Typing Tips That I Stumbled Upon Randomly:

The Ctrl key lets you jump between words really quickly. If you hold Ctrl and press the left or right arrow keys, instead of moving your cursor 1 character you'll move it a whole word; if you want to edit that word that's 3 words back, you can just hold Ctrl and left-left-left, and you're there.

Even more useful in my opinion, if you hold Ctrl and press Backspace you'll delete the entire word you're on. That's just really nifty because a lot of the time when you're deleting you want to delete the whole word, so this is much faster.

Also, idk how well-known this is but holding Shift and moving your cursor will make you highlight any characters you move over. That's useful on its own, but combining that with Ctrl lets you quickly highlight whole words or sentences, so you can easily copy+paste them. You can also hold Shift to edit any selections you made with your mouse or something.

Also it took me too long to realize that the Home and End keys are actually really nice sometimes. Home takes you to the start of the line you're on, and End takes you to the end. Hold Shift while doing that and you can highlight the whole line. Very nice for programming. Also holding Ctrl and pressing Home or End takes you to the top or bottom of the page, but I barely use that.

A similarly useful key that I also overlooked is the Delete key. It's like the Backspace key, but it deletes the character in front of your cursor instead of behind it. Just like with Backspace Ctrl+Delete lets you delete a whole word in front of your cursor.

Also Ctrl+A lets you highlight the whole page.

Also even when you're not typing and instead just browsing a web page or something, you still technically have a cursor; if you click a piece of text, then hold Shift and press the arrow keys, you'll start highlighting text.

Practice Exercise: Click on the t in this word, then hold Shift and press left and right on the arrow keys! Now try holding Ctrl+Shift while you press the arrow keys! Hold Shift and press Home or End! Hold Shift and use your mouse to left-click on different spots in the paragraph and see how your selection changes!

so I'm making a full satyr costume and my intention for the hooves was to more or less follow this guy's concept, with the hooves on a hinge (not pictured but he explained that they're also attached from the top center with elastic, so they don't fall too far downward), and I like this in theory because it preserves the way the bottoms of platform heels are curved for a more natural gait, where a lot of Hoof Shoes build a platform onto the bottom and make it completely flat

... but in practice I WAS intending to make my hooves out of apoxie sculpt, and I am a LITTLE concerned that if hooves like this made of a hard solid material instead of soft eva foam swivel down too far and catch on the floor when I'm trying to take a step I'll eat shit and break my neck

May I present, my attempt at illustrating the last four pages of Tevinter Nights. 😁 (Also, the first time I'm posting art on here!)

As the whole thing was quite literally too long to post on tumblr, I uploaded the full version on a customized site made for reading webcomics (via ComicFury). On a personal note though, I can't believe I actually finished it... As it had been a *very* long time since I drew (and finished) anything, let alone a 31 page comic and reading Tevinter Nights again finally sparked my motivation (and the courage to post it lol). So I want to thank Patrick Weekes for helping me overcome this massive art block and over two decades of Case Closed mangas for inspiring me how to draw an overly dramatic "exposing the imposter" moment. 😂 I tried my best to be as faithful to the book as possible and it took me forever, so... hope you like it! :D

FINALLY FINISHED MY QPHIL 3.0 DESIGN HOORAY (cant wait to. redesign it again in like 3 months.) (CHECK UNDER THE CUT FOR MY SILLY DESIGN NOTES!!)

I think I said this before but i so. SO BADLY wanted him to have a sleep theme since I always loved how his presence on the island was kinda up in the air. Is it a dream? Is it not? When he goes between the island and hardcore is that change really happening? Who knows.

The idea of making his usual outfit more like a housecoat was super appealing to me, so I opted for this open housecoat look with really heavy frills which were super fun to figure out, and I knew from pretty early on that I wanted to give him a quilt pattern SOMEWHERE on his design, so I thought the inside of the coat would do nicely for a sorta "default state". It also meant I could attribute meaning to the symbols and colours I used. wink nudge.

He has a more subtle angel theme, like with the mobile on his walking stick being a halo with the wing placement further emphasizing this, as well as just his generally lighter colour scheme. When I say sleep was his theme I almost more-so imagine it as like. The feeling of waking up in the morning where you're mostly refreshed but still a LITTLE drowsy. Lots of very spring-y, morning colours.

Just some other quick notes, I always really liked the mod in the server where you could have the crows perch on your shoulder and follow cuz of the lantern, so I thought it'd be fun if I made it so brian just straight up WAS the lantern. So I made him look like one of those wall outlet nightlights!! The backpack being kinda cat shaped was COMPLETELY unintentional but a very welcome result. Missa backpack is real.

As for the alternate outfits, I have a bolas one, as well as an ender king one since I deemed those two the most important. For the ender king I weirdly don't have many notes, like it's fairly straightforward (Save for the elephant in the room but now I'm gonna keep my secrets on why that's a thing). The Quilt design is supposed to be a lighter, easier-on-the-eyes version of the no texture pattern, and I imagine that all the goop and gunk on Phil is hidden under the coat. I imagine it'd look fairly similar to canon so just like. imagine it for now. Might draw it one day. MAYBE. There's some tiny additional colour symbolism but I'll hold my tongue on that and let you guys draw your own conclusions there. I WILL say, however, that instead of his theme being sleep, his theme is "nightmare" (and also kinda sleepwalking since both fit).

The Bolas design was SUPER fun to work with. For starters I wanted the three designs to be in three different states. One with the coat, one with the coat reversed, and one without the coat entirely. Since I wanted to do the checker pattern thing with the possession design, having the sleeveless bolas design worked really well for the shape I landed on, even if it wasn't conventional. and SPEAKING of non-conventional design choices, I decided to go against the usual plague doctor + gas mask fusion design. Which might be controversial... But god. The moment I thought of his mask being a falconry hood, the idea just wouldn't leave my mind. Because of this, the full mask is kinda separated into two parts. The eye mask which kinda also mirrors his usual sleep mask, and the gas mask itself (I kept it in a beak shape since it'd feel odd if i made it any other shape for phil, lol). When designing the whole thing I kept thinking about more apocalypse setting clothing. Like mad max. Or the one gag from that one spongebob movie. Lots of leather. And of course, to match the other sleep themes, the Bolas outfit's theme is "fever dream", although its a bit more subtle. It's easily the weirdest design, The pops of green were simultaneously in reference to the friendship emerald... As well as... Well, the green chain right below the chain on the sickness themed design was probably the most tasteful way I could've chosen to get across vomit without it being too on the nose. (also sidenote, I had a few friends compare bolas phil to... a fly. Which wasn't intentional but it's kinda funny that the guy designed after fever dreams looks a little bit like a bug.) Ok thats it for design commentary I'm gonna go to bedge nyow.

do you ever miss not being obese? i'm so turned on all the time watching my body grow fatter and fatter but there are also times that i miss my mobility. im debating between letting go of all control and finally giving in to becoming totally immobile vs. losing a little bit of weight to make things easier lol wondering your thoughts on this xx

The things that I miss the most are just because the world isn’t built with someone my size in mind, like I miss roller coasters for example; but it’s not because I miss being skinny, it’s because I wish I could do everything I want to do.

what is the biggest type of dragon in your dragonrider setting? conversely, are there any that are too small to ride that might serve other purposes? i'm interested in the extremes.

also, how intelligent are they?

they get pretty big. i haven't fully ironed out the size classes but pictured here is a matriarch (gold dragon analogue) being escorted by a much smaller class (foreground) as they fly over a river valley. the matriarch acts as a mobile radio tower/traffic controller for her brood (as does the crew on-board). with extreme high aspect ratio wings and six jet runes her flight is almost effortless.

i haven't decided about the smallest ones just yet because i'll be so real i did not care for fire lizards in pern and preferred to think more about the dragon & rider dynamic. i'd say the smallest is like what you see pictured here in the fg.

they are extremely intelligent; the ability to harness electromagnetic waves and the jet runes themselves are all draconic in origin, and these technologies were shared with humans, who could replicate them using their own manufacturing expertise. i guess it might be easier to think of the humans as the dragons' kobolds lol - fun little guys who enrich the dragons' lives and contribute their own expertise (medical techniques, materials technology, agriculture and so on). it is a symbiotic relationship, the dragons are given equal representation in governing decisions etc

Help a Disabled Friend (and her service dog)

It's day one of Disability Pride Month (literally, july 1st is when Disability Pride Month lol) and I'm already struggling to get things that will make my life easier. The mort important thing on this list is a mobility harness for my service dog.

if you don't know, I have neurological problems, dysautonomia, and ehlers-danlos syndrome, and they are the most problematic for me because of the motor/mobility and digestive issues they cause. While I'm doing all that is medically possible for the digestive issues, the motor and mobility issues are basically not being dealt with.

I have a service dog, and part of what he does is help me with walking/standing/getting up/getting down, and that's lovely, but I do not have an appropriate mobility harness for him-- which would be sturdy and built specifically for differences in weight, pressure, etc, and have a rigid handle. In the past, I have used a secondhand mobility harness but it lacks the correct handle. I would strongly prefer to use a safe, sturdy harness that is built for my needs and my service dog's safety.

I also need guide attachments for this harness so Heathen (my service dog) can do better at guide tasks at night and during very bright parts of the day. The feedback of a pullstrap isn't quite enough.

With all appropriate options, this harness costs $349 USD.

The guide handle I need is $71.

I have $50 in my paypal account to put towards this, and being on SSDI, I only get paid once a month, and not much-- $1311. 500 goes to my mortgage. Most of it goes towards caring for my service dog and paying medical bills, and it really, really is not enough. I have literally tried appealing to SSA to raise my monthly payment, but I've been told that is not a thing they even entertain.

Please, if you can, help me get this mobility harness. It would mean a lot more mobility and freedom for me, considering my wheelchair is still damaged and my insurance will not tell me yet whether they approved the repair or not.
