She was trying not to talk too much at all, knowing full well that the staff had a schedule here and he really didn't have the time for idle chatter. How she had managed to find any time or even the money to join a book signing was well beyond her at this point. Maybe she would have to cut back on lunch for a few days... But it would be entirely worth it when she had a signed copy of one of Howl's books. She considered herself more of a fan of high fantasy than of historical fiction, but someone had passed one of his books to her one time and she'd been hooked ever since. It wasn't the accuracy of everything that really got her, though. Characterization and the humanizing elements of it all were really what had drug her into this world.

And she knew she had to look strange, standing there in the midst of all of these history buffs and conspiracy fans with her Gatito ita bag packed to the brim with CAT pins and Mr. Mew keychains from Gatto Nero. Wearing street clothes and knowing absolutely nothing about history besides what she was taught in school and the occasional fun fact she found on social media, if it was even true. She had a mild interest in it, but she did feel severely out of place in this setting. Like she didn't belong here...

But that wasn't anything new.

She almost wondered if he'd pointed out his own oddity to help her feel better. She was sure she must have looked as pale as a sheet right now.

There’s that post that’s like ‘everyone should get into a tiny niche fandom at least once’ fully agree, that was really fun -- but I would like to add that everyone should get into a fandom where their opinions run counter to major fanon because it really teaches you about sticking to your guns and trusting your interpretation of the text without having to rely on peer validation

Sorry to be that person, but "girl math" doesn't mean "girls are bad at math". It's a way of saying "how many women use math irl"

Like "If I get hit with armor, it doesn't count because my health remains the same"

Or "I returned $30 and spent $5, that's a net positive, so I basically got this for free"

Not that girls literally don't understand math and don't get that things cost money. It's a simplification of thought processes and analysis, actually implying high-level thinking, not "girls are so bad at math we don't even try"

I know, it's not that serious, but taken out of context it sounds worse than it is.
