Silly shenanigans because I listened to monster by skillet again. Au of an au, if you will. Probably will not return to this version of the character much. He would call himself something cringe like "your demise" or some shit idk I guess Demise could be a cringe enough edgy ass name for this thing I struggle to call a character or whatever.

I would say the correct way to put it would be to say that Sonic doesn't fit into the standard of mainstream furry media simply due to the rubber hose art style. When you say mainstream furry media you think of something like zootopia (which has a lot of furry appeal) or any other disney/pixar stuff with animals (which have humanoid look to them and, again, giving them furry appeal) and this very tunnelvision type of thinking makes people simply overlook the fact that yea, Sonic is an anthropomorphic hedgehog. A furry. Furries are humanoid or human-like in some way. You describe a sth character without saying it's a sth character and people will agree that it's a furry.

BUT another reason why some people may argue why Sonic isn't furry content might also be that people are just bitter lol. A lot of people grew up with Sonic and might also hate furries and it's just this "b-b-b-but! I hate furries! I can't be a furry if I like Sonic!". A very common argument honestly. I remember having an argument long ago about "well pokemon isn't an anime so you watching pokemon anime doesn't count as watching anime" or something. The "well it doesn't fit the definition perfectly so it's not that" type of thinking.

Like, this is a very typical argument with "I like X so it can't be Y because I'm not Y" but like, dude, it's not that deep.

Furry hate is overdone and stupid. Unless it's something severely problematic or illegal you are allowed to like the things you like. Be cringe, be free.

im gonna make a hot take here: sonic is furry content. theyre furries. theyre anthropomorphic animals, the very definition of furry. now listen tho, u Do Not have to be a furry to enjoy sonic stuff, much like other furry media, but to deny that sonic is furry is silly to me bc thats literally a talking blue hedgehog. do u know how many talking blue wolf fursonas ive seen in my time

like idk i see ppl make so many excuses as to why sonic isnt furry but like. he is. LOL. theres stylistic differences between sonic furry and "standard" furry but hes still furry. u feel me. just bc hes a different flavor doesnt mean he aint furry. AND THATS OKAY !!!! its not a bad thing to like furry stuff even if ur not a furry urself. its just being a fan of something that HAPPENS to be furry. ppl are fans of warrior cats and arent furries. theres fans of TLK and other animal-centric media and arent furries. u can be a sonic fan and not a furry

but pls dont act like sonic isnt furry just bc u urself dont identify as one <:P bc furry isnt inherently bad or gross and u shouldnt be embarrassed just like furries shouldnt be embarrassed either ok. im holding ur hand. lets unlearn shame together

WELL WELL WELL LET ME ASK SOME QUESTIONS

I'm a huge fan of worldbuilding in the Sonic franchise and in my AU i've gone lengths to try and organize the world according to things introduced in canon.

I'm curious: How do you go about writing the world around your AU characters? Is it closer to the canon world, closer to a fantasy world, or perhaps closer to real life? DUDEEEE I NEED THE LOREEEE?? The chaos emeralds? God-like beings? Other dimensions and worlds??? HOW DO YOU GO ABOUT WORLD BUILDING???

...how about a magic system. If entire world building is too much, then I shall ask if you have a magic system for the characters? Considering how many characters have many superpowers.

WELL I would say that there are some minor and MAJOR lore differences but the au is fairly close to the og events and worlds but being fit a bit better into a realistic scenario + me mixing a ton of my headcanons into this.

Some lore differences that come to mind:

-A lot of characters have an established living place (Blaze lives in the Sol Empire castle, Silver living in his small apartment outside of the Sol Empire, Shadow and Rouge being roommates, Amy living in her apartment, Tails living in his workshop, Sonic being homeless still lol you get the idea)

-Some characters have their powers changed or were gives supernatural powers (example: Rouge has a big collection of magical artifacts, but usually she uses one that gives her shadow bat wings)

-Silver and Blaze are both from the future, Sol empire existing in the future and Sol Emeralds being transformed Chaos Emeralds.

-Dadow is also canon for this au lol. He is Silver's adoptive father.

-Some characters have different names or have now real names (Tails being called Miles now, Shadow having his real name as Victor Robotnik, Sonic having his real name as Nicholas Maurice Hedger, Rouge not being her real name either but she ain't telling her real name lol).

Magic system is kinda basic I would say and can be broken down in categories. Either natural powers that user has without any other artifacts involved (Silver, Blaze), enhanced physical abilities (Knuckles, Sonic, Amy), special artifacts/inventions (Rouge, Miles), chaos energy (Shadow mainly operates on it but also has some alien black arms abilities). Chaos energy can be a power source for machinery but there are some other misc power sources such as Metal Sonic running on orgone engine.
