There was a fruit that Laios wanted to eat.

Not to be found atop a bushel on the streets of a bustling market, nor to be served as an appetizer at an upscale restaurant.

This particular fruit was one of a kind���locked away in a garden, access reserved exclusively to only a select and chosen few, hidden within the brush of a storied grove.

Given his notorious taste for the most bizarre ingredients literally cut fresh from a dungeon’s depths for the simplest of meals, such a specific and normal craving was rather astonishing.

But Laios didn’t want to simply partake in this specific fruit.

Rather, there was this cavernous base urge to hunt down this fruit, scaling whatever length of tree as needed to seize–to lunge if needed–the delectable treat with his very own hands, dragging his tongue along its surface for an indulgent lick before sinking his teeth in for a juicy mouthful.

He didn’t even care to wash or wipe the fruit down before feasting away. Any speck of grime and dirt would only add to the flavor–if anything, imperfections on the purity of this snack served to stir his appetite all the more, a deep-seeded hunger that had gnawed at him damn near endlessly at this point.

However, attaining this singular delicacy was not going to be easy in the slightest.

While his monthly pay of coin for his services as an appointed guard to the care of the kingdom’s princess was nothing to scoff at, he wouldn’t be able to even attempt offering to buy this rare fruit.

For it was less about accumulating enough wealth and more about how he was forever shackled to the circumstances of his poor, humble upbringing.

Fated to be barred from this fruit’s taste, he was instead made to linger around the perimeter of the garden that housed this delectable treasure, to always be within reach but bound to have his hand chopped right off if he ever thought of plucking this sweet for his own famished desires.

It was a conundrum surely, one that he–reluctantly–had made his peace with for some time.

Up until a sudden shriek from afar suddenly shook Laios free from the serenity of his continued contemplating.

On a day like any other, he was to escort the princess to the outskirts of the kingdom to oversee the crops of the imminent harvest. His upbringing as the son to proud farmhands made this visit feel akin to a homecoming. He was always happy for the chance to see his parents along with–if lucky–his sister Falin should she be home from her continued studies of the arcane arts. Though, he was most thrilled at the prospect of offering facts of the natural bestiary and the gaminess of their meat to the intrigued ear of the princess.

Your ear.

And while you, the queen to be, were usually so happy to take in well of knowledge that Laios had to offer, he couldn’t help but notice on this particular day that there was this anxious energy that seemed to shadow over you like that of a bride veil, one that simmered beneath your usual graceful demeanor.

Having been under his guard and protection as his charge for years at this point, you trusted him deeply. He knew this to be undoubtedly true.

Yet there was something about your behavior throughout the day that demanded solitude–any opportunity to be alone, you were quick to take. And while unlike the stuffy and pushy advisors that often fussed over every breath you took within the castle, he respected your independence as an individual, seeing you for who you were rather than the shine of the crown on top of your head.

Still, as your bodyguard, he couldn’t allow you to stray too far away from him.

And yet for every step he took to close the gap, you only seemed intent on maintaining distance.

It was puzzling certainly, and while he wanted nothing more than to gain further insight as to what brought about this odd change in your attitude, he was far more worried with your current wellbeing.

His feet carried him as far as he could, past the vast fields of crops all the way further out past the farmlands. He cursed at himself for letting you out of his sight, all while wondering how you managed to give him the slip in the first place.

However, he would address that matter later. For now, he was set on finding you.

While his familiarity with the immediate area served as a reassuring foundation for his search, there was now the facet of determining just where you would have wandered off towards. While he took into account where you–adorned in frills and jewels–realistically could have made it out to within the time span since he last saw you, he thought back to any places of interest where you most likely would have gone.

His amber eyes quickly scanned across the horizon–either a pond that wasn’t too far out into the distance, a road that one could follow to a neighboring farm, or a somewhat maintained path that led to a field of white flowers.

The faint, distant sight of ivory petals immediately caught his attention and reignited his memory.

“–and besides supplying various cheeses for the wintertime fondue, this region’s other key offering is none other than the lovelily!”

Laios was all broad smiles and pride as he concluded his explanation.

You were all twinkling eyes and curious as you repeated his last word.

“‘Lovelily’?”

Happy for the chance to elaborate further, he proceeded to mime out the shape of the flower (horribly) with his hands. “Yes! The very same flower once used in ancient rituals for fertility–now it’s more commonly used for love potions! Potent ones at that! You know, as I think about it, I think the stems tend to not grow that tall…”

As his focus shifted more to the accuracy of the height of the flower that his hands were representing, he didn’t notice the way that the curiosity in your eyes soon changed to something far more calculating.

But of course!

His destination determined, Laios jetted himself forward towards the field of lovelilies–a sea of white blossoms that stretched far and beyond. Gaze darting around for any sight of you, he continued to shout out your name as he rushed through the vast spread of flowers.

Lovelilies were used for love potions for a reason. Their signature pink pollen is potent with aphrodisiac effects, making them the ideal candidates for their prior use with fertility rituals in times long since past.

By this point in the season, the flowers were harvested of their pollen by local apothecaries, so he at least had one less thing to worry about.

Still, just an immediate scan around the field yielded no sight of you, which only deepened his already heightened anxiousness.

Up until, at long last, he heard the muffled response of his name as he approached the center of the field.

Immediately he gazed down, and like an apple that had fallen from the tree, his eyes came across a rather deep ditch in the ground.

Deep enough to house you right within its depths.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Laios immediately dove in for your rescue. As he landed on his feet, he looked forward. Given the time of day, he still had a decent amount of light shining down within the darkness of the ditch, blessing him with the sight of you sprawled upon a bed of lovelilies. Joyed relief quickly across his features as he called out your name once again while he knelt before you.

“Are you alright–?!”

“Sir Laios!” You gasped in relief, even as your voice quivered so. “Please forgive me for leaving your sight and causing worry! I–!”

Laughing jovially, he held up his hand and waved it from side to side. “Worry not, princess. A little curiosity never hurt–”

It was at the second push in the air by his hand that he caught sight of a familiar shade of pink that floated by his face.

He immediately froze, soon realizing just where you had landed in: a ditch of unharvested, fully pollinated lovelilies. 

Tension gripped him as fiercely as he held onto you upon scooping your body into his arms.

“Princess! Hang onto me and hold your breath!”

You did as told, scrambling to wrap your arms around his neck while he worked to haul the both of you out of the ditch, all while doing his best to avoid inhaling the pollinated air as well. While it took a bit of maneuvering, a few slips while clawing at loosened soil, he was able to securely bring the two of you back onto solid ground.

However, with one issue handled, he was immediately checking over you in a flurried panic, his hands cradling your face while his mind raced back to what usually consisted of typical symptoms of lovelily exposure.

“How do you feel? Any pain? Discomfort?”

His palm pressed against your flushed cheek, a notable warmth permeating off of your skin. Before he could examine further, you meekly spoke up in response,

“I think…I may have hurt myself when I fell…”

You shifted your leg forward, wincing as your voice trailed off, your breathing becoming shallow.

And it was that expression of pain that had him quickly springing to action once again.

Formality, order, manners–all were immediately consumed by ferocious protective instinct as Laios seized the hem of your dress skirt and yanked it high up and over his head. 

He sought out for any sliver of blood or purpling bruise, his gaze darting along your leg for possible injuries sustained.

Higher and higher, his eyes continued to trail upwards.

All the way until his focus shifted towards right between your thighs.

Hues of soft pink caught his gaze, a notably sweet scent drifting by his nose.

There, spread all across the fabric of your panties with a few dustings along your inner thighs was a thick layer of lovelily pollen.

Though he was relieved to see that overall you didn’t seem to be significantly injured by your descent into the ditch, he once again found himself stuck in place.

With his attention captured by you, he watched as you brought your hand to the front of your gown, seizing at the material while you gasped out, also seemingly at odds between coherent thought and bodily desire, “It would seem both of us are sweltering in our respective attire.” With your other hand, you reached down to cup his chin, smiling sweetly at him, flustered and all. 

“Shall we do something about this heat together?”

Laios grabbed at your hand, bringing your palm to his lips before pressing another kiss to your wrist as he breathlessly affirmed,

So uh... Earthspark Au idea

So you know how occasionally Starscream and Bumblebee somehow get paired together and goofy shenanigans insue? Like in IDW for example- Well take that but add some more shit to it- Like a lot more hand wavy magic shit to it.

Anyways spoilers for Earthspark Season 1, the whole thing. And also uh brain fart moment right here so its very rambly but I wanna try and get the main point across. I will elaborate it people are intrested tho.

Well I had a goofy au idea brainfart moment where after the events of season 1, the autobots and decepticons have to somewhat colaborate which each other to survive on earth. From finnaly freeing every captured Decepticon in the form of a transaction to get Starscream and his remaining seekers do an extended sweep over the entire earth in order to comfirm Dr Meridians death because oh boy his body mysteriously disapeared (And because Seekers aint called seekers for nothin, they hella good at tracking down anything that exists)

Other scheningans insue because Megatron wants to reconnect with his Decepticons and beocme friends with everyone- But like none of them are really having it, in fact the main motivator for any con is that they want to protect their new generation, the terrans, therefore they wont try and obliterate the autobots at every moment. This is specifically true for Starscream who literally cant exist in the same room as Megatron but gets absolutely swarmed by terrans the moment he is near them, most notoriously Hashtag and Twitch but mostly Hashtag.

And then there is Bumblebee, the mentor of the maltobots who will do anything to keep them safe- But not much can be done when your protégés are pestering the most dangerous Decepticon to ever Decepticon (Aside from Megs but he dont count anymore) So he has to just sit there and tolerate it-

Eventually though trouble arises once more and the maltobots have to fight for the freedom of their kind, now joined not only by the autobots but occasionally even a Decepticon or two whenever their expertise come into play, but the cons aren't doing it for the Autobots thats for sure.

Bumblebee is always with the terrans whenever he can be, but the five are more grown as each day passes, and far harder to keep an eye on, especially since the concept of war has been properly introduced to them. So when Starscream is there to provide intelligence or sneak stolen gadgets to Hashtag and Nightshade, Bee has to appreciate the weight the seeker unintentionally takes off his back. Afterall Starscream may be extremely dangerous, cunning and deceitful- But it certainly does wonders for him to be near sparklings.

Where the au comes into real play is when the threat of Dr Meridian resurfaces much to everyones dismay (Like pee paw willy over again).

The terrans and the kids are locked in tight combat, trapped in a very dangeorus and likley fatal situation of which they havent quite grasped the severity of. This time they dont seem to have the grace of Quintus Prime at their side as things look really grim, their only proper cybertronian assitance comes in the form of Bumblebee and Starscream who are forced to hold off the threat together the best they can before help can arrive. While the terrans do a great job of fighting alongside them as they have proved themselves plenty of times- It doesn't seem to be enough. All of them are left tattered, injuried and worse for wear- Particularly their two cybertronian gaurdians who had just taken on a fatal blow to protect them.

Quintus Prime, unlike the Maltos thought before, was with them, he watched them. He hoped, but there was little he could do, it was not like before...

But... There was a call, a plee. A promise of service. Not from the humans or the terrans. No...

Something else entirely- A presence akin to Primus itself- A spark, reaching out to him. Promising to protect.

Ah yes. The cybertronians. One of them had not yet given up yet, despite the fact he no long had functional limbs nor wings- It was present, nearby somewhere was also another presence, but so much weaker, so fragile and quickly fading.

No.. That couldn't work could it? They were already established sparks, born from the allspark directly-

Perhaps that could work.. Perhaps the Emberstone had a little extra light to give.

And so, from the rubble- Right as the enemy intends to strike another blow, two new protectors rise- And two new presences began to circulate between the thoughts and feelings of the Maltos.

I honestly just wanted to talk about two different alternate universes I've come up with and genuinely, I can't get enough of it right now- but because I've barely talked about one of these, I figured this would be a fun way to continue! (and the other one's new, but we're going to talk about it anyway-)

Fair warning! This post is going to get a bit long!

Internverse / Intern! Randy

So, for anyone who isn't already aware of this idea- it follows an alternate take on canon because why the fuck not, where Viceroy enacts a new plan to capture the Ninja. The plan is to use an internship program in order to have one of the students reveal the Ninja's identity- as Randy's poor luck would have it, he is accepted as an intern by almost cartoon logic (except for the fact he does know math and excels in it-). Unfortunately for him, he has to ride out the internship or risk revealing himself to McFist and Viceroy- at some point, things start connecting and we'll see what happens after that!

This is the most lighthearted it will ever get with my AU's (although this one was inspired from another creator!), because even my MLP AU is an angsty little bitch

The deal with intern! Randy is it's mostly my excuse to explore on a slightly more serious but fairly tame and soft outlook on the series- also because McFist and Viceroy should've had more screen-time with Randy as a civilian, it's just fucking hilarious to me- (and yk, mentor-mentee type thing with Viceroy, no I will not explain /lh). I feel this au might honestly be an actual identity reveal since neither McFist and Viceroy know he's a teenager (like yes they technically know in canon, but also this is my fic and what i say goes /lh).

Though, I'm going to cover an arrangement of headcanons and general infodumping for intern! Randy because now I'm hooked, oopsie lmao

Randy is a math prodigy! Does this have any true canon basis to it? No- but I'm going to write it anyway hahah, also just- you can't tell me he isn't extremely talented in music (though that's not as relevant)

His parents are extremely absent in his life- he has issues with other people trying to parent him because of this. In his eyes, they're going to leave him eventually except for the Weinerman's, they're practically family but he's also worried about being a constant nusiance

In no way do McFist and Viceroy know that the Ninja is a teenager- Viceroy's the only one who has made the connection that the Ninja likely changes but hasn't quite reached the thought of them being a teenager because that would be ridiculous

Howard isn't a very used character in this, but he still appears nonetheless- he's not an easy character for me to write, but unfortunately my tengu! Howard fic doesn't really count hahaha

McFist and Viceroy have Something going on but it's not romantic! Unless McFist wasn't married to Marci- then that's another can of worms, but we're not doing that here

Bash and Randy might honestly become friends because I said so,

I like to think the Sorcerer isn't a heavily major character in this, and simply stays in the background- not because he got defeated, but genuinely I just don't consider him important. I don't think he'd notice anything strange about Randy either

Randy is inattentive ADHD! I also have ADHD and so, he will be written with my mannerisms more than likely- one of his hyperfixations is video games and I'm still trying to decide what the other is. He also has RSD for ahems- reasons, you will find out why soon!

Randy is going to be staying at the manor with the McFist family because well, why not-

And then we have the new au! It doesn't currently have a name- other than the fact it's literally just an age/role-swap AU!

More specifically, we have a switch between Randy and Finja, as well as "Plop Plop"/Hinata and Howard- it's been done before I think, but honestly I'm hopping on the train as well!

General Role Swap Infodump

Randy and the First Ninja trade places (obviously-). Randy's clan fought monsters in general, yokai who were a threat to Norrisville and other lands- until the Sorcerer came into being. In the end, Randy was the last one standing - forced to bear witness to what was a literal massacre killing of his entire clan - and decided he would find a way to trap the Sorcerer into a prison of his own design. With the help of a magical artifact, he did manage to do this. A few years went by and he continued protecting Norrisville- until he was unfortunately cursed (or something, i haven't quite figured it out yet-) and bound to the Nomicon

On the other hand, we have the First Ninja (who's name is not being revealed yet-); set in a more modern timeline, debating if it's the same as Randy's or current time period- the First Ninja comes from quite a big family (he has eight siblings, but they're not all the same age!) and is attending Norrisville High School. He's kind of like a feral cat- he isn't too fond of making friends and the only one who puts up with his nonsense is Hinata, his best friend

Over the summer, First Ninja was chosen to be the Ninja- he manages to keep it hidden and unlike Randy, he doesn't go blabbing about it in his writing assignment. He takes his responsibility seriously, even if he isn't necessarily eager to have gotten the role

At first, he and Randy don't meet- it's either going to be an episode adjacent to the 13th Century Ninja, or it's going to be something entirely original! I honestly think Finja is likely skeptical of Randy's teaching methods but eventually they start bonding and things take an interesting turn after that

As for Howard, I don't think he's simply the guardian of the temple- He's bound to the tengu spirit and is quite literally immortal. He exists both within the Nomicon and outside of it, but he is essentially Attack Dog privileges. No, I will not explain right now-

Finja has extremely short patience. He's prone to sarcastic fits and would rather do Literally Anything Else, but he understands that the Nomicon chose him-

Uh, the Norisu clan run their own dojos and whatnot because I said so but like, with Finja's siblings- they've all mastered their own elements and due to self indulgent bullshit, I can elaborate more on this but in a separate post. Let's just say there's more to this AU, that's all I'm going to mention right now. I'm fixating hard and it is a problem

WHAT THE HELL EVEN ARE BOMBERMEN? (AN IN-DEPTH REIMAGINE AU LOOK INTO BOMBERMAN ANATOMY)

ridiculously long text dump incoming but i figured i'd finally go over some more technical stuff about the au. ive seen other people talk about their headcanons for how the bombermen work in-game and got a bit inspired since ive mostly been going over lore with my comics!

SO, WHAT ARE BOMBERMEN? true to most of the games, they are still robots in the au! entirely mechanical with no organic components. the vast majority of them originate from the former planet earth, now called planet bomber, but some models have been integrated into different planets (planet scrapheap for example) for specific jobs.

all bombermen come from "the original", Shiro, who was built by evil forces lurking underground on planet earth before it was renamed planet bomber. during his tenure as a reluctant minion of evil, his purpose was to create bombs for their efforts of subjugating the remnants of humanity on earth.

prior to his escape from the clutches of the evil forces, he looked very much like how he is depicted in the games!

WHY DO THEY LOOK LIKE HUMANS NOW? in the original NES bomberman game, the plot revolves around bomberman's escape to the surface under the belief that he will become human. the AU follows this premise, but more literally: although Shiro doesn't actually become an organic human, he is rebuilt to resemble their appearance more faithfully! thus, all bombermen that come after him retain that human-like appearance.

this applies to the human experience as well. they can cry, taste food, live like humans even though they are artificial. they're aware of the fact that they aren't human, mind, but the line is very thin for some! Shiro goes so far as to say that he's just as human as any organic one because of his free will and his ability TO desire to be human. but most are pretty normal about it.

BASIC ANATOMY STRUCTURE bombermen possess an internal structure intentionally designed similar to that of humans. their endoskeleton is practically 1:1 of a human skeleton, the only difference being that it's obviously metal. they possess significantly less "organs", with most of their computer components centralized in a single case located where a human heart would be. their central processing unit and memory cards are located inside of the skull, reinforced by pure steel to prevent any potential internalized damage. while ripping off the outer layer of skin takes about as much effort as it would to a human, you'll be hard-pressed to actually penetrate their head/skull. pain receptors are probably the most complex and delicate in terms of structure, essentially microscopic detectors found across the body like nerves. the part of the processing unit that recognizes the feeling of pain can be manually turned off if needed, but is usually left on so that the individual is aware of damage or something malfunctioning.

all bombermen have an antenna attached to their left ear. this is used for communication with others across distance, and is also used to monitor their surroundings! it can pick up movement, energy, and other various things. it's one of their trademark identifiers, and can also be used as a sort of ID for other bombermen, so its very important to them! to remove their atenna is like declawing a cat.

like most computers, their capability of information storage is limited. although usually equipped with multiple memory cards, many bombermen elect to move data/memories they don't need all of the time onto items like USB drives so they don't need to outright delete things. their sleeping routines are the most effective way for them to undergo defragmentation.

with resources on earth having been very scarce, bombermen are equipped to run on multiple kinds of energy. like most computers, electrical energy is the most common and widely used, but their synthetic skin is capable of taking in solar energy and a furnace "stomach" can transform eaten foods into chemical energy - think of the latter as burning coal to fuel a locomotive. the one thing they DON'T use however is oil. its seen as very volatile source of energy because it's not renewable. this means they don't bleed! there's no need for them to have any liquid circulation, so replacing parts is also easier in that regard since there's no fear of losing any potential lifeforce.

ASIMOV? WHO'S THAT?? they do not follow the three laws. they are completely independent. most bombermen lean towards being good-natured (if not with their own quirks), so murder of organics/destruction of their own kind is HIGHLY taboo. this doesn't mean they're incapable of making that decision, though.

WHO BUILDS THEM? this answer is a little more complex. early in the timeline, the only way to make a bomberman was to build one yourself. this was especially apparent during earth's final years before being renamed, as most of humanity had abandoned the planet after the evil forces were reawakened decades prior. as such, bombermen were short in number because the few remaining humans that were technologically competent were the only ones capable of making them.

however, ALL bombermen are capable of recreating their own kind. this was information originally given to Shiro by the evil forces so that, for whatever reason, it would be instinct for him to prevent the extinction of his own existence. when more bombermen began to populate the planet, they started to do the creation themselves since they knew everything they needed in order to accomplish it. this is where familial relationships become possible! many bombermen who create their own kind view their creation as siblings or children, and this carries over further into the timeline even when a mother computer meant to mass produce models comes into existence.

WHAT'S IN A TITLE? "Bomberman" is both a species and a title. while most common bots will refer to themselves as "a bomberman", very few have the privilege of being called Bomberman. this name is reserved for particularly outstanding individuals who are responsible for the protection of planet bomber, meaning only a few of them exist across the timeline.

so far these include Shiro (the original), Ivory (Shiro's brother and the protagonist for most of the games that take place on Planet Bomber), and White (the sbr iteration - his siblings get privileges by association but since he's the only cracker white bomberman of the group he gets the official title). depending on how development of the timeline goes there might be more...

WHAT THE HELL ARE PSEUDO BOMBERMEN? I actually addressed this question on my twitter with a funny little comic but i'll go a little further in-depth with the discussion here.

as the name implies, these aren't considered to be "real" ones for various kinds of reasons. bombermen become very popular to imitate due to how (in)famous Shiro becomes across space, but building a robot might not exactly be conventional for some people. this is where pseudo bombermen come in. anything from bomber-cyborgs, organically made bombermen, etc are all considered pseudo bombermen. the general rule of thumb is if it isn't a robot, it's a pseudo.

notable pseudo-bombers would be Max (cyborg), Shirobon from Jetters (alien), and the Bomber Shittenou (made from elements).

Before reeve's reveal in the fic and once moon fever was mentioned in the fic and how it affects those who have it, I had (and still do kind of have) this little theory where not only can moon fever mess up with you and throw in hallucinations at you, but can also affect your physical appearance as well... here it is!

fun fact: when I finished doing the silly on the left I called it a night and went to bed. Then the next day i finished putting on my uniform then came here and check the latest in the hollow tag, only to be jumpscared by a depressed old man that looks like he could die from sleep deprivation at any moment XD

(it also BRUTALLY debunked my theory but let me be delusional for a bit if you don't mind)

The reason why they have galaxy-like spots is pretty obvious, because it's MOON fever, I took it literally and got carried away. moon fever is of course related to jackawock but it could also be related to the moon and stars......and galaxies..... ye

the spots act kind of like vitiligo but not really since they follow a pretty specific pattern before making their entrance

sometimes and entire limb or more can be full of these spots, but it's not that common :p

they also have horns, because yes, horns are pretty cool B) (I have a little hyperfixation with horns if you could not tell)

jackawock shapes the horns for those who are bound to be cursed, if you get a set of horns that is like on the side of your head or prevents you from sleeping in a more comfortable position.... then it must suck to be you I guess xd

there are very few times the horns can be perfect to sleep with and not be a burden, but it's very rare

jackawock can make a human's appearance as fucked up as he wants it to be if he feels very silly one day, but a beautiful kind of fucked up

because of this, those who are cursed use illusion stones to help cover up their appearance in order to not scare others

the only downside to these stones (that I can think of atm) is that their effect only works during daytime, and wears of at night

because of this, it's best to sleep during the day since that solves the issue of being stuck with an unfortunate set of horns and help them to at LEAST get some sleep, it's like the horns were never there to begin with! :D

by the looks of reeve's design, I'm just gonna assume those who are accursed with moon fever all have eye bags under their eyes and look like they haven't slept in a g e s XD

the galaxy spots can morph into weapons like the example in my doodles, because it's cool B)

although I said the lil guy on the right's horns might be what reeve's horns could look like, I feel like the appearance of the guy on the left is what reeve would look like without the illusion stone, just a bit more fucked up looking..... just a small portion. A part of me wants to believe this theory could come true in later chapters (i'm delusional :3 :heart_emoji:)

alright enough of me rambling, after thinking about how cool and terrifying of a concept moon fever can be, at what age does it usually develop? cause if remember correctly, reeve's case started when he was still a teenager or when he became an adult (speed reading is bad for your memory guys), if that's the case then MAN he's been tormented by hallucinations for a long.. To answer one question for you and those on my blog. Vanessa and Reeve in Realm of The Forgotten are not necessarily dating. They are friends with benefits. RTF Reeve and Vanessa are both very sad 30-year-olds that hold immense guilt and shame and disgust and feel they share a responsibility with what happened with Adam and what happened after Adam was comatose. They view themselves as Lilith and Brutus. They're both very stuck in the past. They drink mead and get together every family gathering and then mostly write each other letters otherwise. They do care for each other, it's just...very much closely platonic, but also they are "comforting" each other. Plus Vanessa really really really wants a child and Reeve is willing to help Vanessa achieve that goal; He heavily isolates himself in his temple. He's a man that wouldn't mind relieving some stress.

I was finally reading Comfort Food and this paragraph grabbed me by the throat!!! Like adult Damian calling him mom just to cook for his baby brother and they're having a fun/pleasant time?? I NEED the DVD commentary

Biggest Brother Damian does all sorts of little nice and helpful things for his siblings but if you make a big deal about it and call it out he gets real awkward. XD He's like a brownie, he can only do nice things if no one's calling attention to it. (That's mostly a joke, but a little bit true that he's a lot better at actions than words. He is, in some ways, his father's son and not so great at the whole "using your words to express affection" thing, so he just does stuff for them instead. Like making soup! Because feeding people is a great way to show you care without actually having to talk about it much! See also: Damian throwing a granola bar directly at Tim's face when he's been on the computer too long without a break, because they get along better now but they don't get along that well.)

I was thinking about the fact that Dick's life has been totally upended, and how beyond losing his parents he's also lost a whole slew of other things that were familiar and comforting, and then thinking about parallels there with Damian having to adjust to living in Gotham/with Bruce (compared to Tim and Jason who were at least from Gotham already; Cass has her own complicated relationship with her childhood vs her time with Bruce that's kind of a different thing than just a change in culture). And that led to thinking about food, specifically, in that context and here we are!

And the great thing about doing an AU is that you get to choose if/how you want to incorporate canon and in my case I am BLATANTLY IGNORING all of the "Talia is a horrible, abusive parent" canon and letting her actually be a good mom, dammit. (At least within the bounds of her being a somewhat morally ambiguous comic book character. Good parenting is kind of a sliding scale in the DC verse, and particularly in the Bat verse.) She's not a perfect parent, but neither is Bruce (and they share some of the same parenting flaws! Like extremely high expectations for themselves and everyone around them, or weird ideas about what knowledge and training is and isn't appropriate for a child to take part in, or having very strong opinions on What's Best For Damian that don't necessarily align with each other OR with Damian himself and have definitely never been a three-way point of contention at any point during his childhood).

There's been some rough patches over the years, but by this point Damian is on mostly good terms with both of his parents, and while he mostly lived in Gotham growing up (after the point where he actually met Bruce, obviously) he did also split his time visiting Talia in various parts of the world for various lengths of time, depending on what exactly she was up to. (Yes, as he has acquired more and more younger siblings he has started bringing gifts back for them. He says it's because they won't shut up and leave him alone if he doesn't, but you know. Literally no one believes that.)

His phone call to Talia here definitely consisted of equal parts helpful instruction in what to do and deeply unhelpful commentary on the state of Bruce's pantry and what he does and doesn't keep stocked. Or honestly probably a lot more of her dragging Bruce and less actual help. Damian definitely just asked her to text him a recipe and instead she was like "Nope, phone call" and he only complained like twice about how a text would've been easier when she spent like five minutes explaining what not to use instead of actually offering a suitable substitution.

(This story also sent me down a rabbit hole trying to research what type of food different parts of the world consider "sick people food", a la chicken noodle soup in the US, and mostly consisted of me being frustrated that the first page of results was almost entirely the same list of a dozen things repackaged by different sites, and then it devolved into articles with titles about "what country's food will make you sick?" Super helpful, internet, thanks. I did find a big reddit thread that was somewhat helpful, once I skimmed past all the answers that weren't really an answer or didn't bother to say where they were talking about. And it's funny because it was a very minor detail that got glossed over anyway due to the POV involved. Whoops. But I have several recipes I want to make now?)

Swap au edition!

1. What would the plot look like in a swap au? Specifically, the characters swap personalities. How they came to develop such different personalities in the same circumstances? Who knows. You, probably. Specifically, Tubbo swaps with Wilbur (cause I thought that their morals differ the most.), Phil swaps with Ranboo (their attachment styles and powers do not match up at all. Imagine being like 100000 and still having social anxiety.) and the Blade swaps with Tommy. Ranboo got chucked in cause there are 5 characters in the fault crew and it didn't match up.

2. Who would you think would be the most complicated personalities to swap if you want to keep relatively similar plot points and structure?

4. System swap. The blood God spontaneously appears in Tubbo's head (without the voices considering the maddening effects they have on people.). And Jasmine, Rhodes and Rosalind end up in the Blade's. (Considering the voices' maddening effects let's just not count the fact that it would probably be horrifying being in the same mind as them.) What happens next? Tubbo and the Blood God therapy session frfr no cap? The Blade realising he can actually talk and resolve things with headmates??

5. Swap au but with the scp researchers and the fault crew. I think each character has a researcher that targeted them the most so they swap. (Ex. Webb and Philza). How would the story differ?

Okay the first 3 questions have turned into pages of response, so I’m going to break it up to have more time to really flesh that out. Because brain is whirring over that one. 

4. Tubbo would be fully overcome by The Blood God and potentially their personality would be lost permanently. Just full stop that’s what would happen. As we see with Tommy’s Red, The Blade has carefully honed the ability to ignore overwhelming bloodlust, whereas Tubbo readily falls into destruction when exposed. Tubbo hasn’t spent their entire life creating rigid mental barriers and bargains to chain a god, nor does The Blood God have any respect for them or their boundaries. The Blood God is rather miffed about the arrangement, given they’re now stuck in a vessel they didn’t choose, and a weak one that hurts themselves when trying to attack. 

I don’t think the voices are necessarily maddening. Somewhat analogous to intrusive thoughts and auditory hallucinations, which real people deal with, and in The Blade's case moderately manageable with good coping techniques. And the voices are literally bonded to The Blood God and a crucial component as the echoes of previous vessels so they can’t be separated. I imagine they very much would be in Tubbos’ head, though that’s again not much of a problem considering Tubbos’ kinda gone? The voices could even POTENTIALLY be their key to escape. Given they are The Blade’s foil, Tubbo is not at a lack for stubbornness, and could try to talk to the voices to convince them to help. Hard as hell? Yeah. Lying through their bee teeth? Definitely. Potentially taking years? Probably. But the voices can be swayed far more easily than their god can, and with enough time Tubbo could start up enough of a chant to catch The Blood God’s attention. Potentially a proper conversation could be set up, Tubbo willing to work with The Blood God where The Blade is not. 

Tubbo is, notably, uncompromising in their morals. But as a true soul compared to The Blood God’s Conceptual soul, Tubbo could fully renege on their promise in a way The Blood God can’t. And why shouldn’t Tubbo, that guy disabled them and is trying to use their body to murder people, muffin ‘em. And since The Blood God really only breaks out of control in sheer desperation to keep The Blade alive, and kinda loathes Tubbo, they’re kinda trapped in Tubbo. 

So, either Tubbo or The Blood God would get locked up in mental jail. Unforchie. But they’re kinda diametrically opposed to one another, and thus having a therapy conversation is incredibly unlikely. 

Meanwhile, The Blade is vibing. It’s so quiet all the time. (Almost...too quiet. Boring). But he is freaked out a little by his own unexplained personality changes, since the Hive mind has more merging properties. The Blade mistakes the traits bleeding in as signs that he’s losing his control. His first impulse is try to cut out everyone as much as possible. Magic system is weird here. The Blade is maxed out on the mental defense area, but also distinctly against a Conceptual. Human souls tend to be more powerful, and they could team up with the three of them to try and break through enough to talk to him. He wouldn't trust them in the slightest, but it's so quiet in his head now and he's used to constant chatter, and he is friendly enough, so eventually The Blade starts actually talking to them. Rhodes and Rosalind impress upon him that a system is to cover gaps, they need to work together, etc. Since they don't have a history of trying to control him, The Blade starts opening up to the idea. Though overall he's still very much adamant on usually being the one in control. He doesn't mind them watching and commenting though, since their conversations are normal, so he doesn't constantly shove them into the subconscious like he does The Blood God.

5. The April Fools role swap kinda covers this, at least for what the guys and flies would look like as Foundation workers and the employees as anomalies. There really isn’t one to one researchers for everyone. Dr. Blake plays a heavy role for Tubbo and Tommy, but The Blade and Wilbur don’t have associations. 

Anyway I think Webb and Philza dynamic would actually shake out almost the same, since it’s still binding a dad via contracts and Philza also has that cunning, patient streak Webb has. Which honestly is the point that they’re so similar. Philza would likely would enact the amnestic arc if deemed necessary, though wouldn’t be as reluctant as Webb because he would be more cocky about his chances of survival and anyway wouldn’t carry out an order he doesn’t agree with. 

Shall we say Rosalind and Tubbo switch places? They’re fairly similar in that initially naive point of view. However, Tubbo is very rigid in their thinking, and grow increasingly stubborn the more it looks like they could be wrong (see: investigating Philza). I think Tubbo possibly would double down on their commitment to the Foundation, convinced that they’re the good guys and the Foundation is necessary for the safety of the world. Tubbo would not help the anomalies escape, even once in the Hive, where the trauma would be treated similarly to Fault The Blade-Tubbo dynamic, with the dehumanization and trauma disguised as righteousness. Tubbo probably gets really nasty, since they can’t go full anomaly racist in Fault since they are one, but nothing would stop human Tubbo from going there. They’d constantly sabotage Rosalind/Hive thinking it’s what’s right. Rosalind’s morals aren’t nearly so strict as Tubbos’, and she’d given in far quicker. 

As pointed out in April Fools, Dr. Blake and Tommy both have expertise in escalating a situation while managing to come out unscathed. But however many awful things Tommy has done in the name of survival, he’s not cruel. Or more importantly, he’s not clever. Definitely could not manage the same manipulation Dr. Blake does, and she’ll see through anything Tommy tries. The UnCollected arc would be completely avoided, same with most of Tommy’s particular concoction of psychic damage. Dr. Blake still sees her manipulation as her only means of survival. If anything she only gets more desperate and vicious with it. Dr. Blake chooses to be a monster because of all the roles in the Foundation, it is only the monsters that are kept alive. Which…again, is not different from her Fault philosophy. 

I think she’d realize The Blade was getting her tortured, but not tell him so she knew so she could subtly that twist that guilt into making him an even more committed ally. Plus she’d absolutely control Rosalind, twisting her fright and panic into serving her. And Roslind has this I can fix her impulse, wanting to reach out and sooth the cynical, hurting mentor that’s helping her survive the Foundation. Almost as an assurance that she’ll never get to that place. I think it gets to that same Tubbo ride or die, but it’s one-sided. Dr. Blake feels a little bad about it at times, but she needs to survive and she’ll use whoever she has to. So she does the same with Webb, too, leaning into his more dad impulses in order to secure protection. It gets worse the longer it goes on, especially once they’re out of the Foundation and Dr. Blake keeps finding ways to justify why she’s staying (kinda like Tubbo does). The more distant the Foundation grows the harder it is. And yet she continues the façade of friendship even when it has less use to her with each passing day. And then Dr. Blake realizes she cares about Rosalind and Webb, and it’s terrifying. She closed herself off completely to survive the Foundation, and now that she’s out it’s really hard to remember how to be a person again. 

And. I prommy I've written so much on the big swap but I want to ruminate on it a lot. Lot's of potential. Much to ponder.

my crossover lore you ask?? how is knh palace in warrior cats?? WELL

our girl maomao, beloved, still does her posions and medicines! cant deprive her of her quirk! iirc there is a limited bit of medicine in wc and they have their shortages, but lets just say the knh location is abundant with herbs for an apothecary's usage!

and yes, she calls herself an apothecary bc her papa heard it when he used to be a loner and he just calls himself that now (so does everyone else, but healer / doctor are the main terms)

beloved maomao cant truthfully expierment with snakes and the likes the way she does in knh, but she finds her work arounds. for that reason she is an excellent hunter, being delightfully exceptional at hunting snakes and extracting their venom (how? who cares) to make unordinary cures and remedies :0 she keeps dead snakes and bugs around for harvesting when she needs them, and eats whatever is left over/expired (whether this is realistic doesnt matter at all)

She has like a million scars under her pelt bc she aggravates a lot of cats and loses plenty of fights, but they never hurt her too badly. simple scuffles and cuffs on the ear can get our meow meow to back off and watch her mouth (most of the time) the scars on her foreleg though are from her experiments :) ointments and such and whenever white/green/yellowcough breaks out, she's at the ready with tried and true methods, or something outrageous that only brave souls would try

(she willingly gets sick to test these remedies, but has since been banned from coming into contact with diseased cats alongside dead ones) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

now where does knh wc take place??? somewhere! that's for sure! no replacing any canon territories, there is no riverclan, there is no queen of england!

instead of a clan (bc it means something else in knh) the colony is called a palace, and it is like 4 times as large as a single wc clan would be! (imagine the lake / forest territories but they all belong to the emperor)

most terminology, laws, and roles are basically the same, still have our emperor, his younger brother, the consorts and the likes im thinking splitting the locations within the palace by direction like in canon, so one clan would equal one court, but all 4 clans are the palace and the area is usually referred to as such. there arent as many disputes bc the whole thing belongs to the emperor as for the rear palace? canonically it exists beside the actual palace, so idk! we'll figure that out later (or never)

starclan exists but its not a monolithic colony, so there are quite a bit nonbelievers but no one is splitting hairs over the fact

i think the only things that would have to change is some story elements and locations obv. like verdigris is a twolegplace colony that resides in the town near the palace, with the madam (grans) being only one of many leader types within it

verdigris is overrun with cats. there are people but not many, and the cats live in abandoned houses, sewers, old buildings, farms, etc!

maomao was born in verdigris, but as we know, her father isn't from there. Lakan is from the palace, specifically the eastern court! maomao has never been and as far as she knows, she has no father. Grans told her the cat that helped birth her disappeared and probably got eaten by dogs :) maomao has no reason or drive to question this information, but she is well aware of the shadow that seems to follow her whenever she's on the outskirts of verdigris...

her kidnapping?? uhhhhhh who knows! LOL! working in the rear palace? same as usual! i see no reason to change the poison taster factor when... like lets be so real... there is poison in warrior cats :) if shadowsight can live, maomao can live! but the types of poisons would have to shrink or expand dramatically bc they are cats

1. Why do you like or dislike this character?

baby's first favorite character ever. i think. definitely the first one who properly stuck with me, anyway. thank you 4kids reruns of the SA2 arc of Sonic X burning certain parts of those episodes into my brain for the rest of eternity. it has been almost nineteen years and my attachment to him never really went away.

i don't know how to describe it other than i was just endlessly fascinated by him as a kid. these days it's about gradually discovering and exploring ways his backstory and company has an impact on him as a person, and how it might differ depending on those circumstances.

4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?

i would say he's fine right where he's at, but that's a trick answer considering in my AU that means "literally anywhere, since it's the multiverse". maybe that's just the answer; he's hard to imagine tied down to any one specific place.

maybe the closest equivalent then would be the game Starbound? but if i had to pick something still in-universe for him, i want a still-pixel remake of Sonic Battle with him included. like just keep all the other assets the same and add him onto the playable roster with a new story arc and such.

love love love writing from metal's point of view and how his manner of processing information influences the narrative style/generally just how he sees the world. the sky is blue because that's the way light works, and it is not pretty, etc. everything's always just about the science and logic.

shadow's narrative style is not very unique by comparison. it's more about the implications and nuances in her actions rather than about internal thoughts. i guess it just comes down to the fact i don't have to think too hard about writing for him.

there's nothing i particularly dislike when it comes to writing for either of them.

25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now?

way back when, i didn't have the full picture of SA2, only what those Sonic X episodes showed, so my understanding of shadow was that i didn't understand him at all. i couldn't wrap my head around what his motives were, didn't have a good grasp on his character traits, hardly even knew who maria was, and that fascinated me. he was the ultimate mystery.

in a way, that's still true when i look at canon shadow, but not in a particularly good way. i see inconsistencies and loopholes and frankly prefer to just turn away and look at the interpretations that make sense to me, like SA2, Battle, Rivals, and 06. hence "semi-modern" being what he is.

for metal, my first introduction to him was the OVA. and all i have to say about that is looking back, it's pretty clear where my appreciation for robotic characters came from, among certain other relevant trends. the amount of narrative nuance/angst/exploration that can fit into one little guy is impressive. now i just want him to be content if nothing else.

mephiles is probably the weirdest one on the list, seeing as my first time seeing him was in the 06 fandub. so i latched onto the parody interpretation first, even ending up with my own before anything else (that would be ros). i've done some dabbling in canon, and like all stories, i end up invested in my own little corner of what-ifs that got away from me completely. and now the character i view as "mephiles" vs their canon counterpart is still different, for completely different reasons now.

it's probably safe to say i never fully had a chance to appreciate canon mephiles for what he is, and instead kept rerouting into parodies and eventually AU elements so much i doubt my appreciation for canon mephiles as a concept even really counts. i'm more invested in everything but canon mephiles. which is not to say i dislike him in canon or anything, i just never had a chance to interact with him firsthand so to speak.

i don't think my versions are "better" or "should be considered canon" or whatever. using the foundation already there but exploring my own story routes/backstory elements/etc is just how my brain works when it comes to staying invested in a character.

Haru's Birthday Weekend (Prompt: 🎉)

Any birthday headcanons for other Appmon characters? Dates, star signs, how they spend their day?

I was really excited to think about this prompt, but yesterday was pretty distracting, so none of that thinking happened until I was in the shower, ahaha.

I kind of ended up answering some of the "how they would spend their day" in the cake one, so I'll leave it at that. I don't have specific dates for the other Appdriver's birthdays (in keeping with normal Digimon traditions), but I did want to think about star signs (I don't believe in astrology IRL, but I DO enjoy thinking about it for fictional characters!)

There do be MAJOR Appmon spoilers under this cut!

Because I value variety and symmetry (apparently), I ended up giving the first four Appdrivers zodiac signs with different seasons/ruling elements. This means they're pretty evenly spaced evenly throughout the year, and coincidentally they're all cardinal signs (and and AND! each of them having a different elemental affinity would make an interesting Avatar: The Last Airbender AU, perhaps??).

Haru: Cancer (Summer/Water, July 1) [this is canon]

Astra: Libra (Autumn/Air, 23 September – 23 October) [I like this mostly because scales LITERALLY appear in one of his focus episodes as a metaphor for balancing the two sides of his life. Plus Air sign -> Heavens -> Ouranosmon... IDK, it all works really well for me symbolically]

Rei: Capricorn (Winter/Earth, 22 December – 20 January) [something something pragmatic and business-like, something something driven and focused, winter in the northern hemisphere is associated with cold, death, solitude, and rest in nature, etc.]

Eri: Aries (Spring/Fire, 21 March–20 April) [something something passionate, determined, and competitive, something something spring and growth, and fire for explosive punches, DUH!]

Yuujin: Ok, here's where it gets complicated. Because Yuujin's birthday... is probably a bit nebulous and arbitrary, isn't it?

His true birthday could be considered the date he formally went online for the YJ project. However, I think that date is completely inconsequential. His mom is probably the only one who knows it, and it's doubtful she really acknowledges it. At best, she may use it as a day to perform maintenance and major upgrades (at least, when it's convenient for Yuujin to disappear for a time and not be noticed).

The birthday he and his friends know is the date his mother assigned to him for like... school-and-society purposes, to keep up appearances that he's a normal kid. Love the idea of Gemini (Spring/Air, 21 May – 21 June) for this: the dual nature, the insubstantiality (Air sign), and the fact that Gemini "typical characteristics" don't actually match his personality all that well?

Finally, I can see him having a post-canon, new-beginning birthday. I think everyone would encourage him to choose this date for himself, and I imagine he would choose the day he first met Haru. That's probably near the beginning of the school year, and I really like Taurus (Spring/Earth, 20 April – 21 May) for this (sidenote, but in an ATLA AU, I imagine Yuujin's a non-bender).

Danny Phantom Ancient Vlad AU, how would Vlad feel about Canon Dark Dan + vice versa? (Since they both became evil, because they lost their families and friends + they both wish to destroy the world!) 😅

Well, he'd definitely see a boatload of himself in the boy & his heart would absolutely reach out for him.

Though, it does bring to mind the question of why Vlad hasn't just gone the Dan route yet. Theoretically, he absolutely could. In fact, he should be stronger than Dan unless there was just something different about the way that Danny was made that leads to more power in-general.

Which I tend to believe. My perspective is that Danny's innitial transformation into a Halfa was sort of a once in an eternity sort of thing. Like, think about it. He wasn't just sacrificed in order to open a portal to the land of the dead, he was literally standing inside of the spot where the portal opened. In my mind, in that moment, his body was atomized, his molecules infused with ectoplasm on an atomic level. While dead, his soul was immediately flooded with so much pure ectoplasm that a Core immediately formed, but not a ghost. Then, at the moment that the portal opened, his body was reconstructed around his newly-formed Core in such a way that he had a tiny bit of ectoplasm in each & every cell in his body, some even being wholly new in that they were entirely infused with ectoplasm. Then, with one final jolt of electricity, he was fully resuscitated & his Core was sealed to his body.

So, in this situation, he's fully alive, but half ghost. Whereas Vlad, if we're going with my plan, was sacrificed through magical means, but wasn't actively inside the portal itself as it was formed.

Either way, per my own hc, which you don't have to follow if you don't want to, this results in Vlad having been turned into something known as a Psychopomp, which sometimes can be a type of Gatekeeper Ghost.

Gatekeeper Ghosts are generally the spirits of those sacrificed to open a doorway between worlds, planes, universes, ect. These Gatekeeper Ghosts sort of act as built-in bouncers for the doorway as they are tasked with protecting it.

It's likely that whoever sacrificed him was attempting to basically use him to protect their new doorway to the Infinite. This would've made Vlad, essentially, their slave.

Now, Gatekeeper Ghosts can be created from the opening of almost any type of doorway to other planes & whatnot. However, Vlad is, specifically, a Psychopomp just like Danny. A Psychopomp specifically being the spirit of one who protects the doorways to the afterlife specifically.

Psychopomps are also supposed to help ferry the spirits of the dead from the Living Realms to the Infinite Realms (sometimes called the Hereafter) & monitor what ecto-ghosts come into the Living Realms & for how long.

Basically acting as border patrol.

Now, most only become Earthbound Spirits as opposed to Hereafter Ghosts (the ecto-based ghosts that we see in the show), & what Psychopomps do become ecto-ghosts tend to only be Level 1 ecto-ghosts who don't even have Obsessions.

If Vlad hadn't resurrected himself into a half-Lugat, meaning he resurrected himself to do something that he desired in life, then he would've become his murderer's tool, not controlled, but used for their own benefit. However, because he did & he was sacrificed to become a Psychopomp, his will fought with the task he was imparted with until his will won. At which point, he was resurrected.

Which, Lugats aren't technically members of the undead legion as they are able to reproduce & if they were, then they wouldn't be able to do that. Their resurrection is a true one, but much like any time someone comes back without divine intervention, he came back different.

Because of this, despite being a Psychopomp, he has not only an Obsession, but also a Fixation, which are reserved for Ecto-Liminals & Halfas.

When he brought himself back, the desire that did it was the desire to protect his family & keep them safe. This became his Obsession, which is what initially allowed him to not become a tool. Thus, turning him into a type of Tutelary or protective spirit.

However, much like with Dan, he then lost the central figures that his Obsession centered around. In order to save himself, his Core formed a new Obsession, one of revenge or retribution. Thus, turning him into a Remnant.

Thus, began his crusade.

i do like to think of the chasm as post-inazuma but thats because in my head w/ their development inazuma is like. The Next Step almost, where they're close enough in liyue but the fact that they continue to be close even once lumine has left really hits. and then they've been a bit closer and become familiar with one another in quite a few ways by the time the chasm happens and then i get super self indulgent with the chasm because i am so silly like that <3333 in terms of slowburn and the way you've described their growing closeness it does make SO much sense to swap it tbh i love the thought of the chasm being like the start of things and the way that'd bring them closer before inazuma and. mfgnmhfnmf god. we have diff interpretations of how he'd deal with things like the yaksha's deaths and zhongli dying but i think a lot of the points we both have are still pretty similar, ESPECIALLY with him not knowing how to handle it and ESPECIALLY especially with the shock factor. the way i write him or would write his reaction to that would definitely be him just sort of Shutting Down emotionally because its too much and too overwhelming and so he kicks into like. i cant call it work mode its not really a job. but he fully focuses on fighting and finding out who couldve killed rex lapis and like. he turns his attention to things that are familiar and easier to deal with and he buries himself in them the way one would bury themselves in their work to ignore emotions yknow? and then there'd be the shock factor of "oh he Is alive" and then there's this massive pit of grief with nowhere to go because logically, reasonably, rex lapis is alive, there's nothing left to grieve. he shouldn't still be upset <- man who refuses to let himself process and feel his emotions when the emotions dont stop existing just bc he ignores them

LMAOO SALMON PINK IS INSANE WORK it was definitely to differentiate it from chigiri (bright pink) kurona (peach pink) and sae (red bean pink) genuinely why are there so many pink/red haired characters in the show 😭 it’s such a random color meanwhile barou is the ONLY character with red eyes i’m pretty sure (since they got rid of kiyora’s cool emo color scheme from s1 😒) i actually love barou’s color scheme and how his eyes are so bright compared to his black hair i feel like it sets him apart from the monochromatic vibe everyone else has going on as well as the typical black hair/blue eyes combo that’s so popular

HELP I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THE KAISER ONE GOT SO LONG tbh i think it’s a world building thing…that’s why whenever people are like “you don’t write as much for characters you don’t like” i feel like i need to clarify that how much i write is ENTIRELY dependent on the plot 🙂‍↕️ some plots require more words to develop and build and have maximum impact yk?? like karasu bfb would not have had nearly the emotion and punch it did if i shortened it because half of the appeal of the story is seeing karasu and the reader grow up and how their feelings and relationship shift over the years meanwhile the otoya version would’ve felt super dragged out and annoying if it was that long because it would’ve just been otoya cheating and reader not really caring because she’s TOTALLY not into him or anything SLKDFHJDS so like the kaiser req because it was fantasy needed the necessary buildup to the ending hence the longer word count (plus in order to make it believable that an angel would care about a human i had to show their interactions and reader’s character and shit) meanwhile a request that’s a little more specific and especially in an established relationship setting doesn’t require as much background context or anything so it’s like i can just write the scene a person wants and then be done with it LMAOOOO i do think all of the 1k event reqs are going to be really long though because they’re just tropes?? so i have to lay the groundwork of the verse and the plot and stuff to make the tropes feel believable

KYOANI QUALITY IS AMAZING and i feel like their work never has huge fan bases??? like the violet evergarden fandom is nonexistent ig because it doesn’t really lend itself well to a fandom but still i feel like it’s one of those things where everyone recognizes the quality of the work but people by and large don’t go around saying that they’re FANS of the work (not me though i’ll always say ve is my fav anime it has its sus moments ofc [that one ep with the princess was a little strange given the age gap plus gilbert being the romantic lead in the movie is kinda eh to me i don’t really like it i prefer thinking of him as a father figure] but what it does well it does SO WELL plus everyone is drawn super realistically and age appropriately?? if that makes sense like there’s no nonsense with “500 year old” elementary schools…also the exploration of grief and emotions is AMAZINGG you’ll never catch me hating)

RIN ISEKAI SPIN-OFF OF HOLLYHOCK WOULD ACTUALLY BE SO FUNNY i think it would be hilarious too because technically he’s otoya’s employer?? since he’s in yukimiya’s body…so his biggest opp (his celebrity crush’s boyfriend) actually just works for him imagine he sends otoya on random missions so that he can get closer to reader without otoya’s interference KSDHJFSLK or wait it would be even funnier if the bllk guys exist in his time line as well so he thinks everyone else got isekai’d too so he’s like trying to talk to karasu about “going back home” and gardener karasu is like fuck you my dad died this is my home now?? because he thinks “yukimiya” is being classist so we get the onesided karasu yuki beef again

AEGISLASH ARC MENTIONED WE ALL CLAPPED okay so if in the actual verse nagi and reader are gone for about a week just imagine it’s like karasu tullia and otoya freaking out for a day before completing random side quests where they “happen” to run into reo and chigiri LMAOO so it’s like nagi and reader trying to avoid death and going through this weird quest so they’re not killed by a psychotic ghost type meanwhile otoya’s trying to teach chigiri and karasu how to rizz up girls (and failing) and reo + tullia are “not on a date” but they keep doing date-like activities like going to dinner and shopping together and stuff (reo has a lot of extra money with nagi gone)

YUKI LOOKED SO SO SO SO SO SO GOOD THIS EPISODE reminds me why i started the manga for him…been a day one yukimiya stan fr and i’m PROUD i’m surprised i haven’t seen more fans of him maybe this episode will change that though?? i feel like he had as much majestic screen time as otoya in ep1 but for some reason everyone jumped to the otoya train and there’s not enough people left to be yuki/karasu fans but oh well more for me ig /hj i was really hoping that we’d get a yukimiya + nagi additional time instead of another nagireo one and 8bit DELIVERED please they were so cute (had to throw rin in there fsr ig but whatever yuki and nagi balance it out) i love them both and okay maybe the animation itself wasn’t FIRE but they drew yukimiya’s one v one emperor sequence so well i was blushing and giggling and kicking my feet and shit i feel like i truly won (missed seeing karasu on screen though fr)

Hm... in general, Haru is a person who puts a lot of emphasis on ties with people. She cares a lot for others, and is prone to prioritizing others over herself.

If it came down to it, if the choice was between her and someone else dying, she'd volunteer herself. She's just that kind of person. It doesn't mean that she's brave, mind you. She'd be absolutely terrified, but above all that, she couldn't handle knowing that someone else died in her stead. The immense guilt is one thing, but she also cares much more for others, so she'd literally never forgive herself.

We know that Haru is quite the friendly bean, and she gets along with a wide variety of people. She could probably view people as important to her like family. Lambo is like a little brother to her, Kyoko and say-- Chrome would be like her sisters. Bianchi is that cool older sister to get advice from. Ryohei can be the older bro type.

The rest-- she don't see them as siblings I can tell you that much lol. Friends, for sure. If they hid less from Kyoko and her, maybe she could view some of them with like sibling bonds, but nah.

Honestly, Haru wouldn't even think twice before sacrificing herself if it came down to someone like Kyoko or Lambo. Not even a thought in her mind, she'd just move on instinct. She's very impulsive like that, sometimes.

I'd said before that if the situation was such that Haru had the choice to choose between herself or anyone in the Vongola, she'd choose to save the other person. That holds true regardless. IF it was a dangerous situation, she'd hesitate with some of the guys mostly because she has trust in them and is pretty confident they have the situation under control. She doesn't want to but in and accidentally make the situation worse.

HOWEVER, Lambo is entirely a different story. She views him as a kid brother. She won't even think. No hesitation, she will try to protect him. It's not even a question.

Haru's opinion on family is -- skewed. She did have a family, but she doesn't remember them, so as far as she's concerned, they're simply strangers. Then coupled with the fact that it's believed she died in the 'incident' and some other child was mistaken as her- she feels like any remaining relatives that are alive mean almost nothing to her.

They mourn the death of her parents and 'Haru Miura' so they made some other child their family. She feels disconnected to them, but admittedly she is curious about who they are. It's one of those things where you wonder about how your life could've turned out if things have changed, you know? (referenced in the one meme)

In a thread it was mentioned that she didn't feel the need to tell anyone the truth because she feels that finding out the truth that she became an assassin and she lives the days putting her life on the line for dangerous missions-- oh and she has literally no childhood memories, is that really something they want to know? Isn't it better to believe that the family had perished at the same time together? They can be together in heaven.

Then there is Bel who killed his own brother, Ravein whose parents have died because of a mistake he made so many years ago, she's just like DAMN families kinda suck and sound like a major lability.

Thus, I think I mentioned before that Haru in the Varia!au has no real opinion on romance and she has no drive to find one for herself. She's perfectly okay with being single- honestly, she prefers it.

She doesn't know what having a family is like so she only has like theoreticals to go off of. She really treasures Sentai-san, Bel, and Ravein, but she doesn't really know how to accurately describe their relationship. In truth, she does kind of view them as siblings, but she herself wouldn't know how to really put it that way.

She imagines what she feels for them is like siblings- but then she looks at Bel and is like 'mmm maybe not. I don't want to die' lol

12. Do you outline your fics?  If yes, how detailed are your outlines?  How far do you stray from them?

sometimes i’ll do a half-assed outline in a document comment but tbh i usually don’t outline my fics. i have a vision in my brain and am just attempting to channel it. sometimes the vision is only for one specific scene and i’m just dicking around until i get there … my fav is when i just start writing and every time a scene ends i have to figure out what tf i’m writing next. keeping myself on my toes

22. Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process?  How do you come up with titles?

depends on the fic. some fic ideas come with pre-determined titles, sometimes it comes to me as i’m writing it, and sometimes i put it off until the end and am then confronted by the fact that i Need a title and i’ll agonize over it forever. i have idea lists n stuff but sometimes none of them feel right? off the top of my head i know i changed the title of telephone after i started writing it bc i kept referencing an actual telephone game so it felt right. now i can’t remember what it was before tho oops! and i come up w titles either through song lyrics, misreading shit (coughs heartstroke) or just Vibes. i keep running lists also

55. Have you noticed any patterns in your fics?  Words/expressions that appear a lot, themes, common settings, etc?

i know there are things i do a lot bc i will think about it as i’m writing but now that i’m being asked about it my entire brain is just. Empty. uhh this is just true for my writing but i like bloody/body-horror type imagery. somehow i manage to use the word primeval a lot but i think that’s just bc it’s my favorite word

and i realized at one point that i have a lot of fics where ice water is for some reason mentioned and important? also i have a pattern of making pierre fake-blond and a model whenever i write au fics. then i have the issue of making whoever the non-POV half of the pairing really fucking arrogant i do that in literally everything i write - including original fiction - so maybe i just have a type

but my biggest stupid one i think is i use the word “thing” a lot — like “an [adjective] thing” if that makes sense. i will fetch examples bc i know i do it all the damn time
