Little update, the hat is complete! It isn't 100% accurate of course, but the hat and everything on it I bought second hand. My determination for a sustainable Arthur Morgan cosplay is unmatched 🫶

I'm absolutely obsessed with the watercolor sketchbook page u just posted!!! 💜✨💜✨
Do you do the linert first with waterproof pen, then colour it, or watercolours first, then pen? I want to refine my watercolor techniques, so looking for insight!!! Absolutely beautiful art, once again!!! 💜💜
thank you so much!!! ^-^ i'm kinda surprised anybody even liked the watercolor drawings lol, they're pretty far outside my normal stuff and i was kinda on the fence about posting them at all! :P
I use a fountain pen that i fill up with waterproof ink, do the drawing, then paint over it with watercolors!! my art's really drawing/line based, so it's a lot easier for me than doing the colors first, then inking!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
also i have a faq page that is currently being worked on by me lol, but eventually i want to have lists of supplies and the stuff i use there!

In our current society (in North America and much of the western world) we can't completely avoid capitalism, but with some work and dedication we can reduce how much we have to participate in it.
Building community is hard, and it often requires a lot of up front investment in time and energy before you start seeing returns on that investment. I know not everyone is in a place where they can make those expenditures without getting anything back right away which is why it's even more important for those of us who can to start building sooner rather than later.
When you have a healthy, thriving community of people you can start withdrawing yourself more and more from reliance on a broken capitalist system. Yes there's mutual aid within a community but what's even more exciting to me is the option of participating in a barter/trade economy because it's so often more empowering for disabled folks and other marginalized groups that struggle in a capitalist economy.
And even more importantly than that, it's how we can survive a political landscape that is openly hostile to us. It's as impossible to avoid the fallout of the current political situation as it is to avoid participating in a capitalist economy, but being part of a strong and healthy community can at least help mitigate some of the harmful effects.
Neighbours sharing produce from their gardens can lessen the chances of food-borne illness as a result of lax food safety regulations.
Creating, maintaining, and sharing resources that help marginalized groups can help protect vulnerable people in your area when the larger resources are being dismantled or when people acting in bad faith are pretending to be a helpful organization.
Communities have more leverage (and resources) when it comes time to put pressure on local government to make progressive changes
As communities grow, empathy and compassion for the people in the community also spreads and that can help create allies against the bigotry and prejudice some of the community members face. When you're in community together with someone it's harder to depersonalize them. They aren't [insert oppressed group] member, they're the person who walks your dog and brings you beets in exchange for piano lessons, or the person who loaned you a spare tire so you could go to work and when you got home that evening they'd fixed your flat tire for free because they had the time and some spare material laying around from a repair they did on their own tire.
It's going to be really easy to give in to despair in the coming months and I'm not going to lie and say you can survive it. Some folks won't. I'm not going to lie and promise if you can make it through that things will get easier, they might not!
But if you can hang on I can promise you there's a chance things will get better, and I can promise you there's a whole heck of a lot of us out there trying to make sure it does get better. I can promise you that building community will help you survive when things start getting harder, and I can promise you that community can be a beacon of light in dark times, a bastion of hope in a desert of despair.
I know you're tired and I'll understand if you can't keep fighting, but I really hope you've got enough resilience left to hang on long enough to find a community to be part of.

How do you declutter and choose what things to throw away or donate?
I've never really had problems with decluttering. Yes, I love collecting (mostly thrifted) cute stuff but I'm not attached to them emotionally and I'm not overly sentimental. People who saw me clean my stuff think I'm a bit heartless to be honest. Every smallest reason is enough for me to get rid of something. You could try answering these questions, and if the answer is no, or I'm not sure - don't cling to it!
Questions below
For clothes: Have I ever worn this since I bought it? Do I have anything in my closet to make an outfit with this? Do I feel like this shape/color enhances my natural features? Does it fit my current style (versus when I bought it)? Do I feel nice/cute/elegant/trendy/myself when I wear it? Does it fit my dream closet? If it requires mending, tailoring etc, do you think you can or will do them soon?
For books: Did I enjoy reading it? Will I ever reach for this book again? Is my library richer with this addition?
For craft materials: Does it fit my current art style and aesthetic? Is there any particular project or idea where I could use this? Does this represent my taste or my dream aesthetic? Is there anything else in this item except for objective cute look?
For trinkets and objects: Is there a particular place in my house where this fits? Does it match my future dream house? Does it match my color palette? If it requires flipping, repairing, renewing etc, do I have the time and energy to do it soon? Is it just objectively nice, or is it representative of my current taste?
Don't ever think about the past you that bought the item, but the future you that is using it. Remember that decluttering makes room for more cool stuff that you'll cherish much more! And really, stop with the sentiments. No, the item isn't mad at you, and the person who gave you this years ago isn't either. If it doesn't spark joy, give it away!

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Prompts : 1 - fallen angel (Maya) / 2 - coffee/tea (Grette) / 8 - rose (Clione, also the prompt I submitted) / 14 - psychosis (Belial) / 16 - book (Lavieen Rose) / 23 - fire (Gregor) / 24 - loneliness (Securett) / 25 - divine (Haku) / 29 - candle (Haku again)
My art school gave us an inktober assignment last month ! Fanart was allowed so I tried to fit in as much HSSH fanart as I could with the given prompts (which, fun fact, were all given by first year students). Bonus canon-divergent pages under the cut [part 2]

Last month one of my neighbors who appeared to be selling their house left a beautiful hardwood table in pieces on the curb as trash that had just. Had the MOST UGLY WHITE PAINT slapped on it in the most slapdash, hideous fashion you've ever seen in your life, which I assume is why they put a 35 year old cherry table on the fucking curb.
Anyway I rescued it and I need everybody to see my refinishing process photos because I am shameless and also extremely proud of this table (I've never refinished furniture before).
Look at my table!!!

365 DAYS OF TAROT LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOO
Happy New Year, comrades and welcome to Trin makes poor life choices! ✨🎃✨
So the thing is... fiber arts consumed me. Between the felting and the crochet, I have been creating at what is for me a breakneck pace - half a dozen sculptures, three separate painting series totaling about 20 paintings, three shawls, a handful of hats, dishcloths, and scarves, and a partridge in a pear tree. I averaged a completed project every two weeks all in the three years since I've been doing this, while struggling with a major health diagnosis and a move across the country. So let's ramp it up to 11 shall we 😈
Number of Days in a Year: 365
Number of Cards in a Tarot Deck: 78
Days to work per Tarot Card: 4.6
That's almost 2 cards a week. That's... probably unreasonably fast. If my partner were home to curb my enthusiasm before I scheduled this, they would probably say something along the lines of, "maybe for the sake of my mental health if not yours, please don't"
Okay look. A deck in a year is the dream. But it probably won't happen that way. We'll shoot for the stars and maybe I'll be too busy to think about the ten thousand ideas clawing for attention in my wooly teddy bear brain. Oh and before I get out of here and bleed my hands on this really smart idea of mine, please support my art endeavors.

Hello! Sorry if this is a silly question you've already answered somewhere, but I gotta ask! Do you dye the fabric yourself? The only colored aida fabric I can find is red, black or turquoise. I am obsessed with the color composition of your art and how the canvas itself adds to it!
Thank you and not silly at all! I don't dye myself, but the majority of my fabrics are by hand dyers! I always put the fabric I used in my Etsy listings but you can also ask here if you'd like to know a specific fabric! (it can be sometimes hard to find on Etsy as they're always moving the descriptions around)
I use a lot of fabric from BeStitchMe, Picture This Plus, and Fiber on a Whim, all of which dye on lots of different fabric bases.
I mostly use linen, jobelan, or lugana, but there are some awesome dyers who only do aida, like Witch's Garden Crafts, The Stitchy Ferret, and Oblong Meow.
I know lots of folks will dye their own fabric for fun with the ice dyeing technique, which is pretty forgiving and a lot of fun! I've tried it a couple times with some smaller pieces of white aida and it turned out pretty cool! You just need some fabric or floss (usually white), powder dye, a container, and lots of ice! (and probably gloves too). This can be a great technique to use on thrifted fabric that might be a bit stained anyway to give it new life! (just be careful not to wash it again unless you set the dye or the colors might run)

Back by popular demand- What if More Archivist!Martin AU!!
Here's how the Hill Top Road roommates were born!
(If you can spot all the spiders in each panel, you have sharp eyes)
Get your context below the cut~
Ok, first off, I adore all the tags in my first post about this AU, they make my whole day!!! I'm so glad people latched onto the silly roommates especially, so I figured I'd show how Martin found them!
~~~~~
Story (A bit of a prologue setting up The Web if you will):
CW: Spiders (but they are cute, I promise)
Martin was always a very isolated kid, he never made many connections with other people besides his mother. So when he came out to her after he'd turned 15, he had nowhere to go when she kicked him out of the house until he "came to his senses".
He wandered the streets, waiting until enough time had reasonably passed so he could go home and apologize to her. In the meantime, he found himself sitting on a park bench staring up at the swaying leaves on a nearby tree.
Then, he felt something crawling up his arm. And another something was creeping up his other hand. Looking down, there were two tiny spiders clinging to Martin, as if they were afraid he would throw them off. Which was ridiculous of course. Martin had always had a soft spot for little creatures and cooed to them softly.
"Hello little ones, where did you come from?" He giggled for the first time in... he can't remember how long, as the little critters waved their front legs in the air towards him. Martin wanted to believe they were trying to say Hi back.
Martin spent the afternoon distracting himself by watching the spiders roam around, crawling from hand to hand like an endless spider treadmill. They spun fragile webs between his fingers and Martin thought they were beautiful.
The sun set, but the two little spiders didn't seem keen to leave him, so Martin decided to bring them home with him. On the walk back, he came up with names that seemed suitable for each of them. If they were going to stick around, they deserved to be properly addressed. He thought about his favorite subject in school for ideas. They had just finished up a poetry unit and he was captivated by a few poets in particular. He looked down at the spider on his shoulder that had climbed up on him first.
"You seem like an Oscar Wilde type," Martin gently poked at the spider. The newly appointed Oscar looked offended, like it could give a sarcastic retort if it was capable of human speech.
"As for you..." Martin paused at the second one. It was sitting in a fold of Martin's sleeve, but poked its head out nervously at Martin's attention. "I'm going to call you John."
John Keats wasn't an especially inspired choice, Martin thought. But he was his favorite author at the moment. Something about his sappy verses drew Martin in like a moth to a flame, or a fly to a web.
~~~~~
Later, after Martin had settled into a long-term position at the Magnus Institute, London, his mother decided she wanted to be rid of him for real this time. She asked him to set her up in a proper care home, and left him alone in their apartment. Martin was neither financially nor emotionally stable enough to stay in the lonely apartment, so he left as soon as possible with his few belongings in tow.
Annabelle Cane found him. Martin didn't understand how or why for a long time. But he eventually assumed it had to be connected to his spider friends somehow. At least she was friendly enough.
Annabelle led him back to her house on Hill Top Road. And sure, he wasn't expecting to live in a house filled with roommates that kept worms and moldy food(?) in the fridge, or a barrel drum full of wax in the basement, or an attic coated from floor to ceiling in cobwebs. But where else could he go? It's not like he could live in the library at work.
Yeah, his new roommates were weird, but he soon realized that he liked them. They were rough around the edges, but he figured out ways to be helpful, to smooth them out. He painstakingly experimented to find out their preferred choice of tea, and even convinced them to join him for movie nights every weekend.
And everything was going well! Martin was enjoying his work in the library, and he actually felt stable for once in his life.
That is, until Elias Bouchard called Martin into his office one day...
~~~~~
OK I didn't mean to write a whole fic for this picture, but I couldn't stop myself pffff
All of the spider talk is 100% @lelouchootori 's fault btw ;v; I just thought it would be cute if the lil spiders I was adding to Martin's hair had lore, and they said that the spiders should have names, so it really spiraled.
Another tidbit! After meeting Annabelle, Martin realizes that she can communicate with the spiders Oscar and John. This causes him to talk to them a lot more (even if he can't understand them), especially in his Archivist office. I have a very specific scene in mind to make this a full-on office comedy:
Martin: What do you think about this creepy statement, John?
Jon (passing by his office door): What? What did you say?
Martin: Oh, sorry, I wasn't talking to you Jon.
Jon: ???
