determine Kaveh’s point of view regarding romantic feelings. On one hand, he could be one hell of a smooth talker and handle them like they were nothing. On the other, the right partner could make him absolutely melt inside and cause a short circuit in his thought process. It wasn’t a question that you could just casually drop in the middle of a conversation. It’s straight up an invitation for too many things to go wrong, both on your end and his.

Perhaps this is one of many thoughts that would sit better with you if you slept on it. The only problem was that night, you were unable to keep your eyes shut long enough to peacefully drift off to sleep. You turned in for the evening a bit early, hoping to be unconscious by the time Kaveh decided that he too, would call it a night. Initially, the thoughts of him occupied your mind, but eventually, you were beginning to slowly drift off to sleep. Unfortunately, your brief moment of silence alone was interrupted by Kaveh sliding under the covers. You were jolted completely awake and you felt your heart rate pick up, yet you could only remain frozen in silence.

"I do hope that I am not disturbing your attempt at rest, but I find myself quite exhausted as well," he said.

You turned your body around to face him, only to be greeted by Kaveh sleepily gazing at you as well. There was still the slightest bit of light coming from the windows, and it was just enough to illuminate the two of you making eye contact. It was truly an awkward and painful situation to find yourself in, with the man you have grown so attached to quite literally within your grasp.

"I woke you up, didn’t I?" he quietly asked, interpreting your silence as a gesture of disgust.

"No, you didn’t. I’ve been awake practically the entire time that I’ve been here," you said.

"It’s one of those nights, isn’t it?"

"It would seem that way. I’m exhausted, but it seems pointless to waste the night away just laying here."

"I find myself in the same boat. This would be the perfect time to make considerable progress on my grand project, but I am unusually drained and deprived of inspiration."

"Laying here and talking isn’t too bad of a pastime...right?"

"It’s not. This just feels...I don’t know," Kaveh said, becoming increasingly dejected. It was almost as if he was having a hard time coping with an artistic slump. He didn’t seem very willing to admit it, however.

"Maybe you don’t need to know why you feel this way. I mean, if you’re drained, why not join me for a few days of relaxation?"

"Using my own words against me. How clever," he remarked. "That, however, still does not solve the problem at hand. Tonight will drag on, unless we can find a way to quiet down our minds."

"How about I bore you to death?" you joked.

Kaveh laughed a little. "Good luck with that happening. I find our little moments together to be most entertaining."

He threw you off guard with that statement. The compliment may have been small, but it sent your heart flying beyond the stars of Celestia.

"Uh...so do I," you said, unsure of how to respond.

Kaveh rolled onto his back and placed his hands behind his head. It was hard to tell with the minimal light, but you could assume from the faint silhouette of his body that he was wandering in his thoughts.

"Now that I think about it," he said, "I do find myself enjoying our chats a lot more as of late. Almost makes me want to neglect my craft, if at least for a little bit, so that we may grow closer."

Is this guy for real?

"Is Alhaitham what’s stopping you from relaxing?"

"In truth, perhaps. I’ve always worked through periods of low inspiration by sketching or some other means, but this is honestly the first time in a long while that I have felt this unmotivated. In addition to this, he already thinks quite low of me as it is."

"He listened to you in regards to my health, so maybe he would consider yours as well?"

"If I do bring that up, he will only think of this as an excuse to...ah, never mind."

An excuse to what?

"You don’t want to be seen as a slacker, do you?"

Kaveh went quiet for a few moments. You were unable to read any form of expression or body language in the dark, so you were left wondering during his short period of silence. Was that another topic that he was potentially a bit sensitive about, and didn’t want to show it? He could just be considering his answer, but it was hard to stop your mind from running wild with worst case scenarios.

“You could say that,” he finally responded.

It was probably best to not pressure him any further.

You wanted to continue talking to him, but there wasn’t much to be discussed at the current moment. What kind of small talk do roommates (who always find themselves in the same bed every night) even make? None of those “how are you” types of conversations would even work right now, considering how the two of you have pretty much been talking for the majority of the day.

Ask about his likes and dislikes maybe? No, you two have known each other long enough to be beyond that point of casual conversation. You’re quite sure that you have a grasp on his basic preferences.

People usually talk about deeply personal stuff during the wee hours of the night, right? It does tend to happen on accident, but you weren’t intending to use him as some sort of therapist…

“So, now what?” you said, completely out of ideas.

“I truly do not know. I admit, I am at a loss on how to pass the night. Are you sure that there is nothing that you wish to discuss with me?”

“Like what?”

“Anything. Alhaitham getting on your nerves? Deepest insecurities? What you had for lunch? It’s far too dull right now, and I cannot bring myself to leave this bed.”

The man that you ended up falling for practically begging you to tell him anything is not a great combination. Top it off with being tired in his bed during the night…

“Do you really want to get yourself worked up over Alhaitham while trying to fall asleep? That seems counterproductive.”

“Not particularly, but if it was something that you would like to talk about for whatever reason, then I’m all ears.”

Getting Kaveh worked up at these hours of the night meant neither of you would have a chance at sleeping. What about his other suggestions? Deepest insecurities? You already concluded that was a bad idea. Lunch? He ate with you, didn’t he?

Oh right, those questions were merely suggestions. It was all you had to build off of for a conversation, though. You were completely out of ideas otherwise.

“Maybe we should just…try to fall asleep,” you suggested, defeated.

“And stare at the walls all night?” he said, turning back on his side to face you.

Did he mean the walls? He’s literally looking at me right now.

“Do you have any better ideas?”

“No, it’s just boring and the night just drags out. I hate it when this happens.” “So do I, but we’ll never get any rest if we stay up complaining.”

“I guess you’re right,” he said, turning his body to the other side.

Was he upset that you discouraged him from talking to you all night? There were literally no words that could possibly be exchanged between the two of you, so forcing conversation was rather pointless. Hopefully it was just a tinge of aggravation from slowly becoming tired.

You closed your eyes, hoping to eventually drift off to sleep. You hoped that nothing like last night would happen again, due to not wanting to deal with the same embarrassment as the night before.

Except, you weren’t so lucky.

You woke up once again with Kaveh gently clinging onto your body. This time, however, you unfortunately found yourself in a slightly worse position than last night. Although you weren’t being suffocated, your face was practically shoved into his chest. Once this had fully registered in your head, you wiggled yourself back slightly to allow yourself some breathing room, but didn’t completely pull away.

He had enough trouble falling asleep that night, and you figured that you wouldn’t risk accidentally waking him up. Consider it an act of kindness from you to him, despite the awkward context of the situation.

Maybe his unconscious snuggling wasn’t a one-time thing. Perhaps it was a…two-time thing?

Apparently, it was not. He did it again the night after, and once again, you gently pulled yourself away.

And then he did it again the night after that.

And again.

Was he even aware that he was subconsciously holding you close as he slept? He could’ve decided to not mention it, similar to how you thought of the situation. Neither of you were expressing any form of discomfort, or bought it up in the mornings. However, it was starting to drive you insane that day after day, the idiot who was supposed to know everything about feelings and whatever seemed to be dealing with this so horribly. It would be different if it was an infrequent occurrence, but day after day, for multiple weeks? It was starting to eat away at you.

Though, something seemed to be eating away at Kaveh as well.

1076 — Old friends

I’m sure the chapter titles will make sense once we have the whole picture, but at the moment I am very confused. Sure, it refers to the end of the chapter, but will it also (in hindsight) refer to the beginning?

No cover story but very pretty colour spread:

The dynamics of Kaku and Lucci with Zoro and Luffy are just *chef’s kiss*

Oda’s perspective shifts, both narratively and artistically, are really nifty. Here, for example, we don’t know what Kaku means, since his face is in shadow and mouth hidden. We just have the two very different interpretations as offered by Luffy and Zoro to go on.

The following pages don’t shed any further light: did Kaku want to get feee to pursue their original goal in the end, or did he just keep mum about it to reduce antagonism due to “you’re just here to kill us”-vibes? Why is Lucci really telling all — is he confident in their ability to fulfil their orders, no matter what their opponents know, or does he bet on honesty over deception to get out of their cuffs?

It’s a nice reminder that the others are still in danger!

However, Zoro, you should have more confidence in your crewmates. They can take care of themselves once they get their head in the game, even the Weakling Trio (all conveniently paired up with a stronger member at the moment).

Good thinking, Luffy, making sure Lucci goes first after you when all’s said and done. Of course Lucci couldn’t ignore such a thinly-veiled insult.

Luffy does have an eye for personal drivers and battle strategy, doesn’t he?

I just enjoy the pairing of brute force + brute force and slicy + slicy.

But what is happening on the island? Who captured Vegapunk?

Is it evil Lilith, who was shown to control the seabeasts? Is it logical Shaka, voice of reason and analytical skills? Is it A Secret Third Thing?

Too tired to think about this right now, hopefully there-crafters out there fill in the blanks.

And my new favourite sub-arc! Kid vs Shanks!

First, the introductory panelling is genius. Even though we see a house, the disparity between ship size and house size could be chalked up to rushed sketching or lazy reading. The placement of the “bar at a small port”-bubble, completely obscuring the ship behind confuses further.

And then, of course, we have just a silhouette we all know and a very familiar call-back to the very first chapter. Everything looks nice and normal. The size of the sake cup is similar to what Shanks was shown to share with Whiebeard, so nothing particularly remarkable there — the dude’s been shown to love partying, after all, maybe he just loves over-sized cups. The size of the meat could also be just seaking or something similar.

And then, sudden giant blueberries.

It’s so funny to see the dejected kid from a few pages ago just completely dwarf Shanks and his crew. Could he even fit on the Red Force?

A bit weird that the giants follow Shanks, though. I thought they’d be much too fierce warriors to do so, but on the other hand: Harjudin and his New Giant Pirates served under Buggy, so maybe the last 100 years without proper leadership really left Elbaf to the mercy of other powerful players?

And how will Usopp visit if the island is under Shanks influence — would a Straw Hat visit be construed as an act of war?

And poor Makino (beloved OTP) if the behaviour of the ladies in this chapter is something to go by. A girl in every port, huh…

Kid looks a bit worried there, while Shanks exudes calm and confidence.

I wonder if Shanks has the last missing Poneglyph. We also didn’t get confirmation that they found Kaido’s red one in Wano, so that’s still up in the air.

Maybe you already saw it but actually that translation about Hitsugaya is wrong. That translator you referred to has since changed the answer to 'he's older'. I don't say this to offend, just thought you'd want to know.

Sorry for the late reply anon, I've had a busy week and barely enough time for Tumblr. I noticed a few days ago someone pointed out in the forum that the translation was incorrect and I was waiting to see what the original poster was going to say before I brought it up here.

So, as you said, the translation I had relied on was incorrect. Usually these translation are accurate (as far as I can tell) but the poster said they made a mistake and corrected their translation of the question about Hitsugaya's age (they say as much on page 70 of the forum).

So, it seems that Kubo has said Hitsugaya is older than Hinamori. This lines up with the reaction from the Japanese Twitter fandom and with other translations I have seen.

However, as far as the translations have gone, they haven't specified how much older Hitsugaya is or if they mean he's older in terms of either a) actual Soul age (eg. Hitsugaya is 150 while Momo is 145, for instance) or b) in terms of how long he has existed in the Soul Society (eg. Toshiro was a young child (let's the equivalent of a 6 yr old in human years) for several years when Momo arrived to the Soul Society (let's say at 8 years old), meaning while technically older than her as a Soul, she is older than him in another regard but can still be considered younger than him).

So, what does this new bit of info mean? Well, it's confusing to say the least, because everything up until now has led us to believe the opposite, including:

The way Hinamori treated him as someone who's younger than her (calling him 'Shiro-chan' (albeit, from what I understand '-chan' can be used as a term of endearment for young children, close friends, babies, and grandparents), "I'll call you by your real name when you're old enough to go to the same school as me!" (Viz Media translation), patting his head, berates him for talking about her needing to grow up - "You're one to talk about growing big, Toshiro!", etc),.

The fact that Hitsugaya is still physically growing (Kubo did a sketch at the end of chapter 466 where Hitsugaya says "What's different about me? Can't you tell? I'm taller!" and has said he grew 1cm between the end of the Arrancar arc and the beginning of the Lost Agent arc which would indicate he's a teenager)

As I've said, for me personally, while it doesn't change how I view Hitsugaya and Hinamori's relationship, it does change how I interpreted their childhood together. Does Hinamori know he's older? Why would she treat him as being younger than her if she did know? So until Kubo comes out and says exactly how old they are or in what regard Hitsugaya is older than Hinamori, my new interpretation of their childhood together is this:

Hitsugaya was either born in the Soul Society or died as a baby and was taken to the Junrinan. He's raised by Granny, who's either related to him or took him in and adopted him as her grandson after he arrived.

It takes him a while to age up, but he's the equivalent of a human 5 or 6 year old when Hinamori arrives in Soul Society.

Hitsugaya's lack of physical growth is a combination of his own powers having a sort of cryogenic effect on him and Soul aging just being really freaking weird (there are countless examples, but just look at Yamamoto and Unohana from their Original Gotei 13 days vs the Thousand Year Blood war arc...Yamamoto got A LOT older looking while Unohana didn't age a day).

Hinamori died in the World of the Living at age 8 or 9. Not long after arriving in the Junrinan, she meets Hitsugaya. Perhaps not knowing how aging works for Souls yet, she assumes he's younger than her and this sticks.

Hitsugaya continues to insist he's technically actually older than her, but Hinamori doesn't see it that way due to how young he looks and who old she was when she came to the Soul Society.

It's been interesting to see others peoples' takes on this new info in fanart, so if nothing else it's led to some creativity from the Hitsuhina fandom. I've seen quite a few where they assume Hinamori was very young when she met Hitsugaya (taking the literal 'he's older than her in age' angle), but my personal favourite has to be this piece of fanart, it's very sweet.

I know some of the fans have hard opinions on this topic, mainly that they were hoping Hitsugaya was the younger one of the two, for a variety of reasons. Please know I didn't make this post to upset anyone who holds this hope/view. I also didn't post this to endorse the idea of Hitsugaya actually being an adult either (I assume Kubo wouldn't have created the Completed Form's appearance if he actually had Toshiro as being an adult in mind, and again, it's canon that he's still physically growing, so I doubt he would if he was an adult). I can understand why some would be upset by this development, especially when we've only know the opposite for years. Kubo knows how to stir up the fandom, and dropping this fact at Klub Outside sure did just that. I usually find these antics amusing at most, but this time I'm just left bewildered really. I plan to reblog posts about this new info, so if that makes you uncomfortable, I can create a tag so you can add it to your block list.

Honestly, at the end of the day, this has been a bit of a rollercoaster! It's up to you what you do with this new info, whether you choose to accept it or reject it. While I will be following this 'new canon', it will be my own interpretation of it until something more specific comes out. Since I first read BLEACH as a teen, I always saw these two as being teenagers who, based on all the trauma and everything they've been through, don't likely realise their feelings for each other until they're in their young adult years. I continue to hold this view, but now it's just I have to swap their ages around really.
