I've finally decided on K.athryn H.ahn as a FC for his mother. I blame the series for it, but she just fits the vibe I have in my mind for her perfectly.

Still need to think of a name for her obviously: BUT enjoy the gifsets. Those solidified my opinion even more.

So, I fucking loved The Living Force, I found it to be one of the most Jedi-positive books out there, and look I can't guarantee you that you'll feel the same way, this book only gets the Lumi stamp of approval, not the "you'll definitely love this as a fan of the Jedi" stamp of approval, so take that as you will. But this book took such care to give the Jedi Council members different fun personalities, that even when Saesee was a total grump, he was a funny grump and one who clearly dove right into helping people, that even when it was Qui-Gon who issued the challenge, the book showed it as an excuse for the Jedi Council members to take some time off to go do what they were choosing to do, that their good acts were their own, not Qui-Gon's. This book took such care to give moments to the Jedi discussing why they put their efforts where they did and showed that they all loved helping people, none of them felt this was beneath them for a moment, only that they felt they could help more people by doing their regular Council duties most of the time. The discussions they had weren't about castigating themselves, but about discussing where their balance should be, that their work as a Council was always seen as necessary, that they very much did need to look towards the future, but that they as individual Jedi sometimes needed a reason to do something more individual. Because of that good-faith feeling in the narrative, other things also came off really good-naturedly, like Ki-Adi-Mundi often was stilted or just did not understand the point of some of this ridiculousness, but he was never painted as uncaring, but instead very much came off to me like he was on the spectrum and that that was fine, it was part of the feeling of how each of these characters is allowed a different personality and allowed to see duty and the Force and their lives differently, that there was emphasis put on how the Council prized those differences because it helped make them stronger.

And the author clearly had an absolute blast writing Yarael and Even Piell especially, they were hilariously fun and there is SO MUCH FUNNY BANTER, like there's so much friendly teasing between characters, there's so many little moments that show these people care about each other and have fun with each other, that there's no doubt that this Council is full of life and light. I also really enjoyed Mace and Depa's dynamic, that it's clear he cared about her and still worried about her, but he trusted her to take care of herself, that Depa's part of the storyline was a bit more subdued in a lot of ways, but she was thoroughly competent and trusted to understand what she was getting into. Mace does fuss over her a bit in the end, but she's strong enough to stand up for herself and he takes it in stride because she's a Jedi Master now and knows what she's doing, that she's trusted to be right about what's going on and how this should be handled, as well as her deep care for the people she gets involved with around her.

The only real heads up I would give (other than to caution that the opening chapters might make you side-eye a bit, but I ask a little patience with the book) is that it's in a specific worldbuilding genre, that it's not really about the spiritual aspect of the Jedi Order worldbuilding, but instead more about administrative worldbuilding and the action plot. But if you're into that (and I was so into that because I love worldbuilding detail!) and into the Jedi Council being hilarious and getting time to basically take a vacation, then I hope you'll enjoy this book with me, too. I know what the interview from the author said, but honestly I felt none of that with the book, it felt like a story that really understood the increasing complexity of the galaxy around them and that there weren't any easy answers, that the future does matter, even if so too does the present, that what the Council does as a Council is vital to the good work the Jedi Order does, but that this provides them with the breathing space to balance it with their own individual ways of being a Jedi, which is simply giving them some breathing room and letting them flourish on their own!

Genuine and fun lil analysis: Sluggle would be confused when first meeting Allo since she hasn't seen another sea angel for a while, but she'll be quick to realize he's just another friend. (Although she probably doesn't realize he was human before instead of sea angel before.) She'd probably be quicker to label him with a parental term than others due to being a sea angel as well. The only drawback is she will try to nibble him more often than others because of her minor lack of smarts, try to keep her from being poisoned like the dumb-dumb she is.

If youre curious as to how Lumi (Sluggle's unofficial mama and the big leviathan) would react to him she would be friendly as usual, though she would find a kinship with him for knowing and possibly taking care of the "Little Dear".

you shouldn't have been missing her. it's been months since she left and you should be over her by now. denial isn't something you should be experiencing, it shouldve been over. you should be at the acceptance level from the stages of grief.

maybe it's your fault because you knew she'd leave teyvat, all the memories that were made here, friends...

well, of course, you weren't an expectation for her. hell, when you admitted your feelings for her, she even told you not to gain feelings for her because it'd be all for nothing. the moment she reconnected with her brother, she would be out and then exploring a different universe elsewhere. maybe she'd even forget you and fall in love with someone else. or take on a different persona with gray hair and yellow eyes. ok... you sound crazy, but you are sane, kind of.

the questions began to spiral in your head. would she even remember you? all the dates-

would she even call them dates or just hangouts?

-you've been on with her, she should have, right? would she tell aether about you? would aether approve of you if they had stayed in teyvat?

the fondest memory you like to revisit in your dreams is when she took you underwater in fontaine. just once, you spoke about the ocean and how you saw illusrations of it, wanting to see it at least once. she said, "i remember you saying you liked the ocean. so here we are..."

"aw, lumi, you're so sweet! i love the beach." you replied as lumine shook her head.

"ah, i mean, come with me." she extended her hand, offering you to take it. you were confused,

"what?"

"just take my hand."

as the sun shines on the both of you, you and she stood on the beach, her shoes were getting encrusted with sand while she waited for you to take her hand. after all, obviously, she wanted you go into the ocean with her.

"you want to go into the ocean? i can't even swim, lumine."

"just stay close with me."

she's definitely someone out of this world because someone who's normal would've took you out to the aquarium. maybe you're happy that she's not normal, she's definitely charming. but then you start to wonder if she's always this charming. the way youve seen her captivate others, what if you're not the only one? if she's able to capture your heart so easily, did she with others?

placing your hand with hers, she quickly intertwined her fingers with yours, pulling you closer. "okay."

the memories get more and more hazy as you thought about it. you dug your face into your hands, you have to get over her. she's gone and there's nothing you could do about it.

(placeholder) Zen AU, drabble 1

Benta stepped lightly through the woods, which were surrounded by a perimeter he deemed safe. It included a rather ample expanse of land, such as the nearest empty city and its parks, as well as a stretch of wilderness and the routes nearby.

He was headed to the main clearing to check on his son and his friend Lumi. If...they could really be called friends. He knew the two of them met fairly often, but quite a few of their outings ended in arguments. More than Benta would like. Surely the other pokémon's mother wouldn't approve of that..?

All the same, he knew Zen wanted to be around the others. Having no other "mewtwos" around like himself made the boy want companionship with them. Benta knew he filled certain roles and holes in his son's life, but...fortunately, unfortunately, not that one. Not truly, in the way he understood as a key factor. Being that he was born and not made, he did not feel as though he could relate to Zen on that level. But, these others could.

So, he decided to allow the children to have their outings and simply look in on them from a distance from time to time so they could have their space. The cautious mother- whom he had never seen but did in fact notice- evidently had the same idea.

As long as Zen behaved, was duely careful, and expressed a desire for their presence, Benta planned to leave them be.

However...things did not seem to be going well at all today.

The older pokémon sensed a strong rise of distress, and the first thing he saw from where he stood among the trees was Lumi snarling at Zen. And all he heard were three words.

"You're a MONSTER!"

His son's sharp spur of internal pain stopped Benta entirely. Something inside him briskly and abruptly froze him like a shot. From here, he could feel the panic of the child's mother rise for having sensed it too. Lumi had gone too far.

Benta's eyes flashed in the shade.

That, he thought with a growl. Is Unacceptable.

Zen stared wide-eyed at Lumi, stunned as if the wind had been knocked out of him. He was mentally shaken, but, most of all...he was hurt.

Badly.

They had arguments and spats before over more than a handful of things, but...this one had gotten way out of hand. Then Lumi said that, and Zen was swiftly overwhelmed by all that implied. And all it resurfaced too...

Should he have seen this coming..? Probably...?

What...was he supposed to say...?

Suddenly the pressure in the atmosphere dropped, and a shadow fell over the young 'twos as if it had appeared out of nowhere with a gust of wind. Zen saw the abrupt shift of expression on Lumi's face into one of fear, and promptly looked back to see Benta towering over both of them, his right eye gleaming as cold as ice.

When did he get here?? Was he in trouble?? "D-dad, I--"

The much larger pokémon deftly stepped around Zen, raising a hand to silence him while he glared down at Lumi. "You are calling him a monster?" he asked lowly. As he approached, Lumi shrunk down and moved back with his tail fluffing out in uneasiness as his tone briefly shifted to a growl. "I promise you...You don't know the meaning of the word."

Benta lowered closer to Lumi's level, his muzzle scrunched without baring his teeth. He did know better than to show his fangs to a child, but that didn't mean he was any less angry. "The real monsters have taken everything. They still take everything. They are why we hide," he went on. "Their eyes and actions wreak of blood and nothing else. They consume all before them. And they have no feelings. No morals. No regrets. No remorse."

He picked up his left hand from where it had been hidden beneath his cloak, revealing that it was entirely robotic up to his shoulder as an unnatural synthetic limb. And he balled his hand into a tight fist as Lumi's eyes widened at the horrific sight of it. "All they want is control, even if it means sacrificing the free will and lives of others," Benta told him.

"I have seen those monsters, and fought them and their wretched pawns with my own hands until I was close to death," he growled. "I know Zen has made mistakes by their hands that he is not proud of. But until you have seen them yourself and stared that death in the face--"

Benta glared sharply into Lumi's own eyes. More than aware of the fear coming off of his mother in the distance as well. "You have no right to call my son a monster."

Tears welled up in Lumi's eyes, and his heart raced as he felt the intensity of the older pokémon's own hurt and anger.

It was too much for him...

He turned and fled, back to the other mewtwo who appeared and waited in the trees with bated breath until Benta straightened up and let his hackles fall. After all, with his origin, as well as strange and later augmented abilities, he was arguably stronger than she was. Any kind of fight between them would become dangerous very quickly.

Benta had no intention of pursuing or harming either of them, though. He did in fact know better, and didn't want to actually incite a serious conflict. Instead, with a final glance back he simply turned to leave, giving a decisive flick of his tail to instruct Zen to follow.

Zen was in shock himself, somehow having never expected Benta to follow him to one of his and Lumi's secret meetings. All he could do was curl his tail around himself and follow after him quietly with his gaze focused squarely on the ground. He didn't want to make his dad any angrier than he already was.

But still...

I'm so sorry, Lumi...

The two of them walked in silence for some time on their way back to the city, and all the while Zen couldn't make himself speak, and spent the silence wringing his hands uneasily. He was unable to bear the thought of meeting his adoptive father's disapproving eyes. Though, when he did manage to lift his gaze, he couldn't help but let it drift to Benta's back, and his left arm...

Of course it was synthetic now, but, it hadn't always been that way. The truth was, he lost that arm well over a year ago in a bad fight. And it had him laid up for weeks. Maybe months.

In fact...just like he told Lumi...it had almost been fatal.

And Zen was the one who did that to him.

When it happened he wasn't in his right mind or fully in control of himself, as a result of the humans that stole him from Benta as a cub. Nevertheless, and in spite of everything Benta had expressed to forgive him, Zen still hadn't forgiven himself. Even now, he felt utterly sick. About that, and everything his dad said to Lumi.

Mostly, because he didn't see how Lumi could possibly be wrong.

Zen's pace slowed, and before long he stopped and sat, curling in on himself without a word and burying his head under his arms.

Of course, Benta noticed and came to a pause. And he turned back to go check on him.

His tone, unlike earlier, was much softer. It wasn't filled with anger anymore like Zen expected, and was rather edged with concern. "What's the matter?" he asked carefully. "Is it because I interfered..?" When his only response was a subtle shake of Zen's head, tried again. "So...what is it then..?"

A moment passed, and Zen could only curl tighter on himself. A muffled sniff told Benta that he was crying. He took a deep breath and sighed, crouching down and bringing his tail forward to curl around his son's back. "You do not deserve to be treated that way," he said, referring to Lumi's initial insult and guessing that might be the reason. "I hope you know that."

"...yes I do," Zen whimpered, responding to the first part. "He was right, and you know it..."

"No, as a matter of fact I do not," he stated calmly. "What happened was not your choice. And I would never blame you."

"But why?" He looked up at Benta, his face wrought with grief. "It's not like I couldn't have stopped, and I didn't. Not even once. Not even when- w-when it was you," he cried.

Benta pulled Zen close and hugged him to his chest with his better arm. "Yes you did..." he said, quietly but confidently. "If you didn't, I would not be here. Neither would Lumi, or his mother."

"But--"

The older pokémon gently cut him off by hugging him tighter. "Stop. No 'buts.'" When Zen seemed to accept that, Benta continued. "You should not blame yourself for what happened when you were under the control of those who only wanted to use you, and forced you into thinking and acting in ways that were not right."

"I know that is hard to accept..." he added. "But I do know you better than you do. And you are not the monster they wanted you to be. You are free again to make that choice now, and be yourself. The you that existed before their influence. I know you can. And I know you can do better, and try to make amends for those things if you want to." Shifting back a little, he lifted Zen's face to meet his gaze. "However, you never have to apologize to me. I can be here for you again and protect you. That is enough. Okay..?"

When Benta let go, Zen rubbed at his face and feebly nodded, trying not to think about his claws. "But what about Lumi..?" he asked when he found his voice again. "I want to be his friend, but he'll never forgive me..." Now that he thought about it, his mom might not either.

"Sure he will. At least, eventually..." Benta assured. "Children tend to have a harder time understanding things than adults do, but in spite of what he said, I think he will be able to come around someday." When he felt as though things had settled enough to move on, he stood up and gestured for Zen to follow.

"Who knows. Maybe the next time you two meet he will have changed his tune," he added.

Zen snuffed and rubbed at his nose as he stood up too. "You got really mad at him though..." he pointed out.

"Yes, yes I did," Benta sighed as he cast his gaze to the side. "I will be owing his mother an apology for being hostile toward her young, even if it was deserved." He certainly couldn't deny that. "Though, for now, I believe it is best we give each other a proper distance."

He waited for Zen to come up beside him so they could walk together, and carefully placed his left hand on his son's head as a loving gesture. Even though it was only metal and circuits, somehow it was still warm.

"Now..." Benta said with an exhale. "Let's go home."

no but i can totally see jeongyeon loving what nahyo have but also being nervous to intrude, especially with how her and jihyo started off on the wrong foot but watching nayeon give jihyo her little lesson abt jealousy definitely helps improve it

jihyo has been trying hard to like jeongyeon.

jeongyeon's loud laugh still scares her, but she was sure she'd get used to it just like she did with nayeon's. jihyo's ears are sensitive, but she still finds it the cutest thing when nayeon laughs loudly, and punches her shoulder, so maybe jihyo could accept jeongyeon being loud that as well. after promising to nayeon, jihyo really started to try and accept jeongyeon as a whole.

the thing is that nayeon was never a nuisance, and jihyo never had to learn how to like her. even when she was still getting used to living with nayeon, jihyo has never felt bothered by nayeon's unique personality, always head over heels for her. sana and momo, nayeon's friends, never scared her either, so jihyo didn't know why jeongyeon triggered her that much. apart from her being jealous of jeongyeon with her owner, that is.

after weeks trying to accept jeongyeon's presence, jihyo would still go after nayeon when her owner had to answer the door. jihyo could sense jeongyeon's presence from afar, and she had to check her scent each time, so that she knew there was no threat and jeongyeon could go inside their home with her approval.

"are you going to do this every time?" jeongyeon asks jokingly, not moving an inch while jihyo reached closer, sniffing her clothes.

jihyo moves away, happy with her little research. jeongyeon still smelled like jeongyeon. nothing different, which meant there were no threats that jihyo could sense or other people's scents in her. jeongyeon's scent was strong and present, one of the best jihyo had ever found in a human. nayeon's was still better, sweet and acidic just the right amount. too bad that jihyo and mina were the only ones with a sense of smell sharp enough to notice those things.

"she likes it." nayeon comments, pointing at jihyo's wagging tail. jihyo quickly tries to prevent her own body from exposing her feelings, but the attempt is useless. "what did you bring for us?"

"pumpkin pie for your sweet puppy," jeongyeon says, charming. jihyo looks at nayeon and pouts. jeongyeon was cheesy and only nayeon could call her puppy. maybe sana too, but it always made jihyo flustered and nayeon didn't like it one bit.

"don't say that. 'puppy'. that's for me only." nayeon pats jeongyeon's shoulder. "let's get inside, sana and momo are here already."

jeongyeon frowns but accepts nayeon's request. jihyo moves to sit on sana's lap, a bit bored after playing with mina and momo the entire evening and not being able to put together the lego figure that was supposed to be formed once all of the pieces were in place.

"hey there, cutie," sana coos at jihyo, allowing the puppy to rest on her lap. jihyo could be clingy, and that's when she was the most adorable. at least that's what sana always thought. unlike mina, who could be very picky at times, jihyo was always up for a good cuddle.

nayeon was setting the dining table by the time jeongyeon came from the kitchen. for jeongyeon's luck, sana gets called by mina to help her and momo with the legos, and jihyo no longer has her warm lap to sit on. instead of waiting for nayeon, jihyo looks at the only lap available, and it happens to be jeongyeon's.

"'m going to sit here." jihyo states rather than asking. jeongyeon is taken aback, but she certainly doesn't refuse jihyo's approach, letting nayeon's puppy sit on her lap. "you're warmer than sana," jihyo mutters, her head falling back against jeongyeon's shoulder, body relaxing.

it is certainly a surprise for nayeon when she goes into the living room and finds jihyo sleeping on her best friend's lap, ears twitching and tail swishing softly, as if she's dreaming. she looks at them fondly for minutes and almost forgets to call them for dinner.

After that she became much quieter, and adults often remarked on well-mannered she was. It was the first time she observed that people seem to like her more when she's not talking. As a result of this and an ever-growing sense of bitterness towards Absalom's aristocracy, she actually decided that she would become rather talkative as she grew older, and that she'd speak what's on her mind rather bluntly. She's not one to bother with pleasantries and she'll usually say exactly what she thinks of anyone as long as it's not pleasant. So, she is one to mingle at any social gathering, but she won't be very popular for it. In truth she finds her inability to get close to anyone rather frustrating, but she does it as a kind of defense mechanism and it has become very difficult for her to behave in any other way at this point. 🧡 Who is your OC’s favourite person? He's slow to anger, and in general, he usually lets logic rather than feeling guide his actions even though his logic might be more chaotic than his feelings. Tyrel has always had to be in control of his emotions because if he let the wrong one slip during a con, he could have landed himself in big trouble.

It is 1622.

Soon after Cordelia and Tom’s wedding, Cordelia gets pregnant.

Cordelia’s husband gets it and dies. Cordelia catches it as well, but a miracle saves her.

In our main household, Sybil and Baelon get sick as well and die. The shock is enormous for the family. Lumi, Oak’s sister, comes to visit to offer condolences and support. She has lost her own husband to the sickness as well.

Tomas comes to visit Ophelia. He hugs her while she cries and helps her cook for the family. Ophelia thinks he is such a good young man.

Despite the loss of her sister Sybil and twin brother, Ophelia finds solace in the fact she still has her older sister.

In 1626, Ophelia ages into a young adult. She is a genius, outgoing and a foodie. She has discovered the past few years she enjoys cooking.

She has come a long way from throwing all the food to the ground as a toddler.

In 1627, Tomas is invited to the family. Ophelia thinks they are properly courting and wants to properly introduce him to her parents. They sit in the garden while Brenden watches.
