Oops Help I need a Place to Live

SO due to some wildass circumstances with our apartment owner, I woke up this morning and discovered I need to move out by the end of February

if anyone in Toronto knows of someone looking for a roommate???

I know that it's a bit sketch looking for housing on tumblr but HEY that's how my recent roommate @unfortunatebedhead found me so it's worked out so far!

(this isn't a super emergency in the sense that I'll be homeless, I'd just need to move back in with my folks but if there are OTHER options...)

Ok maybe I'm obsessing a little bit I just noticed something else interesting.

When Cooper is watching his old film at the SD Mart, lost in his reminiscing, he imitates his character in the infamous scene he struggled with so much due to the sheriff killing for the first time. And when he does this he uses "finger guns"....except....

...Lucy took his trigger finger. And if you look closely you see the moment he realizes and snaps out of his daze to regard it thoughtfully. Just for a fraction of a second. You'd almost miss it, especially with the gloves on. But he VERY deliberately folds the empty gloved digit in half, emphasizing its absence further.

What do you think he is thinking in that moment?

Personally, I can't ignore the potential symbolism behind the juxtaposition of these two pivotal moments in his life. The way he watches his former, *human* self in the very scene that transitions him from the lawful sheriff to a darker character (one who kills), foreshadowing the loss/reshaping of his moral compass. Yet simultaneously becomes distracted by the loss of the very thing that represented that spiral: his trigger finger.

When he loses Barb he loses faith in the goodness of both himself and others. His world literally falls apart and everything boils down to the bottom line of the wasteland: kill or be killed. You can't trust anyone. It's becomes an inevitably etched in the stone of his heart.

But now he's met Lucy and she's surprised him. Made him question things. This woman for all her naivety and sheltered way of life did not react as he assumed she would. Instead, she proved strong enough to survive while managing to hold on to a part of herself she deemed important.

And maybe, just maybe the loss of one thing could gain him another in the future? Perhaps Lucy will help reshape his outlook once more. Restore his faith in a faithless world.

Does losing that vital piece of himself and quite literally having Lucy fill its absence portend things to come?

"What's the matter?" Daryl asked, coming to stand behind you as you stared into the scant closet. His body landed flush against yours and his hands pulled your hips back into him more tightly.

You sighed. "I don't want to go to this stupid event. How is it possible there even are fancy events anymore?" you asked. "It just feels wrong..." You turned in his arms and your hands landed on his sides. He gripped your hips more firmly, more securely. "And you have to work security, so I'm going to be by myself. I'd feel a lot better if you were going to be with me, right next to me."

"Yumiko will be there," Daryl reminded you, trying to sound reassuring.

"Yeah," you said vaguely. "They didn't even give me a choice. I understand why Tomi was hiding his medical degree. Just because I had a stupid, fancy degree in the old world now I'm stuck orbiting around all these assholes..."

Daryl chuckled and you looked up at him and met his blue eyes, which were narrowed slightly in a smile. "S'just one night. It'll be okay. And I'll be close by."

"Yeah," you sighed again. You turned back to the closet. "Help me choose something to wear?"

"Mmm," Daryl hummed. He left his position behind you and stepped forward to the closet. He shoved most of the hangers out of the way, reaching for one specific item of clothing. He held it out to you, clearly proud of his joke, and you smiled. It was his vest, leather arms stitched on for the cooler weather so it was a complete jacket.

You couldn't help laughing at his joke. "Babe... I don't think it's up to the dress code. They said semi-formal."

"Hmm. Alrigh'. Put one of them fancy dresses underneath it," he retorted, still smirking.

You grabbed the hanger from him. "Somehow, I don't think it'll fly... but I tell you what—maybe I can save it for later tonight when it's just the two of us. You know... as a complete outfit." Daryl's eyebrows lifted.

"Ya better not be teasin'," he drawled.

"I would never joke about something like that," you giggled.

IT IS TIME. The 6th annual United States of Science Challenge begins NOW. It's Skype a Scientist's biggest annual fundraiser to help keep our program running!

Each bubble on this map represents classrooms we matched w/scientists over the last year. $10 donations fill in bubbles. The first region to close all their bubbles wins!

Skype a Scientist matches scientists with classrooms, scout troops, libraries, and groups of adults for Q&A sessions with scientists, but that's not all we do. We bring science in person to events around philly, run the squid facts hotline, and share science via street art and murals. And of course we answer science questions and share about cool animals all the time on social media.

We offer all of our programming for free, so fundraising campaigns like this are the only way we can keep offering this program! If you're able to spare $10 to fill a bubble, please help us fill the map!
