"La Grande Guerre de Kalos"
Get ready to see "La Grande Guerre du futur de Kalos" when it releases both in theaters and on streaming services on September 17th!
"After a disaster strikes Kalos, one man loses hope in humanity. Can a group of trainers save humanity from the man's wrath, or will the world be cleansed of humanity's 'filth'?"
I absolutely loved taking part in this film, and I hope you all enjoy the wonderful work put into this movie by the special staff hired exclusively for this film!
It's a tale that, to put it simply, cannot be described in a few words. It tells a tale of both fiction and reality, one that you would not even know existed in real life had you not been involved in the network of lies and discreet secrets holding the underworld of Kalos together. It also shows how everyone can help make the world a better place, so long as you try and put forth the care towards others.
Also, due to specific strikes ongoing in the modern day film industry, I personally hired every employee here and had paid them with the money I have saved up throughout my lifetime, to ensure a proper filmmaking process without any trouble for any employees. I do not support the misconduct in the proper film industry, and thus we ensured this film did not support any of those horrid actions in any way. Honestly quite sad that this had to be specified...

headcanon; FINALLY, I HAVE RETURNED TO MY FULL POWER! A WORLDBUILDING HEADCANON! I AM INVINCIBLE.
We are going to talk about Kalos, Galar, and Paldea, and the colonization of Isshu (now Unova. We’re going to call it Isshu until it officially becomes Unova. Get used to this). Yes, a very fun subject. Let’s review from the beginning:
Kalos, 3,000 years ago, did a war and fired off an immortality nuke. We know from some dialogue in XY that this war was with their neighboring region. Naturally, plenty of other people have theorized that this neighboring region was Paldea, because, y’know. Spain and France are, indeed, neighbors. (IIRC this has not been explicitly confirmed anywhere in the game, but c’mon. We all know it.) I am going forward assuming that particular theory is true. Or at least we’ll pretend it is even if it ends up disproven.
Anyway, following this war, Kalos had suffered major losses and was pretty strapped for cash. Their king did kill, like, a very large portion of their own army with that magic immortality nuke. Not great. So Kalos sought to gain some money elsewhere.
Now, Isshu, at this time, was thriving. They were also extremely isolationist. They had limited scattered trade with some other regions, including Kalos, but otherwise did not really interact with the rest of the world at large. Y’know how elves be in most fantasy literature? Yeah, Isshu were elf-y. Magical as shit (and by magical I mean they just had some dope-ass technology enabled by pokemon world bullshit, there’s a headcanon for that) with a very strong sense of culture and, traditionally, not wanting to share it with the rest of the world lest they fuck it right up. Anyway, due to their physical isolation from most other major regions at the time, and other Ideological Stuff(TM), Isshu had no standing army. Meaning it was super, duper easy for Kalos to Do A Colonialism.
However, Kalos being the french, and also kind of dealing with the repercussions of their fucking previous king nuking their entire army, they, uh, they had some other shit pop up soon thereafter. So while Kalos had staked a claim and established colonies in Isshu, they would end up drawing out considerably as time went on. Leaving it as open season on the very vulnerable and still quite resource rich Isshu. So the other big empires, Galar and Paldea, decide to move in!
Time went on, and because Galar and Kalos are England and France, and they’re in the same place together, you know they’re gonna start fighting. There’s some hundred years war stuff going on that will, by Adair’s time, start to spill over into Isshu, and they begin feuding over control of Isshu in a proxy war.
(Paldea, at this point, has a relatively small claim in Isshu, so they’re honestly mostly just fucking around and doing a piracy on the other guys, cause fuck ‘em. But if anyone asks, it’s definitely pirates and NOT privateers. The government super isn’t paying these guys to fuck with you, we promise.)
Anyway, one of the major details here that would end up spurring the revolution was that, as a colonized nation, the people of Isshu were expected to act as citizens of whatever kingdom decided they were in charge today without reaping literally any of the benefits and in some cases just flat-out being treated like garbage. This included things like forced conscription into their respective armies, providing supplies and shelter with minimal to no compensation, and other increasingly scummy behavior that can probably be intuited but I will not detail due to how quickly that sort of thing can devolve into triggering content. You get the idea.
So, yadda yadda, Isshu decides to do a revolution! Who the fuck are the revolutioning against? Well, everyone. Paldea is likely the first to draw out due to aforementioned small stake in the whole thing anyway. It ain’t worth the losses. Have fun or whatever.
Kalos, having the largest and longest-standing presence in Isshu, are the ones that ultimately hold out the longest and refused to cut their losses until conflict elsewhere demanded their attention more than this dumb place that we don’t even WANT anyway, b-bakas.
As an addendum, there are a number of old Isshu artifacts that were either lost, destroyed, or stolen. This includes several major portions of the Temple of the Sun (the headcanon on which I cannot find) and Meloetta’s amphitheater, as well as the original Sword of Seals (though it’s companion, the shield of seals, and the seal book itself, were kept safe in Isshu thanks to the Harmonia family.)
#'abby privateers were british' don't care. paldea deserves pirates imo.#those poor fuckers have like no real legendaries. they deserve one cool thing.#IN THE PAGES OF HISTORY { headcanon. }

Star Wars: The High Republic #2 Review
Ultimately a 7.5 out of 10, this installment was slightly better because of how Cavan Scott decided to advance the plot. While there some are nice nuggets of good-story telling and character interactions, even worse than last time, it’s bogged down with cardinal errors that truly make me question Scott’s competency as a writer for this story.
The issue comes right off the back end of Keeve being promoted to a Master Jedi and chronicles her first mission in the position. She is still dealing with the growing pains of what it means to be a Jedi which is depicted with her ongoing internalized self-doubt as well as her difficulty expressing certain Jedi mantras, such as “May the Force be with you.” Arguably exacerbating this bottled up uncertainty are the Keeve-proclaimed legends of Jedi Masters Sskeer, and identical Kobati twins Terec and Ceret. These twins are Bond-twins and as so are able to share the same mind and experiences of each other.
As they exit “hyperspace” (more on that later), the four masters come across the leftover demise of a ship that has been attacked. The Jedi were tasked with responding to the scrambled distress call that the ship had sent out sometime ago but, it seems as if they arrived too late. Both Keeve and one of the twins, using the Force, are able to sense survivors within the ransacked ship. As so, they board and enter. Almost as soon as they are inside, they are met with poisonous Nihilian ovax gas and utilize a device called “rebreathers” to mitigate the effects. Fully aware that the Nihil have raided this ship, they continue their investigation and split up to cover more ground. Traversing in groups of two, Terec – who is accompanying Sskeer – can sense the Trandoshan experiencing extreme trauma which means that Ceret can feel it as well via their bond; specifically, Sskeer is having flashbacks to the exact moment he lost his arm in the Battle of Kur.
On Keeve’s side of things, she and Ceret come across the corpses of a Hutt and Gamorrean guards. Upon further examination, it seems the Hutt was killed via an amalgam of stab wounds, blaster bolts, and nagnol poisoning – the latter being a toxic natural gas, capable of disrupting starship sensors, poisoning beings based on dosage, and a key element in the Nihil smokescreen.
On Sskeer’s end, he comes across a barley crop and together the Jedi deduce that the Hutt was capitalizing on the grain shortage that has occurred thanks to the Great Disaster. As the twins work on trying to ascertain where exactly the crop came from, Ceret is attacked by a Nihil that has been left behind; this causes both twins to feel the pain but, the wounds are not fatal. Sskeer charges ahead and chases after the Nihil raider, who is already suffering from serious injuries previously sustained in the raid. While Sskeer is perturbed that he cannot sense the attacker he is able to fatally strike down the assailant; coming to gripes that he has just killed, Sskeer goes on a rampage and continually slashes the bifurcated carcass only be brought back to his senses when Keeve addresses him.
Afterward, the Masters relay their findings to Marshall Avar Kriss and with the analysis from Master Maru, come to the conclusion that the barley – specifically Vratixia Renanicus – is a key ingredient in bacta; moreover, the shipment likely came from the Sedri System – principally, Sedri Minor. With this in mind, Kriss assigns Sskeer and Ceret to got to Sedri while she and Jedi Master Rwoh convene with Keeve and Terec to collect the Hutt ship that is breaking trading sanctions. Keeve moves to go with Sskeer but, Sskeer stonewalls her to stay with Terec.
Arriving on the planet, Sskeer is met with unwecolmedness by a citizen, Kalo Sulman who makes it clear that the Jedi’s presence will interfere with the colony’s independence. As the two are discussing, Ceret sees a Rodian in the crops motioning him to come over – as Ceret goes deep into the brush he is attacked by Drengir.
Back on the ship, Kriss and Keeve are discussing the remains of the corpse that Sskeer has left; Kriss reprimands Keeve for not telling her sooner but, also admonishes herself for not looking deeper into the signs the Force were giving her – such as not being able to hear Sskeer’s “song”.
As this happens, Terec – who is being medically assessed by Rwoh – screams out in pain feeling his brother’s anguish and relays this to Kriss. Kriss immediately contacts Sskeer and asks if Ceret is with him; when Sskeer realizes that the twin is gone rushes into the fields only to find his lightsaber.
What I liked:
A growing plot pivoting off of the bacta manufacturing that was touched on by Jedi Grandmaster Veter; this is much welcomed world building within the parameters that is the High Republic.
A very competent and aptly written investigation, analysis, and deductive reasoning done by the Jedi as a whole. The way the Jedi got on the ship, looked for clues, relayed their information to the data analyst/forensic expert, and hash out a plan to go to the planet where the clue originated from was great and definitely resonated with the idea that these Jedi are analogous to Texas Rangers. They certainly seemed like proto-Jedi investigators, not unlike future Jedi Master Tera Sinube.
The continued delving into Jedi Master Sskeer. I like the balancing act that is being conducted with his character. He’s a virtuous being that is dealing with trauma but, that doesn’t, ultimately, stop him from being a Jedi – it just tests it. He is still a “knight” and applies that chivalry when it needs to shine. Witnessing his accident and how it is affecting his psyche, ability to use the Force, and his morality is the highlight of this issue. This is what should be focused on to establish WHY Keeve looks up to him – give her these thoughts in accordance with herself doubt.
The dynamics of Ceret and Terec as interconnected Force Twins (could be seen as “Dyad Force-bond” inspired). Their link is a double-edged sword that reminds me of the Tomax and Xamot Paoli from Cobra Command. The original Star Wars was centered around Force sensitive twins and it’s nice to see that element played with more here – haven’t really seen that since the Mikkian twin sisters – Tiplee and Tiplar – in Clone Wars.
The holster to the lightsabers – it’s a nice, subtle way to convey how the Jedi of this era are more in a time of peace and reservation. To have a weapon holstered means that they have to take the extra moment to consider brandishing it. This underlying detail syncs really well with the time period considering that most of their enemies would be lifeforms and could be reasoned with – “life is precious.”
This can be seen as succinct yet distinct dichotomy between this era Jedi and the Skywalker Saga Jedi, as their sabers were without a holster and normally fashioned around the hips allowing for both instant access and draw in an age encompassed by war with droids – “droids are replaceable.”
What I disliked:
The application of Keeve’s personality traits continues to feel like a mismatch for the particular time period and volk she supposedly has been training and studying with; Ezra Bridger – who by the High Republic’s standards would not even be a Jedi – acts more like a Jedi than Keeve does. If anything, the uncertainty, quirks, and misapplication of Jedi traditions would have fit Ezra WAY more than it does (or really doesn’t) with Keeve. The concept itself is fine but, the iteration is what is flawed. Keeve is fast feeling more like a Jedi from post revenge Revenge of the Sith – like Kanan Jarrus – that a High Republic Jedi.
The sloppy fan service – there is a scene not only of a Hutt but, the Hutt is dead with its tongue out, surrounded by dead Gamorrean guards. It would be one thing if we just had a dead Hutt, I can even look past the Gamorrean guards (even though it would be nice if we saw this race in more roles than guards – there are some but, it does seem like guards is niche as far as the universe is concerned) but, to also have the Hutt dead with its tongue out to me just screams “DO YOU REMEMBER THAT ONE SCENE IN RETURN OF THE JEDI WITH JABBA?!!!” Just, how much are you going to dilute a reference? Make the fan service substantive and or just not in your face – the Rodian luring Ceret is a good version of fan service; present, notable, but not impeding in terms of the narrative.
What I Marked Off:
The completely wrong depiction of hyperspace; Star Wars Hyperspace is blue and certainly not immersed in stars when one is traveling through it. This error is on the very first page of the issue. This shook me to my very core and yanked me out of the immersion. IT’S THE FIRST PAGE! HOW DOES ONE MESS UP ON THE FIRST PAGE?!!! To add grave insult to mortal injury, hyperspace is a FOCAL element of the High Republic Era – you CAN NOT mess this up. Ultimately, it’s a team mess up but, Scott gets the brunt of this reprimand because this is his story and arguably his script is the one that should be guiding the artist.
The fact that Scott continues to fail to make the necessary references about crucial dynamics, events, and positions within this era. I had to learn from a YouTube video (link below) that Sskeer is actually the “Steward” to Kriss’ Marshall role. As of issue #3, this position is still not established to be held by Sskeer which is a real shame as it adds more substance and weight to his plight as a perturbed Jedi. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPeRcyJE5dk&feature=emb_title
In summary, this issue was a 7.5 out of 10; slightly better than issue one because of how the writer decided to advance the plot and who he decided to advance the plot with. The genuinely good moments of story-telling are bogged down by ineptitude that can literally throw one out of the immersion. Nonetheless, if you can tolerate the faults there are elements to enjoy, especially when it comes to the characters. I hope those elements promptly become prominent.

What are your personal opinions on galar and the new starters?
I mean I literally love all the starters so much, I would perish for them 100%
in terms of galar, I’m a little nervous because it’s a new region and I’m worried about getting lost, but mostly I’m super excited!!! because, look, it’s based on the UK, right?? so not only is there a tunnel from the UK to France (Kalos), there’s also this whole rivalry thing historically, right????
so I’m pretty sure we’re all thinking the same thing--this is the region that ties to Kalos!!! it’s the region you could take the train to, it’s the region that went to war with Kalos in the AZ story--heck, what if we can go to Kalos in the postgame???
maybe we can get into that locked door in the Kalos power plant!!!
maybe lysandre will show up and wreak havoc again (which is great for me personally because he’s generic’s main villain!!!) maybe we’ll even get all the lore people were hoping for back then!!!!
if the recent Mario and Zelda games proved anything, it’s that Nintendo can definitely fit a ton of worlds into the Switch games, so two regions isn’t unrealistic!!!
but even if there’s no tie to Kalos, there’s just so much potential for the region as it is, and I’m really excited to go there and play through it!!! I might even get to do little doodle comics of generic’s adventures in the playthrough!!!
#oceandi answers#tayioart#since the switch has multiple saves I might even do a bug-only run as generic's guzma skjdfhjdsk#I won't avoid spoilers because I did that for sun/moon and it killed me#I can't wait to shiny hunt in it too--there'll probably be some inventive new method like in LGPE!!

Here’s a fanfic requested by @terrariheart!
Diary Entries
Kalo bounced up and down in his seat. He went on an adventure with a real hero today!
A real one!
With a cool mask and superpowers!
“He was so awesome!” he squealed.
“Is that so?” His dad laughed, most of his focus on piloting the starship.
“Yeah!” Kalo nodded furiously. “I watched him fight a villan! Like, they tried to kick him like BOOM, but he then he blocked it like BAM, and then he, like, dissapeared, but then he popped up behind him! Like a ninja!”
“Wow, that does sound cool,” his dad answered.
“I’m gonna be just like him when I grow up!” Kalo exclaimed, deciding right then and there that the only path for him in life was being a hero. He wouldn’t settle for anything else.
“Y'know, I actually have a suprise for you,” his dad chuckled.
“Really?!” Kalo’s eyes lit up.
“Check the compartment under your seat.”
Kalo did as he was told, and pulled out a small, shiny blue notebook with a pretty geometric design sprawling across the cover. A pencil was tucked into the spine.
“I know it isn’t much, but I thought you might like it. You can write exciting things down in the book so you never forget.” His dad smiled.
“Woooaaah,” Kalo admired the way that light glinted off of the cover. “I really, really like it, dad! I’m gonna write in it right now!”
Meeting a real-life superhero was definitely exciting, it had to be the first to go in his book.
So, Kalo began to write.
He would come to use this book a lot in the future. —————————————— Dear Diary,
I met a hero today! A real life, super cool hero! He had a black costume, and a black mask, and a white helmet. He was super-duper nice! He even let me go on an adventure with him! I watched him fight a bad guy. Arcas is gonna be SO jealous when I tell him!
(Below is a messy doodle of what appears to be the aformentioned hero and Kalo holding hands)
P.S. First thing I wrote in my new book!!!! —————————————— Dear Diary,
I met a new friend today! Me and Arcas was playing out in the big field, and there was a new girl! She is pink and her name is Cherie. She is 6 like me! She is really cool.
(Below is a messy doodle of what appears to be Cherie, Arcas, and Kalo playing together) ————————————————– (The writing below is smudged and barely legible)
Dear Diary,
I tried to save her. I really tried. I got the remote. I got the remote, so why did she die? Why did she die? The monster said she wouldn’t die. She wasn’t supposed to die. It was my fault, right? I wasn’t fast enough. I wasn’t fast enough and she died. I wasn’t fast enough. I wasn’t fast enough. I wasn’t fast enough I wasn’t fast enough I wasn’t fast enough I wasn’t fast enough
(The writing deteriorates into scribbles, and tearstains riddle the surface of the paper) —————————————– (Handwriting in this entry has significantly improved)
Uh, Dear Diary, I guess,
Geez, I haven’t written in this thing for a long time, ever since…that. Well, 15 years have passed, and I found this thing in a box in my closet when I was cleaning up. Well, I guess I’m gonna be getting back to filling this in again.
Looking back at my earlier “entries,” I guess it’s tradition to leave a doodle.
Sooo
(Below is a cleaner, but still very messy doodle of Kalo sticking out his tongue and holding up the peace sign) ————————————— Dear Diary,
I STILL don’t believe it, but me and Arcas actually got into the army. Apparently, I ranked high enough on the entrance exam to be part of the National Guard! Arcas got scored lower though, so he’s a part of the Adelian troops, which, to be honest, is still pretty great.
Anyways, the only thing that bothers me is that when I went to go report to the Admiral of the Fleet, he struck me as…kinda off. His name is Caesar, and he’s a purple guy. He never once took off his visor while we were talking, and he just had this look in his eye, like he was sizing me up. Maybe it’s just me.
P.S. No doodle today. I’m tired. I’m pretty sure my arms are gonna fall off. ———————————————- (The handwriting below is slightly wobbly)
Dear Diary,
I’m still shaky from what happened.
Okay, so apparently Planet Adeli gets attacked way more than I thought. First week in and there’s already a ScarBlade raid on the west side of the city. I swear to sweet Adelia there were seven different instances where I thought I was going to die. I don’t know how, but the worst injury I have is a cut on my right shoulder. I could have literally lost my head if I was a second slower.
What I don’t get is that the ScarBlade troops attacked a resource convoy to the army that only the higher-ups know about, and I really hope it’s a coincidence, but for some reason, Caesar never showed up at the fight.
(Below is a doodle of Kalo running from what seems to be a ScarBlade Soldier) —————————————— Dear Diary,
It’s true, I saw it. Caesar is acually a traitor. He’s the reason ScarBlade attacks are so frequent. He’s the reason why the ScarBlade troops always know where to hit. I can’t believe it. I was coming in early for my morning report, and lo and behold! There he was! The General, the Adelia-damned GENERAL OF THE SCARBLADES, was right there in his office! I don’t think they saw me, or knew that the door wasn’t completely closed. I KNEW there was something wrong with him!
I don’t think they notice me liatening in around the corner. —————————————— Dear Diary,
A lot happened today.
I don’t know how the hell I’m still alive with all my limbs still attached.
There was an attack on the Main Plaza, which would be fine, if it weren’t for the fact that the Monthly Debate was also today. It wasn’t even a regular Monthly Debate. The Governor himself wanted watch it.
I bet Caesar was the one who tipped off the enemy, they wouldn’t have cared if they didn’t know.
That isn’t even the craziest part.
During the attack, people were scattered all over the place in a panic. The ScarBlade General had the Governor cornered, and my legs just started moving.
The next thing I know, I had tackled quite possibly THE STRONGEST MEMBER OF THE SCARBLADE ARMY. I told the Governor to run while I dealt with him. While I tangled with him, I realized three things.
1. He’s a general, thus probably has 500x the fighting experience that I have 2. I’m a newbie who’s barely had this job for over two months 3. He had a REALLY BIG KNIFE
Long story short (because my memory is shot after that), Arcas arrived along with the rest of the Adelian troops and drove all of the enemies away. The Governor thanked me for saving him, but at that point I was just running on auto-pilot. I’m pretty sure my bloodstream is still 98% adrenaline.
He said something about a ceremony for awarding me. I wonder how that’s gonna go.
(Below is a doodle of Kalo, who is lying on his side in the fetal position)
P.S. Throughout the entire battle, Caesar was nowhere to be found. When the Governor questioned him about it, he said he was “mixed up in personal buisness.” Right. ———————————————— Dear Diary,
I have just been titled the God of War. I am basically the guardian of this planet. I’m still trying to wrap my head around everything. Sweet Adelia, this all happened so fast. I have had this job for exactly two months, one week, and three days, and I already have all THIS happening.
The Governor said a lot of things during the ceremony, like how someone my age and rank was able to have the courage to go toe-to-toe with the leader of the enemy, and how I would be the youngest Adelian in history to recieve this title.
Despite everything, the ceremony actually went really well, and if I’m being honest, hearing all those people cheer my name is actually kinda nice.
After the ceremony, two people came to congratulate me.
The first one was Caesar. The experience was…less than comfortable.
He said the usual things, like congratulating me for getting the title, blah blah blah. Then he said, and I quote:
“But having a higher rank can paint a bigger target on your back, y'know? So you might wanna look out for yourself.”
I’m pretty sure that he knows that I know.
The second person who congratulated me was Arcas, and that was way better. He asked if I wanted to go out and get drinks to celebrate, but I said no.
You see, compared to him, I’m a bit of a lightweight, and every time we go out to drink, we always somehow end up having a drinking contest. The last thing I need is to deal with a hangover.
He was cool with it, which is a relief, because I was kinda worried he’d take it the wrong way. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a good guy and my best friend, but he’s also a bit of an idiot.
Anyways, speaking of Arcas, I’m not the only one rising up the ranks. Arcas said a high-ranking officer is letting him do a retest of the Enterance Exam! There’s a chance he could be in the National Guard with me!
Well, I’m tired now. This is the longest entry I’ve written and I need to get some sleep.
(Below is a small doodle of what looks to be a badge with a symbol on it)
P.S. I’m going to start compiling evidence on Caesar. The longer someone as corrupt as him is in a high rank, the more comprimised the saftey of the planet becomes. ————————————————- Dear Diary,
Caesar asked to have a private talk with me in his office today. So I went, since he technically still outranked me.
“Arcas is going to be added into the National guard soon,” he said, and he asked what I thought about that.
“I look forward to being able to work with a close friend, sir,” I replied. He chuckled a little and went “Is that so?”
It was at this moment I was sure something was off.
Then Caesar asked what I thought of Arcas. So I told him exactly what I thought.
“He’s passionate, loyal, and a good fighter, albeit a little slow sometimes.”
“Is he gullible?” Caesar asked. Now this question was just out of the blue. So I asked him why he wanted to know. Then everything went South.
“I just wanted to know if he’d make a good scapegoat,” he said, nonchalantly.
“Pardon?” I wanted to know if I heard him right, because if I did, that means he isn’t even trying to hide it anymore. Of course, I didn’t hear wrong.
“I’m sure you heard me right. I know you know what I mean,” Caesar was smiling.
“It’s funny that you think you can do anything against me. You can’t do a single thing.”
And he was right, that’s why he’s said so much. I don’t have evidence of any sort, so if I just accused him, I’d be written off as crazy at best. I was compltely cornered
So I ran. I turned around and ran right out of the office.
After that, Arcas told me which high-ranking officer gave him the retest. Unless there is another “gruff, purple admiral” in the army that I don’t know about, he’s talking about Caesar.
I can’t let him get into the National Guard. ——————————————— Dear Diary,
Today was supposed to be the day that Arcas joined the ranks of the elite along with me. That didn’t happen though. I couldn’t let him in. I wasn’t about to let him become Caesar’s scapegoat. So I framed him. I framed him for leaking military secrets, something he’d never do.
God, it all feels so bad.
When he got dragged away, he had this horrible, betrayed look on his face. I hope I did the right thing. I don’t want to lose him, not like I did with her.
Now I need to explain things to his parents, maybe get them somewhere safe.
P.S. This is probably gonna be the last entry. Something big’s gonna happen soon, I can feel it. ————————————————
“Hey, Careful S, is this your diary?”
Kalo pulled a small, purple note book out of a box. The two of them were currently in the middle of tidying up their room.
“Uh…yeah,” Careful S. mumbled, feeling his face flush. “Can-can I have that?”
Kalo laughes.
“Hah! Don’t worry, I’m not gonna read it!” He passes the notebook over to him.
“Y'know, I used to have a diary,” Kalo smiled, but it quickly fell. “Before it got…destroyed, along with…the rest of my planet.”
The two of them lapsed into an uncomfortable silence.
“Wanna know what the first entry in my entry was?” Kalo blurted out.
“Sure,” Careful S. replied.
“It was actually about something I did on Planet XingXing…” Kalo proceeded to talk about an adventure he had as a kid, though the deeper he got into the story, the more familiar it all sounded.
Suddenly, it all clicked into place. That clingy, blue-haired kid he met during his trip back in time. That was Kalo.
“Now that I think about it, the hero I met reminds me a lot about you now,” Kalo mused, completely oblivious.
Then Careful S. began to laugh. He laughed at the ridiculousness of of the situation, and about the fact that Kalo used to be so spunky as a child.
Kalo looked at him in confusion. Seeing him laugh was an extremely rare sight.
“What’s so funny?”
“The hero you met? That actually was me.”

Chapter seven: New island

Previous Chapter: https://dontfindyourcenter.tumblr.com/post/177339049670/chapter-six-its-a-cold-and-its-a-broken-hala
Alola, Akala! What a wonderful phrase Alola, Akala! Ain't no passing craze
It means new trials, I might be crying for days About my center-free, philosophy
Alola, Akala!
Why, when Nina was a young rock doooog
Rockruff, ruff ruff ruff rockruuuuuuuuuuuuuuff!
Very nice!
Rockruff.
We came to Heahea city and I couldn’t help feel I was enjoying this challenge! I could let out a squeal! I’ve an optimist’s soul, though I couldn’t begin To really truly believe, that I could ever win...
And I’m not ashamed!
(No, there’s no shame!)
It’s a difficult game!
(Why am I doing this game?)
I feel like I’ve lucked up
(How do I feel?)
Whenever I haven’t -
(Tori! Not in front of the kids!)
Sorry.
Alola, Akala!
What a wonderful phrase
Alola, Akala!
Ain't no passing craze
It means new trials, I might be crying for days About my healing-free, philosophy
Alola, Akala!
...Uhhhh… Sorry about that.
But seriously, I’m actually feeling pretty good about myself, docking into Heahea City! Even though I can remember the second island of Alola is a lot harder than the first, I’m pretty happy with the team I cobbled together back there, and I’ve got a pretty respectable stash of revives if the worst happens. Even if I’m still not convinced I’ll make it to the Elite Four, I can still be pretty confident that I’ll make it to the other side of this island. Bring it on, I say!
Another city, another chance to buy everything blue and purple from the clothes shop. (Did I even mention that I went back and got everything purple from the Hau’oli clothes shop before I came here? Because I did!) Shockingly though, even without having spent any money on items for the entire game, I still can’t afford the slightly-purple trainers they’re selling here. I blame the recession. I vow to come back here after the first trial and see if I have more luck then.
Before I can even get onto route 4 and savage the local wildlife, I’m accosted by Sina and Dexio, a pair of scientists on their holidays all the way from Kalos! I kinda miss Kalos. Since my copy of pokemon Y got lost a long while ago, it’s the only region I haven’t been playing games in non-stop in the last three years. If I have any secret millionaires hidden among the five people who follow this blog, hit me up if you want to send me a copy of pokemon X.
Anyway, Sina invites me to a pokemon battle, but that doesn’t last long. Her delibird provides me with one of those rare battles where my pokemon end up with more health at the end of the match than they had at the start, and her glaceon gets dispatched by a couple of Magnet Bombs from Digit Al the magnemite. As a reward, she heals my pokemon and gives me a Zygarde Cube. I have no intention of adding a Zygarde to my party, but I’ll take the cube anyway - I can’t say no to a good treasure hunt. Also, I literally can’t say no.
I charge through route four pretty quickly on tauros’s back, with Nina throwing rocks at trainers as we go. We soon reach Paniola Town, where Hau catches up to me. Hi Hau! He challenges me to a battle, and - oh, Hau, sweetie, you still only have two pokemon? I have a feeling that nepotism played a part in Hau winning his first grand trial, bless him. In any case, Jabba the grimer beats his pikachu, Digit Al beats his popplio, and I find out that sweet, innocent Hau heals all his opponents’ pokemon both before and after every battle he gets into. No wonder the boy’s not doing so well - the potions alone must be costing him a fortune, and god knows how he manages to restore the moves of everyone’s PP on top of that.
I wander around the only open non-pokemon-center building in the Town and a magmar gives me a quick ball which is heavily implied to have been hidden up its read end. I think that’s my cue to leave.
Onwards to Paniola Ranch, where I get a Stoutland registered on my ride pager who can sniff out items for me, and the useful lad even finds me some useful healing items. Hey, if it finds super potions on the ground, does that make it a drug-sniffing dog? ...That was really clever in my head, but on reflection, that’s probably where the entire concept of the Stoutland Search function came from. Let’s pretend I didn’t say anything.
While I’m here, I say hi to a tauros in the corner, and a pokemon breeder wanders up to me and asks me if I want to battle him to calm him down. Makes sense - when I’m feeling riled up, nothing calms me down more than having a cartoon woodpecker break a brick on my head. Anyway, the breeder gives me a Scope Lense when I’m done.
Just before I head up to route 5, where my next trial is waiting, I see a miltank standing next to the pokemon nursery. Normally, I’d go up to it and investigate; I love the little touches the developers of the game add when you interact with pokemon like that, even when they turn out to be a quick ball hidden in a magmar’s arse. I don’t do it here, though, because I remember that I used to get healed by that miltank when I was playing Pokemon Sun, and getting deliberately healed by an NPC is Against The Rules. I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t been tempted to feign ignorance, though. The trainers around the ranch are a great source of experience, but they do take a toll on the HP.
And now I’m on route 5, and I can finally meet everyone’s favourite edgelord, Gladion! I love the weird thing he does where he sort of clutches his hand in from of him and it sort of vibrates. I’m sure it’s meant to make him look more mysterious and unpredictable or whatever, but it just makes him look like he’s doing that thing you do when you’re trying to spook kids at halloween. “And the scariest part is, nobody knows where the disembodied hand is now - wait - noooo! It’s here! Run, save yourselves!”
Gladion’s first pokemon is a zubat, which goes up against Celine McQueen the slowpoke. I win that match, but in hindsight, I wish I’d switched pokemon early on in the battle. I should know by now that zubats always seem to know Bite, and Celine took more damage than was really necessary. Regardless, I switch over to Jabba when he sends out his Type:Null. Jabba poisons Nully with his Poison Fang attack, but man, I forgot how much of a punch that guy packs, even with a relatively weak attack like tackle. Jabba immediately has to switch places with Digit Al to avoid death.
...Hey, speaking of Jabba dying, a thought has just occurred to me. How did Jabba the Hutt die of being strangled in Star Wars? He doesn’t have a neck! What’s that about?
Sorry, I guess that’s not that important. Digit Al has higher defence than Jabba, so he manages to take a couple of hits and send a couple of thundershocks until Type:Null gets knocked out. That’s that done and dusted and he… doesn’t heal my pokemon.
Huh.
Unless I’m very much mistaken, that marks the first time in the game where I battle a major recurring character and don’t have my pokemon automatically healed before or after the encounter.
I guess this is where things really get interesting.
End of chapter seven.

The Demon Inheritance (5)
F I V E
In the middle of the night, I noticed that the strange dreams began to take a more lucid turn. They were frighteningly real before, but I felt more in the skin of the people I dreamed of, if that made sense. I dreamed of being Ebony once more, and instead of it having anything to do with Salt, she fought someone whom she called a "Dark general”. That dream faded as soon as my eyes opened. I woke in the midst of that dream, and glanced over. I had Dillan’s books collected to the side of my bed, neatly propped against the mattress, waiting to be read. The notebooks had paper within the metal spiral, and were very thin, suggesting he had torn a lot of paper out of it. I picked up book two by random and opened to another randomly selected page. I have come to the conclusion Emma Whitestone is so attractive to humans because she is a succubus. The handwriting was unique, messy, and thinning on the edges. Definately that of a teenage boy. I wrinkled my brow in confusion, not a bit amused. I set that book down and, in the dark, went for book one. I used my air to flip on the lightswitch, and opened it up the the first page, not including the title page. Everyone suffers it differently. Some are cut off from reality in the midst of beginning again. Some experience great physical and mental pain until the day they begin again. Some wait to suffer until after they begin. This caught my interest. There is a transitions occurring there. Imagine: Your whole life you were human, and then you wake up as something else with the fate of existence on your shoulders. This is the way I suffered. I tarnished like metal under the stress of what I could barely believe was real. And what had triggered it? Of course, it was my bloodline. I was found by my Apotropaic, Carter Vurandoes. He came to Earth in a vessel, looking for me, the Vurandoes prophet of darkness. So the tacosexual boy could be serious if he wanted to! To understand some of these things, Emma Whitestone, you should begin reading information at the second book while following book one. I was already used to the fact that these books had been addressed to me. They were written in pen. The ink, at the time of the party, had been able to smear. It suggested Dillan had gone back in older pages to write to me directly, and left the books where he knew I’d snoop. At this point in time, I didn’t imagine myself as ‘crazy’, either. After all, other people experienced the weird daydreams and such. Isn’t that what Dillan had claimed in the first passage? I leaned over and picked up book two. EXTANT LIST Murondoes, Angels - Nahara Claire (Light) Minium, Faeries - Unknown (Fire) Kalos, Demons - Emma Whitestone (Wind) I stiffened at the words sprawled open to my eyes. Dillan knew about my air. And If I wasn’t mistaken, Oliver had called me a demon in one of my former dreams. Is it true? I’m a demon? Perhaps calling me a succubus hadn’t been a joke to Dillan, but the truth… I chortled at the thought. What a weird prank, I thought underneath my fear, and turned the page. Bleahdos (Demons) - Fango Mills (Earth) Minios (Faeries) - Delta Waters (Water) Vurandoes (Angels) - Dillan Raking (obviously) (Darkness) Although the entirety of the six kingdoms was ruled by one deity, two of them have had a founder from the beginning. Murondoes was founded by Jupus, and Kalos was founded by Ebony. My blood went cold and my face went slack. My amusement slipped. It wasn’t realistic, but then again, nothing seemed to be anymore. Everything was true, then… Something huge was going on, and I was a part of it. I let the fact sink in before I kept reading. APOTROPAIC LIST Murondoes - Gan Minium - Ace Kalos - Oliver Oliver was my Apotropaic. I guessed that much. I’d have to call Oliver out on that next time we saw each other in reality, not in my dreams. Vurandoes - Carter Minios - Caleb Blaehdoes - Mun The Apotropaics train their Extants to use their element and amongst other things. They are really old… Seriously, Oliver is over seven hundred years old, and he’s the youngest. (Still don’t know how he’s immortal after all these years! Actually, it’s probably because he isn’t gay and all the females are either his mom or his aunt, but whatever). The only power they share is their species, and they can combine mental energies (for the Extant, it’s their element, not their mental energies), but so can anyone with a Croman mental energy. It doesn’t mean those fake human telepathics or even the real human ones. We can only combine energies (or element) with other Cromans. That's weird, isn't it? And the way our powers work: I am the darkness. I could levitate tacos in the shadows and eat them. I could wipe my ass if the lights were off, using my mind! I huffed. There is literally no new info I can put in and I want to write, so, yeah. I had the feeling that passage hadn’t been looked over when Dillan set the books out for me. This one also actually seemed written by Dillan, while the others took on a dangerously serious tone. I eased up in my bed, unsure that I wasn’t going to across anything so deathly serious that I’d have to tense and hurt myself to take in. The Croma Garden has soil that Croma died on, and so it will be the only fertile soil in the land. However, coming across green in the garden is rare, even more so finding seeds. Dark and Croma were brothers, born alongside the universe. Croma was the very first God, Dark the very first Devil. What was born was an entity of dark (Dark, obviously), light (Croma), and gray (the universe). Dark destroyed, and only knew how to create minions. Croma created, and only knew how to destroy sadness in the lives of his people. This guy was literally like my Grandpa, but with powers, according to all the books about him. So, anyways, the Dark killed Croma in a huge war, an uprising to try and take his land and his beta dimension. The fight was led by the four Dark generals, Satan, Death, Salt, and Gary Bluethorne, who has taken more of a liking to earth than his land. My breath caught in my throat. Bluethorne? That explained his little arguement with Oliver. And he knew I was an 'Extant'. Jupus and Ebony led our defense. Croma died, and his soul was carried away through tunnels in space to another dimension he was making we called The Second, but the new, weaker inhabitants called The Milky Way. Croma - God, as he was reincarnated as - barely had power over the new place, and the inhabitants had to eat and stuff to live, which, apparently, Cromans don’t. Whenever they reincarnated Croma’s soul on earth, one of each kingdom came with. There is actually a theory that most of them died, but we don’t care… The deal was, we find all the prophets in one generation and have them fight. At times, people from the kingdoms became lost in the dimensions. For example, the Kalos died, but Emma Whitestone is still the daughter of two demons, and she isn’t a killer. (Obviously, since I just found out who the Kalos prophet is, this information I’m writing is new.) Me, the daughter of two demons? My mother and father found it difficult to squash a fly, much less anything else. I scoffed nervously at that bit, and set the book down. So, I'm not crazy. Something was happening, and my dreams portrayed it. But what exactly was I fighting, and why? Was I fighting the Dark? I leaned over to pick up the third book, then settled back onto my mattress. The first words on the page jumped out at me. The Dark could make a good several billion devils cower in fear, and more. He is destruction. He is, as the name suggests, dark. I gulped, flipping the page. Each Extant is a piece of Croma, holding in the elements he used to create us. I’ve heard combined energies and do some pretty awesome things, and all six elements being combined is pure creation, which can destroy pure destruction. Not the best wording, but it comes from Ace, so of course it’s going to be awful. Anyways, that’s what happened. Now we’re expected to fight, because the Dark wants to kill Croma (God, he goes by now). God is literally a million times weaker than Croma, and has no idea what’s going on. It’s our job to protect our world and our creator. In the end, we will win. The Dark will die, an we will all suceed and get fat on glory. The war will be won. Either that, or we will come to a stalemate. We will all die… All Extants, the Dark, and the beta dimension will collapse. We’d have given our lives for earth, for our families still on earth, and for our friends that were never part of this. We’d have sacrificed ourselves for everything. We are the ultimate soldiers, trained by the best Apotropaics, ready for war to erupt. People will die in the end, as it happens in every war. Failure is not an option. It's your demon inheritance to win. Emma Whitestone, if you get in my way of saving this world, if you turn on us because you are new to the order here, I will gut you and feed it to Mary. Get it across your head before you act stupid. Oh, and welcome home, soldier. I blew a shaky breath, more in anger than fear. The tacosexual thought he’d be able to hurt me? Even if he had a stronger ‘element’, he couldn’t get to me. Besides, I planned to cooperate. My own way. I didn’t give a rat’s ass about earth, or Croma, or the dimension I lived in. However, like Dillan had said, I had a family and my best friend to protect. To an extent, I agreed with Dillan’s writing. Failure is not an option… I closed the notebook. Shakily, I put it back beside my bed. Then, I lied back in bed. That's right. Even if it's a prank, I have people to protect. My eyes closed. Failure is not an option...

(if you don't mind me sending a second one) top ten fma characters?
Of course I don’t! This one is going to be hard, though, because there are so many fantastic characters that I feel it’s inevitable I’m going to end up forgetting someone.
Roy Mustang --- Roy didn’t used to be my favorite character way back in middle / high school when I was first introduced to FMA (through the 2003 series), and even then, he wasn’t my favorite character when Brotherhood first aired in 2009, or even on multiple re-watches. Instead, he is a character who has steadily grown to be my fave with each new re-watch. I swear to god, every time I revisit this series I love him more, and more, and more, and now he’s undoubtedly my favorite. I love Colonel Badass. More than that, I love how he’s Colonel Dad even as he tries to argue it and claim, without anyone suggesting otherwise, that he’s not Fullmetal’s father, ffs. (Yes you are, Roy. You’re one of his dads. Just accept it.) I love . . . so much about Roy. I love how clever and intelligent he is, that he recognizes the machinations of the government and how he plays his pieces correctly in order to advance up the ladder, but how he does that specifically so that he can a.) protect the people most important to him (and did you notice? In the Japanese version, he uses the exact same language Alan does when saying he wants to protect his most important people! Taisetsu mono!), and b.) protect everyone in Amestris by sitting at the very top as Fuhrer President (which is exactly why I think Alan would make an excellent Champion---he can protect everyone in Kalos that way, that’s literally the Champion’s job, but that’s a meta for another time). Roy also wants to atone for everything he did during the Ishbal extermination---he wants himself and all other state alchemists held accountable for their war crimes, but only after they help with Ishbal’s restoration, which I think is just incredibly admirable. Like, it’s not just that Roy feels guilty and feels he’s deserving of punishment. He knows that the lives lost can never be restored, knows that the destruction can never be undone, but he still wants to help restore Ishbal to a land of prosperity first, so it’s not just that he’s punishing himself (and others), but that he’s actively giving back to Ishbal instead of just leaving them destitute. Like, goddamn. That is the right fucking reaction to what happened.Additionally, Roy is so good about keeping his cards close to his chest, about not showing how he feels most of the time, but the truth is that he cares so fucking much. He’s obviously in love with Riza. His team means everything to him (he’s fucking crushed when Havoc is paralyzed, crushed), he cares about the Elric boys, he cares about---just about everyone. Roy keeps up an unaffected exterior most of the time because he has to, but the truth is that these things cut him pretty deeply and they do keep him up at night. There’s so much to him and so much within him and goddamn I love the fucking Flame Alchemist. He’s definitely my fave. I adore him.(Also, not for nothing, but PokéAni actually paid him a homage, using Alan, no less. Feast your eyes. There’s no way using that very specific number wasn’t intentional. None.)
Edward Elric --- Ed was always my favorite in the past, and to be honest I still relate to him a lot and still love him dearly, so he’s just #2 now. (Sorry, Ed . . . but in the Flame vs. Fullmetal battle of my heart, you lose.) Aside from also being quite short (though he inevitably surpassed me in height, damn him), I used to be sensitive about it in childhood. Whereas I’m comfortable with the fact that I’m tiny now, I used to have quite a temper about it as a kid . . . so in that sense, honestly, I found him to be quite relatable!Aside from that, though, he’s yet another Determinator. He’s a hothead sometimes, but he has a heart of gold, and he’s a very protective big brother. These are all traits I find very attractive in characters. On top of which, although I feel like in many ways Ed would nearly be a Hat Stall between Gryffindor and Ravenclaw, in the end I feel like the Hat would either put him in Gryffindor, or he’d choose to be there, but Ravenclaw would be a very close secondary---and that’s something I relate to, because I am a Gryffindor, but Ravenclaw is my secondary. (Or to use the Ilvermony Houses, I’m a Gryffindor at Hogwarts and Horned Serpent at Ilvermorny---a Serpendor, if you will. I feel that Ed is very much the same way.) We have similar ways of looking at and doing things, to the point where Ed is certainly one of those characters that I point to when people want to get to know me through fictional characters. I’ll always love the Fullmetal Alchemist. Even if he’s not technically an alchemist anymore, he’ll always be the alchemist in my soul. Even if he’s #2 now, I’ll always cherish him. ♥
Izumi Curtis --- MAMA IZUMI GETS SHIT DONE. I loooove Izumi, so very much. I love her not only because she’s a badass housewife / alchemist who strikes fear into the hearts of all who meet her---who easily tosses Sloth across the room even though Sloth was giving both Olivier and Alex trouble---but also because she has a heart of gold and is allowed to have her moments of vulnerability without that diminishing how badass she is. Izumi is allowed to be a grieving mother who lost her only biological child, she’s allowed to be there for her surrogate sons Ed and Al, she’s allowed to show moments of grief and pain without at all losing how incredible she is. Every moment that she goes Mama Boy over the boys is pure gold and just---every moment she has is pure gold, including when she sends Bradley packing. Izumi is amazing. I love her.
Riza Hawkeye --- I also really, really cherish Riza! What I love most about Riza is that I feel like, in a lesser shounen manga, her love for Roy would have been her motivation for enlisting in the military and swearing to follow him “into Hell, if necessary.” But that’s not the case here. Riza is in love with Roy, but her motivation for doing what she does is because she believes in his vision for their country, not because she loves him. This is why she is capable of shooting him (killing him) if necessary, if it seems as if he’s no longer going to be able to fulfill his promise and will instead actively work against it. Yes, it would break her heart to do so. It’s very obvious how much pulling the trigger would break her, but she can and will do it because what she swore to was his vision for Amestris. She won’t let anything, even her feelings for him, blind her to that. Riza lived through having an abusive father, survived the Ishbal Extermination, and has gone through so much more. She’s so strong, not only because she stays stoic in the face of most things, but because she continues to fight even though we see on numerous instances how much all of this has gotten to her. Her relationship with Roy is by far my favorite ship in the series (for so many reasons), but overall the reason why I love Riza so much is because of who she is shown to be outside of him. She’s compassionate, brave, wonderful with children, a very good dog mom, and overall just a believable and wonderful character. I love Riza. Riza is so good.
Ling Yao --- THE PRINCE OF MY HEART!! What I love most about Ling is how easily he flips between comedic relief and an actually serious character that shouldn’t be brushed aside. So many of his early scenes are full of shenanigans, but even those that are rife with shenanigans are peppered with moments of seriousness because of how serious Ling is about his duty to Xing. He wants immortality---and he doesn’t want it for himself, but for his people, and that’s not just limited to the Yao clan. Ling is willing to do anything for his people, because he believes that’s what a king should do, even if it means sacrificing his own autonomy to do it. I do think that was a reckless, irresponsible choice, but it is one that paid off in his favor, big time, so hey. Ling is great, though, and his relationship with Ed is amazing, a+++. I definitely love him.
Maes Hughes --- MAAAAES, RIP. I’m pretty sure Maes Hughes is one death that anime fans as a collective will never be over (however much we may make jokes about it sometimes). Particularly since Brotherhood made the mistake of rushing through to the point of divergence in the beginning, it always feels like Hughes died too soon. But the truth is that, no matter what, he did. He was an excellent husband and father, and he was a father not only to Gracia, but also to Winry and the Elrics. He was always, always there to support Roy, and however much Roy might have felt annoyed by the constant long phone calls at times, the fact that Roy is so severely affected by Hughes’ loss so late into the series . . . I mean, he doesn’t get his revenge on Envy until the very end, and when he does? Holy hot fucking damn, he’s downright terrifying. (I mean, I love it, but jesus fucking christ.) But anyway, back to Hughes himself, he was just such a sweet person and his life had such an impact and he just knew too much too soon. He was too smart, he had to be killed off so that the plot wouldn’t be solved too early. I know that, but it still hurts, and Elysia crying at his funeral will still slaughter me every single time, fuck.
Alphonse Elric --- I feel kind of bad for having Al so low on this list, but make no mistake---I do love him! It’s just that I find his scenes / subplots a little less compelling than the characters listed above him. I do think he’s wonderful, though; he’s a complete sweetheart, and though it happens less often than it does with Ed, there are times when Al has a snarky little sassmouth on him as well, and those moments are always delightful. Also, he, too, had to deal with a lot of bullshit over the course of the series. He damn well does deserve his happy ending.
Maria Ross --- Maria is so underappreciated in the fandom, and like---I get that she spends the majority of the series off-screen because she had to go into exile in Xing (since she was framed for Hughes’ murder), but at the same time, she’s so good! She acts like a stern big sis for the Elrics (which they need at times, tbh), and she’s loyal and dedicated and hardworking and smart. I love her relationship with Denny, and I also love how she came back for the final fight, and this was a surprise to Mustang, he didn’t actually make this choice, she just did it and ajsldgjdsagda. Maria is great, I love her.
May Chang --- Honestly, this post (written by someone else) says everything about May that I could ever say and more. I love how well-developed she is, how she’s allowed to be feminine but is still focused on her goals, and how much depth there is to her character. May is absolutely fantastic. Princess of my heart, tbh.
Olivier Mira Armstrong --- And finally, the QUEEN OF THE NORTH HERSELF. While Olivier is obviously a badass who takes shit from absolutely no one, I love that she’s still allowed to be a person outside of that. She’s not vulnerable in the ways that’s expected of her, but at the same time she doesn’t abhor femininity either (and in fact, the expectation that she would is what she and Roy take advantage of in order to communicate without arousing suspicion). She cares deeply for her team at Briggs, you can tell she’s deeply affected by Buccaneer’s death, and while she’s frustrated by her brother and doesn’t really respect him, it’s clear that she also cares about him in her own way as well. Yeah, she takes command of the Armstrong family manor, but that’s because she had to in order to sneak the Briggs soldiers in, and she didn’t want to put responsibility on Alex’s shoulders that he wouldn’t be able to handle. (I mean, like, no offense to him---he obviously came through in a big way and she sees that later---but from her perspective, he left the battlefield during Ishbal, so therefore combat and combat pragmatism are not his strong suits, not in a wartime situation. She didn’t want to put him in that position, so she didn’t. She handled it herself. She did so in an abrasive way, yes, but I still think she had compassion for him at heart.) Olivier defies expectations and shatters them into pieces. It’s why the soldiers at Briggs follow her without question. I love her, she’s great.

Élan Vital - PokeEaster
Élan Vital (literally ‘Life Force’) is a Kalosian Holiday that was quickly adopted by the rest of the world and picked up by Acreans to show their thanks to The Goddess of Life herself, it originated in the times of the Great Kalosian War and the Ultimate Weapon; a memory of the sacrifices made by Pokemonkind during the war and the efforts of Xerneas to help repair the land after it was all said and done.
Élan Vital is a celebration of Fertility and Life, of Peace and of the change from Winter to Spring. In time it has become a children’s holiday what with the egg hunts and chocolate and Vitae Bunnerys. It’s meaning is often forgotten nowadays though there are still places, especially in Kalos and Sinnoh, where one can find Xerneas themed sweets and dolls.
Big thanks to @siilverveiins for helping me with this headcanon!

Addicted to coolrom pokemon? Us Too. 6 Reasons We Just Can't Stop
Help keep up with the balanceLike prior Pokémon games, Emerald issues you to get, trade, and fight Pokémon. Summary: Like earlier Pokémon games, Emerald problems you to collect, trade, and fight Pokémon.
A city example: Mauville has changed so very much since the original games it's barely recognisable, becoming Hoenn's version of Castelia or Lumiose. Lugia is also fairly prominent in merchandise and marketing related to the games and their linked film Pokémon: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages thanks to its popularity in Pokémon Silver and gold In ORAS, it's an "extra" Legendary Pokémon special to Alpha Sapphire and does not have any bearing on the main plot (Ho-Oh, which acts as its counterpart in Omega Ruby, didn't have the same kind of advertising and didn't come in the movie). Sequel Hook : As well as the Battle Frontier still being built by the time these games happen, it's revealed at the end of the Delta Event that Steven will be asking Wallace to dominate his role of champion after he goes to travel all over the world, which can be interpreted as a hint towards a feasible future sequel with a few changes from Emerald being put into the games.
Unlike the initial games this is averted for the Master Ball with the Team Hideout, akin to Emerald. If you show among the members of Video game Freak a Pokémon originating from the original Ruby and Sapphire, he'll give you a special certificate to display in your Secret Foundation. In the original video games, Wattson mentioned having programs to convert the entirety of Mauville City but was struggling to do so. Arrive the remakes, it appears he was able to finally achieve his objective as Mauville City has gotten the largest overhaul of any city in Hoenn.
While this pertains to every Mythical (i.e. event just) Pokémon after obtaining/completing the National Pokédex, it's more obvious here thanks to Deoxys arriving after Jirachi and becoming a catchable Pokémon (instead of the original video games where the 'Dex would end at Rayquaza for most players, with the two beng hidden without means of seeing them). To unlock them, you have to talk to a Hex Maniac in the northern part of Route 111's desert using the Mach Bicycle, a Bird Keeper near the Climate Institute at Route 119 using the Acro Bicycle and the moves Browse and Waterfall, and a Biker in the post-game only Fight Resort. While difficult to select them, the original Player Search Program avatars of the Kalos video games remain programmed into game to permit for backwards compatibility with Pokémon X and Y.
If you raised the affection levels of a Pokémon in Pokémon-amie, then traded it from X and Y to Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire or vice-versa, the Pokémon will still have the same affection for its original trainer if it's traded back. In the Aqua hideout, Archie had a photograph of him, Shelly and Jirachi used around twelve years agonote that would be when the initial Ruby and Sapphire were released, and claims when Kyogre awakens that he wished to take the globe back to its beginnings to make "that Pokémon" happy. Adaptational Villainy : Used in both games; In Omega Ruby, Maxie is normally a little more ruthless than he is in the initial games, seemingly not caring about Pokémon and wanting humanity to basically expand at any cost, and accusing Tabitha of attempting to replace him as leader when the Admin attempts to warn him against awakening Primal Groudon.
Schrödinger's Question : Upon beginning the post-game in Emerald, the Player Character 's mom is watching a news report about the sighting of a strange Pokémon roaming Hoenn, but doesn't catch its color and asks the participant what it was (between crimson and blue). Dual Boss : Emerald includes yet another Double Battle where in fact the player and Steven Stone team up against Magma Admin Tabitha and Magma Leader Maxie at the Mossdeep Space Middle. Deoxys' forme is dependent on what video game it is encountered in (Regular in Ruby and Sapphire, Acceleration in Emerald), while whether Latias or Latios are fought via this technique is dependent on how the Schrödinger's Issue the player's Mom asks in Emerald was answered.
In Ruby and Sapphire it's strictly post-game, while in Emerald you can go grab it as soon as the battle between Kyogre and Groudon has been resolved. Notice The Game Boy Advance had backwards-compatibility for the overall game Boy Color , but its link cables were unable to connect both systems; coupled with these data framework redesign, there was no way for importing or trading Pokémon from Gold, Silver or Crystal to Ruby, Sapphire or Emerald. These games could be the biggest case of 1 Game for the cost of Two in the franchise, as there is literally no chance to legitimately collect all 386 Pokémon without aid from FireRed , LeafGreen , Colosseum , and XD (Oddly, just Ruby or Sapphire).
In addition to introducing a fresh tale and region to explore and over 100 new Pokémon to catch, Ruby and Sapphire brought with it many new gameplay features such as for example individual natures and Abilities for every Pokémon, dual battles, and Pokémon contests. If you still need even more, spend time on Route 110 building it up. After that, cruise back to Mauville City juiced up, and mind for the Gym. Games are leaf green, sapphire, fire reddish, ruby and emerald.
Pokemon ruby, emerald and sapphire re-printing boxes with game boy advance cartridge good shape be flat packed for great postage. You might ask, if Pokemon Crimson, Blue, and Yellow are on eShop currently, and Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire exist, why bring these video games to the eShop? As Ruby and Sapphire curently have remakes, they may be forgone in favor of Pokemon Emerald, which has features not present in R/S or their remakes, such as the Battle Frontier.
In Ruby, the participant could only capture Groudon , while in Sapphire, the player could just catch Kyogre In Emerald, both Legendary Pokémon can be caught in separate caverns after defeating the Elite 4. The main antagonists that the participant faces are Team Magma and Group Aqua , which differs from Ruby and Sapphire where one team was the antagonist and the other was the protagonist, trying to stop the other group. The overall game is an improved remake of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire , increasing the third generation of Pokémon games.
Having exhausted my duplicate of Emerald 1st, then Sapphire, I've experienced a fair bit of time with this particular generation (The best Pokemon game overall continues to be among Crystal and the more recent HeartGold). But the remakes will possess a lot more in keeping with Ruby and Sapphire than Emerald in the manner they will split Team Aqua and Team Magma between your two versions. It depends. There have been broad hints that the Battle Frontier will become returning in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire; not to mention, there will be substantially more Pokémon to fully capture in the late game.
The combination of Pokémon's diminishing popularity, the lame rival (Brendan and May don't even get around to evolving their starters in the initial), pokemon emulator the fact that the region was unusually water heavy, and various missing features conspired to create Ruby and Sapphire something of a black sheep in the series for a long period. Like the GBA itself, Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire embodied the awkward middle point between the original Game Boy and the revival of interest in handheld gaming as a result of the Nintendo DS. Certainly the tale in Emerald has about as very much driving force behind it as a bike without pedals - you actually move because you are asked to. On the way you get caught up in the filthy doings of the eco-conscious yet somewhat sinister Groups Aqua and Magma who are trying to awaken warring legendary Pokémon Groudon and Kyogre because of their own mischievous ends.
Extra geek points go to players who manage to ‘Capture ‘Em All', although with nearly 400 of the little buggers to get it isn't as easy as it used to be. Therefore Pokémon was in '96, so that it is usually in Emerald and so it has gone to be in later games. That's not to state that the formula is not a great one, it's just looking for sprucing up. For anybody that have been living under a Geodude since 1996 this is one way a Pokémon game falls: starting in a small town your character is provided a Pokémon and promptly units from an epic adventure to fight and catch monsters in Pokéballs, then teach them and battle to the Pokémon league by defeating the region's 8 Fitness center Leaders. Unfortunately Emerald had not been the game to carefully turn everything around; instead simply because an amalgamated companion to Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire it had been more of a stopgap between two generations of RPG's.
(there have been multiple printings of these games, earlier printings did not have as many security features.) the plastic material should not be as transparent as ruby sapphire emerald. Two-versus-two battles, which seemed a throwaway addition in Ruby and Sapphire, are actually a regular occurrence - individual Trainers gang through to you, and you could even get together with the odd GBA-controlled character for appropriate cooperative fights. We like having the vast majority of the Ruby and Sapphire Pokemon imprisoned in a single cart, we like the wireless capability and we just like the new Battle Frontier, but couldn't we've had all this to begin with, instead of for another 30 notes two years later?
Players who've already soaked up everything Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire have to give you will most likely appreciate the largely subtle changes Emerald makes, thanks to the "gotta capture 'em all" mentality bred by the series, though it's unlikely to do a satisfactory work of scratching the itch for an all-new Pokémon adventure. Ruby and Sapphire were great-looking GBA games when they first came out, though Emerald places in small effort to improve the quality of the images, giving the overall game a slightly aged look. However, Emerald's biggest weakness can be that a lot of hardcore Pokémon players currently played through this adventure when it was released as Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire.
39 She also included Emerald (alongside Ruby and Sapphire) in a list of Game Boy Advance games that she wished to see on the Nintendo 3DS ' eShop. A man whom players encounter many times throughout the game will eventually allow them to access the Fight Frontier after defeating the Pokémon Little league Champion. Pokemon Emerald is defined in the land of Hoenn and may be the remix of Ruby/Sapphire.
The native Hoenn Pokédex in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire & Emerald features 202 Pokémon, 135 of which are new.

This is something @mydvstiny (Zak) and I have been plotting for a while. Its sort of "Post Alola-Mean while Au". (Calm Before Storm Au)
When I saw Ash going to Alola with his mom and literally no team rocket I got so excited, and of course my angsty train of thought made me imagine this whole "meanwhile" scenario while Ash was in Alola and what was going on with Team Rocket back In Kanto.
Sort of like how Pokemon Chronicles showed what was going on with almost anyone Ash had met in his life.
Anyhow the Au goes something like this.
While Ash is in Alola training and in school, Team rocket went back to home base being Kanto, and Giovanni makes them stay there to use what they have learned from the other regions to further the advancements of them to "take over the world" and capitalize in the way. (In Season one we saw that some people were already terrified and knew of them so i`m basing my self of that)
Slowly they started taking over towns, and gyms. While not to a public eyes more and more Pokemon Centers, Police Departments and many professors begin close down shop. Kanto being the first region to fall under complete Team Rocket Control, later spreading to Johto and Hoenn. With more people deciding to not fight it and just join it in fear to avoid the confrontation.
Since James, Jesse and Meowth have been in every region so far, they know where the stronger enemies are, and who to target. While not actually telling Giovanni they begin to target anyone that Ash had any relationship or had some importance. One because they know that if anyone could stop them it be one of the second hand twerps, and two in case Ash came back they would have a bargain chip.
Whenever Ash calls home they have Delia play it off as if nothings wrong, one of them normally hiding behind the camera. She knows how dangerous they are and while not exactly faking it for her own life and safety its more for fear as to what they would do to Ash.
After Giovanni finds out that they were actually taking hostages he finds Delia, and that`s when Jesse tells him everything about Ash and how he was always foiling their plans no matter how bad they tried to keep him away.
When Ash finally returns to Pallet Town its a ghost town. Closed shops, empty houses and almost little to no life. Professor Oak`s lab`s shut down and that`s when he began to notice something was wrong and ran towards his house with had the door unlocked, as usual but upon walking in his stunned.
Sitting in the dinning table were James, Jesse and Meowth which caused him to run deeper into the house demanding an explanation. As he does the door closes behind him and he turns to find Giovanni closed it.
Meanwhile those that were able to escape the taken over regions take refuge in Sinnoh and Kalos, alerting everyone of what`s happening and that they should prepare for the worst.
Basically a Post Alola war and take back situation i`m not that great at explaining things pft.
I`d love to get more people involved in this cause it`s a more dramatic, and action taken route then the normal Pokemon Au`s.
It could be a way for many Characters to interact with one another and while the basic end of the Au is that they take back the regions and Team rocket goes into hiding, the in between is up to complete person take.
If anyone`s interested it would be amazing and this au actually has place for oc`s. I only ask they have a Pokemon verse, they aren`t meta or overpowered and that they have a clean about page and rules.
