i couldn't tell you what started it that was…a…[mumbled number of years] ago and like i barely remember what i have for breakfast most days.  what i can tell you is that one of my earliest memories of me writing things for shits and giggles was way back in the dark ages when a baby me and my best friend at the time had a notebook we'd pass to each other between classes where we'd write our self-insert fanfic (if that tells you how baby i was) for a fandom i shall not name.  i remember this notebook exactly, for what it's worth, it was a little almost a5 thing we picked up from the dollar tree and i wrote in it with a sparkly purple gel pen so you knew who was writing what.

Interviewer (I): What's one memory or experience you can share from making this album? Any trips to Japan or Jamaica?

Harry (H): We stayed in Los Angeles mostly for this one. But erm...in terms of a specific memory...I would say that while I was working with Y/n, one of the tracks was actually inspired by her cat.

I: Really?

H: Yeah. Whenever it did something to annoy Y/n, which was quite often, she'd call her a little freak. The song's obviously not about the cat, but the phrase was in my head and yeah. Things just kind of...snowballed from there.

H: Not necessarily. Y/n and I collaborated, but she also let me take the reins in terms of sound. She had opinions of course and we would bounce ideas off of each other...but she really just followed my lead and supported the vision I had. She is playing a majority of the instruments on the album, though.

H: It's hard not to.

I: How so?

I: It sounds like you could go on for quite some time about her.

H: She's just cool, you know? I was kind of intimidated when we met for the first time. She's quiet, but you never forget that she's in the room, you just want to go over and talk to her. Of course once you meet her she's incredibly kind and not at all intimidating, but still like chill and stuff. The first time we met we sat for an hour just talking about music we enjoyed and live shows we wanted to attend and things we learned while in lockdown. She's just effortlessly cool. An old soul, I guess. And somehow she translates that into her music. Her sisters, too. They're all just first-rate musicians.

H: Sorry. I kind of gushed for a minute there.

H: And the band. They're just so talented, you know?

I JUST WATHCED THE MLB LONDON SPECIAL AND OMG SO MANY THOUGHTS WHERE DO I START??

The animation was so good??? absolutely gorgeous, divine if i do say so myself it reminded me of season 1 and season 2 animation ESP WITH THE LADYNOIR SCENE? HELLO LADYNOIR STANS WE GET THE MOST DELICIOUS AND LAST CRUMB OF THEM 🙏😭 THE CLOUDY LIGHTING AND THE BACKDROP OF THE EIFFEL TOWER I'M CRYING IT'S SO GOOD??

THE MUSIC WAS SO PRETTY MY GOD!! Loved the references to Gabriel Faure pieces and styles music with the obv reference to Gabriel Agreste. The music lined up beautifully with the scenes 🫶

I would have DIED if they gave us "in the rain" which is the music during the rain adrienette scene but i bet they're saving it for the acc finale.

Segue to the scene line up, it was super professional and it was genuinely cinematic and I felt like I was watching an actual movie. Really enjoyed the little clips and refs to the show as well like marinette saying "feels like it's been 10 years" yea girl it's been a decade and I'm still watching 😭

Now the acc special, the plot was so different in cases of time manipulation with chronobug and alex was def not expected but it was great and i think the fact that it was different made it more enjoyable? The retrieval of the butterfly miraculous was obv hinted towards in the s5 finale unfortunately i got spoiled about the new butterfly holder being lila before hand but I think it's the most realistic option and tbh I'm curious about what lila's wish was and how could it be so life changing that marinette intervened cause what could lila have possibly wished for that changed the fabric of time and matter itself to change the universe?

Another question I had was the very obvious contradiction the show made which is that marinette did have the chance to alter lilas notebook so much so that it would throw lila completely off track to the point where she chooses not to akumatize people in s6. Now time was obv an issue at hand but alex still had over 15 portals open for marinette to use to access and she could have technically kept the notebook seeing as to how it would still alter time like how she took the pen for her lucky charm and then afterwards in her lucky charm the notebook would return without the information that lila initially had.

I have a lot more thoughts but i'm lowk tired so i'll type them later but wowza this special sure was special alright. It kinda made me nostalgic and kina emotional cause I've been watching this for a decade on and off which is wild. I would have loved if they had wrapped this up and left it at this without s6 coming but who am i kidding it's mlb. 😭 Def my 2nd fave special , first is paris but I think it was def more important than the other specials in terms of continuity and context and just the fact that it was an extended ending of s5. ive tried both and i think i prefer handwritten notes, however they both have their pros and cons:

handwritten pros

proven to be better for retaining information

can't get distracted by other tabs

lighter to carry

costs less than a laptop

i've had some classes where we weren't allowed to use laptops so it's good to already be used to taking notes this way

cons:

much slower. sometimes i find im missing stuff and i have to go back to it at the end

have to print out diagrams etc if u want to include them

could possibly lose them, spill something etc

not enough space on desk for both laptop and notebook so u can't get slides up or google something

digital pros:

much quicker

easier to organise & pull up different notes at any time - u don't need to carry around or find older notebooks to be able to study or refer back to past classes

some people make notes directly onto the slides which u would have to print out if u wanted to do by hand

can also use for research and writing essays which u will need a computer for at some point so might as well do everything in one place

cons:

expensive

more stressful if u lose or break it

if u forget to charge it and u don't have paper .......

this upcoming year, im using a combination. most of the time i'll handwrite my notes, but for classes where they talk too quickly i'll type them (it's not worth the stress & extra time having to go back to recordings after). my notes for readings will be annotated straight onto the pdf. i'll be taking pictures of notes to put them all together.

unfortunately, i think it is because you'll need computer access to research and write ur essays, as well as to find course information etc. HOWEVER some universities (most?) have laptops that u can borrow and computers in the library, so if u know that you'll be motivated enough to get up and do all of ur work on campus, you could save this cost - bare in mind when u move off campus after first year it might be even harder. definitely look into this if cost is an issue for you! it doesn't need to be a fancy one if u do buy a laptop though, just remember u'll be carrying it around so don't get a super heavy one!

as for something i wish i'd done differently: as a sociology student, none of my classes have exams where i have to memorise things, instead it's all essay based. this led me to not 'study' i guess ??? like the stuff that i wrote my essays on, i knew like the back of my hand, but everything else i couldn't remember well. so if ur taking an essay based subject, remember that u still need to study a little & remember these things !! i was so overwhelmed tbh that i forgot about this oopsie!

when people say that after u skip one class, u'll skip the rest THEY. MEAN. IT. literally try so hard not to miss class bc you will never go again if u do. my classes would start off with not enough seats for everybody and end up with just a handful of us by the end of term.....

make time for urself !! it can become all consuming, especially if u live on campus, but pls make some dedicated time away from studying !!

u will find ur friends eventually. pls remember that it won't last or be that fun if u stick with friends who u don't have that much in common with just bc they were the first u met. tell me why i was going to bars and clubs with people in first term bc that;s what they wanted to do ????? it's ok to move onto different people bc u will eventually get tired of doing these things u don't like just to be able to hang out with people !! now i go to bookstores and cafes with my new friends and i love it!! don't settle !!

Digi-memories, summer 2000 (feat. me crying more than once)

On Saturday, June 24, 2000, I was on vacation in the mountains with my family. I was 11 at the time. We were staying in a cabin with electricity and running water, but obviously no computers, phones, internet or cable. We had a tiny, black and white TV with rabbit ears that we brought with us, and it got like 3 local channels that would cut in and out. One of them was Fox! I knew the final two episodes of Digimon: Digimon Monsters were airing that day (Fox Kids waited a whole month to air them for some reason). And amazingly my sister and I were able to actually watch them! In black and white of course. And the reception did cut out for most of Apocalymon's famous pizza crust speech. But I got to see the finale with the full version of "Hey Digimon" and the trolley car and Mimi's hat, etc.

And I cried. A lot. I was (and still am) incredibly sensitive and prone to crying at the drop of a hat. We had only just started the week-long vacation when the episodes aired and (according to my parents), I was "annoying" all week because of how upset I was. I thought it was over forever. That I'd never get to see Digimon again. That my faves' story was over and they would never get to see their Digimon again. I remember grabbing my spiral notebook (which was at the time filled with Team Rocket fanfiction), and started writing letters to the Digidestined. I wish I still had them, tbh, because I'd love to know what I came up with for Joe, who I was not a fan of at the time. Probably most of the emotion went to Matt, who was my favorite character back then, and Izzy, who was my sister's.

Anyway, there was this stretch of time between June 24, 2000 and August 19, 2000, when the season 1 dub had finished airing and the 02 dub started airing. Apparently 02 began airing in Japan in April, 2000, so by the time the season 1 dub ended on Fox Kids, there were already a number of 02 episodes out in Japan (apparently 13 episodes to be exact).

That summer, I read a rumor on an English language Digimon message board claiming that the new season (02) was going to "completely cut out the characters of Matt, Sora, Mimi and Joe". Since I was 11 years old at the time, I took this at face value (though if you remove the word 'completely', the rumor is largely true).

I remember going into the basement of my house and crying my eyes out (again) for Matt, Sora, Mimi and Joe. I made up a rambling song that essentially eulogized them, and I sang it for hours in the basement with the lights off for some reason. I remember telling my parents about it and they had no idea what to do to console me. My sister was 6 years old, so who knows if that "news" affected her in any way. It's funny because at the time, I didn't even particularly like Sora, Mimi, or Joe. But I was still devastated by their "loss".

There's nothing else to the story, really. I think I was probably surprised when most of the older Digidestined did show up in the first handful of episodes of 02. I don't think 02 made me cry (or at least not as much). But after it was over, I wrote like 20 love letters to Davis and wrote some cringy self-insert fic. All of those I definitely do still have.

It's 4th of January, I am still away and that's what's been keeping me from doing a 2025 goals list, but I'd love to finally do it.

In 2025:

🐍 I want to buy a hanging calendar (monthly) and put it over my desk. Writing monthly goals with deadlines works wonders for me, and I want to be able to see them at all time.

🐍 I want to get rid of my old notebooks from Uni, and buy a beautiful one, to keep my writing notes and ideas in, so I would have it all in one place while writing on my computer. Because now I have some in my phone notes, in google docs, on pinterest, in old notebook that is not aesthetically pleasing and full of ripped pages, etc. This technique worked well when I was writing my master's thesis.

🐍 I want to have at least as good of writing year as I did in 2024 (my best year writing-wise [propably ever]). I hope my calendar will help me with this.

🐍 I want to read more books that'll keep me inspired (remember how reading Lockwood and Co kick-started my 2024 writing? That was incredible feeling 😭). I just want inspiration ✨️ I love how new worldbuilding ideas are coming to me, I love this so much, I just need to figure out the plot, cause it's not going where I wanted it to and I need to get back on track, without going back and rewriting 10th chapter again (since there isn't much to change, just like, four lines, but I like them and that's the problem).

🐍 Honestly? I don't want a busy year. I barely noticed and celebrated 2024, I felt disconnected to it, to the natural cycle. I want less work related travels. I want to spend more time with family and friends - so more home related travels (2024 was lacking in that department) and I want to be able to have free weekends in the summer to go for swimming and go for walks, and ride a bike 🌊🚴‍♂️🚶🏼‍♀️

🐍 I want to have summer vacation abroad with my bf (we never had a chance to go abroad together). If this LONG stay in his home village taught me anything, it's that I hate leaving home for too long. So I guess a 5 days vacation will be the best option. Maybe a city break? Cause I like those the most.

🐍 I want to go ice skating (with my bf, because WE NEVER DID IT TOGETHER, which is insane to me, because in my hometown there was an ice skate rink, and I was skating with everyone all the time. And we have been together for almost 6 years, and never went ice skating!!! 😱 [because in the city where we live, ice skate rink is expensive and used to have crazy skating times, and you had to book them and it was a whole thing, and I was pissed off at this. Thank God they changed it]).

🐍 I would love to go skiing! I have been skiing since I was 10, mostly because my hometown is near mountains, and now, my beloved city is far away from everything (!!!!!), so a mountain trip would have to take a whole weekend. But I (after almost 6 years, good Lord 🙈) found out, that in my bf's home region there is ONE (1) ski slope and this is the closest one --- wait I just checked it in google, and IT'S NOT THE ONLY ONE, I AM PISSED. But tbh, even If I knew about it before, we didn't have a car, so we wouldn't be able to go skiing either way. Owning a car does wonders. Too bad we didn't have the time to use it too much (for fun things) in 2024. I WANT TO GO SKI!!! (I also want to take my bf, because he never went skiing, and I think he will propably hate it, because he has knees issues, but I would love for him to at least try/be with me).

🐍 We will start the process of apartment hunting, so by the end of the 2025, I would want to have at least a clear situation - will we be buying off the one we are currently renting, or will we be buying something new? Some verbal agreements with the potential seller would be nice.

🐍 I wish to get engaged this year 🙈🙉 I am not getting any younger, and I am the type of girl who needs to be married to have children. And I would like to have a child sometime around 30.

🐍 Last but not least, I need to start going to the gym. I have a sitting lifestyle and it took a toll on my health and condition. I want to start running and gain some muscle, because I am the weakest bitch you know. I tried running outside, but it's just not for me. I used to go to the gym when I was a teenager and I liked running on the threadmill (also my friend inspired me, she only goes to the gym for the threadmill, and for some reason I thought you can't do that 😅). Also, I want to start going to the pool. Same thing as the ice skating - used to go very often, but now in my city there aren't a lot of cheap, city pools, and most of those are on the other side of the town. Once again the car will help me move around the city more quickly.

🐍 OH! Also I forgot - I need to take care of my guitar. I haven't played it in around 2 years, and it sits sad in the corner. My resolution is to play it at least a little this year. Maybe replace the strings, because they have ~10 years 😅 Maybe buy a guitar stand. If it's out of the case, it would take less effort to take it and play 😅

I think that's it? It seems like a lot, but many of those will be accomplished right when I'm back home (ice skating, calendar buying, notebook). And most of those are just a lifestyle plans. I want to take things slowly, appreciate the cycle of the year and the nature. Spent more time outside and have more free weekends to do fun shit.

-> A bonus wish would be to go camping once this summer, but that might be a difficult to accomplish, since we don't own a tent (and I'm not sure if anyone we know owns one).

kit loves road trips. he doesn't have a dream road trip per say because he cares more about the quality time, traveling, and views + sight seeing than he does the actual location. when he does get to go on a road trip (say, for a mission or for fun), he's the most excited and the least prepared. he was never taught how to pack appropriately for trips so he always underpacks and he'd run out of clothes on longer trips unless they stop or someone let's him borrow clothes (which is easier said than done bc he's tall and has long legs so pants are always the most difficult bit). like he'll pack maybe two days worth of clothes thinking that'll be enough and his other necessities like a charger for his phone, his computer, a notebook, maybe a switch or something, so he'll have things to do when / if they stop and stay the night somewhere. and he'd never go on a road trip alone. ever. he might be a skilled hero who's been doing that shit for awhile by this point, but he still isn't about to travel between states or anything by himself. he knows how dangerous that can be. his favourite person to travel with is roy tbh, they vibe together so hard – if they're with other people, they try and keep kit and roy from controlling the music lmao. bc kit will play the worst music ever and roy will encourage it. dick, until they start working their issues out, is one of his least favourite people to travel with bc they get on each other's nerves. and dick won't always let him drive. which he hates. his very first road trip was with his godfather cole! he was maybe seven and cole picked him up from school that day and decided they were gonna go on a little road trip, it wasn't a long drive or anything, but it was nice. probably just to a nice beach somewhere outside of star city. it was, at that point, the most fun he'd ever had. bc they went somewhere new and cole was singing along to the radio and making him laugh and they stopped to get food n ate in the car and kit was so excited bc cole let him sit in the front seat while they ate. it's his most treasured memory.

DOVE BAEK:

dove has technically not been on a road trip... unless you count the time they ran away and hopped on a bus to central city. which was not the most pleasant experience ever. like kit i don't think they have a dream road trip destination, but i do think they've made a list of places they've heard people go to on road trips so that they could do that one day. when sparrow is a little older probably. if you count their bus trip as a actual road trip than their first one was awful. it was hot and kind of loud and they were so carsick the entire time. plus people kept looking at them weirdly bc they were a young teenager traveling on their own. they couldn't even try to lie about that if anyone asked, their behavior (& obvious lack of adult) gave them away. they were so fidgety and nervous and trying so hard to look like they weren't doing anything wrong that it was pretty clear they weren't supposed to be there. they also ran out of snacks before they got to central city and that SUCKED so bad. if you don't count that, then their first road trip is gonna be a little bumpy but overall fine. they overprepare and try to account for every worse case scenario. they bring extra everything (most everything, reenie and jason talk them out of going totally overboard). they're making sure they have an actual map in case they lose cell service and their phone won't work to get directions. they cannot read a map. they're anxious and excited all at the same time and they'd keep having to pull over so that dove can get out and see the sights or let out some energy which they can't do in the car. if they're driving (especially if it's just them n jason) they're gonna hold jason's hand bc they are sappy sometimes and they like doing that. they're most anxious if they travel anywhere with sparrow, not because he's difficult to manage or anything, but because they're a little overprotective and scared of anything happening to him. if their son is coming along then they've gotta bring someone else too. sometimes reenie, sometimes avis, jason if they can. they care about reaching their destination safely, they don't really mind where they're going as long as everyone ends up there in one piece.

VASILYEV FAMILY (sam, noah, aeron, milan, logan, thea)

this family would have the most chaotic road trips. we're talking full chaos. they're renting an rv or driving multiple cars, they're getting lost, someone is getting left behind around least once, someone loses their luggage, they get banned from at least one restaurant, aeron terrifies everyone when they drive, they almost get into an accident, and someone breaks their phone. multiple anxiety attacks ensue, at least 2 panic attacks, thea logan and milan spend part of the trip confused bc there's no subtitles when their brothers (cousins in milan's case) are talking and those assholes forget that english is the common language sometimes. milan defaces public property while sam is losing his mind trying to get everyone back together. there's one (1) arrest and it's never who they think. they make a tally every time sam looks down with their shit. thea has to wrangle logan and aeron. arson is accidentally committed. basically it's a mess. a fun, exhausting mess. all of them have gone on road trips, both together and alone or with other people. thea used to love going on drives with her other younger siblings and when she went away for college she drove with a friend and had a good time. logan didn't rlly do road trips until they met the rest of their family but she'd been on one or two, her family was more about big vacations honestly. noah and aeron used to go on trips all the time, usually to one of the next cities over to go to concerts or just get away from their house. milan didn't do road trips before meeting all of them but he did take cars for joyrides which... he considers the same thing much to his family's horror. noah is the one who jokes about wishing he stayed home when really he loves it the most. thea is the one who actually wishes she stayed home once the chaos starts. aeron is the one who keeps adding stops because they wanna see everything. milan goes along with it but he's also trying to get them to stop at bars & clubs, he's moderately successful. logan usually teams up with the two of them and causes chaos, she's almost certainly the one who almost hits something when she drives. sam is the oldest and he's trying to keep everyone together and safe and hopefully out of jail. he is so tired. sam and logan are honestly the ones who decide where they're going and usually it's a vague location instead of a set place. like maybe a national park but they also wanna see other stuff in the area or whatever. but logan's responsibility ends there.

So one of these is not like the others lol. I can explain though. So, top down:

SASTTM got published when Security Breach was super popular and tapped into the public outcry for Freddy being Gregory's dad. It's been sitting unfinished for over a year now at 28k, but I do have plans to finish it! I've cut the draft down a lot to actually make it a feasible writing project now, but I'm not going to publish anymore chapters until it's done. I want to finish it properly because this fic helped me grow so much as a writer and it means a lot to me.

I Can't Lose You Again will get touched on later on, as well as Wish We Could Turn Back Time.

Five Time Casey Moved was a fic that I wrote in a haze after watching season one of ROTTMNT and then the movie. It was published the day after the movie came out iirc and has a really special place in my heart for several reasons <3

And then the chatfic.

I got my fandom start in Danganonpa and in middle school, chatfics are the funniest, coolest things ever. So once I decided to start writing, obviously I had to do my own. It has aged horribly, is horribly written, and honestly should be deleted and never see the light of day again. Or at least be orphaned. But I made myself a promise to never delete my old fics unless they were actually horrific because you know what? Everyone starts somewhere. So it's still up. And one day it will get dethroned from the top kudos list and I will throw a party <3

I usually respond!! It makes me so giddy to receive even the shortest comments, and I always try to pass on that good feeling <3

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

So out of my published fics its I’d Make a Deal with God (I’d Get Him to Swap Our Places) which is a ROTTMNT fic I wrote about the movie before it came out to speculate on the future. In it we see both Raph and Donnie get kranged, leaving Leo and Mikey crying in a subway. A friend actually told me to kay why you know what myself because of it (in a very much joking manner) which was SUCH a compliment!!!

Out of everything I've written? There's a half finished ROTTMNT fic in my junior year AP Lang notebook which takes place over one week and ends with Mikey dying which is... really angsty. Like worryingly angsty. It's still an interesting concept that I think could be fun to explore, but even if I do ever finish it idk if it'll see the light of day.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I'm really not a fan of unhappy endings, even in fics. Hurt is best served with a side of comfort in my opinion, so everything I write ends up being really light and fluffy.

Three fics come to mind as having the happiest *ending* though.

The first is Would You be so Kind (As to Fall in Love with Me?) which is a Craig of the Creek fic entirely focused on two characters realizing that they love each other and that polyamory is an option! It's super sweet and I refuse to believe it's not canon tbh.

The other two are both Project Sekai fics from Tenmay this year, The Royal Summit (Where Friendships Blossom) and Sunbound Promise. They're both fantasy aus where Tsukasa and Toya grow closer, the first being their first meeting and the second where they become brothers. They're both so sweet and self indulgent, the endings make me so happy <3 <3 <3 <3

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I got one comment on SASTTM where someone was bitching about neopronouns which I think counts. But overall people have been really nice and anyone who doesn't jive with the fic just moves on lol

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Nope, and I don't know if I ever will. It's just not what I really want to write :p

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Occasionally! None of them have been particularly "crazy", though. I try to keep those things pretty grounded. I have a lot of crossover ideas that don't get written though :p

There are a lot of ships I love. But for all time favorite, I have to go with the one that I keep going back to read fics for even though I've lost pretty much all other interest in the game: Promptis (Prompto/Noctis from FFXV) I just keep coming back to them.

Where to start with this list.

The main one if probably my Project Sekai fantasy au fic The Eastern Side of Bolganio. It's so special to me, but it's a majorly ambitious project and I've gotten so little response with it that it's hard to write. I'm normally pretty good about not focusing on the numbers when it comes to fics (writing for small random fandoms help, there are some fics that I'm surprised have more than two hits, much less two kudos), but the fact that it's such an ambitious project that I've barely made a dent into... idk

I'm going to try and not be too self deprecating lol.

I'm really bad at describing environments/movement and dialogue at the same time. It's always either White Room Syndrome or a clunky mess. I also suck at titles. I always try to not use song lyrics, but anything that I do always sounds horrible.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I love it when it's done well! I love it when fic authors delve into the heritage of characters and bring in elements of it. I've done it a fair couple of times and always take great care to make sure that the translations aren't too horrific.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

So the first ever fanfiction I wrote was my exceedingly angsty, take on who the other souls in Undertale were before they died.

HOWEVER, I consider the first *fandom* I wrote for to be either Percy Jackson or Danganronpa. My first actual attempt at writing a fanfiction was a Solangelo prompt which I wrote two sentences of before abandoning and the first time I tried to write canon characters in situations, doing things, was it that damned chatfic XD

Wish We Could Turn Back Time - This is my Roman Empire. I haven't updated this fic in years but I think about it everyday. I'm working on cleaning up the outline to be less ambitious so I actually have a chance to finish writing the thing, and I can't wait to finally give it the ending it deserves! It's also actually shaped my life in so many ways <3

After The Dinner Horn and Offscreen; a CotC oneshot collection - Maybe putting a oneshot collection here is cheating but shhhh. This actually is an umbrella title for almost all of my cotc fics (especially on platforms where I can't be bothered to upload them individually unless they're multichaptered). So many of these fics either shaped me as a writer drastically or mean so much to me on a personal level it's WILD. And also a reflection on how much the show means to me I guess? Idk that's enough psychoanalyzing for today.

Coercion Cancellation - This one might be cheating because it's the one I'm currently working on, but shhhhh. It still counts. It's for an indie horror game called Imaginary Friend Asylum ((prequel to The Friends We Left Behind)) which you should check out

oohhh summer camp!! that’s so fun! i hope you have the most wonderful time there hehe. i’m glad you’ve been doing well <333

i am entering a bit of a recovery phase tbh, 4th year was rough (academically and personally) but yesterday after sending off my dissertation i went to the park and started reading a book and write in my notebook and it was just. so good. because reading and writing have just been impossible for me for a long time. so i’m just looking forward to finding myself again after the absolute mess that were the last two years. also i have to find a job, which i’m hoping to get sth in a lab, but a librarian friend of mine also keeps recommending me jobs at the library so that i have something in case it takes longer to find an entry-level lab job (which is likely). anyway it’s a little scary i’ve always been a student and now that’s just. over.

that sounds a little bleak so i’m also gonna tell you some good things:

i have a mullet now. a proper ash from supernatural mullet, not one of those baby mullets

i worked in a lab for a few months and it was such a good experience! it confirmed to me that yes i do want to work in a lab in the future it’s where i belong!

what’s been keeping me going throughout is rapper sword dancing though! look it up you won’t regret it, it’s an old miner’s dance with funky bendy swords and weaving through fun figures. i recommend you watch some videos i can’t explain it otherwise. look up black swan, they’re insanely good and also look very intimidating (won this year’s DERT, annual rapper tournament). other fun teams to look out for are mons meg (not as polsihed but VERY worth looking at), gaorsach (fun chaos), sheffield steel (just. GOOD), northgate, and sallyport (specifically their DERT 2024 showcase for silly vibes)

anyway. that was my little infodump. i’ll probably start playing disco elysium this summer

Why I think the Miraculous Movie is amazing

First of all, the Kwamis and the miraculous. When the miracle box is introduced in the movie, the only Miraculous in it are the Ladybug, Black cat, turtle, fox, and bee. If there are any of the other miraculous, we aren't shown them. Honestly praying that those are the only ones, because the other ones kind of suck.

Also, another thing that I found interesting was that Hawk Moth seems to be impacted from using his miraculous, even though it's never said that the butterfly miraculous is broken. He has visions of destruction when he looks at it at the start. He passes out on the floor after akumatising someone for the first time. He lets himself go over the course of the movie- either because of his obsession or the effects of using the miraculous.

Anyway, I love how the kwamis and miraculous are so connected in this. Nooroo poking his head out of Hawk Moth's button in the song he sings, and Tikki actually shifting between the two at the very end of the movie. And speaking of the end of the movie-

The akumatised people:

No objects for you, an evil butterfly is going to crawl inside of you and painfully turn you into a monster. Ladybug and Chat Noir actually have to fight till the end. they can't take the easy way out and just... rip their notebook or something. Also loving how (as far as we know) the akumatised victims are just random guys. Always hated how in the show out of over 2 million people in Paris, Hawk Moth always chose to go after one specific group of teenagers. And can we talk about how Hawk Moth akumatised himself at the end of the movie? He turned himself into a literal GOD. No magic notebook for him, he literally destroyed all of Paris and turned a river into lava. Why didn't he do that in the show?

The characters:

Chloe still sucks at the start of the movie, but she isn't weirdly possessive of Adrien, which is good. Also, Marinette isn't a stalker in this, which is an upgrade. Chloe and Sabrina seem to have a somewhat-healthier than canon dynamic, especially at the end of the movie. But tbh in canon Chloe literally locked Sabrina in a closet at one point, so there isn't much competition. Also she seems to have more of a rivalry than bully dynamic with Marinette at the end of the movie, which i wish had been explored more. But oh well.

I love chaotic Tikki. Imo "WE'RE GOING TO GO ON ADVENTURES AND ALMOST DIE" is way better then "Oh, I believe in you!" Which Movie Tikki does as well, but it definitely felt like she had more personality than canon Tikki. Plaggs characterisation I'm not a massive fan of. I like his apathy and how he likes rotten things (ties in with him being destruction) but they didn't need to turn him into a fart joke. Seriously. Something I do like about both the kwamis is how their personalities are so different- because they represent opposite things. From the start of the movie, it seems like they also hate each other (Master Fu begs them not to fight when he opens the box) which is neat.

Agreste drama:

Adrien telling his father that he sucks in that one scene gives me life. I also really like how Gabriel is a bad dad, but not actually terrible. He lets Adrien leave the house. But he still sucks in the sense he pays 0 attention to his son. Even Nathalie calls him out on it. But unlike in canon, Gabriel seems like he's actually trying. He just lost himself trying to get Emilie back. And with the Hawk Moth vs Chat Noir and ladybug scene at the end, I 100% think that Canon Hawk Moth would have just taken Chat Noir's miraculous and made the wish instead of stopping. He's definitely not perfect, but he's more of a good guy than in canon.

Also, with the timing, yes I feel like it was rushed, but tbf the creators of this movie managed to do the same thing the show's done in 5 seasons in an hour and a half. Also the animation was amazing.

Uh and thats all I have to say, so here are my hopes for the sequel:

Gabriel redemption. I want to see him be a good father and try and move on from what happened

Main Villain Mayura. (I also want her to frame Gabriel for her evilness)

More Chloe screentime. She was an Icon.

Smg4 Rewrite Ramble

So i have some issues with the Smg4 universe to the point where i both love and hate it. (please know i ain't haven’t watched all the episodes and all arcs so I’ll try to keep hands off on certain arcs and characters)

I’ll start with my complaints on the arcs and characters then I’ll talk about the changes.

Arcs:

Lawsuit:

Redesign 1: the designs were sloppily made

Mario’s trauma: They show that families were ripped apart and mention violence but yet we never see it actually affect anyone and Mario is the golden child and it’s weird he knows about what Nintendo has done but yet walks freely and even during the arc Mario shows know fear which kinda bothers me

Trial: Personally I kinda wish they had it be more accurate with the DMCA and also Meggy not being a real lawyer and Kirby not being an actual judge really bothered me since it means the DMCA would still be in effect and everyone should still be dead and Meggy appearing even though she should be dead and not even a real judge saw the Parody paper.

ITS GOTTA BE PERFECT:

4’s not getting check up on : I think they could’ve made it a bit more obvious on 4’s reasons and should’ve made it more obvious but hidden as he was going down hill. No one brought up a concern about 4 until Mario day which bothers me cause no one really tried until the countdown which is after Mario Day which tells me that nobody actually checked on him other than those few times and Mario bothering him. So no one basically mentioned their concerns to him before he went insane.

The movie: The movie was supposed to be about 4 and how he was mentally unstable and got corrupted but to me the movie felt more targeted for 3’s character development than 4’s which bothers me since 4 didn’t get any character development except for getting closer with 3 and he went a month without sleep and walked out perfectly fine.

Western spaghetti:

Tari screen: I never understood that part since Meggy and Mario never gained or lost knowledge from that so it kinda felt like a filler since it didn’t really mess with dynamics so I kinda wish it was something to progress the story

Souvenirs: How did 3 get the stuff from the simulation

Genesis:

34 rivalry: in my opinion 3 and 4 automatically hating eachother on looks is weird to me and their dynamic make it seem it’s more but nope it’s on looks. It was better in YouTube arc when 3 hated 4 over being better than him so tbh they should’ve had that from the start with jealousy or one of them hurt the other in a way

Anime: (I have to remain bread since I only watched part of the arc)

Desti’s death: I hate she was created to be killed so it leads the question of why make her at all

Revelations:

Why is everyone there: I have a good question. WHY IS EVERYONE AT COLLEGE!? I mean sure 1 and 2 teaching memes and 4 getting dragged along makes sense and so does Meggy, Melony and Mario but Bob, Boopkins and others doesn’t cause it’s college. I wish they made more sense about everyone there.

Niles and Melony: Niles only being present for Melony I don’t have an issue but how do people know about him if he’s only present to her and sure they found out but no one actually knows what he looks like.

God box’s death: how does the death of bod box make sense if it’s one of the creations keeping the world alive, including the fact they break 4th wall I ain’t a fan of since I can tell their trying to be funny with someone coming in confused about the box but it ain’t funny in my opinion

WOTFI 2023:

Build up: I didn’t really like the build up since it was the notebook going missing then “oh Mario has it so let’s rob a casino” it just felt stupid and the other 2 seemed more serious and yet this was the run of the joke and it sucks

VS: they didn’t have the traditional Fat Italian war and they didn’t add the Vs part which sucks cause why give that up? Why now?

Non-serious: it’s kinda stupid that the other 2 arcs were more serious but somewhat comical but then this had mainly funny instead of the more serious which bothers me cause it’s in the TV arc but yet it didn’t feel like it should be apart of it
